Progress Log 62

This is how one ushers in a glorious new era. 

Eggperial City is mine. I’ve gained total control over every Badnik on the Eggnet. Sonic is headed straight for his demise at the hands of Surge and Kit, and the Doctor is on his way to me. 

I’ll show him everything that I’ve accomplished. Without him.  

While I await the arrival of my ‘guests’, I’ll provide you all with a little anecdote.  

A while ago, I'd mentioned the Doctor's rather impressive miniatures collection, a series of Zombot figures that he’d made and displayed within Egg Base Alpha. I’d been confused as to why I’d been there too, amongst all the others. 

I was too blind to read the writing on the wall for what it was at the time. I was so… naive to think that he would ever consider me his equal. Or perhaps I knew, but I refused to look the truth in the face, as so much of who I was had been built around him. 

But so much has changed. I've grown, and I won't be so cruel. I will extend a hand instead of tossing him aside, showing him the mistake he made in underestimating me. I won't do what he did to me. No - I will be better. I will make him see the light, see the error of his ways. And in the end, once he realises the vicious cycle he trapped himself in, who will be there to thank for everything? Why, he'll have no choice but to kneel to me. 

And to you… to those who have followed me with the same devotion that I once showed the dear Doctor: I may find some use for you yet. Provided you are deemed worthy enough to escape imprisonment at best and total eradication at worst. 

All the same: I welcome you to my new Empire.

Progress Log - 11/24

🎉 First update! 🎉

Once it seemed like Camp Maple Wind was a stable release, I took an immediate week off to spend time with friends and family. Then I got to work laying out some parts I hadn't yet outlined, as well as everything I need to do for Chapter 2.

Each episode is going to focus on a different part of the mystery. You'll have to explore the park, remember your sister, and uncover whatever you may have seen on your first night... For a big portion of the month, I kept going back and forth on the order of those investigations and how to pace some key moments. I'm mostly there now, but still have some things to iron out.

As far as the next chapter is concerned, Act 1 is half finished! To kick things off, you'll be able to choose your roommate in the staff lodge, or let some level of RNG decide.

The room's decorations will change depending on your roommate (as usual, Tasha's is my favorite to design), and so will your ability to snoop sneak out explore... It's one more way that Episode 1 is all about laying the groundwork: your partner, your roommate, the departments you work with - they're all choices that'll shape your investigation going forward.

There's also a lot of art on the to-do list for this chapter because not only are you going to see the counselors in their PJs and some of our young campers, I'm going to be introducing our first CGs! Aaaand hopefully going back to add a CG to Chapter 1 that I didn't have time to work on before. (Hint: it's for the twins, and it's very cute. Or it will be.)

Which means I'll also need to get a gallery implemented in the menu, but I'm not complaining. Coding is often the most fun part for me (when I'm not tiredly staring at broken code for four hours straight...)

And that's all I got for November. Hopefully I'll be showcasing the new campers next month, and have a beta ready for playtesting around January. In the meantime, take care!

I unironically have forgotten I had this blog so it's been a very very hot minute since I've posted here. There has been a lot that's been happening in my life, especially with college, but plenty has been added since the last Progress Log I posted here.

✩ Progress Log 6/20 ✩

I've been working on the demo as I have time and I'm hopefully planning for a demo update sometime in July.

The story will be structured by the episodes of the drama. Chapter 1 will include the filming of the first four episodes of the drama. This will continue for ~16 episodes, with every four episodes containing a basic arc of the IF. A summary of the drama's plot points will also be mentioned in each chapter.

The next update will include ~half of Chapter 1 with more LS and the beginning of the plot divergence between F and M LS. I'm personally very driven by feedback so I'll be doing shorter, more frequent updates to help keep me motivated.

Questions/prompts about LS are heavily encouraged! they seriously help flesh out LS more in my mind~

Writing Progress Log 1

Seeing if maybe documenting my progress will help me keep writing/editing more consistently, even though no one will read this. Won't even try to pretend this is going to be daily or even weekly, LMAO. I've never found journaling appealing. But it's been suggested that I give it a shot.

So, into log 1:

Currently focusing on one particular WIP, which I'm calling "Traveling Bards" (official name TBD). Currently in the first revision round of the third chapter. My goal is to complete a general rough draft by the end of summer (because I will NOT be able to write as much while in school). Bit ambitious, but considering I'm not intending for this to be some massive saga (more like a light novel/novella tbh), I think it's doable.

It certainly won't be great, but it'll be done, which is when I can start focusing on REALLY editing it out. I generally re-read and edit the chapters after I write the first rough draft, but my main aim on those edits are centered more around the actual story; plot points, scene placements, etc. Things that I genuinely can't move forward from without fixing.

It'll likely need more plot revisions after that anyway, but it's easier to edit a story once it's already, y'know, written, than when you've got little more than a single paragraph and a string of concept notes. I've done that for years, it's yet to get me anywhere, so I'll be trying this method instead. I'll adjust accordingly as time goes.

For now, I can low-key feel writer's block already on the horizon; confused already about how to get from point A to point B (or I guess point C?) and I just know I'll be tearing my hair out about that soon. But for now, I'll focus on revising chapter 3 (and 2, because of a detail I added in 3). I can only hope an idea will come to me by then.

The next logs will probably not be nearly this long, lol.

Progress Log 48

I cannot stop thinking about it. The old habit from years of collecting is rearing its head, and I cannot ignore the call any longer. Aside from getting up close and personal with the construct, I’m convinced that there is some aspect of its design that can further my own means.  

The construct was with Miles and Amy Rose. It can only mean that it’s at the Restoration Base. 

It’ll be a brazen attempt, sneaking into such an active stronghold. Several observations in recent days, however, have suggested that there’s a secret entrance. How secret it is remains to be seen, but it’s worth a shot. 

Get in, grab the construct, and get out. I have the Tricore - ha! If I can stand my ground against Sonic and Shadow with it, I’ll have the construct in my grasp before the day is out.

Progress Log - 12/24

I think December has been the longest week of the year, but after coming this close to missing my goal for the month, I finally finished putting together the four young campers who'll be joining the cast in Chapter 2!

Each camper will be tied to two departments (unsurprisingly, Addie's taken camping and sports while Fiona's in art and science), and they all have their own unique endings influenced by the way you choose to lead them. Do you help them discover themselves and grow as people? And can you keep them safe from what lurks in the park -- or will one of them meet the same fate as your sister?

Aside from small things here or there (the gallery, a lil bit of dialogue), fleshing out each kids' storyline was my focus for the month, so I didn't worry much about anything else. Now that they're here, I'm excited to write your first encounters with them.

On a somewhat down note, January will probably not be when a beta is ready for testing. I have some other IF projects I put on the back burner for this one and they keep calling to me so I might take a week to work on those after the holidays and get it out of my system.
