I think one of my “favorite” things is when people misinterpret what it means to be aroace. Watching people so clearly not understand the complexity behind the spectrum of aromatic and asexuality and then proceed to say they “stand with” aroace as an ally is so hilarious to me. Especially when they use this to start bashing on a perfectly fine ship, especially because said ship gets in the way of theirs.
Aroace does not mean no attraction. The plastered poster face for it is people who don’t feel ANY types of attraction, but that does not mean everyone. Aromantic people can date and fall in love. Asexual people can fuck. Aroace people can do both.
Yes, aroace rep IS needed. But we still have it via Luffy—just because Luffy kisses someone (hypothetically) doesn’t mean we just yeeted the aroace label off of him. He is STILL aroace. You know who else is aroace? Bon Clay, for one. Zoro as well. Yet I don’t see people screaming that shipping Zoro with someone completely erases the aroace label, now do I?
Ugh, I’d totally make a whole ass essay about this, but it’s half till midnight. It’s just. Been on my mind for a few hours and I need to say a little shit

A page from my sketchbook where I was exploring some cultural aspect of the elven culture Luin & Aela are from. Specifically the use of hairstyles (here braids) to show social status
Here's it's mostly about showing elven & human heritage (which determines whether someone has elven or human citizenship, since both people cohabit on the Arvor Islands), and showing marital status. There would also be specific styles for children at specific ages, nobility status, civil servants, etc. but I haven't thought about these. Yet

anyway
yeah, astarion can be an asshole who expresses some... less than stellar moral stances
but tbh anyone who makes the "his trauma doesn't justify being shitty to people" argument is genuinely. such a clown lmao
like oh, the guy who spent 200 years being forced to live off of rats and bugs, use his body to lure hundreds or thousands of people to their deaths (and develop profound sexual trauma as a result), and sit through periodic torture and mutilation purely for other people's enjoyment should just... be nice??? hm.
the same guy who was buried in the ground for a year, isolated and starved and deprived of his senses, just so his master could prove a point and keep him from ever being disobedient again, even though obedience was never a real issue to begin with because he was already under a compulsion that forced him to obey his master's orders? that guy? he needs to just stop being a dick, huh?
interesting. very interesting. what a fascinating take.

I know there are as many religious good guys as there are religious bad guys in IDW, but I think I pinned down the reason why it feels like the most prominent religious figures are all bad guys and it's pretty much due to the worldbuilding.
Maybe my memory of the comics is just really bad, but the religious worldbuilding in IDW is....kind of trash honestly. I'm not sure there's a single religion or religious custom that doesn't exist solely to further the plot along. Like, it's one thing for the Camiens to worship the Primes and that causes a lot of stuff in exRID/OP, but what does that worship actually look like? What are their holidays, customs, religious texts? What about "spectralism" which basically the only thing we know about is the Festival of the Lost Light and some hippie color coding and aura shit? Like sure, there are characters who are religious and their beliefs come into play sometimes, but it honestly feels (especially in MTMTE) more like their religiousness only exists when it's relevant to the plot and it's just kinda. Disappointing eh. Lacking in worldbuilding. Plus the more religious a character is the more it's written as their entire personality and the driving force making them evil so it just kinda made me cringe to read honestly.

When I tell you I've spent all day writing in this story's notebook, it's crazy lol.
I figured out the background for Kuba's grandparents & her uncle (the latter didn't even exist until yesterday lol). Her grandmother always gives her subtle hints about what's going on, and now it's clear that it's out of regret for history repeating itself. Her late grandfather made decisions that caused hardships for Kuba and his own son, but at the end of the day, he was thinking of his family as the King during his reign, and it's the only reason why two groups of people have a chance of uniting under one kingdom for once.
Hopefully I get the background stories for these last three characters figured out soon!

something from the book i so wish had been in the tbosas movie is the way snow thinks lucy gray is below him...and the fact that he never grows out of it (which doesn't mean he doesn't like her, he just also kind of despises her and people like her). when i reread the book i had just seen killers of the flower moon and snow and lucy gray's relationship was very reminiscent of ernest and mollie's relationship for me like when king hale asks ernest "can you stand [mollie's] kind?" even though their kind were doing unspeakable things to her kind? snow and lucy gray's relationship is very much like that to me and there's also the power he has over her by literally being responsible for her life and idk i feel like if you only watch the movie you can delude yourself into thinking he's somewhat overcome his prejudice against people from the districts by falling in love with a girl who isn't from the capitol when he never does he thinks they're savages from day 1 to day like 60 and he thinks it on day 55 too
