Dynama - I could implode her honestly. However she can out Rube Goldberg me so who's the real winner here

Tejuri - I'm so sorry. I would cry so much but it could be done

Annomi - if I saw him I would try to attack him. I would be so good at attacking him. Only defense he has is that he's a prince of heart. I however am both strong willed and insane so this will not matter <3

Pleome - look at him in his eyes. He does not want to fight me. I could win with ease

I am uncertain:

Ajax - I frankly have no idea the outcome. Neither of us would have weapons in this scenario so he doesn't have his flamethrower. While I am shorter I make up for it in unholy rage. I feel as though we are evenly matched

No:

Tintin - he is bug. I rest my case. Although I do feel since we are both very short I have the best chance here

Presae - hhhhhhhhhhh. Get killt idiot. Buggirl wins all fights

Pardus - I know better than to throw down with women who look like Pardus. They can usually harm you terribly

Retris - he kills people for a living. He is a big boy. He could fucking KILL me

Emeric - not only could I never, but also she's like more powerful than me on a whole different level. I'd get Wiley Coyoted

Kausat - HE KNOWS

Tomiei - probably the main sovstuck character I am actively scared of. She is giant and strong she could destroy me with ease. Also her TikTok user status inflicts immediately psychic damage on me whenever I enter her vicinity

Conclusion. Most of these characters could kill me

Oh, this is a fun question!! I’ll divide these up by their respective casts, just to make things a little easier, both for me, and you, the reader! I’ll even include reasons why!

(NOTE: I’m not going to include everyone, because there’s some people I’m a little on the fence about, or have more neutral opinions on.)

WOULDN’T MIND BEING MY ROOMMATE:

CYNTIN: He would make me gayer somehow.

TEJURI: Though she’d probably be expensive as hell to live with due to her Voidrot, and the menagerie of ways in which it manifests, she’s genuinely peak Nerdy Southern Best Friend. I can’t help but think I’d get along just so well with her. She’s not even Friend-Shaped. She’s Best Friend-Shaped.

RETRIS: Despite his everything, he’s pretty chill! We’d probably get along! Also he makes, like, so much fucking money, so it’d definitely be a comfortable arrangement. He’s a very, very good friend, too, and very caring.

AJAX: Cool dude, seems genuinely fun to be around. Movie nights will be a blast. I will have to force him to pay for the holes he punches in the walls at random, though.

PLEOME: He can be a little overbearing, even if he means well, but is otherwise just some regular guy. I’d go positively bonkers watching him do tech restoration.

COULDN’T PAY ME TO SHARE A SPACE WITH THEM:

DYNAMA: I couldn’t do it. I’m sorry. I love them so much, but… They’d proselytize at me and I’d just start swinging. They mean well, but they’re severely Christian, and very much so grew up in a tiny town. I could be friends with them, but I could never commit to living with them.

PRESAE: She would call my oven a “weird mechanical kangaroo” and then disassemble it for parts.

EMERIC: She has turned the kitchen into a meth lab. I’m becoming asthmatic from the fumes just thinking about it.

ANNOMI: I would not be able to stand a single iota of his personality. I love writing him, I personally find him fascinating because of the fucked up focus on the psychological, but I would not be able to deal with him in a physical space OR online. If he got some kind of obsession with me, I’d just kill him or something. I don’t know, dude.

PATRONS:

WOULDN’T MIND BEING MY ROOMMATE:

DAMARA: Surprised at this entry? Perhaps you’re forgetting Damara is actually very nice! The only reason she’s as mean and disconcerting as she is is because during most of what we see of her in canon, she’s talking to the Alpha Trolls, of whom most of which she has a massive grudge against. I’d be functionally immune to her penchant for Psychological Warfare. Also, she’s cool, and I’m supporting her journey into therapy.

RUFIOH: He would watch TikToks out loud and maybe have a few annoying opinions but otherwise would be a pretty ok roommate. Hard to keep settled down though, which isn’t an issue for me. He would barely ever be home.

PORRIM: Genuinely a very accepting person, but knows when and how to put her foot down, and get shit in order. Very good person. She’s incredibly offline to the point where it’s both hilarious and soul-healing. Ultimate grass-toucher. We love her. She knows Queer History + Theory that you couldn’t even imagine. She’d teach me Knitting. But most importantly, she’d have a Driver’s License.

ARANEA: We would be so fucking annoying if we shared a living space. We’d just fuel each other’s Stage 4 Autism. The essays would be severe in length, niche as hell, and possibly unhinged. She’s very well read, too, and knows what she’s talking about, so I trust her thoughts and opinions on things. It’d be exactly what she needs, and exactly what I need.

