The sun beamed through the bay window of my living room, filling the air with the chirping of birds and scurrying of squirrels. It was a surprisingly joyful sound that welcomed me on my first real day in Los Angeles—a city I had dreaded joining.
Maybe my initial judgments were coloured by my New York roots; after all, I was unquestionably a city girl. I've always found comfort in the sounds of the city; cars honking, people scattered everywhere living their lives-that was the life I was used to. As much as I was excited about the new chapter of my life, there were qualities of LA that would take some getting used to, things that puzzled me.
Like why was it always so damn bright here? The sky, the buildings, the houses-all of it seemed to glow with an intensity that demanded sunglasses just to step outside. And why were the houses so enormous? It seemed ridiculous. I only need a bed, a bathroom and a kitchen yet here I was in what they called a condo, but felt more like a mansion with its space.
But despite my initial objection to LA’s charms, I couldn’t deny the peacefulness of the palm-tree-lined streets and the birdsong that greeted me each morning in a way New York never could.
I rolled onto my side, glanced at my phone, and sighed. 10:00 am already. There was still so much unpacking to do, and no one to help.
These first days were going to be busy. Pushing myself off the less-than-comfortable bed, I shuffled to the kitchen where the only thing I had set up so far was my Keurig machine. Leaning on the counter, I patiently awaited that first magical cup of morning coffee. Glancing outside, I squinted at the brilliant sunlight that threatened to overwhelm me. Seriously, why was it so damn bright here?
The coffee machine groaned, signaling it was ready. I turned to grab my mug when a sudden crash shattered the quiet. Instinctively, I dropped to the ground.
Peeking slowly over the counter, I discovered the cause—a baseball sitting right there on my kitchen floor, glass scattered everywhere around it.
I chuckled softly and shook my head. One thing I wouldn’t miss about New York: the reflex to duck for cover at every unexpected noise.
Moments later, the doorbell rang, nearly sending me into cardiac arrest. I approached guardedly, peeking through the side windows. A little girl stood on my porch, her expression guilt-ridden.
I opened the door, looked around for a parent nearby before crouching down to her eye level. “Hi there. Can I help you?”
Her small hands fidgeted with her zipper nervously. “I… I accidentally hit your window with my baseball. It’s inside your house.”
I smiled warmly. “It’s okay. What’s your name sweetie?”
Her eyes glanced up slightly, a light sniffle coming from her nose. “Katie."
“Well, Katie, I’m Y/N. Let’s go get your ball, alright? Are your parents around?”
She looked around and shook her head. “My daddy’s inside. Mommy’s not here.”
I nodded, retrieving the ball and returning to find Katie waiting patiently on the porch. I couldn’t help but giggle at her adorableness. Despite the broken window, I looked forward to having children around, filling the street with laughter and play.
Carefully navigating the scattered glass, I handed Katie her ball. She beamed up at me as I closed and locked the door behind us. “Where’s your house? I’ll take you back to your dad.”
Katie pointed to a massive white house next to mine, surrounded by a high fence and perfectly kept lawn which only peaked my curiosity.
Following Katie to her gate, I watched her disappear inside the house quickly, calling for her dad to come to the door. I waited patiently and suddenly anxiety filled my chest at the concept of meeting my new neighbour in this way.
It took a few minutes, but finally the little girl returned with a larger figure I could barely see from where I was standing. He approached the door and with every step he took towards the light, the more my breath got caught in my throat.
I knew him—or at least recognized him from somewhere. His piercing green eyes met mine, and suddenly it clicked: Jensen Ackles. I struggled to maintain composure, reminding myself he was just a person like me, despite my heart threatening to burst from my chest.
“Can I help you?” His voice was direct, cutting through my nerves.
I managed a polite smile, trying to gather my thoughts. “Hi... I just moved in next door. Your daughter accidentally threw a baseball into my kitchen window, and she came over to...”
“Katie!” His sharp voice interrupted, causing me to jump. He turned to his daughter, arms crossed. “What did I tell you about throwing the baseball around? This is the third time this month!”
Katie’s eyes dropped, on the verge of tears. I wanted to comfort her or maybe scold Jensen, but I knew nothing about parenting. Still, seeing him yell at her harshly made my anxiety rise.
The worst part of this whole situation though, was the way he was glaring into my soul, arms still crossed, a deep frown on his face. It felt like the very essence of my being was completely ruining his day.
He sighed, leaning against the doorway with a hint of apology in his eyes. “Is that all, or is there something else?”
I faltered, sensing his impatience. “Uh, no, that’s it, I guess.”
“Okay. Thanks, bye.” With that, the door closed, leaving me staring at the wooden texture of my first celebrity encounter.
As I walked back to my house, I couldn't stop the sadness that crept in. It was my first day, and it had already started roughly. I wondered if I would ever warm up to this place.
Tumblr media
An hour later, most of my boxes were unpacked, clothes neatly put away away, and a single family photo hung in the hallway that was taken at a family reunion over a year ago. Our family wasn't the photo taking type, and that's one thing I vowed to change, because as I stared at the empty wall with the lone photograph, I felt sad.
But when I looked around my spacious new home, I felt a sense of relief. The morning’s drama and anxiety had faded away.
I grabbed my coffee and stepped onto the front porch, sinking into the swing that came with the house. Examining the neighborhood, I noticed kids playing—biking, rollerblading, and drawing with chalk.
My gaze landed on Jensen’s front yard. Katie was there, playing with a little boy who looked just like him. Jensen was noticeably absent, which didn’t surprise me.
I headed out to collect my mail, when I heard a familiar voice calling my name. My heart warmed as Katie waved at me from her yard. Returning her wave with a smile, I realized maybe I wouldn’t hate this place after all.

"I hate you." "You have a weird way of showing that." - Rachel Gatina Prompt Response
Tumblr media
Summary: Rachel, who has never spoken to you before, approaches you to ask for a favor. Despite what Bevin said, Rachel decides that she has to gauge this whole "being into girls" thing properly. And she's picked you to help her with that. ...Lucky you.
Pairing: Rachel Gatina x Female!Reader
A/N: Prompt from @creativepromptsforwriting (#941). I started quite a few scenarios for Rachel's response to this prompt but none of them felt right until this scenario popped into my head. I tried to keep this as 2000's as possible. Hope this is okay.
Both characters are over eighteen.
This is meant to take place right after the Bevin and Rachel bathroom scene in 4x13.
Unbeta'd so all mistakes are mine.
Warnings: mention of implied sex; internalized homophobia (I hope that's the correct term)
Word Count: 3757

You were just getting your books out of your locker when someone suddenly appeared next to you. You glanced over to see a familiar redhead smirking at you. You rolled your eyes and went back to your locker. “What do you want?”
Rachel Gatina had been the new girl at Tree Hill High who was giving Brooke Davis a run for her money and her non-exclusive boyfriend. Now, she was besties with Brooke and constantly toggling between mean girl and party girl. Either way, she had never been very nice to you or anyone else (except Mouth) who wasn’t in the “cool cliques”.
“Can’t one senior come over to say hello to her fellow senior?”
“When said senior has never spoken a word to this fellow senior? Then no.” You slammed your locker shut and moved past her to head to class.
“I’m speaking to you now.” She was keeping pace with you, great.
“Oh, well then let me put my entire day on hold since Queen Rachel is speaking to me.” You turned a glare on her.
“Not queen, just…maybe a little royalty.”
You rolled your eyes again and kept moving. You were going to be late for AP Lit and you did not want to be late for that class. Mr. Barton had a rule that he enforced with an iron fist: one minute late, no class for you. He would lock the door and not unlock it again until the class was over.
“As it so happens, I need a favor.” She was still following you.
“Oh, imagine that. A favor.” You still didn’t stop.
“Oh, come on. For someone I’ve never spoken a word to before, you’re being awfully harsh, don’t you think?” She wasn’t wrong. The truth was that she intimidated you a little bit. And that was your go to when it came to intimidation: pushback and biting sarcasm.
“I’m late for class,” you threw at her. “And if I don’t hurry, I’ll be—”
She grabbed your hand and yanked you off to the side, right into the girls’ bathroom.
“What the— Rachel, what are you doing? I’m about to be locked out of class.” You hurried towards the door but she blocked you. “Rachel,” you growled. “The bell is about to—”
The bell rang before you could finish your sentence. You had now officially been marked absent from Mr. Barton’s class and you were locked out. Great. You were screwed.
“So you miss one class, big deal. It’s not like you’re flunking.”
You crossed your arms and sighed. “How would you know that?”
“I asked around. I make it my business to know. Now, about that favor.”
“That you made me miss one of my most important classes for.”
She laid a hand on your shoulder. “Don’t worry. Just tell Barton you had a girl emergency. He’ll offer you a make-up paper before you can get out the word ‘tampon’. Besides, it’s not like you’ll be lying to him exactly. This is a girl emergency.” She smiled, placing her hand on her hip.
You walked over to the gross looking tampon dispensing machine and gestured to it. “If you needed one, it’s right here. Are you out of quarters?”
She smirked and flicked her hair back. “I like you. It’s a shame we didn’t talk before this. I get the feeling we could have been friends.”
“A cheerleader hanging out with a loner? Yes, I can definitely see that.”
“You call yourself a loner?” She laughed. “You’re far from it from what I’ve heard.”
You narrowed your eyes at her. “And your emergency is?”
She pressed her lips together and sat on one of the sinks, swinging her legs back and forth as she settled. “I’m not sure how to ask this without sounding…you know, gay, so I’m just going to ask.”
Your heart started to pound at the word ‘gay’. Oh no.
“Will you kiss me?”
Your eyes widened and your heart stopped altogether. Was she for real?
She gave you an encouraging smile. “It’s just to see if something Bevin said is true or not.”
“Bevin?”
“Yeah. We had class together last period and we had to do this stupid assignment together. She said this thing and now I can’t get it out of my head.”
“So let me see if I’ve got this right. Bevin said something to you in class during an assignment you both were working on together and that had you finding me, who you’ve never spoken to before, to push me into the bathroom with you to ask me to kiss you but not wanting it to sound gay. To see if what Bevin said is true or not.”
Rachel shrugged. “More or less. Yeah.”
“Right.” You immediately began opening stall doors, seeing no one was in here thankfully. You then began checking underneath the sinks, the bathroom mirrors, anywhere a recording device of some kind could be installed.
“What are you doing?” She asked when you quickly looked under her sink. “I said a kiss not…that.”
“Wouldn’t you be so lucky,” you snapped. “I’m looking for recording devices of some kind. Someone hidden in here who’s going to jump out and let me know I’m on Punk’d or Candid Camera or something. Maybe you’ve got a couple of the cheerleaders hiding somewhere with a camera to take a picture. Maybe Brooke and a couple of jocks are just waiting outside the door to laugh and spread rumors.”
Rachel crossed her arms. “You are way too paranoid, you know that?”
You shrugged. “Can’t be too safe, especially when it comes to high school. Especially this high school.”
“I’ll have you know that most guys would be dying for the chance if I gave it to them. if I asked them to kiss me, they would already be over here, all over me.”
“I’m not a guy in case you haven’t noticed.”
“Of course I noticed, that’s why I asked.”
“So, you’re just looking for any girl to kiss you. Is that it?” Lucky you.
“Not just any girl. You.”
“Why me?”
“I’ve heard the rumors.”
You tensed up. “What rumors?”
She leaned forward. “You know. And I know you’re into me, even if you won’t admit it.”
She was right; you weren’t going to admit it. “Right, right. Question, how did you fit through the door just now with that massive ego of yours?”
“That’s not the only thing of mine that’s massive.” As if to illustrate her point, she leaned forward a little more until you could see straight down her cleavage. Well, she certainly wasn’t lying.
“Alright, first off, those rumors aren’t true. Secondly, let’s say I do this for you. What do I get in return?”
“This is a favor, not a deal,” she scoffed.
“How long would this have to be for?”
She shot you a look and sat up. “Wow, talk about giving a girl a complex. Is the idea of kissing me really that horrible for you?”
“I didn’t say that. I’m merely trying to determine what I’m going to be asking in trade.”
“Now, it’s a trade.” She huffed a laugh in disbelief. A moment later, she glanced over at you. “Five seconds. No more, no less.”
“Okay then, what I want in return is this: you never tell anyone about this.”
“That’s what you want in return?”
“Yep. I want your word that you won’t whisper a word of this to anyone. When you go away to college and you’re experimenting or whatever, sure you can mention that one kiss in the girls’ bathroom one time, but not here in Tree Hill. Never here in Tree Hill. Or to anyone from here and that includes Brooke. Deal?”
She gave you a nod. “Deal.”
“Alright.” Now you were feeling nervous and self-conscious. “So do I, uh, just come over there or do you come over here or do we meet in the middle or—”
“Just come over here,” she ordered, impatience coloring her tone.
“Okay,” you muttered, moving over to her.
Rachel studied you and you began to feel like an exhibit in a museum or something. “So, we doing this or—”
“Shut up.” She cupped your face and leaned in, pressing her lips to yours.
You were sort of having a little meltdown in your brain right then. Rachel Gatina was kissing you. The beautiful, cocky, queen of mean, sexy cheerleader Rachel Gatina was kissing you. Ever since she’d arrived, she had been turning heads, even yours. You never had the courage to approach her or say hello to her, even at a party the two of you were at. Especially since she didn’t seem all that nice. Never mind the whole cliques thing, Rachel had been right; there were rumors going around about you. Most of the girls on Rachel’s side of the hallway so to speak avoided you like the Plague and only acknowledged your existence to make fun of you or gossip about you if somehow the rumors got a second wind (which you made sure they never did, not from you anyway).
But Rachel was beautiful although personality wise, she wasn’t exactly your type. Though she did prove to be a lot smarter than she let on. You may have asked around yourself, overheard a few things. Plus, you had it on pretty good authority that she may have been the one to cause the whole time capsule business which then led to— You didn’t want to think about that. Now or ever quite honestly. Besides, Mouth had made you promise to keep it to yourself about the capsule. It was obvious that even Mouth had a crush on her.
You counted down the seconds in your head as you enjoyed the softness of her lips against yours, the smell of her perfume, the feeling of her hands on your face. When you reached the end, you went to pull back but she tugged you back in. Not only did she keep you there but she deepened the kiss. You could have sworn you felt the edge of her tongue against your lower lip.
You continued counting in your head and by 27, Rachel finally let you go. You took a step back and watched as she held her fingers up to her lips, staring at you. Then she did the last thing you expected (or if you were being honest, you totally expected it). She laughed out, “Oh my God.”
There it was. You waited for the joke, for Brooke to pop out of a stall that she mysteriously appeared into and begin laughing and pointing, for the whole school to start filing into the bathroom, one by one, to join in the merriment. “Yeah, that’s usually the reaction I get,” you muttered, wiping your lips with your fingers.
“No, not you. I mean…Bevin was right.” She laughed again, seeming almost pleasantly surprised.
And there was the joke. “Great. Glad she was. Now, if I can be set free from this Bathroom Bastille, that would be awesome. Thanks for the laughs.” You gave her a peace sign and began to walk towards the door. You fully expected to find some cheerleaders or Bevin or Brooke on the other side of it.
“Hey! Hold up a second.” She jumped down from the sink and grabbed your shirt sleeve to stop you. “You don’t have to act like kissing me was such a revolting thing for you to do that you’re now relieved it’s over. You really do know how to give a girl a complex.”
“I know how to give a girl a complex? You’re laughing after you kissed me. What about that doesn’t give a girl a complex?”
She nodded, sticking her hands into the back pockets of her jeans. “True. I’m sorry. I wasn’t laughing at you.”
You arched a brow over at her.
“Scout’s honor.” She stuck two fingers up in a gesture that you were pretty sure they didn’t use in the Scouts but you kept that observation to yourself.
“Then what were you laughing at?”
She looked uncomfortable then and you had to wonder if she had been telling you the truth just now. “That Bevin was right. …And not.”
“Right about what?”
She bit at her lip. “Okay, here’s the thing. I don’t know you just like you don’t know me. So if I tell you this, you can’t tell anyone at all. Even if they’re not from Tree Hill. Like ever. Got it?”
So, she also had a secret that she didn’t want getting out. You could understand that. You held up your fingers in the actual Scout’s honor sign. “Got it.”
Rachel looked uncomfortable again but her discomfort also seemed to be tainted by a little sadness. “I was telling Bevin that I never really feel anything with the guys I sleep with.” Ah, you knew where this was going. “I mean, I got this new body and everything but it didn’t change anything. Except for how they looked at me.” She bit at her bottom lip again which you were starting to see may be a nervous gesture on her part. “So, Bevin said she always wondered what it would be like to be a guy, checking out chicks. And I said that might be my problem, maybe I was into girls.”
You kept your face carefully neutral but inside you were half-shocked, and half-not so shocked.
“She kissed me on the spot which totally took me by surprise, and asked if I felt anything. I told her I didn’t because I really didn’t. She said if I was into girls then I would’ve felt something because she’s a great kisser and I’d be into her.” You couldn’t help but roll your eyes at that one. Maybe Bevin was a great kisser like she boasted but that wasn’t exactly how it worked. You would know.
“And you weren’t?”
“No,” she snapped. “I like Bevin well enough but no. The class ended and that was it. But then it got me thinking.”
“Ah. You thought you’d go to one of the girls rumored to be gay in this school and ask her to kiss you, you know just to make sure.”
“Well, not to put too fine a point on it but yeah.”
You snorted. “Well?”
“Well?”
“Did you feel anything?”
She looked uncertain for a moment so you figured the answer would be no. But then she surprisingly took a step closer to you, giving you a hint of a smile that was absent of her usual cockiness. “Yeah, actually.”
“So according to Bevin’s vast array of knowledge in these matters, you must be into girls then. Mazel Tov. I’ll see you around, Rachel.” You turned to leave, eager to put this whole thing behind you, when she gently grabbed your arm.
You sighed and turned back. “I did what you asked. I don’t get why—”
Rachel leaned in, kissing you again.
When she broke away, your brows drew together. “Uh…?”
“Did you feel anything?”
Hell yeah, you did. You felt that down to your toes. But you weren’t about to tell her that. “I, um… It’s really hard to tell. I might need further exploration on the subject.”
She let you go and gave you a look. “Really?”
“Yep. As a matter of fact, I’m going to go find another cheerleader and shove her into a bathroom to make out with her so I can find out. Great idea, Rach. Thanks. Later.” You went to leave when she grabbed you again.
Smiling at you, she pulled you closer. “Shut up.” She kissed you then and you couldn’t help but kiss her back.
Tumblr media
You glanced up when you heard the bell ring again, signaling you needed to get to your next class. You groaned and it wasn’t because Rachel’s lips were attached to your neck. You both were currently in a stall with her in your lap (because she refused to get her clothes dirty sitting on a gross toilet seat though she was slightly taller than you with the heels she was sporting, which made positioning awkward at times) and you literally had been making out now for most of the period.
“I need to get to my next class.”
“Skip it,” she breathed before kissing you again.
“I can’t skip it,” you panted. “I already missed one class while you’re having your gay awakening.”
She pulled back, scowling at you. “I’m not gay.”
You inclined your head at her sitting in your lap.
She shoved her hair behind her ear. “That doesn’t mean I’m gay. I’m just…trying new things.” She gave you a bright smile. “Besides, if I was gay, don’t you think I would have enjoyed kissing Bevin?”
“Yeah, that’s not how that works.”
“And you would know.”
“Says the girl who’s currently sitting on my lap and has been trying to convince me to meet her at her house later so she can get me into bed.”
She wrapped her arms around her neck. “Come on, it’ll be fun. Brooke won’t be there if that’s what you’re worried about. She has a date tonight. And I need to find out if those rumors are true.” She leaned in to place a kiss to the corner of your mouth.
“I hate those rumors,” you muttered.
“Why? They’re not true?”
“What do you think?”
She thought about it for a moment. “Good point. So is it or is it not true that you and Donna DiLorenzo went all the way in the eighth grade at summer camp?”
You couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Summer camp? How cliche.”
“So they’re not true then?”
You shook your head. “No. Donna and I were just friends. And I never went to summer camp.”
She shrugged. “Fair enough. But obviously, the other part of the rumor is true.” She smirked and ran a finger along your jaw.
“That I’m a raging lesbian who’s always on the prowl for girls? No. Sorry to disappoint but your friend Brooke made all of that up.”
She didn’t say anything to that. How could she? “But if you’re making out with me, then—”
“I like both guys and girls. That’s the real truth. Which goes without saying, is to be kept secret along with this whole little makeout session and what you told me earlier. It all goes into the vault, for life. Got it?”
She nodded, that cocky smirk making a reappearance. “So I really can’t convince you to come by tonight once Brooke leaves?”
You heard the bell again and you let out a huge groan. “That’s two classes now.”
“You have me on your lap, asking you to come to my house later so we can continue this, and you’re worried about class?” She actually seemed insulted.
“Yes. Because I don’t need the absences which will turn into zeros when they realize I’m cutting.”
Rachel studied you for a moment and flicked her hair back, holding onto you. “Well, since you don’t have to rush off now. Care to feel me up?”
You arched your brows in disbelief, silently asking if she was serious, to which she only smiled wider. “I hate you,” you muttered.
“You certainly have a weird way of showing that.” She ground into you and interlocked her fingers at the back of your neck, grinning. “Come on. You know you want to. They’re a hell of a lot bigger than Donna DiLorenzo’s,” she teased.
“Like I said, I hate you, and I wouldn’t know.”
“You’ve had your hands on my ass for the last half hour. While I’m flattered, don’t you want to feel what my other attributes feel like?”
“You mean holding onto your ass to keep you from falling? You’re welcome.”
“Come on.” She reached down and began to lower the straps of her tank top, her jacket having been hung up on the back of the door long ago.
You stopped her. “If I agree to drop by your house later, can we stop this ridiculous conversation in its tracks?”
She shrugged, moving her straps back into place. “I wouldn’t call it ridiculous but sure. Brooke’s date is picking her up around 8:00. Why don’t you swing by around 8:30?”
Your jaw tightened. “If this turns out to be some elaborate prank with cameras and people popping out and Brooke, I swear, I will go nuclear on your secrets. The vault won’t be able to withstand the heat of that explosion.”
“You are so incredibly paranoid but got it, loud and clear. For the record, I wasn’t inviting you over as a prank. I’m not Brooke,” she finished in a whisper. She then cleared her throat. “As it turns out, I am inviting you over to watch a movie.”
“Awww. You’re going to show me your Girls Gone Wild collection? How sweet.”
She swatted your shoulder. “Shut up. I’m talking about that movie The Grudge. Have you seen it?”
You shook your head. “Didn’t really want to if I’m honest.”
Her smile grew. “Perfect.” She leaned in and kissed you, chuckling into your mouth when she moved your hands from her ass to her breasts.
You squeezed them for good measure and muttered to her lips, “There. Very nice. Happy now?”
“Not yet.” She launched herself at you, kissing you deeply. You barely heard someone knocking on the bathroom door for the fourth time since this whole thing started, and you had stopped counting the seconds in your head long ago. Rachel Gatina was making out with you and she was inviting you over to her house later to “watch a movie”. There was no way in hell you were passing that up or paying attention to anything else (even if you had been dying to see The Grudge since you missed it while it was in theaters). You had missed two classes for Rachel’s experiment, after all.
That made you pull back for a moment. “I can’t miss another class, though.”
She nodded, panting. “You agreed to come over later so, yeah. I got it. But you still have forty five minutes.” She gave you that wicked smirk again before moving back in.
You moved your hands back to her ass and she moaned into your mouth though you could feel the smirk against your lips right before. You didn’t know Bevin Prince very well but damn if you weren’t going to send her some kind of gift basket as a thank you.

Title: You Found Me
Second Chapter
Warnings: Smut. Lots and lots of smut. Sex gifs. Cussing.

