10 Fandoms, 10 Characters, 10 People
Thanks for the tag @jaywalkers <3. I love your list of characters, you’ve got great taste : )
Rules: name 10 of your favourite characters from 10 different fandoms, then tag 10 people to do the same
1) Andrew Minyard from All For the Game
My blorbo of all time probably. No character has given me brainrot and writing inspiration the way he does and likely no character ever will. This post sums up his appeal perfectly
2) Lan Wangji from Mo Dao Zu Shi
My newest blorbo from my most recently joined fandom. What can I say, I’m a sucker for incredibly queer competent stoic prob neurodivergent men that are absolutely insane about one person. When I watch the MDZS donghua, I literally have to pause every time he comes on the screen just so I can stare at him a bit, so you could say I’m a bit obsessed
3) Kim Theerapanyakul from KinnPorsche
He’s this weird little guy that is simultaneously the most competent character in the show and the biggest cringe-fail loser. He looks so suave and cool on the surface with his whole Taylor Swift by day mafia prince detective by night thing but then you realize he’s actually a complete nerd with a whole ass literal murder conspiracy board hidden behind a giant selfie portrait of himself and I love him so much (also he’s played by Jeff Satur, who makes my aesthetic attraction senses go haywire, but that’s neither here nor there)
4) Kyuzo from Samurai 7
My 1st fictional crush and prob my earliest blorbo. My type in favorite fictional male character (hypercompetent stoic character that doesn’t talk much with bonus points for iconic hair) can 100% be attributed to him. His story was the earliest villain redemption arc I can remember encountering in media (this was the 1st anime I ever watched so I was like 4 or 5 when I 1st saw this guy) and so for me I always think of him when I see people talking about iconic redemption arcs (sorry Zuko)
5) Midorima Shintarou from Kuroko no Basket
At the peak of my high school sports anime phase, this guy was my favorite. He’s tall, he’s green, he’s an anime glasses character™️, he’s tsundere, he’s prissy, he’s weird af, he’s got one of the most bonkers basketball skills ever, and he’s even an astrology girlie. What’s not to love
6) Merlin from BBC Merlin
BBC Merlin is the fandom that sucked me in at a time where I thought I was growing out of fandom and fanfic (spoiler alert: I very much was not) and it’s responsible for completely changing my relationship with fandom into something much more intense than it was previously. And it’s all thanks to this funky skinny wizard man who for whatever reason captivated me enough that I read hundreds of thousands of fan-created words about him for nearly a year and a half
7) Jasnah Kholin from The Stormlight Archive
She’s one of the rare canonically asexual female characters, and she’s even from a major fantasy book series too! I fixated on this character long before I knew I was ace (though perhaps that should’ve been a clue lol), mostly because I just thought she was so cool and I found her whole “why would I want a relationship when I’m busy with all this shit to study” attitude so relatable
8) Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender
I wanted to be her so badly when I was a kid y’all have no idea. She just made such an impression on me because she’s so cool and so strong but also unapologetically and obviously feminine and that really struck a chord with young me and is prob the reason why I didn’t really have a “not like the other girls” phase cuz she was revolutionary for little me’s idea of how a “girl” can be. To this day she is the character that to me has the coolest powers ever
9) Cassandra of Troy from Greek Mythology
It’s prob weird to include her but I was a real greek mythology girlie (in that I was into it before Percy Jackson came out) and Cassandra has always my favorite. The tragedy of her story has always been very appealing to me and upsettingly relatable in a lot of ways
10) Kym Ladell from Purple Hyacinth
Ms. Kym one of those characters that’s ostensibly the comedic relief except nope she’s hiding oceans of pain under her smile. She’s got trauma and a tragic backstory that she hides from the rest of the main characters in one of the strongest “this is fine” performances you’ve ever seen

