So, I've gone back to working at Home Depot while I'm going back to college right? Well, shit is about to hit the fan at Home Depot's across the country. A new policy has been put in place about warnings for not following your schedule to the T, which originally everyone thought only applied to punch in and punch out times. Which would be fine! A lot of people do come in late too often, or leave late, or whatever.
BUT. Home Depot also, technically, schedules what time you're supposed to take your lunch. But NO ONE follows this part of the schedule because you literally CAN'T. The lunch times are so random and rarely work with people's coverage and they frequently break the rule of getting a 30 minute break every 5 hours because of where they sit in a shift. Plus, sometimes they'll be super early in a shift when you just aren't hungry yet.
And the new policy? If you are even a few minutes off on taking your scheduled lunch you'll get an attendance occurrence. (Or half of one, depending on how off you are in your timing.) Once you reach 10 occurrences, which would only take about 2-3 weeks at most of being off on your lunches, you get fired.
Talking to a customer? Too bad, you must drop everything and go to lunch. In the middle of cutting a lumber order for a customer? Too bad. In the middle of a huge rush at the paint desk with no backup that actually knows how to work the paint machines in the store? Too bad. Driving a forklift? Too bad.
The policy goes into effect in a week. People are already crossing out "customer service" and "employee support" (or whatever that one is) on the little values wheel on their aprons. There's talk of a work to rule strike.
Anywho. Prepare for some chaos at your local Home Depot and be patient with the workers going forward. We're not happy about it either.

Keeping up with technology — Biometric attendance system
Tumblr media
In the era of business evolution, time is money and in the present scenario, it is important for the businesses to find ways of reducing the wastage of time. Not just businesses, but even also the corporate offices, startups have their priorities to increase their revenue and to provide the best services to the clients, they need their employees to work effectively and efficiently. That’s where the biometric attendance system comes to the point, a proven technology to enhance the productivity of the employees. Today, we are going to learn about how biometric works and why it is important for each organization to use it.
Introduction:
Let us first understand what biometric attendance system is. It is a technology that is used to gather information about the employee entry time and exit time. Every organization needs to have it as it ensures the verification of each employee working on the desk. The system uses the sensor technology by asking the employee to scan their fingerprints, eyes, iris, or hands etc. Managers can collect data by using for various reasons such as to create attendance records, salary pay, leave pay etc… (Depends on organization to organization).
They are used commonly and much better than the traditional attendance systems like attendance book, badges etc. With biometric attendance system in place, employees can work on positive note, and in turn, would increase work productivity. It also saves money and time when many people work in different times and in multiple shifts.
With this system in place, it is also possible to give access to those employees working in restricted areas or places, thereby putting the system safe and secure. In the process, it also confirms the identity of the employee.
Features and advantages of using biometric attendance system:
1)Elimination of ghost punching:
Biometric attendance systems will only accept registered employees to punch. When an employee tries to punch for another employee, the system will detect it and will show as fraud. Also, one cannot duplicate the biometric data of employee, bringing down the fraud cases in the organization.
2)Enrolment of new employees:
When a new employee joins, he/she gets registered for using biometric attendance system. The software identifies each employee using the face, iris, or fingerprints. This makes easier to manage attendance records, thereby reducing the fraud risks.
3)Employee/Users load capacity:
When the organization has large numbers of employees working, managing them can be a bit challenge. The biometric attendance system ensures that it can store their information and can authenticate many employees.
4)Accurate payment:
With the records of employee’s arrival and departure gets generated in biometric attendance system, the employer can get to know which employee has worked how much, overpayment dues etc. and can pay them accordingly.
5)Mobile app for attendance:
With the advancement of technology, employees can download mobile application to manage their attendance. Makes it easier for employees to apply for leaves, emergency leave requests, check in/out logs etc.
6)Increase in productivity and employee accountability:
When employees save time and feel overwhelmed, he/she will work with increase in productivity, thereby creating a healthy work environment. It will also help businesses to increase their revenue.
Also, an employee can be held accountable in case of unscheduled breaks, too much taking gap, buddy punching etc… thereby ensuring employees to follow rules.
Factors:
1)Always look for durability:
Look for those devices which are long lasting and can work in hot or cool temperatures, depending on your surroundings. There may be too many dust and dirt particles in case your organization is working near road or a under construction building. Keep these factors in mind before purchasing the software so that the biometric system can work properly.
2)Have Support:
In some cases, you may need assistance in case the device isn’t working properly, or there are some software issues. Lookout for those companies which would provide online as well as offline support.
3)Internet connectivity and system updates:
A common scenario, internet connection is required for biometric machines to work. Updating the system regularly and removing bugs in future updates is crucial for biometric attendance system to work efficiently, hence internet connectivity is required for the same.