Tumblr media
I woke up to the sound of my alarm, set every morning for 7 am. I really need to turn that thing off, I don’t have to work my shit job anymore.
“Sweetheart, what’s - what’s goin’ on?” Dean rubs his eyes and looks at me, squinting from just waking up. He has the most confused, adorable look on his face and it makes me look at him and giggle. “You’re so cute, Dean.”
The sight in front of me was so gorgeous. I’ve been wanting this for a long time. You have no idea how much I have missed the man in front of me.
“Yeah, I missed you too.” He looks up at me with a guilty gaze. “I didn’t want to leave you.” He looks down at the part of the bed I was sleeping in.
Noticing the look on his face, I sit down in the spot he’s laying in and I tilt his jaw gently to face me. “You did what you had to. You’re here now and that’s what matters.” I kiss him slowly, my hands cupping his jaw.
“No, I mean I had no choice. I wouldn’t leave you, ever.” He had a look on his face, anger mixed with pain. “I- I just didn’t have a choice.”
“Tell me what happened.” I know he wouldn’t just leave, and I’ve been thinking about that since he picked me up from that dumb ass job. “I know you didn’t want to leave, so what made you?” This isn’t anger, it’s worry.
“I can’t talk about that right now.” His face was stern.
I leaned into him. I kissed him, then I whispered in his ear. “When you can, I’ll be here. I’m here now.”
Dean backed away to look at me. “Damn right you are.”
The look on his face was intense. His eyes were so green. His eyes always did that whenever he wanted to have sex with me. He didn’t take his eyes off me, he knew that I knew what he wanted.
“Dean, it’s been a while since I’ve done it.” I felt so stupid saying this to him. It made me feel so pathetic saying it out loud.
“How long, sweetheart?”
“Since, the night before you left. The sex we had that night. I haven’t done it with anyone else.” My cheeks were so red, I knew they were. I had to look like an idiot standing in front of him saying all this.
“What? Since, that was -“
“A long time ago, I know.” I finished his sentence.
“Sweetheart, that’s, that’s amazing.” He had a look on his face I’ve never seen before. He leaned in and kissed me gently, ending the kiss by biting my bottom lip. “You’re amazing.”
“Dean, I love you.” I couldn’t help it, it flew out of my mouth. I meant every word of it, but I know how he is with this kind of thing so I’ve never told him until now. It feels good and scary all at the same time, telling him.
“I know you do, sweetheart.” He kissed me again.
Tumblr media
Dean crawls on top of me, I can feel his boner against my body. I couldn’t help but moan when I felt him on me like that. He whispers in my ear, “baby, I love it when you moan for me.” He grinds against my leg. “I wanna feel you.”
“Dean, please.” I begged him. I couldn’t help it.
Dean moved his hips at the sound of my voice, letting me feel how hard he is.
“Please, please Dean, I need it.” Dean smirked down at me. You want more, baby?” His voice is like honey.
“Yes, Dean please. Please fuck me. I need it so b -“ and the door slammed open. It was Sam.
I heard a low “fuck” in my right ear.
“Uh, damn - Wait, is that -?” Sam was so surprised.
“Hey, Sam.” Fuck. I did miss him too, but fuck. He always did have horrible timing.
“I’ll go, sorry -“ I can’t kick him out of his own room.
“You’re okay.” Dean gave me a stare that would kill me if it could. I bit my lip looking down at his red chest, sitting in my own wet.
“O -okay.” He looked so embarrassed.
“Sorry, Sammy.” Dean sounded so pissed.
“I’m sorry.” I whisper into Dean’s ear.
Sam walks into the bathroom to get ready for bed. I immediately get on top of Dean. I slide myself onto his hard and throbbing cock. His hands are on my hips, grabbing me hard, looking into my eyes like I cooked him a whole ass meal.
“Damn, your pussy is so tight. You feel so good.” His voice was shaky and on edge. I knew he was about to cum, so I slowed down and I rolled my hips, grabbing my boobs in front of him. “Dean, I’ve been needing this.”
I feel his nails dig into my sides. “Fuck, I missed this.”
I bite my lip when he says that. Something about him cussing during sex, it’s so hot. I roll my nipples between my fingers, moaning Dean’s name so loud I know Sam heard me, but I didn’t give a fuck.
“I’m about to cum.” I could feel it. I leaned down and I sucked on his neck. Whenever I knew he was about to explode in me, I leaned up so I could look at him. He squeezed my ass as I rolled my hips.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Fuck, fuck” he is so so close. I am, too. But I always like to wait and cum with him. I can feel his skin on my clit, getting me closer and closer. I feel the grip on my ass tighten as hot juices fill me. “Dean, don’t stop I’m coming - DEAN!” I scream his name as I clench around him. My hips are rolling, and I slow down, my body almost twitching as I finish on him.
“That, that was beautiful.” Deans voice was breathy, his chest and neck covered in sweat. “You are beautiful.”

one
jared was certain, absolutely sure, completely convinced that alex, your boyfriend, popped the question. he was like, ten million percent sure. although he wasn't equipped with "evidence" per se, he started to pick up what he thought were tell-tale signs that gave him the impression that alex had put a ring on it.
the "veteran" supernatural actor was so sure of himself that, he told jensen and rob. telling them both that the proposal must have happened over the public holiday. the public holiday that, obviously, everyone but actors in vancouver had off.
"...just look at them, jensen! i swear to god, alex has proposed," jared almost squeals, watching the way you two were all over each other
"come on now, dude. you could be overreacting--"
"--in fairness, look at her left hand, she's clearly covering it. it has to be a ring," rob inserts, causing a slight scare for jared and jensen, worrying that you and alex could have overheard
"and how would you know, rob?" jensen sassed, jared's eyes widening as rob chuckled
"isn't it obvious, jensen? her left hand is hidden because she wants to tell us rather than us finding it out beforehand," rob touches his nose which makes jared and jensen giggle
however, it wasn't until gen, jared's wife, walked past that shut down the rumours of a potential supernatural wedding on its way
"you guys are crazy. the reason why she's hiding her left hand is because, if you guys really paid attention, you would know she has always rested her right hand over her left one. she isn't engaged and alex hasn't proposed to her. y'all are crazy sometimes i swear," gen chuckled, shaking her head which made jared and jensen down in the dumbs whereas rob just chuckled
it wasn't until after you and alex finished what it was you were doing that you realised that the entire time, jared, jensen, rob and gen had all been bickering. bickering about what they thought was your proposal that they had completely missed because it was done in secret.
in which, to clarify, did not happen. gen was right, the "tell" of you being engaged because you were hiding your left hand was false. you have always hidden your left hand by covering it with your right hand if you leave it resting on a table.
two
it was a wednesday, middle of the week and the cast of supernatural were all getting ready to finish up their work day. pleading for at least a full three-day weekend of rest. although alex was normally always flustered, this wednesday, he looked even more flustered then usual. it felt like he was running around like a headless chicken looking for something.
"you good, alcal? whatchu looking for?" jensen questioned, his head poking out from a wall as he was leaving the bunker set
"uh, yeah, i...um...i'm taking y.n for a weekend trip and i printed off our booking for it but, i can't seem to find it," he mutters as he continues to look for it
"ooh, that's exciting. where to, any particular reason why?" jensen teases as he moves to lean against the wall
stopping his search for a second, alex sighed in agitation, "down by the mountains cause i know she's always wanted to go there for ages. i booked a loft, i printed the booking info like moments ago and now i can't find it!" he was getting angrier and for once, jensen didn't want to instigate him
jensen smiles, noticing it was at a completely different printer, "this booking info?" he says as he picks it up and hands it to the younger actor who breathes a sigh of relief
"thank you so much, jensen! i l...you are my favourite person in the world right now other than y.n!" alex feels himself calm down which is when, of course, jensen instigates him with hints of a marriage proposal
"sooo, with the holiday getaway this weekend, what's it for...you know, anything special other than just because y.n's never been before?" jensen teased as alex turned back around and gave jensen what would be classified as a "stank face"
"umm, no...no...we're going because y.n's genuinely never gone to the mountains and i thought, we have the time and the money so, we're going for the weekend...why are you asking?" alex gave a look of confusion as jensen just nodded his head in embarrassment
jensen started backing away when alex ran after him, the booking for the holiday in his hands, "why are you asking, jensen? stop running away!" thankfully, jensen hadn't run too far as he laughed slightly
"umm, i just thought you guys were gonna come back with a special announcement but, don't worry, it's clearly not that and i apologise for jumping to a conclusion that is obviously not happening. have a great vacation you two. make sure you send us some photos after knowing that you won't be texting or calling us at all," jensen chuckled as that seemed to satisfy alex and he smiled back, nodding
"will do, jensen. the photos will be sent from y.n's phone not mine. have a good weekend yourself, don't do anything i wouldn't do," alex smiled, his bag across his shoulder as jensen smiled back
"i will, thanks. see you monday, hopefully tuesday but, we shouldn't be too sure because, as we know from past situations, our crew don't typically like to take vacations!" jensen chuckled as alex nodded his head before leaving whilst jensen didn't
and that was because, hidden away behind the wall where jensen was leaning against, was jared and rob, all waiting to see if jensen got the information about the "proposal".
"and, jensen? what did he say? will there be a ring on y.n's finger when they come back?" jared tried, a look of hope in his eyes as jensen just shook his head, rob chuckling
"nope, sorry buddy. just a vacation in the mountains because y.n's never been. and, before you ask, yes, i did subtly ask but, no, there will be no ring on her finger when they get back..." jensen trailed off as jared growled in annoyance as jensen and rob's eyes grew wide in shock
"...oh come on! i really thought it would be this time!" jared was truly devastated that his best friend wouldn't be getting proposed to as jensen and rob, again, giggled
"sorry buddy but, i think blondie's waiting for a specific day if he has even thought about it," rob shrugged as jensen nodded his head and left, leaving jared and jensen with one last thing
"and if he is, we shouldn't be pushing it or hounding him over it. he'll do it when they are both ready for it!" rob says whilst walking out of the office
jared and jensen share looks of, even though they hated it, they couldn't help but agree with rob's statement. if it hadn't happened this time and the time before, it's clear that it's not happening just yet. because, one, either alex and y.n haven't talked about it yet or, they simply aren't ready for it.
three
by the third time that jensen, jared and rob thought that alex proposed, gen, danneel and now rich was even watching, looking for any new tells. new tells that could possibly tell them if alex had proposed yet or not. and, obviously, because it's the supernatural cast, there is at least three different bets going on all at the same time. which makes no sense clearly but, to them it makes sense.
this time it was danneel that noticed something that could have been possibly a little off for alex. he had a little bag on his director's chair. whilst it wasn't out in plain sight, it wasn't being hidden either. so, danneel just decided to go for it and straight up ask him what it was.
"hey, alex, what's in the bag?" danneel questioned, a little giddy glint in her eye
alex smiled, making eye contact with danneel, "oh, um *shy chuckle* it's just an anniversary gift..." he trailed off nervously, hoping she wasn't close by
danneel felt her shoulders deflate. she knew she should have felt a little sad that it wasn't likely an engagement ring but, she still couldn't believe that it had so quickly got to their anniversary.
"what is it? some jewellery? what number anniversary is now, alex?" danneel no longer cared about the bet or the possibility of an engagement and wedding
she just cared that alex and y.n were still so head over heels in love with each other. even though she knew they'd never fall out of love with one another.
"oh, just a matching necklace and earrings set. we've been dating. for like, four years now. i remember overhearing from someone, it may have been gen or even jared that you never gift a partner a ring unless you plan to marry them. so, i decided to get her a matching emerald necklace and earrings because y.n's already got so many rings, not just her own but also ones that my mom has gifted her," alex smiled shyly as danneel's face lit up
"aw, that's so sweet. and happy four years, alex. four years is amazing. you and y.n should be so proud of that. and, good on you for deciding to not get a ring as i know so many people at the four year mark who would have gotten a ring and it turn out that they weren't ready to be married. you're really a smart man, alex. i'm sure y.n'll love the present," danneel smiled, ruffling his hair in pride for the young actor as alex chuckled, fixing his hair as danneel walked away
curious, of course, jensen and jared, gave her the look. and, danneel, with a sense of pride, shook her head no. again, jensen and jared were saddened but, when danneel, jensen's wife, explained, they felt a sense of pride wash over them. the same pride that washed over danneel that alex knew not to gift y.n a ring if it either wasn't a promise ring, engagement ring or a replacement ring for one that broke.
however, it was at this point, the third time that the cast thought that alex was going to propose that, he actually started planning it. obviously, it doesn't take long before rumours start to travel throughout the cast. so, it wasn't long before alex and even y.n began to hear of the rumours of the two young actors getting engaged. and, that was when the couple started to talk about it. because, like thought of as one of the reasons why it hasn't happened yet, alex and y.n just hadn't spoken about it. not because they didn't want to marry each other, they just hadn't spoken about it in proper detail. until now when they did start a conversation on it after a day of filming in the bunker set on their four-year-anniversary and they were each gifted four gifts each. and now, with the knowledge of his girlfriend's ring-size, he decided to ring up misha, because, like most people, alex would not have guessed that misha was in on all the rumours and the bets so, he asked him for advice.
let's just say that it was a struggle for the misha collins to keep a straight face when alex asked him if at some point during a free day of work that he could help him in finding an engagement ring for y.n. yet, misha managed to keep his cool and, obviously, didn't tell the rest of the cast who were in on the rumours and bets about it because, one, he didn't want to break alex's trust and two, whilst he did participate in cast rumours and bets, he would never rat out to the betters if he was on the other side.
four
it's a quiet and slow day when out of nowhere, like, complete nowhere. everyone, except for alex and y.n, rush into jared's trailer. worrying that something bad had happened like someone had been killed or arrested, it was confusing when they just all saw jared basically hyperventilating.
"...are you alright jared?" gen questions with worry, wondering why her husband was literally hyperventilating if no one had died or been arrested
"i...i think it's the day!" he struggles to say as the cast all look at each other in confusion
"what? you think it's the day? what day? it's a monday, jared, what could be so exciting about a monday?" danneel then questioned as jared bursted with another round of excitement which scared everyone
"but that's just it! i think it's happened! i really think alcal and y.n are engaged!" jared screeches with excitement as danneel shakes her head, jensen, gen, rob, rich and misha smile
"and why do you think that, dude?" jensen speaks up as jared squeals yet again
but, he doesn't say anything and misha's eyes widened, "what did you do, jared? what did you hack into?" he was worried that jared had somehow found out about the conversation he had with alex about him helping alex out with finding an engagement ring
"the hotel that they will be staying in for their belated four-year-anniversary..." jared backs up, trailing off of his sentence as no one notices the breath of relief that misha breathes out
"...wait, so you think he's gonna propose to her at a hotel, jared?" jensen questions in confusion
however, that was when you walked in and let's just say you were beyond confused.
"umm, who is going to propose to me where?" you blurted out as everyone's eyes widened
and no one spoke up. that was, until rob did and let's just say, he truly saved the day here, "oh, no one darling. we're just talking about the time i proposed to mollie in a hotel however many years ago it was..." he trailed off and everyone just hoped you believed it
and...you did. you didn't even question it and you should have cause you basically knew everything about all of your cast members. so, it confused the rest of the cast when you didn't question it.
"...oh, okay, cool, sorry, my bad. well, umm, if anyone's interested, alex has bought all of us some coffee so, we'll be waiting for you guys in the bunker set with it when y'all are ready!" you smiled as you left jared's trailer to alex who waited in the bunker set lot
as soon as everyone knew you were out of sight and out of hearing range, they all let out the heavy breaths that they had no idea they were holding on to.
"holy...lord jesus christ, how on earth did she believe that lie, rob?!" jared bursted out as giggles followed as did head shakes of shock and wide eyes
"i truly have no idea but, well done me i guess!" rob chuckled as everyone shortly followed after him as he left for his morning coffee that was waiting for him in the bunker set lot that for once, he didn't pay for
"yeah, well done you, rob! i seriously thought she wouldn't believe it but it shocked me more that she didn't question you," misha chuckled in bewilderment as rob patted his best friend's shoulder
afterwards, the cast realise that, whilst jared did "hack" into the hotel that you and alex were booked into for that night and the following weekend, that it wasn't because he was proposing to you. it was genuinely because you guys didn't get to celebrate your four-year-anniversary that was the third time that they thought a proposal was happening. so, instead, you guys were going to celebrate it on that friday and saturday instead.
five
it's this day, the fifth time that the cast thinks a proposal is gonna happen that it's misha that teases the group. sending the cast back at vancouver his location that he was in with alex.
"you guys will never guess where i am!" misha sniggers cheekily which earns some confusion from the cast who were basically bored out of the minds
with so much waiting around to do before filming, jensen almost groaned at his fellow cast member, "oh, i don't know, misha, are you by any chance, bullying a spoilt child?" he replies which earns a laugh from misha but also from the rest of the cast, including y.n, although it's obvious she wasn't paying attention
only laughing because everyone else was, misha knew it was the perfect time to tell the rest of the cast, "i'm at the jeweller with alex, and it's a fancy one," he smiles over the phone
"gold thanks, misha, silver makes me look discoloured," danneel jokes, shockingly not realising the situation after she started to pull away from the bets of wanting alex and y.n to get engaged
"good to know mrs ackles but, i'm here with alex because ages ago, when you guys thought for a third time that he was proposing to y.n he asked for help in my opinion on a certain piece he was looking to buy,"
that was when it clicks in danneel's but in everyone else's heads, jared slipping out of the chair, "wait, is this finally the day that it happens?" he just about whispers with his eyes wide and his hands already starting to perisperate
"i seriously think so guys. well, alcal's walking back over and i can tell that y.n's attention is turning back to you guys so, i'll talk to you all later," misha hangs up and focuses back on alex
seeing that misha was about to uncharacteristcally freak out, alex spoke up, "and, yes, it's the time to do it misha. it's why i asked you back those few weeks ago when everyone thought i was gonna do it for the third time i think *chuckles*..." alex trails off as misha's eyes nearly fall out of his socket
he nearly chokes on his own saliva, "wait, you weren't joking when you were asking me for advice on an engagement ring?" misha whispers, realising just how honoured he suddenly felt to be given this opportunity
"yes...i want you to help me and give me advice on an engagement ring for y.n. i was being serious that day when i came to you and asked. i know she loves emeralds because of the emerald necklace and earring set i gave her for our four-year but, i don't know if that's her style in rings too..." alex trailed off, suddenly feeling overwhelmed and stressed, grateful that he had misha with him
overcome with emotion and seeing alex overcome with emotion, misha had to fight himself to not give the young actor a huge hug. resisting however, misha takes in some deep breaths which causes alex to watch and copy so he could calm himself down as well.
"well, whilst y.n loves to wear emeralds on necklaces and earrings, do you know if she has any emerald rings? cause that's a start and if she does have emerald rings and wears them quite often, then, yes, that would be the choice of engagement ring you'd buy. but, if she usually wears a different stone more than the emerald then go for that one, alright?" misha advised as alex smiled and nodded his head, feeling more confident
as a smile overcomes his face, he pulls out his phone and goes straight to his photo album of you. majority of the photos you are wearing a specific ring with a specific stone. and whilst the stone wasn't an emerald, it was a green sapphire ring that you got given by your mother that you always wore on your ring finger. you would wear it until the day you would then change it for the real life green sapphire engagement ring you'd get when you'd eventually get proposed to.
looking at misha's pride-filled face of how, just like figuring out a specific scene, alex quickly figured out that the type of engagement ring you wanted. and how it was the exact same as the one you had been wearing ever since your mom had given it to you. except, whilst it would be similiar, it would be different because alex made sure that whilst the stone was sapphire, he still made sure that there was obvious engagement ring bling on the ring so it was obvious it was an engagement ring. and not just a replacement for the one you already had because, that sapphire ring hadn't broke, it was just being replaced for the real deal.
and, of course, alex didn't really need misha's opinion on the actual ring itself, he just needed the help in figuring out what stone and whether it was emerald or sapphire. so, when misha helped him in figuring it out by asking him if there was a specific stone that you wore more often then the other then, that was the stone of choice.
"misha...thank you for coming with me and helping me. i'm glad you were able to come with me," alex thanked his cast member, pure sincereity seeping from not just his words but his body language
and misha smiled, "my pleasure alex and, don't be thanking me, it was an honour to help you find the right one for y.n," misha replies, not stopping himself from hugging the actor this time. making the blonde sincerely chuckle, he welcomed the hug wonderfully
feeling pride and like a father to the actor (who everyone also said looked like misha), misha couldn't help the urge of a sudden flood of tears that had started to well up in his eyes as the two actors reached to the car
the one
"...hey guys, what are you all doing on the 30th of june?" alex asks, completely out of nowhere since it was another day of blocking
"that's like, nine months away, you really think i plan that far in advance, alex?" danneel questions, nevertheless checking her calender at the same time, her concentration from her paperwork fleeting for just a second
"to be fair, i was not expecting for that reaction," you smiled devishly, clearly hiding something, smiling at alex, "let's go once more and if they don't get this, i think i'm just gonna throw it at them. danneel, gen, briana, would you like to be apart of my bridesmaids?"
just when you thought you were going to have to throw the ring at them, a delayed and very loud gasp falls through the room as everyone turns to stone. it's briana that is the first one to regain her composure, "wait, what are you saying?"
with a joking roll of your eyes, you hold up your left hand and wriggle your fingers...oh and the new, upgraded sapphire engagement ring, "aren't you gonna ask where i got the new upgraded sapphire ring?" you pretty much cackle like an evil witch, surprisingly enjoying the reactions
misha then stands up, since he wasn't in his costume yet and pushed his chair away, "you actually did it?" he's soft in his question to alex
"i did it," the blonde nods, his smile wider than ever before
"you've broken the cast, alex," gen chuckles, looking all around her to see everyone still frozen in their tracks on their seats
however, not for long as briana, danneel and gen jump out of their seats and rush over to you, "why didn't you tell us the second you asked her, alex?! of course...of course i'm free that day and even if i'm not i'll make myself be free! and, excuse me, how dare you ask me to be your bridesmaid with the insinuation that i'd say no, I'D LOVE to be your bridesmaid!"
nearly toppling over you, briana smashes into you for a hug as you couldn't help the laugh that erupts from your throat. after briana's over the top reaction, the guys, jensen, jared, rich, rob and misha stood up out of their seats and also crowded around you and alex. of course then came all the congratulatory hugs and face squishes and wanting to take a closer look at the upgraded sapphire engagement ring.
and, obviously, the next day and then actually the next couple of weeks, briana and danneel and gen, everyone really, starts to bring in little cakes and muffins and things to keep the celebrations of the new supernatural family engagement up and continuing. because, now that the engagement had happened, that meant it was now time to plan the wedding. but, you and alex didn't care, you just loved that after waiting for so long, the cast that is, they finally got their moment to celebrate their two little supernatural babies be engaged because not only were you even more in love with your now fiancé but you just felt like you were being attacked with love at every angle and you loved it and you embraced it.
oh, and, remember that bet that was going around? yeah, it was actually misha that won all of them so, he got all of the money. shockingly, he managed to correctly predict the exact date of the proposal without even being given the date from alex. because, even though misha helped alex in figuring out the ring was a sapphire and not an emerald, that didn't mean he asked nor was given any other information about the day of the proposal. only that the ring was a sapphire so, it was pretty funny and a shock to the system that misha predicted the exact date without knowing it. and he didn't get the day before or the day after, he got the exact day on the dot. for a while, certain team members were a bit suspicious (jensen and jared) but a couple of days later and they just found it amusing and amazing that misha was such an amazing predicter and was then asked to predict the day that the bachelorette party was going to be on. but, that was obviously when misha drew the line as everyone was needed for costuming. because, tv unfortunately doesn't stop just because two actors get engaged.
---
this was so much fun to write and i have always wanted to do one of these but have always been too scared to but i'm glad i finally decided to just do it.
ok bye ily xx

I Know Your Wife (She Wouldn’t Mind) - Part Fifty-Nine
Summary: Austin is hit by a storm and you distract yourself with a Q&A with your followers. Your pregnancy is coming to an end as Jensen, Danneel, and the kids come to visit. Words: 2k + instagram stories Jared x Reader x Gen Warnings: pregnancy, mild angst
I Know Your Wife Masterpost
Tumblr media
When the storm hit, you had to work extra hard not to completely freak out.
You were supposed to be going to your 18 week scan, hopefully finally finding out whether you were having girls or boys seeing as they’d remained stubbornly in the wrong position throughout the 16 week checkup, but obviously you weren’t able to get there due to the road conditions.
A pipe burst in the house, flooding the floor of what was supposed to be the twins’ nursery and caving in some of the ceiling underneath, and both Jared and Gen insisted that you didn’t help with the cleanup so that you didn’t cause yourself any unnecessary stress at that time.
You had no power or internet connection, so you couldn’t stream, or even call your parents to check in, and it was absolutely freezing outside of the house so searching for connection elsewhere was out of the question. The only real positive of the situation was watching the kids and the dogs play in the snow once it was safe to go outside.
Almost as swiftly as the storm arrived and caused havoc, it was over. The sun came out, the snow melted away and, apart from the future nursery’s water damage, everything went back to normal.
When you eventually got back from your rearranged scan, you decided to hold a little Instagram stories Q&A as you’d been MIA during the whole storm.
You wanted to get back in touch with your followers, especially seeing as Gen was so active and, frankly, making you look bad.
Tumblr media
You posted the ‘Ask me anything’ to your story and were shocked at how fast questions started coming in. You found a show to watch in the background while everybody was out before properly settling in to answer some questions.

By the time you'd answered most of the more frequently asked questions, everyone else had returned from their walk.
Bailey was clearly exhausted, walking straight over to you in the living room and flopping down at your feet.
"Did they wear you out, baby?" you asked, scratching between her ears. "You'd always be home with me if you had the choice, huh?"
“She had fun,” Tom told you, coming to sit beside you.
You put your arm over his shoulders, pulling him closer to you.
“Did you?” you asked him.
“Yeah,” he confirmed, leaning against you. “Did you have a good afternoon?”
“I’ve been super lazy,” you admitted, earning a laugh from Genevieve as she walked in.
She leaned in to kiss the top of your head before sitting down on the other end of the couch.
“You’ve got babies to grow, you’re doing your best,” she reminded you.
“I’ve been watching Glee and posting on instagram,” you deadpanned, earning another laugh which made you crack into a smile.
Dallas came in at a run, giggling as Shep chased behind her, Jared following with an exasperated smile.
“Thanks,” you told him as he handed you a lemonade.
You took a sip, offering some to Tom before resting it down.
“No worries,” he told you, picking up the remote control as he sat down.
He stopped the box set and put on a movie that the kids would enjoy, the six of you settling in to watch in a comfortable silence.
*****
Everything continued as normal.
Your time was split between parenting, dog-walking, and streaming - your viewership still growing steadily. You were still in contact with the game production team, spending a few days in the studio to record your sound between scans and all of your other commitments.
By June 30th you were officially the most pregnant you had ever been, and you could absolutely feel it. Your date schedule had stayed in place up until you hit 35 weeks in your pregnancy, your body too tired for any other activities while carrying two healthy babies.
Getting out of bed was a struggle, your belly was so heavy and stretched tight. Your back and boobs had been aching for what felt like months now, and by this point you realised you couldn’t focus on anything for an extended period of time. You sent out a tweet to your followers, joking about going on maternity leave as you couldn’t sit and stream for hours on end anymore.
All of your scans had been positive, and you’d been talking about names for the past couple of weeks. After Dallas came early, you tried to get that conversation going earlier on than in your last pregnancy, which was reassuring as you entered the last few weeks as you felt like you could bond with your babies a bit easier, using the names you’d shortlisted.
You were sat in the nursery which had been complete a few months now, in the same rocking chair that you had in Dallas’ nursery in Vancouver, while you called your parents for your regularly scheduled catch up.
“I’d stand up and show off the bump but honestly I’d rather die,” you jibed, and Danneel laughed while Jensen rolled his eyes,
“I remember that feeling,” Danneel sympathised.
“We’ll be down in a couple days anyway,” Jensen reminded you, and you smiled.
“I can’t believe you’ve nearly been my parents for four years,” you mused, knowing they were coming down to celebrate your adoption anniversary.
“I’ve been your dad for nearly five if we’re honest,” Jensen commented.
“I meant officially,” you laughed, “but you’re right. I can’t wait to see you guys, it’s been too long.”
“I kinda thought the twins would be born by the time we got down,” Danneel admitted. “I was hoping I’d get snuggles.”
You matched her wistful smile.
“We’ll be down for a week,” your father reminded both of you. “A lot can happen in a week.”
“That’s true,” you agreed. “When I found out I was pregnant, I was hoping to go full 40 this time, but now we’re over 37 weeks and I’m just about ready to actually burst.”
You sighed, running a hand over your bump.
“Not to sound uncharacteristically optimistic, but I think I’m ready for them to come now.”
“I for one would not complain if I got to have grandpa cuddles on our trip down,” Jensen chimed in. “And I’m sure JJ and our twins would be pumped to meet them.”
“We’ll see,” you smiled. “If they’re as stubborn and contrary as me, they’ll probably stay in for weeks now that I’ve admitted I’m ready.”
They smiled fondly, and you bit your lip as you considered your next words.
“I know it’s late, but-”
“She’s still up,” Danneel told you before you could even finish your thought. “We put her to bed but made the error of telling her we were about to call you.”
“I’ll get her,” Jensen told you, getting to his feet to go and retrieve your sister.
“She asks about you every day, you know?” Danneel told you. “Always asking about Dallas and the babies, too.”
Your heart fluttered at her words.
“It’s been so weird doing it all without you guys around,” you admitted. “Jared and Gen have been great, it’s just so different from last time.”
She smiled sadly.
“Two days, sweetie,” she reminded you. “We’ll all be reunited again. You can show off the cute new nursery in person.”
You nodded, grinning as you heard Jensen and JJ coming down the stairs.
“I can’t wait.”
*****
“Are you sure you’re good to drive?” Gen asked as you grabbed your keys on Friday afternoon.
“I’m good,” you promised, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek as Jared picked up his keys as well. “There’s five of them to pick up, plus their luggage. Two cars makes sense.”
“I don’t think she’ll spend another second sat here when she knows they’re in the city,” Jared reasoned, bending down to help Dallas into her shoes. “Neither of them will.”
“We’re seein’ Grandpa,” Dallas told him proudly, getting to her feet and taking your hand.
“Yeah we are,” you smiled, looking back at an unconvinced Genevieve. “Babe, I’m fine. If my water breaks I’ll already be in the car anyway, easier to get to the hospital.”
Her mouth dropped open in shock and Jared ushered you and your daughter out of the door before she could stop you.
“She’s kidding,” he told his wife, wrapping his arms around her as you and Dallas got into your car. “We’ll be fine. Just picking them up from the airport, we’ll be right back.”
“Make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid,” Gen murmured, pulling him down for a kiss. “No lifting things.”
“She can barely put her clothes on herself, she’s not lifting anything,” he promised, pulling back and stepping outside. “We’ll see you soon.”
*****
You rubbed at the small of your back as you waited at the arrivals gate, Jared with Dallas on his shoulders as you scanned the crowd for your parents and siblings.
“Do you want to go and sit?” Jared asked, looking down at you in concern.
You shook your head, breathing carefully as you stretched your back out.
“I can sit when we get home,” you reminded him. “I’ve missed them, can’t wait another second longer than I need to.”
He huffed a small laugh, and you looked up at him, wrapping an arm around his waist.
“I appreciate you doing this,” you told him, quiet enough that your daughter wouldn’t hear. “After everything with The Winchesters-”
“They’re your parents,” he replied, meeting your gaze. “It hurt but I can’t hold a grudge, not when they’re such a big part of your life, of our daughter’s life.”
You pressed a kiss to his shoulder, grateful that he was able to consider it water under the bridge for the benefit of you and Dallas. It had come as a surprise to both of you when Jensen had made the post earlier that week, and Jared had taken it considerably harder than you had, but knowing how important your relationship with your parents was to you, he’d been able to push it to the side.
“Grandpa!”
Dallas’ shout and light tug on Jared’s hair grabbed both of your attention, and you looked over to see your family making their way through the crowd.
Dallas scrambled to get down and Jared laughed as he helped her, putting her down in front of him but holding her shoulders so she didn’t run off until they got closer.
Jensen broke out into a little jog and Jared let her run to him, both of you watching with fond smiles as he picked your daughter up under her arms and span her around.
“Surprised you’re not running too,” Jared joked, and you looked down at your bump.
“I would be if these guys weren’t in the way,” you grumbled, grinning as JJ came running up to you.
“Don’t pick me up,” she reminded you as she wrapped her arms around you, and you laughed as you held her against you.
“You’re getting too big anyway,” you told her, smiling at Danneel as she finally reached you with the twins and bags in tow.
“I thought you were joking when you said you’re ready to burst,” she told you, letting the twins run to you as she hugged Jared. “Good to see you.”
Jared smiled as he hugged back before crouching to greet the kids as Jensen came over with Dallas on his hip.
“Nonna,” Dallas giggled, reaching for Danneel.
“Hey baby girl,” she smiled, taking her from her husband so he could give you a hug.
You hugged him tight - well, as tight as you could with two babies in the way.
“Let’s get you home, we can catch up there,” he told you, picking up his bags.
Jared grabbed Danneel’s bag and you and Danneel took two kids each as you made your way back out to the cars.
“I’ve missed you,” JJ admitted, squeezing your hand.
You squeezed back before letting go to find your keys in your pocket.
“It’s been too long,” you agreed, unlocking your car and helping Zep into his car seat. “I hope we never have to leave it this long again.”

