The terrible, hand-made, looks-like-primary-school-child made it ones!

Glitter, trashy fake 'lace', glue sticks and pinking shears! She likes the different textures. And she likes making them ALL, because she always tailors them and the attached gift to the recipient.

eg: Andaeros gets it with a 'bouquet' of pens or 'vase' of ink with a paper flower; Raxwell gets a cigar--sometimes of terrible quality, and sometime terrific; Fiorenze usually gets macarons and chocolates; Jencir gets something 'star' themed; etc

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

Ricard started out as the FFXIV version of one of my WoW characters - Raxwel, but with some tweaks to his backstory, which in turn led to some adjustments in how I play him. Those adjustments were the first things I decided about him - he was still going to be a little shit (and he very much is a little shit), but the reasons why and how that played out in his day-to-day was different.

He's an outlet for my snarkier side - and a nice change of pace from some of my other boys who are much more straight-laced.

He wouldn't consider any of his 'talents' to be particularly impressive, but his opinion of himself isn't exactly stellar either. That being said - he is a skilled fighter (even if he has a tendency to be a bit reckless with his own health for the sake of protecting the people he's working with - the company healers have gotten onto him about that a time or two), and - though he'd NEVER talk about it - he's a really good cook.

His own - He knows he's stubborn and broody - he knows he has a tendency to take things too personally, to take things too seriously, or to throw up walls in an attempt to protect himself, and he knows these things and he isn't all that fond of them. He's actually been working to try to change some of them, but it's very much a work in progress.

Others - He doesn't do well with the 'holier than thou' attitudes - he grew up dealing with those and has a very low tolerance for them at this point in his life.

2. what inspired you to create them?

Osric was the first character Ieveled through the MSQ - and at the time I still wasn't sure whether I was going to RP in FFXIV or not. I can't say that there was any one thing that inspired me to start writing for him - as with most of my characters, I figure them out via scenes and short stories as I go along.

(I will note that the credit for the backbone of his backstory goes to @hadriel-ffxiv - I took his suggestion and ran with it.)

4. do you enjoy writing them more than other characters?

Depends on the day, honestly. I cycle through which character feel like writing for. Some days, Osric is more enjoyable. Other days it might be one of my WoW boys (Amorthon or Raxwel) and other days it might be one of the other FFXIV boys (Ricard or R'zevi). They all have aspects I enjoy, and it just depends on how I'm feeling that particular day.

The mail pile seemed larger than usual, a rogue postmaster thinking themself hilarious in mixing some mail on April 1st, but it seemed some managed to get to the addressed locations while others were received incorrectly.

“Wot fuckin’ monster wears pants in a pool?” Kat questioned with a heavy sip of whiskey. “It’s shit like this that gives us Gilneans a bad image. Idiot.”

Crumpling the picture in her hands, the Director quickly deposited the wadded mess into the waste bin.

“Likely no’ fer me, anyway. Simpletons and their obsession with flesh...”

DWC - February 2023 - Day 1

Day 1- Love is in the Air/Weakness

It was years later, and she still felt the sting of a Love is in the Air endured alone. She’d spent so many years happily paired that it was always a bit of a shock to be on the outside of the holiday. Tinnaire wasn’t resentful of the couples. She could smile and feel true warmth in her heart to see so many happy people together. And, presently, she was quite content with her life.

Even so, she checked her mail every day, with a wisp of girlish excitement. Tinn was able to smile and sigh away the disappointment with more ladylike expression, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t have liked to get something.

And she was perfectly  aware she hadn’t given anything out, so it was hard to truly expect anyone to send anything to her. She had people she cared about, so why not send something out? It wasn’t all about lovers, after all. She still had time.

So crafts had taken over her living room coffee table and she sat on the floor in her silk nightgown cutting out felt hearts in a variety of colors. She made some of them in black and put tiny mouse bones along the edges for decorations--that was for her.. She burned the edges--oh so carefully with her fire magic--of paper for  distressed looks and made a ridiculous ‘treasure  map’ with a heart instead of an ‘x’ to mark the spot. On some, she glued on glitter and attached old lace.

She had bought a few small boxes of chocolates at the market that morning and affixed a decoration to each.

Black heart with tiny holes poked through and glittery paper placed behind--it made passable ‘stars’. She had painted soft washes over in gracefully curving lines--recognizable as Northern Lights. This one would arrive late, unfortunately, but the decadent variety of chocolates would be enjoyed nonetheless. She packed it carefully for Northrend.

A bright red bold heart with a large monogram of “AD” painted on top. This one she could leave today, hopefully he would appreciate knowing she thought of him. A little gift card to a local used bookstore was tucked inside--it seemed his sort of haunt.

Vivid green hearts went on a small, satin box that only had three treats inside--but they were the richest and the prettiest. Just like their new owner. She would drop it off in the morning. It wouldn’t be the richest gift this friend got, but it was heartfelt and Tinnaire knew the recipient’s gracious heart would be pleased.

Brown and black like old leather--or a cigar?--these hearts opened into a little card that read, “R.B.” Inside there were no chocolates, just a tiny bottle of Silvermoon style whiskey and a cigar she’d bought from a goblin. Hopefully it wouldn’t explode! She would have to mail this one, too, as she hadn’t seen him in Dalaran in quite awhile.

It made the holiday so much better to be active, Tinnaire decided, rather than passive. She was pleased with her creations, even if it left her living room glittered and flocked for a few more weeks.

Does being a general pain in the ass count? No?

On a more serious note - Ricard has always been perceptive, good at picking up on patterns of behaviors and little deviations (something that was very useful to him as he got older). He just always considered it 'paying attention'.

2. what inspired you to create them?

Ricard is the FFXIV spin on one of my WoW OCs, Raxwel, with some adjustments to his backstory and personality. I very much enjoy Raxwel the way he is - but had some 'what ifs' floating around in my head, especially in regards to his relationship with his family and how things might have turned out if things had shifted juuuuust a little. Ricard got those what ifs - and while the two share quite a few qualities, there are some significant differences. (Raxwel has a bit more...restraint than Ricard does in areas related to work. Ricard is much less of a playboy - just to point out a couple.)

5. what’s your favorite thing about them?

He's such a SHIT.

There are things I'd NEVER write on Osric or R'zevi that I can write with Ricard because he sits in that grey area - where as Osric and R'zevi are both pretty straight laced.

And he's fun to write.

The Investigator’s Place

the hermit who helps

At first, you were a resource for the established characters to turn to, but you quickly began to steal the show due to your personality, your usefulness, or your inherently interesting perspective on life. you were pretty much already able to provide for yourself, but the next thing you know, these people are growing on you. instead of asking favors, it becomes an invitation to socialize. you find yourself sticking around for no apparent reason other than you like it here. the people are fun to watch, if nothing else, but ultimately they're just--oh no. oh no, you care about them. you always thought you stayed away from this "relationship" stuff for a reason. it gets messy and isn't worth it unless it really works. for some reason, this group really works. these weirdos are now your weirdos, and if anything happens to them, there will be hell to pay. you were basically already looking after them before this, after all. welcome to the family, hermit.

I love this because I always tend to like the side characters in shows way more than the main protagonist LOL.
