10. They Have Known Each Other for Years Before They (Finally) Started to Date

When it comes to famous couple we hardly ever know how they met, but not with this hot couple. It was Stevie Nicks who first spilled the beans:superstar Harry Styles and nepotism babe Y/n Y/l/n met back in May 2015 at the backstage of a Fleetwood Mac concert in London, while attending with mutual friends and Mr.Styles took her out for a bite afterwards. According to rumours Styles and Miss Y/n were seen out and about around London during the month of May and she was photographed in a One Direct concert in Wales, and then Harry reportedly dated a string of Victoria Secret models and Camilla Rowe… 

Asked about it in a interview with Vanity Fair, Y/l/n said:”I was very young back then, just seventeen, still a little green and naive in this whole ‘love game’, we liked each other very much, but at that time we would have just… crashed and burned. Feelings were hurt, but it’s safe to say we’ve kept special places for each other in our hearts, and when we met again at Shangri-La we just fitted together…” 

A Bonus: While promoting her new movie with Julia Roberts, Y/n Y/l/n was asked by James Corden about the rumor that her famous mom ‘just loves to public  embarrasses her’, to which Y/n gave us a funny story: ‘So, as a teen I just loved Harry Styles, you know: the hair, the eyes, the dimples… I was like: we are soulmates, we are destined for each other. I had a framed poster of him in my bedroom. So… we are traveling from London to LA, my mom had just finished a movie, we are at the airport, and a few foot away, handsome as ever is Harry Styles, and his whole boyband… my mom recognized him from my posters and basically all my gadgets background, and she goes: excuse me… hi, Harry, my name is Y/m/n Y/l/n, my daughter just loves you… and she wouldn’t stop… let’s just say I spent a long time hiding in the ladies restroom’ Y/l/n added: ‘Harry actually finds the story funny and always tells all of our friends’.

There it goes: Y/n Y/l/n is jus like every other teenage with a Harry Styles crush.

9. They Rekindled Their Romance at the 2019 Met Gala

Harry co-chaired the event. Y/n made her solo debut—this is her third year attending the gala, but the first time without either her famous parents—, she attended as a guest of Gucci, dressed in a green-glittered-feathered gown custom designed for her by Alessandro Michele. The twenty four years old singer and the twenty years old actress were pictured in he pink carpet and, I mean, just the way they looked at each other screams volumes. 

We may not know what happened inside the gala, but we can have a idea by the after party picture, and let’s just say:you can manage to see a photo of either of them where the other isn’t by their side or the background.

Dating rumors started after pictures were published of Harry and Y/n leaving the after-after party in the same car with Styles gentlemanly carrying Y/l/n red gown’s train. 

The same month ‘sources close to the couple’ reported that Harry and Y/n actually met months in advance to the gala ‘Y/n was working with Mark Ronson at Shangri-La in Malibu, her and H stared as friends, just going out and spending time together, things changed in Italy in early 2019 when they decided to go together for fittings with Alessandro’.

When questioned about the young couple went with the standard: We’re just friends.

8. Their Romance is Packed With PDA

Though they keep their ‘Just Friends’ answers, the couple haven’t shied away from some good old Public Displays of Affection. And this says something when we’re talking about Harry Styles.

O-kay, it’s totally not okay for someone close to you—someone you clearly trust— to leak private pictures of your private instagram to the world. Y/n private IG account went from 167 followers o 165 after pictures the actress posted on her profile were printed and leaked.

That being said… We can’t deny Y/n and Harry are a cute and romantic couple:

The couple has a matching tattoo, and we’re dying. Nothing screams ‘Love’ like a matching tattoo.

5. That Lego Bouquet

Y/n was there for her man during SNL, as Harry was both host and musical guest. And she got him a bouquet… of Legos. 

Sources said ‘Y/n has been here with Styles all week, Harry, surprisingly is a very shy guy, so she was  always keeping him calm and relaxed, helping him with his anxiety, and just being a helping hand, they keep  in their own bubble but are very approachable’.

4. December Was a Emotional Month For Harry and Y/n ‘s Fans

Little Women was released and our girl slayed as Jo March in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation. During promotion Y/l/n was paired with Pugh and Chalamet, and those tree were the trio of BFF’s we needed. Y/l/n and Chalamet chemistry—this is their second movie together— generated a few rumors of troubles in paradise.

