Understanding tempdb Usage in SQL Server for Query Execution
Introduction Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes when you run a query in SQL Server? One key piece of the puzzle is the tempdb system database. In this article, we’ll take a peek under the hood to understand how and why SQL Server allocates space in tempdb during query execution. We’ll also explore how enabling read committed snapshot isolation (RCSI) affects tempdb size. By

what do we think of ro
Oh, the potential. I loved her when she was first introduced--her humor and blunt nature were a breath of fresh air. She provided an alternate pov on the lost cities, the kotlcrew, the dynamics.
She's the princess of the most hated, mistrusted, demonized species in the series, the lone ogre in the Lost Cities (until Bo) kinda against her will. She has to stay strong, and loud, and unbothered; no one can know she misses home or they'll use it as an opening against her.
Her bluntness helps propel certain scenes and moments forward, forcing characters to acknowledge their feelings instead of sweeping it under the rug like they've been doing the whole series. Her confidence and competence are charming
For all that, I'm down. However, recently she's fallen into a rut; her entire personality is being not like everyone else (she HATES sparkles and loves KNIVES and OOZE! đŸ˜±đŸ˜±)--and meddling in sokeefe. Practically every single scene we can count on her to comment or push--past the point of the characters' comfort. Some prodding was necessary and fun, but at this point jesus christ give it a single rest.
We've gotten nothing new since she was introduced. It's become, to me, incredibly annoying. She doesn't have to tease and invade every single moment to still have her invested charm. If we could get some variety I'd be down again, but man
I also covered some of this in this powerpoint I did on Ro for Roisin's first reading rumble :)

How to Balance Fixing Performance Issues and Adding New Features in Web Applications?
In today’s digital landscape, web applications are essential for business operations, marketing, and consumer involvement. As organizations expand and consumer expectations rise, development teams are frequently confronted with the difficult task of balancing two key priorities: addressing performance issues and introducing new features.
While boosting performance improves the user experience and increases efficiency, new features are required to remain competitive and meet market demands. Prioritizing one over the other, on the other hand, might have negative consequences—performance concerns can lead to a poor user experience while failing to innovate can result in a competitive disadvantage.
This blog delves into how to balance improving performance and introducing new features to web apps, allowing firms to satisfy technical and market demands efficiently.
Why Balancing Performance and New Features Is Crucial
A web application‘s success depends on both its performance and its features. However, relying entirely on one might result in imbalances that impair both user happiness and business progress.
Performance:Performance is an important component that directly influences user retention and happiness. Users can become frustrated and leave if the application has slow loading times, crashes, or problems. Ensuring that your web application runs smoothly is essential since 53% of mobile consumers would quit a site that takes more than three seconds to load.
New Features:On the other hand, constantly adding new features keeps users interested and promotes your company as innovative. New features generate growth by attracting new consumers and retaining existing ones who want to experience the most recent changes.
The dilemma is deciding when to prioritize bug fixes over new feature development. A poor balance can harm both performance and innovation, resulting in a subpar user experience and stagnation.
Common Performance Issues in Web Applications
Before balancing performance and features, it’s important to understand the common performance issues that web applications face:
Slow Load Times: Slow pages lead to higher bounce rates and lost revenue.
Server Downtime: Frequent server outages impact accessibility and trust.
Poor Mobile Optimization: A significant portion of web traffic comes from mobile devices and apps that aren’t optimized for mobile fail to reach their potential.
Security Vulnerabilities: Data breaches and security flaws harm credibility and user trust.
Bugs and Glitches: Software bugs lead to poor user experiences, especially if they cause the app to crash or become unresponsive.
Strategic Approaches to Fixing Performance Issues
When performance issues develop, they must be handled immediately to guarantee that the online application functions properly. Here are techniques for improving performance without delaying new feature development:
Prioritize Critical Issues:Tackle performance issues that have the most significant impact first, such as slow loading times or security vulnerabilities. Use analytics to identify bottlenecks and determine which areas require urgent attention.
Use a Continuous Improvement Process:Continuously monitor and optimize the application’s performance. With tools like Google PageSpeed Insights, you can track performance metrics and make incremental improvements without major overhauls.
Optimize Database Queries:Slow database queries are one of the leading causes of web app performance issues. Optimize queries and ensure that the database is indexed properly for faster access and retrieval of data.
Reduce HTTP Requests:The more requests a page makes to the server, the slower it loads. Minimize requests by reducing file sizes, combining CSS and JavaScript files, and utilizing caching.
  5. Leverage Caching and CDNs:       Use caching strategies and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) to deliver content quickly to users by storing files in multiple locations globally.
Why Adding New Features is Essential for Growth
In the rapidly changing digital environment, businesses must continually innovate to stay relevant. Adding new features is key to maintaining a competitive edge and enhancing user engagement. Here’s why:
User Expectations:Today’s consumers expect personalized experiences and constant innovation. Failure to add new features can lead to customer churn, as users may feel your web application no longer meets their needs.
Market Differentiation:Introducing new features allows your application to stand out in the marketplace. Unique functionalities can set your app apart from competitors, attracting new users and increasing customer loyalty.
Increased Revenue Opportunities:New features can lead to additional revenue streams. For example, adding premium features or new integrations can boost the app’s value and lead to increased sales or subscription rates.
  4. Feedback-Driven Innovation:       New features are often driven by user feedback. By continuously developing and adding features, you create a feedback loop that improves the overall user experience and fosters customer                 satisfaction.