I definitely liked Anne with an E more as it roved farther away from the source material. I didn’t really care about it being a faithful adaptation, because there’s already a close-enough-to-the-book one that I like (the 1985 one), and I was open to something exploring the darker aspects of the source material. The execution was spotty in the first season, though, for two main reasons:
The show’s general MO early on is to take something bad that happens to Anne in the book, then make it way more extreme. Instead of being an overworked unpaid child servant in a household with a raging alcoholic patriarch, she’s all of that but also the motherfucker literally dies of a heart attack while brutally beating her in the rain. Instead of Marilla unfairly blaming her for the disappearance of a brooch and judging her super-harshly for lying (already a fucked-up way to treat a kid), Marilla does all that and almost sends her back to the orphanage. To me, this suggests some lack of respect for the viewers’ intelligence…or, worse, a failure to understand that Anne was already going through traumatic experiences in the book.
It led to some inconsistencies when they tried to combine their new ideas with the famous incidents of the novel. For example: in an early episode, Anne scandalizes the village by sharing her inaccurate ideas of what sex entails and accidentally spreading a rumor that Prissy Andrews is pregnant. The idea is that the people who “raised” her didn’t care enough not to expose her to age-inappropriate concepts, and most of Avonlea is shitty about it. This blows over fairly quickly, though. What doesn’t blow over quickly is a more-or-less book-faithful version of the raspberry cordial incident. So we’re supposed to believe that Mrs. Barry freaked the hell out because Anne innocently confused red wine with raspberry cordial and Diana got drunk because she drank a fuckton of it (an incident that Marilla is merely slightly exasperated/embarrassed by, despite being super uptight and Protestant), yet she’s silent on Anne’s garbled sex talk. Mrs. Barry: straight-edge icon?
Things evened out a lot after the first season, even in the more upsetting storylines, and I really enjoyed the rest of the show. Although it still kind of cracked me up that Anne, Diana, and Ruby were so tight with a much more overtly cruel Josie Pye while not hanging out with Jane Andrews hardly at all.

Sorting the awae characters into Hogwarts Houses
Because I’m trash and I have opinions
❤️Gryffindor❤️
Anne Shirley Cuthburt- Anne is a Gryffindor! She’s brave and and chivalrous. She fights for whats right! I see a lot of people putting her in Ravenclaw, and yes she is very smart. However Anne is very much someone who acts before she thinks, which is definitely more Gryffindor.
Minnie May Berry- this child went up to a criminal and kicked him! I also feel like she’s going to end up being a rebellious teenager (even more so then Diana because she won’t lie about it) as she has no care for propriety. Big Gryffindor vibes
Moody Spurgeon- I feel like Moody’s a Neville Longbottom type character. It’s doesn’t seem like he would be a Gryffindor, hes a bit of an underdog and expected to be In Hufflepuff, but the sorting hat (in this case me) sees how brave he is.
Philippa Gordon- she may not be in awae, but she’s still one of my favorite characters in the series (kinda mad she won’t be brought to screen). I feel like if you’ve read the books you understand why I put her here.
Mary Lacroix- she is just so strong and powerful! Like she raised a child on her own, I mean really can’t get more brave then that. Also look at how she treated bash when she first met him, she takes no shit!
💙Ravenclaw💙
