Hey Just wanted to ask when the next update for Of Feathers and Venom was or if It was almost done. Your Rev is literally my new comfort character lol

It's partially done, but I have been slow now that I have caught up with what I had ready to go.

I am in a tough writing spot—the valley between peaks persé—where low action has to feel relevant and meaningful without being boring. I know what I want to express, but I have to be careful to express it correctly. As such, I keep doing the classic "ah I will sit down and write" and then staring at the flashing cursor exactly where I left it for half and hour.

Unfortunately, I've also had a massive downturn in my health mixed with a very unexpected change in my personal identity with it, which... as honorary, I will explain a little more whenever this chapter comes out on AO3. I normally wouldn't—I try to carry my own burdens—but the tradition of explaining the circumstances under which each chapter is written might be one of the most interesting and enlightening traditions AO3 has accidentally fostered. I would be remiss if I refused to contribute any insight into my own writing and the circumstances that temper it.

It will be a while longer, but I really do appreciate everyone who likes the stuff I write. I am glad you've enjoyed it so much, and I am glad so many people love Revenant with me. I am insanely privileged to have my writing be a comfort to anyone, I am so utterly graced by such compliments; thank you so much!

I have also been blessed to have someone (or multiple?) people request I write more about the other Revenant chassis, which has been really fun as a side project to keep me from growing too stagnant. I was originally going to release it in chunks, but it makes me have ideas for maybe the main story.

I now try to shoot for each chapter landing around 10K words, so I can assure that when it does come out, it will be a healthy chunk. I am just slow and meticulous, but maybe as I improve as a writer my speed will improve too. Time will tell, and if nothing else... I'm sure it'll improve in quality if quantity doesn't improve.

Been trying to not bother anyone, but I am wondering if anyone could send donations. I can't pay rent today (even if I pay the half I will on credit) and more fees are adding on, and outside of some help I've barely been eating for a long time here. I'm just struggling to afford rising costs of living with constant new crises happening, and I haven't been able to get someone to take over my lease, so I can't just couchsurf. Not at all asking anyone to over extend or send me more if they've had, but if anyone could help I'd appreciate it.

(I have seen as many case managers and financial aid advisors as I can and am using every resource I can too! There's just not much where I am now.)

The Lost Files, Chapter 4: 7,840 words. Incomplete. Clogging up the pipeline.

Book 2 (Name TBD), Chapter 1: 12,195 words. Complete.

Book 2 (Name TBD), Chapter 2: 13,439 words. Complete.

Book 2 (Name TBD), Chapter 3: 12,053 words. Complete.

Book 2 (Name TBD), Chapter 4: 9,159 words. Incomplete.

I know it's frustrating to wait, but honestly I think the main thing I'm fighting against isn't a schedule but rather the drive to actually see this through to completion. I know a lot of works go incomplete, never to see an ending. I do not want to do that to this piece, so even if it's slow (I'm sorry!)... I really, really want to complete it. Even if no one reads it through to the end but me.

In more uplifting news: I have been sharing snippets of my new chapters to others to "vibe check" my writing, and I'm very happy that everything I've shared has been well-received! I'm getting increasingly antsy to get that problem chapter done, that way I can begin releasing the second book a chapter at a time while I rest for a bit. I imagine it'll be halfway done before the problem chapter is nice and polished and beta-read, but I'll keep at the problem child. It's too important to get it right for my future story.
