drag racer!toji hcs
Tumblr media
wc : idk :3
content : fem reader, modern!au, no curses!au, suggestive (?) content (reader strips), toji calls reader "minx" and "doll", reader is described to be smaller than toji, slightly oblivious reader, profanity
notes : read this for some context ! drag racer!toji *vibrates* i need. . . to expand on him. . .
Tumblr media
whenever you seem upset about something, toji always tries to cheer you up. he may not be a man of many words, but he always finds other ways to lift your spirits.
after a bad day, you decided to hang around toji's mechanic shop. he's always had a keen eye, so it's no surprise that he picked up on your somber mood quite swiftly. he decides to swing by the break room and grabs two cold cans of your favorite drink. "here, thought this'd cheer y'up." he says, reluctantly offering you the chilled drink with a sheepish expression on his face, avoiding your gaze. "how'd you know i even like this?" you ask, gratefully accepting the metal can that began to sweat under the summer's heat, pressing it to your warm cheek. "saw some empty cans of it when you dropped off y'r ride off to get it detailed," toji replies as he settles his large frame beside the set of stairs you were seated on. "you know," he begins as he cracks his own can open, "y'should keep that ride of yours cleaner. s' a stunner of a car, that's for sure." but his words seemingly go in one ear and out the other. the fact that he remembered such a small detail about you makes you forget whatever had upset you earlier.
rivals to lovers. . . mayhaps. . .
one day, you and toji got into a small argument over who's smarter out of the two of you. so, to settle the quarrel, you both decided on taking one of those completely-bullshit online tests.
as you were diligently taking this "free iq test," you couldn't help but notice toji repeatedly clicking the "c" option. . . for every single question. jokingly, you asked, "why are you choosing 'c' for everything? do you wanna lose?" with the biggest shit-eating grin spread across his scarred lips, toji replied, "well, when in doubt pick 'c', right?" in that moment, your expression changed from shock to amusement. shaking your head and laughing, you couldn't believe that of all people, toji was the one you couldn't get over.
unsurprisingly, toji is really street-smart
one time, the cops raided a race that you and toji were supposed to participate in. as you were hurrying to get to your car to make a quick getaway, you noticed toji struggling to open the door to one of his older cars that he chose to race in that night.
"fushiguro! leave it, we don't have any time!" you shout at toji over the loud commotion and sirens. "they're gonna tow my ride!" toji growls back, growing more impatient at the stuck door handle. "you're worried about the wrong thing right now. just get in my car, shiu'll figure something out! he always gets everyone's shit back if the price is right." you reason. toji notices how your tone only grew increasingly concerned, so he begrudgingly complies. "fine, fine. i'll go with you. jus' drop me off at the shop. or swing us around the spot for a bite, all this crap has got my stomach grumblin'." he sighs as he ducks down into the passenger seat of your car, clicking his seatbelt on. you raise a brow at his notorious freeloader suggestions. "your a real piece of work, fushiguro, y'know that?" you joke as you pull out of the crowded meet-up scene. "s' only fair! you don't ask a guy out and not buy him some grub," he huffs, jokingly crossing his arms across his broad chest and turning to face the window. "that is definitely not what the saying is, and i definitely did not ask you on a date!" you exclaim, exasperated. toji really is something else.
another time, you stopped by toji's shop hoping he could walk you through an oil change on one of your older cars. the truth was, you already knew how to do it, but you just wanted to spend some time with toji.
"tojiiii?" you called out in a sing-song tone, but he was nowhere in sight. it wasn't until he heard your honeyed voice ringing through the shop that he hopped off his ass and jogged over to greet you, his cheeks stained with grease and his white tank top and jumpsuit covered in it. not that you were complaining, but you wished you could see him wearing his jumpsuit properly instead of with the upper half tied around his well-defined torso. "wha'sup doll? why're you here dressed up nice?" he asked, resting his hands on his hips as he scanned your smaller frame. "thought you could show me how to do an oil change on one of my older cars. . . but i completely forgot how messy this place can get. i shoulda worn something else, huh?" you nervously grinned, not prepared for the possibility of rejection. "oh, yeah! no worries. f'sure i can. i got some spare jumpsuits and tanks you can change into. don't worry 'bout it." your request initially shocked him, but he grew excited at the opportunity to both spend time with you and teach you something. "seriously?! you're the best, toji!" you exclaim, gratefully taking both of his large, calloused hands in yours. toji blushes. "don' mention it. it's nothin'." he replies before retracting one of his hands to run down his face, unable to believe the effect you have on him. he starts to lead you down to his office so you can change into some more appropriate clothing, but he forgets that your hand is still in his. the skin-to-skin contact is short-lived as he lets go of your hand to unlock the office door. "here're the smallest jumpsuit and tank i got. lemme know if y'need anything-" he says, turning to hand you the clothes. however, he soon gets choked up mid-sentence as you've already started stripping your top off in front of him. "yeah! i'll get you toji, don' worry." you reply, your voice muffled from behind your top. clearly, you don't understand the effect you have on toji. "what're you doing, you minx? i'm still in here!" he splutters as he clambers out of his office, both his ears and neck now warm. "fucking christ. . ." he groans, making his way towards the washroom to cool down his face with some water.