4)Data backup: Hr or senior manger may want data about the past data of employee data arrival and departure time, maybe for appraisal and promotions. In such a scenario, data backup is necessary in the form of hard drive, through external cables like usb.
Conclusion:
Biometric attendance system is beneficial in many ways and is much better than the old systems. It reduces the manpower and saves a lot of time, thereby increasing the employee’s productivity. Find which biometric attendance system suits your organization and go for it.

20 for the tav/astarion ask😊
Tumblr media
A/N: Reminder that this is based off the Ace!Tav from "I Want It All" and therefor also a bard. I'm picturing this after they get together.
Also, small note. Obviously, I’m still happy to do the prompt, but in the future when making a request, remember to at least say please. I’m not a machine neither is any other writer on this platform.
Prompt: bandaging/stitching up an injury
Astarion x AsexaulBard!Tav Masterlist
Tumblr media
Your hand was throbbing; a steady reminder of why you usually kept to the back in most fights. Your strength lie in talking, not throwing punches. Still, there were times it couldn’t be helped. Luckily for you, Astarion was there to give you as much grief about it as your body already was.
“You really ought to have Shadowheart take a look at this,” he said, carefully dabbing away the blood on your knuckles with a damp rag.
You shrugged. “It’s not that bad. Besides, she’s got her hands full with Wyll and Karlach.”
He hummed in obvious annoyance. He knew you were right, but he didn’t have to like it.
“It may have escaped your notice, but you have spells,” he pointed out. “Next time, I’d suggest using them.”
“Maybe,” you allowed, “but you have to give me points for efficiency.”
He let out an exasperated sigh as he grabbed a fresh bandage and began to wrap your hand.
“Have you always been so quarrelsome or am I just lucky?”
“I prefer the term scrappy. Has a certain charm to it.”
He scoffed. “What like a mutt?”
“A really cute one,” you elaborated. “One of those you just want to clean up and take home. Such as…”
Your eyes went to your joined hands and the very gentle way he was attending to your injuries.
His eyes narrowed before pulling the bandage just a little too tightly.
“Ow,“ you said, dryly.
He raised an eyebrow, daring you to argue.
You rolled your eyes. “Fine. If I get into a tavern brawl again, I promise to hide under the table and let somebody else do the fighting.”
He gave a low chuckle. “Don’t make promises you don’t intend to keep, darling.”
He tied off the bandage, allowing you the chance to test the feel. Your hand still stung, but at least you wouldn’t have to worry about further straining it.
“Tell me doctor, will I ever play the violin again?” you asked, dramatically.
“It’s impossible to say,” he said, matching your performance. “But if there is any hope of recovery, I suggest you spend the remainder of the evening in the arms of the most beautiful man you can find.”
You nodded solemnly. "If I must, I must. Where is Gale?”
Astarion frowned and the next moment you were being pulled into his lap, as his arms wrapped tightly around you.
“Bold words for an injured mutt,” he growled into your ear.
“Woof.”
He didn’t have anything smart to say to that, deciding to silence you with a kiss. You conceded, happy to stay right where you were for as long as he’d have you.
You really needed to try punching things more often.

I was in highschool in the late 1970s, and our "new" computer was a DEC PDP-8, that was five years old or so.
However the school was still largely running on punch cards, and older IBM equipment from the 50s. Attendance for instance, was handled by each home room teacher putting an absent students punch card in an envelope that went down to the computer room, a process that had probably been going on for decades.
There the cards were sorted, and fed into this beast, an IBM 405 alphabetic accounting machine. This is basically a SQL statement implemented in steel, wires, and relays. It would print off a report using fields on the cards fed into it, and could be programmed via a plug board:
Tumblr media
I will never forget the IBM service guy coming in to change the oil on this, the whole bottom of it was relays that just kind of sat in an oil bath.
So if you have computer problems, just be happy changing the oil isn't one of them lol.

Unit Commander John Heinlein was a simple man. Above all, he valued order. Order kept the world safe, functional, understandable. Everyone and everything had its proper place and proper role: like different organs in a body, they all contributed to the overall health of society as long as they did what they were supposed to do and didn’t get any stupid ideas. In that gigantic body, John Heinlen was a fist, and stupid ideas were what he punched into oblivion. Reality was simple, and if it wasn’t, the higher-ups pointed him to the complication and he pummeled it back into simplicity.
As usual, intelligence was spotty. Why exactly this club was a Stupid Idea, John did not know nor did he care. What the informant had revealed was something about women going against their conditioning, although they had not revealed how or why. It seemed patently ridiculous to John Heinlein. Conditioned women were happy, and they made their men happy. Simple, proper. Everything in its natural place. If Fulgrim’s was messing with that, it deserved to be squashed.
Looking at the rest of the Unit, he felt sending them was perhaps a waste of resources. If the informant was correct, they would be facing women and whatever deviants might be attending off-hours, if any; but it was not his call to make, and he liked it that way. His purpose was to punch, not to decide who deserved to be punched.
