Profiles in Villainy

Murky Dismal

A denizen of Rainbow Land, Murkwell ‘Murky' Dismal is a diminutive troll who loved color when he was a child.  So much was his love of color that he used crayons to brighten up all of the walls of his home.  This dismayed Murky’s mother and she insisted that he clean it all up.  The ordeal took years and left the traumatized youngster with a deep and burning hatred of color.  

Murky became a great scientist and inventor who used his technological prowess toward the goal of transforming Rainbow Land into a dark, gloomy and colorless realm.  He aligned himself with the evil Dark Princess who dubbed him a knight in her villainous campaign to bring about an empire of darkness. Fortunately, Murky Dismal and his ingenious inventions have proven no match for the heroic Rainbow Bright and her allies among the Color Kids.  

Actor Peter Cullen provided the voice for Murky Dismal.  The villain first appeared in the debut episode of Rainbow Bright, airing on December 13th, 1984.
