Friendly reminder that the Bible doesn't consider fetuses as on our level
The verses prolifers point out is, if your belief is true, means we were alive before we were ever conceived. But the human soul is not eternal; that is God only.
"If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman’s husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe." Exodus 21:22-25
Bolded comes from the Hebrew word וְיָצְא֣וּ, which means to go, out, or bring. Let's be real, what punch would bring earlier birth? It really only makes sense for this to be a miscarriage, and it says no harm follows. I'm not twisting His word; I'm listening to it.

i don't have the words to articulate it at this moment but there's something about the way that people have specific expectations for "authenticity" and will dismiss anything that falls outside them as a mangled, anglicised version of the thing when actually that is the older and more traditional form of something, it just doesn't match their expectations. obviously in my personal experiences i'm mostly talking about medieval literature here especially medieval irish literature
sometimes this is as simple as spelling – i've had people argue that the name "finn" is anglicised and it should always be "fionn" to be Really Irish, but "finn" is an older spelling, glide vowels are later, if you wanna go real far back it'll be "find" (nd in place of nn is an older spelling pattern). or they'll hear someone say "ogam" and assume they're mispronouncing "ogham" due to lack of knowledge of irish and not consider the fact that medievalists tend to use the older form of the word. or they'll Well Actually you about "correct" terminology which wasn't standardised (and/or invented) until the 20th century
a lot of this is defensive and the result of seeing a lot of people ACTUALLY get this stuff wrong and have no respect for the language. in that regard i understand it, although it becomes very tedious after a while, particularly when people sanctimoniously declare something "inauthentic", "fake", or "anglicised" without doing enough research to realise it's not trying to be modern irish and is in fact correct for older forms of the language
more often however this search for the projected "authenticity" is ideological and has much larger flaws and more problematic implications. "this can't be the real story because it's christian" well... that's the oldest version of the story that exists and it postdates christianity in ireland by about nine hundred years, so... maybe question why you're assuming the only "real" version of irish stories can't be a christian one? this is especially true when it comes to fíanaigecht material tbh, but in general there seems to a widespread misapprehension about ireland's historical relationship with christianity (i have seen people arguing that christianity in ireland is the result of english colonialism which took their "true" faith from them... bro. they were christian before the "english" existed. half the conversion efforts went the other way. please read some early medieval history thank you)
however i also saw someone saying this about arthurian literature lately which REALLY baffled me. "we'll never have the Real arthurian stories only the christianised versions" and it was in the context of chivalric romance. buddy you are mourning something that does not exist. this "authentic" story you're looking for isn't there. that twelfth century story you're dismissing as a christian bastardisation is as "real" a part of this tradition as you're going to get

I think we should open martyr status to abortion doctors who are killed for helping women.

Okay I want some people to try this:
Using only science, math, logic, reason, etc, explain to me why murder is wrong. No theology, morality, philosophy, emotions, feelings, etc. Only cold hard facts. Explain why murder is wrong.
I am trying to see something here.

no offense but if you knew the majority of your followers were radfem or rad aligned feminists and knew how they would react to pro-life christian feminism put on their dashes from someone unexpected, i would almost wager you purposefully wanted to stir up drama on here. bc at that point why don't you delete your blog and create one unaffiliated with the feminism you no longer agree with. weird af to me.

There are few people I despise more than the "Never-Trump"-er.
You prioritized a stupid-ass religion. That's right; I said it; Christianity is stupid, and you're stupid for believing in it.
You spent years trying to strip women of their reproductive rights.
Donald Trump sicking his mob on you for being too moderate is precisely what you deserved. He is the only logical conclusion of the policies you support, and I'd honestly respect you more if you could just slap on a viking helmet with the rest of your ilk, you two-faced weasel.
And now you have the balls to get up here and whine about how your party needs to return to the center and to decency?
Every remotely reasonable policy has come from the progressive side. "Tradition" has never been the moral choice.
The Republicans have functionally been a terrorist sect for decades. Last time I checked, I wasn't supposed to negotiate with you.
You don't deserve a platform; you deserve to be kissing my shoes, begging for forgiveness that you didn't jump ship back in the 80's.
Honestly? If there's even a CHANCE of the Dems moving an inch to the right to court your vote, I'd rather you not vote at all.
You are incapable of learning from your failures, and once the orange man is gone, it's going to be right back to business as usual building your theocratic capitalistic patriarchy... just quietly and politely this time.
Go die in a ditch.

very funny when someone who tries to tell you porn addiction is real is already marked with shinigami eyes. like oh really? i never would have guessed a transphobe would buy multiple strains of fundamentalist christian propaganda. anyway
Tumblr media
like i cannot stress enough that porn addiction is a fake thing made up by fundamentalists to make you demonize sex. it is not a real thing. you can have all manner of compulsions, sure, but a porn compulsion is no more harmful than a compulsion to doomscrolling or washing your hands or brushing your teeth. which is to say, it's not great to have a compulsion at all, but a compulsion to pornography is not uniquely concerning in and off itself.
research on this subject is very clear that porn and porn consumption itself is not the issue. what causes distress and shame is the culture surrounding porn and the way our society demonizes people for normal sexual feelings.
porn is morally neutral. you are not a bad person for enjoying porn. the real-life porn industry is a shitshow, but there are many ways to enjoy pornography that are entirely harmless. support your favorite independent porn producers.

Now that Biden has quit the race, I pray to God that Kamala doesn't win. One pro abortion extremist replaced by another pro abortion extremist. May America make the right choice.

I could've been a great theologian if I didn't have to waste all my Bible knowledge insisting that I shouldn't have to be mutilated by a pregnancy I don't want.

Via The New York Times, the image above is a screenshot of a map which shows abortion bans in the United States, as of 8/23/23.
South Carolina’s new all-male Supreme Court reversed course on abortion on Wednesday, upholding a ban on most such procedures after about six weeks of pregnancy.
The 4-1 ruling departs from the court’s own decision earlier this year to strike down a similar law.
Earlier this year, South Carolina became the only state in the country with an entirely male state Supreme Court; after the only woman on the court was forced into retirement due to her age, our state legislature and governor went into a special overtime session in order to pass a new anti-abortion law, knowing that any further legal challenges would be unsuccessful.
As of today that ban is in effect; people waiting to have abortion procedures this morning were sent home from clinics after the ruling came out.
This is a loss not only for the millions of people living in this state who will now be denied healthcare and their own bodily autonomy, but also for thousands of others who might not be able to travel here from out of state to access care anymore.
We can also be certain that they aren't done; attempts at a total ban will come next, and after that we can be sure that gender affirming care bans and further legal oppression of trans youth will take center stage once again. (I say further, because the sports ban for trans youth is already law, and most people have already forgotten about it.)
The cruelty is the point.