The six men stood in front of the gaudy purple door. As much as he wanted to kick the door down and be done with it, John played it by the book. He made the signal to place the breaching device and got into the correct position, ingrained in him by hundreds of hours of training. Still, no matter how many times the device blasted the door open, John always felt underwhelmed. Part of him seemed to expect a big thunderous sound, instead of the measured, barely audible “pop” designed not to alert the criminals.
Like a perfect machine, they went in, weapons ready. They were all running on autopilot, relying on their modified genetics and exhaustive drilling. It took only a few seconds for them to reach the same, obvious conclusion. No threats present. Instead, two women stood by the door, as if expecting them. John felt a deep revulsion, something primal stirring within him. It was wrong.
The women weren’t blonde. They weren’t smiling. They didn’t seem pleasant, or demure, or bubbly. In fact, they looked like wolves on the prowl. One had blood-red hair, a leather corset, fishnet stockings and boots that ended in the sort of spiked heels that could kill a man. The other was, to John Heinlein, even worse. She seemed shy, wearing a short skirt and trying to cover up… but her eyes spoke of a deep hunger, a devious intelligence and a depraved longing he couldn’t quite place.
“Oh, I’m so glad you’re here!” said the redhead with mock gratitude. “You see, I’ve been trying to train this sweet little creature right here…” she added as her hand went under the other girl’s skirt. “But I’m afraid she needs a bit of… male guidance. A strong hand to show her the way”
John frowned. There was something strange in the air. A subtle smell he couldn’t fully detect. As he turned to ask his comrades about it, he noticed Johnson shifting his weight slightly. It was a small thing, but utterly out of place for a man of their training. And he could tell the women saw it too. Slowly, seductively the redhead walked toward Johnson, leading the other girl by her wrist. It was surreal, unsettling. But they couldn’t just open fire on females.
“Johnson, step away from the females, now!”, barked Commander Heinlein.
For the first time in his illustrious career, the Commander’s order went unheeded. He watched in horror as the petite woman placed a slender hand on the soldier’s chest and, with a look designed to melt hearts and break down barriers at the same time, pouted like a mischievous child.
“Please, Sir. I’ve been bad. So, so bad… Won’t you teach me? I’m a very good learner… if I’m put in my place”
Meanwhile, the woman in the spiked heels had gone around Johnson, and whispered in his ear as her hand caressed his perfectly sculpted abs and kept moving downwards…
“She can be so good… we both can be so good… but are you man enough to show us you can handle us? Tame us? Mold us into your perfect good girls?”
Johnson was breathing heavily, paralyzed by a million conflicting impulses. He had a job to do. He was a soldier. He was…
And just then, he broke. Johnson grabbed the smaller woman by the neck, and in a swift movement turned her around and bent her over. He couldn’t see the devilish smile on her face, but John Henlein sure did. There was victory in that lustful look, a triumph only magnified when, cock hard as metal, Johnson railed her from behind as hard as he possibly could, his mind gone in a frenzy of half-formed sentences and grunts, the redhead woman rubbing her pussy as she now shouted encouragement.
“Do it! Pound that little slut! Show her what she really is! Fucking break her like the stupid fuckdoll she dresses as! Punish that pussy with your cock! Make her scream for me… make her beg! Make. Her. Yours!”
“Johnson!”, shouted Heinlein in vain. The soldier was gone, and all that remained was a beast, a bundle of muscles determined to conquer the females before it, to claim them and mark them as his. And worse, whoever was behind it all remained unseen, deeper inside the club.
“Fuck! Everyone else! On me! We press on!”
“What about Johnson?”, asked a rookie soldier by the name of Phillips.
“We lost him! Now, move!”
They stormed the place, kicking down doors- no time to play it straight, as much as it pained Unit Commander John Heinlein, for whom standard procedure was akin to a biblical dogma. With every hallway they crossed, every room they breached, the air seemed to get heavier, denser somehow. Sweeter, perhaps.
They entered a room covered in black velvet. It caused a strange effect, almost as if the walls themselves devoured the light. And there, sitting in the middle of the room, long legs crossed, was another female. Like the ones before, she didn’t look like the blonde, obedient women that had undergone the mandatory conditioning. Horror gripped Heinlein. This person went against every conceivable notion of what a woman should be. Clad in a leather corset and thigh-high boots, she stared the five soldiers down with a look of disgust and clear disapproval. Even the sight of their guns was to her just another gauche shortcoming, one in a very long list of inadequacies clamored without words by her deep, green eyes.
“Did I say you could come in?”, she asked.
The question was ridiculous. They were Soldiers. They didn’t ask, they acted. And yet, two of Heinlein’s men started moving their heads, something between shaking off a creeping mental fog and answering the woman’s question. No, she had not said they could come in.