-- 2017 --
Filming is tiring and we finally hit a free weekend. No conventions, no shooting, and Jared, Jensen, and Misha decided to stay in Vancouver. We were in Jensen's apartment. Feeling nice and tingly when Jared suggested a drinking game, two truths, and a lie.
"So," Jared started, about 5 shots into our little drinking game "y/n, truth or dare?"
"That's not even the game we're playing!" Misha says, his third shot in his hand.
"Shhhhhhh." Jensen whispered, too far gone for discretion or grace, "Let it happen,"
Your head is pounding already, "Fine, I choose truth." You said, preparing yourself to take another shot.
"Out of the three of us here, who would you rather knot?" Jared asked, a smirk forming on his face.
You couldn't think straight. You realized too late that it'd have been better to just take the shot instead of answering. "Jensen, he smells the best."
Both Misha and Jared started wooing and cheering. Jensen took another sip of his beer while blushing.
"But why not me?" Jared asked, throwing you his puppy dog eyes.
"Because you're annoying," Misha answered before me.
"And you stink!" I added before taking another shot.
The entire night was a haze the next morning. Everyone was hungover and wanted to go back to bed. But Jensen remembered what you said about knotting him and he pondered what you meant by that for years.
-- 2023, The Boys season 2 set--
"You're close to your rut," Jensen says as he walks up behind you.
"How would you know, tracking it?" You asked sarcastically, grabbing a plate and a mini powdered doughnut.
"I talked to Misha, you've been irritable the whole day." Jensen follows suit and grabs a powdered doughnut.
"And why are you talking to Misha about my rut?" you asked between bites.
"Because he lives with you and because I know about your… arrangement." Jensen says as he takes his first bite.
"Cryptic. Now if you’re done here we have a fight scene to shoot." You dismiss the conversation, and walk away, leaving Jensen with his unfinished doughnut.
After filming for the day, Jensen comes up to you at your apartment.
"When I opened the door I thought you'd have more clothes on." You say as Jensen greeted you, only wearing his Soldier Boy robe.
"May I?" Jensen asks motioning to enter.
"Why not," You shrug, opening the door a little more to allow Jensen to walk in before closing it. Looking at him you wonder what he's here for.
"You need someone to help you with your rut. You’re too old to go through a rut yourself." Jensen says with the utmost sincerity. There it is.
"Old?! I'm four years younger than you! And what do you know about alphas and ruts? I've gone almost my whole life dealing with my rut myself," You cross your arms like a defiant five-year-old.
"I know that every time you’ve dealt with it alone you've come out the other end looking worse than shit." Jensen pinched the bridge of his nose, "I know it’s harder for you to deal with it yourself, so let me help you." Jensen grabbed your hand and squeezed it, "I talked to Danneel and Misha, they both agreed to let me help you. Don't be stubborn, please." Jensen kissed your knuckles and then stared into your eyes waiting for an answer.
"You have no idea what you’re getting yourself into." You caress his cheek with your other hand, "It's not a pleasant experience. I won't be me. I'm animalistic, borderline violent, during my rut…" You turn away, looking anywhere but his eyes.
"I'll be fine," As Jensen pulls you in for a hug, you take a deep inhale. He smells like firewood, vanilla, and sea water.
"Are you- did you- you couldn't have…" You press your bodies closer so you can smell it better, "You're wearing Omega perfume!"
"Since I came here." Jensen chuckles and starts petting your hair as you nuzzle into the crook of his neck, "My little alpha,"
You back Jensen against the wall suddenly. "Careful Jen, you shouldn't say that unless you mean it." Your eyes were completely red, the rut hit you like a freight train after smelling the omega perfume. "It's dangerous."
"I like dangerous… Alpha."
You swiftly strip off Jensen's robe as well as your t-shirt before crashing your lips together. He tastes like mint and vanilla. Jensen quickly undoes your belt and pulls down your jeans before you flip him against the wall. You start kissing down Jensen's back painfully slow. Taking your time to kiss his shoulder blades, and his lats. God was he beautiful, and built like a brick shit house to boot. You made sure to run your tongue down his spine before reaching his magnificent ass. You took your time massaging each cheek before spreading them apart to get to your prize.
You licked his ass hole and he moaned like a wanton whore. It was primal and guttural like he'd been waiting for this. You let your hands squeeze his hips as you licked him again, and again, and again, until he started begging you to do more. You had the tip of your tongue pressed against his ass hole but not penetrating.
"Fuck me!" He sounded gruff and demanding.
You slowly pushed your tongue into his warm hole, circling as much area as you could. Jensen pushed his ass back into your face, wanting you to go deeper, explore more. Your tongue kept the same rhythm, in and out, in and out, getting him all nice and wet. When you pulled your tongue away, he started whimpering before you pushed a finger into him.
"God, want more, need more"
His hips started moving when you added a second finger. Spreading his ass open with both fingers, getting him prepped to take you. When you added a third finger his head rolled back and you felt his ass flutter around your fingers. He was ready.
You removed your fingers and got up from your knees. You flipped Jensen around so he was facing you. You grabbed the back of his thighs to lift him up and push his back against the concrete wall. Pinned between you and the wall, Jensen's ass was hovering over your dick.
"We can stop right now. We can forget this ever happened and go back to our normal lives." You whispered into his neck, still nuzzling where he put the perfume on.
"Alpha," That was all Jensen needed to say before you lowered him onto your dick. Jensen took a deep inhale once you were completely sheathed. "I never knew it would feel this good," Jensen panted. You growled and rested your forehead against his, giving both of you some time to adjust.
You kissed Jensen on the lips, then his cheek, then his neck, and then back up to his lips before you started thrusting. His ass felt like heaven and quenched the burning feeling in your body. Pulling out until only the tip was in before slowly thrusting back in. You kept that pace until Jensen wanted more.
"Faster, harder, I need more alpha!" God, that did something to you. You picked up the pace and you could feel your knot start to swell. Jensen was bouncing against the wall and you could feel his pre-cum leaking on your stomach. Both of your bodies burning hot and looking for release. "Right there, oh god, right there," Jensen moaned into your ear, and scratched down your back.
The pace was brutal and he was taking it beautifully. My Omega, my Omega, beautiful Omega, Omega, Omega, Omega. You bared your teeth against his neck.
"Alpha!" Jensen came and you could feel his cum against your chest. Jensen laid his head back against the wall, neck all exposed and sweaty as he was coming down from his high.
You barely refrained from claiming him as your knot popped and you came in him. Both of you coming down from your highs, you took him to your room and laid him onto your bed. Jensen closed his eyes as soon as his head hit the pillow. Both of you were exhausted and out of breath.
"Good night Jen," You kissed his forehead, "Thank you for this,"
" 's was amazing," Jensen grumbled back, cuddling into you, "love you."
"I love you too, now to to bed."

Comic-con was always one of Y/N’s favorite events. The panels, the cosplay, the atmosphere of the fans - it was all pretty great. As press, it was always difficult to get some time off during the weekend to catch the things she wanted to, but if there was ever a spare moment, she loved walking the convention floor and taking in the excitement of the crowds, checking out the fan art and taking photos of some of the cool cosplays people had put so much effort into.
She had managed a couple of hours that weekend, but it was right back to business as usual, which was a lot of fun, too. She always got to interview the people she had admired, but considering her most favorite show of all time had now produced a spin-off, that was what she was most looking forward to talking about. She had interviewed Jensen several times over the years for Supernatural, and they had developed a great friendship because of it, so she couldn’t wait to catch up with him and his lovely other half.
“Y/N!”
She lifted her head up from the cards she was reading over, editing some of the questions with the pen between her fingers. She heard his husky, deep voice over the buzz of her co-workers as they prepped for the interview, smiling as he came towards her.
“Hey,” she beamed as she stood up from her chair, hugging him. She had a brief moment of confusion as it lasted a little longer than usual, but she didn’t dwell on it as they pulled away from each other. “It’s a been a while, huh?”
“Well, not long enough, clearly,” he joked, shrugging his shoulders.
“True,” she stated, with a slight chuckle.
“Oh, honey,” he turned around, taking the hand of a beautiful redhead as both of them faced her. “This is Y/N, she did a lot of press for Supernatural. Y/N, this is Danneel.”
Offering her hand, she smiled softly when Danneel leaned in and hugged her instead. “It’s wonderful to finally meet you.”
“You too,” Danneel said, pulling away after a moment. “Jensen’s always said doing interviews with you has never felt like work, so I’m glad we’re coming around to you first.”
“Yeah, but I’m still gonna grill you both for as many non-spoilery spoilers as possible,” Y/N jested, wiggling her eyebrows.
Jensen chuckled, waving his finger at her as he sat down on the chair across from her. “I’d expect nothing less from you.”
Y/N giggled as she adjusted the mic on her top, watching as Jensen and Danneel did the same for each other, sharing a quick kiss. She smiled to herself as she looked away, flipping back to the first card before she glanced back at them.
“Shall we?” she asked.
“Ready when you are,” Danneel replied, a small smirk on her face as she flipped her hair back lightly.
Y/N felt her cheeks heat up as their eyes met, a lingering look passing between them. She wasn’t sure what she was feeling as the camera started to record, but she had to push it down.
She had a job to do and couldn’t get distracted by them.
That’s what she kept reminding herself of every time her eyes would meet Jensen’s or Danneel’s as they discussed the new show, but she really couldn’t help herself. They were beautiful, and she suddenly found herself thinking things she really shouldn’t in the middle of an interview. Her mind wandered off briefly as her gaze fell on Jensen’s lips, imagining what they’d feel like on every part of her, before her thoughts transitioned to the way his wife’s would feel as well. She shook her head as she prepped herself to ask the rest of her questions, chastising herself for her unprofessional thoughts.
The interview had gone really well. The rapport between the three of them had been great, and Y/N had wished them all the success for the rest of the season. As they said goodbyes at the end before they headed off to the next string of interviews, Jensen and Danneel  invited her to the small event that the studio was having for them later that evening. She was about to decline the offer, but with the looks that had been passing between them, she found herself saying yes without missing a beat.
And that was exactly where she found herself later, a cocktail in hand, as they laughed about memories from past conventions and talked about how life was treating them lately. They sat in the curved booth, Danneel’s  knees brushing against hers because of the lack of space.
“Thanks for today,” Jensen stated, smiling softly. “I’m always a little nervous before we start, but having you first definitely put me at ease.”
“I’m glad,” Y/N muttered, taking a small sip of her drink. “It was really great for me to have you guys first as well. I just… I’m really happy for all of you.”
“You know, any time you wanna come down to New Orleans and do some press there, we’d love to have you,” Danneel said, leaning her forearms on the table, making the gap between them smaller.
“Oh, that would be amazing!” Y/N exclaimed, grinning. “Ah, I’d go through the proper channels with my boss first-”
“Of course,” Danneel interjected, placing her hand on Y/N’s shoulder. “Do what you need, and then let us know. Especially if it’s some time next week, we’ve got some cool stuff coming up.”
“I’ll definitely talk to him soon,” Y/N stated, making a note on her phone to call her boss the next morning as soon as she woke up.
“Great,” the redhead smiled, her hand gently skimming down Y/N’s arm and curling over her hand. “It’s gonna be a lot of fun.”
Y/N sighed softly as she felt the beautiful woman in front of her graze her foot against hers under the table. Her thumb lightly brushed over Y/N’s knuckles, causing her breath to hitch as their eyes met. She had occasionally had the thought of what it would be like to be with other women, but had never acted on it. She certainly wasn’t going to now considering it would be highly unprofessional, but the sudden, familiar warmth that settled low in her core and the glint in Danneel’s eye were making things really difficult for her.
The attraction was undeniable, especially with everything she had been feeling all day, and she was pretty sure they felt it too, as their eyes met hers. She felt her cheeks warm up not for the first time that day, and she knew she was in trouble if she didn’t leave soon. But she made no move to stand up and walk out the door.
“Can we convince you for a night cap back at our hotel?” Jensen asked, his voice deep and husky as he turned to her, his eyebrows raised. “It’s more low profile than here.”
Y/N looked between the couple, her gaze locked with Danneel for a brief moment before she turned away, a mischievous smile pulling at her lips as she glanced at her husband. Y/N knew what he was suggesting, and was very glad he was the one who brought it up.
“Well…” she started, leaning over the table and closer to them, dropping her voice down into a sensual whisper. “I think your room would be much more private.”
Danneel let out a low hum as she bit her lip, shifting closer to Y/N. They pressed their foreheads together as they looked into each other’s eyes, the wicked smirks on their faces almost identical. It was a brief moment, knowing that they’d rather not been seen, all three of them standing up as Jensen told them to wait outside while the valet brought the car around and he said their goodbyes for them.
Things had progressed faster than Y/N could process, but she still found herself squeezing her thighs together as they waited outside in anticipation for what was going to happen.
Tumblr media
Jensen unlocked the door to their hotel room, letting Y/N and Danneel in first, before he closed the door behind them. She strolled into the room, biting her lip as she took in the decor. Her stomach flipped as she felt Jensen’s hand slide down her back as he walked around to face her, lifting her chin up to look into his eyes. They had discreetly walked through the lobby and into the elevator, keeping distance between them, but now they were alone together and her heart was beating faster at the thought of what was going to happen.
“You okay?” he asked, his voice low but husky.
She gulped. “Yeah.”
“Good,” he whispered.
He leaned in and pressed his lips to hers in a searing kiss. She moaned against his mouth as her hands slid up his emerald green jacket, wrapping her arms around his neck as his hands rested on her hips. He groaned as the kiss deepened and he pulled her in closer, wanting to feel every inch of her against him.
“Fuck,” she gasped, as she pulled away from the kiss, their eyes locked. Her heart was beating rapidly in her chest as she saw how wide his pupils were already, and she found herself more aroused.
A shiver ran down Y/N’s spine as Danneel came up behind her, her chest pressed against Y/N’s back, her slender hand cupping Y/N’s face and turning it towards her. They closed the gap between them, kissing sensually as Y/N turned away from Jensen into her. Danneel had stripped herself of her clothes, left in her dark red bra and panties, before she joined them in the main room. Her lips were soft, causing Y/N to moan lightly as their hands clung to each other. They pulled away, gazing into each other’s eyes as Danneel smirked, reaching for the ties on the back of Y/N’s blouse. She pulled them open, allowing Y/N to lift the material over her head, throwing it behind her. The redhead flicked open the button of Y/N’s wide leg jeans, pushing them down and letting her kick them off, revealing her black bra and thong to them.
“So beautiful,” Danneel breathed, her eyes roaming down Y/N’s body before taking her hand as she walked back towards the bed.
Y/N’s lips pulled into a small smile as she glanced back at Jensen, seeing him taking off his clothes slowly, his eyes on them as they sat down on the bed. The women turned to each other and continued their embrace, their hands skimming over soft skin as they kissed, passionately. Danneel took charge, pushing Y/N back on the bed and moving on top of her, their bodies pressed together. Y/N moaned as she stared up at the ceiling, feeling the redhead’s lips against her neck, nipping at her flesh. Y/N arched her back and unclasped her bra, throwing it somewhere in the room. She whimpered as she felt Danneel’s lips move down her chest, closing over her left nipple, her tongue flicking over it in circles.
“Danneel, fuck…” She threw her head back, her fingers combing into the fiery red hair as the woman drifted down, pressing a trail kisses to her skin. Y/N turned her head to see Jensen join them on the bed, biting her lip as she saw all of him. They were a god and goddess personified, and Y/N couldn’t quite believe she got to be there with them.
“I-” she started but she cut herself off with a harsh gasp, feeling Danneel’s teeth softly bite the top of her thigh.
“Tell Dee what you want, darlin’,” Jensen husked as he cupped her face in his hand, stroking her cheek with his thumb.
“I-I want-” she stuttered, breathing deeply as she closed her eyes. Any coherent thoughts had fallen out of her head, already overwhelmed by what was going to happen.
“Tell me, baby…” Danneel whispered, a wicked glint in her eye.
“I want to feel… feel your mouth on me,” she confessed, lifting her head to look down at the woman between her legs.
“You want me here?” the redhead asked, smirking.
Y/N hummed as slender fingers rubbed over the fabric of her panties, feeling how wet she was already. Danneel sat up for a brief moment, leaning over and capturing Jensen’s lips in a searing kiss before they pulled away, sharing a knowing smile.
“You want my cock, sweetheart?” Jensen asked, smirking as he looked down at Y/N. “Want to feel that gorgeous mouth around my dick…”
She reached out for him as Danneel slowly pulled the thin lace of her panties down her smooth legs, flinging them behind her. She moved back between Y/N’s thighs, instantly drifting down and licking a long stripe against her folds. Y/N tossed her head back against the sheets, a wanton moan falling from her lips as she wrapped her hand around Jensen’s cock, pumping back and forth in a slow pace. Danneel moved her skilled muscle over the bundle of nerves in small circles, feeling the woman underneath her getting more aroused.
“Fuck… oh god, I-” Y/N gasped, as her eyes opened, her hand stroking faster.
He groaned, moving closer to her as he pulled her hand away, guiding her face closer to him. Y/N wrapped her lips around his hard shaft, sinking down and taking him deep into her mouth, feeling him press against the back of her throat. She moaned at the feel of him, bobbing her head back and forth, licking the tip as she came up before taking him in again. His hand gripped her hair tight, a low grunt escaping him as he lightly thrusted into her mouth.
“Fuck,” he growled, his jaw clenching as he looked down at her, “your mouth feels so fucking good, darlin’, taking me in so deep.”
Y/N glanced up at him as she continued to suck, her eyes fluttering as she felt Danneel alternate her ministrations between her clit and her folds, teasing her entrance. She released Jensen’s cock with a harsh breath, air burning her lungs as she grinded down against the redhead’s face. She whimpered, far too overwhelmed by everything she was feeling already thanks to them.
“So fucking beautiful,” he muttered, smiling as he watched his wife pleasure the woman between them. “She taste good, honey?”
Danneel pulled back briefly, winking. “So good…”
Jensen tugged at her hand causing her to sit up on her knees, leaning closer to him. They kissed roughly, a groan leaving him as he tasted Y/N’s arousal on his wife’s tongue. Danneel pulled back from the kiss and shifted back between Y/N’s legs, continuing to pleasure her with her mouth. She could feel how close she was, her palms covering her breasts as rolled her nipples between her fingers, wanting to get to the edge.
“She feel good, Y/N?” Jensen asked, their eyes locked as she stared up at him. “You want her to make you cum on her tongue, don’t you?”
“Yeah,” she moaned, loudly.
He smirked, biting his lip as he moved down, kissing her sensually. “She’s gonna make you cum hard, and then… then I’m gonna fuck you, hard and fast, make you feel it for days.”
“Oh fuck!” she yelled, her voice bouncing off the walls.
Danneel worked her tongue faster over Y/N’s swollen nub, moving it down between her folds and up again. With a few more flicks of her talented muscle, Y/N threw her back as her eyes shut tight, a shrieking moan ripped from her throat. She clenched her hands in Danneel’s red strands as the woman lapped at everything she had to give, smiling softly as she sat back on her heels.
“Fuck, that was something,” Jensen husked, as he shifted closer to Danneel, pressing his lips to hers in a rough kiss.
He pulled away, looking down at Y/N as she held herself up on her elbows, her eyes flicking between them. He moved off the bed, standing at the edge as his hands pressed into the flesh of her hips, turning her onto her stomach, causing her squeal in surprise. She giggled as Danneel shifted across the bed to face Y/N, their eyes locked as they leaned into each other, kissing passionately. Y/N whimpered as Danneel’s hands slid down her body, tweaking the stiff buds and making her head even more foggy than it already was. Y/N ripped her mouth away, looking back as she felt him smack his cock against her folds, catching the smirk on his face.
“You want it, darlin’?” he asked, his green eyes darkened as he gazed down at her.
“Yeah…” she breathed, nodding slowly as she shifted onto her hands and knees, pressing back against him.
He clicked his tongue at her, as he pressed his hand into the globe of her ass. “You’re gonna have to beg for it, Y/N. Beg me to fuck you, to make you cum.”
She whined slightly, her frustration and need to feel him inside her getting to her. She looked deep into the eyes of the woman in front of her, leaning into her touch as she stroked her cheek. Danneel smiled softly, her thumbs brushing against the soft skin of Y/N’s face, pressing light kisses to her lips. Y/N felt like she was in a dream, like any moment now she’d wake up and be alone in her hotel room, her hand between her legs as she indulged in one of her fantasies, but this was real. It was happening, even if she couldn’t quite believe it.
“Be a good girl and Jensen’s gonna give you exactly what you need, baby,” she whispered, kissing Y/N’s forehead.
“P-Please… please, fuck me,” she begged, briefly gazing up at Danneel before she turned her head to look back at Jensen. “Fuck me hard, wanna feel that cock deep inside me.”
Jensen made eye contact with her before he looked at Danneel, receiving a firm nod from her as she bit her lip, smirking. His gaze dropped down to Y/N, as he ran his cock through her folds, teasing her. She closed her eyes as he pressed against her entrance, and in one quick motion, he was buried deep inside her, his cock completely sheathed by her walls. She moaned wantonly, her eyes snapping open as she felt him thrust in and out, slowly building a rhythm. He set a fast pace as he gripped her hips, a groan escaping him as he relished the way she felt around him.
“Fuck, oh god,” she whimpered, her eyes fluttering from the pleasure she was feeling. She hummed as Danneel held her close, their eyes meeting as she tried to focus.
“He feels good, doesn’t he?” she asked, a mischievous chuckle falling from her lips, cupping Y/N’s face in her hands. “Feels good being fucked deep and hard by that big cock, huh?”
Y/N’s only reply was a loud moan, almost muffled by the growl that escaped Jensen as he felt her walls contract around him, her arousal growing more with Danneel’s words.
“Dee, keep talking,” he ordered, smirking. “Fuck, she’s so wet and tight… so fucking perfect.”
Danneel smiled, looking deep into Y/N’s eyes. “Really? That’s so fucking hot, love seeing you getting fucked by my husband, taking his cock so well, Y/N. Can’t wait to see you cum so hard for him…”
“Fuck!” Y/N yelled, squeezing her eyes shut.
Jensen continued to pound into Y/N, his hips smacking against the curve of her ass, his sight slightly blurred as he gave into the euphoric bliss that he was feeling. He caught a glimpse of Danneel shifting down, spreading her legs in front of Y/N and guiding her face between them. She moaned as she threw her head back, feeling Y/N’s tongue lick a long stripe from her entrance to her clit, flicking over the swollen nub in tight circles. Y/N paid the redheaded woman the same attention she had to her, feeling a sense of pride as Danneel’s fingers combed into her hair, keeping her head in place.
“Fuck, just like that, Y/N,” Danneel cried out, looking down at her through hooded eyes. “Love feeling your mouth on me.”
She continued her ministrations, leaning onto her forearm to use her fingers on Danneel, thrusting them into her tight heat, matching the pace to the way Jensen was moving within her. She pulled her mouth away for a brief moment, resting her forehead on the inside of Danneel’s thigh as he slammed into her, her walls clenching tight around him as the familiar heat grew in her core.
“Fuck her harder, darlin’,” he groaned, gripping her hips tight in his hands as he watched them. “Want you both cum together…”
She worked her fingers faster, the tip of the digits pressing against the sweet spot inside that had Danneel’s walls contracting around them. Her tongue circled the bundle of nerves at the same time, wanting the redhead to get to the edge at the same time as her. Moans and whimpers filled the room as they both felt themselves getting closer to their release, as Jensen pounded deep into Y/N. With another few thrusts of his hips, Y/N dropped her head down as she screamed his name, feeling the coil within her snap, her wetness covering his shaft. She moved her fingers quickly, as she gazed up at Danneel, smirking as the woman underneath her threw her head back, a string of expletives escaping her as she came hard on Y/N’s fingers. As they reached the peak of pleasure together, Y/N’s orgasm triggered Jensen’s, a few shallow thrusts from him as his neck strained back, a strangled moan ripping  from his throat, his cock throbbing as spurts of his seed coated her walls.
Y/N breathed heavily as she rolled onto her back, sliding up next to Danneel as they both came down from the euphoric high. Y/N moaned softly as the beautiful woman turned into her, kissing her lips, sensually. She pulled her close, their mouths fused together in a passionate embrace, as Jensen moved behind Y/N, nipping at her neck. Danneel pulled away, combing her hand through Y/N’s hair as their eyes locked, both of them smiling at each other.
“That was definitely unexpected,” Y/N muttered with a small giggle.
“But it was fucking incredible,” Jensen stated, as he held himself up on his elbow, looking down at both of them.
Y/N nodded in agreement, pushing herself up to kiss him, once, twice before she laid back, sighing in content. Danneel glanced up at her husband, raising her eyebrows in a silent question that they both already knew. He winked at her, causing a wide grin to spread across her face as she met Y/N’s gaze again.
“So… can we expect you in New Orleans next week? Maybe have a repeat of tonight?” she asked, her hand stroking over Y/N’s arm gently.
She looked between both of them, biting her lip as she thought about the offer. When she arrived for the con, she never thought that this would be how the weekend came to a close, but she certainly wouldn’t change anything about it, especially what had just occurred. She didn’t think she’d ever do something like this, but now that she had, there was no way she could go back to living her life the way she used to.
With another kiss to the redhead’s lips, she looked up at Jensen and nodded, smiling softly as she pressed her forehead to his.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

