Writerblr Introduction (2024)

Intro to Me!

🪷 Hello all, I'm Quill and I've been writing since I could remember honestly. 

🌺 I'm currently 22 and I go by she/her pronouns. I'm in my undergraduate degree, about two semesters away from graduating with a BA in Biology. 

🪷 I met my husband playing D&D so I am constantly working on D&D stuff for our group to play - either for my husband to DM or for me to DM.

🌺 My main area of writing has been modern fantasy in recent years, with some sprinkles of sci-fi, romance, or high fantasy thrown into the mix. 

🪷 I have a couple of projects that causally work on, though that list fluctuates quite a bit sometimes lol. Most would be categorized as either YA or New Adult. 

🪷 I look forward to interacting with others and talking about our WIPs! 

🌺 My asks are open - always feel free to drop an ask or a comment or to start a chat!

🪷 I love sci-fi, fantasy (of all types!), worldbuilding, the found families trope (I might have this in several of my stories lol), supernatural fiction (like vampires, werewolves, witches, etc)

My WIPs

project.ties

My main WIP and the first in a series of modern fantasy novels following a vampire woman from the viking age. Her family is being hunted and threatened, so she’s called to protect a family that forced her out just about two decades earlier. 

project.worldsD&D

My D&D campaign series, I'm currently working on Adventure 2 of 3 since we wrapped up Adventure 1 about two months ago. The PCs are going from the Steampunk fantasy world of Adventure 1 to the Science Fantasy world of Adventure 2 while following and investigating the Divines they encountered throughout Adventure 1.

project.survival

A science/high fantasy/political drama story, as either a pixel video game or a visual novel, following a group of young adults (that are aliens) attempting to survive a game their gods have divised in order to test if their species is still worthy of living - if they fail the game their entire race will be wiped from the face of their planet and all other planets they inhabit. 

project.videogameD&D

My Husband’s custom TTRPG system that’s based around some of the basics of D&D. It’s mostly all his, but I’ve been assisting him quite a bit - especially with typing things up so he has organized notes and things for himself and the nine players (!!!!). 

project.witchcastle

My on and off visual novel project that’s mostly for fun to learn different vn mechanics, especially since project.survival is going to at least have some vn mechanics (even if it is a pixel game)

July Bullet Journal Spreads

Below the cut are my July Spreads, Stardew Valley themed. Super excited for how they turned out and they're some of the first colored spreads that I've done in quite a while. My other planner got damaged by water while I was injured (my ankle is still kind of messed up lol).

I've also been super focused on my creative projects (mainly project.ties and project.worldsD&D) while I start prepping for the Fall Term. More information on my creative projects is over at @quillswriting

During the Fall Term I'll post more here to show my processes and the like while I'm in Uni.

Writing Share: Where the Hell Am I?

This is from the POV of an NPC from project.worldsD&D. He started as the main villain in Adventure 1 and was taken in by the group to hopefully rehabilitate him during their second adventure. He's also now romancable for the players, and at least one of the group is excited for that, lol.

With a groan, Malil's eyes fluttered open. His body ached and his wings felt like they were weighed with lead to make them droop behind him. Dirt and ash lined the floor of his cell as he oriented himself.

He was hanging with his arms above his head, that's what was causing his wings to droop and his body to ache. No, the bloody fight with his sister is why his body ached.

Glancing around proved this was not the cells of the Mountain Keep in the city of Ursa or the catacombs of Artificum. Shiny metal walls that shimmered every few seconds with a blue hue - a pulsing of energy - made Malil hiss and bare his sharpened teeth. A metal box with no way out.

What did Lerissa do with him after he was detached from the Star of Decay?

Where the hell was he?

Finally, I'm working on my D&D world more! Super, super excited to get back to it after so long away. I've been working through Adventure 2 of 3 for us with a potential new addition to the group. As I dive back into this world, I'll be posting a summary of the main beats from Adventure 1 to give more context for my updates on Adventure 2.

I also have a huge list of things to do before we can start Adventure 2 - including props, making character tokens, and making custom character sheets to include some more of the homebrew aspects and give them more space to write!

I'm otw to creating inventory box props for all of my D&D players, which is sitting at a total of seven players and one major DM played character. With several boxes for some of the characters, I'm looking at like 14 prop boxes to make between inventories and spell book boxes.

