A year ago today west London where I live and the whole of the country were shocked to the core of the tragedy of Grenfell. A year on there are still so many questions that have not been answered so many promises that were made and still have not come to fruition for the victims and their families. I myself currently live in social housing, a block of flats in west London, if you scroll through these pictures you will see what our council have put over our building, the reason why? To stop pigeons getting on our balconies, we have only one exit in this building no fire alarms in the block or sprinklers. This netting is a fire hazard but the council refuse to take it down. Grenfell was a tragedy that we were told would not be repeated, that people living in social housing would be protected and precautions put in place. Instead they are still neglecting people in social housing because we are not affluent enough to cause them concern. We are the working class or part of society living on the breadline that they are trying to ignore because it is a burden to them. Selling whole estates to private development companies so they can socially cleanse an area to bring a higher level of society in. Families of Grenfell are still living in hotels where really they should be giving homes so they can start their lives again instead of being punished for something that was not there fault but still they suffer for it.