The Celebrity Next Door: Chapter 8: Embracing Enough
Tumblr media
Pairings: Jensen Ackles x Reader
Chapter Summary: A day spent on the board walk brings a whirwind of emotions.
Warnings: Panic attacks, fluff, panicking, insecurities.
Series Masterlist here!! & Main masterlist here!
Tumblr media
Time flies when you're having fun, or so they say.
I used to doubt it; fun didn't always make time race by for me. But this past week with Jensen and his kids felt like just hours since they arrived. Now here they were, packing up to head back to their mom's place.
I gathered my things, slipping on my shoes by the back door, preparing to leave when Jensen wandered over, a playful smirk on his face. "Where are you sneaking off to?" he teased, pulling me close by my coat.
I chuckled, gently pushing his chest back. "Home, silly."
His smile faltered, and he looked at me, surprised, almost hurt. "Why?"
Confusion washed over me as I approached him, offering a polite smile. "What do you mean, why? Out of respect. Remember last time?"
His expression turned cold, and he glanced away, attempting to rebuild his walls. "Hey, Jensen, don't do that," I urged gently. "I'm not trying to upset you. Last time we agreed we were enjoying the drama-free zone. We don't have to change anything."
He frowned, shaking his head. "I want it to change. I don't want to hide anymore. This past week has been amazing for all of us. I want our little bubble to pop and step into the real world, together."
I smiled, setting my bag down and moving closer to wrap my arms around him. "Then let's pop it."
Tumblr media
Half an hour later, the kids' mom arrived.
I swallowed my nerves, standing from my spot, glancing to Jensen who seemed even more nervous than I was.
Her face dropped when she saw me, a knowing smile on her lips. "Oh, Hi. Y/N, right?" she greeted, stepping closer to us.
I nodded, smiling warmly. "Yes, nice to see you again, Sarah!"
She maintained her composure, glancing at Jensen, who was unusually quiet and still, frozen almost. "Jensen? Are you going to say hi or just stand there like a deer in headlights?" she teased.
Jensen managed a polite smile, shaking off his nerves. "Hey, Sarah. How was the drive?"
She shrugged, looking towards her car. "Not bad. I do miss Austin, though. Might consider moving back."
Jensen's jaw clenched, his expression turning cold and guarded, walls going up brick by brick. I stepped back, letting them talk, sitting beside the kids on the stairs.
"So, did you guys have a good week?" I asked.
Katie nodded, leaning against my shoulder. "I'll miss you!"
I laughed softly, touched by her words. "I'll miss you too, Katie. But don't worry, I live right next door. Come visit me whenever you're back, okay?"
She nodded eagerly, and I turned to Kevin, who sat with arms crossed, wearing a grouchy expression. "And you, Kevin? Did you have a good week?"
He shrugged and huffed, retreating into his cold behaviour as if the week hadn't happened at all. It stung a bit, but he was a kid, struggling with the back-and-forth between parents. It couldn't be easy.
The parents' voices rose before falling silent altogether. Jensen walked away from Sarah, shaking his head, and approached Katie and Kevin, attempting a smile. "Come on, guys. Time to get in the car."
We waved goodbye as they drove off, and I couldn't help but feel a sting of sadness seeing Katie and Jensen look so downhearted. They weren't my family yet, but I could feel myself growing emotional seeing the hurt that filled the area.
Once the car was out of sight, Jensen sat on the stairs, and I joined him quickly. He stared out at the road, jaw clenched, fists tight with whatever was going on in his mind.
"Jensen?" I whispered, catching his attention.
He turned towards me, managing a sad smile. "I'm good. It's just a lot sometimes."
I nodded understandingly, squeezing his hand tightly. "Well, why don't we do something today? Get out of the house a bit?"
He smiled genuinely and squeezed my hand. "Yeah. Let's do it."
Tumblr media
After looking up things to do, Jensen suggested we visit the beachside market. It had little kiosks and stands with handmade items, something I was excited to explore.
We parked on the street, his hand finding mine immediately. Jensen was never shy about affection in the right moments. With his kids around, it was innocent; just the two of us, it was constant and comforting.
As we strolled down the pier, I admired the beautiful booths displaying a range of handmade items—henna art, handmade bags, clothing, and more. It felt like walking through an art exhibit, each stall captivating my attention.
Jensen chuckled softly, drawing my gaze. "What?" I asked nervously.
He smirked, pulling me close. "You're adorable. That's what."
My cheeks flushed at the compliment, Jensen was never shy of that either. He'd constantly throw compliments at me, telling me how beautiful I was, how adorable. He didn't realize how much those words meant to me, especially since I didn't feel like skmeone who belonged beside a celebrity like him, but he made me feel otherwise.
We continued down the boardwalk, stopping at each booth. Jensen paused at a display of handmade gemstone necklaces while I spotted something intriguing at the nearby booth—a handmade beanie with "COD" embroidered on it, Call of Duty.
My thoughts turned to Kevin. Would he like it? Would he find it ridiculous? Jensen wrapped his arms around me from behind, a soft kiss on my shoulder sending shivers down my spine. "What are you looking at?"
I smiled, pointing to the beanie hanging on the rack. "I'm not sure if Kevin would like it, but..."
He turned me to face him, a wide grin on his face. "He'd love it."
We purchased the beanie and were about to leave when giggling caught my attention. Two girls from a nearby booth were whispering and giggling, eyeing Jensen like he was a celebrity cutout.

But this past week with Jensen and his kids felt like mere hours since they arrived. Now they were packing up to head back to their mom's place. Kevin and Katie sorted their bags in the hallway while Jensen came down the stairs, as usual, to see them off.
I gathered my things, slipping on my shoes by the back door, preparing to leave when Jensen hurried over, a playful smirk on his face. "Where are you sneaking off to?" he teased, pulling me close by my coat.

Her face dropped when she saw me, a knowing smile on her lips. "Oh, hi. Y/N, right?" she greeted, stepping closer to us.
I nodded, smiling warmly. "Yes, nice to see you again, Daneel!"
She maintained her composure, glancing at Jensen, who was unusually quiet and still, frozen almost. "Jensen? Are you going to say hi or just stand there like a deer in headlights?" she teased.
Jensen managed a polite smile, shaking off his nerves. "Hey, Daneel. How was the drive?"
She shrugged, looking towards her car. "Not bad. I do miss Austin, though. Might consider moving back."

Once the car was out of sight, Jensen sat on the stairs, and I joined him quickly. He stared out at the road, jaw clenched, fists tight with some inner turmoil.
"Jensen?" I whispered, catching his attention.

I nodded understandingly, squeezing his hand tightly. "Well, why don't we do something today? Get out of the house a bit?"
He smiled, the first genuine one all morning. "Yeah. Let's do it."
After looking up things to do, Jensen suggested we visit the beachside market. It boasted kiosks and stands with handmade items, something I was excited to explore.
We parked on the street, his hand finding mine immediately. Jensen was never shy about affection in the right moments. With his kids around, it was innocent; just the two of us, it was constant and comforting.
As we strolled down the pier, I marveled at the beautiful booths displaying an array of handmade goods—henna art, handmade bags, clothing, and more. It felt like walking through an art exhibit, each stall captivating my attention.
Jensen chuckled softly, drawing my gaze. "What?" I asked nervously.

He turned me to face him, a wide grin on his face. "He'd love it."
I purchased the beanie and were about to leave when giggling caught my attention. Two girls from a nearby booth were whispering and giggling, eyeing Jensen like he was a celebrity cutout.
I glanced at Jensen, who seemed unbothered, unaware of the giggles or the fingers being pointed his way, and then I remembered. He's a celebrity-this is normal for him.
We started to walk back down the boardwalk when their high pitched screams stopped us in our tracks, the girls from before rushing over, stopping only inches from Jensen.
"Jensen! Oh my god! Can we get a picture please?"
Jensen turned towards me apologetically, but I shrugged it off with a polite smile. I knew this could have happened, I knew he was a celebrity, I just forgot. I didn't realize how intense this could be. How does he handle this?
After snapping a few photos for the girls, I handed back their phone. Insecurities started swallowing me, watching their perfect smiles, beautiful clothing and sun-kissed skin, and than there was me. I wasn't the type anyone would expect to see with a celebrity. Anxiety crept in, wondering why Jensen chose me.
I passed the phone back and started walking down the boardwalk, my anxiety rising with every step, the air in my lungs squeezing tight as my mind continued it's torture.
He caught up as I walked ahead, his hand gently resting on my back. "Hey... Are you okay?"
I nodded, forcing a smile that didn't quite reach my eyes. Panic swirled inside me, doubts echoing loudly.
Your not enough. Your fooling yourself by thinking he would EVER want to be with you. Jensen deserves better. He doesn't find you attractive. You're nothing.
"Honey?" Jensen whispered, stopping me and looking into my eyes, concern etched on his face.
I swallowed hard, a raspy cough escaping me, breathing fast. "Okay... okay, deep breaths," Jensen coached gently, his touch comforting.
I hated it. I hated that he was staring at me like this. I hated that I was ruining everything with my stupid mind. I hated that he had to take care of me. I hated that I wasn't good enough for him.
His hand was gentle yet firm on my arm, leading me to the stairs on the pier to get some privacy. I shakingly sat down, throwing my head in my hands to avoid whatever pity look he was offering me.
"Honey. Please talk to me, what's going on?"
Great job Y/N, now your worrying him for no reason.
"Jensen... you don't need to... I'll be okay," I managed between breaths, but the fear and sadness in my eyes were evident.
"Why are you saying this?" he asked softly, tilting his head, eyes searching mine.
I shook my head, tears streaming down. "Because... I'm not worth it... I don't fit in your world, Jensen Ackles and... I'm just me."
He took my hand, tilting my chin to meet his gaze. A soft smile graced his lips as he spoke, his eyes firm. "Says who?"
"Everybody." I raised my voice, the anxiety rising each moment. "Society. You seen those girls, I'm nothing compared to them. Their sun kissed skin, beautiful outfits and model like faces. I'm not like that at all."
He nodded and moved in front of me, holding my hands tightly. "You're right. Your not like those girls, that's why I like you. I love that even though you've been here for a while, you still have light skin, I love that I can clearly see the sun spots and freckles on your face, I love that you don't spend hours in the mirror putting makeup on, you just instantly look gorgeous. What you look like doesn't determine your worth but if it did, trust me your more than worth it."
I rolled my eyes and gained the courage to stand, my thoughts spiralling. "You don't need to say that."
He moved quickly, grabbing my arm and spinning me around until I was nestled tightly against him, his hand softly urging my head to rest on his chest.
"You are more than enough. You've never demanded anything from me. You gave me a second chance when I didn't deserve it. You've helped me countless times without expecting anything in return. And you connect with my kids so well—Kevin won't admit it, but he likes you. You've made an effort to play video games with him, to do what he enjoys. Katie takes up a lot of time, and I worry he feels left out, but you see him. You effortlessly balance everything, without seeking praise."
I wrapped my arms around him, holding him tightly, feeling him ground me. He understood me better than anyone.
"You will always be more than enough for me. You're the one I want to be with. Those other girls? They're not beautiful to me. You are beautiful. Naturally, flawlessly gorgeous. Just look at yourself... You take my breath away, honey."
Jensen gently lifted my face towards his, kissing me with a passion I'd never known before. Our bodies pressed together, warmth enveloping us. His hands moving to my hair, pulling me impossibly closer, making sure that I knew he meant what he said.
Each pause for breath left us gasping, caught in a whirlwind of emotions. We were falling in love, or perhaps we already had.
If he could love me like this, then maybe, just maybe, I truly was enough.

Coughing and Spilling the Tea
Tumblr media
Summary: Jensen’s daughter knows something he doesn’t.  And she can’t wait to tell him.
Words: None
Warnings: none
“Dad!” YN yelled for Jensen.  “I have something to tell you!” She grinned as he walked into the living room.
“Can’t talk! Emergency at the brewery!” He called behind him as he stepped through the garage door.  “Talk later!”
“Ungh.” YN sighed in disappointment.  “Whatever.”
“So, what’s the big news? I’m here, you can tell me!” Jared walked in and sat down next to her on the couch.
“Hi!” YN gasped.  “Were you charmed into hanging out with me tonight?” YN laughed.
“I wanted to.  Haven’t seen my little punk in a while.”
“I saw you yesterday.” YN tilted her head in curiosity.
“You know what I mean.  Just me and you.”
“Oh! In that case, can we pig out on pizza and ice cream and watch terrible movies please?  Is he going to be gone for a while?” Her face went from excitement to sadness quickly.
“It may be a while.  You tell me your good news and then I will answer your question,” he winked.  “I won’t tell your dad, promise.”
“I heard that Danneel Harris was working on a project in Austin, and she wants to “cross paths” with my dad!  OOOOOOoooo!” YN giggled.
Jared rolled his eyes.
“And where did you hear that?”
“So you have heard it too!” YN gasped.
“For the record, no, I had not heard that.”
“You know how it is here.  Plus- the kids I go to school with are all famous people and who are in town since their parents seem to have connections and know everyone.”
“You want them to date,” Jared sighed.  “Look-”
“Yes, I want them to date.  I’ve met her, and she is nice! They would get along great! Gen knows her, right? I’m going to go ask her what she thinks.”
“Nope, you’re staying right here.” Jared put his foot between her and the pathway to the door.  “We have pizza to order and a movie to watch.”
YN’s face fell.
“Gen is having a self-care night anyway.  She’s had a long week.  You can ask her later.”
His niece grumbled and sat back down.
“Fine,” she huffed.
After an evening of fun activities, Jensen was still not home.  Jared spent the night at the Ackles’ home because of it.
“I’m fourteen!  I’ll be fine!  Plus, you guys live next door, and I have my radio you gave me.”
She dangled the two-way radio in front of him.
“I told your dad I would.  It’s fine.”
During the night, he heard her coughing from her room.
“Hey, you okay?” He knocked lightly and slowly opened the door.
“Yeah,” YN rasped.
He walked closer to her as she coughed again.
Jared felt her forehead.
“Yikes,” he hummed to himself.  “Where is the humidifier? Take off all those blankets, it will help with your fever.”
“I don’t have a fever.” YN turned away from him.  “I’m fine.”
“Wrong answer.  Let’s go, chop, chop.”
“The humidifier is in the hall closet.” YN coughed again.
“I’ll be right back.” Jared walked out of her room.
He heard her groan and cough all night long.  The next morning, her dad was asleep in his room, but Jared was still on high alert for what she needed.
“Your dad got home super late last night.  He’s resting.  Would you like met to get you some tea?”
YN sat up in her bed.
“That would be great,” she whispered.
YN heard the sound of voices chatting from the kitchen.
Dad’s awake.  And home.
YN smiled to herself.
“Here,” Jared slowly handed her a coffee mug with Sam Winchester on it.
“Of course you would choose that one,” YN grinned before turning away and coughing.
“I’m going to go home and have breakfast with Gen.  Feel better,” he kissed the top of her head and exited the room.
A few minutes later, her dad rushed in with a wrinkled forehead and jaw clenched.
“Jared said you wanted to spill the tea! Why would you do that? It would make a mess and leave a stain!” Jensen crossed his arms and stood tall.
YN’s eyebrows scrunched as she tried to figure out what he was saying.
“I’m drinking the tea because my throat hurts.  I have no reason to spill the-” YN giggled.  “OH! It’s a saying, you weirdo!  It means gossip!”
A look of relief washed over him.  He pulled a chair close to her bed.
“And what’s that?”
“Your new girlfriend is shooting a movie here! I heard she wants to hang out with you while she is here.”
“Who?” Jensen sat up, confused.
“Danneel!”

"Sleep. I'll keep you safe." - Anael Prompt Response
Tumblr media
Summary: Anael is not happy that you've agreed to help the Winchesters with their far-fetched plan to destroy Chuck via Jack. She reluctantly accompanies you to the Bunker and this sets events in motion that prompt a conversation between you and Dean on just why the angel is so important to you.
Pairing: Anael x Female!Reader; Anael x Huntress!Female!Reader; past-ish Dean Winchester x Female!Reader; Dean Winchester x Huntress!Female!Reader
A/N: Prompt from @thelonelyempath. I really wanted to play with this sort of triangle dynamic that popped up while I was writing. This is still an Anael x Reader one shot/prompt response but Dean's my boy and I really loved the backstory that developed between him and the reader which then led to Anael. Hope it all came together okay.
Unbeta'd so all mistakes are mine.
There will be a note at the end.
Warnings: guns; implied threats of violence/killing; mentions of sex; torture; death; angst
Word Count: 10k+
Taglist: @avada-kedavra-bitch-187; @rieleatiel

You glanced to your right and rolled your eyes when you saw the angel who was currently sitting in your passenger seat, still fuming. You turned back to the road and gently tapped the steering wheel, wondering what you could say to get her to let this go. In the end, you decided to just be direct.
“Are you still upset about this?”
“Are you still going through with this ridiculous plan?” She snapped.
You bit your lip to keep from sighing in aggravation like you wanted to. You knew if she heard you do that, she’d never let up. “It’s not a bad plan…”
“Oh, yeah. Not a bad plan. Just have God’s sister trap him in the Winchesters’ basement. I’m sure he’ll be more than happy to wait for the weapon that will kill him to arrive.”
You nearly winced at her biting sarcasm. She had a point; this wasn’t the best plan and it was definitely a long shot but it was all any of you had. Sam and Dean had asked for your help and you were determined to give it to them, no matter what might happen. They always had your back when you needed it. You were going to return the favor — pissed off angel alongside you or not. Not to mention if this didn’t succeed then the world was literally going to be over. You all had to try.
“Look, it’s not exactly the most…sound plan but it’s the best we’ve got. We have to do something, Ana. If we don’t, then it’s lights out. That’s it.”
“We,” she scoffed, turning to glare out the window with her arms crossed.
You tightened your grip on the steering wheel at the same time your jaw clenched. “Don’t do that.”
She turned back to you. “Are you really going to pretend that he doesn’t have something to do with this suicidal decision you’ve made?”
You kept your eyes focused on the road. “He does.” After her huff, you added unapologetically, “He will always matter to me. Even if the world wasn’t on the line, I would still be there if he asked me. He would do the same for me. That’s how it’s always going to be between us.”
A moment of tense silence passed before she spit at you, “Then you’re dumber than I gave you credit for.” She looked out the window again and you turned up the music, pressing your foot further down on the gas. The sooner you got to your destination the better.