Winifred Rose- women of her financial status often didn’t work. Winifred was obviously very smart and academically focused (I imagine her family life was a bit like Diana’s and she had to fight for her position at Dr. Wards)
Diana Berry- look at my bby girl! Fighting for her education! She just wants to learn! Also blue is her color.
Ka’kwet- another icon who just wanted to go to school. I mean because people are awful it didn’t work out, but she is such a bright girl.
Murial Stacy- I don’t think I have to explain this one.
John Blythe- we don’t really know that much about him but he was reading Walt Whitman on hes death bed.
💛Hufflepuff💛
Gilbert Blythe- I feel like Gilbert could have been a Slytherin or a Ravenclaw, but I put him in Hufflepuff for 3 reasons. 1. He is definitely honest and loyal. He defends his friends and family constantly. 2. He is very hardworking. I think that he had a Slytherin momment when he considered going the easy way by marrying Winifred for his ambitions, but he ended up going agianst it for his heart (a Hufflepuff move) 3. I’m a Hufflepuff and I’m selfish. He would look so cute in yellow though!
Cole Mackenzie- Hufflepuff artist boy, need I say more
Mathew Cuthbert- I mean i think it’s obvious...
Marilla Cuthbert- she values loyalty and hard work a lot. Also I think the Cuthberts were probably a majority Hufflepuff family.
Ruby Gillis- literal baby. Agian, no explanation needed
Bash Lacroix- he loves his family so much! He’s got such a big heart and works so hard!
Thomas Lynde- we don’t really know much about him, but he seems nice and really just lets Rachel do all the talking. (Also Rachel’s a Slytherin and Hufflepuff x Slytherin is really hecking cute)
💚Slytherin💚
Josephine Barry- I have this theory that the Barry’s are an old Slytherin family. Everyone in the family has been sorted into sytherin untill Diana and Minnie May. Ms. Barry is definitely a queen and I think she’s very ambitious. She really takes no shit.
Mr&Mrs Andrews- I think the Andrews are another old Slytherin family where everyone’s been put in that house for generations.
Billy Andrews- 1. He’s an Andrews 2. He’s cunning, ambitious and a little bitch (also he is very mean, but we don’t support negative Slytherin stereotypes in this household.)
Prissy Andrews- ok I was so close to putting this queen in Ravenclaw. However in the first two seasons she did bend to the will of her family. I think she would be someone who asked to be in Slytherin even though the hat saw her Ravenclaw potential. Also her standing up to her father and asking for her dowery? I could definitely see a Slytherin doing that. (Although once she marries Winnie and they raise 2 kids who are both put into Ravenclaw. She disowns herself from Slytherin and only supports 1 quidditch team)
Eliza Barry- very into whats proper and whats not. Probably came from an old family and met her future husband at school
William Barry- man definitely gives of Slytherin vibes. Also is a Barry.
Rachel Lynde- I don’t think this one needs an explanation
Josie Pye- I mean just look at her motives for doing things and I think you can understand (agian I’m not trying to put the villains in Slytherin because of negative stereotypes. I just do think she’s a Slytherin)
Jane Andrews- she may be a lesbian, but she is also an Andrews and therefore a sytherin
Nathanial- this guy was in Slytherin before he was kicked out of hogwarts.
💜Squib💜
Mr. Phillips-I don’t know how to explain that he gives off squib vibes
Mr. Dunlop- my theory here is that Nathaniel kinda manipulated him into doing his evil plan. They both kinda bonded over the fact that the wizarding world had disowned them.
The end! (Ignore all the spelling and grammar errors)