But it was all just rumors, as Y/n was photographed at Styles one-night-only show at The Forum in Los Angeles, 

She was once again by his side in London. 

The bomb that broke millions of hearts came in 28 December.

In a joined statement was released by Styles and Y/l/n teams… After Academy Award winner filmmaker and producer, Y/f/n Y/l/n, communicated to the world in his official website that his wife and him ‘are happy to announce the marriage of their youngest daughter to Mr. Harry E. Styles’ all very formal like Y/f/n usually is.

The couple got married in 18 December at Hampstead Town Hall in London, both their families were in attendance. The couple asked for respect of their privacy, and announced that they would continue to live bi-continental.

3. Harry Styles Music Videos and… Surprises.

We hoped, but we weren’t sure, that we would see Y/n in Styles Music Videos, I mean, isn’t a rule somewhere that if you got a gorgeous, Academy nominated actress for a WIFE, you must put her in your MV’s? No?

Harry didn’t disappoint us. The singer and his wife frolicking by the beach, feeding each other fruits is a state of mind.

It also marks the debut of Y/n in Styles public feed.

Styles was praised by models in his video for asking for consent to touch them while filming, it was also said that the couple is very much in love and still in their honeymoon phase, just enjoying being together with one saying ‘when they looked at each other, you sometimes felt like you’re invading a private moment, Harry wouldn’t stop gushing over Y/n and how she inspired his more soft romanic songs’ and ‘they are just so nice to everyone’.

The surprise came months later during the release of ‘Golden’. The song is said to be about Y/l/n, with fans nothing that the actress and our favorite nepo babe has ‘you’re so golden’ tattooed in her ribs since 2017. 

The video was filmed in the Amalfi Coast, with Styles running and driving around, Y/l/n doesn’t show up until the end, looking very gorgeous in white… and sporting a small baby bump. Yep, the couple probably had the best pregnancy announcement of 2020.

2. Harry Styles Being a Supportive Husband

2021 was a great year for Y/n Y/l/n, and no one can deny. 

The actress  welcomed her first child in early February. She went on to own a Golden Globe and a Emmy for her Netflix Miniseries. 

The couple had their red carpet debut while attending the Grammys, with Styles proudly showing off his wife, the actress got candid while admitting that it was her first time going out without the baby, and though the child was with ‘grannie Anne’ the new mom still felt anxious.

In a interview with Kelly Clarkson while talking about parenthood Y/n said ‘It’s a crazy rollercoaster, they grow so fast! We decided, for now, not to have a nanny,  we just want to enjoy all those little moments that we can, so it is being kinda of nuts, but we have a great team and a very supportive family. Harry is great, he aced the nappy game and night feeding, he’s a amazing daddy, we often joked that H had amazing fun uncle potential, but he’s positively surprising us all, he just goes beyond, the  best parenthood partner a girl could ask for.  Definitely  my favorite dilf.’

Months before the ‘Adore You’ crooner announced his new album, Styles shared a candid picture of himself, his wife Y/n and their babygirl Delilah, with the caption: Home. 

In early  April the lyrics of ‘As It Was’ confounded fans a little, until four months later the couple announced the birth of their second daughter, Talulah, and their relocation to England in a more permanent scale. The couple not only has been living in London since mid 2021, they also acquired two homes in Styles motherland. Styles in a interview with Apple Music, said about his move: ‘A lot has change in my life the last few years, my home are now three amazing girls, my gorgeous wife and our two baby-daughters, but England is my comfortable place, initially we moved because I was going to film a movie, Y/l was still pregnant with Talulah, one night I come home after shooting and my wife goes: what do you think about moving here for real? And she goes on: I just spent an afternoon at a public park with Lilah without men with cameras following us around. It was a no brainer decision, we’re very happy, Lulah was born in London, my mum and sister are always around, I’ve never been happier’.

I’ve been getting into runway fashion and couture recently, and I thought this would be a lot of fun, so here are my personal outfit headcannons!

Inej

Okay so Inej was super fun for me. My first thought was automatically something black and sleek like the first two, but then I thought she would love wearing something that is influenced by her culture, and I thought that green look from Amir Aggarwal would look stunning on her.