You opened up the bunker door, allowing Ana to walk inside first. She hadn’t said another word to you for the rest of the car ride (something unusual for her), and barely even looked at you. You knew she was furious, at everything from this plan to what you’d said earlier, but it couldn’t be helped.
When you followed her, shutting the door behind you, and both of you came to a stop at the railing, glancing down, you didn’t know what you had expected to see. It certainly hadn’t been Jack Kline standing in the map room, staring up at you, with a hand raised. “Hello.”
You and Ana briefly glanced at each other and you gave the boy a nod. “Uh, hey Jack. Sam and Dean here?”
He shook his head. “They had a last minute case come up. Something about an old friend asking for help, I think.”
“Ironic,” Ana quipped.
Jack furrowed his brows at her, not understanding her meaning, while you shot her a look. Of course, she just smirked at you in response and you could feel your body tensing in the same aggravation you’d felt in the car. “Is Cas here?” You asked instead.
Jack went to speak when you heard, “I’m here,” before a familiar dark-haired man walked into the room. It had been a while since you’d seen him but he still looked the same. He was still wearing the trenchcoat and the suit, no matter how many times Dean tried to get him to change up his wardrobe.
“Hey, Cas.”
He gave you a nod of greeting before turning a small relieved smile on Ana. “Anael, you’ve decided to help us in this fight after all.”
“Don’t get too excited, Castiel. I’m only here because it turns out she’s just as smart as the Winchesters.” She gestured towards you.
You gritted your teeth. “Ana…”
She gave you that smile she always gave you when she knew she was getting on your last nerve.
Cas glanced back and forth between you, a sudden realization of something beginning to dawn on his features. Jack still looked somewhat confused but also curious.
You cleared your throat. “So, any idea when the boys will be back?”
“Soon. I believe they just wrapped up their case and they’re headed back. They should be here by nightfall,” Cas supplied.
You gave him a wan smile as he appeared to study you intently. “Well, I’m starved. Got any food in that big kitchen of yours?”
“We have a lot of food,” Jack offered, trying to be helpful. “Sam went shopping the other day.”
“Great,” you responded with a little too much enthusiasm. “Let’s see what we’ve got.” You ignored Ana watching you in disapproval and Cas’ penetrative gaze as you descended the steps and followed Jack to said kitchen. Let Ana deal with whatever thoughts Cas might put voice to — you’d had enough angel judgment for one day.
Tumblr media
You and Jack were just putting the finishing touches on shepherd’s pie (the only thing you knew how to make outside of eggs and grilled cheese if you were being honest) when Sam and Dean returned home.
You had spent most of the day avoiding Cas and thankfully, when Ana joined you in the kitchen, she chose to relegate any commentary she made to your cooking skills (or lack thereof) alone. There was tension thick in the air but whether it had to do with what was going on in the background, Ana’s animosity towards you, or a mixture of both, you had no idea. Cas had eventually strode into the room, curious and happy to watch you teach Jack how to make the one dish your Grams had taught you to make. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw him smile when Jack asked you why it was called shepherd’s pie if the recipe didn’t come from any shepherds. Despite his questions, Jack seemed to be enjoying himself, learning something new and taking his mind off of what was coming. You felt badly for the kid; he was going to sacrifice himself to save the world. You couldn’t even imagine the weight of that burden on his young shoulders, Nephilim or not. So you were happy to provide a little distraction for him as well as yourself.
“Cas? Jack?” You heard Sam call.
“We’re back,” Dean added.
Cas was immediately on his feet, looking towards Ana and then you, before hurrying out of the room. You had to wonder what that was all about. It wasn’t as if the brothers weren’t expecting you. Plus, you were pretty sure Cas must have texted or called them to give them a heads up that you were here.
Ana turned back to you, her jaw tight and giving you a look. You rolled your eyes and helped Jack get out a stack of plates to set the table with. When you were done, you noticed Ana had stood up and moved away from the two of you, creating distance. Your own jaw clenched when you saw it. Why did she have to be so difficult sometimes?
“No plate for you?” You threw at her, knowing very well she wasn’t going to eat since she didn’t need to.
“Not just yet.”
Your brow creased in confusion. What was that response?
You didn’t have much time to think about it, though, because Dean and Sam rushed into the room, with Cas right behind them.
“What the hell are you doing here, Jo?” Dean boomed, heading right for Ana and carrying an angel blade.
“Dean,” Cas called, trying to get in front of him.
You watched as Ana raised her hand and sent both Winchesters flying backward, knocking them on their asses, and more importantly, the blade out of Dean’s hand.
“Anael,” Cas warned.
“I’m just supposed to allow them to kill me, Castiel? I don’t think so.”
You were torn. You wanted to rush over to the boys, make sure they were alright, but another part of you was telling you that you needed to get closer to Ana. What if she was right and Dean had really meant to kill her just then?
Both Winchesters were already up, Dean glaring at Ana. “You almost got us killed! Sending us to Hell on that wild goose chase! Hell, you almost got Cas killed!”
“He had to go to The Empty to ask Ruby where the Occultem was!” Sam added, thrusting a finger at her. “He almost didn’t make it back!”
“You’re Jo?” Jack asked, his expression hardening. “I thought your name was Anael.”
Ana didn’t spare him a glance. “That’s my angel name. Sister Jo is my brand, you could say.”
“Occultem?” You whispered, not ever having heard of it before though you tried racking your brains.
Ana flashed you a look, silently telling you she would fill you in later, before resting her eyes on the two men again. “That was a priceless item. You didn’t really expect me to give it up so easily for your little war with God, did you?” Her brown eyes narrowed. “No matter how much better looking than him you might be.”
Your eyes nearly bugged out of your head and turned onto Dean who still hadn’t noticed your presence yet. He was glaring straight at Ana and you noticed the blade was back in his hand. When had you missed him picking it back up?
“You shouldn’t have come here,” he said in an all-too familiar menacing tone, before he began moving forward again, Sam right behind him with his own angel blade. Cas tried to put up a placating hand but he was ignored. Jack watched as it all happened, glowering in Ana’s direction now, not making a move to stop his dads. Your brain shut off and before you knew it, you were in front of Ana, gun raised.
Dean stopped short, his eyes slightly widening as he finally saw you. Sam’s did, too. You were sure they highly doubted you would be on opposite sides over an angel, with a gun pointed at them no less.
“Put the blades down,” you ordered.
You watched as Dean’s green eyes briefly softened upon hearing you speak but then hardened again when he realized you meant business. Something was now layering his expression that looked an awful lot like betrayal. “You’re protecting her?” He asked in disbelief. “What the hell, Y/N?”
You could feel Ana right behind you, her energy filling the air. She was charged up and you felt a familiar static electricity feeling at your back. You wouldn’t be surprised if her eyes were doing their usual glowing trick right about now.
“This is what I was trying to tell you before you two charged in here.” Cas stood next to Dean, looking at him and Sam.
“Tell us what?” Dean demanded.
“She’s with me.” All three glanced over at you, Cas giving a subtle nod as he dropped his gaze. Sam wasn’t sure what to make of it but you noticed him starting to lower the blade in his hand. Dean kept glaring between you and Ana over your shoulder. Only when Cas urged him with a quiet “Dean”, nodding towards the blade in his hand, did he finally put it down. “You’ve gotta be freaking’ kidding me,” he growled before storming out of the room. Cas briefly glanced over at you before following him. Jack, who now scowled in your direction as well as Ana’s, slowly left the room. You lowered your gun, disappointment starting to swell in your chest. So much for a nice, quiet family dinner then.
Only Sam was left and he looked torn between wanting to follow his family and coming over to give you a hug like he normally would. You made it easy for him. “It’s okay, Sam. I understand. Go.”
He pressed his lips together, giving you a sad look, before he nodded and left the room as well.
You let out a heavy breath and hung your head. The Winchesters were the only family you had left and now…it looked like they were gone, too.
You felt a hand gently lay on your shoulder, the electric charge from before gone, and you slowly lifted your head. “We should go,” you whispered after a minute. Ana let you go and you turned to throw on your jacket, sling your bag over your shoulder, and then you led her out of the room. You kept your gun handy in case it wasn’t just a straight pass to the stairs. Thankfully, it was and a piece of your heart broke that Dean hadn’t even given you a chance to explain before he’d written you off for good.
Tumblr media
You kept your eyes on the road as headlights repeatedly washed over you from passing cars in the opposite lane. It was deathly quiet, you having chosen not to turn on the radio. Your thoughts kept going back to the betrayal you’d seen in Dean’s face when he realized you weren’t going to let him get to the angel standing behind you. While Ana wasn’t Cas, didn’t he understand how things like this worked by now? Even when you’d been together for a period of time, you’d bore witness to his profound bond with Cas playing out repeatedly. You’d seen Cas’ effect on Dean and vice versa, today even.
“You didn’t have to do that.”
You heard Ana’s quiet words that seemed to be laced with a shocking mix of surprise and what sounded like awe. You didn’t know why; it wasn’t anything you hadn’t done before when you two fought side by side. “Do what?” You decided you’d rather play dumb than talk about the elephant sitting between you.
Out of the corner of your eye, you could see the red-headed angel giving you a look. “Don’t. You know exactly what I’m talking about. You shouldn’t have put yourself at risk for me.” She knew what it cost you and how badly it was tearing you up inside. And to think she had been worried about Chuck, the plan, Jack, and even Dean, though for a whole other reason on that last one.
You shrugged. “That’s what we do. It’s what you’ve done for me. Why wouldn’t I?”
You turned in time to see the surprise you’d heard earlier now taking up residence in her expression. It was a fleeting glimpse you caught right before she schooled her features and focused on the highway instead.
You did the same and you finally spoke the question that had been burning your tongue for the last hour into existence. “So, are you going to tell me about the Occultem and why they’re pissed at you enough to want to kill you? I sort of got an idea from earlier but I want to hear it from you.”
You heard a familiar scoff and if you weren’t so torn up inside, you might have smiled. It was nice to hear her annoyance not aimed at you for once this entire day. “They ambushed me at my place of business, threatened me, and then expected me to hand them the Occultem on a silver platter. Just like that. That’s what happened.”
“I think there’s a little more to it than that, Ana.” You glanced over at her. “Start from the beginning.” When she narrowed her eyes in your direction, you spoke before she could. “You owe me that at the very least,” you muttered.
You turned back to the road and you weren’t sure if she saw the pain you were feeling (most likely since she always seemed to be able to see right through you; it was annoying most of the time), but she agreed. “Fine.”
You swallowed down the lump that had formed in your throat at the thought track repeating in your head of “You’re protecting her? What the hell, Y/N?” and the images of Dean’s back as he walked away from you. You were happy to focus on something else and Ana’s voice actually began to soothe you as it filled the car.
You didn’t know how but somehow you knew everything was going to work out, Chuck ending the world or not.
Tumblr media
You heard a familiar rumbling outside your motel room door and you quickly glanced in Ana’s direction. She looked up at you from her chair, money in her hands that she had been counting from her last service, and you gave her a nod. You threw your jacket on, keeping the gun in your pocket and easy to reach just in case. “Be careful,” you murmured.
“You first.”
You pressed your lips together and turned back to the door. You took a deep breath before you opened it and stepped out, seeing Dean shutting the car door and meeting your eyes. He didn’t appear to be armed and he was alone as he’d claimed he would be when he called you earlier, asking where you were so you two could talk. You weren’t one hundred percent sure it wasn’t a trap, which you absolutely hated thinking, but after Ana told you what she’d done to them and their reaction to her earlier…well, you could see why they weren’t exactly thrilled with her. And if they didn’t try to hurt her, that didn’t mean they wouldn’t do a blood sigil and banish her to someplace far away from you. You were on high alert for any possibility.
“Hey,” he gruffed out.
“Hey.” You shut the door behind you and stuffed your hands in your pockets.
You didn’t see any traces of the betrayal or hurt or anger that you’d seen earlier so that was a good sign. His green eyes were no longer hard when they focused on you. “Can we go somewhere and talk?”
“I can’t. Have to stay close.” You gestured back to the room. It was something Ana had asked you to do when you went over possible contingencies after Dean’s call but she hadn’t needed to; you already planned to stay within running distance if you needed to get back right away.
Dean’s jaw clenched when he looked towards the room. “So, she’s got you on a short leash, huh?”
You huffed a snort, shaking your head. “Goodbye, Dean.” You began to turn back to the room, thinking this had been a colossal waste of time which just broke your heart further.
“Y/N, wait! I— I’m sorry.”
You spun back around to face him, glaring.
“I shouldn’t have said that.”
“No, you shouldn’t have,” you bit out.
Dean licked his lips and momentarily moved his gaze around until he settled on something to his left. “What about over there? Is that close enough?”
You glanced where he was inclining his head towards. Across the parking lot sat what looked to be a makeshift pergola gazebo or something they’d tried to make into one anyway. A wooden picnic table sat under it and there were some lights haphazardly hung on the edges up top, snaking around the thin posts. You gave him a nod of agreement, it was private enough but still kept you close.
You waited for him to start walking and as you followed, you glanced around, making sure no one was trying to sneak their way up to your door or that there were any warning signs of an impending ambush. “Looks clear,” you mentally prayed to Ana. “But keep your guard up.” For a moment, you wished you also had the angelic super hearing she had or the ability to tune into Angel Radio to be able to hear her back.
Dean took a seat on the table and you did the same, keeping some distance between you. He noticed it and his jaw clenched again. “Really? You’re that pissed at me?”
You pressed your lips into a thin line as you thought it over, and then you moved slightly closer.
He let out a snort. “Didn’t realize that much had changed between us.”
You stared out over the highway. “It did.”
Dean studied you for a moment and then followed suit. “Yeah, well, probably for the best.”
You could feel a familiar stinging in the corner of your eyes. Dean always had the ability of using words to hit you where it hurt the most. “Probably.”
There was a moment of tense silence between you before he spoke again. “Cas mentioned things might be different now…for you.”
You shrugged but didn’t respond. At this point, you just wanted him to spit out what he came to say and leave. Which was indeed different from how you usually felt about getting alone time with him, but he was being a dick.
Almost as if he heard your thoughts, he turned to look at you. “I’m not trying to be a dick, Y/N. I’m really not. But all this time and you never told me once that you had an angel riding shotgun with you? The same angel who tricked us and took Lucifer’s side, and then tricked us again and almost got us all killed?”
You looked over at him with a scoff. “When was I supposed to tell you, Dean? In between Chuck trying to end the world and you helping with Jack’s powering up regimen so he can take him down? Or during Michael’s mindwalk inside your head? When was I supposed to tell you? We never talk anymore.”
“That’s not true,” he argued.
You got to your feet, glaring at him. “Yes, it is! The only time I hear from you is when you need something.” You ignored Dean’s angry expression and continued. “When you need help for a case, information, whatever it is. That is the only time I hear from you!”
“Yeah, well, it’s a two-way street. When was the last time you called just to check in? Tell us how you’re doing? When?”
You let out a laugh of disbelief. “You told me we were done, Dean! Right after Michael possessed you the first time. You remember that?”
Now he was on his feet, too, scowling at you. “Me saying we were done didn’t mean we were out of each other’s lives forever! If I didn’t call you about hunts or Sam didn’t call you to ask you to keep an eye out for something wherever you were, we wouldn’t even know you were still alive!”
That last word made you wince. You tried to hide it but Dean saw it. He let out a breath and the next time he spoke, he was no longer yelling. “You can blame me all you want, Y/N, but you didn’t tell Sam, either.”
“There was nothing to tell,” you mumbled, sitting back down on the table, refusing to look at him.
He gave you a look before sitting back down next to you, closer than before. “Look, I didn’t come here to fight. I want to clear the air. You’ve never pulled a gun on me before.”
You arched your brows over at him. You had done it quite a few times over the years, when he was a demon being the most recent.
“Not on me,” he clarified.
You turned back to the road but didn’t say a word.
He laid a gentle hand on your knee. “I want us to be good, Y/N. You’re family…and you’re still important to me.”
You briefly closed your eyes in pain. It had always been a tough balancing act, straddling the line of family and you and Dean being something more to one another. Even before you got together and made it official. Even back when you were teenagers. But ever since he put an end to your relationship, it had become almost impossible for you to continue doing. But he was right…you both were still family, and you didn’t want him shut out of your life. You had been broken-hearted at the thought of it not a mere hour ago before he’d called.
You covered his hand with yours. “I know. You’re still important to me, too, and you’re right, we’re family.”
Dean's eyes were transfixed on your hands until he glanced up at you, his eyes softer than before.
You squeezed his hand. “We’re good.” You gave him a nod and let him go, waiting a moment before you added, “As long as you leave Ana alone.”
He shot you a look but you never glanced away. He needed to know you meant it.
Dean sighed, studying you. “For now,” he agreed.
“Dean, that’s—”
“That’s all you’re getting out of me.” He rubbed his thumb over your knee. “Unless you tell me what happened.”
You dropped your gaze to your lap. “Why do you want to know about that? I’m here, aren’t I?”
“Because,” Your eyes lifted to his, hearing the breaks in his voice. “I need to know why Cas sees the claim she has on your soul.”
Crap. You should have known from how Cas was studying you since you’d set foot in the Bunker. “It’s not what you think,” you started.
“Then what is it? Because it looks to me like she tricked you into selling your soul to her.”
You moved your knee from under his hand and pulled away. “That’s not what happened. She didn’t trick me.”
“Then what did happen?” He cupped your cheeks and forced you to look at him. “Y/N, talk to me,” he implored. “I need to know what’s going on.”
You thought it over for a moment, realizing you really didn’t have a way around this, now that Dean knew. And truthfully, you didn’t really want one, though you still felt the heavy weight of shame wrapped around you, something you knew would be even heavier by the time you finished explaining.
You grabbed his hand and turned to kiss his wrist before getting to your feet. Dean let you go and you took a few steps away, your arms crossed and your back to him, taking a deep breath. “Do you remember the witch who killed my family?”
“Yeah, back in Phoenix. Dad tried to track her down after but couldn’t. Why?”
You pressed your lips together. “I found her.” You didn’t need to turn around to know Dean was frozen in shock. “I came across her during another case.”
Dean was in front of you before you could blink. “Please tell me you didn’t take her on alone.”
You stared at him, saying nothing.
“Dammit, Y/N! You should have called us! What the hell were you thinking?”
“I was thinking the bitch had killed my family and I wanted her dead.”
He shook his head, angry at you as you knew he would be. “But you don’t go it alone! We’ve talked about this. Never alone!”
“Yeah, I know and you’re right, alright? But I’m standing here in front of you now so do you want me to finish the story or not?” You snapped.
His jaw clenched and he glared at you but remained quiet.
You let out an aggravated breath. “I didn’t have time to call anyone else. I didn’t want her to escape and be in the wind again so the hunter I was with at the time, Carrie, she and I went after her.” Dean briefly closed his eyes but kept his gaze on you. “She had a pack of werewolves she was working with and she set them on me. I killed a few but there were too many. They ripped me apart. Carrie, too.” You felt a lump begin to form in your throat at the thought of the hunter you’d gotten killed but you swallowed it back down. “They were about to finish me off when two other hunters showed up. Carrie thought we might be going into a trap so she called them while I was gearing up. There were still too many werewolves but they managed to get us out of there. They drove us straight to this church in the next town where a faith healer had set up shop. The rumor going around the hunter community at that time was that this healer might actually be an angel, one of the fallen.” Your eyes began to well up. “Carrie didn’t make it.”
Dean briefly dropped his gaze down to the ground.
“I almost didn’t and honestly, I wouldn’t have if it hadn’t been for Ana. She healed me.” You nearly winced thinking about the next part you would have to tell him. “Once I was up and moving around again, I didn’t want the witch to disappear and she already had a hell of a head start so I asked Rick, one of the hunters that helped us, if he knew of a crossroads in town.”
You saw Dean’s lips part in shock and then his eyes hardened. “Are you kidding me? After everything Sam and I told you, after everything you saw happen with my deal, you still—”
“You didn’t hear the screams my sister made when she was dying, Dean!” He pressed his lips into a thin line but didn’t say anything to that. How could he? Sure, he’d seen people die in some of the worst ways imaginable since becoming a hunter, but he also saw the nightmares you had for years afterwards. They all had.
Dean had held you as you shook in terror, crying into his neck as he tried to assure you that you were safe. There were many nights your cries had woken Sam up as well and he’d slip into Dean’s bed, laying his head on your back and hugging you from behind while you sobbed and his brother whispered reassurances to you. If John was around when the nightmares happened, he’d keep quiet while his sons comforted you but the next morning, he’d let you pick the music you wanted to hear and would offer you to ride shotgun if you wanted. You would choose Dean’s favorite Led Zeppelin tape every time and sit in the back, opting to let Sam take the front. Dean would hold your hand and rub tender circles into your skin while you stared out the back window of the Impala until you would get sleepy and rest your head on his shoulder. Dean, Sam, John — none of them could keep the nightmares away, but they made you feel safe again after you’d lost your family. They became your family and John trained you to become a hunter just like his boys.
Tears threatened to spill down your cheeks. “She was only six years old!” You had to watch as the witch had liquefied her insides, causing as much pain and torment as possible. You’d not only heard her painful screams but the terrified yells of your mother as she also witnessed your sister’s death before the witch moved onto your older brother. John got there in time to save you, the last one left; you’d had to watch and hear them all die — your parents, your siblings — helpless to do anything since you were magically bound. “I would have done anything to get that bitch and make sure she never hurt anyone else ever again.”
Dean’s fist clenched at his side but he nodded. He understood; you knew he did.
“As it turns out, I didn’t get that far. Ana overheard our conversation. Rick was trying to talk me out of it but I was insistent. She pulled me to the side and told me that if I was going to throw my life away to go after the hag, then she had a one-time offer for me. She offered me the same deal a crossroads demon would have: my soul for the witch. But instead of ten years, there would be no ticking clock over my head, no monsters from Hell would come to drag me down to the pit, and once I died, whenever that would be, my soul would belong to her and her alone. No Heaven, no Hell, just hers, to do with as she wished.”
“Y/N,” Dean let out in a broken whisper. You could see this was killing him but you had to finish explaining, make him understand. As ashamed as you were, you still wanted him to know the truth.
“I took it, Dean.”
A tear dropped down his cheek and you fought every impulse you had to reach over and wipe it away.
“And she kept her part of the bargain. She packed up and traveled with us to where the witch was hiding out. We caught them off guard. Rick and Layla finished off the rest of the werewolf pack and Ana stayed with me. The witch used some sort of spell to banish Ana and then it was just me and her.” You knew this next part was going to hurt him but you had to say it. “She killed me, Dean.”
He stared at you in horror.
“The same way she killed my family. I felt everything they did.” You were looking through Dean now, awash in memories. “You see, she recognized me and she decided to finish me off the same way she did them. I heard her laughing in the background while she... The pain alone…” You came back to yourself with a jolt, realizing you were no longer in that place, writhing in agony on the floor as your insides burned and turned to liquid, blood pouring from your eyes, nose, and mouth as you screamed and screamed. “The next thing I remember, Ana was crouching over me. She had healed my body and put my soul back inside.” You whispered the last part in awe. That part of the story still inspired wonder for you, even now.
“She had overpowered the witch somehow when she was able to get back to us. Ana left her for me to deal with and deal with her, I did.” You clenched and unclenched your jaw at the memory of the bitch’s screams of agony before you finished her off. You made sure she felt everything your family did, everything you had, and Ana had been more than willing to help you.
“You died?” Dean choked out.
You glanced up at him and noticed the devastation in his expression, his eyes still wet. “For only a few minutes,” you tried to reassure him. He didn’t need to know that it had been a little longer than that. You could see how torn up he was already now that he knew what happened to you. “The witch’s spell wasn’t as effective as an angel banishing sigil so Ana was able to come back pretty quickly.”
You watched as he reached for you, cupping your cheeks and pulling you into him. His lips were on yours before you could react and you let him kiss you, feeling his desperation, knowing he was reassuring himself that you were okay, here in his arms, alive. When he finally broke away from you, he gently grasped your arms and laid his forehead against yours, staring into your eyes. “I should’ve never let you go,” he whispered. “I was only trying to keep you safe, I’m sorry.”
Your brows furrowed slightly. “Dean, what are you talking about?”
He sighed and pressed a tender kiss to your nose before lifting his head. “When Michael let me go the first time, I was scared he was going to come after everybody I cared about so I…” You saw his Adam’s apple bob up and down. “I ended it between us.”
Your jaw dropped. “Why would you do that? I could have helped you track him down!”
“Because I wanted you safe!” He yelled in exasperation. “I didn’t know what Michael was gonna do, okay? I didn’t want you getting caught in the crossfire!”
“You don’t get to make that decision for me!” You argued.
“Yeah, I do, because I love you, goddammit!” He looked just as surprised as you felt by his accidental admission.
His words hit you like a semi on a slippery freeway. A part of you wanted to respond and the other part…the other part wanted to skip right past it as if it had never been said. Especially when you thought back to the heartbreak you’d felt when he coldly told you that you were done and he needed some space, implying you needed to leave the Bunker asap. No explanation, no goodbye, just…done.
The lump was back in your throat again, forcing you to swallow it back down. “Yeah, well, that still doesn’t give you the right to do what you did.” You crossed your arms and looked away from him, back towards the motel, so he wouldn’t see the tears building in your eyes at his declaration that you would have given anything to hear more than a year ago. You saw the Impala still parked where Dean had left it and you remembered it was facing your room and who was in that room. Too little, too late now.
You felt Dean’s fingers gently grip your chin and turn your head back towards him. His green eyes were glistening, full of a deep sadness you’d only seen before when he talked about his mom and their family back in the day or when he’d finally managed to tell you about his time with Lisa and Ben. “And it didn’t keep you all that safe, did it?” The corners of his lips tipped up in a remorseful smile.
You watched him for a moment and then lifted up on your toes, gripping his face to kiss him. You put everything you felt for him into it, not wanting him to ever doubt just how much of a hold he still had on your heart. When you pulled back, you looked into his eyes and spoke truly. “I love you, Dean. I’m always going to love you. You’re the love of my life.” His eyes softened at your words. “But things are different now. I’m different. And things will never be as they were before.” You ran your thumb tenderly over his lips before stepping back, putting more distance between you.
You saw as he tried to recover from what you’d said, nodding and turning from you to run a hand down his face, effectively wiping away the wetness from his stubbled cheeks. You heard a quiet sniffle and gave him a moment.
“And, uh,” You glanced up at him. “What about your soul? Cas said you still have her mark. Are you still stuck in some deal?”
You smiled, shaking your head. “Not technically. It’s there as more of a failsafe.”
“Failsafe?”
“In case something happens to me, then my soul goes to her. Just like it did the last time.”
“And what if something happens to her?”
You frowned, not liking that possibility being voiced, especially given the current circumstances. Plus, you wouldn’t put it past Dean to be thinking over options to free you. “Then the mark disappears. But then it’s anybody’s game.”
“But you’d be free,” he insisted.
Your jaw clenched and you lifted your chin defiantly. You knew it; you knew Dean and the way he thought way too well. You’d been trained together and hunted together for years, after all. “I don’t want to be free. Not the way you’re implying.”
His brows drew together in confusion. “Why wouldn’t you want to be free?”
“You have Cas. You should understand.”
“Cas doesn’t own my soul, Y/N. That’s completely different.”
“Is it?”
“Uh, yeah, I’d say it is.”
He obviously didn’t get your meaning, or he was trying hard not to. You decided to let it go. “We may not have the profound bond that you and Cas do, but what we have works for us. Let’s just leave it at that.”
He scrubbed at his jaw, staring at you, before closing the distance between you again. This time you expected it when he kissed you and you held onto his jacket, kissing him back. You hadn’t lied before; he was the love of your life, deep within your heart, and he always would be. “If you ever want out of this, you call me,” he whispered.
You nodded, closing your eyes when he leaned in to kiss you again. You knew you wouldn’t be making that call but you knew he would refuse to let you go unless you gave him that reassurance. He rubbed his nose along yours and you nearly smiled at the memory it produced from when you two used to make out as teenagers.
“What about the plan for Chuck? And Amara? Do you still want my help with that?”
“No, sweetheart,” he murmured. “I want you as far from here as you can get. Just in case things go South.”
You stared up at him sadly. “Dean, I know you and Ana have history but she’s only there to protect me. We could help.”
“That’s not it. If this plan doesn’t work, with Jack, then we’re all screwed.”
You tugged at his jacket with your hands. “Which is why you can use all the help you can get.”
“Y/N, you can’t help on this one.” You were about to protest when he spoke again. “Not this time.”
“Then why did you call me?”
He gave you a sad smile and you felt his arms tighten around you. ‘Why do you think?”
Memories flashed through the forefront of your mind:
…“Blaze of Glory” by Bon Jovi playing in the background of the Impala and Dean singing it into your ear as you fell asleep on his shoulder in the backseat,
…Conversations with him and Sam about how you all would like to go out fighting if you had a choice on how you’d die as a hunter,
…Dean holding your bare body to his in the bed of a motel room that he’d been able to secure after a few successful games of Pool while John was on a hunt, with Sam in the next room and you two having just lost your virginities to each other, murmuring how he wanted to keep you with him always, believing that you’d fallen asleep,
…Him cuddling up to you in the Dean Cave during a western you’d seen a thousand times (because it was one of his favorites) and him telling you that he and Sam would be Butch and Sundance but you would be Etta Place which would cause you to frown and him to then grumble that you could be his Sundance which would earn him a kiss on the cheek while Sam rolled his eyes.
You knew right then that he didn’t fully believe Billie’s plan would work, though he hoped it would. Which meant you might never see him again. Because there was no way Chuck wouldn’t be pissed at the attempt and come right after him and Sam.
Your vision began to blur with the building tears and you gave him your own sad smile. “And now you’re sending me away? Again? That’s not how it’s supposed to go. Remember?”
He wiped your cheeks with both thumbs. “You said it yourself, sweetheart, things are different now. Besides, Sam and I talked it over before I came out here. He agrees. We both want you somewhere safe.”
“So you’re making me Etta Place again?” You choked out.
“Baby,” A tear made its way down his cheek. “You were never supposed to be anyone else.”
You sobbed out a laugh and hugged him tightly, not wanting to let him go. “You could come with us. You and Sam and Cas and Jack. You could leave this all behind and come with us. Just as long as you don’t pick Bolivia.”
He chuckled into your ear. “I wish I could, sweetheart. Chuck would find us wherever we tried to go. Billie’s plan is the best we’ve got. We’re going to see it through. And the only way I can do that,” He pulled back from you and held onto your arms, rubbing soothing circles into them with his thumbs. “Is if I know you’re far away from here. She’s another dick angel in my book and I don’t trust her, but if she’ll keep you safe, then that’s all I care about right now.”
You nodded and sniffled. “Are you sure I can’t change your mind?”
He framed your face with his hands and shook his head.
More tears spilled down your cheeks. “I love you,” you whispered.
“I love you, too, sweetheart. Always have,” He pulled you into an embrace and kissed the side of your head. “Always will.”
You didn’t know how long you stayed like that for but he held you until the tears finally stopped flowing. You were ashamed at how easily you had been willing to dismiss him from your life after he had broken your heart, after he’d threatened Ana, and now you might never see him again. Your heart literally felt torn in two. A part of you wanted to go with him, no matter how he or Ana might protest, no matter if you ended up dying, but the other part wanted to give him what he asked for. So he could have peace of mind and be able to focus on the plan if for nothing else.
You had loved Dean Winchester since you were ten years old. You knew in that moment, just as you did back then and all of the time between, that you would love him for the rest of your life, however long that might be. He would always have a piece of your heart, even if your soul belonged to somebody else.
Tumblr media
You watched as Dean backed Baby out of her spot in front of your room and you gave him a wave. He’d wiped away your tears, kissed you goodbye one last time, and told you to haul ass out of Kansas by morning. He’d promised to call you the following evening with an update.
Once he was speeding down the road out of sight, you opened the door, letting out a breath of relief to see Ana still sitting where you’d left her. You knew Dean didn’t mean her any harm at the moment, but you weren’t sure just how much of your goodbye with Dean she’d actually heard. Probably everything, if her stare was anything to go by.
“I take it you heard everything?”
“I did.” She got to her feet, making her way over to you. “So you still love him, just as I said earlier which you completely denied.”
You gave her a look. “Ana, if you heard everything then you know—”
“I do.” Her eyes studied your face, most likely seeing the puffiness underneath your bloodshot eyes from crying so much. She reached out a hand and cupped your cheek, tenderly stroking it with her thumb. “I’ll give Castiel one thing, human love is beyond puzzling. I certainly didn’t need a magic 8 ball to know how that little convo was going to go. Despite how much Dean Winchester has hurt you, I was pretty sure for a moment there you were going to get another room and I was going to have to listen to the sounds of two primates mating in the wild.”
You yanked your face away and glared at her. “Stop it, Ana.” You made your way to the bed, roughly unzipping your bag and tossing everything of yours inside. “Dean said we should get out of Kansas as soon as possible. He doesn’t know when the next part of Billie’s plan is kicking off or when Amara is going to show up with Chuck, so it might not be safe to spend the night. We should keep moving.” You felt her hand on your shoulder and you let out an irritated sigh before turning to scowl at her. “What?”
She stared at you for a moment before leaning down to brush her lips over yours. You froze, unsure of what to do. Ana had never done something like this before and even stranger, you could feel yourself responding to it. Just like you had with Dean, though it was different, softer, and lit up a separate part of you inside. You felt yourself attempting to deepen the kiss but she pulled away, leaving you feeling dazed, yearning, guilty, and frustrated — a confusing swirl of emotions.
She smirked down at you, pleased with your reaction and trailed a gentle finger over your lips. “We should be fine here for the night. We can leave in the morning when you’ve gotten some sleep so you can drive. I’ll keep watch.” She turned and walked away, still smirking, and left you watching after her in complete shock.
You shook it off the best you could and went about getting the things you would need for the night out of your bag. Ana was kissing you now? That was new. Could today get any more complicated?
Tumblr media
You were submerged in darkness, nothing but pure black everywhere you looked. The last thing you knew you were screaming out in agony, feeling infinite pain, mentally begging for death. Then, nothing. You were just floating along in…nothing.
“Come to me.”
You heard the sweetest voice you had ever heard, calling out to you, and you wanted to go to it but you weren’t sure how. When you attempted to move, you couldn’t. You were frozen in a sea of nothing.
“Y/N,” the voice called. “Come to me now.” As soothing as that voice had been, you could hear the clear command at the end. You wanted to go but how?
Suddenly, a shaft of bright blue-white light appeared right in front of you. “Let’s go,” the voice called, sounding much closer and it vibrated off of the blackness surrounding you. The light reached out to you and you somehow reached back. You liked the light, trusted it, and it felt warm when it touched you. Warmth that reminded you of your grandmother’s homemade apple pie fresh out of the oven, Dean and Sam snuggled up against you in the motel rooms you’d stayed in often as children, your mother’s smile as you and your siblings played on the swingset in the backyard, the blanket your father wrapped around you when you were home sick from school, the feeling of Dean’s hand in yours — pure warmth. You felt completely safe and whole, as if nothing bad or painful could get at you here, not while the light was touching you.
“There.” The light pulled you further into it and it was so blindingly beautiful that you felt the urge to cry at the same time that you wanted to smile. “Come to me.” At this final command, you pushed into the light at the same time it pulled you forward and everything went white.
The next second, you were back in your body, staring up at a familiar red-headed woman though her eyes were glowing the same color light you had been moving towards a mere moment ago. Two little dots of the blue-white light focused on you as the angel’s hands rested on your chest, a golden glow emanating from them.
You blinked and coughed and the lights faded from her eyes as did the glow from her hands. Now very worried looking brown eyes were gazing down at you. “Took you long enough,” she muttered. “How do you feel?”
You coughed again and tried to sit up with her helping you. You suddenly took notice of a familiar face, a face that haunted your dreams every single night, sneering at you, her hands bound by an invisible force, hanging from something unseen. Her lips also appeared to be sealed by that same force. “What…happened?” You rasped out.
“There’s no easy way to say this. You died.”
You turned wide eyes on her. “What? H-How?”
Ana glared over at the witch. “Her.”
You met the witch with your own glare and it all came back to you in a flash: the pain, the torture, the screaming, your family. At that last thought, you slowly got to your feet, Ana helping to steady you. “What’s holding her?”
She smirked over at the old hag. “Me.”
Something occurred to you just then. “Why did you bring me back? You had my soul. You could’ve just walked away with it. No one would’ve been the wiser. So why bring me back?” You were very well aware of how this angel operated. You had been brought to the forefront of her business after all, bleeding and torn up on death’s door. Granted, she hadn’t charged you for saving your life but you weren’t ignorant to the donations she usually collected for her services.
Her jaw tightened and you could tell she was thinking it over before she turned to answer you. “I’m nothing if not an excellent businesswoman. A deal’s a deal. The witch was alive and you weren’t. That wasn’t the terms of our agreement so I brought you back. I can’t have word getting around that I don’t hold up my end of the deal. It’s not good for business.”
You weren’t quite sure you believed her. Not only because she was an angel (and an angel that charged people money to heal them) but because somehow you just knew that hadn’t been the reason she’d done it. But that was a problem for later. Now, your focus was on the witch. “So, are you going to let her go so I can finally finish her off?”
“Hmm, I don’t really think that’s a good idea, do you? Last time you went toe to toe with her, you died.”
“You weren’t here then as my backup generator. Now, you are.”
“Oh, really, Rocky? That’s what you think I am? A defibrillator? Maybe I should let her go and let you die again. And this time, I won’t bring you back. You would make a nice addition to my collection of beautiful things stored in my Louis Vuitton. You know, they say diamonds are forever but it’s really all about souls this year.”
You both heard the witch trying to yell something but unable due to her invisible gag. “Okay, seriously, we can argue later. Let her go, Ana, I’ve got this.” You picked up the blade that had been thrust out of your hand before the pain and screaming started, and tensed in preparation.
The angel turned to you with brows drawn together. “Ana?”
“Jo then. Now, come on, let’s do this.” You were more than ready to take this bitch down.
“No. I like the sound of Ana. It’s better.”
You glanced at her in disbelief. “Seriously?”
“Oh. Right.” She went to wave her hand in the witch’s direction when she stopped. “Actually, may I make a suggestion for this little revenge fantasy of yours?”
You shot her a look.
“I think you’ll like it.” She gave you a wicked smirk and then leaned in to whisper in your ear. A smirk started to appear on your own face the more she talked. She had been right. You liked her suggestion. It was going to take you hours to finish the witch and since you had just been brought back to life, fully healed, you had more than enough energy to pull it off.
Bright flashes happened and you could hear the witch’s muffled screams as you carved into her and Ana then healed her. More bright flashes and you could see Ana’s devious smirk as she began to neutralize her angel-style but stopped right before it took. Another bright flash and you glared into the witch’s eyes as you stabbed her, gritting out, “That was for my sister.” As you’d anticipated after agreeing to Ana’s suggestion, it took both of you hours to torture and kill the witch. Ana had liquified her insides multiple times throughout before bringing her back from the brink. Rick and Layla had left long ago, satisfied that they had gotten payback for Carrie with the werewolves they took out and not wanting to be a part of what you and Ana were doing to the witch. Another bright flash and the witch’s lips unsealed with a scream that sounded an awful lot like your sister’s that then turned into booming thunder.
You woke with a gasp and grabbed your gun that always had a few rounds of witch-killing bullets loaded, sitting straight up and glancing around the dark room, aiming for anything that might move. Your eyes came to a stop on Ana, sitting in the same chair as before, her eyes glowing that familiar bluish-white light. You lowered your gun in relief. To anyone else, this very picture might scare them but to you it was soothing and made you feel safe; it reminded you of when she’d brought you back and how it felt before you were back in your body completely.
The glowing light suddenly disappeared and the dark reigned once more. “It’s okay,” she reassured. “It’s just a thunderstorm.” Almost as if to solidify her explanation, a loud clap of thunder sounded overhead. “No one’s here but me.”
You nodded and when the room lit up with a lightning flash, you could see she was right. You placed your gun back underneath your pillow and hugged your knees to your chest. “I had that dream again.”
Ana stopped counting her money and glanced up at you. You always marveled at her ability to see in complete darkness, to the point that she could do things like that without any light whatsoever. “The witch one?”
“Yeah,” you whispered.
“From when you were younger or from when she killed you?”
“When I died. I think telling Dean maybe got me thinking about it again so that’s why…” You gestured towards your head. “I was remembering the pain and the screaming…”
You heard the chair lightly scrape across the floor and in the next flash of lightning, you saw her coming over to you. She gently sat on the bed next to you and wrapped an arm around you, pulling you close until your head was on her shoulder. “I’m sorry I didn’t get there fast enough.”
You shook your head. “Don’t apologize. You saved me and then helped me finish her.”
“True.” She ran a tender hand over your hair. “But I wish you didn’t have those memories.” After a moment, she added, “I could take them away if you wanted.” She’d made you this offer before but you had refused it then and you were going to refuse it now.
“No, thanks though. I need those memories to keep me sharp, help keep me alive.”
“I thought that’s what you had me for,” she teased.
You smiled. “My defibrillator?”
Ana scoffed. “I still can’t believe you called me that.”
“You called yourself that. I said you were my backup generator.”
“Same thing.”
You lifted your head and shot her a look. “Hardly.”
She smiled and you couldn’t help but study her. Remembering the kiss earlier, you knew she cared for you more than the average human (any other human really) but you never thought in a million years that she could possibly have feelings…like that. She was an angel and you were only human after all. Didn’t Cas say once that his true form was the size of a Chrysler building and that humans were mere ants to angels? How did the Chrysler building feel anything for an ant?
You remembered seeing Ana’s face for the first time through a haze of pain. She had stared down at you as she started to heal you, her lips parted in shock before they pressed together in determination. You thought back to her insistence that you take her up on her offer of a soul deal to get what you wanted, assuring you that demon deals were a nasty, messy business that you definitely had to read the fine print on before you signed. And the one thing you hadn’t told Dean is that when Ana brought you back after the witch killed you, her mark was no longer on your soul. When you died, your soul had gone to her as per the deal you’d made, but once you were back inside your body, breathing again, your soul was your own. So her whole line of wanting to make sure you both got what you wanted out of the deal had been complete bullshit. Something you didn’t find out until later on, when she reamed you out for almost dying again on another hunt: a dark entity in an abandoned asylum outside of Chicago. By that time, you trusted Ana enough to make another deal with her. If something happened to you, you trusted that she would keep your soul safe until she revived you or otherwise. What that otherwise was you couldn’t be sure, but you trusted her implicitly to look out for you. Something she had been doing ever since you crossed each other’s paths.
Things suddenly became so clear to you, almost as if you had been trying to see out of a foggy window but no matter how much you rubbed at it or turned the defroster on, it never cleared…until now.
Her smile faded slightly when you leaned in and gently brushed your lips against hers, pulling back to see what she would do. Another lightning flash lit up the room and you could see her glancing back and forth between you and your mouth, leaning in slowly. You met her halfway and a light fluttery feeling bloomed in your chest when you connected and this time it was more than just a brush of lips. You turned your body slightly towards her and cupped her cheek, taking control of the kiss. It surprised you a little but it felt like you were kissing someone who was inexperienced. You couldn’t tell if it had to do with you being a woman or a human, and she was holding back either way, or if she had never truly done this before. Regardless, you looked forward to finding out.
She began to mimic your movements and the kiss grew more passionate. You realized that you wanted more of the kiss, more of her. You reached up and began to slowly unbutton her Mulberry silk blouse (as she’d told you so many times before when warning you not to get it dirty if you opened something near her) but her hand covered yours, stopping you.
You broke away from her, your brows drawn together. “What?”
She trailed fingertips from your cheek down to your lips, intently studying you.
“Ana?”
Her eyes met yours. “You need sleep so you can drive in the morning. I said we would be okay staying here tonight, but once morning hits, we need to leave.” You went to protest when she shook her head. “Once we’re far enough away, we’ll have plenty of time for this. But for now, sleep.”
You wanted to argue that Chuck could soon end all life as you knew it so there was no time like the present but this was also new to you. You’d never been with a woman before, never mind an angel. What were the rules? How did it go? Being with Dean, you’d seen some porn in your time so you vaguely had an idea how it went with women, but nothing concrete. You’d only ever been with Dean and a few other guys after all. But an angel inside a female human vessel…and a female human…put point blank, how the hell did that work?
So, you didn’t push and instead, nodded your agreement. Ana got off the bed and you laid back down, settling the sheets over you once more. She took a seat next to you, sitting against the headboard, and began to gently brush your hair back with her hand. You had always wondered why she always seemed to be touching you or caressing you when you two were alone (and she wasn’t miffed at you); now you knew why. It wasn’t long before your eyes started to close and you began to drift off, hoping you wouldn’t go straight back into a nightmare. Thankfully, the thunder seemed to be moving away from your location.
Almost as if she heard your thoughts, Ana murmured, “Sleep. I’ll keep you safe.”
You nearly smiled at her words. You never told her this because not only would she have gotten offended but she would’ve denied it to the ground, but most times, you almost felt like you had a guardian angel watching over you. A guardian angel that dressed better than most humans and would kill for a top of the line Hermes handbag (and you meant that literally). Who gave you dirty looks and a hard time most days, but a guardian nonetheless. Now, you weren’t quite sure what she would be to you. You were now glad she had stopped you before. You both had some things to figure out and a discussion should be had whenever you got to where you were going next, but regardless, one thing was for sure: you knew she would keep you safe.