Anna watches S03xE07 for the first time (warning: spoilers!)
NOT looking forward to this episode at all.
In fact, I’m terrified.
Would rather NOT watch.
Anywho, now that’s out of the way, here we go!
“Anne’s article isn’t recieved quite as well as she planned” WELL WE KNEW THAT WAS GONNA HAPPEN. THANKS. But Josie makes a brave decision? Ooooooooh.
OH DEAR. MARILLA IS NOT GOING TO BE HAPPY.
OH NO, IT’S HAPPENING.
ARE WE READY FOR THIS?
Mr Barry and his dad jokes.
Diana didn’t even think and went along with Marilla’s assumption. A true bosom friend. She’s a ride or die.
OH NO, IT’S HAPPENING.
THE ARTICLE’S MADE THINGS WORSE.
OH NO.
Ugh, the video’s frozen and won’t load.
Well, we all knew this was gonna happen. But still.
Poor Josie.
Poor Anne.
Big yikes.
Why won’t this episode load anymore??
Can we just talk about how good the casting is? Josie’s parents look like they really could be Miranda’s parents and the Andrews really do look like a family. A+ casting.
OH NO POOR BABY JOSIE.
‘We casn’t have this dirty bit of business mar the arrangments between you and Billy’. YUCK. JOSIE’S FATHER IS EVEN WORSE THAN HER MOTHER.
‘It doesn’t matter whose fault it is’.
UM. EXCUSE ME.
‘We’ll simply do whatever it takes to get him back’. EW NOBODY WANTS HIM BACK.
‘He’s not a nice boy!’ YES JOSIE. YES MY DAUGHTER. MY BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER. I HAVE NOW ADOPTED YOU. YOU ARE MY DAUGHTER NOW, NOT THEIR’S.
‘You put yourself in a situation…girl’s with repuatation’s don’t have choices’
My heart is breaking.
‘He hurt me!’ oh heavens. my baby.
Baby girl.
PROTECT HER.
PROTECT HER.
Oh no.
IT’S ALL GOING DOWN.
‘Perhaps manifesto would be a better word’ NGL, I laughed.
So Anne didn’t mention Josie by name is the article? I’m glad about that.
I hope Anne does apologise to Josie.
‘Billy we’ll get you down to Charlottetown soon so we can find a woman more compatible with our interests’. EW, EW, EW, EW, EW. THANK GOODNESS THEY WON’T LET JOSIE MARRY HIM BUT EW. NO GIRL DESERVES THAT.
YES, IS PRISSY NOT ON HIS SIDE?? YES PRISSY! YOU GO PRISSY!
‘The only difference is that you found me worthy of defense’. PRISSY I LOVE YOU. WE STAN A FEMINIST QUEEN. OH WE STAN. ‘And now you’re hanging Josie out to dry because she’s not your daughter so “Off we go, onto the next!”’ STRAIGHT FACTS. POINTS. WERE. MADE. OH, WHAT A QUEEN. WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE??
‘Now that you mention it, I can think of one smell that’s worse than male desperation’.
FIRE UP THAT LOUD, ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOTS.
‘Hypocrisy’.
TURN DOWN FOR WHAT.
OH PRISSY. QUEEN. QUEEEEEEEEEEN. OH WE STAN. WE STAN, QUEEN.
‘Apologise to Josie’.
Diana is right. OH, BUT I HATE THAT SHE’S SO UPSET WITH ANNE.
MAKE UP SOON, MY DAUGHTERS.
OH SNAP.
OH SNAP.
OH SNAP.
THAT SLAP.
THAT SLAP.
OH SNAP.
THAT SLAP.
HERE WE GO.
‘You’ve always been jealous of me. You couldn’t rise to my level so you brought me down to yours. Now I’m trash. Just like you’. OKAY HOLD UP.
WAIT.
HOLD ON ONE SECOND, MISS PYE.
OKAY LOOK, I GET IT. YOU’RE UPSET AND HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE. ANNE WAS WRONG.
BUT SERIOUSLY?
ANNE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO STUCK UP FOR YOU AND YOU KNOW IT. WHILE EVERYONE WAS TRASHING YOUR REP, ANNE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO DEFENDED YOU AND BELIEVED YOU.
YES, GILBERT’S STICKING UP FOR ANNE WITH MOODY.
OH NO, SHIRBERT ARE FIGHTING AGAIN. YIKES.
Yay, Anne and Miss Stacey are having a feminist discussion!!!! She agrees with Anne, but knows what she did was wrong.
Poor, Anne. I do feel bad for my baby. I know what she did was wrong, but my heart still aches for her.
Great, now the old white men what to cancel the newspaper.
OH NO, THEY DID NOT JUST BRING MARY INTO THIS.
OH NO, NO THEY DIDN’T.
NOW IT’S PERSONAL.
I HOPE RACHEL UNLEASHES HER INNER FEMINIST.
This cinematography though. You can FEEL how Rachel is feeling.
DIANA AND JERRY. THEY’RE DISCUSSING THE BOOK.
THEY’RE GETTING DEEP.
OH NO.
OH NO.
OH NO.
JERRY’S NOT DEEP ENOUGH FOR DIANA.
‘Well, you’re a handsome creature, you have that in your favour’. WAS THAT A COMPLIMENT OR NOT MISS BARRY.
‘I wonder if we could think of something else to do, instead of just talking?’ EXCUSE ME MISS DIANA BARRY. BUT YOU CONTINUE TO BE THE BOLDEST GIRL IN AVONLEA.
OH NO, JERRY IS SAD.
WHAT’S GOING ON WITH DIANA AND JERRY.
ARE THEY NOT COMPATIBLE?????
‘This is not about the newspaper. This is about men being uncomfortable with woman. With mondernity itself’. YES MISS STACEY. YOU GO MISS STACEY.
YES. FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
‘I reckon you’ve heard from about enough men on this topic’. MATTHEW. PURE SWEET ANGEL. THE ONLY MAN I TRUST.
OH NO. HERE COMES ANNE’S BREAKDOWN.
AT LEAST MATTHEW DIDN’T DIE.
THE STORYCLUB. OH THE FEELS.
“W.R.I.T (We rest in truth)”
THE FEELINGS.
I HAVE TOO MANY FEELINGS.