Running in the exact opposite direction of Kaz, Jesper would 110% wear something outlandish and in a shade so bright it’s hard to look at. These were some of my favorites I could see him in.

Wylan was difficult for me at first, then I got inspired and had a lot of fun with it. I think he would wear something simple, elegant and in his style. I love these looks a lot.

Nina is in a similar vein as Jesper, I think, but probably a bit more sexy and refined. I chose the first one because it reminds me of her kefta! (and the model is plus sized!!)

"Rammstein is my life. My job, my family."

Sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. A truism that no one knows as well as Till Lindemann. For more than twenty years, the 52-year-old muscle man has been playing as Rammstein's frontman on records, stage and paper with the Neue Deutsche Härte-Feuer - after several postponements, the time has finally come: with his solo debut 'Skills In Pill’s announced at the beginning of the year will be released in mid-June, the most discussed album of the year!

Outside of the limelight, Till Lindemann tends to be the introverted, taciturn type who likes to avoid public appearances and feels much more comfortable in the rough wilderness night fishing than on red celebrity carpets. After one or the other time in the recent past at least raised eyebrows - on the one hand through the rather bizarre guest appearance of pop singer Heino during the last Rammstein show at Wacken Open Air 2013, on the other hand through Lindemann's songwriting work for Roland Kaiser's new album, also keep your fan base in suspense with the collaboration with Hypocrisy/Pain mastermind Peter Tägtgren: On the joint album 'Skills In Pills' Till Lindemann rolls his enigmatic lyrics in English throughout and thus causes divided reactions within the metal World.

«Writing in English is a kind of a new start,» says Till Lindemann, explaining his discovered affinity for foreign languages. « A whole new field in which I can let off steam. It has become very difficult to write German texts today because I have already said almost everything in some form. Everything has already been covered. With Lindemann I'm starting from scratch lyrically. Free choice! An unplayed place waiting to be deflowered. »

The themes dealt with by Lindemann on 'Skills In Pills' don't really differ that drastically from those in his Rammstein texts or his two previously published books: Dark passions, the curse and blessing of various pills, and of course sex in all conceivable ways or form. This time, however, not in German, but with a double dose of deep black humor. « At first I wasn't so sure if the lyrics were really good because they came together so easily. It was too easy compared to the German texts. At Rammstein, six people work in their designated areas. Everyone has their place and their fixed area that they work on. However, you still have to reconcile six different opinions. Of course, this is not always entirely without complications. Nevertheless, we of course also learned a lot from each other. »

Knowledge that Lindemann brings to his solo project today. Until recently, the Berliner focused almost exclusively on his work with the Berlin pyro-metallers, but his urge to express himself seems to become stronger and more unpredictable with each passing year.

« I think it's normal to express yourself in different ways over the years. When you're young and you start a band, you put all your energy into that band. Music, stage shows, artwork, everything. Today everything is better divided so that each of us can concentrate our energies elsewhere. I can already say that this project will be a big part of Peter's and my future together, but my priority will always remain Rammstein. Rammstein is my life. My job, my family. I spend my vacation from this family with Peter. »

Holiday fun with a difference: With loud widescreen guitars, electronic programming and dark, erotic doom prose - switching off in Lindemann style. « It was also nice to travel up to the countryside to see Peter again and again. It only takes about three hours from Berlin and you're there. I visited him 20 or 25 times; even if sometimes it was just for a day. Sometimes he called and said I needed to come in for a quick recording. Then I quickly got on the plane and was there straight away. »

ynsmybestie hi, hello! i saw lots of you sharing those deux moi posts and thought i would say something about it. firstly, that account most of the times has fake informations. secondly, even if they are true we shouldn't be on IG and picking sides like it's our parents' divorce. they are real people and they are allowed to have troubles and misunderstandings. just because they are famous doesn't mean they're going to be together forever or have no bumps in the road during life. thirdly, why do you send yn and harry threats? it's not your relationship, they are allowed to break it whenever they please. and lastly, jeff's story. we saw how he looks at yn and how he talks about her but it doesn't give us the right to send him death threats. whatever he says just reflect on him. please tpwk.

