i absolutely do think that! "the cage" as a concept is, at least in my head, closely interwoven with sexual trauma. as a teen, the cage is where he is placed by the scene's culture of sexual exploitation, which has drilled into his head that desirability + accessibility = value, and that saying no to anything asked of you is not only social suicide but also a devaluation of yourself (because if you aren't desirable AND accessible, what good are you to anyone else?)

and then in season 2, he's placed in the cage by the culture of violent masculinity, which asserts that narcissism + emotional detachment = power, and after the coup keefe is an easy target to abuse because he is neither of those things and thus powerless. in this instance, sexual violence is not thrust upon him because he is desirable, but because he's powerless and therefore it's fun to make him take it.

HOWEVER, i would argue that despite the very different circumstances and contexts for the assaults, the cages are much the same– they're both about people in power depriving him of consent for their own entertainment. they stick him in a cage, tell him to be good and shut up and live with what they give him, that he can't say no, that this is what he deserves, that he's where he ought to be. and this is coming from people that he considered his peers! he thought he could trust his communities to keep him safe, and it doesn't matter if he's 15 or 30, they're always going to prove him wrong. (and i think that's what makes kelvin being the one to rescue him both literally and metaphorically from those cages so poignant– he is the only person that keefe has trusted in this way who looks at him and doesn't see some strange animal who exists for everyone else's amusement. no one recages keefe...)