A/N: I know Cas had to stick his hand inside a human's chest to be able to read the marks of an angel on the bones of that human, but I decided to adjust it for fic purposes. I initially was going to do something similar to the handprint but I liked this idea better.

A Place To Call Home: Redux
Tumblr media
Summary: In this special part of APTCH, we're going way back. What if things went differently? What if the reader was removed from the Ackles home after only a few months? What if she blamed them for letting her go? What if she found out the truth about her birth parents from the start? What exactly would that do to this father/daughter duo's bond and would it be able to be salvaged? Find out in this special AU from the main APTCH timeline!
Masterlist
Pairing: Jensen x foster daughter!reader
Word Count: 16,600ish
Warnings: language, angst, mentions of prior abuse (not descriptive), family drama, all the tears
A/N: When I wanted to return to the APTCH world, I've always had this idea of what if the reader hadn't known the full truth about her parents accident? What if she'd been forced to leave? This is strictly a one-off AU part where I got to explore the answers to those questions and see new sides to everyone.
This part takes place during Part 4 of APTCH. This part starts with some text from that italicized before divulging into the story. I can't wait to hear your thoughts! Please enjoy!

Two Months Later
“Y/N?” asked Zeppelin. You lifted your head up from where you were laying in the grass in the backyard, staring up at the sky. “Cole’s here.”
You looked past him, seeing Cole walk down the slope of the yard with Jensen, Danneel playing with the girls, a nervous look on her face.
“Go back to mommy, Zepp,” you said, Zepp running past Cole and Jensen, Jensen’s face hard. You saw another set of people walk down the yard, a police officer and a woman from Cole’s office you recognized. You instantly stood up, Jensen staring at the ground when he and Cole stopped in front of you. “Cole, why are you here? With them?”
“You know why,” he said.
“Look at me,” you barked at Jensen, his head whipping up. “Did you-”
“No. Kiddo, no. We got a call this morning that said we failed our last check in,” said Jensen. “I’m so sorry.”
“I’m not leaving,” you said, Cole sighing. “You’re going to have to drag me out of here.”
“I don’t agree with the failed check in. They’ve done nothing wrong and you’re like a different person, Y/N. I petitioned for you to stay. But their foster parent privileges are going to be revoked,” said Cole.
“I want to see the failed check in. I can request to see my file. I know I can,” you said.
“Inappropriate relationship with a foster child was cited as a cause,” said Cole.
“Who had final sign off?” you said. “I sure as shit know you know neither one of them are inappropriate with me.”
“I signed off,” said the woman as she walked over, Jensen shooting her a quick glare. “This publicity stunt for the Ackles is over. It was tolerated but there is evidence of Jensen becoming too physically close.”
“Excuse me?” you said.
“His recent postings on Instagram show you two in a suggestive position,” she said. “When you were seated on his lap.”
“Excuse me?” you said again. “I was holding Zepp in my lap too. It wasn’t inappropriate. Cole, do something.”
He took your arm and pulled you aside, letting out a sigh. “Y/N. I know it wasn’t. Anyone with half a brain can see that but Mrs. Keller has the power to move any foster and she wants you moved. I promise I’ll do what I can to get you back here as soon as I can. I-”
You stared over at where Danneel sat with the kids, eyes on you, gaze shifting to where Jensen was arguing with Mrs. Keller.
“Did they give me up Cole?” you asked quietly. “Did the Ackles-”
“No. At least not that I know of. But Mrs. Keller is saying they failed a check-in.”
“They’re going to lose their license to foster,” you said. He nodded. “But they have money. They can fight it if they want-”
“Sweetie, you’ll turn eighteen before it was settled legally. The state will fight back and it’ll get drawn out. I can’t believe I’m saying this but you’re probably better off…sticking it out in whatever home you get placed in and when you’re eighteen, you could come back here-”
“Assuming they actually wanted me. They have so much money, Cole. If they really wanted me…they wouldn’t let me go,” you whispered. “How do you know they didn’t turn me in behind your back? How do you know?”
Cole was quiet, closing his eyes.
“See? You don’t know for sure. I bet they didn’t fail a check-in. It’s just their way of getting rid of me and saving face.” You glared at Jensen when he turned his head in your direction. “If you didn’t want me, at least have the balls to say it to my face!”
Cole sighed as you stormed inside the house. Fuck those people. Fuck Jensen especially. He was so full of shit. You knew, you knew, this whole thing was a sham from the start. All he ever wanted was to show what a wonderful person he was to the world and once that was done, he was dumping your ass.
You slammed your bedroom door shut, locking it behind you. He was going to come in there and try to bullshit you some more. Him or Dee. But you weren’t falling for it again. No, you were packing up your shit and getting the fuck out of there for good.
Jensen was standing there when you ripped open the door five minutes later but you simply shoved past him for the bathroom. “Y/N-”
“Don’t say a fucking word to me,” you snapped. You swept the few products you had into a small bag, hoping it would hold you over for awhile. Quickly, you got it inside your duffel bag, Jensen reaching out for you when you stepped into the hallway. He was smart enough to pull his hand back though before he could touch you. “Move.”
“We didn’t do this,” he said, a harsh edge to his voice. “Y/N, I swear to god we want you to stay. This is killing me.”
“I never should have trusted you,” you said, pushing on his shoulder, Jensen closing his eyes. “I-I trusted you. I thought you cared about me. I thought you might have actually wanted to be my…I knew you were just acting. I fucking knew I was a pawn for you in your fancy little life. I can’t believe I fell for it.”
“That is not true and deep down you know it,” he said. You rolled your eyes, brushing past him. “Y/N, Y/N stop-”
“You’re not my foster dad anymore. I don’t have to do a thing you say,” you called back.
“You are my daughter.” You stopped in your tracks, looking over your shoulder. His jaw was clenched, eyes full of worry. “And I’m your dad. I will bring you back home, understand me? We will find a way to get you back home to your family, no matter how long it takes.”
“I’m eighteen in nine months, Jensen. I’m getting the fuck out of this shitty system the moment I can and when I do? You come near me again and I’ll call the cops on you myself. Am I clear?” He shook his head, getting closer.
“We’ll earn it back,” he said, lifting his chin. “I’ll earn it back. Your trust. Your love because I know you loved us and just couldn’t say it. So we’ll start from scratch, less than scratch if we have to. Hate me and hate Dee. Do what you need to these next nine months to survive because I know you can do it. I fucking know you can. The second you are out of this system that keeps hurting you, I will be there and I will bring you home, understand? I will call you, text you, facetime you everyday. We are not through, okay? We-”
You ripped your phone from your pocket, tossing it on the ground, watching the screen shatter. You shook your head, adjusting the strap on your shoulder.
“No more lies, Jensen. Stay the hell away from me.”
“At least say goodbye to the kids,” he said when you started to walk for the front door. “Y/N!”
“They’ll be fine. Better to learn young how much the world sucks.”
“Y/N-”
You flipped him the bird as you left, finding Cole leaning against the hood of his car. “So where the hell am I staying tonight?”
“They deserve a proper goodbye,” he said, nodding around to the backyard.
“The twins will forget I exist in six months and JJ will too in a few years. Let’s go,” you said, opening his backseat and tossing your duffel inside. Cole gave you that look, his disappointed one you so rarely saw from him, before you got in the passenger seat.
“The Ackles are good people. I’ll find out-”
“Cole. Please just stop,” you said, leaning your head against the glass. You jerked it upright when you saw Jensen and Danneel step outside the front door, looking like deer caught in headlights. “Take me to house fifteen.”
“Y/N-”
“Get me away from here. Now.”
The Next Day
“Hey,” said Cole as you leaned against the post of the car port at the new foster home. “How’s it going so far?”
You gave him your best bitch face, Cole nodding. “It’s fine.”
“Be careful of this guy. I’ve heard rumors of physical abuse but no proof and no kid would ever say anything. Lock the door at night or better yet, push the dresser in front of it.” You looked past him to the crappy house across the street. “I’m serious.”
“And I’m serious about getting emancipated.”
“This shit again? You do not have a job, Y/N-”
“I got my working papers from my new high school earlier. There’s no other kids here for me to look out for so when i’m not in school, I’ll be working.” He sighed. “Cole-”
“You can’t access your parents assets until you’re older. If…if you could, maybe we could make it work but-”
“Then get me access,” you growled. He narrowed his eyes, pointing a finger in your face.
“I fucking tried,” he said. “Do not treat me like the bad guy, Y/N. I have always tried to get you into good homes with good people and I really, really looked into emancipation for you. But you are a ward of the state and the state won’t admit they’re a shitty parent no matter how true it is.”
You crossed your arms, lips pursed. “Then line up the paperwork so that the day I turn eighteen, I’m out of the system.”
“This guy will kick you out of the house the second you age out. You’ll be homeless if you choose to leave.”
“Well that’s my problem, isn’t it? I’ll spend from now until then working my ass off and saving up. I’ll only have five months of high school left after that. I can bounce around shelters until I graduate-”
“Are you listening to yourself?” scoffed Cole. “I am not letting you be homeless.”
You rolled your eyes, Cole stepping closer.
“Your stubbornness made you a survivor and some days I am grateful for it because I know there’s shit that happened to you that you won’t even admit to me. I know you could do it all on your own if you had to. But I haven’t worked my ass off since you were ten fucking years old for you to give up.”
“I am not giving up. I’m growing up. I’m turning eighteen and getting the fuck out of this fucked up town and maybe I’ll find some people with a shred of decency. You never fucking did,” you balked. You walked away, putting your back to him. You heard him behind you, felt him stop close by as you scrunched up your face.
“That family loves you. I have had fosters get adopted by families before and see those connections. Well, I have some news for you. Jensen and Danneel? Kid, they are the best kind of person for you. You are not their foster daughter to them. You are not the potential adoptee. You are not the girl with different parents. You were not made by them but you are theirs and they love you as if you were their blood.”
“It’s a fucking act, Cole. Don’t you fall for it-” you said, spinning around, cutting yourself off when he handed you a dark green iphone.
“I could lose my job for this,” he said, shoving it into your hands. “You don’t have to speak to them but they want…they need you to know that you can always call on them and they will come. When you turn eighteen, they’ll be here if that’s what you decide.”
“Cole.” He shook his head. “They threw me away!”
“I don’t know what happened but I’d bet my fucking life they had nothing to do with this. When I checked on them this morning, they begged me to get their daughter back. Begged, Y/N. You want to grow up? Then trust your heart for once. They will come back for you if you let them. Give them a chance to.”
You frowned, Cole giving you one.
“Do you need anything?” he asked. You shook your head, kicking your foot against the ground. “Stay safe, kiddo. Put in one of those anonymous calls you like to do if this guy tries anything.”
“Anyone ever tell you how annoying you are?” you called as he headed for the inside of the house.
“Give them a chance, kiddo.”
You laid in bed that night, your new phone vibrating from where you hid it under your pillow from your new foster dad, aka Mac, aka the asshole. You’d been at two other homes before with a single dad and neither had been good. They’d done it just for the extra money and you’d never felt comfortable at either. But back then you were much younger, only a kid and a pre-teen and there’d been other kids around.
Now it was a seventeen year old you alone with a sketchy at best guy in his late forties. You glanced at the chair you’d propped under the door handle, sighing. You’d gotten too used to not being cautious with the Ackles. You were going to need to make sure you spent as little time as possible in this house.
You grabbed the phone, pouting at the text that came up.
Jensen: I know you hate me and Dee. We’re fighting this failed check in bullshit but the lawyer was honest with us. There’s no guarantee we win the appeal. But no matter what, we’ll be there when you need us, whether we’re your foster parents or not. We’re not supposed to contact you but we need you to know you’re not alone. We are here for you everyday. We are going to do everything we can to bring you home as soon as we can. No matter what happens, the second you’re eighteen, I’ll be there to get you. I understand if you don’t want to answer me. Be safe. We love you, tall munchkin.
“No you fucking don’t,” you mumbled, turning the phone off before hiding it again. “Please just leave me alone.”
Three Months Later
“Hey Andrea?” you asked on a late Friday afternoon. Your boss from the restaurant and bar you worked at grunted from her back office. “I finish up with school next Tuesday and was wondering if I could get more hours for the summer?”
“More hours?” she asked, lifting her head up. “Don’t you have another job?”
“Yeah but I like this job better,” you said, giving her a friendly smile.
“You like this job better because I pay you under the table.”
“It works for me, it works for you…come on, you know I’m a good server,” you said. She frowned but sighed.
“I can bump you up to twenty five hours but that’s it.” You grinned, Andrea rolling her eyes. “Go grab some lunch and get out of here.”
“You’re the best,” you said on your way out. After bringing out a bag of trash to the dumpster, you washed up and got the chef to whip you up an extra large chicken wrap with a side of mac and cheese. You got a free meal for each shift and it’d helped immensely considering how Mac hardly ever kept any food in the house. Almost all his meals came from take out or going out with his friends. Between your two restaurant jobs thankfully you were able to not be hungry most days.
You packed up the food in a container and walked a few blocks down to a park, finding your usual bench before digging in.
“Y/N!” You jumped in your seat, spilling your late lunch on the ground. You growled as a figure appeared before you. You glared up at a sweaty Jensen, his face red as he put his hands on his hips. “I missed you at work and tried to catch up but I couldn’t find parking and never mind but I-”
“You made me drop my food,” you snapped. He looked down at your feet, a wince on his face.
“I’m sorry. We can go get something-”
“You give me twenty bucks and then get the fuck away from me or I swear I’ll start screaming.” He blinked at you, his breathing slowing down. “Jensen, I am serious.”
“I…Y/N we won the appeal. You can come home,” he said. You narrowed your eyes, his head cocking. “I know you blocked our numbers but Y/N a lot has happened. Cole’s on his way over to pick you up and take you to a private session with the district attorney and some people from the state’s office. I can’t be in the room but-”
“You just don’t stop, do you?” you scoffed, standing. You pushed on his chest, Jensen taking a step back. “News flash, I don’t want to go anywhere with you ever again.”
“Y/N, we didn’t get rid of you,” he breathed out. “We’ve been working on getting you back home every single day.”
“Stop lying to me!” you shouted, your face scrunching up. “I’m just something for you to prop yourself up with. Look how amazing we are, taking in a poor little orphan girl. If you gave a shit about me, you wouldn’t have let it happen in the first place.”
A part of you knew you were being unreasonable but you’d been on your own for three months and you knew the only person you could rely on was yourself. Jensen hid the hurt on his face quickly, replacing it with a neutral expression.
“You can hate me. You can hate me for as long as you like. But you are coming home to us after you sort things out with Cole. We are your foster family again and someday you’ll be able to admit that you know you’re just lashing out because you’re angry. Because we will be there for you after the fact. Because we love you and care about you and deep down in places you don’t like to admit exist, you might even care about us too.”
“I will never care about you again,” you whispered. “And I will never, ever, trust you.”
Jensen stepped closer, staring you down, his jaw clenched. “I guess I’ll just have to prove you wrong again.”
“Good fucking luck with that.” You sat down, crossing your arms. “You can go.”
“Once Cole gets here.” You flipped him off, Jensen taking a seat on the bench across the path, sighing as he went. “Please try to remember that I love you.”
You didn’t respond. Maybe he really did love you. Maybe you really were just angry after he let you get taken. But there was nothing he could say you wanted to hear.
You still hurt too much.
Four Hours Later
You knew people were talking around you. Lawyers. People from the state department. The head of foster care for the state. FBI agents. District attorneys and half of the local foster care office.
Cole sat by your side at the far end of the table, arguing with someone on the other side. The voices were loud, blame being passed around. Threats of lawsuits were in every other word. So many people, so many strangers shouting about your life like you weren’t even there.
You stood up, catching Cole’s attention first but slowly the others took notice, so many pairs of eyes on your numb face.
“What is it, Y/N?” Cole asked, rising to his feet beside you. You blinked slowly, scanning the room once.
“I don’t care about Mrs. Keller and that she blamed my parents for her son’s death in the car accident. I don’t care that my parents didn’t die in the accident and went into witness protection and then didn’t or whatever the fuck they did. I don’t care that they gave me up and that state, you people, are my guardian. I don’t give a shit that none of you realized or that those who did cared more about your fucking case than a ten year old girl. I don’t care that my parents never wanted me and they don’t a shit about me. I don’t care, I don’t fucking care so stop fucking yelling. Please.”
Thirty different sets of eyes stared at you, a heavy guilt settling in the air.
“I’m not a pawn in your blame games. I’m a person who’s life you fucked up. I won’t sue you. I don’t care about that shit. All I want is to go home to the Ackles. I want to stay with them and if they ever decide they want to adopt me, you’re going to approve it on the spot. No dragging it out for months or years. They get it that day. Understand?”
You saw the head of foster care nod, your eyes closing.
“If you people have nothing else to say to me, can I please go home?” There was a quiet murmur and then you felt Cole’s arm around your shoulders.
“Yeah, it’s been a long day. Let’s get you home, Y/N.”
Cole grabbed you some fast food on the way to the Ackles house, your house, but you had no appetite. You’d felt a lot of things in life but this…dejection, was something entirely new. You were so numb you couldn’t even cry.
No one in your life had ever wanted you. Not a single soul. Except for the family you’d pushed away, yelled at, been cruel to.
There was no way they’d want you after all that. Why would they? You were so fucked up, no one ever would.
“Y/N. Y/N!” shouted Cole. You blinked, his car parked in the Ackles driveway. “Jesus, are you with me?”
“I’m just tired, Cole,” you whispered. You slid out of the car, Cole grabbing your duffel from the backseat. You barely made it to the cover of the front porch before the door opened and you saw Jensen and Danneel come out.
“Hey guys,” said Cole quietly, setting your duffel on the table, your gaze drifting past them, looking out to the dark water of the river beyond. “She’s…had a long day.”
“Hey, kiddo,” said Jensen but you didn’t look at him, a cold creeping feeling settling through your bones. You knew they were exchanging looks with Cole, a heavy sigh coming from him.
“Be gentle,” you heard him murmur. “Get her back in therapy asap.”
“Are you hungry? I can make you something,” said Danneel as you stared outside. “Y/N?”
“No thank you,” you said, voice flat, picking up your duffel and taking the bag of food. “All I want to do is eat this, take a shower and go to bed.”
“Your room’s all set, honey,” said Jensen, letting you slip past him. You slowed your steps when you felt their stares on your back. But it wasn’t them that made you come to stop. No, it was the picture on the wall next to the hallway to your room that caught your attention. It’d been some professional picture before, one from when the twins were newborns and the rest of them.
Now it housed a photo you remember not feeling like you should have been part of. Jenen’s arm was around your shoulders, the other holding up Arrow. Zep was in Dee’s arms while JJ stood in front of you with a big grin. You remembered taking it at Jensen’s birthday party a few days before you’d left, trying your hardest to stay out of the family photos but he kept finding you every time you tried to run away.
And you’d thought they’d betrayed you.
You took off down the hall, closing your bedroom door quickly behind you. The room didn’t smell like cleaner yet it was which meant they were in the habit of regularly dusting it. There wasn’t anything out of the ordinary in there except for Dee’s blanket you’d stolen a long time ago and a hoodie of Jensen’s you’d worn a few times when it’d gotten a tad too cold out at night for you.
You sighed when you picked up the framed drawing on your desk of the family, JJ’s judging by the quality but you could see where the twins had gotten their hands on it. You had to put it down and flip it over when you saw she’d put you in it.
You pushed away the rising bile in your throat and forced yourself to eat part of the burger so there was at least something in your stomach. After chucking the leftovers in the garage, you took a long shower, a basket full of new products waiting for you on the counter.
Fucking considerate assholes. Why did you have to be such a bitch to them? They never gave you up and…
“It’ll never go back to how it was,” you whispered to yourself. You ducked your head under the water and turned it cold, trying to figure out what the hell you were supposed to do.
You were finally back home with people that wanted you. Had wanted you at least. But now? Who knew if they’d let you in all the way again?
Who knew if you’d ever forgive yourself for hurting them. Maybe you’d been the asshole all along. Maybe you were never a good kid and everyone saw it but you.
You slammed the water off and dressed in a pair of pajama shorts and an oversized shirt, throwing Jensen’s hoodie on when you were back in your room to help with the chill you’d self-inflicted. It warmed you some but a faint whiff of his cologne came off the fabric, your gut churning once more. With a sigh, you sat down on the edge of the bed, staring out your dark window. To your surprise, and you were grateful for it, no one came to talk to you. It seemed like a long time but eventually you heard Cole’s car drive off and saw the front lights dim. The house was quiet. Still.
It was after ten and you had the sense that Jensen and Danneel had retreated to the confines of their bedroom to talk about you in hushed whispers.
You tried to lay down but no matter how exhausted you were, sleep wouldn’t come. Your brain couldn’t turn off, couldn’t relax. For hours and hours the same questions kept running through your mind.
Why hadn’t your birth parents given you up for adoption when you were young? Why hadn’t they planned it better with their FBI handler? Why’d the FBI just let them go when they ran off? Why had no one put it together about Mrs. Keller’s son being killed in the accident? What was so wrong with you no one wanted you?
Were you even capable of knowing what love felt like?
You bolted out of bed, storming out of your room and down the hall. Fuck, you needed air. You went out on the back porch, standing in the dark and watching the dark waves in the distance, the scattered lights along the houses on the opposite side of the river.
“I can’t sleep either.” You didn’t turn but felt Jensen come to stand beside you, a glass of water in hand. “You get any at all tonight?”
You shook your head, Jensen offering the water to you. You slowly took it, drinking the cold liquid down in big gulps. When you handed him the glass, he set it down on the outdoor table before returning to lean his forearms against the railing.
God, he looked fucking…sad.
“S’funny.” You glanced up at his dark face, his focus on the backyard, eyes glancing up at the few bright stars poking through overhead.
“What is?” you said, a strange lack of emotion in your voice that should have concerned you but you were too tired to care. Jensen heard it though, looking you up and down.
“How cruel the world can be to a perfectly innocent kid.”
“Plenty worse could have happened to me,” you said, a frown forming on his face. His brow furrowed, eyes searching yours.
“And what exactly does that mean?” he asked, his jaw clenching. You shrugged, gaze back on a few waves that peaked up and sloshed back down. “Y/N.”
“It means in retrospect for what did happen to me, much worse things could have. It’s not that big a deal.”
“Your birth parents abandoned you in the forest during fucking bear season. They admitted-”
“Nothing happened.” He audibly growled, clenching his fists on the railing. “It’s fine.”
“No,” he said, taking you by both your arms and leaning down, face hard. “No, none of it was fine. You were hurt and abused and you will not brush this under the rug. You are not alright. My Y/N is fighter. She’s a ball of spitfire and doesn’t back down from a fight. Even on her worst days, she’s got a spark in her. Don’t lose that, tall munchkin. Don’t.”
“I’m done fighting, Jensen. I give up. I don’t care anymore. I just don’t care.”
“Care about what?” he asked quietly.
“Anything. Just get me through high school and then I’ll move to the middle of nowhere where no one will have to remember I ever exist.” He dropped his head, breathing deeply. “Jensen, it’s fine-”
“Don’t…” he trailed off, his fingertips digging into your biceps ever so slightly. He slowly raised his head, his face somber. “Honey…you may never trust me again or believe me again and I shouldn’t say this but I get it. I fucking get why you might never trust anyone to be a parent to you ever again. But Y/N, I can never forget your exist. You’re one of my reasons for living and when you talk like that you scare me. Shit, you have no idea how much it scares me to know you hurt so much and I can’t fix it. You don’t know what I’d give for that version of you at the park who hated my guts right now. She was fighting. I need you to keep fighting. Don’t give up on me yet because I sure as shit will never give up on you, even when you do.”
You glanced down, nodding a few times. You felt him straighten and clear his throat, his hands rubbing gently up and down your arms.
“You know what’s sad? You’re the first person in my life that ever loved me,” you said, gaze fixated on the tile floor beneath you. “I treat you like shit and now I don’t even know how to feel anything anymore. I don’t understand at all how someone like you could love someone like me.”
“It is sad,” he said quietly, stroking his thumb over your cheek. “You deserved better. You deserved love long before now. But I will gladly be the first person to love you. Dads are like that.”
“Jensen,” you sighed, his hand dropping to under your jaw. You glanced up, a sad smile on his face.
“I know. Like I said, Dee and I will be whatever you need us to be. Parents. Friends. We can simply be a safe place for you. But whatever you decide, you don’t get to decide what you are to me, understand?” He rubbed your arms when you just stared at him. “Okay?”
“W-What am I to you?” you whispered. He tilted his head, sighing softly.
“Oh, you know, baby girl.” He pulled you into a hug, a tight embrace where you found yourself burrowing into his chest, clinging to his t-shirt. “I know it hurts and it’s so much easier not to feel it. I know. But I’m here. Mom’s here. You don’t have to face it alone. You’ll never be alone again.”