↳ candidharry harry and Florence did this scene about five times (there's a little kiss before he drives off). yn seems to be really professional, treats everybody equally. she does look tired and sad, avoids looking at harry if not necessary. i think they're having some problems. harry seems to be getting along well with a cast, especially with Olivia.

enews BREAKING NEWS! Email from Warner Bros leaked! From the email we know that YN YSN (23) is no longer the director of WB's newest production, Don't Worry Darling. Her place was take over by the actress and director, Olivia Wilde (36). Apparently, the email wasn't send to YN, she got the news two days ago when she showed up for work. YN's displacement is believed to be because of her ex-boyfriend, Harry Styles (26) and his rumoured new girlfriend, Olivia Wilde. Source says that during filming Harry got really close with Olivia what didn't sit right with YN. After the month of filming the singer and 'Little Women' director broke up. Harry seemed to move on rather quickly. More information in the link in our bio.

Oh and writing you, earlier I found out about HL’s early days communication through Dusty Styles and Ted Tomlinson and oh my, they were so into each other like it’s so cute and embarassing and cute, who the hell does it when they were teenagers? I've talked about why Harry isn't bisexual many times before. Here is one post about it.

For me that's not something i even question. There's been so many instances of H not showing interest in women, and rather showing ick. Like that interview i linked to in the post. But in additon; This entire AMAs 2015 red carpet interview. "Do you have any crushes on girls?" Harry without hesitating "No, never". And Louis saying the same lmao. Also that concert when 1D answered twitter questions and the question was "What's the one thing you'll never eat?" and Harry very clearly whispered to Zayn "Pussy". Lmao, hets were bending over backwards trying to explain that one away. "Straight men don't all like eating pussy" lmao, sure. There is more i'm forgetting right now, this was just off the top of my head.

With the way he kisses women and don't seem to like it, have no sexual chemistry with them, never have crushes on them and never eats pussy, i hope for every woman's sake that he's gay. Good thing he is.

Not to rain on your parade, but i've never been sold on Ted and Dusty being H and L, and not just fans roleplaying. I started on a post about it back in 2013, it's still in my drafts i think, but i never finished it. There were arguments pro and con, so in my book it's inconclusive.

TSS PREDICTIONS: 2022 MTV VMAs

With the MTV VMAs on August 28 and Taylor up for significant awards (alongside some highly suspicious attention and promotion being paid to the award ceremony) - it just feels like the time is right for some kind of news and an appearance from her.

Historically, her fashion at the VMAs has been very mixed. Most years it’s fun and short and edgy or interesting - an opportunity to step outside of the box. See: The Incident. Or: The Incident 2.0. But she’s also had two years where she’s opted inside the box with two full-length formal gowns. Add in the fact that Taylor’s style is such a mystery these days without a clear aesthetic driven by a single project - your guess is quite literally as good as mine for this award show.

But, as always, I’ll do my best.

And with that, here we go.

Christian Siriano Resort 2023: I really like this frock because it offers a best of multiple worlds scenario and ticks a lot of different boxes where Taylor’s style has lived over the years. Feminine and soft (the shoulder bows), a little sexy and saucy (the bustier cups and thigh slit), powerful and tailored (the neutral palette and elegant styling). I would love to see this with Taylor’s signature red lip and a shiny wavy pony with a black velvet hair ribbon for a kicky and girlish touch. And why not go all the way with some Aquazzura bow pumps to finish it off.

Alice + Olivia Spring 2022: This gown feels familiar but also fresh. The cutouts and delicate straps are reminiscent of her Balmain jumpsuit at the 2015 BBMAs and the skirt and overall shimmer a reminder of her most recent appearance at the BRITs. I appreciate that this is chic, clean, minimal, but with a bit of skin. A perfect balance for Taylor’s fashionable comfort level seems to be as of late.

Naeem Khan Resort 2023: Given Taylor’s love of trousers lately, I feel we are massively overdue for a suited red carpet moment. Taylor has previously worn a suit to the MTV VMAs - but that was a literal decade ago. I think it’s time to revisit the suit. We also know that Taylor has embraced over-the-top prints at this particular event in the past. Again, see: Incident 2.0. So a romantic floral (which is something she has worn many a time in the form of a tea-length fit/flare dress) seems very on brand. I would do a deep side part with old Hollywood waves, modern emerald-studded ear climbers, and a red lip.

