#23. “Like my name that much, do you…? Moan it then… Moan my name, [insert pet-name]…”
Warnings: NSFW, 18+!!, One bed troupe, enemies to lovers vibes, future implied smut, smut, fingering, thigh grinding, wet dreams, degrading kink, praise kink, etc.
Enjoy (;
Melissa had really been looking forward to PECSA weekend. Until Barbara had invited you to join their drinking party.
It’s not like the two of you hated each other. It’s just that you were both very opinionated and couldn’t have a conversation without somehow butting heads. For one, you were from Cleveland. And that was all Melissa needed to know to not like you.
“Uh no no no, Barb…” Melissa complained, “I’m not letting my weekend get ruined by *Ohio*…”
Ohio was Melissa’s nickname for you…
“Now Melissa…” Barbara chided, “You will let Y/N join us. She’s new in town and to the school, she shouldn’t be all on her own at PECSA…”
Melissa grumbled a bit more about it, but eventually gave way.
~~~
“Oh Hell No…!” Melissa exclaimed, shaking her head.
“I’m sorry, miss, it’s the only room left available at the moment…” the hotel check-in attendant said.
You gulped and blushed.
“Barb please…” Melissa looked to the poised kindergarten teacher for help.
“Oh no, I’m sorry Melissa, but I need my private time…” Barbara told the desperate red head, shaking her head.
The red head groaned in frustration.
“I am not sharing a room with her…!” Melissa growled in a low tone to Barbara.
But you heard the woman…
Eventually, she gave in, as there were no other options. You all got into the elevator and traveled up to your rooms. Barbara’s room ended up being right next to yours and Melissa’s.
“Shall we say the pool bar in 45 minutes?” Barbara suggested.
You both nodded in agreement, entering your shared room. Melissa slammed the door behind you as she huffed. But you stood still in your tracks. You gulped at the sight in front of you.
There was only one bed…
As Melissa came to your side, her eyes widened at the same realization.
“Oh Fuck No…” she murmured, carrying her things in reluctantly.
“It’s fine, I uh… I can sleep on the floor…”
She looked at you quizzically.
“No. That’s disgusting. It’s fine. We’ll share.” She huffed.
“And I’ll just get hammered anyways to not remember…” she murmured to herself.
~~~
The night went by and Melissa did indeed have a lot of alcohol, but so did you. By the end of the night, you both crashed into your room and immediately collapsed on the bed. Melissa was quick to establish her side of the bed, before promptly turning away from you. You were worn out and quickly faded into a slumber after that.
~~~
“You're so wet, baby… Is that all for me…?” The woman cooed, teasing your drenched folds with her fingers and holding your legs wide open.
You bit down on your lip to muffle a moan trying to escape your lips, you nodded vigorously and panted heavily.
“Obviously it's for me… You're my little whore, aren't you?” She lustfully sneered, sliding her two digits back into your sensitive cunt.
You gasped at the sensation and her words, mewling in pleasurable overstimulation.
“I’m such a good fuck that you can't get enough of me, can you?”
“Yes yes yes…!! Please pleaseeee—!” You chanted, arching your back into her form as her fingers pounded into you. Your hips began to grind against her hand… hard…
“Such a cum slut… You would do anything to get fucked…” the woman wickedly purred.
You nodded vigorously, approaching another high quite quickly.
“You wanna cum…?” She taunted, “Say my name… Say it…”
“Mel…!” You mewl.
“Louder.”
“Melissa…!!” You cry out.
“Good slut… Cum with my name on your tongue…” the red head growls.
“Fuck— MELISSA!!” You scream, cumming all over her fingers.
~~~
You suddenly jolt awake, trembling and all hot. You look at the clock.
3:37am
You then gasp as you feel a hand on your arm. You turn around to find Melissa starring at you. She moves slightly and your breath hitches as you feel your core on her thigh. And your dripping… All over your thighs… and hers… You gulp and go red.
“I… I’m so sorry…” you whisper, immediately retracting yourself and keeping to your side of the bed.
“Nice dream…?” She chuckled.
“Shut up…” you mumbled, going an even darker shade of red.
“You know… you were talking in your sleep…” she continued.
Your eyes widened slightly. Shit shit shit… This was all becoming too much.
“You were whimpering… a name… my name.” Melissa continued.
“Fuck you. Fuck you, Melissa.” You seethed through gritted tone.
At that, the red head tugged you to the middle of the bed, pinning you below her. You yelped, but she shut you up by smashing her lips into yours.
“That’s what I’m trying to do...” she growled.
You tried to contain the moan threatening to escape your lips. Melissa then suddenly backed away, backing herself up against the headboard. You rolled back up and we’re now in between her legs. You looked at the red head in anticipation.
“Why don’t you make even more of a mess on my thighs…?” The red head taunted.
You gulped breathlessly and nodded. You quickly straddled the woman’s thigh and began grinding against it. She tensed her thigh and you mewled out in pleasure.
“Like that, baby…?” Melissa taunted.
You nodded vigorously. Suddenly, you felt the woman’s hand stabilize your sides and start really rutting you against her thigh. You were a desperate, slick mess.
“Like my name that much, do you…? Moan it then… Moan my name, baby…” The red head growled.
“Melissa please Oh God—!!” You cried out.
The red head brought you over your edge on her thigh, leaving you a panting mess. You went to lay back down, but Melissa stopped you.
“Oh, we aren’t done, Sweet girl…” the red head chuckled.