MEENAH: She is such a recluse that I would probably barely notice her being there. Pays her rent by leaving an envelope on the counter with a wine glass on top so I can’t miss it. It’s got “RENT, BITCH.” written on it in cursive with a hot pink glitter gel pen. Sometimes she barges into my room and starts bitching loudly about some random bullshit I’ve never heard of. She is so fun and charismatic that I would not mind. And also I love being nosy and hearing drama so I’m entertained regardless. 10/10.

COULDN’T PAY ME TO SHARE A SPACE WITH THEM:

KANKRI: No. (I love him, and he’s a very complex person who I’d love to discuss religion with, but I can’t tolerate his level and flavor of being terminally online. I’ve encountered people like him before. It is… Not pleasant. Granted, you can work him out of his behaviors, but it takes a very specific kind of person to have the patience and tolerance to do so, and I’m not one of them.)

CRONUS: Fuck no. (I would become even more mentally ill. His toxic behaviors are very much so fueled by specific things that are somewhat understandable and interesting, but that doesn’t mean anyone is obligated to tolerate him. I’m even more susceptible to his specific methods of abuse just because of things like Paranoia and Memory Loss, I don’t need to deal with that.)

OCHOSI: Very much so a case of an Extrovert adopting an Introvert. He might take me zip-lining or something like that, which isn’t at all my taste, but it’s fun and healthy to fill your life with new experiences, even if they’re not totally your thing. It’s enrichment. Also, I am a weak man sometimes, and Ochosi is kind of attractive. Sorry.

ATRISA: She is an extrovert and knows where all the gay bars are and this would make me normal.

If Retris is named after/based on Tetris, are all the Sovstuck original characters based on/tied to classic video games? Like Space Invaders, Pong, Snake, Pac-Man, Frogger?

A few of them are! We’ve got extremely overly complicated and extremely simple reasons for each one, too! Here’s a few I can think of right off the bat:

Tejuri is inspired by Snake.

Dynama is inspired by Frogger.

Presae is inspired by Centipede.

Meseri is inspired by Polybius.

Ajax is inspired by Space Invaders.

I would also like to take a moment to say that while, yes, Retris’s name is literally just Tetris with an R in front of it (there are very simple and very complicated reasons for this also,) the inspiration I derived from the game for Retris’s character is largely based on The Tetris Effect. Don’t think about that too hard! Or do. I’m not the boss of you. :)

how did you come up with names for your fantrolls?

Fun Fact: I actually named most of the characters in Sovereignstuck!

I’ll put a list under the cut! Some of them get a little complicated, while others are a bit more… Straightforward.

(If you don’t recognize a word or reference, I recommend just hitting up Google!)

CYNICAL ITINERANT: Incredibly literal. Since he’s a carapacian, his name is just a title that describes who he is as a person. The nickname Tintin, however, is a very unsubtle reference to The Adventures of Tintin.

TEJURI KROMAB: “Tejuri” is based on “Tejat,” a star in the Gemini constellation, and “Dioscuri,” the collective name of Castor and Pollux, the twins that comprise Gemini. “Kromab,” however, is just an alien spelling of a shortening for “chromatic aberration,” referencing her status as a psionic. It was originally a placeholder surname. It stuck.

DYNAMA ZARROW: Not many intricate moving parts to this one, which is ironic. “Dynama” is derived from “dynamic,” while “Zarrow” is quite literally just ripped from “the Zarrow Shuffle.”

PRESAE COVNUL: Another straightforward one- first name based on the word “presage,” while her surname is based on the words “coven” and “null.”

PARDUS RUBATO: “Pardus” is taken from the taxonomic classification for a leopard- being “Panthera Pardus.” Her surname, “Rubato,” is derived from the musical term “tempo rubato,” essentially meaning to play with little regard to exact pacing. Very Timebound!

RETRIS MORAGE: Here’s a long one. The most obvious inspirations here are “Tetris” and “Mirage,” considering it’s one letter off from both. Put together, it’s a reference to the Tetris Effect. The “Ret-” part of his first name is also taken from the prefix “Retro.” This has several uses. (His name is actually severely ironic and deliberate, but I can’t get too far into that without spoiling... Like, 12 different things. Don’t think about this too hard.)

AJAX BARRETT: His name was chosen due to it sounding exactly how we’d imagine an edgy kid with a fixation on shitty action films and post apocalyptic media would name himself. The meaning is intentional, though. His first name, “Ajax,” was inspired by the mythological figure “Ajax the Great.” “Barrett,” however, means “strife.” Rage-y. Very Rage-y.

EMERIC SARGAS: Derived from the male name “Emmerich,” of which has quite an interesting meaning, and the term “emetic.” Her surname is, letter for letter, the name of a star in the Scorpio constellation- which is one of the brightest stars in the sky.