Erdem Resort 2023: A kind of meeting in the middle between the Siriano and the Naeem Khan picks. A neutral colour palette but with romantic floral fabric and in a separates silhouette. This feels edgy but mature but feminine - all things that I think Taylor wants to accomplish in the here and now and specifically is appropriate for this particular awards ceremony. Tousled hair, smudged eyeliner and shadow, and a popsicle stained orange tangy lip with diamond studs and black diamond ear cuffs plus patent burgundy sandals would be my choices for styling.

K-pop Discography Deep Dives: Girls Generation / SNSD (Part TWO)

Here are my credentials: So, I’m absolutely a fan of Girls’ Generation, although I’m in that weird space where I’m more than a casual one yet not quite a SONE (a full fan), but just like with Sunmi, I have a feeling that this deep dive will make me one. I’ve heard almost all of their title tracks, and a decent amount of b-sides, but since they have over 100 songs, I’m sure I’ll find some new ones to love too. I’m also a fan of both Taeyeon and Tiffany’s solo careers.

I’m going to take a quick intermission to discuss some of SNSD’s Japanese releases here, which I don’t normally do. Mr Taxi, with its heavy autotune and electronic background, reminds me of a female version of SHINee’s Ring Ding Dong. One of the things I enjoy the most here (besides the roller disco, of course) is that the chorus is given space to breathe when they could’ve cut it for time. Time Machine is a sadder, slower song, and in lesser hands, it could be a snooze fest, but Girls’ Generation’s great voices turn it into a bonafide power ballad.

Paparazzi, as mentioned before, feels like it arrives on a red carpet rather than simply starts with its “ooh la la la”, which is perhaps fitting for a song about fame that features a snippet from Singing In The Rain. This one is probably my favorite of their songs in Japanese; it definitely takes inspiration from disco in the best way, and had me shaking my shoulders and wanting to get a pair of cat-eye sunglasses. Flower Power too is disco, but with a darker synth spin that feels more distinctly Japanese action movie.

Love & Girls takes after SNSD’s cutesier early discography with its colorful styling, poppy background, free-wheeling anti-drop summer chorus, sharp whistles, and peppy ad libs. Beep Beep too follows this thread, but I was won over, as I often am, with its catchy inclusion of several different languages (Italian, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and English) and fun comic book style illustrations. I also quite like its bridge and last chorus.

So, back to the Korean releases! Catch Me If You Can follows in the footsteps of The Boys and especially Run Devil Run. It has a surprisingly youthful and bubbly pre-chorus, that’s unfortunately followed by the mother of all anti–drops. Unlike in the other songs of theirs that have used one, though, Catch Me If You Can doesn’t do anything interesting with it, and ends up feeling like a dozen other songs. The post-chorus does help it, but overall the track feels incomplete.

PARTY sees Girls’ Generation dipping their toes into a summer fun track, which is new territory for their singles. It’s a little toothless when compared to such iconic and important tracks like Gee, I’ve Got A Boy, or Oh, but it’s still a fun time and it’s a nice break to see them looking so happy. It’s not ending up on my Top 10 list, but I’m not going to skip it if it comes up on shuffle.

Opposite from Genie, which I assumed was much later in their careers, I’d assumed that Lion Heart had been much earlier than 2015, though I’m not sure why. This time, they draw inspiration from doo wop, and turn it into a satire of midcentury love-at-first-sight rom coms. Besides the (as always) great clothes, the MV got some good chuckles out of me with its ridiculousness, over-the-top sound effects, and 60’s dance moves that look right out of a Get Smart episode.

You Think is about as different from Lion Heart as it’s possible to get, with a far more “girl crush” image and a hip-hop beat mixed with synthpop. Funnily enough, I’d actually heard this song’s chorus before (“you think you’re real cool?” “You’re NOT!”), but I didn’t know it was an SNSD song, so that was a nice surprise. It veers a little close to an anti-drop, but thankfully avoids it by the skin of its teeth.

From the Lion Heart album, I really liked the venture into chill bossa nova in One Afternoon, the appropriately vaudeville-style flair and sudden speed-up in Show Girls (which was my hidden gem), the synthy fun of Fire Alarm, and the background guitar in Green Light.

