Animal of the day: Orchid mantis!

The orchid mantis is a type of preying mantis that camouflages themselves as orchid flowers! They are very pretty.

Preying mantis are formidable predators in the insect world. They capture prey with those hooked front legs of theirs at incredibly fast speeds. Their camouflage allows them to hide in plain sight, and when a pollinating insect approaches believing they are a flower, they snatch it up and eat it!

Imagine being that little insect, thinking you are about to get a tasty meal and instead becoming the meal yourself! Terrifying!
