Another small selection of the various genetically engineered human subspecies that have arisen since humanity took to the stars…
Aquatics: Amphibious human variant designed to live and work underwater for extended periods of time; engineered with a combination of human, pinniped, and cetacean characteristics; most commonly found on Europa and Ganymede.
Hi-Gravs: Squat, hardy human variant designed to survive on high-gravity exoplanets; immensely strong, despite their small size; never call them “space dwarves,” they hate it.
Redrunners: Centaur-like human variant designed to roam the vast, largely unsettled plains of partially-terraformed Mars; created by an infamously eccentric (and ethically challenged,) biotechnology think-tank as a proof-of-concept for radically inhuman body plans.

So, my fist post in Tumblr (second, but this post planned as fist). I very exited - but also scared, because everything there new and unknown. And about what I can talk there?
Snakepeople and worms art from All Tommorows!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is very strange creatives, because mammals dont have really good body to become snake-like animals. Our spine mostly flex forward and backward, when some flexes right and left. That explains why many reptiles lost flexibility of they bodies (birds) or become a smallfoot or legless creatives. But mamalls whith small limbs moves more like cuterpillar than snakes - watch some cute seals videos, if you dont believe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But if we talk about Snakepeople and Worms, we dont have real troubles whith that. Thy dont have some things, what mammals does. No tooth, no milk, no good human brain - maybe Worm dont even have brain hemispheres, because Snakepeople have spiral brain. So, I think Worms just have primitive amphibia spine and very simple brains or something like that, and after years of evolution they become more reptilelike than their ancestors.
I have other speculations about this posthumans too: hair tooth (for better hint), secondary marsupials birth (because is more save for mother tailarm and baby if embrio end his development in special bag on mother belly), bifurcated lower jaw (snake have flex jaws and for Snakepeople more comfortable to have arm-like structure near his eyes and head), aves tiny arms (just cute but not necessary):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What about evolution? There is my transitional posthuman for Worms and Snakepeople - an ambush forest predator, catching prey with its front hands and holding on to branches with its hind legs. Also, this creature - let's call it a Flower Hunter - has outgrowths in the form of petals, which will later lead to the appearance of Snakepeople ears. (sorry for shitty quality).
Tumblr media
Thats all about Snakepeople. All works there is old arts from 2021, and i ready to show some more modern and intresting projects. And hey, Im that guy who made Ultimate All Tomorrows size compilation)

ight maybe it's just me or are the newer versions of the Qu kinda eh compared to the OG? like, the OGs were these weird ass, alien things that only vaugely resembled giant insects, they clearly had much different underlying anatomy more comparable to like, mollusks or even fish, but now they're just another sci-fi giant bug race, and i think it's a bit of a letdown, ya'know?

‘Holdout Humans’: Chilling Glimpse Into Our Future if We Survive Another Million Years | ScienceAlert
‘Holdout Humans’: Chilling Glimpse Into Our Future if We Survive Another Million Years : ScienceAlert Most species are transitory. They go extinct, branch into new species or change over time due to random mutations and environmental shifts. A typical mammalian species can be expected to exist for a million years. Modern humans, Homo sapiens, have been around for roughly 300,000 years. So what…

I love you robots and artificial intelligence with mental illness. I love you repression being depicted as literally deleting archived data to preserve functionality. I love you anxiety attacks being depicted as a system crashing virus. I love you ptsd being depicted as an annoying pop-up. I love you anxiety disorder being depicted as running thousands of simulations and projected outcomes. I love you artificial beings being shown to be human via their own artificiality.

After the invention of the Zero Point drive, the human race rapidly spread out across the stars, from the solar hub to the fringworlds. However, space is a hostile place, and habitable worlds are quite rare. As a result, many new variants of humanity have emerged, modifying themselves in order to survive the strange, alien environments they find themselves in… or sometimes just for fun. Pictured here are but a small sample of variant human subspecies…
Titanian: Corpulent, furry human variant adapted to extremely cold environments; initially developed to better withstand the harsh conditions of Titan, Saturn’s icy moon, but have since spread to other frozen worlds; typically inhabit pressurized underground tunnel cities carved into the ice.
Spaceborne: Tall, lanky variant with prehensile feet and tails, optimized for life in microgravity; one of the oldest variant groups, created during the earliest days of the first interstellar age; designed to live aboard long-distance exploration/colonization vessels.
(Artist’s note: these folks are heavily influenced by @jayrockin ‘s tailed spacers - go check out their stuff, it’s awesome!)
Rock Rats: Another early variant designed to live and work in the asteroid belt; short, stocky bodies built for navigating the narrow ducts, crawlspaces, and passageways common aboard mining vessels, as well as the labyrinthine tunnels of their hollowed-out asteroid homes; “rock rat” is a colloquial term, originally derogatory but has since been reclaimed.
Voidwalkers: Highly-modified variant designed to survive in the vacuum of space; originally created by a dubiously-ethical megacorp to serve as an orbital labor force; have since gone on to form their own society of nomadic spacefaring clans, offering their unique services to ships and stations in need.
Vamps: A collective of eccentric horror fiction enthusiasts who deliberately bio-modded themselves to resemble their favorite imaginary bloodsuckers; long-lived, sensitive to sunlight, crave the taste of blood; actually pretty harmless, as they tend to subsist on synthetic blood substitutes.
(Artist’s note: apparently its a weirdly common thing for vampires to inexplicably show up in otherwise grounded hard-sf settings, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon!)
SmartPets: Bipedal uplifted animals with trace amounts of human DNA, available in a wide variety of species; created and sold by a division of the same megacorp as the voidwalkers; designed to be the ultimate domestic companion; infamously advertised with the tagline “man’s best friend just got better.”

Trying to recreate one of my cruddy old strips in Niji 5. Feeding it the original sketches was a dismal failure in this case—pure text prompts seemed to work much better for once.

Sonnet: 'Visiting Earth' (from the series 'Voices From The Future')
Sonnet: ‘Visiting Earth’ (from the series ‘Voices From The Future’)
I like to visit Earth sometimes; I find the too-brief lives and simple cares a change from the infinities in which we range, we who now live unbodied in vast Mind. I love to watch the children at a zoo, careering up and down, shrieking to see the strange lives in the weird captivity they also share…and as their parents do. Visiting in – of course – a human guise, I can be young or old, female…