Holiday starts with a guitar riff and an energy that doesn’t slow down to catch its breath until its 3-and-a-half minutes are over. It’s a lot of fun, and immediately makes you want to get up and dance with your closest friends, and besides that, feels like a nice summer vacation for Girls’ Generation too; a new and improved version of Party with a sunny beat straight off a Broadway stage. I enjoyed it much more than I expected to, truth be told, and it went right into my music library.

All Night is the second single from the album, and, although it’s also a dancefloor track, it takes a more minimalistic, sleek approach. The chorus, though I did like it, felt a bit out of left field to me with its tempo change, and the rap likewise didn’t quite fit, but overall I liked this one too, especially the bridge. It’s always a pleasure to see drag queens covered in sparkles on my screen, alright?

From Holiday Night, though I did like the dancefloor citypop of Fan, the expert mix of happy and sad in One Last Time, and the jazzy flair of Love Is Bitter, you can’t do much better for a hidden gem than the confident, movie-soundtrack worthy, anthemic Girls Are Back, which I think perfectly captures the magic of SNSD. Can you really beat “we’re gonna break some hearts tonight, we’re gonna make some noise tonight?” Nope.

Lil’ Touch isn’t exactly a Girls’ Generation song, as it was released with only five of the members, but it’s basically considered one, so I included it. As their discography goes, it’s not the most unique, but it’s still quite solid. Part of that is due to the girls’ vocals, of course, which elevate whatever material they have, but the chorus is genuinely catchy and got stuck in my head. I think that if it wasn’t up against such heavy hitters in their other singles, it would be more highly regarded.

Besides Lil’ Touch, Forever 1 arrives both five years after SNSD’s last comeback and exactly fifteen after their debut with Into The New World, and arrive it does. This was the song that made me a fan of Girls Generation, and for good reason. From the “we’re not stopping!” to the utterly, delightfully sappy profession of love both to their fans and to each other to the “I will love you in my next life”, Forever 1 is a gleeful celebration of friendship and a decade and a half spent in an industry almost impossible to succeed in. Really, it’s everything I love about k-pop in one song, so how could I not love it?

From Forever 1, the album, I wasn’t sure what to choose as a hidden gem. There’s the nostalgic Seventeen, the fast-paced beat of Villain, the chill synths of Paper Plane, and the constant genre shifting of You Better Run (which harkens back to I Got A Boy). It’s a very strong return. Lucky Like That wasn’t technically a single but BTS footage was released as a special video to mark Girls’ Generation’s 16th anniversary. It’s a pretty standard pop song, truth be told, but with the video, it's undeniably charming and made me feel undeniably nostalgic. It was great to see them all smile and have fun performing together, and I wish more groups would have videos like this. I saved it for last, and it was a great place to end.

My Top 5 songs are Into The New World, Hoot, Lion Heart, Top Secret, and Girls Are Back with Show Girls, Love Is Bitter, and Goodbye as honorable mentions. Girls Generation gets a 9.25 out of 10 from me, which I’m not surprised about. There’s a reason I wanted this to be my first review of the new year, and it wasn’t just because they’re a huge group, but also because I had a feeling it would be a lot of fun.

The History of Streetwear in Pop Culture

Hey everyone, it's Adriana. 

Welcome back to this week's topic on streetwear in pop culture. Let's talk about how the upbringing of streetwear in the 90’s and how it’s grown into different styles meshed together to normalized clothing worn in streets. We might have seen celebrities start making streetwear trendy in appearances on the red carpet, movies, and music videos. Let's take it back and share some of our favorite moments in pop culture.

New York hip-hop fashion 

Aaliyah was a R&B singer from  Brooklyn, New York. She was well known for having a “tomboy” unisex look that made it acceptable to all in the 90s hip hop era of dance and music. She would be seen hanging around artists like TLC, Tupac, & others in what we would identify now as streetwear. Simply wearing casual everyday clothing but with a twist. 

Here is a favorite look of Aaliyah in a bandana, oversized varsity jacket and sporty pants with a belt and a long bedazzled chain.

Chicano streetwear

Mi Vida Loca (1993) is a drama indie film that portrayed young Hispanic women viewing their lives as gang members in Echo Park, Los Angeles. These women were everyday fighters in the streets of LA watching each other's backs.  In the film, you can view what streetstyle was meant for cholas. These women wore baggy or tight clothing, Nike Cortez shoes, high ankle socks, and big hoop earrings. This style became the norm within hispanic culture, since the film showed the culture of the beauty standards in chola women.