after that entire fiasco, toji often played pranks with you while you were under your car changing its oil. he does all sorts of things, from splashing water on the lower half of your frame that hangs from under the car to dragging you out by your ankles. he's so annoying (affectionate).

IQ Tests and Success
After a long and satisfying afternoon nap, I suddenly got the urge to setup a blog and take an IQ test. Random right? But doing those things felt right, just like any random and life changing things I've done in the past.
Upon taking a free and 30+ item test, multiple self-depreciating thoughts crossed my mind:
What if I score lower than average?
Should I really be doing this in a nice saturday afternoon?
What would this test contribute to my well being?
After 20-ish minutes of adding up numbers, tracing directions, and basically doubting my intellect, I finished the test (which asked for credit card information that I respectfully skipped).
I got a score of 135 . What does it mean?
After a quick google search, here are what came up: Online IQ tests are fraud.
IQ scores are not measure of success.
My country has an average IQ of 81 (which is not surprising given the political and social conditions of our country).
All in all, taking this test is not completely a waste of time as it gave me an ego boost and something to do apart from beating my 14 hour sleep streak.

I want to enhance the agility item I just upgraded. Upgrading costs eggs. I am out of eggs. Eggs cost grain. I am out of grain. Grain costs gold medals. I am out of gold medals. Tapjoy offers 17 free gold medals if I take a quick IQ test. It doesn't matter what I score, I'll get gold medals either way. "I'll be able to buy more grain with those medals!" I start the test. 50 questions. 4 of the 50 questions ask me to look at colours. I am a little colourblind. 4 of the 50 questions are unsolvable because I am a little colourblind. May luck be on my side. I complete the test. My IQ is: 84% "That's odd, I don't remember IQs being a percentage" I give myself a headache thinking about how different the world might be if IQ was measured in percentages. I return to my game and find myself 17 gold medals richer. I buy more grain. I am out of gold medals again.

All-Inclusive Guide To ADHD Private Diagnosis Cost
How to Cut the Cost of an ADHD Private Diagnosis
Tumblr media
On the internet, a growing variety of private ADHD assessment services are providing a quick and accurate diagnosis for a minimal cost. However, they come with some significant risks such as the possibility of a misdiagnosis. It is essential to remember that any healthcare professional who conducts an assessment should be a specialist in the area of ADHD. This includes GP's and consultants psychiatrists. Costs The cost of medication for adhd can be prohibitive. However, there are ways to lower the cost of treatment. For private adhd assessment , some patients can receive prescriptions through their GP or private health insurance company. Others can benefit from free ADHD evaluations offered by certain private companies. These free or low-cost evaluations can save families a lot of money over the long term. A reputable private provider of ADHD assessments will take your financial needs into consideration. They can also offer various payment plans to suit your budget. You can choose from various options, such as deposits and five payments or a single payment in front. These services are not intended to replace regular healthcare. It is recommended to consult your doctor or an ADHD specialist. The cost of treating ADHD can be extremely high, even for people who have health insurance coverage. In addition, the disorder can lead to co-existing disorders which can result in other costs, including alcohol misuse anxiety, mood, and sleep disorders, as well as a higher risk of accidents. These issues could result in the cost to society of $122.8 billion annually, according to a study released in 2022 that looked at health insurance claims as well as academic and medical research. In the US, adults with untreated ADHD can cost the country more than $13,000 annually. These costs are primarily related to indirect health services that include lost income and productivity. Other indirect costs include social security benefits, supplemental disability insurance, and other types of welfare. The National Health Service of the UK government has a policy called Right to Choice, which allows individuals to receive NHS-funded ADHD treatment and assessments outside of their locality. These tests are typically conducted by a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist who has been trained to diagnose ADHD. They will conduct a thorough test and may also recommend other treatments, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or counseling. They will also provide an account in writing to the GP and may prescribe medication. Waiting at various times It is time-consuming and costly to diagnose ADHD particularly in adults. A visit to a specialist may be accompanied by additional testing like an IQ or blood test. If you're not insured or a health insurance plan, you may need to shell out thousands of dollars to receive an assessment. There are ways to cut down on the cost of an ADHD assessment and treatment. The wait time for an in-person ADHD evaluation can be long. Many have discovered that they have to wait years for a GP referral, which can be difficult when suffering from symptoms of ADHD. There are a few NHS-approved services that offer shorter waiting times. These services are accessible via the online GP referral system, or by using Right To Choose. The service providers listed on this list are all assessed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). For adults, the