“Get on the ground, and-” started barking Heinlein before the woman cut him off.
“No. it’s not your turn to speak. You don’t talk unless I tell you to, is that clear?”
Unit Commander Heinlein froze. Her tone, firm, in total control, was something he recognized very well. For a moment he was a raw recruit again, undergoing basic training. A part of him, a part of all Soldiers knew to obey that sort of utterance, that confident command. It was part of the crucial training that made any warrior more than a brawler. It was the core of discipline. He knew, at that moment, they were all in grave danger.
“Now, that sort of rude entrance needs to be punished. You all know it, don’t you my toys? But I’ll be kind…ish. How about you start by being a pack of good dogs and kneel?”
Heinlein felt his legs almost give in. He managed to stay on his feet… barely. He watched as most of his squad went on their knees, their eyes wide, fixed on that beautiful woman, seeking every ounce of validation she could give them. Ready to obey.
“Crawl to me, pets”
They did. With a few words, she had made them love her. Adore her. Obey her. Their sense of duty twisted, molded, corrupted. And Heinlein felt himself wanting to join them, wanting so badly to be one of her favorite pets… no, her very favorite. The alpha of the pack. Perfect for her. Obedient for her.
It took a superhuman effort to turn away from her perfect silhouette, her beckoning curves, her voice of absolute command and dominion. The last thing he saw before sprinting away from that goddess of a woman was his once proud squad almost fighting like dogs for the privilege of kissing her heels. How he hated the fact that he wanted to join them…
He tried to push it all away as he ran through hallways, deeper into the club, down stairs, through room after room. Deeper and deeper… the air getting heavier and sweeter… his mind getting fuzzier…
How long did he run? How deep did he go? He couldn’t tell. Different themes passed him by like a blur, and he felt almost as if he was just running in place, the facility moving around him, assaulting him with perverted ideas, digesting him like some monstrous organism designed to destroy everything that was right and natural in the world… but he couldn’t stop. He wouldn’t. Stopping, he felt, would mean the end.
And then, he stopped.
The woman looked like no one he had ever seen. Every part of her seemed designed to short-circuit his understanding of reality, his very core, and he found himself frozen before her, his brain trying to catch up to what his eyes were seeing. She looked like something out of some strange, fae world: she wore her hair in dancing ponytails, one dyed blue, one pink. Her makeup was a striking mixture of neon colors punctuated by tiny drawn hearts scattered over a face that spoke at once of innocence and mischief. She had a single fishnet glove on, mismatched thigh-high socks, a pink and black nighty that hovered between dark and slutty and the most pure chastity… Even her eyes, he noticed, refused to follow any notion of order: one was a deep blue, while the other was an inhuman, alluring red. She was something he couldn’t comprehend, and yet couldn’t stop watching. She moved with a strange liquid freedom, as if gravity and anatomy were vague suggestions she very much didn’t intend to follow. And her smile… he couldn’t quite place what it was: it was joyful, yes, but also shy and yet it had a hint of a predator somewhere deep inside it…
“Oh, hi!” she chirped and bounced out of her purple sofa. “I was fingering myself!” she declared, almost with pride.
Unit Commander Heinlein found himself unable to respond. This… being was not a woman. Not as he understood them, at least. And yet he could feel something stirring inside, something he had forgotten about long, long ago…
“Who are you?”, she asked, her face becoming almost a caricature of confusion before snapping back into a jubilant smile. “I’m Alara! Nice to meet you!”
She ran to him. Normally such an action would call for tactical evasion, or a well-practiced takedown. Instead, Heinlein found himself frozen in place as the girl hugged him. She smelled sweet, like the air around them.
“Are you okay, dude?”, she asked with a look of genuine concern.
“I… this establishment has been deemed… unsuitable and against the… proper conditioning of females… get on the ground, and…”
“Ooooh, the ground? I can go to the ground for you, Daddy! Or do you prefer Sir? Or Joe? You know what? Joe it is! Is your name Joe? You look like a Joe to me. So, the ground! Ass up? Or maybe on my back, legs open? Which one do you want, Joe?”
Heinlein, whose first name was most certainly not Joe, watched as the girl seemed to flow from one pose to another: one second she was on all fours, looking over her shoulder with an inviting smile; the next she was on her back, legs open, her eyes shocked like a virgin about to feel a man inside her for the very first time… then she bounced back to her feet and pouted.
“Come on, Joe, make up your mind! Or do you want me to take charge? Wait! I should have it… here!”. The girl beamed, brandishing a gigantic, double-sided dildo. “Want me to use this on you, Joe? Come on, give me a little something to work with here!”
“Please stay still. Do you understand the situation? You have been… altered. You’re not a normal…”
“Normal? Normal?! Joe, how boring are you? Seriously, how many times can you fuck a blonde big-titty bimbo before it gets so fucking samey? Fuck ‘normal’, Joe! Let your freaky self out to play for once!”