Creating an Effective Power BI Dashboard: A Comprehensive Guide
Tumblr media
Introduction to Power BI Power BI is a suite of business analytics tools that allows you to connect to multiple data sources, transform data into actionable insights, and share those insights across your organization. With Power BI, you can create interactive dashboards and reports that provide a 360-degree view of your business.
Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Power BI Dashboard
1. Data Import and Transformation The first step in creating a Power BI dashboard is importing your data. Power BI supports various data sources, including Excel, SQL Server, Azure, and more.
Steps to Import Data:
Open Power BI Desktop.
Click on Get Data in the Home ribbon.
Select your data source (e.g., Excel, SQL Server, etc.).
Load the data into Power BI.
Once the data is loaded, you may need to transform it to suit your reporting needs. Power BI provides Power Query Editor for data transformation.
Data Transformation:
Open Power Query Editor.
Apply necessary transformations such as filtering rows, adding columns, merging tables, etc.
Close and apply the changes.
2. Designing the Dashboard After preparing your data, the next step is to design your dashboard. Start by adding a new report and selecting the type of visualization you want to use.
Types of Visualizations:
Charts: Bar, Line, Pie, Area, etc.
Tables and Matrices: For detailed data representation.
Maps: Geographic data visualization.
Cards and Gauges: For key metrics and KPIs.
Slicers: For interactive data filtering.
Adding Visualizations:
Drag and drop fields from the Fields pane to the canvas.
Choose the appropriate visualization type from the Visualizations pane.
Customize the visual by adjusting properties such as colors, labels, and titles.
3. Enhancing the Dashboard with Interactivity Interactivity is one of the key features of Power BI dashboards. You can add slicers, drill-throughs, and bookmarks to make your dashboard more interactive and user-friendly.
Using Slicers:
Add a slicer visual to the canvas.
Drag a field to the slicer to allow users to filter data dynamically.
Drill-throughs:
Enable drill-through on visuals to allow users to navigate to detailed reports.
Set up drill-through pages by defining the fields that will trigger the drill-through.
Bookmarks:
Create bookmarks to capture the state of a report page.
Use bookmarks to toggle between different views of the data.

Besides fans of each ship which ship do you prefer sokeefe or sophitz?
Looking only at the ships, I honestly don't think I have a preference. Each has its draws. Sophitz has the first friend, showing you where you belong, mental connection and absolute trust, the golden boy and rebel girl, etc draw. Sokeefe has the troublemakers, the broken boy and the girl made to fix the world, the experiments on opposite sides, the head and heart, the screw everything but you, etc appeal.
There are aspects of each that are well suited to a compelling relationship, and I don't particularly care which one it is so long as it's well written. Which is where most of my gripes come in, because I don't enjoy how either was handled. Mainly how hard the story is trying to make it seem like sokeefe was inevitable and the naturally correct end result, rather than acknowledging relationships are choices and letting Sophie actively choose. But that's a personal squick
At their core, both ships are fine, and I've enjoyed talking, drawing, and writing about each. Neither stands out over the other