most effective medication for ADHD is methylphenidate or amphetamine salts which have been proven scientifically to improve symptoms. These medications work by blocking the reuptake certain neurotransmitters within the brain. This reduces hyperactivity and inattention. The drugs can cause negative side effects like sleepiness and a loss of appetite. Some people experience difficulty adjusting to the medications, while others find that they don't work. When evaluating a patient for ADHD the professional must take into account their personal history as well as how they're performing in the workplace, at home, and in relationships. This information is collected in an ADHD diagnosis that is used by professionals to determine if a patient is meeting the ADHD criteria. The GP may refer the patient to an ADHD specialist for an evaluation and possibly a prescription. The NHS has been criticized for its slow provision of ADHD treatment, especially after an BBC Panorama report revealed that certain private clinics were overdiagnosing the condition. The investigation was criticised for not considering a bigger issue of the poor availability of ADHD services in the public health system. The report did emphasize that ADHD is a real condition that affects a lot of adults. Medication Many patients who undergo private adhd diagnosis in Scotland do so to receive treatment. They realize that their untreated ADHD is having a detrimental impact on their education, work relationships, and financial situation. They may even receive treatment for anxiety, depression and other disorders that could be more effectively managed if their ADHD was properly diagnosed and treated. In addition to taking medication, a therapist is also able to provide behavioural therapy as well as other kinds of assistance. This can be extremely helpful in dealing with the symptoms of ADHD and helping the patient learn how to manage the condition. The cost of a private therapy can be prohibitive for certain families, particularly those with no health insurance. A GP may diagnose ADHD in a few patients, but they are unlikely to prescribe medication for the condition. GPs do not have the knowledge or the training required to identify ADHD or prescribe medication. Additionally, they aren't required to sign a shared-care agreement with the NHS for medications that are prescribed privately. Neuropsychologists and psychiatrists are the best professionals to perform ADHD assessments. A GP may diagnose ADHD but they are not able to provide the thorough assessment required to develop an effective treatment plan. In certain instances the GP might refer the patient to an expert for a diagnosis and a treatment plan. The majority of health insurance plans don't cover the cost of ADHD evaluations or treatment. Some organizations have specific guidelines for what they will cover, but others simply refuse to cover a lengthy and complicated assessment process. In fact, a recent study conducted by ADDitude magazine found that more than 16 percent of its participants reported that the costs of managing their ADHD exceed 10 percent of their annual income. If you are unable to pay for the entire cost of an ADHD assessment should ask their GP to recommend them or consult an expert on their own. They can assist with assistance with finances or payment plans. In some cases, they can arrange for an assessment to be completed in installments to aid in meeting their budgetary requirements. Counseling If you're an adult who suffers from ADHD, seeking professional help is a good idea. This will help you recognize the signs and symptoms and determine if medication is needed. Counseling can also help you deal with the challenges of ADHD. A reliable counselor will be able to provide you with guidance and help that could make a significant impact on your life. Many people even those with insurance, are unable to pay for health care. Some have come up with strategies to stretch their healthcare dollars for example, buying prescriptions online or requesting samples from their doctor. Some have even taken on another job to pay for the treatment. Some adults have been able to access services that are free or discounted by their employers or local mental health clinics. While some people have success in finding psychiatrists who accept public health insurance, these providers are not easy to locate. They are typically busy and have a limited number of openings which makes it difficult to schedule an appointment. Tests and interviews are an integral part of the thorough assessment that psychiatrists who treat ADHD conduct. They typically ask about family history, past experiences, history, and current problems. They might also perform additional tests to determine if a person has a comorbid condition like depression or anxiety. These tests may include IQ tests and memory tests. They may also include inkblots and mental health assessments. They may also perform tests for blood and physical examination, based on the individual. A private psychiatrist can provide a more thorough and faster diagnosis than the NHS. Private psychiatrists are skilled in diagnosing adults suffering from ADHD and can offer a range of therapies. It is important to understand that a private diagnosis does not mean that you automatically get ADHD medication. To receive this medication, you will need an agreement for shared-care from your GP. A new service dubbed Klarity is designed to give adults with ADHD a more affordable option. It costs $149 to have an initial consultation and 59$ for follow-up appointments. The company also offers a monthly program that includes medication and therapy. The monthly charges range from $299 to $595 which is a little higher than the typical cost of private treatment for ADHD.

