what do you think caused john and paul to break up as bitterly as they did?

It was such a terrible bad bitter no-good very dramatic very nasty public breakup because John and Paul loved each other.

It was imperfect, downright obsessive, possessive, intense, inclusive, and sometimes rather unhealthy, but there's no doubting the love John and Paul held for each other.

What they had was like a marriage. Their relationship was theirs and whatever that entailed well that was just Lennon-McCartney, no need to explain it, and anyone who questioned them or their partnership was immediately shut out.

It's tragic when a love like that, a partnership like that, doesn't work out, for some reason or another.

John was pretty volatile during the end too, the drugs and substance abuse, the fact he was surrounding himself with people who did not actually care for him but wanted to use him, and his spiraling mental and emotional stability. He admitted to setting the fire to the Beatles, not because he hated it or them, or Paul, but because he loved it too much (the monk setting fire to the temple)

I can believe that to a point, especially if the Beatles = Lennon-McCartney.

It was a terrible breakup because John and Paul refused to communicate like rational, mature human beings, they refused to communicate a very vulnerable, sensitive, and complicated subject—their relationship and what it all meant and what each side expected from the other at this point—and because, especially because, these two could not, would not, stand NOT being the center of each other's worlds.

Which circles back to refusing to properly talk it out about their partnership/relationship and what were the expectations and boundaries. Which maybe they tried to in India but it obviously didn't pan out.

You have two morons who are so possessively territorial over what they have, that when a real threat to the Lennon-McCartney dynamic suddenly became real (Linda and Yoko and all that these relationships and partnerships entailed) it sent their respective whole world crashing down and neither could cope or manage. If it couldn't just be Lennon & McCartney then it couldn't be Lennon & McCartney at all.

John and Paul's breakup was so awful because they were basically a husband and wife going through a divorce that one side didn't want but was forced to, and the other side pushed for it all while not being 100% serious about it and yet when the wife finally gave in the husband dared to act shocked and hurt.

And even after the nasty breakup, they were like two exes who were totally not over each other. Blatant pining, yearning, obsessive even when apart, John and Paul were pretty pathetic over each other.

Even today, Paul carries on about John and their relationship and partnership like he's the widower of John Lennon.

That's what I think.

TLDR;

What caused it to be so volatile a breakup is because John and Paul loved each other, they could not cope or manage dealing with even the smallest hint that one might not be the top priority in the others life that it caused their respective worlds to tilt and shatter because they were insanely not normal about their relationship, and neither John or Paul truly wanted the divorce to happen but regardless it happened.

They loved each other, they couldn't share each other because they were also insane about each other, and it's true that the person who is closest to you and whom you love the most, can absolutely devastate and hurt you the worst, and with such ease.

as I go through a few things I find it increasingly interesting how Gabriel is used in the show

he’s a character that was brought in from the unfinished sequel they had talked about

in the tv series he took over the role that the Metatron had in the books with Adam

he was a Jesus parallel in season 2

the Metatron is a controversial angel because he often holds the same place as Jesus and can be confused with him

having now watched the breakup am struck by the fact that we don't actually see it happening

we see them give the news to phoebe, but we don't see roy saying to keeley, "I think we need to break up," especially as keeley says "going on a break," before it's clarified, and then asks him why they're breaking up, so it wasn't all that discussed clearly...

perhaps because it was considered that the breakup basically happened in the last ep of s2, but it's been several weeks since then, soooo...

the structure also has everyone assuming that keeley broke up with roy (which was his fear also/he was just beating her to the punch in his eyes), and it shocks people to hear it was the other way around

interesting choices being made

so we had an episode where keeley told roy that she sometimes needed space and they worked it out a-okay after some conflict

then we had an episode where roy behaved kind of childishly at the funeral, because he was afraid of being vulnerable -- and same episode jamie confesses to keeley he still loves her. but he does communicate it in the end

then we had keeley having her pictures taken, which roy is late to because he's having a chat with his niece's teacher that has... undertones, and meanwhile nate kisses keeley and makes it weird -- they confess this to each other, alongside keeley telling roy what jamie said

notices here as well that none of these things were keeley's doing, but roy has... odd feelings about it