KAUSAT STOLAR: Their first name is derived from “Kaus Australis,” which is a star system in the Sagittarius constellation, and “Rukbat-” for the last two letters- which is of similar origin. It’s rather close to the given name “Kausar,” which has meanings very tied into the Life aspect, in my opinion. “Stolar” translates to “joiner,” which has two meanings. Both are important to him. :)

TOMIEI AERRAS: Her first name is another extremely unsubtle reference, this time to Junji Ito’s horror short story collection called, well, “Tomie.” “Aerras” comes from “Aer,” and “Aether,” the Greek god of air, and the personification of the upper sky, respectively.

ANNOMI ERRATA: Extremely straightforward, and admittedly a bit mean. First name is based on the concept of “anomie,” while having a slightly similar pronunciation to “enemy.” Surname is, letter for letter, the plural form of “erratum.”

PLEOME ALRIUM: Here’s a weird one. His first name is derived from “pleochroism,” for the first four letters, and “acme,” for the final two. His surname comes from “Alrescha,” a main star in the Pisces constellation, and “Piscium,” which is… the name of the Pisces constellation. It’s a bit redundant, but it’s quite fun to say.

Most of the crew is pretty unanimous with our opinions, and I'm much of the same, but it's a fun hypothetical! so here we go,

[ Dynama Zarrow ] Nope. Either the religious talk would drive me stir crazy or I'd drive them stir crazy with the fact that I make several jokes About God, and various other things.

[ Tejuri Kromab ] Hell yeah! Granted our Southern-Hospitality might collide a bit, but not in anyway negative! I'd be interested in what she's writing just out of pure curiosity. I am sharing some sweet tea with her.

[ Presae Covnul ] Split. Doesn't know half of the electrical appliances I'd be using, and would probably tear them apart. But otherwise seems like a pretty chill roomie! Would make a mean soup that would cure me of all diseases.

[ Pardus Rubato ] Split. Would probably blare the music she's working on at 2 am. While the music in itself is impressive, but I'd be tormented with unwarranted AMV's every time I take my headphones off. But I must also consider that, 1. is kitty 2. PARKOUR.

[ Retris Morage ] Wouldn't Mind! Having a decent place wouldn't be out of the question, and a pretty nice guy once you befriend him! Probably would pester him with too many questions though given his knowledge.

[ Ajax Barrett ] I don't see why not! Watching shitty or good movies sounds like an absolute TIME with him, plus I'd like to take him to a rage room and absolutely Wail on a TV.

[ Emeric Sargas ] Split. We'd need an entirely separate ventilated room so I don't get attacked by fumes that could kill me, but otherwise would be a fun roomie! I think they'd be interesting to talk to, even if my brain would get melted a little. But I'm pretty sure it's already halfway there on it's own.

[ Kausat Stolar ] ...Split, but leaning on yes. Got the same interest of Weird Houses. Although he takes it a bit more... Seriously then I do. Would absolutely not go with them on a Abandoned House exploration, but would absolutely make him Worse by showing him the game "ANATOMY".

[ Tomiei Aerras ] Eeeehhhh...... No. She's hilarious, no doubt, but Hardcore Tiktok People scare me.

[ Inaniloquent Commander - Inaco ] Split, leaning on no. On one hand, the garden would FLORISH. On the other, no leniency on rules would probably jack up my anxiety real bad.

[ Argebi Kromab ] Unsure... I'm sure she's wonderful, and the package deal with Khanda doesn't bother me too much, but it's a living situation where it'd drift more into "You do your thing, and I do mine". Can't really say for sure why!

[ Meseri Covnul ] No, but for my own safety & sanity. I'd like to keep my skeleton, thank you.

[ Khanda Morage ] Split. He'd tell me something Entirely Untrue, and the worst part is that I might believe him if I have no knowledge of the subject in the first place. Would be embarrassing in the long run. But, is hilarious, and probably plays a mean DND game.

[ Arsine Sargas ] Running so so far away. She'd get a wiff of my brainworms and use them to her advantage. No thanks. + The apartment would smell like wet cigarettes' 24/7.

[ Ochosi Stolar ] Split. High energy would probably get me pretty exhausted after a while, but in moderation would be pretty cool! Would give me near heart attacks though with the kinda stunts he's doing.

[ Dulvyx Errata ] Nope. Absolutely not. A thousand times no. Self Proclaimed "Empaths", scare me.

[ Atrisa Alrium ] HELL yes. Seems so sweet. And our grocery list would include a gallon of Women Respecting Juice. I wouldn't allow myself to get dragged to a bar, but small socialization events would be healthy for me I think!
