Do you remember? Nope! (Patreon)
#Doodles#Mother 3#Duster#Lucky#Went and reread Lost and Found again <3 The first chapter anyhow it's my favourite#Planning to do a full reread after I actually Pick Mother 3 Back Up agh I've been away so long!#Other things doin' - other things reading and playing#I do want to tho! I'm on a Duster chapter if I remember correctly :D#Still so funny to me how Lost and Found was the impetus of my fic printing project haha#Haven't gotten to it yet that's also fallen off! I want to get into back-and-front printing but for that I need to do formatting#I wonder if there's a program for that actually :0 Seems like there should be! A way to have every first-and-fourth on the same side...#Doing it by hand is a good way to get misprints :P I already have one of my fic prints with a misprinted first/second page!#ANYway lol - Duster! Lucky! He! <3 <3#Got very inspired by the mental image of the ghost of Lucky's history haunting him <3#Those missing pieces! The core of him still there still sweet and gentle but those important elements that make him Duster#Following him overshadowing the happinesses he finds with doubt and anxiety#It's all so lovely <3#So fun to watch him stumble through into things he wants and feeling unsure if he Can#Of course he deserves it he's wonderful ♪

I just found prints I ran in 2006 when I was 17 on eBay, LOL This was back when I went by Kirai and had a hotmail account and a website piggy-backed on my old mentor's site. This is so funny to me. If you want an extremely collectible Maranda print, check it out.

#the only place I know these prints exist is my parent's house#they actually have the original oil painting of the crab one#god this is so funny to me what a throwback#nostalgia#art#the crow guy was painted in OPEN CANVAS 1.1#you kids don't even know about that probably#it was an art program small enough to fit on a floppy disc#“what's a floppy disc” sighs in millenial

Become an Advance Reader for Duck Prints Press!
Reviews are essential for showing prospective readers that we’re publishing awesome books that they want to buy and read. We’re looking to recruit an active group of people who post reviews of our work, and to do that we need your help! For the first time, we’re offering Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) of one of our projects: Aether Beyond the Binary, our most recent anthology, featuring 17 stories of characters outside the gender binary exploring modern-esque aetherpunk worlds.
How it works: You see this post. You think, oh, I love reading! I love leaving reviews! I want to join the Duck Prints Press Reviewer Program! Then, you go and read the rules for our Reviewer Program. And, if everything there sounds like something you can do, you fill out the form, and – we’ll be in touch! Even better: this program isn’t only for Aether Beyond the Binary, and isn’t only for “advance” titles. Our reviewers are encouraged to claim titles that are currently released, too, to help build up a robust collection of reviews of Duck Prints Press titles!
Requirements:
You must be over 18 years old.
You must be prepared to post reviews on Goodreads and/or Storygraph.
You must also post the review on the appropriate listing on the Duck Prints Press webstore (for advance titles, you’ll have to wait ’til we list them there).
Upon acceptance to the program, you must join the Duck Prints Press Book Lover’s Server.
Reviews must be at least 100 words long must and engage with the actual content of the work being reviewed.
Reviews must be left within 6 months of claiming a title, or you will be removed from the program.
What isn’t Required:
That the reviews be positive. Reviews are for readers. We require that reviews be honest to your own experience of the work, not that they be glowing.
That you post the reviews to social media. Doing so is definitely a bonus, but you don’t have to.
That you associate yourself publicly with the review-leaving (beyond using a valid Goodreads and/or Storygraph account). As in, you don’t have to say, “I, (your name here), reviewed this book” or link your book website accounts with your existing social media presence or anything like that, nor do we request any demographic information beyond confirmation of your age.
That you purchase anything. Absolutely no purchase necessary!
What You Get:
A e-book copy (ePub and/or PDF) of the work you’re reviewing. We do not provide physical ARCs.
After you post your first review, you’ll get a coupon for 10% off a purchase from the Duck Prints Press webstore!
For every ten reviews you post, you can claim a freebie sticker from among our sticker offerings, if you want. (You’ll have to provide a snail mail address to get this, of course.)
A community of fun book-lovers to hang out with! (You can get that even without joining the ARC program, though – our Book Lover’s Discord is open to everyone.)
We’re accepting applicants for claiming Aether Beyond the Binary ARCs through April 10th, 2024. On the 11th, we’ll randomly select 25 of applicants to receive ARC copies of Aether Beyond the Binary. Everyone else will still be entirely welcome in the program and invited to start with a different, back-catalog book or story to review. We’ll make another pool of Aether Beyond the Binary ARCs available in May.
So… those are the basics. Interested? Go read the full rules, then apply to be a Duck Prints Press ARC reader TODAY!