Okay, so. I've got a LOT of thoughts about the Catholic Munsons post that's going around and I really wanna talk about it because I think it's SO interesting so I'm going to post about it here so I'm not clogging up the tags on that post (and I'm probably going to end up turning it into a little bit of a hellcheer thing because it plays a bit of a role in one of my upcoming wips).
Fair warning, this post is really fucking long and really fucking rambly. I had Thoughts and they. Refused to stop, so just,, bear with me!!
My Catholic father grew up around this same time near Cleveland, Ohio in a little town that's maybe half the size of what Hawkins is projected to be according to the fandom wiki page. He attended a parochial school for elementary and I think middle school, and the majority of his friends growing up were either Jewish or Catholic. When I asked him today about the distribution/ratio of Jewish to Catholic to Presbyterian in that area (since my research wasn't quite answering my questions), he told me that he was probably in middle school before he actually realized that there were other religions besides Jewish, Catholic, and whatever denominations the African American churches in the area were.
Because of this and the general notion that Catholicism is/has been somewhat more prominent in the northern/northeastern and, like, some of the more northern midwestern United States (if that makes sense), I've always imagined that Hawkins, being a decently sized (10-15K according to the wiki page) town pretty close to Indianapolis (around 80 miles, again according to the wiki page), would have a pretty solid Catholic community, so it's always kind of surprised me to see so many people write the Cunningham family, for example, as attending a Presbyterian church (although it is entirely possible, but more on that later).
Okay so now my actual thoughts on the Catholic!Munsons:
Since the pictures from the Munson trailer (and I love that it's been a year and we're still finding new stuff in there) show that calendar, we know that if Wayne did purchase it intentionally, then he's most likely gotta be actively Christian. However, I don’t see Wayne as the attending-mass-every-week type of Catholic -- he strikes me as Too Tired For That Shit. My personal headcanon is that he’s Christian, and was probably raised Catholic, but he only really attends mass for Christmas and Easter (not even for other Holy Days of Obligation). I guess to put it in shorter words, I see it as Wayne is definitely Christian, but he’s Catholic for convenience, meaning he believes in god but would prefer to do it privately and on his own terms (like, idk, praying on his own and displaying his faith through his actions) rather than having to deal with the church and its members, and he just continues to go to mass occasionally because it’s what he grew up with so he’s used to it and there’s no point in fixing something if it ain’t broke.
But Eddie. Oh, Eddie. If Wayne grew up Catholic, then so did Eddie’s dad. Since Eddie's dad is, like, y’know, an asshole, I think he’d be the sort of Catholic that’s a total hypocrite and gives the entire Catholic Church a bad name. Eddie’s mom could be Catholic, she could be Presbyterian, she could be Jewish, it really doesn’t matter (though I do see a lot of people headcanoning her as Jewish and I do kinda really like that headcanon).
If Eddie’s dad is Catholic, then it’s possible that Eddie could have attended a parochial school, but it could go either way. One: maybe he didn’t because his mom is Jewish/non-Catholic or just because his parents didn’t feel the need to send him to one, or two: he did attend a parochial school, at least for a little bit. However, since we know that Eddie and Chrissy attended the same school for middle school, there are also two ways that this can go. One is that Chrissy also attended the same parochial school and the talent show they talk about in the forest scene in 4.01 occurred at said parochial middle school. The other is that Eddie did attend a parochial school for a while but got kicked out and sent to Hawkins Middle School, where he then participates in the talent show. (I also think the concept of Eddie getting kicked out of a Catholic school and sent to a public school -- whatever the reason may be -- would add to his reputation and image as A Freak or Mean And Scary because did you hear that the weird new kid got kicked out of his other school? will always spawn rumors.)
In regards to Eddie’s personal beliefs, I think he’s kind of similar to Wayne, but also not. Whereas I see Wayne as “Catholic for convenience”, I see Eddie as more of just “Christian for convenience”, which to me just means that he’s not really sure what he believes, but when it comes down to it, he’ll say sure, I guess I believe that there is A God because it’s a little easier and a little less terrifying to believe in Something than it is to believe in Nothing. I don’t personally see Eddie as an atheist, because to me, he seems like he would be the kind of person that wants to believe in something, but he doesn’t like to spend too long thinking about what exactly it is that he believes in (in regard to there being a higher power) because it’ll send him spiraling into some sort of existential crisis. Which, same.
I do think that Eddie would become disenchanted with and disconnected from the Catholic church as an entity/community, because I definitely think he disagrees with a LOT of the stuff that the church preaches/believes. Also, since Eddie’s a big fat nerd and I headcanon him as a major literature buff, I think he’s definitely read the Bible (and probably the Catholic Catechism as well) so that he can 1) call out aforementioned hypocritical Catholics/Christians and 2) get inspiration for writing campaigns and/or songs.
Somewhat unrelated, but in the one (upcoming) fic I have right now that bothers to explore the religious sides of the characters, I have Eddie attending mass with Wayne for Christmas, but it's an anomaly for him and he grumbles about it the whole time. (It's for plot purposes and he doesn't like it.)
And then of course, Eddie's probably really interested in the stories of some of the saints and martyrs because some of them are pretty fuckin' metal. I also think he's super interested in religious iconography and metaphors for some reason, and loves finding those references and metaphors in songs and books.
Side note: I don't necessarily think that being Catholic is something that would have Othered Eddie (and Wayne) in Hawkins, especially if there is a strong Catholic population, but I do think that because of Eddie's non-conformist attitude and apparent general disdain for authority, he would have been Othered by the church (or rather its parishioners) and probably therefore deemed Freak, Satanist, etc.
I also think there’s something to be said about Eddie being put in an almost Christ-like shepherd position with his freshman sheepies. Also, the sentiment expressed in Mark 2:17 feels vaguely Eddie-like. (For those not familiar, this occurs when Jesus is asked by the pharisees and officials why he associates and eats with tax collectors and sinners, to which he replies “it is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.”) However, I think that Eddie’s thing is less redeeming the sinners and more giving the excluded and ostracized a place to be included and treated well. But I digress.
Now, Chrissy. Dearest, loveliest Chrissy. While it is totally plausible that the Cunninghams are Presbyterian or Evangelical Christian or something else, miss girl has mega Repressed Catholic Girl Energy, so I’ve been headcanoning her family as Catholic. I definitely think Laura would use Catholicism (or Christianity in general) as a large tool in her attempts to control Chrissy and dictate her life. So like, because Catholicism is more strict/regimented/structured compared to other denominations like Baptist or Presbyterian, I think Laura would try to use it to make Chrissy’s life more strict/regimented/structured. (And also there’s the Guilt™️. Chrissy seems like the type of gal to be crippled by Catholic guilt.)
I’ve got this image in my head that I hope to be able to express in that upcoming wip I mentioned where Chrissy, once her mother (and Jason) starts trying to control her and obsess over her body, somehow equates the general “be Christ-like” thing with “Take this and eat of it; for this is my body, which has been given up for you” (which, again, for those unfamiliar with the proceedings of a Catholic mass, this is something that the priest says in regards to the Eucharist/communion wafers; it’s a reference to the last supper when Jesus broke bread and shared it with his disciples.) so she ends up letting her mother control her because that’s what she thinks is the right thing to do in order to “be Christ-like” and gain approval.
And then I know a lot of people headcanon Jason as the pastor’s son. In a story where they aren’t written as explicitly Catholic, I do like this headcanon because I think it would explain a lot about his character. However, in a setting where they are written as Catholic, I think Jason would be of the hypocritical sort. (He’ll preach the Bible at anyone he disagrees with, but then will turn around and completely disregard anything said about premarital sex, love thy neighbor, love thy enemy, etc. Essentially the sort of Christian that twists what’s said in the Bible to suit their needs and ignores the parts that they disagree with -- which is exactly the kind of person I think Eddie would read the entire Bible to be able to argue with.)