Shifting Worlds D&D DIY Sheets

So, our first Adventure 2 session is coming up on the 27th (I'm freaking!). Before that, I've gotta finish so many different props and items for the group - in addition to finishing the Chapter 1 outline and reformatting Chapter 0 and Chapter 1.

Here's a sneak peak of my custom character sheets that I'm making for my six players (by hand!) for our next adventure(s).

Other props to make are item and spell boxes for the PCs, item and spell cards for the PCs, a custom DM screen, a DM binder, and potentially a dice tower for me, the DM, as well! We'll see how much I actually get through before the session comes lol.

Adventure 1, Chapter 2 of Shifting Worlds

The players, Masterlist

Amon Drakerock, the dwarven card master.  Anton, the halfing wizard.  Zephyr, the elemental demon absolute healer.  Ghita Skarsgard, the Shadar-Kai rogue that mutliclassed into barbarian.  First Portion: Dug, the alchemical automaton artificer.  Second Portion: Mayis, the tielfing gunslinger pirate.

Chapter Two: The Adventure Ahead

Aboard the ship the PCs talk and bond with the main NPCs Princess Creed, Captain Jassan, and Head Artificer Medrash. Anton nurses his crush on Creed. About halfway through the five day journey, the Alchemical Dragon and its crew begin acting strangely - on edge, aggressive, frustrated, and irritated - save for Medrash, Jassan, and Creed. 

While investigating the airship to find the cause of the crew’s unease, the players discover a locked room, they break in, and in the room they find a large black mirror that was seemingly pieced together in a frame that’s not its own. They find that the mirror is from the All-Mother to the Giants during the Giant-Fae war that nearly destroyed all livable lands of the world thousands of years ago. They break the mirror that seems to show a void staring back at them, watching their every move. It seriously injures Creed and minorly injures several of the players. They continue on to the Cursed Mountain after the crew returned to normal in order to finish their job for the Empress. 

The Alchemical Dragon lands in High Sun, the Elven city on one side of the Cursed Mountain. Across the mountain range is the Dwarven city of Low Moon. They speak with the leader of High Sun, Solaris Reyora Volthar, and are given the most up to date information possible on the situation at hand. There are many more missing people than they expected and exponentially more than were reported back to Empress Lerissa. The group, including Creed, decides the best course of action is to load up on some resources in High Sun before hiking straight for the Cursed Mountain before they lose all of their daylight. On the slope of the mountain the group encounters a group of fiends, and during these attacks Creed collapses to the ground prone clutching her head in agony. After a few fiends are killed, the last one dies a horrific death of melting into itself with a sigil etched into its face. 

They enter the cave system and mined out tunnels of what they’ve come to know as Mereth/Crimson Mountain. After investigating the higher levels, the group descends to the mine tunnels. In the twisting tunnel paths they discover the decaying corpses of many of the missing folks from both High Sun and Low Moon. They find one survivor to rescue and continue to investigate the mines. In the main cavity of the mines they find devils speaking to each other in front of a mirror similar to the one they destroyed on the Alchemical Dragon. While eavesdropping they find out that Lord Commander Malil has staged and went through with a coup d'etat once they left Artificum and they were going to be walking back into a trap to be executed. Lerissa Hellsfenn will be executed in three days. The group collectively decides to abandon their current mission of assisting in the retrieval of the corpses to save their companion’s mother and ensure later payment. They decided, after killing the devils, to take the black mirror and hang it from the hull of their airship as they flew back to Artificum.

Adventure 1, Chapter 1 of Shifting Worlds

Chapter One: Artificum

The story started with Amon, Anton, Zephyr, Ghita, and Dug meeting each other at a skyport station following the same job posting - a call from the Empress of the Rulum Empire to meet with her at Hellsfenn Palace. They meet with Captain Jassan and go with him on the Alchemical Dragon airship to meet the Empress in the heart of the empire, the city of Artificum. Also aboard, the group meets Head Artificer Medrash Classenfair - the artificer responsible for the creation of the Alchemical Dragon. 

In Artificum, they meet Empress Lerissa Hellsfenn, her brother Lord Commander Malil Hellsfenn, and her daughter the Princess Creed Hellsfenn. In a meeting with Empress Lerissa and Commander Malil, they’re made aware of the details of their mission, to investigate the so called ‘Cursed Mountain’ in a new region that recently joined the empire as a ceded region and investigate the mounting number of disappearances in the region. Princess Creed is to join the expedition as an ambassador for the empress directly.