Benefits of IQ Tests
IQ tests are sometimes hyped as the be-all and end all but that is not the truth. Human intelligence is complex and hard to capture with IQ. However, IQ test play a critical role in establishing a benchmark to judge against and develop a baseline of intelligence and grasping power. They are also loads of fun. Many top companies such as Google and Facebook use IQ tests for employee interviews. As such the importance of IQ tests can’t be denied in measuring a person’s overall skill level and possible future performance as a professional or in other avenues.
Tumblr media
Types Of IQ Tests
There are different types of IQ tests that try to measure intelligence in an accurate and comprehensive way. Let’s look at them in detail.
Stanford Binet Test
This test is mainly used on young children to identify any developmental or intelligence issues to correct them. It measures five factors and gives an intelligence score to the test taker.
The Factors under testing consideration are:
Knowledge
Mathematics
Visual inputs and processing
Memory recall
Fluid logic
By judging the test taker on these five factors, the Stanford Binet test is able to create a complete picture of the intelligence level of the user across various categories.
IQ Test Wechsler
This is possibly the most widely used IQ test in the world. Published in 1955, It tests verbal IQ, performative IQ, visual cues, and their responses and assigns a score to the test user. The standard age range for this IQ test is 16 to 90. This IQ test is mostly used on adults and for professional job interviews and settings. It provides a more detailed analysis of the person’s intelligence and unlike Stanford Binet, provides multiple scores to measure the intelligence level of a person more accurately and comprehensively.
It Is sometimes used as a medical tool to measure the effect on the brain after an injury to check which functions of the brain are working and which are not. I remember making a receipt of ableism on terfrecords before having people being ableist towards the person who said it in different ways.
So uh, list of things I never want to see on replies and reblogs of my posts of all things (and I don't care how common it is)
(Bold is for the quick main statement)
Using delusion or delusional as an insult. Or using it in a way to say someone's political opinions are wrong.
Say that someone is a bad person because of a mental illness and not an asshole with a mental illness. Theres a huge difference between the two.
Use lack of reading comprehension as an insult. Its a symptom of learning disorders, one that I specifically have.
Call things "smooth brained" like that's a legitimate condition that kills people
Call people bipolar as an insult
Call people autistic as an insult
Call someone a “psycho” or “psychotic” as an insult
Call someone a psychopath or sociopath as an insult
Insult people based on IQ. The IQ test has a huge history of being used for eugenics and people are still mistreated for having an under 100 IQ.
Use mentally ill as an insult because someone is being a dick. This should be obvious but it happens all the time.
Tell someone to "get help" in a derogatory manner.
Call someone who's pissy about someone "triggered" or use it in an insulting manner.
Use cripple as an insult or without the right to reclaim it (usually mobility disabilities)
Use retard as an insult or without the right to reclaim it (usually learning disorders, especially autism)
"Extra chromosome"
I'm never going to specifically name anyone because this blog has like over 3k followers and it is an honest mistake most of the time. But uh, please stop taking part in the demonizing of disabilities on a disabled dudes posts.
Some of these don’t seem like much, right? I mean, most of these aren’t calling people slurs (except for two). The thing is though, the less the language is used, the less “othered” these people will be. You never know what common language truly upset someone with a disability and made them feel more stigmatized when noticing or learning about their symptoms.
So it may seem like I'm over sensitive, but the fact that these are so fucking common should show people how far we still need to go with ending stigma and discrimination of disabled people, especially those with mental disorders.
Feel free to add more or even ask me why or to give more examples on these.