“I do not have a freaky self”
Alara tripped on her own legs and landed sprawled on the carpeted ground before shooting Heinlein a look that might as well have been directed at a two-headed alien, before turning into an expression of pure, profound pity.
“Oh, Joe… of course you do! We all have our freaky sides… don’t think for a second they’ve drilled yours completely dead. It’s there… I can feel it. And so can you, can’t you? Growing inside you. Getting stronger. Don’t you get tired of following orders? Of everything being always in the same place? Of loving the same woman? The world isn’t like that, Joe! People aren’t like that! We are insane, contradictory, fucking twisted messes… and that’s perfect! Come on, Joe… don’t you ever think about doing… the wrong thing?”
Her words dripped inside his head like honey, so much so that he didn’t notice her approaching him, rubbing him through his pants as she playfully made him so confused, so mixed up, so fuzzy and…
“Mmmm… tell me Joe… what’s that thing you’d like to do, that wrong, wrong thing you dream of in the dark, swearing to yourself you’ll never say a word of it?”
“Non-regulation shoes”
His mouth had spoken before his brain had even registered it.
“Oh, don’t like the uniform shoes?”, she teased.
“Uncomfortable”, he mumbled.
“So… why don’t you take them off?”
“On mission. Tactical shoes. Reinforced. Useful”
“Are you going to tactically kick me, Joe? Of course not! No one would kick pretty little me… well, unless I asked… but not with those shoes! Who’s gonna know, Joe? No one’s gonna spank you for letting your feet out for a bit! So… take them off!”
“Can’t. On a mission”
“Oh, for fuck’s- come here, you big dummy”
Alara lunged for his shoes, and made a big show of pulling with all her might. Heinlein watched her, entranced.
“A little help here, Joe? These fucking things are tighter than your ass! I mean, I’m just guessing there”
He moved as if in a dream. He released the lock on one boot, then the other. Alara flew back, boot in hand, before jumping up, holding the black boot in the air like a trophy.
“Victory! Look, Joe! You have one boot off and the world hasn’t ended!”
It was true. He looked down at his feet. He had gone against standard procedure. In fact, he had flat-out broken a strict, simple rule. No one was screaming at him. Nothing bad had happened. If anything, he was overcome by childish elation. Suddenly, his world had shifted. Rules were words. Only that. No more solid than millions of other words spoken every single day.
“Sooooo? How do you feel, you rebel?”
“It’s… good”
Alara smiled and bent over.
“I’m guessing there’s a rule against using a suspect as a living fleshlight, isn’t there? A rule against pounding pussy when on a mission? A rule against using little me as your own personal, depraved fuckdoll?”
“There are many such rules”
“And how do you feel about them now?”
“I don’t give a fuck”
Her screams of ecstasy echoes through the entire club. She pushed him further, and he only growled and, for once, did exactly as he pleased. Alara could only cum, and cum again in victory. Every act was a testament to her triumph. He used her throat, not caring if she gagged, if she choked. He slapped her face and she laughed. He spit on her mouth, grabbed her neck, took her tight asshole. He came once deep inside her, but it wasn’t enough. Alara knew the aphrodisiac in the air gave some… special endurance as well, and she intended to see exactly how long they could go.
By the end her clothes had been ripped off her, her tits were covered in cum, her pussy pumped full three times, her ass abused, her buttocks red with spankings, her makeup ruined. And by the end, he had become anything but a Soldier.
The following day a meeting was called at the highest levels of the government. An elite unit had gone into Fulgrim’s, never to return.
They would have to take drastic measures if they hoped to contain the corruption now growing in their city.

Flash Drive
Lee Jooyeon
Summary:Jooyeon accidentally left the flash drive he needed for a class presentation with you. Naturally you went to his class to return it for him, which somehow ended up with dating rumors about you two. (non-idol au)

It was your off day. You didn’t have any classes to attend to, so you were gonna use your free day to relax, study and get your laundry done. You grabbed your laundry basket and headed to your small utility room in your apartment. You began to load the laundry machine. When you pulled out one of your sweats from the basket you noticed that there was something in one of the pockets. You reached your hand into the pocket and pulled out a flash drive. A wave of confusion washed over you. Why did you have a flash drive in your pocket? You hadn’t used any flash drives recently. Then it hit you. This was Jooyeon’s flash drive. He asked you to hold onto it yesterday because he was paranoid about losing it while you guys went out to dinner after finishing your classes for the day. The flash drive had his presentation on it for one of his classes. That’s when another hit of realization hits you. This flash drive has his presentation on it that he was supposed to present today! You quickly threw on a pair of shoes and practically went flying out the door of your apartment.