LOOK AT MY SON.
PRIDE IS NOT THE WORD I’M LOOKING FOR.
THERE IS SO MUCH MORE INSIDE ME NOW.
LOOK AT HIM.
HE’S SO PROUD.
READING HIS WIFE’S ARTICLE.
‘You know she’d stand up for any one of you, even despite what you’re saying about her. She’d do what was right. That’s who she really is’. OH I’M GOING TO CRY.
YES. LOVE AND APPRECIATE HER. MY DAUGHTER DESERVES THE WORLD.
Guys, what it going on with Diana and Jerry? Are they just not compatible beyond attraction?? What are the writers trying to tell us??????
YES PRISSY, GET YOUR INHERITANCE.
YOU’RE THE OLDEST AND THE BRIGHTEST AND MOST ESPECIALLY THE WISEST.
Uh, I’m sorry about your father Prissy, truly I am.
You deserve so much more.
SHIRBERT AHHHH.
WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH DIANA??
WHAT??
TELL ME!!
Yes Anne, now that’s a beautiful apology!!
‘No one but you is allowed to dictate what you’re worth’.
JOSIE STILL BE JOSIE.
GUYS, JERRY IS ASKING ANNE FOR DATING ADVICE.
DIDN’T WE ASK FOR THIS???
YEAH BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYY.
‘She seems to like the kissing part but not the part where we talk’. I’M GOING TO CRY. MY POOR BABY. ‘It makes me feel like I’m not good enough’. I’M GOING TO CRRRRRYYYYYYY.
When is Anne going to click????
‘I have never heard you humble yourself like this. It sounds like she’s degrading you’. OH SHOOT. ‘Frankly, she doesn’t sound like a very nice person’.YIKES.
YIIIIIIIKKKES.
WHO’S GONNA TELL HER????
‘DIANA? YOU AND DIANA?’
‘SHE DIDN’T TELL YOU? YOU SEE, SHE’S ASHAMED TO BE WITH ME!’
WOW.
THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY.
I MEAN THAT REALLY GOT OUT OF HAND FAST.
Can’t believe Jerry called Diana “his girl” tho
Sorry for going off topic.
Yes Josie, take those rags out!
OH NO.