The adventuring party is forced to stay the rest of the day and the night in the palace when it’s discovered that three cadets in the Royal Fleet overheated the delicate engine of the Alchemical Dragon while docked at the palace. The cadets are Prince Aelar “Eli” Goldenfenn, Prince Donnar “Coop” Scalefenn, and Prince Taklinn “Coal” Hammersfenn - the eldest sons of each of the Empress’ rulers and generals in the farther regions of the Empire. Because of their mistakes and the potential danger of the mission the crew of the Alchemical Dragon was about to undertake, the trio are ordered to stay at the palace. 

In the early morning hours of the next day, the crew of the Alchemical Dragon take to the skies toward their destination - one that is several days of constant flight away.

I'm about halfway through writing out the D&D summary for Advenure 1 of Shifting Worlds (project.worldsD&D). The story is in Chapters that usually took up a session - though some went as long as two sessions. It's already hella long so....

PCs

Amon, the dwarven card master. Nephew to the dwarven Queen General Dimva Hammersfenn and originally raised by his parents to be her heir until she had her only child later in life. He originally joins the adventuring party after running away from home to find his own adventure. 

Anton, the halfing wizard. He awoke several months before by clawing his way out of a shallow grave with no memories and very little knowledge of the world around him. He found Zephyr soon after and they decided to work together - Zephyr helps him live in the world and he assist Zephyr in finding his mother. This led him to join the adventuring party with Zephyr. 

Zephyr, the elemental demon absolute healer. Raised by his father, Archfiend Zilgris, and his father’s right hand, Commander Rhenya. His mother disappeared when he was a very small baby, and he came to the material plane from the lower planes in search of his fae mother. This led to himself and Anton joining the adventuring party to continue exploring the continent in search of rumors and clues to his mother. 

Ghita, the Shadar-Kai rogue that mutliclassed into barbarian. She was an elite warrior of the common military class family across the sea in the Shadar-Kai Empire. She was accused of treason and escaped the empire to hide in the Rulum Empire, later joining the adventuring party in order to continue her new line of work as a mercenary in the Rulum Empire. 

Mayis, the tielfing gunslinger pirate. She joined the adventuring party at their arrival to the Mountain Keep in the city of Ursa, in exchange for them assisting her with finding two people from her background that owe her a ship after hers wrecked along the Ursan Coast. 

Dug, the alchemical automaton artificer. He had very few memories of his creator and was on the search for them. He joined the adventuring party in order to get paid and ask the Empress Lerissa if she has any knowledge of his creator. He left the adventuring party when, after bonding with a dark force through a discovered sword, his system short circuited. (The real reason was that the player was no longer able to make it to the sessions due to his job hours changing - so his character was randomly killed off according to his wishes, lol)

Summer Term Gamified Life Goals

My Gamified Life Setup has gotten a bit tweaked and rearranged going from Fall to Summer. But this is my Phase Three Snippet of my goals for Summer. There is a lot, but I am home pretty much all day every day for the Summer Term.

Phase Three - Summer Term Actions

Step One - Focus Areas and Goals for Summer.

My focus areas are: 

Domus: I will organize and clean out the household.

Creare: I will work to progress my creative pursuits and reconnect with my creativity. 

Ego: I will improve my diet and work out in order to lose weight in fat. 

Artifex: I will work to launch my side hustle businesses in order to make extra income for my husband and I. 

My non-focus areas are: 

Pecuniam: My husband and I will continue to pay down debts and budget our money better. 

Praecantatio: I will read more of my witchcraft and spiritual practice books that I already own. 

Relationes: I will spend more time with my friends and family.

Schola & Curriculo: I will prepare myself for returning in for the Fall and Spring Semesters - and graduation at the end of Spring.

Step Five - Outline Habits.

Instead of having habits this Summer term, I’m focused on building my “Daily Musts” since I do most of them semi-regularly and they shoulde be getting done daily/regularly. Before I add anything else to my routines or system, I need to get the “Daily Musts” set into my routine. 

Note: my “Daily Musts” section above is a mix of what would be my normal habits that I’ve already started implementing into my routine and what my true “Daily Musts” are.

Step Six - Tracking of HP, XP, and Gold Pieces (GP).

I will track my HP, XP, and GP mainly in my week’s daily section to keep track of it normally - but I will also track my overall trends over the weeks in monthly sections. 

I will have a recap over the Summer months in the Summer Term section of my planner.

Phase Four - Next Term

Step One - Review my Systems and Assessments

Review how the systems I’ve set in place work.