Quirkless!Deku AU where when All Might offers OFA to Deku, he kindly rejects it because he wants to prove that he can be a hero without a Quirk (All Might even said that he has what it takes to be a hero just before offering it to him)
All Might is honestly taken aback by this, but he understands and tells him that he’ll be supporting him on the sidelines
Deku starts training on his own, preparing for the UA entrance exams
Bakugo takes his as a challenge when he sees him at the entrance exams, but he shoves him off as in over his head
Uraraka and Iida still meet him in the usual way, except when Deku saves her from the machine, he doesn’t smash it to bits, he instead just physically frees her leg from the rubble and helps her out
This gets him enough hero points to pass, but considering his Quirkless condition, he isn’t considered for the hero course and his IQ test doesn’t make him a good candidate for the support course, so he’s put in general studies
He tries to have Nezu reconsider, but Nezu only tells him that if he can prove himself with test scores and physical exams, he can be considered for a transfer
In GS, he meets Shinso and they become quick friends who share the same goal
The USJ attack happens, but since All Might still (apparently) has OFA, he’s able to beat the Nomu without exhausting himself as much as he originally did
Deku does visit him in the hospital afterwards, blaming himself for not being there to do something to help, but All Might assures him that it’s not his fault
Deku joining the sports festival without a Quirk makes him more competitive and drives Bakugo even more mad when he gets first place
Deku and Shinso both train their asses off for the sports festival, hoping that it could be a good chance to get them into the hero course, but since they train together, their fight is more difficult than that, but Deku easily wins either way because plot armor
His fight against Todoroki would go differently because he doesn’t know him, so he doesn’t understand what Shoto is going through, so he isn’t throwing the match for him since he’s only focused on proving himself. IDK how he would win against Todoroki, but I need to have Bakugo eat shit fighting Quirkless!Deku
it’s getting late so this is where I’m ending it here but you get the gist

Giftedness is a Spook
I personally think giftedness is a stupid concept. Basically, it’s the idea that certain children, so folks under the age of 18, are “smarter” in some general or abstract sense than others, or more competent, more talented, more skilled, “better thinkers”, whatever. This concept originated pretty much in the 19th and 20th centuries, where we began consolidating under the “intelligence” label and categorizing people based on “how smart” and “how dumb” they are. There is a lot of baggage associated with the term giftedness, a lot of it historical and bigoted, so let’s investigate and such.
The most used definition of giftedness is having an IQ score above 130, or two standard deviations above the mean of 100. Though this historical definition has faced lots of criticism, since it is clearly possible to have superior ability in some domain without having a conventionally high IQ score, such as in the arts, or debating and public speaking, or sports, or chess, or really anything really.
Due to the fact that the “IQ above 130” definition of giftedness falls short of actually capturing all high-achieving children, most modern gifted education programmes no longer use this as the sole indicator of giftedness, and rather adopt a more multidisciplinary approach. Now, most simply look for superior skill or talent in one or more key areas, which can be art, or sports, or leadership, and attempt to cultivate that, as well as looking for people with a generally higher IQ than the average in their age group.
The issue with this approach is that it views giftedness as some sort of intrinsic, fully general, conserved property that is only found in certain sects of the population, and thus categorizes people into “gifted” and “non-gifted”. This categorization falls short in part due to the existence of “twice-exceptional” students, who are gifted in one area, but require unique accommodations in other areas. So it appears that it is possible to be “gifted” and “non-gifted” at the same time, so just how useful is this concept?
What’s more, giftedness often focuses on general cognitive traits, such as gifted children have greater white matter density, or faster information processing speed, or hear sounds faster, or think more critically, but from my perspective, these just seem to be variations in human characteristics, in the same way that some children are taller than others or start puberty earlier than others. Everyone develops at their own pace and there are plenty of people who develop out of the norm, especially since concepts of child development almost always exclude neurodivergent children and their different cognitive and psychosocial milestones.
And they are not necessarily NATURAL or inevitable variations in human characteristics either. All the traits associated with intelligence - information processing speed, critical thinking, white and grey matter density, working memory capacity, creativity, executive functions, enhanced senses - are heavily influenced by societal factors.
For instance, a child that has been well-fed since birth is obviously going to have a more developed brain with a higher capacity for all those things than a child that has suffered chronic hunger. A child that receives nurturing and good parents is going to have a more developed brain a child that receives abusive and neglectful parents. A child that grows up in a war zone is going to be different cognitively and intellectually than a child that grows up in a relatively peaceful location.