‘I don’t want anything from you’. YES. I’M SO PROUD. ‘Least of all redemption’, MIC DROP.
DIANA IS HERE.
HERE WE GO.
HERE WE GO GUYS.
‘Who are you here to see. Me or Jerry?’
I’M HERE FOR THIS DRAMA.
‘It doesn’t mean anything’.
 EXCUSE ME MISS BARRY.
‘How can kissing someone repeatedly not mean anything?”
‘I don’t know. I thought the kisses meant something, but then they didn’t, but then I didn’t want them to stop’.
I KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP.
I KNEW IT.
I KNEEEEEWWW IT.
‘Yesterday, Jerry came to talk to me about a girl who was being cruel. Never in a million years did I think he was describing my truest friend. Who are you?’
‘I’m still me!’
NO I’M NOT HERE FOR THIS DRAMA.
I TAKE IT BACK.
I WANT THIS TO STOP.
‘I promise you. I should have never gotten involved with him. It’s ridiculous’.

LUCY AND FLIP GO LEGIT
S4;E1 ~ September 13, 1971
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Directed by Coby Ruskin ~ Written by Bob Carroll and Madelyn Davis
Synopsis
Lucy takes a temp assignment with Flip Wilson in order to answer his fan mail. When she is caught sneaking into Wilson's office to ask him a favor, she gets caught and fired.  The favor is to appear  in a community theatre production of Gone With The Wind – as Prissy.
Regular Cast
Lucille Ball (Lucy Carter), Gale Gordon (Harrison Otis Carter), Lucie Arnaz (Kim Carter)
Guest Cast
Tumblr media
Flip Wilson (Himself) was born in Jersey City, New Jersey as Clerow Wilson Jr. in 1933.  He was a comedian and actor, best known for his television appearances during the late 1960s and 1970s. In the early 1970s, Wilson hosted his own weekly variety series, “The Flip Wilson Show.” The series earned Wilson a Golden Globe and two Emmy Awards, and at one point was the second highest rated show on network television.  Wilson also won a Grammy Award in 1970 for his comedy album “The Devil Made Me Buy This Dress.” In January 1972, Time magazine featured Wilson's image on its cover and named him "TV's first black superstar." According to The New York Times, Wilson was "the first black entertainer to be the host of a successful weekly variety show on network television.”  Wilson had met Lucille Ball a year earlier on a Los Angeles broadcast of “The Tonight Show” as well as an episode of “The Ed Sullivan Show.” Perhaps Wilson's greatest creation was the sassy Geraldine Jones, whose catch phrase was “The devil made me do it!”  Wilson died in 1998.
Tumblr media
Kim Hamilton (Jane, Flip Wilson's Secretary) did more than 60 television shows and films during the 1960s and ‘70s alone.  She was in the film To Kill a Mockingbird in 1962.  She made two appearances on “My Three Sons” in 1963 and 1964 – both featuring William Frawley (Fred Mertz). Hamilton has the distinction of being the first Black actress to appear on TV's “Days of Our Lives.” She also was seen on the soaps “The Guiding Light” and “General Hospital.” Hamilton died in 2013 at age 81.
The secretary's first name is never spoken aloud.  Hamilton provides the DVD introduction to the episode.
Tumblr media
Starting with this episode, Coby Ruskin, who had directed two previous episodes, becomes the regular director of “Here's Lucy” and will direct nearly all (65) future episodes.
20 years earlier, when "I Love Lucy" began, the word 'pregnant' could not be said on television, but is spoken freely in this 1971 episode parody of 1860's Civil War era -- an ironic comment on American censorship.
This is the first episode of season 4 and the first without Desi Arnaz Jr. as a regular cast member.  Despite being the season premiere, Craig's absence is not explained. Later in the season we learn that that Craig is off at college.
Tumblr media
Starting with season 4, “Here's Lucy” switches production studios from Paramount to Universal.
Starting with this episode, “Here's Lucy” aired one hour later (still on Monday nights) and was no longer in competition with “Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In.” The show's new lead-in was “My Three Sons” starring Fred MacMurray, entering its 12th season on CBS.
This episode also introduces a re-orchestrated and slightly faster theme song. With the departure of her brother from the cast, Lucie Arnaz now has a title screen to herself in the opening credits.

This episode was first aired on Mel Torme's 51st birthday.  Torme played the role of Mel Tinker on several episodes of “The Lucy Show.”
Bob Carroll, Jr. and Madelyn Davis return to the series’ rotation of writers and the show is given a tremendous boost. Not only is logic reintroduced into the storylines, but the relationships between Lucy and her co-stars become more natural; Harry and Lucy begin to show each other more affection; and Kim is allowed to mature out of the typical teen stereotype. Unfortunately, the pair only contributes a little over one-third of the Season Four scripts.
Although it is never explicitly stated, Flip Wilson and his office are preparing for his weekly television variety show.

Between the The Three Musketeers and Gone With the Wind, Flip Wilson spends the entire episode in costumes.  The Three Musketeers is a historical novel by Alexandre Dumas. Set in 1625–28, it recounts the adventures of a young man named d'Artagnan after he leaves home to travel to Paris, to join the Musketeers of the Guard. Although d'Artagnan is not able to join this elite corps immediately, he befriends the three most formidable musketeers of the age—Athos, Porthos and Aramis—and gets involved in affairs of the state and court. The novel was filmed and staged dozens of times, with the most famous being a 1943 film starring Gene Kelly.  A 1935 version featured Lucille Ball in a small, uncredited role.
For the small screen version Flip is rehearsing Rock Hudson is Anthos, Andy Williams is Porthos, Flip says he is the ‘token’ musketeer. Actually, he would be Aramis.  Hudson had appeared on a 1955 episode of “I Love Lucy.”  To make Lucy prove she is not Andy Williams, she sings the first three notes of “Moon River,” a song that became Williams' theme tune.
On the telephone, Jane talks to someone named Mr. Rayfiel about taking some paperwork to mimeo.  Howard Rayfiel was a Production Executive for “Here's Lucy” from 1970 to 1972.

When Lucy returns to Wilson's office in disguise as a Musketeer, Wilson thinks Lucy wants another autograph for trading purposes: two Flip Wilsons for one Bill Cosby.  Bill Cosby was another African American comedian who had great success in the late 1960's and 1970's.