and roy sorts it out with jamie, (although he continues to act weird about him too, but that's practically it's whole own narrative, which sometimes includes but doesn't always include their own stuff with keeley)

then we have keeley being funded to start her own company, and the pictures used in the photoshoot are sans roy, which he says is good, because it's about her -- and while he's not wrong, his intentions can be read as "I'm not good enough for this," especially considering he later on says to the guys it actually hurt his feelings, but he also didn't think he belonged there

overall, does roy feel too has-been/old/unimpressive for what he thinks keeley deserves, and does he put those feelings on keeley, without even giving her the chance to say anything about her side of things? ... but also... she doesn't not still have feelings for jamie... (but it's not... bad that she does? because... they all like each other???)

I'm fuckn. just gonna have to wait and see how this all goes down

is actually invested in a love-triangle, simply because they all love each other in some fuckn way!

but also on this watch, I can see the way roy's issues fucked up this relationship. he wants her to have better, without considering what she actually... wants..... and then he blindsides her

Going onto midnight and I'm awake not quite but almost. Tried to watch something I love until I fall asleep but it's tooloudtooquiettooloud to drift away.

This day was exhausting again. I don't know why still. Everything went well as well as can be. But I'm left with an ache in my body with an itch in my skin with a doubt whispering in my head. What if I still fall short? I talked it through with my mom promised her promised me This time I'll do better. This time I have a plan.

And it's doable. It's not too much.

Too old for this fuss. I should know better by now. Growing is a slow process for me. Maybe make one friend get disappointed by another miss one dearly and wish them well (I know why they can't be around) hold a grudge against two others (I don't know why they are not around) askingaskingasking What did I do wrong to make you not care anymore? Was I too much? Not enough? Did I fall short? (This is not a Them problem. This is a Me problem. Allinmyheadallinmyheadallinmyhead.) There's a reason I feel drawn to damaged fictional people. Because I can write stories for them that do away with the damage and just make happiness. It's harder work in life. Nothing in this world that's worth having comes easy. Give me a bit more strength for tomorrow. Give me a bit of confidence for the aims ahead. Perhaps give me a friend (to share an orange with) to tell me that I'm not falling short.

Updated it a bit. And I don’t know how and why mobile tumblr fucked with the formatting. 1. what’s your favorite way to dress? Either all comfy and loose, fluffy and black mostly combined with a bright colour, or pompous, demanding all-black and fancy.

2. if you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? My patience and my temper.

3. what movie/game/etc. helps you calm down? Movie: Howl’s Moving Castle Game: anything by BioWare Book: HMC, No.6, Harry Potter

4. what does your room smell like? Laundry, dog, gerbils, paper.

30. what instrument do you wish you could master? Any. But especially piano. I’m doing my best, though.

31. how easy is it for you to be honest? Pretty easy, sometimes too easy. But sometimes too hard. You know, pretty normal actually. 

32. do you have any strange interests? That depends on what you think strange, of course. Some might say stalking fandoms on Tumblr is a strange interest ;)

33. do you have any strange fears? Yet again, I don’t know what is strange, cause such things as fear, interest etc. are subjectively perceived and so... I don’t know. Anyway, I have rather strong exam anxiety and talking to people over the phone (and also talking to strangers in general) is also something I’d very much appreciate not to do. I hate large waters, though I love the sea, but I’m anything but comfortable swimming in it. I also don’t like showering or bathing because of the water getting in my ears. Don’t let anything come near my ears in general. It took months for me to become comfortable with in-ears. Guess you could find that strange.

34. what food do you binge on when you’re lazy? It varies. Generally, I like salty better than sweet.

35. when you get angry, how do you show it? Mostly by crying. Not helping, really. 

36. do you have any impulsive movements? (twitches, ticks, flapping, etc.) Does picking your fingers count?

37. what do you listen to music on? Preferably my studio speakers, but also, like, everywhere on my phone and on my sound system at home.

38. are you left brained or right brained? Relatively balanced, but tending to the right side.

39. earbuds or headphones? Both. 

40. do you like light blankets or heavy blankets? Heavy, surprisingly.