Brooklyn High School in suburban Cleveland, Ohio hosted a 1:30 p.m. rock ‘n’ roll concert that featured Bill Haley And His Comets, Pat Boone, LaVern Baker, Roy Hamilton, Johnnie Ray, the Four Lads and up-and-coming artist Elvis Presley. The concert was filmed for a documentary about Cleveland radio legend Bill Randle, “The Pied Piper of Cleveland: A Day in the Life of a Famous Disc Jockey.” But the film, which includes the first known footage of Elvis performing, has never been released.
At 8 p.m., the same artists performed at St. Michaels Hall in Cleveland. Randle later recalled that the climax of that show was when Elvis broke the strings on his guitar and then smashed the guitar on the floor. “It was mass hysteria. We needed police to get him out of the hall.”
While Elvis did two shows on this day: First he appeared at the Brooklyn High School Auditorium, Cleveland at 1.30 p.m. This show was put together by Bill Randle, the DJ from of Cleveland. While a TV Cleveland broadcast may have occurred of “The Pied Piper of Cleveland aka Day in the Life of a Disc Jockey” – the footage is deemed lost to a private collector.
1950s radio personality Bill Randle was in competition with other radio personalities like Alan Freed. (the DJ era ended with the payola scandal – Enter: Program Directors, Music Playlist Services, the end of local talent in regions to national to international monoculture).
Randle introduces Elvis on the Dorsey Brothers and compares Elvis to Johnny Ray (rockers vs crooners – gimme a break pfft eh), but he mentions that the first time HE met Elvis was making a movie short – a Day in the Life of a Disc Jockey aka The Pied Piper of Cleveland.
So. There are 2 potential sources to see Elvis Presley pwn Pat Boone’s stage – with Boone on the national charts and Elvis only in the regional ones. In professional film stock – probably 16mm not 35.
Bill Randle (estate) or someone else in the production of the short.
Cleveland TV – it was apparently broadcast – which means, there might be the 1 inch tape run during controversial broadcast in cast of regulatory complaints – and either recorded over or archived.
Gladys and Vernon Presley signed a telegram provided by Tom Diskin granting Colonel Parker “sole and exclusive” representation of their son.

How not to deny something
Rep Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband Jayson Boebert had minor domestic dispute at a restaurant on Saturday in Silt, Colorado.
In a statement to The Denver Post from her campaign manager, Boebert said, “This is a sad situation for all that keeps escalating and another reason I’m moving. I didn’t punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested.”
I think I would have said
Jayson and I were married for 18 years. We have been blessed with four sons and one grandchild. When a marriage like this must end, it's not surprising that emotions run high. Neither of us was arrested. Neither of us was cited by police. Neither of us wants the other prosecuted. Mostly, we want to resolve our differences amicably and privately.
Rep Boebert is a lightning rod for every leftist and elitist in the country. If you drink beer, you probably like her. If you can imagine saying "what a delightful chablis," you probably hate her. Either way, the Denver Post and papers like it have been fervently praying for her to lose an election.

9 Hilarious Pranks To Pull On The FBI Agents Tapped Into Your Phone Line
Try a few of these classic pranks the next time you're on the phone:
Say the school board protest has been moved somewhere else: When the FBI sends a whole SWAT team to the wrong location, they'll look SO STUPID! HA!
Mess with their heads by saying "Trump is an insurrectionist dictator" alongside "Trump is our savior": They won't know whose side you're on.
Say "Hey, FBI agent, is your refrigerator running?": When they answer "Yes," then say "Well, you better go catch it!" then hang up and laugh. GOT 'EM!
Identify yourself as Hunter Biden and pretend you're ordering a Ukrainian hooker: They'll hang up faster than you can say "bribery scam."
Sing a few bars of a Beatles song every few minutes so they can't play the recording in court: Licensing fees cost a fortune.
Create a fake accomplice named "Mike Rotch": They'll have to officially enter it into court records and it'll be read out loud. It'll be hilarious.
Say "Hey, are those some catholic nuns over there across the street praying at the abortion clinic? Why, I do believe they are!": Then sit back and watch those guys go crazy falling over themselves to go tackle some old ladies.
Call anyone on January 6th and say "The plan is a go. Execute Operation MAGA.": This one is a lot of fun, but you may end up in solitary for a few decades.
Say "asphinchtersayswhat": What?
If you're going to be under federal surveillance, you might as well get a few laughs out of it along the way. Have fun!

Drugs are cool!
COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) - A 16-year-old student was arrested after police say he assaulted his teacher. A few minutes after 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Colerain Township police said school resource officers were notified that a teacher was assaulted by her teen student inside a Colerain High School classroom. An initial investigation led officers to find out the student “ingested an unknown drug” before becoming “distraught,” Colerain Township police wrote in their report. The 16-year-old then assaulted the teacher and a classmate before running out of the classroom, police explained. The teacher was punched “multiple times in the head,” according to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office. The teacher was taken by EMS to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. At the hospital, the prosecutor’s office said the teacher had her skull cap removed to prevent damage from swelling. The Cleveland Clinic describes this as a “major brain surgery.” Family members tell FOX19 NOW she has yet to wake up. Responding officers later found the 16-year-old student in the school’s career center lobby, the police report states. The student appeared to be hallucinating and had a self-inflicted head injury**** https://www.fox19.com/2024/01/05/colerain-hs-student-arrested-after-teacher-assaulted-classroom/