There is a record album standing up on the desk titled “The Devil Made Me Wear this Dress” by Geraldine Jones. This Flip Wilson comedy album was sold in 1970 and won a Grammy Award in the comedy category.

Gone with the Wind was a historical novel written by Margaret Mitchell in 1936 but set in the deep south during the Civil War. The book was translated into one of the most famous films of all time in 1939 starring Clark Gable as Rhett Butler and Vivian Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara.

Prissy was played by Butterfly McQueen and Melanie was played by Olivia de Havilland.

Like most of the top actors in Hollywood, Lucille Ball had an audition for the role of Scarlett O'Hara. Although Lucille Ball did not get cast, actors who did get roles in the film and later worked with Lucille Ball included: George Reeves (Superman, ILL), Olin Howland (Mr. Skinner, ILL), Irving Bacon (Mr. Potter, ILL), Shep Houghton (HL), Alberto Morin (ILL), and Hans Moebus (ILL & TLS).

Harry has joined Encino Players, a little theatre troupe that has cast him as Rhett Butler in a capsule stage version of Gone With The Wind. As the curtain goes up, the soundtrack plays the sweeping and iconic “Tara's Theme” from the film, which was written by Max Steiner.

Under her cape Prissy has on an Abraham Lincoln t-shirt.  When Scarlet asks if that's a photograph of President Lincoln, Prissy replies “Well, it ain't Ray Charles!”  Ray Charles was a singer-songwriter who had great success during the 1960s. While he was with ABC, Charles became one of the first black musicians to be granted artistic control by a mainstream record company.

In return for appearing on “Here's Lucy,” Lucille Ball appeared on “Flip” (aka “The Flip Wilson Show”) in an episode that aired just three days after this "Here’s Lucy.”
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball's protege Carol Burnett, who appeared frequently on “The Lucy Show” and “Here's Lucy,” did a famous parody of Gone With The Wind in November 1976.  In the sketch titled “It Went with the Wind,” Carol played Starlet, Harvey Korman played Ratt Butler, Vicky Lawrence played Sissy, and Tim Conway played Brashley.  Not coincidentally, earlier in the month the film was shown for the first time on television.

The dress worn by Lucille Ball in the Gone with the Wind sketch was previously worn by her in episode “Lucy and Arthur Godfrey (TLS S3;E23). It also appeared briefly during previous year in "Lucy and  Carol Burnett" (S3;E22).
Tumblr media
In “Lucy Writes a Novel” (ILL S3;E24) Lucy Ricardo says “My novel may turn out to be another ‘Gone with the Wind’!“  She compares Ricky to Rhett Butler and herself to Scarlett O'Hara.
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball not only got to play the role that went to Vivian Leigh, but she also played Clark Gable (wearing a mask) during “Lucy Meets Harpo Marx” (ILL S4;E28) to convince near-sighted Carolyn Appleby that she hobnobbed with celebrities.
Tumblr media
Kim Carter had a poster of Clark Gable on her bedroom wall in “Lucy and the Andrews Sisters” (S2;E6).

