3:00am, haus basement

It’s late.

It’s so late it’s on the bubble of being early, actually. Chowder should be sleeping—all three of them should be sleeping—graduation is tomorrow. He should be deep in a REM cycle, blissfully unaware of the creaking of the Haus, or the occasionally banging of the hot water heater. He should be dreaming, with the soft snores of Dex on one side and the endearing nose whistle of Nursey on the other. 

Should be. 

Instead, the bungalow is filled with the sounds of rustling bedsheets, of straining mattress springs. The quiet of late spring night is broken up with stifled moans, with whispered pleas, with gasping breaths of pleasure. 

Chowder trades long, heated kisses with Dex sprawled haphazardly across his chest. His hips writhe, straining to buck up into Nursey’s mouth. It’s overwhelming—in a good way, in the best way—to be between them like this, to be so utterly vulnerable and yet completely safe in their hands. He never wants to be anywhere else, would happily live in this moment forever, but—

Dex nips at the hinge of his jaw and Chowder’s thoughts scatter with his whine. All he wants is more: more pressure, more contact, more lips and limbs and tongues and just—more. His orgasm has been ebbing and flowing for a while, completely at Nursey’s whim. Chowder’s more than ready to come.

“Why is this here,” Dex says, completely flat and unamused, so that it comes out, not like a question, but like the start of a lengthy scolding before a fine.

Chowder glances up at the offending object, and then quickly back down at his homework. He shrugs a shoulder.

Dex remains unamused. “Christmas was over a week ago.”

“And yet its traditions live on.”

“Chris,” he says, warning.

“William,” Chowder says right back, attempting to mimic him, but breaking into a snorted laugh at the end that he tries to cover with one hand while the other keeps writing calculus equations at the kitchen table.

Dex sighs, long suffering and with his entire body.

Which is perfect, because it means he doesn’t move from his current location.

“Yo, C, have you seen my--” Nursey stops short in the doorway between the Haus living room and kitchen. “Oh, chill,” he interrupts himself, eyes trained up at the mistletoe above him, just as, directly to his left, Dex puts his head in his hands with a groan.

“That’s why it’s there,” Chowder tells Dex with a nod.

“I will murder every person on this team,” Dex responds.

autistic chowder headcanons because i CAN and i WILL:

hes always stimming. like,, always always. whether it be flapping his hands or tapping his fingers or just making little noises, he is never still and quiet and everybody who knows him knows that

volume control is (semi-unfortunately) not really his thing. if he talks for long enough, he gets progressively louder and louder until he's practically shouting but he doesn't realize it because he's too caught up in talking :( it kind of hurts him when people tell him to shut up, but he understands that if you're not used to it, his noise is a bit much.

the sharks are (super freaking obviously) his special interest!!!! 🦈 his shark-themed room is the best thing ever in his opinion, and just letting people look around his room is like infodumping without all of the rambling :)

nursey and dex fighting isn't great for him because sometimes he'll misinterpret the social cues and he won't realize they're in the middle of a series of arguments. they kind of don't understand why he's still smiley and excited when they're constantly fighting, but when they bring it up, he has to make up and excuse about trying to bring them together rather than be honest about not understanding the situation because gosh that's embarrassing :((

they eventually work it out, though!!!! nursey and dex learn to just be blunt with him when they're not getting along (ex. telling him directly that "hey we're fighting right now") and now he can try to help them work it out properly rather than just being optimistic and telling them to get along :)

this man loves chewelry!!! he's got a bad habit of chewing on his shirt and chewing on pens (note: pen ink taste bad. avoid chewing on pens) so when he discovers chewelry, he is never seen without a chew necklace or just a random sensory chew in his pocket

he doesn't talk about it but he actually really enjoys explaining autism stuff to his friends!!!!!!! :0 like when nursey asks if maybe he could borrow a stim toy to help with his writing anxiety habits, chowder goes into hyper-excitement mode when explaining each of the toys and how they're used and how to take care of them, which is a very long infodump

he's also the type of guy to enjoy weighted blankets and weighted things in general, so he's usually seen cuddling with farmer while letting something rest on top of them (weighted blanket, big stuffed animal, etc)

in regards to gender, his autism affects that a lot, so while he definitely identifies as trans and as a man, he also tends to say things like "my gender is.... a shark" or that his gender is infodumping. it makes sense to other nd people but everyone else is just like "oh?? ok chowder!! good for you!!!"

Summary

It's near the Screw dance and the frogs are on edge, just after Chowder bumps into Farmer, Nursey and Dex spin up a plan to set the two of them up together using a twitter thread from Bitty's old twitter. It sends a chain reaction with everyone trying to set everyone up together, including Holster and Ransom. What follows as a simple plan turns into something that can be dangerous, with the chaos of everyone setting each other up and potentially letting some feelings come through.

hi lucy!! this fic is essentially pov chris chow’s roommate who’s confused how such a nice guy can have two massive assholes for best friends and basically it's an outsider perspective on smh, how weird goalie's can be and ultimately nurseydex.

i don't have much written for this, except for this,,,,

Dylan's surprised to say the least when he goes back to the dorm room and the door is unlocked. He's fairly sure that Chris has a Mandarin class until 7, so he's not sure why anyone would be in their room right now? His mind immediately jumps to a burglary, before the more rational part of his brain reminds him that there could be any number of reasons for Chris to not be in class, be it because of illness or maybe his hockey practice ran over so he couldn't go.

(Chris seemed to be at the rink most of the time if he wasn't in class, at the Hockey Haus or with his girlfriend, so Dylan definitely wouldn't put it past him to become so intensely focused on practice that he straight up forgot to go to class.)

However, the sight that he absolutely didn't expect to greet him as he walked into his room was that of two gangly guys, trying to squeeze their bodies onto Chris' single bed and bickering so loudly that they didn't even notice the sound of the door opening.