There's trashy, and then there's
A Missouri teacher has been charged with statutory rape for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student while other students served as “lookouts” — with the boy’s father also facing a felony charge for condoning the disturbing relationship. Laquey High School math teacher Hailey Clifton-Carmack, 26, was arrested in Garden Ridge, Texas, on Friday after she “was suspected of fleeing the State of Missouri” to avoid arrest warrants, according to law enforcement. Allegations of the sex crimes committed by Clifton-Carmack first arose on Dec. 7, 2023.*** Clifton-Carmack — a recently divorced mother of two — would often wear “tight or low-cut shirts” to show off her “headlights” and “tight leggings that ‘showed off her camel toe,’” according to court documents.  The witness told investigators the victim was the reason “her divorce was pushed through” and that “Hailey had wanted a divorce due to her husband only wanting to ‘do butt stuff,'” the court document revealed.*** In a shocking twist, new charges have been brought against the boy’s father, who allegedly revealed to others that he was aware of his son’s illicit relationship with the teacher. Mark Creighton was arrested on Thursday on charges of endangering the welfare of a child. On Wednesday, a second witness revealed they told the teen’s father of the alleged wrongdoings, to which he replied he was aware Clifton-Carmack and his 16-year-old son were in a “sexual relationship,” according to court documents.*** The father also allegedly shared he knew that his son and the math teacher used other students as “lookouts” to have sex during school hours. Creighton “knew of the relationship of his minor child and the 26-year-old teacher, and instead of reporting the information, he continued to cover for them and allowed the relationship to continue” and “even allowed Hailey to come over to his residence and see the victim while he was present,” according to prosecutors.*** https://nypost.com/2024/01/09/news/missouri-teacher-slapped-with-rape-charges-after-having-sex-with-teen-while-using-other-students-as-lookouts-boys-dad-busted-for-allowing-relationship-docs/

Canada rocks!

https://ottawacitizen.com/news/national/defence-watch/military-police-threaten-to-charge-sex-worker-who-offers-discounts-to-canadian-soldiers
Military police are threatening to charge a sex worker who offers discounts to Canadian soldiers and senior leaders are warning troops to stay away from the Kingston-area woman. But such efforts have backfired and sex worker Christina Lea Gilchrist tells this newspaper that she is being inundated with messages from military personnel interested in the services she provides. The selling of sex in Canada is legal but military police allege Gilchrist broke the law with the “unlawful use of military uniforms,” according to police documents. “Upon review of your website, it was noticed that you were not only advertising your services wearing a military uniform which is a controlled piece of clothing, but also displaying other parties engaging in sexual acts while also in uniform,” military police stated in a message sent to Gilchrist on Dec. 18. But Gilchrist, who offers discounts to Canadian Forces personnel, pointed out she has repeatedly stated in her advertising that she is not nor has never been a member of any military. “I’ve never walked around in public pretending to be a soldier,” she explained. “People in movies dressed up as soldiers aren’t impersonating soldiers, so why do (military police) think that I am?”***
To be fair, we generally don't let private entities use our uniforms in advertising. If you look at the NFCU commercial with two Marines chasing a card thief, their name and service tapes are blurred.

United States and California Announce Diesel Engine Manufacturer Cummins Inc. Agrees to Pay a Record $1.675 Billion Civil Penalty in Vehicle Test Cheating Settlement
The Justice Department, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Air Resources Board (CARB) and California Attorney General’s Office today released the details of a proposed settlement with diesel engine maker Cummins Inc. for alleged violations of the Clean Air Act and California law. Beyond agreeing to pay a $1.675 billion civil penalty – the largest ever assessed in a Clean Air Act case – Cummins has agreed to spend more than $325 million to remedy the violations, which included the use of software “defeat devices” that circumvented emissions testing and certification requirements. Under the settlement, Cummins must complete a nationwide vehicle recall to repair and replace the engine control software in more than 600,000 RAM 2500 and RAM 3500 pickup trucks equipped with the company’s diesel engines. Cummins will also extend the warranty period for certain parts in the repaired vehicles, fund and perform projects to mitigate excess ozone-creating nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted from the vehicles and employ new internal procedures designed to prevent future emissions cheating. In total, the settlement is valued at more than $2 billion.*** “Cummins installed illegal defeat devices on more than 600,000 RAM pickup trucks, which exposed overburdened communities across America to harmful air pollution,” said Assistant Administrator David M. Uhlmann of EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance. “This record-breaking Clean Air Act penalty demonstrates that EPA is committed to holding polluters accountable and ensuring that companies pay a steep price when they break the law.” *** https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/united-states-and-california-announce-diesel-engine-manufacturer-cummins-inc-agrees-pay

Other people get flattened, but Ray gets straight probation?
An Arizona man at the center of the Capitol attack’s most persistent conspiracy theories was sentenced Tuesday to a year of probation for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot.  Ray Epps, 62, pleaded guilty in September to one count as part of a deal with Justice Department prosecutors. He admitted to engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds after storming the Capitol.*** Epps was also ordered Tuesday to pay $500 in restitution and to serve 100 hours of community service.  Prosecutors requested six months in prison for Epps, who they said engaged in a “rugby scrum-like group effort” to shove past police officers.*** https://thehill.com/homenews/4397624-ray-epps-jan-6-conspiracy-theories-sentenced/
Is it still a theory if he receives the lightest sentence so far? https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/media/1331746/dl?inline looks like only one other defendant received only a year probation, Eliel Rosa. Some people, e.g., Christopher Worrell, received 10 years in prison.

A former Oregon Department of Human Services employee, Zakary Glover, 30, pleaded guilty [Jan. 9, 2023] to violating the civil rights of a woman with developmental disabilities who was in his care by engaging in sexual misconduct with her.*** Glover worked as a direct support crisis specialist for the Office of Developmental Disabilities Stabilization and Crisis Unit. On Nov. 2, 2021, Glover transported an adult woman in his care to an outing in Salem, Oregon. The victim suffers from severe autism and epilepsy, cognitive delays and very limited verbal ability. Staff members responsible for her care communicate by showing her picture books, displaying YouTube videos or drawing pictures. During the outing, Glover detoured down a dead-end road in Aumsville, Oregon. Glover parked the van and then, using force, attempted to and did cause the victim to engage in a sexual act without her consent. After doing so, Glover forcefully grabbed her and then positioned his body in a way that allowed him to attempt to force her into another non-consensual sexual act. Glover admitted that the victim did not consent to any of the sexual activity. Among other offenses, his conduct constituted attempted aggravated sexual abuse. A sentencing hearing is set for April 30. *** https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/former-oregon-state-employee-pleads-guilty-federal-civil-rights-charges-after-violating