“I can’t…” you mumbled, breathing deeply, large hands holding you close. “You don’t understand how this feels. No one wants me. No one. It doesn’t matter how many times you say it, I just…I can’t believe you Jensen. It’ll kill me when you hurt me too.”
“What’s my job?” he whispered before kissing the top of your head. “What’d I tell you on that freezing cold road back in December in the rain? What’d I tell you my job is?”
You squeezed his shirt so hard you felt it straining, his hand running up and down your back. “Come on, kiddo. What’s my job?”
“Protect,” you whispered.
“That’s right,” he said, letting out a heavy sigh. “I haven’t done a very good job of that so far but it is my job. That’s what dads do. So let me do my job and you…you be as brave and strong as I know you are and give me a chance. Give me a chance to prove I love you, to know you are loved by this whole family and that…that…”
You glanced up, his face scrunched up, eyes opening as he sensed your gaze. He tucked your hair behind your ear, shoulders sagging.
“That what, Jensen?” you asked. He looked over your head, a sad little smile growing on his face.
“That I didn’t betray you. That every day you have been gone has been the darkest moment of my life. I need my daughter back.”
“I don’t know if I can do that. I’m sorry,” you said. You slipped past him, feeling his gaze on your back. You swallowed, looking down. “I just don’t know if I can ever care about you again. Please don’t hate me for that.”
“I could never hate you, tall munchkin.” You felt a hand on your back, your head lifting but you didn’t turn. “All I’m asking for is one more chance. I’m asking you to try one more time for me. Try to give us a chance.”
“I’m sorry, Jensen. I don’t think I can.”
You went inside before he could say a word but you felt his response when he dropped his hand.
You were breaking his heart. And the worst part, the scary part, was you felt nothing about doing so.
Twelve Hours Later
“I’m sorry, what was that word?” asked Danneel. You picked at a stray thread on a pillow in the family room. You didn’t completely understand why you were having this “emergency” session or whatever it was at home but you guessed it had something to do with that it was Sunday and just about every adult in your life was staring at you like you had three heads.
“It’s called Alexithymia. It’s a condition that can happen for a variety of reasons. In Y/N’s case, PTSD is causing it,” said your therapist. You’d spent the better part of the morning getting reacquainted with him on your own, with Dee, Jensen, all three of you together. You’d barely gotten more than two hours of sleep and honestly couldn’t give a crap about anything this guy said.
“But Y/N was diagnosed with PTSD before and didn't have this condition,” said Jensen. That peaked your attention, your finger raising. Jensen and Danneel shared a look from the far end of the couch, your therapist sighing.
“I don’t have PTSD, thank you very much.” Jensen scoffed. “If I had it, you would have had to tell me, dumbass.”
“It was not an official diagnosis previously but that’s irrelevant,” said the therapist. “The trauma Y/N endured last night and during the period she was removed from your home, even the removal from your home triggered-“
“It wasn’t fucking trauma and I wasn’t fucking triggered,” you snapped. “I am tired. I am just fucking tired from working so much and dealing with so much bullshit. I had two hours of sleep last night so of course I’m having a bad day. On a normal day, I’m fine.”
“What is this condition?” asked Dee, ignoring you. You rolled your eyes and would have simply left the room if not for Cole standing near the exit like a damn security guard. Apparently you weren’t being reasonable enough for them when you told them to take their therapist visit and shove it up their asses.
“It’s when someone has a hard time understanding the emotions they’re feeling or rather feeling or displaying an emotion at all. In Y/N’s case, based on what I’ve seen this morning, she’s primarily having a difficult time feeling her emotions.”
You flipped him off. “Does it feel like I’m having a hard time understanding my emotions?”
“Do I look like a fucking idiot?” His comment was strange for him. He never swore and was always level headed. “That’s a perfect example. Y/N knows I don’t swear yet there was zero emotion on her face whereas the rest of you were hiding your reactions. Y/N is a very smart girl who is very afraid of getting labeled with something because deep down she fears it makes her unlovable. And that we know for a fact from our previous sessions.”
You crossed your arms and sat back, glancing out the window, trying to calm down. Jensen cleared his throat. “So, uh, what does all this mean exactly?”
“It means you could put a puppy in front of her and she will react the same way as if you set the house on fire. She’s in pain, pain at a very fundamental level of her core. Her head right now is saying it can’t take more pain. It can’t deal with the pain,” said the therapist. “So her brain tells her I can keep you safe from the pain if you just don’t feel. You don’t have to feel those awful feelings if you don’t feel anything at all.”
“Yeah, cause that sounds like a normal reaction to have,” you mumbled. You turned towards Jensen and Danneel, their gaze shooting to you. “Do you seriously believe this crap? Jesus, I feel shit. Do I look like someone that doesn’t? This guy is so full of shit. He’s a fucking family doctor way out of his league and making crap up.”
Danneel bit her bottom lip, working it between her teeth worriedly. Jensen looked away.
“How do we help Y/N feel like herself again?” Jensen asked, ignoring your scoff.
“We work through the pain. She’s going to hate it. She’s going to hate all of us for a good while. We address the trauma endured and, eventually, her head will accept the emotions back. Most likely after something happens like a minor scare or a holiday or something where heightened emotion occurs. She protected herself in that conference room by retreating inward when she felt alone. We’ll make sure she knows she’s not.”
“Or…” you said, standing up. “Maybe this is a waste of time. Honestly? I couldn’t give a shit about what you think. People suck. That’s life. Just get my through the next six months until I’m eighteen and then it doesn’t matter what any of you want.”
You left and retreated to your room, quiet murmurs coming from down the hall. What was their problem? Just because you wanted to keep your distance you suddenly had a problem they were going to try and fix?
“Fuck this.” You went to the closet and grabbed your duffel, throwing it over your shoulder.
But for some reason you couldn’t bring yourself to move. You tensed when a hand lifted it off your shoulder and set it back in the closet. You swallowed when Jensen sighed, looking down at you.
“Listen. I don’t agree with what he said.”
Your eyebrows shot up. “You don’t?”
“No. Because you’re pissed and I know my daughter. You don’t have whatever the thing is he said. Trauma? Sure. But you always have had that.” He put a hand on your head, ruffling your hair. “Don’t worry about it.”
“You aren’t going to make me like, see him extra or some crap?” He shook his head. “Really?”
“Really. We go back to once a week but nothing else. I know this isn’t something therapy will help with.” You frowned. Jensen shrugged, leaning back against the wall. “No, I realized last night the only way we fix this is with time. So we put in the effort and eventually, that wall will come down. I can wait.”
“Uh, thanks,” you said, rubbing your arm. “I’m really surprised you’re not siding with the doctor.”
“Tall munchkin.” You hated how those two words made your heart squeeze. You bit the inside of your cheek as he sighed. “He is an excellent family doctor but you had a point. He doesn’t know trauma. We’ll find someone better suited to help you. He’s going off a text book definition right now. I damn well know you feel things, you just don’t want to care about us right now. You’re still in shock, just like the rest of us. Let me and Dee figure out the therapist and you just…”
“Just what?” you mumbled. He titled his head, smiling sadly.
“Just be a fucking kid. Go play with the little kids. Spend the summer hanging out with your old friends because news flash, those girls miss you. Trust me, they text us at least once a week asking if we’ve heard from you cause apparently you’re radio silent when they reach out.”
You glanced down before taking a seat at the end of the bed. “I don’t want to be the girl they pity so they let me hang out with them.”
“Y/N,” he chided, sitting next to you. “I know you didn’t know them for very long but I thought those girls were your friends. I didn’t realize they treated you-”
“They didn’t,” you interjected. You rubbed your palm with your thumb, closing your eyes. “I just worried…I worried they didn’t actually like me and felt sorry for me. I’ve always been scared of getting close to anyone so it didn’t hurt when they fucked me over.”
You pressed your thumb in harder when you felt your skin prickle. Your face scrunched up, Jensen shifting beside you.
“I realize now that my birth parents weren’t all that much better than some of my fosters. I just always thought they were strict. Firm but it came from a good place. I was a good kid, after all. Even after I thought they were gone I was still good like they taught me to be.” You grabbed your thighs, gripping them both hard. “They taught me to be obedient and afraid of messing up. I needed to be perfect. Always fucking perfect even when I thought they were dead. I had to be perfect for them. Perfect grades. Well-behaved. I was perfect and they still didn’t want me.”
You turned to Jensen, green guarded eyes carefully looking back. “Jensen, I think you’re a good person and Dee too. But I don’t know how to be a kid. I don’t know how to not think everyone hates me because everyone always has. I’m seventeen years old. I’m too broken to be fixed. We’re better off just saving everyone the trouble and-”
“Can we stop with the bullshit?” You stopped mid sentence, jaw hung open. Meanwhile Jensen shook his head in annoyance. “You ain’t perfect and you never have been. You’ve got a mouth and a stubborn streak and you have never in your life been afraid to give it right back to me. You know what that is? It’s called being a teenager. Broken? Here’s something for you perfect child, you’re grounded for letting those assholes keep winning.”
“What? I have work-”
“You can go to work but I’m having a serious discussion with your managers about the hours you’re keeping which is super illegal for a minor by the way,” he said as he stood, crossing his arms when you glared back. “Be pissed off all you want. I can work with pissed off.”
“I didn’t do anything!” you said, getting up when he started to leave. “Jensen!”
He turned around, his eyes narrowed. “You do not get to let these people have control over you anymore. Fuck every single one of them. You have no idea how amazing you are. How full of love and care you are. In places you don’t want to admit, you know this family loves you. You know your friends care about you, miss you. You aren’t going to sit in this room and wallow about how much life sucks.”
“Jensen, that’s not fair-”
“You promised me you’d try for me,” he said, your jaw snapping shut. “You do not need to succeed but you will always try your best and this girl? Miss I’m too broken? My daughter is better than that. You fail after you try? Fine. But you aren’t trying so you don’t get to quit on this family yet. Understand?”
“But…” He raised an eyebrow, waiting for you to continue. You looked around the room, your pulse quickening. “You can’t make me. Last night you said I didn’t have to…you said-”
“I know what I said.” He raised his chin, dread curling in your gut. “But you will try.”
“I don’t want any of you!” you shouted, clenching your hands into fists by your sides. “Why won’t you leave me the fuck alone!”
He looked you up and down, a steadiness to him that unnerved you, some of your anger fading. “You can give up on yourself if that’s what you want to do. But I never will.”
“Why do you even-”
“Because that is what dads do, Y/N. I know you don’t understand everything a dad is supposed to do. I get it. I will show you. Dee will show you what a mom does. We will show you.” He put his hands on his hips, your heart caught in your throat. “If you try for us, you don’t have to feel like this every second of every day. We can show you good days, just like we did before. You can have so many good days they’ll outnumber ones like this. But kid, I need you to give it a chance. Now go outside to where the kids are playing so they can welcome you home.”
You grumbled as you went past him, Jensen clearing his throat behind you. “What now?”
“I’d appreciate it if you spent the day with them. They were devastated when you left and-”
“I wouldn’t hurt them,” you snapped back at him.
“Never said you would. You were always amazing with them. I just hope when you go out there you might finally understand that there are people in this world that love you unconditionally. Kids can’t lie about that crap and those three have begged for their big sister to come back every day. So go make their fucking year and maybe they’ll help you not feel so damn shitty for a little while.”
You swallowed when he went past you and turned the corner.
“I’ll try to try,” you whispered.
You heard him hum and part of you hoped it’d really be that simple.
Late Evening
You winced when you sat down on a counter stool after a late shower. You weren’t old but damn, you had more than a few bruises and scrapes after playing outside with the kids all day.
And it’d been the best day you’d had in a long time.
“Don’t pick at that,” said Dee, coming up from the small basement area with a bottle of wine in hand. You moved your hand away from your knee cap, Dee setting the bottle down. “You put some medicine on your scrapes?”
“Yes,” you said, getting up and going to the cabinet with the first aid kit. She hummed behind you, popping open the bottle as you put a few dabs of antiseptic and bandaids on. “Where’s Jensen?”
“A friend from when he was a kid is in town. They’re getting a quick drink. He should be home in an hour or so,” she said.
“I didn’t say I cared.” She inhaled sharply, pouring her drink with a clenched jaw. “I just think it’s funny. You wanted me back so bad and he’s gone after I’ve been here a day? Yeah, I’m feeling all the love over here.”
“Y/N.” She set the bottle down. Hard. She leaned back, gripping the edge of the counter. With a shake of her head, she sighed. “He hasn’t seen this friend in person in nearly a decade and it’ll probably be another before he sees him again. You want to be pissed at someone? Be pissed at me. I’m the one that told him to go.”
“Of course you did.” She looked up, narrowing her eyes. “Oh come on, Danneel. We both know you never loved me. The kids, yeah. Jensen, maybe. But you? You didn’t want me here. He’s the one always reaching out. It’s never you. He’s not home so we don’t have to pretend right now, alright?”
She stood up straight, taking a long sip from her glass with closed eyes.
“Yeah, drink away the problem. That always worked for so many of my other foster moms.” She set the glass down, slowly peeling open her eyes to reveal something…off. It was a look you didn’t recognize.
“I’m sorry I didn’t love you instantly like he did. I’m sorry Jensen was smitten the second you walked in that door and it took me a few days to fall in love with you. I’m sorry we couldn’t protect you and that we failed you. But you don’t have the right to be mean-”
“I have every right to be whatever the fuck I want,” you snapped. Her bottom lip wobbled, a sharp pang ripping through your gut you tried to ignore. “You’re sad? Boo hoo. Get over it. I told him more than once already. I don’t want this. I don’t want you. You will never be my parent and when I’m eighteen, I really am gone. So suck it up and stop crying because I really do not care.”
She wrinkled her nose and looked away, tears filling her eyes. After a beat, she took a step back and quietly made her way to her room, closing the door behind her. You sighed, sliding off the counter stool to head towards your room when you froze.
Jensen was standing by the hallway, staring at you, every feature of his face etched with anger.
“I-”
“Don’t.” He walked past you, headed straight for his bedroom.
“She-” Jensen spun on his heels, eyes dark as he bounded across the room in four quick steps to stare you down.
“Go to your room. We are going to have a very serious discussion about what I just heard.”
“I-”
“Room. Now,” he growled. You shrunk away and went quickly to your bedroom, heart in your throat.
Why had you said that? Why the fuck had you said that shit to Dee? Your hands shook as you rushed to your closet. You’d been right all along. Something was wrong with you. No wonder no one wanted you. You were nasty and cruel and god, you had to get out of here and let these people live in peace.
You grabbed your duffel and quietly slipped on a pair of sneakers before you were out the garage door without a sound.
One Hour Later
You weren’t far outside of the neighborhood when you heard a car horn blare. You spun around, swallowing when a black SUV sped up close to you, coming to a hard stop in the road. Jensen got out of the car, storming around the front with a fury you’d only seen once before.
Oh god, he was going to fucking kill you.
“Get in the fucking car!” he shouted. You were frozen where you stood, Jensen ripping the duffel away and taking your arm with his other hand. He tossed the bag in the backseat before giving you a look to do what he said or else. Silently you got inside, Jensen slamming the door shut.
You swallowed when you tried the door and realized he had the childproofing on. Fuck, he never did that before when it was only you in the car. He didn’t want you to run away. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
He was behind the wheel fast, putting the car in drive. He didn’t head home though. No, he got on the highway and drove out west, out towards the brewery. Out where it was quiet this time of night. The brewery would be closed, no one around.
You were shaking like a leaf when he pulled up in front of the old house on the property. He was quiet, much slower to walk around the car this time. You wouldn’t look at him when he opened the door, taking your arm again. He didn’t say anything as he walked you up the steps into the dark house. He flipped a switch on the wall, a dim hall light and a few others turning on. At the back of the house was an old kitchen, a few wooden chairs sat at a nearby table.
“Sit.” He let go of you, walking to the far side of the room. This was your one and only chance. You bolted out of the room, ripping open the back door. “Y/N!”
You yelped when arms caught you before you could even get off the back porch. Fuck, you thought he wouldn’t be that fast. But you still tried to get free, aware of someone shouting your name over and over.
“Y/N!” Jensen shouted, shaking you once. You blinked away wet tears as you stared up at him, pulse racing as you kept trying to get your wrists out of his steel grip. “Kiddo, stop. What is going on with you?”
“Just fucking do it already,” you breathed out with as much defiance as you could muster which wasn’t a whole lot. Your heart hurt, your body was coming off an adrenaline high and he was too fucking strong. It was all too fucking much.
“Tall munchkin, what are you talking about?” he asked. You jerked on your hands and fresh tears spilled over.
“Just hurt me already. That’s why you brought me out here, isn’t it? So get it over with.”
His face fell so fast you’d have sworn you told him someone had died. He closed his eyes as his grip on you eased, hands moving to your cheeks. He closed his eyes for a long beat, opening them slowly, wiping away your tears. “Oh, baby girl. Do you really think I could ever do that to you?”
You glanced away, body trembling as you fought back the wracking sobs your lungs that were desperate to escape. He kissed the top of your head, murmuring something you couldn’t make out over the pounding in your ears.
“What?” you whispered, eyes fixated on a tree a ways off in the darkness.
“I said it’s okay. I got you.” You glanced up at him, all the rage from before gone, a deep sadness replacing it. He smiled, thumbing away more tears that silently fell. “I’m sorry. I promised I’d keep you safe and I didn’t. You can hate me if that makes you feel better. God knows I hate myself.”
A single crackling heap of air that sounded like a pained cry left your lips, your hands so tight on his wrists you’d leave marks. “Y/N. I’m sorry for making you come back. We should have realized how much we hurt you. We understand if you can’t forgive us…can’t stand us.”
He closed his eyes, breathing hard a few beats. “I will not force you to stay with people you can’t stand. If you want…we can find you a new family…”
Finally he opened his eyes, wet green eyes meeting your own. “I need you to be okay and you’re not with us. I understand. It’s okay. We’ll find you somewhere you can be okay.”
“You’re getting rid of me?” you breathed out, his head shaking. “Yes, you are.”
“Look at yourself,” he said, dropping his hands, your own releasing him when he stepped back. He shrugged, shaking his head. “I was supposed to make your life better. I was supposed to protect you. I was supposed to take away the pain, not give you more. You deserve a better father than me.”
“Jensen-”
“You’re still scared of me!” He shouted, waving his hand up and down, wiping off his face with the back of his hand. “You thought I’d hit you? After all this time you still don’t trust me and I don’t blame you. I’m a fuck up that will keep fucking this up. I know you want a family but it doesn’t have to be us. I will find you better, somewhere you can forget about all of the bad homes. You can forget about us. You don’t have to hurt anymore.”
You shook your head, Jensen scoffing, looking over your head. “You ran away again. You keep telling Dee and I how much you don’t want this. We can’t keep doing this every day, Y/N. I won’t force you to be part of a family you don’t want. I shouldn’t have told you that you have to try. I’m sorry.”
You clenched your fists by your sides, blinking through tears that wouldn’t stop, trying to breath through your stuffed up nose and failing. “Y/N, I’m sorry-”
“Stop saying that!” You flung your arms out and pushed him back a step, hands hitting a solid wall of his chest.
“Y/N, you don’t want us-” You pushed him again, Jensen not moving this time. “Y/N! Stop-”
You turned and walked away, hands on your head as you bounded down the back steps.
“Y/N!” You spun around, Jensen a few feet behind you in the grassy yard, your heart breathing hard. “Y/N-”
“I LOVE YOU, YOU FUCKING MORON!” you screamed. He froze, face blank a moment as you looked up to the dark night sky. “I told the DA and the state I wouldn’t sue for all their fuck ups if when you decided to adopt me, the process would happen same day, no waiting. I picked you. I want you.”
“W-why didn’t you tell us? Why didn’t Cole?” he asked. You put your back to him, eyes watching the stars above.
“Because I feel like I got stabbed in the heart yesterday and I’ll be bleeding out for the rest of my life. I don’t want adoption unless you want me.” You shuddered when fresh tears started, your throat feeling raw from the choked back sobs.
“But…you know we want you. You know that.” You nodded, feeling him behind you. “If you want us and we want you, what the fuck are we doing out here?”
“This might surprise you but I’m pretty fucked up,” you joked. You lowered your head, wrapping your arms around yourself in the cool night air. “No one’s ever loved me before. I’m so goddamn scared of being loved.”
“Why?” he asked quietly.
“Because what if you change your mind like all the others. There’s no more room inside of me for that and especially not from you.”
“What makes me so special?” he breathed out, resting his hands on your shoulders, tucking your head under his chin.
“I don’t know. I just know that it hurt a hell of a lot more to think you gave me back than to know my birth parents gave me up and I don’t fucking understand why. I’m so mean to you and Dee because if you hurt me like that for real, it’ll kill me. I want you but I’m so scared of that pain coming back. You are the ones that deserve better, not me.”
“And we screwed up so you don’t trust us the way you need to in order to get rid of that fear,” he said. You shook your head, shrugging away from him.
“Jensen,” you said, facing him, the breeze in the air drying your salty tear streaks against your cheeks. “I don’t blame you for not knowing the impossible. That case worker woman was vile. She fucked with me my whole time in foster care. I do not blame you and I hate that you hate yourself for what she did.”
“It doesn’t matter. My job is to protect you and I didn’t. It’s that simple.” You tilted your head, frowning at him. “If we’d stopped her that day we could have been there for you when you found out about her and your birth parents. You wouldn’t feel so alone right now.”
“Yes I would and you know it. Finding out about my birth parents was always going to make me question you and Dee and everything. That kind of pain…” Your gaze went down to your feet for a moment, trailing up to his face eventually. “I was never going to outrun it. It’s something I have to go through alone. You can help but that pain is mine and mine alone to fight through.”
“You shouldn’t ever know that level of pain. No one should,” he said softly. You nodded, the air quiet and still. “I need to let you be in pain I think is what you’re telling me.”
“I’m not looking forward to it either,” you said, closing your eyes. “I got so good at bottling crap up and it’s festering in there. I’ve been trying so hard to stay numb to it all.”
“That’s clearly been working out,” he teased, his foot steps crunching against the dry grass. Heavy arms wrapped around your back, your head dropping to his chest. “Last night you were in shock.”
“I know.”
“I think you have to let yourself feel it all, kiddo. You have to take it and mourn and let the pain in.” You shook your head, his hand dipping under your chin. You swallowed and met his gaze, his green eyes gentle. “You’re scared of being loved? Then let me love you through this. Let me prove that I love all those dark, ugly corners inside of you that you can’t stand. Let me show you I love the worst parts of you as much as the best. You can’t live with this fear and pain forever. So you fight through it and I’ll be by your side while you do. Can we try that?”
“Okay,” you whispered. You shuddered, his hand rubbing up and down your back. “We have a problem.”
“What?” he asked, pressure forming behind your eyes. You screwed your eyes shut to try and stop the wetness but it was coming, your skin prickled up, nerves tingling as the pit your stomach opened up.
“You said nice things and I don’t think I can wait until we get home to have a breakdown,” you whispered, a pang of hurt rippling across your chest. You grimaced, Jensen bending down and picking you up, arms and legs wrapping around him as you clung tight. You trembled, panic crawling through your veins.
They don’t love you. They don’t love you. They don’t love you. No one’s ever loved you.
“Hey, hey,” he said as you sat down inside on the floor of the kitchen against one of the walls. “Breathe for me, tall munchkin. Breathe.”
“W-why didn’t they want me?” you croaked. A large hand tucked you into the crook of his neck, his arms tight across your back and holding you to him. “Why’d they do that to me?”
“I don’t know, baby girl,” he said. You started babbling questions you knew he couldn’t answer, all the while he kept a lock tight grip to keep you close. It was hours later when the tears were long gone and your body exhausted when you finally stopped.
“Jensen,” you mumbled, wearily opening your eyes and met with the mess of his neck and shirt you’d made.
“Yes, sweetheart?” he whispered, head tilted against yours.
“Why do you love me?” you barely got out, throat like sandpaper. He was quiet, chest rising and falling slowly underneath you.
“Those people may have made you but you’re my daughter and I need no reason to love my daughter. All I know is I love her and I will for the rest of eternity so she better get fucking used to it.”
You turned your head up, Jensen lifting his with a tired smile. “How we doing, kiddo?”
“You kept your promise,” you whispered. “About protecting me. Trust me.”
“Okay, kiddo,” he said, your head falling back to his shoulder. “You want to go home?”
You nodded, Jensen grunting as he got his legs underneath himself and managed to stand with you still around him. You hummed your impressment, Jensen chuckling as he walked through the house and hit the switch on the way out.
“We’ll do this as many times as we need to, okay?” You closed your eyes and hummed again. “I’m sorry for scaring you earlier. I just didn’t want you to run off on me before we could talk.”
“S’okay,” you murmured. “Probably a good call.”
“Let’s get you home, sweetie.”
Thirty minutes later Jensen was carrying you inside, kicking off his shoes and pulling yours off your feet before turning the alarm on and turning off the downstairs lights. He didn’t veer left towards your room though. Instead he carried you into his room where Danneel sat in bed with a book and her phone. You wearily raised your head. It was two in the morning. Why wasn’t she asleep?