In response to Adobe's TOS changes, Affinity is running a 50% off flash sale on everything.
Affinity can't do everything that Creative Suite can, but it can do a lot of what I need for fandom purposes, so I am going to give it a test run this summer with some zines. If you need epub support, though, Publisher 2 doesn't have it yet, so this probably won't be a solution for ebook designers unless you only need PDFs.
Unlike Adobe, which switched to a subscription model years ago, Affinity is a one-time purchase for the software. But for transparency, do be aware that Canva bought them earlier this year.
#art and design programs#I am a career designer#I work in both print and digital#And unfortunately need some of InDesign's features#so I can't abandon them professionally#but I would love to kick Adobe personally

i found some wacky way to make borderless printing work...!!! it's not perfect but idk it might b ok enough until i can get a decent guillotine cutter and cut a bunch of sheets at once to size. I'll try experimenting with printing my comics and stuff sometime!!!!!
#blab#like again it won't b amazing quality bc i'm just diying at home but my printer prints decent images and i'm too embarrassed to work with#a printing company for my comics (????)#idk what's up w me having to do some obscure-o method to make borderless printing work tho#couldn't do it in ms word even w borders turned off. maybe they have sth programmed in to make it not work (?)#couldn't do it from the default windows image viewer or wtv bc my printer's dialog box wouldn't open even when i clicked 'more settings'#i had to. save as a pdf. open in a web browser. open the browser's printer dialog. click 'use the system printer dialog' which opens the#windows printer dialog box. click 'more settings' on that which then opens my printer's dialog box somehow in that context only.#check the borderless printing option there. and then print. so CONVOLUTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#idk if dialog box is the right word. idk how to describe computer things. i mean like the printing options window.

Coded a program that will batch convert all of my rgb digital art to cmyk for art prints without distorting the colors, plus it will resize, watermark, rotate etc with a single click 😈😈😈
Now I just need to know if anyone actually wants to buy prints/standees/keychains etc and which artworks yall want merch of.
#but Raz converting to cmyk from rgb is so easy in photoshop?#yes but it was distorting the colors and I’m a picky b*tch when it comes to my art#especially picky with colors#my program gets the colors as close as possible to the original image#insert Yzma cat voice “I win”#I’m about to be so obnoxious with the things I’ll be printing

In the content you have come to expect from this blog, I wish to talk about the hamburger in the Royal Realm. I will not beat around the bush. Here it is:

I spend a lot of time agonizing about whether or not they have various foods in Soul Society, usually based on age of introduction to Japan, and my own feeble attempts extrapolate which cultural forces do or do not exist, but this one feels very straightforward: there is no way they have hamburgers in Soul Society.
Wait, no, I am going to roll that back slightly, because I think it is the nature of Joe Shinigami to smuggle any kind of anything small enough to be stuffed into a shihakushou back through a senkaimon, so it's not like there has never been a hamburger in Soul Society. Kensei looks very much like a burg man, and he's probably published instructions for how to make one in his cooking column, but I can't bring myself to believe they are more than a rare and very expensive novelty. Also, as is the way of Soul Society, no matter how carefully you source your ingredients which time-tested recipe you follow, it will come out subtly and indescribably wrong.
And yet! Kirio seems to have mastered the art! Or has she? As becomes evident in this subsequent shot, there is something deeply wrong with this burger: it appears to be roughly the same height as Rukia and probably twice the weight.

The Royal Guard is known for innovating, and I'm so interested in this-- is Kirio trying out new foods for their reishi-holding capacities? Did she make this for Ichigo in particular, because it would otherwise be rare for her to encounter someone who has actually eaten a burger before? (Presumably Renji, who knows everything about the World of the Living, might also have some feedback). Where did she find out about burgers? The Royal Realm is basically the Los Alamos of Soul Society. It's not unthinkable that they figured out how to get Food Network up there.
I am so mad that we didn't get to see the full footage of everyone's trip through every stage of the Royal Realm. Did Kirio make Byakuya the Giant Hamburger? You know that Byakuya doesn't approve of anything invented or introduced to Japan after the Tokugawa Shogunate, but I feel like he would have great respect for anything he encountered in the Royal Realm. What I am saying is that I think it would be great if post-TYBW Byakuya gets into hamburgers with the signature intensity with which he pursues all of his interests.
PS: For full disclosure, the giant burg is anime-only. Presumably it got the Kubo seal of approval. But guess what he drew originally! (answer below the cut)
#soul society food culture#royal realm#bleach tybw#byakuya and rukia showing up at ichigo's door one day wearing matching guy fieri flame print bowling shirts#'kurosaki ichigo. we wish to go to flavortown'#i didn't want to get off-topic but those wonderbread-ass club sandwiches are surely not soul society standard either#i cannot believe those are an effective vehicle for spiritual power fortification#god i would love to read kirio's 17-volume art of computer programming style dissertation on storing fighting power in foodstuffs

#love to correct minor spelling/orthographical errors and put thematically relevant symbols as section dividers#it turns out it's wicked cheap to print an (1) book on demand. this is a lot of power should i choose to wield it#“download adobe products to make this easier!” no and fuck you. you underestimate how much i am willing to do by hand in a free program