Notre Dame College of Ohio
4545 College Rd.
South Euclid, OH
Notre Dame College (Notre Dame College of Ohio or NDC) is a private Roman Catholic college in South Euclid, Ohio, established in the summer of 1922 on Ansel Road in Cleveland by the Sisters of Notre Dame as a women's college under the guidance of Mother M. Cecilia Romen, SND.  Later that year, Mother Mary Evarista Harks, SND, became NDC's first president (1922–1943). In its early years the college had a faculty population of 9 and a full-time student enrollment of 13 women and 11 novices; in addition 30 students were enrolled in extension courses.  In June 1923, the Sisters of Notre Dame leased 39 acres along Green Road in South Euclid to build a new campus and purchased 15 acres in 1924
     On June 15, 1925, NDC conferred its first graduating class in the form of two-year teaching certificates. In the following year, 14 students received their bachelor's degrees and state certificates to teach in Ohio high schools; becoming NDC's first graduating class of four-year college degrees.  Construction of the campus began in the fall of 1926 and opened on Sept. 17, 1928.  The college later bought the 39 leased acres in 1933. The college was originally located in a single building and expanded over time, Harks Hall was built in 1955 to house resident students with two other residence halls built in the 1960s. NDC constructed the Clara Fritzsche Library in 1971 and the Keller Center in 1987.
     Notre Dame College was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 8, 1983.  It has been coeducational since January 2001.  The Sisters of Notre Dame ended their sponsorship of the college in 2023.   Notre Dame College offers 30 majors and individually designed majors and confers undergraduate and graduate degrees through five academic divisions. The college had a total enrollment of 1,106 undergraduate students in fall 2020. The 48-acre main academic and residential campus is located 10 miles east of Cleveland in South Euclid.  While the majority of Notre Dame's students are from Ohio, the student body represents 35 states and 21 countries. The college offers a number of extracurricular activities to its students, including athletics, honor societies, clubs, student organizations, and athletics.

French European Concert Organist? 🦿 👋 🫵 🕰
I declared a major in Piano and Organ [Performance] at Loyola University New Orleans, when the year started, as well as having been accepted to minor in Ballet (but they put me in intermediate) and Vocal and Instrumental Music Education.
They said to chose Piano or Organ and either Performance or Education. I chose Piano and Education.
At the end of the year, I was told to do Organ Performance maybe or leave music, not allowed otherwise, like in any Education for some reason or Singing nor Piano as my major instrument. I know I fell behind in Piano after getting an A 1st semester, in the library for like an hour or longer to complete easy homework with listening for Introduction to Music Literature, maybe 2 days a week. I took 21 credit hours and most were music. 1st semester was 19 credit hours. 21 was their maximum. The piano literature was boring and hard, and my teacher didn't say anything.
I know my organ teacher who went to Oberlin, where I went to an organ camp, near Cleveland, Ohio in the county west of it asked if piano or if organ was my major instrument. He was a "POT" major, piano organ and theory, and he was working on his doctorate in organ. He was always so nice and I got an easy A, and he said I did good. He also was so impressed with my feet and legs since I did ballet, like my tennis teacher, who is from where he was getting his doctorate, in Rochester, Upstate New York state. I met an African American who had lived in New Orleans or the area part of his life before I did, and he was very mad I wasn't told I was to wash dishes before getting hired, in a secret way, living in Cleveland, just this year. He was like 60 years old. I remember Andre Rieu must not be dumb like people act and he knows what's going on still, that adults are treating me, still, and I'm not really just any trash or murder victim. The organ teacher I think his wife from Oberlin was an orchestral violinist with their blonde baby girl. They must have been born in the late 1960s or early 1970s. That whole school is probably still obsessed with me.
So, "long story short," I rotted. I wanted Music Education. I never graduated. I went home and tried to enjoy social media. I never made money in Hollywood to continue in music, private ballet, art...

The Cincinnati Enquirer: Ohio Senate race 2024: Bernie Moreno says reparations for white ...
Tumblr media
Policymakers have long debated whether Black Americans should receive reparations as amends for racial discrimination and the enslavement of their ancestors.
Cleveland businessman Bernie Moreno made a different pitch when he launched his U.S. Senate campaign last week: Compensate the descendants of Union soldiers who died in the Civil War.
"They talk about reparations. Where are the reparations for the people, for the North, who died to save the lives of Black people?" Moreno told supporters at Little Miami Brewing Company in Milford. "I know it’s not politically correct to say that, but you know what, we've got to stop being politically correct."
The USA TODAY Network Ohio Bureau obtained an audio recording of the event as Moreno's comments circulated online.
Moreno talks reparations during campaign launch
Moreno is running against state Sen. Matt Dolan, R-Chagrin Falls, for chance to take on U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown in 2024. The two could be joined by other high-profile Republican candidates, such as Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose and U.S. Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Troy.
Moreno began to build name recognition during a brief run in the 2022 Senate primary, but he dropped out after a private meeting with former President Donald Trump − who's already signaled his support for Moreno. This time around, he's pitching himself as an outsider who would stand up to long-time politicians in Washington.
During his campaign launch in Milford, Moreno applauded America's founders for standing up to the English empire and said the country's history is one to be proud of.
"That same group of people later, white people, died to free Black people," he said. "It's never happened in human history before, but it happened here in America. That’s not talked about in schools very much, is it? They make it sound like America is a racist, broken country. You name a country that did that, that freed slaves, died to do that."
Historians have estimated that 10 million Africans were enslaved throughout U.S. history, including 4 million people who were declared free by the end of the Civil War in 1865. The war's casualties have been debated over the years, but experts generally say about 360,000 Union soldiers died during the conflict.
Just 30% of all U.S. adults believe descendants of slaves should be repaid in some way, according to Pew Research Center. Over three-quarters of Black Americans back reparations, and 85% said the legacy of slavery affects their position in society today.
When asked about Moreno's comments, campaign spokesman Conor McGuinness said the media missed the point.
"Bernie was right when he said political correctness is killing our country, and the crocodile tears from the left expose the Democrat hypocrisy he was referring to in the clip," McGuinness said.