“M’sorry,” you got out, throat burning again, a wince crossing your face.
“I forgive you,” she said softly as she stood up, tucking your hair behind your ear as Jensen brought you to the bed. She kissed your forehead, sighing gently. “We can talk in the morning.”
“I love you,” you said when Jensen started to move. She smiled, running her hand over your head.
“I love you too,” she said, nodding towards the bed. Jensen set you down in the middle, Danneel pulling the covers over top of you.
Your head had barely hit the pillow before you were out like a light.
You woke up to the sound of a pan clattering somewhere. You looked around the unfamiliar space, quickly registering where exactly you were. The sun was up and a quick glance at the clock showed it was just after seven.
You slowly got out of bed and used the bathroom before leaving their bedroom. Danneel was washing a pan in the sink while Jensen sipped on a cup of coffee and tried to get the twins to eat their breakfast.
“Morning,” you squeaked out, hand going to your throat. You rubbed it, Danneel frowning at you.
“What are you doing up?”
“I have school in thirty minutes,” you said, Jensen shoving a glass of water in front of you that you happily chugged.
“We called school. You finished your exams last week they said and Cole already got you excused these last two days,” said Danneel. “You’re on summer vacation.”
You sat down at the counter and closed your eyes, the sound of a plate set in front of you. You opened them again, Jensen’s plate now yours. He eyed for you to eat and you were honestly still too tired to argue. It hurt a bit to swallow but you got your eggs down by the time Jensen was rushing the kids off to school and daycare.
“Go take a shower and change,” said Danneel, taking your mostly empty plate away.
“Dee.” You paused at the hallway to your room, hearing her stop working in the kitchen.
“Jensen told me about last night. We don’t have to rehash it.” You nodded, putting a hand on the wall. “We’d like to take you on a day trip today if that’s okay with you.”
“Yeah, that’s fine. Where?” you asked.
“Galveston? Have you ever been?” You shook your head. “You’ve never seen the ocean?”
“We only went on one trip when I was a kid and that’s when my birth parents tried to abandon me in the woods.” You shrugged. “Maybe we should go in a few days after JJ graduates kindergarten.”
She smiled and shook her head. “We take lots of trips. We were supposed to go to Canada on your spring break, do you remember?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, we’ll go on that one in July when Jensen goes back to work. But today is a trip for us three, okay? The little ones can come another time.”
“Don’t they need-”
“They are taken care of. Now go wash up and pack a bag. We won’t be home until late.”
“What do I bring to the beach?” you asked. She smiled.
“Just go wash up. I’ll pack your things. Don’t worry.”
That Evening
You tilted your head back with a smile, enjoying the warm setting sun on your face as you leaned against the railing of the pier. The cool ocean breeze was a nice contrast to the last traces of heat in the day.
“I didn’t know teenagers were capable of spending the day with their parents for a day without combusting, let alone do it with a smile,” said Jensen beside you. You stuck out your tongue at him, Jensen throwing an arm over your cold shoulders. “Warm enough?”
“I’m a little chilly but I don’t want to leave yet,” you said.
“I will be right back then. Five minutes.” He left your side and headed towards a stand nearby, Danneel looping her arm through yours as she watched the waves with you.
“Did you have a good day?” she asked.
“Yeah.” You took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. “But this isn’t real life. It’s a vacation. I can’t have your attention all the time.”
“Sweetie, you’re seventeen. I seriously doubt you want our attention all the time.”
“Good point,” you said. “But you and Jensen can’t focus on me. It’s not fair to the little guys.”
“Y/N. Jensen and I are the parents, not you. You will never be a parent to your siblings, understand? You just…be a big sister and you leave the making sure the kids are alright to me and Jay.”
“I’m not used to this. Being cared for. Getting a whole day for me,” you said, smiling when you saw a dolphin far out jump over the water.
“You’ll get used to it. This is just the start.” You nodded when she rested her head on your shoulder. “Someday you’ll struggle to remember what it was like not feeling loved. Just give us time to make it feel normal.”
“I just…feel like it’s a lot for just me. I didn’t do anything to deserve it.”
“Love isn’t a barter system. You just do things for the people you love because you love them. Like Jensen buying you an overpriced sweatshirt so you won’t be cold.” You smirked, her hand rubbing up and down your bare arm. “Trust me?”
“Okay,” you whispered, head turning when Jensen approached with a bright royal blue hoodie.
“Alright so I went with blue since I don’t think our daughter is a highlighter pink kind of girl.” You raised your eyebrows, Jensen chuckling as he tugged it on over your head. “Are you about to tell me I misread that?”
“Uh no, I want the blue over the pink for sure,” you said, tugging it down as he fixed the strings. “I just…you said our daughter.”
“I did. Daughter, daughter, daughter, daughter, daughter,” he said, kissing your forehead when you blushed. “I don’t know what to do with her, Dee. She clearly hates being called daughter.”
“Maybe we just keep saying it so our daughter gets used to it?” she asked, wrapping her arm around your waist.
“I think we definitely should for our daughter. What does our daughter think about that, daughter?” said Jensen with a big stupid smile.
“Jesus christ,” you said, rolling your eyes as you bit the inside of your cheek. His eyes lit up though, finger pointing at your face. “What?”
“Daughter smiled,” he grinned.
“I did not-”
“Don’t lie, daughter,” said Dee, Jensen putting you in a headlock when you groaned. “Aw, she’s annoyed with us.”
“Just like a normal family,” he said. You groaned again. “Come on, let’s go find some ice cream around here.”
“There’s a place back that way with a red and white awning,” said a voice in passing. You turned your head to find a guy about your age standing there, a couple guys that looked like his friends walking on ahead of him.
“Well thank you,” said Jensen, trying to walk away with you but you were still looking at this guy with short, fluffy black hair and a UT Austin hoodie.
“Hi,” he said with a smile as you realized he’d been talking to you the whole time.
“Hi,” you said, pushing Jensen’s arm off of you, taking a step closer to him. “Do you go to Austin?”
He glanced down and laughed. “Oh no. I’m going into my senior year of high school. I did a college tour over there last month. They’re my first choice.”
“Same. I want to do their architecture program if I can get in,” you said, the guys eyes lighting up even more.
“Small world. I’m applying for architecture too,” he said, the guys friends coming back, someone whispering something in his ear that had him trying to wave them off.
“Well hopefully we both get in,” you said, stepping closer and holding out your hand. “Can I have your phone?”
He fumbled with it in his pocket for a second before pulling it out. You texted yourself from his phone and handed it back, his shy smile growing by the second. “Text me sometime. We can vent about the application process.”
“S-sure,” he said, taking the phone back. You clasped your hands behind your back, not even a little upset about the weird little flip flops your stomach was doing. “I’ll see you around.”
“I hope so,” you said. “I’m Y/N.”
“TJ,” he said, walking backwards with that stupid grin.
“See you around campus, TJ.”
“You too, Y/N,” he said as you spun around, giving him a little wave behind your back. You walked past Jensen and Dee, humming to yourself.
“Did you see the way they were looking at each other?” whispered Dee.
“Yes,” mumbled Jensen.
“The way she lit up-”
“Yes.”
“Did that remind you of anyone in particular, Jensen?” she said, a smile in her voice.
“Yes,” he sighed. You glanced over your shoulder, raising your eyebrow at them. “She thinks you just met your soulmate.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “Yeah, right. Sure I did.”
“Jesus christ, she’s going to marry that fucking kid,” said Jensen. You rolled your eyes. “If you saw your face, you’d think so to.”
“He was hot, doesn’t mean anything,” you said, Dee smirking up at Jensen. “Guys.”
“Alright, alright. Let’s go find some ice cream.”
It was after midnight when you got home and into bed. The bridge of your nose was sunburnt and you were pretty sure you still smelled like the ocean despite a shower. But it was a good day.
“Hey,” said Jensen, knocking on the doorframe to your room as you climbed under the covers. “Need anything?”
“I’m good,” you said, Jensen setting a glass of water down on your nightstand. “Thanks.”
“You were in the sun a lot today. Drink that before you sleep,” he said, ruffling your hair. You closed your eyes and nodded, flashing them open when he moved away.
“Why’d you and Dee tease me about that guy today?” you asked. He looked worried and you shook your head. “It’s okay. I know I’ve never talked about boys before with you guys but like, I’ve had a boyfriend before. For like a month but still.”
He smiled and sat on the edge of the bed, taking your hand in his, thumbing over the sleeve of your new hoodie. “Because for a solid minute there, honey, you weren’t just happy. You were…lighter. We’ve never seen you like that before. You were so forward with him and flirting and that is what I want you to feel with your partner everyday when you are ready for that. It’s very hard to explain that it seemed different than you just thinking a guy was hot. Does that make sense?”
You nodded, putting your free hand on your stomach. “I had butterflies but I’ve had those before. I just…it’s really hard to believe in the idea of soulmates. I want to, you know? The idea that there’s someone out there that’s yours and will love you forever is nice but…I find it hard to believe some guy could ever love me. I mean, you know me. What boy will put up with me questioning them if they love me? I’ll be one of those weird clingy girls and guys don’t like that.”
“Your other half will be your safe place and will love to be that for you. He will love to tell you how much he loves you and he will be so good at it, you won’t doubt him. That is the man you will marry. You will never settle for any other man than one that loves you and you will know, tall munchkin. You’ll know who he is when you meet him.”
“How do you know, though?” You asked. Jensen chuckled.
“I’m going to let you figure that one out for yourself when you’re older,” he said, leaning in. “But do text that boy first when you’re ready. If he’s anything like me, he’ls going to need you to make the first move.”
“You think I’m that brave?” you scoffed. “Me?”
“Kid, you literally pushed me away to go talk to some random boy. I don’t know what that was but that boy is meant to be somebody in your life,” he said, giving your hand a squeeze. “Do me a favor though. Focus on you first for awhile, not boyfriends. Deal?”
“Deal.” He got up, pausing when he watched you part your lips.
“Yeah, kiddo?”
“Thanks, for today. I’ve never built a sandcastle or been on a jet ski or eaten seafood or just…had a day like that.”
“You’ll have more like it, promise. Get some sleep now.”
“I…” you said before he could leave, Jensen cocking his head down. “There’s a part of me that’s still scared, that I don’t fit here. I know I shouldn’t but I might…I might still…I don’t want to be a brat again. I don’t. But I’m scared I’ll wake up tomorrow and you'll change your mind.”
“Y/N.” He looked down, tucking your hair behind your ear. “Dee and I called Cole this morning to start the process for you to be adopted. By the end of the week we should be in front of a judge and make it official.”
“You want to…” He nodded. “Why now?”
“We always wanted you. The paperwork has been filled out since the first day we met you.” Your eyes went wide, Jensen sighing. “We wanted adoption to be the last step after you knew we loved you and we knew you loved us. It wasn’t supposed to be a bandaid to get you there. We know you’re shaky still because of your birth parents and there’s fresh scars there we have to work through. But I know you. I know you want us and we want you. So let’s make you ours and we’ll work on healing those new scars.”
“I-I’m getting adopted this week?” you asked, Jensen smiling.
“JJ graduates on Wednesday and we’re having a party for her afterwards. Is Friday too far away?” You shook your head. “We’ll go to the store tomorrow, find you a dress or whatever you want to wear for it.”
“Okay,” you whispered. He ran his hand over your head, leaning down to kiss the top of it. You pressed your hands to your eyes, trying to stop the pressure behind them trying to build.
“You do want this, don’t you?” he asked. You nodded, feeling the air shift. Your hands were gently pulled away, Jensen kneeling before you. “Hey. You never have to hide your tears from me.”
“It just doesn’t feel real. Good things don’t happen to me.” He held your hands, trying to hide his worry. “Are you really sure?”
“We lost you once. We’re not losing you again. End of story.” You closed your eyes, smiling as he pulled you into a hug. “And to be clear, you keep calling me and Dee whatever you want to. You do not have to call us mom and dad. Ever. Okay?”
“You worry too much,” you whispered, hugging him hard. He let out a huff, chuckling through it. “I wish I was born here.”
“Me too. I would have loved to teach you so much.” You laughed, leaning back to catch his curious eyes.
“There’s still things you can…like maybe tomorrow you can show me how to ride a bike?” you asked. His eyes lit up at that information. “I know I should know by now but no one…I realized the assholes didn’t teach me a lot-”
“We will teach you everything you want to know,” he said, getting to his feet and kissing your forehead. “Starting with the bike tomorrow. Now drink your water and I want you to sleep in tomorrow. You haven’t had a good night’s sleep in months.”
“Jensen,” you said as you scooted back against the pillows and he grabbed your blanket from the chair in the corner to toss over you. “I swear I’ll never run away again. I’m sorry. You and Dee need to have a good night’s sleep too.”
“I trust you, tall munchkin.” He pointed at the glass and you took a big chug, Jensen humming. “Come get us if you need anything.”
“Goodnight,” you said, setting the glass aside and laying down.
“Goodnight, sweetheart.”
Friday Night
Jensen stood up from his seat around the table on the back porch where most of the family was congregated. “Alright. I’m going to go get the firepit started. Y/N, come watch and learn.”
You shoveled down the rest of your cake and wiped off your hands as you trotted down the stairs after him. “Are you sure this is about the firepit and not giving me some kind of present? Cause you’ve been trying to get me alone for like, an hour.”
“We already got you presents. The new bike for my incredible prodigy-”
“Am I prodigy if we spent thirty minutes watching youtube videos first?” He ignored you, tossing his arm over your shoulder as you walked across the grass towards the back patio deck in the corner.
“You already got your presents for the day,” he said.
“Yeah, stuff I didn’t ask for in the first place. Having…this is more than enough,” you said, gesturing towards him and back at the house.
“I know. It actually makes it incredibly difficult to find gifts for you,” he teased, letting you go when you got to the pit. He flicked the pocket of your galveston hoodie you wore, your head darting down at the thwacking sound. “Hm. Sound like something’s in there.”
“Did you just reverse pick-pocket me?” you said, reaching inside and pulling out an envelope.
“Why don’t you go take a seat and read that while I get the fire going?” he said, pointing to a far off chair. You raised and eyebrow but left him, instead choosing to hop up on top of the railing. “Y/N.”
“Yeah?” you asked, tearing it open.
“There’s some things in there that are different now but the message is the same. Remember that.”
“Okay…” you said, taking out the sheets, pausing when you saw the date in the top corner. “This is from the first day I was ever here, last December.”
“I might have written that awhile ago.” You stared at him, Jensen tilting his head. “You read that and we never have to talk about it again and when you’re ready, we’ll invite everybody down here, alright?”
“What is this?” you asked, spotting an 18 on the envelope.
“I…write letters to my children…for their big life events…some I’ve already written, some I haven’t yet. That was supposed to be your letter for your eighteenth birthday. I always thought with how long adoption takes…it’d be around that time when we had been able to do that for you. Today felt fitting for it.” He put his back to you and started to fiddle with a switch on the stone wall, flames coming up from the gas fire pit. He simply stood there, watching it, ignoring your stares.
After a moment you straightened out the papers and started to read.
Hi kiddo. So today’s your first day here. It’s getting pretty late. I just checked and you’re passed out in your room. I’m taking that as a good sign. I know today was stressful for you, stressful for all of us. It certainly hasn’t turned out like I expected. I never expected you to be any sort of way really. But you kind of broke my heart earlier. It’s alright. It’s part of being a dad. It’s nothing you even did. I see how afraid you are, how closed off you are. You told me not to bother with you.
Y/N, you’re out of your fucking mind if you think for one second I’m not going to fight every single day to prove you wrong. You are worth a family, sweetie. You are so worth it. Dee and I talked about you quite a bit after you went to bed. We’re going to adopt the shit out of you someday. Hopefully by the time you get this, we already have or at least you know we’re going to.
I don’t need that piece of paper to know how I feel. We’ll get it someday, I promise you that. But I don’t need it. I don’t need a piece of paper to call you my daughter.
I know you’re probably thinking, Jensen, you’re nuts. You barely knew me for five hours! How did you know you wanted to adopt me?
Well, Y/N, here’s the thing. Before I opened that front door today, I didn’t. I wanted desperately for you to be part of this family. I certainly never expected to know right away. You know, I’ve only known I loved someone unconditionally like that three other times in my life. You may know them as your siblings. Even with Dee, I fell hard for her but not so fast.
It scares the shit out of me to be honest. You’ll learn in time that while I’m big and tall and strong, I’m a wimp when it comes to this stuff. I got a lot of friends, but there’s only a few I let in close like that. I get scared of getting hurt too. I’m shy and quiet unless I feel comfortable around whoever I’m with. I force myself to not be like that around people sometimes but I don’t have to force a thing with you. So yeah, it’s only been a little while. I know we got a lot ahead of us to deal with.
I know I love you too, kiddo. I’m not your birth dad. I didn’t teach you to ride a bike or swing a baseball bat or take you to your first day of school.
But you’re my daughter and I’ll never give a damn that we don’t share blood or the fact I didn’t make you. You’re ours and we’re yours and no one will ever tell me otherwise.
I’ll always be your dad, no matter how big you get. You lost a lot of opportunities to be a kid. I know that and I wish I could give them back. But I’ll do what I can. You can be embarrassed of me or think I’m a dork. That’s okay. I want to give you as much as possible.
Just because you’re growing up doesn’t mean any of that will ever stop either. I will still be dad and still ask you to let me know you got home safe when you’re my age so get used to it. I know it’ll only have been about a year. I know it won’t be perfect. I know we’ll have had hard days by now and we’ll keep having them.
But as long as you’re safe, as long as you’re happy, as long as you give us a chance, that’ll be more than enough for me. You’re strong, Y/N. I am proud of you for how amazing you’ve done in life all on your own. Maybe it seems stupid to you but I am proud. You were your own parent and I’m sorry. No one should have to raise themselves. But you did a damn good job of it. Let us take over from here. You rest and be a kid again.
Allow yourself to feel loved again, honey. We won’t hurt you. We never will.
By the time you see this, I hope you know all of this already. I hope none of this comes as a surprise. We love you. I love you. I think you know we’re different already. I saw it tonight when I told you I was going to prove you wrong. No one’s cared about you like that in a long time.
Your parents care. Cole cares. We care. There’s going to be even more people that come into your life that care about you. I’m so very honored to get to be one of them. It won’t be easy. But that’s okay. I will never stop showing you that you are worth every bit of love you get around here and beyond it.
I love you.
Also, you snore a little and that’s so flippin’ adorable.
I don’t know how to end this so welcome home, Y/N and Happy 18th Birthday, kiddo.
Love,
Dad
You wiped off your face with your sleeve, a shaky breath escaping your lips. Carefully, you tucked the letter back into the envelope, holding it against your chest.
“Why didn’t you give me this sooner?” you whispered. You heard the deck creak behind you.
“You wouldn’t have believed me.” You closed your eyes, chest tight.
“Sunday night…you said you’d find me another family if that’s what I wanted. Even when you loved me all this time.”
“When you love someone, really love them, all you want is for them to be happy. I’d do anything to make you happy, kiddo, even if it hurts me. That’s what parents do.”
You tucked the envelope into the kangaroo pocket of your hoodie, slowly wrapping your arms around yourself.
“I don’t want you to feel bad about Sunday. We don’t have to talk about that letter ever again either. All I wanted to do was give you a reminder for when I’m not around that we love you so damn much.”
Your bottom lip wobbled as your eyes opened, glancing right to find him at your side. Warm green eyes met yours, his smile soft. He wiped your cheeks with the cuff of his shirt sleeve, turning your head when you tried to shy away. “Hey. Look at me.”
You looked up, soft fleece touching under your eyes and then dabbing over your wet lashes. You blinked a few times, swallowing thickly. All he did was smile though. “Why are you washing my face?”
“This isn’t the first time I’ve wiped away one of my kids tears and it won’t be the last.”
“But why me? I’m not a little kid,” you whispered. He cocked his head, swiping down your neck before cupping your cheek.
“Because you’ll always be my kid and dad’s take care of their kids. I’ll spend the rest of my life proving that to you. I promise.” You nodded, his hand dropping. “I’m sorry about the letter-”
“No.” You placed your hands over the pocket, the envelope crinkling. “I loved it.”
“It made you cry.”
“They weren’t sad tears,” you whispered. He took a moment to clear his throat, leaning against the railing. He lowered his head, breathing deeply. “Will you write me more letters?”
“Yeah,” he breathed out, turning to you with a smile. “I’ll write you more letters. I just thought you didn’t like the way I ended it.”
“I don’t snore,” you said, getting a laugh out of him. “I don’t.”
“Yes you do but they’re tiny baby snores. It’s cute,” he said, looking down again. “I meant the dad thing.”
“You call yourself that all the time.” He sighed, straightening up.
“I know. But that’s not a title I’ve earned with you. I just…” he closed his eyes, shoulders tensing.
“That was my favorite part.” He turned slowly, blinking his eyes rapidly. You shrugged, a small whisper of a smile forming on your lips. “Why the hell wouldn’t I love when you tell me you love me?”
“I can love you as Jensen. You never, ever, have to call me anything other than that and it doesn’t change a thing about how I feel about you.”
You nodded, looking out at the dark river beyond. The air was quiet, Jensen still, at ease next to you.
“We should invite everyone down here before they wonder what the hell’s going on,” you said. You felt him start to turn, your hand catching his arm. He looked down at it before finding your face. You smiled, taking a deep breath. “Can you bring down stuff for smores?”
“I can do that,” he said, getting a half step away.
“Dad,” you said, glancing over your shoulder, his whole body freezing. He spun around, surprise written all over his face. You grinned wider, tilting your head at him. “Don’t forget the napkins this time.”
“Right. Napkins.” He blinked a few times, glancing at the house and then you. “Are you sure-”
“Dad. Don’t make a big deal out of it.” He held up his hands. “I’m serious.”
“Alright. Smores coming right up.”
You woke up early the next day, padding down the hall and finding Jensen and Danneel sitting on the covered back porch with mugs of coffee in front of them. With a yawn, you saw him wave you over and grumbled. You’d taken to drinking coffee the past few months when you started working so much and had developed a craving for it in the mornings.
“Morning,” you mumbled, taking a seat at the table and stealing the closest cup to you. You took a big, slow gulp, humming to yourself.
“I need that more than you do,” said Jensen, taking the mug back, taking a drink. “Sleep okay?”
You nodded, rubbing your eye when Danneel leaned over and gave you a side hug. “Can we be normal again guys? I get yesterday was a big deal but I just want to go back to being Y/N.”
“We’re huggers,” he said as she squeezed tighter. “Speaking of which, we have one last present for you, from my parents. They asked us to give it to you privately. Don’t worry, you’ll like it.”
You raised an eyebrow, Danneel releasing you only to reach across the table and tug over a blue bag. “Go on.”
With a roll of your eyes, you reached in the bag and pulled out a picture frame. Turning it over, you saw a slightly grainy image of you as a toddler, maybe three years old at most. Except the other person in the picture, the person who’s hip you were sat on as you clung your tiny arms around their neck, was a young Jensen of all people.
You snapped your eyes over to him, a silly look on his face. “What is this?”
“When Jensen was in his twenties, they went on a family trip to disney world,” said Dee, hugging your side again. “When he was at the airport, there was a lost little girl and he helped her. Do you remember that at all?”
You titled your head, staring at him, eyes widening briefly. “You? T-That was you?”
“My mom was going through some old home movies and found footage from when that happened a while ago. She only told me last night and gave me a picture like that too. She thinks it’s a sign.”
“It is a sign,” said Danneel, your gaze going back to the picture. “You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.”
“Y/N, if I had somehow known back then what your future was…” You nodded, offering him a smile. “I wish I’d known and could have been there for you.”
“S’okay,” you said quietly, smirking at the picture. “Like mom said, I’m where I’m supposed to be now.”
“Exactly,” she said, your arms wrapping around her waist as she hugged you tight. You felt another pair of arms wrap around you both and squeeze. “So, did you text that boy from the pier yet?”
“Uh, actually yeah,” you said, heat creeping into your face. “He’s from Dallas. He seems nice.”
Thankfully they dropped it when there was a crash in the house and JJ came rushing over, covered in milk. Dee sighed and scooped her up, you and Jensen following behind to clean up the floor.
“Y/N,” he said as you used a roll of paper towels to soak up the half gallon splashed across the floor. You hummed, glancing up when you noticed he’d stopped cleaning. “I’m going to say this once and only once because I trust you. The person you end up with, make sure they’re a good one. I don’t want you to end up with an asshole who only tells you what you want to hear.”
“I won’t. I’ve got a pretty good example of how the guy I end up with should treat me.” You continued to clean up, shaking your head. “Besides, there’s no way that I end up with that TJ guy. Like zero chance.”
“That why you keep staring at your phone with a stupid smile on your face whenever you get a text?” You growled, Jensen chuckling. “Oh come on, I can’t tease you about boys? This is too much fun for me.”
“Dad,” you groaned. He only beamed though, smiling as you rolled your eyes. “You’re such a dork.”
“Yup. Just remember you picked us dorks.” You glanced over at him, a tiny sliver of a smile coming through. “Too late to change your mind now.”
“You’re alright for an old guy,” you teased.
“Just alright?” he asked. You shrugged.
“Maybe a little more than alright,” you said, getting a head ruffle, stilling when you realized he’d just gotten milk all in your hair. “Dude! Gross!”
“I love you too, kiddo.”
