my internet has regressed to actual dial up speeds and with each day i get the feeling they won't fix this until next year. like, it affects the entire fucking state and some neighboring ones but i still feel that they won't do nothing about it for now

okay so we just had the penultimate session of our DnD campaign for this semester and I AM SCREAMING because this was the super super Classic High Fantasy Pathfinder Campaign and all of the players had accidentally independently created the Super Classic High Fantasy Protagonists? like, there was me, Seraph, youngest daughter in a well-established high elf family of wizards who wasn’t quite as wizard-y as her older brothers and didn’t want to get married, so ran off to the Library, ~and on this quest will discover her own inner power and return home having made a name for herself~, Gus, who also worked at the Library, who was a half-orc that was exiled from his tribe because he wasn’t chill with the killing and raiding stuff, Jiyoki, kitsune-ninja on a learning-to-be-human sort of arc, and Arivan, the ice cold Inquisitor who ~learns how to be soft again after making friends with the party, just in time for all the demons to attack~. And, you know, Silas, the human fighter, who was probably evil.

WELL. IT TURNED OUT THAT SILAS, THE HUMAN FIGHTER, WAS ACTUALLY THE FIRSTBORN SON AND PRINCE OF GRONDELA, THE NATION THAT WE’D BEEN SENT ON A SPY MISSION TO INFILTRATE AND ATTACK, WHO FLED WHEN THE EVIL ADVISOR WHO CONVINCED THE KING TO START THIS WAR TRIED TO KILL HIM WITH NO EXPLANATION, AND HAS BEEN HIDING HIS IDENTITY AND PRETENDING TO BE A MERCENARY EVER SINCE

It’s a horrible shame to consider unfollowing innocent bystanders or a whole fucking fandom because of a couple of abusive people, but it may come to that.

Waaay back when I was heavy into Final Fantasy 7, one of my associates in the fandom expected more from me than I was in a position to give. I got a nasty personal message from them accusing me of blowing them off and lying because I wasn’t paying enough attention to their fan fiction.

I blew up at this person, told them I had my own serious problems and couldn’t guarantee that I could read and review each chapter of their fan fiction the minute it came out.

I still don’t understand why they took it so hard that I couldn’t read/review right away, knowing what I was dealing with, but in the end they froze me out and turned an entire group against me.

I was accused of being abusive for telling this person to get over it and stop expecting people to drop everything for their story. I was even accused of lying about being in the process of reading a chapter when this person sent me the nasty message telling me I never supported them.

When I finally snapped and told them where to shove it, I found a post from another “friend” in our group on tumblr, calling me out by name and painting me as a bully. They immediately blocked me like a coward after posting it so that I couldn’t defend myself on their postline; but I still copied and pasted it to a post of my own to have my own go at it.

I’m saying this now because after all this time, I still see these assholes in notes from any FF7 reblogs and it still makes me sick to my stomach, still makes me cry and destroys any motivation to finish my works in progress.

I want people to know that there are some seriously toxic bullies in this fandom, and if I suddenly unfollow it’s not because of you. It’s because I’ve seen one too many comments from people that traumatized me.