Blessed with the gift of restoring or beautifying things beyond repair. This could be an object, a garment or you, yourself. There's not a single ending or grief that you've faced that you haven't bloomed out of. Perhaps some of you have found inspiration in it as well. You can find beauty in the mundane and the macabre. You'll always find or have access to some hidden resources. Be it esoteric knowledge, classified sources, intuition or people not really in the public eye.
You're sleeping on your gifts of acquiring wealth. Some of you may have limiting beliefs when it comes to money. You have the ability of being extremely influential with your words but you shy away or underestimate yourself. You'd do amazing in selling/promoting/teaching something but you might think you're not glamourous or confident enough. Both of them are a state of your mind. Some of you can be incredible cooks too, make something simple look appealing and taste exquisite regardless of whether you want to profit out of it or not. Some of you are excellent designers, can stitch fabrics together or put something together like a puzzle piece and make it fit even if they aren't supposed to. With enough awe and wonder you can make yourself happy, something you've been avoiding in the pursuit of keeping up with ever yone else and constant comparison or choosing things to pursue that you aren't supposed to but you end up doing so to prove a point that never gets assured.
PICTURE 2
Such caring and tranquil souls who don't realise that they create their opportunities as they go. You don't have to go looking for them, the more you do they'll elude you. Think of it as looking for your glasses while you were wearing them the whole time. Blessed with the capability of changing lives and circumstances through their thought, ideas and words alone. But you think of it as a power so simple and you seek out more complicated things then wonder why you feel stuck and devoid of curiousity and fun. You're sleeping on your potential to go and see what the world has to offer you and what you have to offer to the world. You might think it's too little but that's far from the truth. You've gathered your perceived mistakes and failures so much that they have piled up in your subconscious somehow. The moment you switch them to what you have gratitude towards, they too will add up and will keep multiplying. You'll either way be guided towards your destiny no matter what.
You have helped others release their burdens but it seems as though you still keep carrying yours with the addition of other's as well. Why? You think you can't execute an idea, you think too much time has or will pass you think you have no relevance. You think too much, so why can't you think in your favour more than once? You're stubborn, so why can't you be stubborn with allowing yourself too walk on your path?
There's an opportunity in everything. The moment you make everything ever in your favour as crazy as it sounds, is when you are prosper.
PICTURE 3
There is power in the unspeakable emotions that you feel but prefer not to. You have the ability to evoke the same emotions in others too. You're perhaps searching for examples or validation from others in regards to what you want to do, where you want to go and what you want to become. But the truth is that you're supposed to be your own validation.
You're meant to be your own example, be as eccentric and revolutionary and chaotic as you wish to be. Some of you are a cult classic in the making and don't even realize it yet. You're like a lightning strike, the poet and the muse. You have the gift to visualise/picture things into existence. You are someone's real life comfort character despite it all You're capable of becoming a healer, taking all the pain and turning into power, inspiring the same in others, you're capable of becoming a leader and an extremely influential person. Use your power well. You're meant to be expressive, you're meant to inspire, to create, to perform, to travel and likely be as many characters as you wish and live many lives, each that caters to your inner child. You can't really go step by step with this, there's hardly any method to it except bursts of energy and inspiration that leads you to where you seek to be. Deep down, you're aware that the only way to live up to this is being a bit strict with yourself, completely accepting your power and contradicting yourself less.
You can easily transmute energy, think of yourself as an alchemist, surround yourself with people and friends who share this vision as well, likey you already are. Stop holding yourself back.

Ok so we've talked about mech dysphoria and dysmorphia before yeah? Your body doesn't feel the same when you climb out of a mech, doesn't feel 'right' anymore.
Too few limbs, not enough sensors, everything feels too big, now that you're not? There's no more combat stims and pleasure chemicals either, you're down to just your stock standard dopamine, which you have a clinical deficiency of now, btw. You struggle to pick objects up, your hands an unfamiliar shape, with not enough strength. You struggle to get out of bed sometimes because you can't tell what proportions things should be anymore?
Yeah, all that has been discussed to death.
What about communication?
What about pilots who, just, can't talk outside of their mech? Become socially inept without all the assistant systems they plug themselves into within the cockpit?
Think about it, mech combat becomes very disorganised very fast if it's allowed to. We are talking clashes of potentially dozens of war machines, the size of buildings, with enough guns to level cities. Orders need to be direct, easily understandable, followed immediately, actually projected onto the pilot's vision.
Every order, every report, every sentence, is punctuated by hundreds of layers of feedback. Tactical simulations and overlays, attachments for battlefield plans, every order having many implied conditions transmitted to the pilot through code and dictionary references to make sure a pilot cannot POSSIBLY misinterpret it in the few seconds before the command should be executed. On top of that, each order can also be wired to project a different cocktail of stim/pleasure chems/whatever have you, ensuring a pilot knows exactly what to feel about the order, establishing the priority of it through the pilots own brain chemistry.
And the same can be true about communications between squad mates! So much of it would be sending those same simulations around as sit reps, or enormous data packets containing not just the words the pilot is trying to say, but also links to relevant information and mountains of meta data, establishing tone, intention, context. Within the cockpit, a portion of the onboard AI is delegated to parsing this metadata, projecting it into the pilots consciousness, speeding up the process of understanding these mountains of digital documents to mere moments.
Now put a person used to that in a social setting. Where they are not made instantly aware of what someone is talking about or referring to. Where they cannot just query an AI and receive every piece of relevant info at once. Where they have to understand the subtext of what that person is saying without any metadata to indicate sarcasm, annoyance, disinterest. Where they are unable to understand the many nuances of communication and body language and expression without the helpful hand of their mech's processors. Hell, where they don't know how hearing certain things should make them feel without the presence of the chemicals to guide their response. Imagine them seeming lost outside of their mech, unable to talk or connect anymore, the social, human part of their brain having atrophied from disuse much like their neurotransmitter production. Imagine them scurrying back to the safety of their mech where, in the digitally overlaid world, everything is so much clearer and understandable and-