And those developmental consequences aren’t always natural in the sense that they are innate, they are artificial, engineered by politicians, corporations, and a society that absolutely refuses to take the suffering of children seriously. Yet the children who have been disadvantaged by this abusive society are unlikely to be categorized as gifted. These children show lower scores on IQ tests and the school system thinks they’re dumb, or worse “average”. These children don’t show superior performance in any particular area, there must be something wrong with them, they’re not “special” like these gifted kids other here. They don’t need special help, they just have to follow the curriculum for the regular or the *gasp* dumb kids, geta 9-to-5 job, and wait 50 years to retire, they won’t be these gifted kids that change the world.
LAME. This is lame. This is the wrong way to think about the differences that exist between children. And what’s worse, it’s so definite and unchanging, as if the traits associated with intelligence cannot be changed. As if we can’t help children with their working memory capacity, or their creativity, or their critical thinking, or their executive functions. As if we can’t help children find something they enjoy and let them cultivate that activity. These are all skills that can be taught, but they aren’t taught at all. We just let the bell curve “form naturally” and then take the kids on the right-half of it and label them “gifted” and then discard the rest, even though we are capable of teaching them those skills.
Giftedness promotes two unhealthy narratives: (1) being average isn’t good enough and (2) being below average is bad. With regards to (1) and (2), it completely ignores all of the facets of a good life, or what can be a good life. In my view, a good life is one that you enjoy and are proud of. Where you have strong relationships with others, actual freedom and control over your life, where you have things that you’re good at or enjoy doing, where you are proud of what you’ve accomplished. It has nothing to do with “having a higher working memory capacity” what the fuck?
There is value in being “average” or “mediocre” or “below average” or “stupid”. You can still produce art that people enjoy. You can still be a good athlete. You can still get really good at a specific area of academia. You can still be a competent engineer. You can still connect with others and mean something to them. You can still travel the world, drink wine condescendingly, and have a good time meeting people and seeing things. You can still contribute to society, and you can even make innovations that change it, but you don’t have to make a “significant contribution” to a worthy member of society. You can still care about others. You already change society, just by being part of it, and that is enough.
Focus on the experiences you want to have, the relationships you want to build, and the skills you want to learn, not on “I want to be smarter” or “I want to have better memory” or “I want to be the best”. It’s okay to want to be smarter, or to have better memory, or even to be the best at something (since it’s not possible to be the best at EVERYTHING), but those things are relative.
When you become “smarter” at something, or the “best” or just better, at some specific domain, you will find that all the traits associated with intelligence tend to increase with regard to that specific domain. For example, when you get better at chess, you develop better problem-solving skills associated with chess, or more critical thinking in regards to games, or better memory for recalling chess piece arrangements or movement formation or techniques, or faster information processing speed in regards to processing your opponent’s and your own moves, or better “chess logic” or “chess reasoning skills”, or the ability to understand and reason about chess on it’s own.
Intelligence is relative and domain-specific, the superior memory you would develop in chess won’t cross over to, say, memorizing decks of cards, or generalize into just having a superior memory for all things. That’s not how human brains work, they are highly specific and skill-oriented. So when you focus on becoming “smarter in general”, you are essentially setting an impossible goal, because it’s not specific enough for you brain to be able to systemically learn and apply it. You have to be specific if you want to make any progress, after all, and this applies to our constructs of giftedness.
We have to be specific! We have to let children choose their interests and hobbies and help them develop natural talents, as well as explore their interests and help them reach a suitable level of competence, where suitability is determined by THEM, the child. When you let them develop interests and hobbies of their own choosing, they naturally will get “smarter” in that area, you know, better working memory and stuff in that regard.
And even if they don’t reach expert levels of performance, or perform averagely or even below average, it doesn’t really matter, since it’s not something they need to be an expert in. For knowledge that is universally relevant, like comprehensive sexual education, you should work on ensuring that your average is a high standard. But if the piece of knowledge or skill doesn’t meet “nigh-universally relevant” or “necessary to function in this society”, then who cares how will people learn it? Especially since they can always come back in the future and re-learn it, or improve on it.
We also have to address child suffering and ensure that all children have good and strong support networks, are well-fed, have medical care, are free from abuse, etc. This makes it easier for them to actually have the time, energy, and cognitive capacity to choose their own interests and hobbies, AND work at them. It also helps them make relationships, explore, learn, and make a good life for themselves.
Also, a quick note. Interests are just things that you like to do or have a feeling for; hobbies are recreational pursuits that you actively engage in. So, an interest can be looking at pictures of castles online, a hobby can be actively seeing castles in person. It’s more or less an arbitrary distinction, but I like to use them in tandem to cover all the bases.