Meanwhile Jooyeon has just gone through his bag for the third time. Panic started to settle in. Did he really lose the flash drive that he needed for a really important presentation? A presentation that makes up most of his grade.
“Dude, what are you looking so frantically for?” One of Jooyeon’s group partners asks.
“Just something,” Jooyeon answers while rummaging through his bag, yet again.
“Wait, don't tell me you lost the flash drive,” Jooyeon’s other partner says.
“I swear I put it in my bag,” Jooyeon defended.
“What are we gonna do? You know how important this presentation is.”
“Looking for this?” You appeared behind Jooyeon. Holding the flash drive out, dangling it in front of his face. Jooyeon lets out a breath of relief, letting you drop the flash drive into his palm.
“You're a lifesaver. Why do you have it though?” Jooyeon asked, turning around to face you. Now he is able to take in your appearance. Hair messily pulled back and you're wearing your lounge clothes that you usually only wear at home. He notices that your breathing is a bit labored too. Did you run here?
“You asked me to hold onto it last night. Then forgot to take it back,” you tell him.
“Ah that’s right. When we had dinner,” he said, now remembering that he didn’t put it in his bag.
“Yep, you’re lucky I found it before I washed it with my laundry. Anyway I’m sure you guys want to go over your presentation before presenting, so I’ll leave now. See you after class” you tell Jooyeon.
“See you. Thanks for running this to me.” He held up the flash drive.
“Sure thing. Do well.” You gave him two light punches on his shoulder. With that you took your leave.
“Jooyeon!” a dude a couple rows back called out. Jooyeon turns around to look at the guy.
“Yeah?” he asked.
“Was that your girlfriend?” he questioned.
“Why?” Jooyeon feared that he knew what was coming.
“If she isn't I was going to ask if you could give me her number.” There it is. Exactly what Jooyeon feared. Because technically no, you weren’t his girlfriend. However he was planning on confessing to you. He still doesn’t exactly know when yet, but he is going to confess to you. He could do it sometime next week, next month, next year, sometime in the next ten years, but he was going to do it. Jooyeon definitely doesn't want anyone else trying to take you from him, so he lies.
“She’s my girlfriend.” He only feels a little bad about lying. He does plan on making you his girlfriend, so it won’t be a lie forever.
“You’re lucky,” the guy says.
“I know,” Jooyeon replied cheekily and turned back around.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Y/n I didn’t know you were dating Jooyeon.” Your friend stated upon taking their seat next to you.
“Who spread that rumor?” you laughed. “Jooyeon and I are only friends,” you informed.
“Really? How come people are talking about Jooyeon’s pretty girlfriend who dropped off his flash drive yesterday then?”
“I don’t know. I mean I did drop off his flash drive, but I did it as a good friend,” you say. You wouldn’t have minded dropping it off as his girlfriend though. Truth be told, you thought about what it would be like to be in a relationship with Jooyeon more than you should. Then again how could you not think about dating Jooyeon. He would walk you back to your apartment whenever it was late. He buys your favorite snacks. Even if you’re too busy to actually see each other he always texts you. He leaves little doodles in your notebooks for you to discover later. He insists that it wasn’t him, but who else would have left the exact plushie you were talking about wanting on your desk.
“I guess people just misunderstood then,” your friend said.
“Yeah, I guess.” You wish it wasn’t a misunderstanding though.
After classes you headed across campus to go meet Jooyeon. You took a seat on one of the cement around a big planter.
“Are you waiting for Jooyeon?” a random guy asked you.
“Uh, yeah,” you answered a bit awkwardly.
“I was a bit sad when Jooyeon said you were his girlfriend. I wanted to hit on you,” he disclosed. Wait, it was Jooyeon who spread the rumor about you two dating. That must mean that he likes you too. Why else would he spread such a rumor?
“Oh, sorry to disappoint,” you joked.
“All good. It makes sense that you’re taken. He better treat you right though.”
“Y/n!” Jooyeon calls for you.
“He does,” you answered. You got up to go meet Jooyeon. Who was feeling uneasy because he saw the guy talking to you was the same guy who wanted your number yesterday.
“You ready to go?” you checked.
“Yeah, but uh what were you two talking about?” Jooyeon had to ask. He has to know if that guy was hitting on you despite knowing that you were his “girlfriend”.
“He said he felt sad when you told him I was your girlfriend because he wanted to hit on me.” You gave Jooyeon a look. “Care to explain?” Jooyeon knew he was screwed.
“No.” Jooyeon began to quickly walk away.
“Jooyeon wait!” You caught up to him and grabbed his hand. “I’m not mad, but I do think we should talk,” you say. Jooyeon could only feel partially relieved. He was glad that you weren’t mad. He was still nervous about talking to you about it though.
“Ok,” Jooyeon responded. He let you drag him somewhere where there weren't many people around.