What are possible ways of alleviating the food insecurity problem in the Cincinnati area (including UC campus)? Support your answers with visual examples.
Sophie Gartland: Near UC’s campus and the Corryville area, there is pretty easy access to a nearby supermarket. But in West End Cincinnati, there are roughly 253 to 732 people in this low income area without access to a nearby grocery store. Cincinnati can adapt principles from Chicagos ‘Growing Power’ and ‘Fresh Bus’. With stops at schools (public schools, University of Cincinnati), medical centers and clinics, daycare centers, housing complexes, parks, and other spaces. I am connecting the West End desert area and the University of Cincinnati as an example in the graphic below:
Tumblr media
Image by: Sophie Gartland
Similarly to the bus in Chicago, Cincinnati could find an affordable way (by donation, etc) to convert a large bus into a means of transportation for fresh foods for University students and low income areas. Similarly to Chicago, Cincinnati's fresh bus will focus on the implementation of fresh produce; ‘kale and mustard greens, Honeycrisp and Cortland apples, cherry tomatoes and avocados. A refrigerated section offered salad mixes and fresh herbs: thyme, oregano, sage’ (Fresh Moves Delivers Vegetables to the South Side of Chicago by Bus).
Siobhan Bracken:
The issue of hunger in Cincinnati is a major issue, 28.7% of citizens of Cincinnati struggle with poverty. Those who struggle with poverty can not afford fresh fruits and vegetables and often do not have grocery stores in their neighborhoods. A solution to this issue is to encourage and create community gardens. Urban farming and community gardens are wonderful ways to increase the amount of fresh produce and make it accessible to all. Community gardens allow for the neighborhood to be connected to the food they eat. Additionally, this would increase the amount of healthy food available to people in Cincinnati. Urban farming also decreases the amount of fossil fuels used to transport produce. Overall urban farming and community gardens are good for the community and for the planet.
Tumblr media
Trinity Finch: Mobile markets and grocery carts have the ability to serve communities on a rotating basis. With that being said, grocery carts can serve many communities in a short span of time. They are low cost and easy to access for the communities around them. In food deserts where access to healthy food is limited and people may have to travel long distances to access grocery stores that have fresh food, mobile markets can provide those necessities to everyone. Here in Ohio, there is already practice of these mobile markets. In Cleveland the Bridgeport Mobile Market travels to people's living spaces, work areas, as well as places of worship to bring fresh fruits and vegetables to their communities. There are only four main steps to starting your own mobile market: relying on proven business strategies, researching successful mobile markets, developing private partnerships for funding, and developing financing packages for each mobile market project. With these steps in mind, we can reduce food deserts in our communities.

Gabriel Manzano: Vertical farming is a type of indoor farming system that involves growing crops in vertically stacked layers using advanced technologies like hydroponics, aeroponics, and artificial lighting. This system can alleviate the food insecurity problem in the Cincinnati area and UC campus by providing year-round crop production, efficiently using space, and reducing transportation cost. Vertical farming allows for year-round crop production, regardless of weather conditions. This can help provide a consistent and reliable source of fresh produce, which can be especially important in areas with harsh or inconsistent winters, like Cincinnati. Vertical Farming also reduces transportation cost because the crops are grown locally. This can help make fresh produce more affordable and accessible to local residents, including those on the UC campus. Vertical farming helps provide a reliable source of fresh produce which increases food security by ensuring that there is a consistent supply of fresh produce available, regardless of external factors.

Conclusion: Kayra Koprulu
In conclusion, there are a variety of ways to reduce the food insecurity problem in the Cincinnati area (including UC campus).  These ways being bus transportations to local fresh food supermarkets, creating community gardens, and mobile markets. While these options are not the only ones, there are many more to list. These acts of service can easily be funded by donations if the public is willing to help. Other ways that can be implemented to benefit Cincinnati and even other poverty stricken cities could be raising awareness to donate to local food banks and building up more food banks in more cities and even towns.  Even something as easy as making go fund-me type donation foundations and raising awareness on social media platforms by posting their links. It’s easy and quick to click a link therefore, more donations can be made.  More and more accessible places for people who struggle to get healthy and nutritional foods will be possible, but only with the help of the public to support.

Question: What can the city of Cincinnati do to encourage companies like kroger to move into food deserts?

Almost Lisa: Pt 12,   “Almost bit the Apple”
*I retain all rights to my photography and story, story details, biographical information, fashion designs, art work, and anything and everything I have posted which is my own creation*)
“If I can make it There, I’ll make it Anywhere!”
It was suggested to me online that I revisit my journey in New York City leading up to my early career in music. NY has always been such a vibrant, exciting city, full of energy and so much culture. Understandably, it's enticing to hear about. I've been giving that a lot of thought because it's unhealthy to dwell in some of the events surrounding 9/11 and what ultimately ended my singing and Broadway aspirations. But I've also remembered countless individual experiences and conversations leading up to and during that time in my life which have been interesting to revisit.
To get to New York State initially was quite the undertaking and began my senior year of high school. Dr. Jim Bane, director of Band at Cleveland Heights High School, was a strong positive influence in my pursuing my music ambitions. Jim was incredibly supportive and encouraging of my musical pursuits. When I was accepted into Eastman, Jim allowed me to spend my lunch time, every day, in his office, dialing for scholarship applications and grants so that I could attend. Without his help, I surely would have gone to Baldwin Wallace in Ohio, which offered me a full ride (boy, was that a conversation with my parents, lol). It was also Jim Bane who introduced me to the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony where I served as principal flutist for the three years. The CYWS was the symphony I later sang with, post 9-11, in Severance Hall. The last performance of my career before ultimately losing my voice.
Tumblr media
In 1997 (whoa...!) I graduated from the distinguished Eastman School Of Music with a BM in Voice and began driving every week from Rochester to Manhattan for one hour lessons with the incredibly revered and talented John Mace and Richard Dorr. How I survived this year-plus, exhausting pilgrimage is beyond me. I suppose youthful determination was the key. But what wasn’t happening was my ability to find a permanent place to live in NYC.  Here I was, with opportunity in front of me, but no where to live in one of the most expensive cities in the world. I was marching all over Manhattan- on foot- looking for work with my self-manifested modeling portfolio and fashion designs (the ones I was penning during rehearsals) in hand. At some point, I briefly befriended a restaurant owner who was good friends with the then uber-popular fashion designer Elie Tahari. He got me a meeting with the designer. Wow!
Tumblr media
I’ll never forget, after waiting nearly an hour for our meeting, the sight while sitting in Elie Tahari’s offices, when the elevator doors finally opened to Ellie with three of his staff flanking him, all on phones and scribbling things down, sweeping through the foyer and into a nearby room, filled with fabric bolts. I was called to go in and meet him, ready to show my fashion designs. Elie motioned for me to sit next to him as a fit model in a nice pair of denim jeans paced back and forth in front of us. I knew he was squeezing me in and I was happy for it. Then he asked for my book and leafed through my designs, still conducting business with his team. A few “mm hmms” later, he handed me back my book and stated “you’re an illustrator”. Now, granted my designs were more intricate than the modern, streamlined brand he was famous for, but I did fancy myself capable of designing what I penned. Elie asked me to stand and turn around for him. Said maybe he could use me as a fit model. But- fit as I was- I was only 5′5″. Oh well. A few years later, I’d begun framing and selling my fashion illustrations to private collectors and fashion enthusiasts. Thank you Elie! But I’d still love to do something with the thousands of original designs I’ve created which- currently- live in volumes, in boxes.
Through the restaurateur, I was also introduced to a statuesque and shapely transwoman named Octavia. She was sassy, very New York, and a hoot to behold. She invited me to what would have been my first drag show (don’t worry, I enjoyed many once I got to Hollywood), but I stopped spending time with them after the owner did a line of coke behind my back with his buddy. Not my scene.
Also in New York, I was interviewed at FHM Magazine as an emerging talent. I did my face and hair nice, put on a cute outfit and marched up to the building just as the door opened and an entourage of 13 or so poured out, surrounding another up and comer, Jennifer Lopez. When I got into the room, the interviewer was already making decisions to print her interview. He sat in front of me, half paying attention. The wall behind him displayed photos of The Spice Girls, tacked on it in a row. They would be printed in the next months publication. I was clearly “no one”. This is one of those memories which make me angry over missed time. I got a late start on my dreams. Had I broken free of that despicable, controlling boss years earlier, who knows if I would have been walking out of a major magazine interview, with an entourage, launching my own singing career/ empire.
I just found a note to myself entitled “the German” and giggled remembering this next part of my New York  experience. While subletting a room in a railway apartment on the upper West Side, my “roommate”- a fun, quirky voice over talent also named Lisa- and I shared a few interesting moments together wherever the third roommate subletted her room out to subsidize her portion of rent. On one occasion, the subleasee was a German man (maybe early 30′s) who was in the States on a grant to research Death. Some institution had bestowed financial resources upon this already odd and terse man so that he could sit bedside and watch people pass away, and involve himself in things which brought him closer to understanding Death and the Human condition as it deals with it’s own demise. Needless to say, I avoided conversations with the guy (as did Lisa 2.0). Sometimes, they were unavoidable, and there we're no witnesses.
Tumblr media
One night, German dude caught me solo in the apartment and began to discuss his research. He told me of an art exhibit he’d attended where the entrance way was flanked by two naked people (a man and a woman). You couldn't enter without turning your body to the side. He enjoyed (too much) speculating about which way I might turn to enter, sizing me up and down to see how I might react to his inquiry. Then he mentioned another, earlier, exhibit by a controversial performance artist who publicized a disclaimer that whatever happened to her during the performance was her will. Upon a long table in the room were various items attendees could “use” to interact with her: scissors, rope, paint, a boa, various knives, tape, a loaded gun... The German declared he would enjoy using the knife on this artist, and explained his fascination with her Work, while moving uncomfortably closer to me and making slashing gestures at my torso with an imaginary knife. I did not move a single muscle. It was at this moment that Lisa 2.0 came home and walked into our living room- eyes wide- and asked “how’s it going?”. Both Lisa’s were thrilled the next night when The German called to say he wouldn’t be coming home because he was arrested for jumping a subway turnstile. Guess that’s legal in Europe.
(For the record, that Artist he adored was the infamous Marina Abramović. The work was “Rhythm 0″ which - I recall- ended with a loaded gun pointed at the artists head.)
Ahhhhhhh... I Love New York.
      (To be continued...)