Anne With An E
S03e07 “A Strong Effort of the Spirit of Good”
- Anne my love, your heart is in the right place but this won’t end well
- My heart breaks for Josie. No one deserves this and her parents can choke on their bullshit
- Prissy what an icon! I’m so happy to see her grow and mature. Knowledge is power and I’m so happy she went to university, returning confident and sure of her measure. Truly the only redeeming member of the Andrews family (we were rooting for you Jane)
- jdkckskck A n n e. Lashing out at Gilbert while understandable isn’t exactly fair, but I assume it’s going to wake him up to taking an active stance on this issue
- ooooooooh Mrs. Rachael Lynde. The way this scene is shot truly adds to the mounting feeling of being talked over and ganged up on, and every single one of these sentient pile of bones needs to shut the fuck up and sit down. Truly the pinnacle of old white men stupidity, a fine example
- Derry! Look at them hand in hand. And discussing the book they both read is so cute. Poor Jerry though, obviously he wouldn’t pick up on all the subtlety in the classic, he’s only just learned to read English!
- “at least you’re a handsome creature, you have that in your favour” - I... Diana wtf? That’s so needlessly cruel. He’s so fucking smart and he looks so disappointed. This boy loves her So Much and I don’t know if she matches his affections
- oh look at that. The old white (misogynistic racist sexist piece of shits-) men are attempting to control the narrative. Shocking.
- side note, where is Ka’kwet? My beautiful daughter please let someone help her and all the rest of the children trapped in the hellscape of the residential schools
- “I reckon you’ve heard enough from men on this topic” Matthew Cuthbert once again proving he is one of the only males with any braincells
- speaking of, where is Bash I miss him. Where is Cole?!?
- w-what is she planning?? Honestly I can’t wait for my daughter to Fuck Shit Up. It’s time
- Moody I trusted you.
- Gilbert Blythe my Son I Love You. Defending your wife and what is right I’m so proud
- (but also... it’s amazing that he defended her and the shirbirt power grows but it still took a male saying it to convince people. And this still happens today and it’s fucking bullshit all of it)
- Moody you’re on thin fucking ice but Ruby and him and adorable and also Ruby I adore you
- Anne’s article is amazing and beautiful and I want to read the entire thing
- .... not liking where this is going with Diana and Jerry
- Prissy! Prissy I Love You! I’m going to scream, she’s so strong and capable and her family is holding her back
- Marilla’s on board with Anne’s plan, thank you For This
- Yes Anne! You have always been worthy of love. This conversation is So Good
- Yes! The Anne and Jerry sibling dynamic we have been denied for so long! He’s coming to her for romantic advice this is so cute. Even if the content is awful. I love Jerry so much he deserves the world
- ahhhhhhhhhhgbghhhhggg Not Great!!!
- Marilla and Matthew supporting their daughter, the gift that never stops giving
- Yes Josie! It’s a small fact of defiance but it’s There and I’m so proud of her
- oh Fuck you Billy. Yes Josie!!! I’m so proud!!!!!
- oh No. don’t do this, please not my daughters.
- this scene is fucking Heartbreaking
- this scene is Heartbreaking!! They both are making horrible mistakes and Diana throwing away the locket is devastating.
- How many times will I say it. Prissy is a goddess and I Love her
-heheheh. Shirbirt I love them So Much!!! I’m so excited for this both their development for and whatever Anne is planning
- Prissy is quickly becoming one of my favourite minor characters and I want to see more of her
- The youth are taking action and the future into their own hands, and isn’t that topical
- this demonstration is Everything. Josie is here! This is giving me Chills this message is so important. Also the minister literally trying to rip free speech from the hands of the youth, amazing. Gilbert ripping the suggestions? Amazing. Everything about this is just perfect
- Prissy and Josie talking... idk where that’s going but I like it
- Gilbert looking at Anne from across the room? Poetic cinema
- ahhhhhhh them on the porch is so Good. Not having anything to argue over, him bringing up the spelling bee. Askcjsbfj you Cannot tell me they weren’t about to kiss. Poor Gilbert he’s so Confused and poor Anne
- what the fuck. What the fuck are these dodgy pursues of shit doing. Stealing the printing press. Oh fuck, the cigar, it’s the ministers. Holy Shit the school is going to catch fire
Final Thoughts:
I really like the messages of this season, and I really like the growth and development of the characters. I can’t wait for Gilbert to realize that while Ms. Whitney Rose is a lovely person, she’s not Anne, not his lifemate and partner in every aspect of his life. Diana and Anne’s breakup is heartbreaking but I know that once that they get passed this and learn and grow, their bond will be stronger than ever before. I’m excited to see Diana’s point of view next episode, but I really hope she comes to understand that she was in the wrong and apologizes to Jerry for how she treated him, and her and Anne have an actual conversation about the issues brought up, and that they come to understand each other better. I don’t know what to expect from the next episode, but it will be interesting to see what the fallout for the monsters Burning Down The School has. Side note, I just tried to type ministers and spell check corrected it to monsters but I’m leaving that because honestly, They Are. Also, save Ka’kwet!! This is so important to me and I really hope they don’t gloss over the absolute horrors and Atrocities committed at the Residental Schools. But I trust Moira and the writers, and the casts brilliant acting as usual, and can’t wait for the next episode