“Why did you say I was your girlfriend? You know we aren’t together,” you questioned.
“I know. I’m sorry, but that guy said if you weren’t my girlfriend then he wanted your number. I couldn’t give it to him though. I know you aren’t my girlfriend, but I was planning on confessing, so I didn't think it would do any harm if I lied a little bit. I was gonna ask you to be my girlfriend in the future. I know it was probably not the right thing to do, but I didn’t want anyone else to steal you from me,” Jooyeon rambled out, long winded.
“Jooyeon.”
“Yeah?” He can barely hold eye contact with you.
“You’re lucky I like you,” you stated.
“Like- like me?” Jooyeon’s heart races. “So you’ll be my girlfriend then?” he questions.
“Yes I’ll be your girlfriend,” you smiled. Jooyeon pulls you into a loving embrace.
“Thank you. You saved me again. It would have been so embarrassing if I had to tell them you weren’t actually my girlfriend,” Jooyeon says from over your shoulder.
“Yeah what would you do without me,” you joked. Jooyeon laughs and pulls away from the hug.
“Come on. Let’s go on a date.” He laces your hand with his. The two of you happily walk off campus together.
Jeff's life was a well-oiled machine, timed to the rhythm of dumbbell clanks and protein shakes. As a top fitness trainer with a chiseled physique, he was the epitome of health and discipline. But life had a surprise in store, one that would turn his well-structured world upside down.
It started one morning when Jeff, famed for his washboard abs, noticed his belly was... different. Not the usual "I-ate-too-much-pizza" different, but "Why-does-it-look-like-I'm-three-months-pregnant" different. A visit to the doctor, and several bewildering tests later, the impossible was confirmed: Jeff was pregnant.
Tumblr media
At first, Jeff thought it was a practical joke. But when morning sickness hit him like a freight train, reality sunk in. His gym buddies were in disbelief, watching their role model swap deadlifts for ginger tea and saltine crackers.
Jeff's journey was nothing short of hilarious. His cravings were unpredictable and fierce. He once halted a training session to devour a jar of pickles. His mood swings were legendary, turning from drill sergeant to weepy mess in the blink of an eye. His once immaculate gym attire was replaced by baggy sweatpants and oversized t-shirts.
Tumblr media
Despite the challenges, Jeff's spirit never waned. He started a blog: "Dad-Bod Diaries," chronicling his journey. It was an instant hit. People couldn’t get enough of his humorous take on pregnancy woes: from his struggle to tie his shoes to attending a prenatal yoga class, where he awkwardly outstretched among expectant mothers.
Tumblr media
As his due date approached, Jeff’s perspective on fitness and life evolved. He learned to listen to his body, trading high-intensity workouts for gentler routines. He began to appreciate fitness as a journey rather than a destination, a mantra he passionately shared with his clients.
The big day arrived with its own set of comedic misadventures. Jeff went into labor in the middle of a spin class. Panicked, he was whisked away by his gym buddies on a gym bench-turned-stretcher, creating a spectacle as they clumsily navigated through the busy city streets to the hospital.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Jeff's delivery room was a circus of laughter and tears. His gym friends, who had become his support system, were there every step of the way, providing comic relief and emotional support. When Jeff finally held his baby, the room erupted in cheers. It was a moment of pure joy and triumph.
Life post-pregnancy was a new adventure for Jeff. He was now not just a trainer but a role model for embracing life's curveballs. His classes were more popular than ever, infused with his newfound wisdom and humility. He even started a "Baby and Me" workout session, integrating his child into his fitness regime.
Tumblr media
The "Dad-Bod Diaries" continued, now filled with anecdotes of juggling fatherhood and fitness. Jeff's story was a testament to the unpredictable nature of life, and the beauty found in rolling with the punches. He had not only transformed his body but also his heart and mind, inspiring countless others along the way.
And so, Jeff's journey continued, one laugh, one lift, and one diaper change at a time.
I am lucky enough that Cinemark approached my college’s animation department with the offer to attend an advanced screening of the first 35 minutes of Inside Out 2.
I loved it.
The original Inside Out came out when I was eleven and I’ve adored it since, so this was a really cool opportunity as a longtime fan and current animator.
So here’s a description of what goes on in the first half hour & some of my thoughts.
Massive spoilers for Inside Out 2 below the cut!!
The movie starts out with Riley’s hockey game. Each one of the five main emotions takes a turn at the wheel during the game. Joy get Riley excited, Anger gives her the aggression she needs on the ice, Fear reminds her to put her mouth guard in, Disgust makes it realize that it’s not hers, and Sadness takes over when Riley is given a penalty.
