Blue coded characters are often co-leaders/second to the main character. However, they can also be the main character themselves. They usually have a close bond with the red character, and either act as the voice of reason to keep the red character out of trouble, or have a more negative relationship. In which they fight, get annoyed, etc. with each other. Sometimes making the red character look like the better one.
Red coded characters are typically associated with leadership and heroics. They are usually the protagonists of the show. Most red coded characters are shown to be hot-headed and act before they think. When someone is in danger, they will rush to save them before thinking about anything else. A lot of the time they are associated with blue characters as well, whether they are rivals, close friends, or even both.
Orange coded characters tend to control the mood of the room. They're bright (like the sun) and are shown to be optimistic and cheerful. So much, that their smile affects everyone in the room too, making others feel happy. However, their negative emotions can be felt as well. An orange character's color palette may darken when their mood darkens. They wear their emotions on the outside and express themselves.
Purple coded characters are the smart ones. They're classy, reserved and remain cool under pressure. While purple characters keep to themselves most of the time, they sometimes have a desire to be understood. Although they are intelligent, their dreams are often unrealistic and far-reaching.

Wahoo, purple guy. :D
One of the ways I like to draw myself is as a purple, furry creature. (He doesn't look furry here, but that was the goal.)
I like to refer to this guy's species as "Grimace" and I think that's funny.
Anyway, fun art collab with @deathtovalen
Click for (slightly)better quality.
I should probably start posting progress pictures, but until I remember, I always have my watermark, either the full @, or a simple GH on top of each other somewhere. Bottom of Grimace's wrist.
