No Miraculous, no classmates AU where Adrien in his 20s has been dating Chloé for 3 years. He's got no support network, no real friends, and he has nothing, really, to look forward to. Just another 60 years of Chloé and living a life that someone else chose for him. He can see himself turning into André Bourgeois and doesn't see any way out of it.

Then he starts speaking to one of the newer designers who's kind of cute and she honestly makes him almost feel good about himself to the point where she's the only thing that actually makes him want to get out of bed, but he can't go there because he and Chloé are engaged until Marinette finally asks him why, exactly, he chose to marry her, why is he living a life for someone else, and suddenly he finds he's quit his job, publicly dumped his fiancée, and started spending all his time at Marinette's parents' bakery

And he's finally something he never thought he would get to be--happy.

Prompt: makeover

“And… there!” Marinette proudly flourished her eyeliner pencil, finishing the makeover. “Think it’ll piss your dad off?”

Adrien’s voice was small. “If he even notices me.”

“What?”

Adrien seemed to curl in on himself. “I don’t think he gets me,” he sighed. “He tries, I think, but it’s like he sees right through me. I’m a ghost.”

As much as she wished they’d leave her alone sometimes, Marinette could never imagine thinking that about her parents. She placed her hand on his shoulder, squeezing.

“I see you,” she said sincerely.

His hand covered hers, squeezing back. “Thank you. I know.”

“I like being a girl.” “That’s the alcohol talking,” Marinette snorted. “I’ve always been a li’l jealous,” Adrien admitted. “... Of what?” “That you get to be a girl,” Adrien murmured, “and I don’t.” — When Marinette and Adrien host Girls' Night at their apartment, Adrien is easily welcomed to attend as "one of the girls"... but has a bit too much to drink. Some drunken confessions are spilt, some assumptions are made, and most of all... Adrien is confused.

So, um. Remember that art of Adrien in a dress I drew back in May? Surprise! I actually drew that because of this fic I was writing. I realized I should probably post it before pride ends.