Freaky Friday (2003)

A fantasy-comedy film, a childhood favorite. One of my favorite outfits is Lindsay Lohan and her pairing of cargo pants (classic) with a slightly cropped graphic tank, and of course, a choker.

Thirteen (2003)

A film about a thirteen-year-old girl's relationship with her mother is put to the test as she discovers drugs, sex, and petty crime in the company of her cool but troubled best friend. Because of the film's low budget, the girls' clothes are mostly from their own wardrobe. Catherine Hardwick noted that as filming progressed, the girls began to dress similarly without being told to. This film created the idea of young good girls heading toward the direction of rebellion. The punk rock look played a part of the early 2000's. We love to see it now with brands like IAMGIA, Motel Rocks, and Forever 21, bringing back the low rise jeans, suede lace-up vests and body jewelry.

Kate Moss, model, is the queen of being versatile in her outfit choices. She can go from grunge to girly, to urban street style. Moss has had some iconic looks over the years. This time paparazzi spotted her in a casual vest, a tie, and chino shorts, with a hobo bag, strolling in London.

Japanese streetwear

FRUiTS magazine (1997) was a monthly Japanese street fashion magazine created by photographer Shoichi Aoki. Though FRUiTS magazine it covered styles found throughout Tokyo. Aoki captured cool people rocking the Harajuku style and found them to be most fashionable with the expressiveness shown walking in look worthy clothing. We enjoy the double layered graphic crewneck sweater. The plaid midi skirt with a pin, with a large Moschino tote bag ready to take on the day.

Californian Surf 

Baywatch (1989)

Pamela Anderson, she made wearing beach wear look so easy and effortless. Pamela turned beach wear swimsuit "cover up" the normal everyday wear. Typically, her look consisted of sexy and comfortable. Here she's seen wearing denim on denim. A cute button down oversized denim shirt tied to be cropped and cinched to the waist.  The iconic Levis 501 shorts with a cheeky slit near the pocket, and beaded shell jewelry. What a look!

School wear in LA

90210 (1990)

Brenda Walsh, Donna Martin, and Kelly Taylor were fashion icons in the TV series of a group of friends living in Beverly Hills, California as they all transition from high school to college and into the adult world. They always went shopping for clothes that they can afford and put together. During this time, fashion was very experimental while being classic especially as preppy as kids were in the hills. Most girls in the show, wore big t-shirts to school with overalls, blazers with skirts, long button down dresses. Big 90's hairstyles with fringe bangs and attempt to stay on trend.

Skateboarding Youth Culture 

Young adults and teens in the 90s featured in magazines like Alloy. Outfits featured in skate magazines redefined the aesthetic in streetwear. They were made for comfort while riding a skateboard in the streets, while also staying on trend. We got muscle tanks, UFO (parachute pants) Tight fitted graphic t-shirts, and chunky sneakers. This style is still being represented and recreated by women to this day even if they don't skate, it's still gives off I am probably wearing my boyfriends clothing core.

Sportswear Princess 

Princess Diana (left) became a muse in comfort casual clothing/ sporty chic style in the 90s. This photo is a side by side of two influential figures in pop culture making paparazzi catch photos of them wearing a similar outfit out in public and making it streetstyle. Hailey Bieber (right) making athleisure wear into the street. This kind of an outfit would be considered sporty, although you might just like the look of throwing on an oversized jumper, with some fun sneakers for a quick coffee run or errands.

Jennifer Lopez (2000) also known as JLO performance is always iconic for wearing avant garde looks when out in public. She has a mix of various looks while performing. This look started a trend in what women aspire to look and dress like. As we see many YouTube or TikTok tutorials on "stealing her style" recreating her throwback looks. Here's an iconic one we could see being brought back. Bronx baby tee, waist chain belt, parachute pants.

Charli XCX (2016). Performing in Berlin, Germany. We see more of an urban mix of style being introduced by celebrities on stage. Performers have toned it down for on stage presence and more for comfort while still showing style. Charli is from the United Kingdom and her biggest fashion influences are sporty chic, and tumblr girls from 2014 of #seapunk, #pale goth, and #y2k aesthetic.