2. In 1946, Goldie and Jerry Lippman established Gojo. Goldie held a supervisor position in a life raft and another products-producing rubber factory in Akron, Ohio, during World War II. Goldie observed that workers had to dip their hands in harsh chemicals like kerosene and benzene to remove graphite and carbon black from their hands at the end of each shift. Gojo (a combination of their first names) was founded by a husband and wife who realized they could improve a cleaning product. Gojo's first-hand cleaner was developed in collaboration with a chemistry professor at Kent State University.
3. The United States produces hand sanitizers with the highest consumer appeal. The primary manufacturing facility for Purell by Gojo Industries is in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, a city between Cleveland and Akron. Additionally, it has a manufacturing facility in Wooster, Ohio, in the former Rubbermaid headquarters. After that, in 1988, the company came up with the hand gel Purell, which has propylene glycol and 70% ethyl alcohol as its main ingredient. Even though Purell is now the hand sanitizer that sells the most in the world, it took some time for stores to carry the product that most everyday customers didn't really want. As a result, [ was not made available to the general public by Gojo until 1997. Gojo is a private, family-owned company. In 1946, Gojo was founded by Jerome "Jerry" Lippman and Goldie Lippman
4.  Due to the COVID-19 virus, which has the potential to end a person's life, hand sanitizer is an essential part of everyday life. This item has had an impact on my life. Hand sanitizer can prevent the spread of germs since we rarely have access to a sink to wash our hands. In clinical settings like hospitals, where hands come into contact with germs but are typically not heavily soiled or greasy, hand sanitizer will come in handy. However, it also plays a crucial role in community settings like sports, handling food, and work.
5. According to one version of the story, Lupe Hernandez invented hand sanitizer when she was a nursing student in Bakersfield, California, in 1966. She combined alcohol and gel to make a product that doctors could use when they don't have time to get soap and warm water before treating patients. The invention of Lupe Hernandez still has a significant impact on our day-to-day lives; hand sanitizer will always have a significant impact on workplaces, schools, and medical facilities. According to google, they are unsure of if Lupe Hernandez is still alive today.