During her time in the penalty box, the emotions reflect on what Riley has been up to lately. She turned 13, got braces, started growing, and has two best friends she plays hockey with, Grace and Bree. We see the personality islands and it’s noted that Friendship Island is majorly overshadowing Family Island. We’re also introduced to Riley’s sense of self, which is made up of affirmations she has for herself after different memories are added to it (i.e.: “I’m a good friend” “I’m a good person, etc.). It is comprised of different strings that say the affirmation when they are strung. Joy also reveals a machine she has that sends memories to the back of the head, which I guess is like repressed memories.
When she gets out of the penalty box, Riley, Grace, and Bree score a winning goal and are approached by the local high school’s hockey coach. She invites the three of them to hockey camp that weekend, to which they all immediately accept.
The night before camp, the emotions are all in bed. I need to add that Joy & Sadness share a bunk, Anger is by himself as he punches the air, and Disgust & Fear bunk together. Sadness & Joy hear an odd sound and they find the puberty button going off, no matter what they do to stop it. A construction crew comes in & basically makes a mess of headquarters.
The next day, Riley wakes up and she isn’t ready for hockey camp. When her mom asks why she isn’t packed, Anger responds, but Riley overreacts even though he barely touched the console. Sadness and Disgust try it, but Riley’s just having mood swings now and they find the console to be way more sensitive than it used to be. They decide to leave it alone unless they absolutely have to use it.
Cut to the car ride to hockey camp. Riley is telling Grace & Bree how excited she is to play hockey together in high school. Disgust instantly flags a look Bree gave her and Bree’s own Disgust flags Riley’s look back. Grace blurts out that she and Bree are going to different high schools and Riley tries to hold it together until she’s out of the car. The emotions literally have to hold Sadness back 😭
This is where the new emotions show up. We meet Anxiety (I tried to stay normal over hearing Maya Hawke), Envy (she’s voiced by Ayo Edebiri !!), Embarrassment, and Ennui (Joy nicknames him “wee-wee”). We also later meet Nostalgia, a sweet old lady emotion, but Anxiety tells her she’s ten years too early. Anxiety explains her role in things and there’s a joke about how Fear thinks he’s going to get along really well with her. The new emotions all take the wheel, especially when Riley is trying to introduce herself to Val, a cool hockey player at the high school she’ll be attending. Anxiety, out of fear for Riley’s social future, has Riley follow Val and she meets some other hockey players. They all think she’s from Michigan and not Minnesota, but she just rolls with it.
When the girls are all ready for practice in the locker room, Riley & her friends act really immature while the coach is trying to talk. Joy tries to make things better, but Riley laughs at a joke one of her friends made at the wrong time. Coach makes everyone skate lines (I think?) as punishment.
Riley overhears some of the high school players talking about her and how immature she is. When Val is alone, Anxiety makes a plan and Riley approaches her and apologizes for getting everyone punished. Val tells her that it’s okay and that the coach being hard on her means that she’s under her radar, and that it’s a good thing.
Val tells her that they might be on the same team when they split into groups. This causes a divide between Joy and Anxiety. Joy thinks that Riley should stay with her current friends, while Anxiety thinks she should stick with Val. Riley does end up choosing Val’s team and we get a confused look from Grace and Bree.
In Riley’s head, Anxiety carries out phase two of her plan. She tells the older emotions that they’re not needed anymore and literally bottles them up. They’re sent to the Vault, which is a, well, vault that holds Riley’s deepest secrets.
In here we meet Bloofy, a Dora the Explorer/Mickey Mouse Clubhouse-style cartoon character whose secret is that Riley still enjoys the show. We also meet Lance, a video game character Riley has a crush on, whose only defense move is rolling into a ball and moving forward. There’s also Riley’s deepest secret, but he doesn’t really talk. I just have to nerd out over the different animation styles here. Lance, while being 3D, is so pixelated and made to look like an anime-style video game character. Bloofy is fully 2D animated. You had all these animation students in the audience LOVING this scene.
Riley’s deepest secret breaks the jar the emotions are bottled up in. Bloofy uses what is clearly supposed to be the Mystery Mousekatool from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and they’re given three tool options: a tomato, something else I don’t remember, and dynamite. They use the dynamite and blow the door open. I need you guys to know that Lance cannot leave at first because he keeps walking into the wall. And then he just Riley’s secret decides to stay. The cops/guards in Riley’s mind catch them at first, but for reasons that I can’t really remember, they all end up incapacitated (handcuffs on their feet, slipped on coffee, etc.).
The emotions begin their journey to get back to headquarters and take Riley back from Anxiety’s plan.
I think the new emotions will be really good for Riley. I was not expecting Anxiety to become an antagonist, though! I love the new ways they’ve explained different parts of the mind, like the sense of self and repressed memories. The visuals are, of course, gorgeous and the story captures the sheer horror that is being 13.
I really love it so far. I’m beyond thrilled that I had this opportunity, and now I have an Inside Out 2 tote bag. I can’t wait to see the rest of it in June.
