Dream's eyes become comically wide, just expression looking more fit for an startled hare then a human, but he looks back at Tommy, then at Wilbur, then at Tommy again, then at Wilbur again, before pointing to the blond himself

"I- Yes?" The tension left Wilbur's body, flushed out by confusion, "was he supposed to be invis or something?"

But Dream isn't paying attention anymore, looking at Tommy with horror, a hand covering his mouth

"Were you real this whole time?"

Goodness this is like the third episode in a row begetting discourse among the cr fandom. For me this discourse has two perspectives where the division depends on whose perspective you're looking at;

For the armies it was 'We've been sent by the gods and are here to help you stop Predathos as we pla-wait, you're a vessel of Predathos? Isn't that just like Ludinus planned??' which yeah is valid from their perspective

For the Hells it was 'We just came out of 4 back-to-back battles with Ludinus and Predathos itself, we have a solution to save the gods but change the dynamic but we want to discuss it privately with the gods first and now you're trying to kill us!?' which is also valid

What puts me more on BH's side is that we have the context; BH are allowed to be terse when people try to kill them and fail, least of all allies who don't ask for an explanation before asking their god to come down and smite them. They're not villains because they snarked at the person who attempted to sic their god on them, and it's not as if Imogen sic'd Predathos on them in retaliation. Once again they are met with the thankless job and burden that they neither wanted or asked for, but was thrust upon them anyway. With all the times Bells Hells have been criticized for being aimless and indecisive it seems a little strange to criticize them now for being focused and decisive.

Could they have explained from the start? Maybe. Would it have caused a different reaction the moment they said Predathos is in Imogen? Probably not. I can't tell you why they didn't come out of the Cage and immediately explain because I'm not the players; perhaps they wanted to avoid the hysteria and conflict, perhaps they were drained from the fight and wanted to wrap up the episode, or perhaps it was just down to Bell's Hells, as with all CR campaign parties, being infamously bad at communicating, I don't know.

But it's times like these where it's worth reminding that this is a DnD show, nerdy-ass voice actors having fun, it can't always be clean and clear-cut storytelling every second. And sometimes as a fandom we need to take a step back so we don't get ourselves stuck, because we're probably making it deeper than it is and getting annoyed at each other over our interpretation of two groups from the same side getting annoyed at each other. Just, take a breath.

Grian was texting Scar good morning while he walked down their driveway to check on the mail.

Scar was visiting his family for a week but they still texted back and forth like crazy.

He hit send on the message after adding an embarrassing amount of "<3"s when he saw there was a letter written to him. Not spam or coupons or taxes for once.

To Grian Solidarity at their shared address from Scar Goodtimes at his old family house.

Grian raised an eyebrow and quickly retreated inside to open it. He found a piece of paper along with a folded picture that he held off opening.

My Dearest Grian,

Off to a good start, he supposed, settling comfortably on the couch.

I am writing this letter to you because I miss you so so much! I know that's silly to say as we've been texting all this time and I literally just got off the phone with you (you know the call),

Grian felt his face heat up at the memory. It was only three days ago he had called Scar and they ended up having sex over FaceTime. Grian fell asleep on the call but it seems Scar instead wrote a letter.

I guess to say I "got off the call" is incorrect though as I can still see your absolutely adorable sleeping face as I write this. I love you and I miss you and I can't wait to see you next and be able to hold you while you sleep instead of just watch. Hm, normally in a letter I guess I'd have to start talking about what's happening in my life but you already know everything! I'll just have to tell you about my super handsome roommate then!

Grian rolled his eyes fondly and flipped the paper over to continue reading on the back.

He's the best person I know. We moved in together just two months ago now but I'm so happy we got a place together that we can call a home. He's my best friend and to tell you the truth: I'm in love with him!

Grian didn't know why he was blushing. His boyfriend was just way too cute.

I think he likes me, too, Grian. Isn't that exciting?! He's brilliant and beautiful and super sexy and very kind! I think you'd get on well. Anyway that's enough of that! I'm rambling in letter form which is pretty annoying to do cause my hand is starting to hurt.

Grian's heart felt so full as he finished reading the love(?) letter. It was oddly thoughtful and absolutely adorable.

He carefully put it to the side and unfolded the picture, half expecting a dick pic as he knew Scar's humor.

Not that he would mind-

Instead, it was a photo of Scar (fully dressed) surrounded by his family. Grandparents, his mom, uncles, aunts, cousins. They all looked so happy. On the back of the picture in the corner Grian found the words, "I had them all say Hi Grian! instead of cheese".

It was silly, it was simple, it was cute, and Grian wished desperately to one day stand next to Scar in a photo like that with both their families together.