For World War II veteran Peter Essa, he carried his wound for 78 years
Tumblr media
Private First Class Peter Essa, a Chaldean American and World War II veteran, seemed to have unknowingly carried a piece of World War II with him for the last 78 years. Wooden fragments from the bullet he was shot with in the invasion of Normandy were found in his ankle two months ago after he visited a doctor because of a swollen ankle.
Essa was drafted into the war when he was just 18-years-old, having to leave his mother, father and six sisters. He was born in the United States in 1925 after his parents immigrated from Iraq. His mom came to the United States in 1908 and his dad in 1914.
Following his summoning into war, he then had to report for training along with other soldiers who’d been drafted. His first training base was Fort Custer in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he trained for two weeks before moving to Camp Van Dorn in Centreville, Mississippi. He said he was there for 11 months before the recruit training in Fort Meade, Maryland. His last training stop was Camp Shanks in Orangeville, New York, which was actually named “Last Stop USA.”
Upon arriving in Europe, Essa recalled a large ship coming into the harbor near the ship he was aboard, where he saw General Dwight D. Eisenhower, commander of the Allied forces, and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill preparing to give orders. Essa said they began to speak to the soldiers over a loudspeaker about an invasion and that’s when they knew something serious was coming.
As Zeina Jaafar explained in the Arab American News; They were preparing for “Operation Overlord”, also known as D-Day; the invasion of Normandy, France that commenced on June 6, 1944. Essa said this was his first day in combat and unbeknownst to him, the invasion in which he would be shot and wounded.
Soldiers were transferred to smaller landing crafts that took them closer to the shores of Normandy, where German troops were stationed in the distance. Essa said that as they reached the shoreline, they were dropped from the landing crafts into water up to their necks. With their rifles over their heads, he said they trekked through the water to reach the beach.
In the midst of fighting back, Essa was shot by a German wooden bullet in his left ankle. He immediately screamed for help and stated that the pain was so immense that he believed he would not make it. “When I got shot, I thought I was killed,” he said. Sergeant Durham carried Essa on his back to safety, where he was then taken by jeep to a field hospital and treated by the medics. Unfortunately, that sergeant was killed in combat shortly after, Essa said.
Following his treatment in England, he was then sent to Crile Military Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Here, Essa went through a total of six surgeries and was awarded the Purple Heart. He set the scene of being awarded whilst sitting in a hospital bed and still recovering from being shot. He was officially discharged from the war in 1945 as his injury was too severe for him to return.
His life post war of course looked much different than going into active combat. He used the GI Bill, which helps World War II veterans pay for school, and attended a butchers school. He then took a trip to Iraq in search of a wife. He then married a woman named Samira, from Baghdad, and moved her to the States, where they had five children.
Essa was also awarded the Bronze Star for his service and his wife recalled two soldiers appearing at their house in Metro Detroit asking for him. She said they saluted him as soon as he came to the door, and that alone brought her to tears.
Last November, Essa said he noticed pain and swelling in his left ankle, where he’d been shot 78 years earlier. Essa said that as the surgeon was cleaning out his wound, he started pulling wooden fragments out of his ankle with utter confusion as to what what those pieces could be. He then informed the doctor that he’d been shot with a wooden bullet in World War II.
Peter Essa has carried a piece of the war with him from the day he was shot in the invasion of Normandy, but is fortunately now relieved of the pain that bullet cost him.

The Hangar Recreation Association
 24400 Cedar Rd.
Beachwood, OH
The Hangar, a private recreation center, was built in 1930 as part of the Dudley S. Blossom estate, in what was then Lyndhurst but is now Beachwood, Ohio. Many estates and country houses of that era incorporated a private sports facility, as a place where children, their friends -- and adults -- could swim and play tennis indoors.  From the outside, this Cleveland version of a private recreation center does partly resemble an airplane hangar -- because of the two glass-pitched roofs, one each over the tennis court and swimming pool. The plain stucco exterior evokes Art Moderne. Its architect was the highly regarded Abram Garfield, whose father, James A. Garfield, served briefly as the 20th president of the United States before dying in 1881 of wounds from an assassin's bullet. The Hangar shows the fluency that Abram Garfield had.  It was the only Art Deco building Garfield would ever create.
     Dudley Blossom was a successful Cleveland businessman, but he and his wife are more widely known for their philanthropy, in particular their support of the musical arts.  Elizabeth Blossom -- nee Bingham -- was the sister of Frances Payne Bolton, who was married to Chester Bolton, a congressman whose seat Frances would fill upon his death. The Bolton and Blossom estates took up hundreds of acres of the land adjacent to what is now Cedar and Richmond roads.  The Blossoms, best known today for the amphitheater named for them in Cuyahoga Falls, the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra, had a longtime friendship and professional relationship with Abram Garfield.
     Garfield, who would found the school of architecture that would be enfolded into Case Western Reserve University, had designed many other homes, including the Mather House at CWRU and the Hay-McKinney Mansion of the Western Reserve Historical Society. He had also designed the Blossoms' Tudor Revival home in Lyndhurst, which was built about a decade before the Hangar was added.  The Hangar was his first foray into the design style that had swept the world since the 1925 exhibition in Paris of "arts decoratifs." That exposition debuted a modern style characterized by a streamlined classicism, and geometric and symmetrical compositions. Its prominent motifs often included stylized animals and Aztec or Egyptian references (the latter inspired by the mania surrounding the 1922 discovery of King Tut's tomb).
     The Hangar is not open to the public. Today, it is owned by Charles Bolton, whose great-aunt was Blossom's wife, Elizabeth.  It is Bolton who oversaw its restoration in the mid-1980s, which was around the same time that the Hangar was listed on January 9, 1986, with the National Register of Historic Places. The Hangar's glory resides in its interior.  Guests who arrive in the main lounge are immediately surrounded by a vivid, sea-themed wall mural that leads upward to a sapphire-glass tray ceiling, from which hangs a sleek, silvery chandelier. The mural is signed "June Platt, 1930."  Platt's mural at the Hangar shows a mastery of detail and imagination. Sea anemones, guppies, zebra fish and other samples of fantastical marine life swirl in pinks, mint greens and soothing blues, in forms both bold and delicate.
      In the 1970s, the membership rolls of the private Hangar Recreation Association read like a who's who of Cleveland's East Side, including names such as Burton, Meacham and Dempsey. Even Sherman Lee, the director of the Cleveland Museum of Art, was an avid tennis-playing member.  During the restoration, the Boltons (Charles' wife, Julia, was also greatly involved) salvaged small pieces of wallpaper from protected areas and then had a specialty firm in Cincinnati re-create the original design, using a silk-screen process. The result: walls papered with vintage designs in saturated hues.  Today The Hangar is the occasional site of a wedding or a member's private party.

Joseph Kosuth
Joseph Kosuth (31 January 1945) is an American conceptual artist born in Toledo, Ohio. He attended the Toledo Museum School of Design from 1955 to 1962 studying privately under Belgian painter Line Bloom Draper. He then attended the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1963-64 before studying with Roger Barr at the American Center in Paris in 1964 and 65. That year, Kosuth moved to New York to attend the School of Visual Arts where he later joined the faculty following exceptional work. It wasn’t soon after he abandoned painting, and took up a more experimental approach. Kosuth is known for being a pioneer of conceptual and installation art which usually explores the role and meaning of language within art.
One of his most well-known works and one that has inspired my project is his 1965 installation ’One and Three Chairs’. The piece looks simple on the outside, a chair sits alongside a photograph of a chair and a dictionary definition of the word chair. It begs the question, however, are all three chairs, or simply codes for understanding the object, a visual code, a verbal code and a code in the language of objects, the chair itself. Kosuth’s piece uses a form of iteration, depicting the chair through a variety of mediums that show the chair as itself. Within my work I want to take away from my chosen object, the gold foil, and take it on a journey, altering the definition or what we see of it.
Kosuth's work relates to my practice through his own interpretation of what an object actually is. Does the object need to be in physical existence for it to be deemed real?
