i updated my navigation post and i encourage everyone to read it, specifically the DNI section, and if you disagree with anything there, then please go ahead and unfollow me.

i want to be very intentional with my words so for full transparency: this is not a safe space for cc dickriders. for anyone who says "she's just here to hoop, other people are not her responsibility" or for anyone who says "cc has addressed x at y time" or any other variation of it. for racists and misogynists as a whole. let me be very clear when i say i do not give a fuck about what she did or did not say - i care that she "sets" these "boundaries" and never strictly enforces them. you cannot say "i don't condone racism" and then turn a blind eye when your fans call your colleagues slurs and every disgusting name under the sun. this is not a line you draw in the sand, this is a hill you HAVE to fucking die on.

the W is a league that deserves to expand, to grow, and to be appreciated. there are so many talented women that give their heart to this sport. but if growth means inviting these disgusting people into these communities, then ungrow the league. growth doesn't mean anything if the stands are full of slurs when a black woman is at the line for free throws. i see a lot of people argue that cc has taken a stance against it and that she does not support that so she is not responsible for their actions, but where is the urgency? if you truly wanted it shut down, you would say as such. as many times as it needs to be said. if you truly wanted it shut down, you would not want these people attaching themselves to your name to perpetrate hate, racism, and misogyny against the women that have built and grown and will continue to grow this league and this game.

on that note, this is not a safe space for even "casual" fans, cc or fever otherwise. you can sit here and claim you're just watching good basketball, just like cc is just here to hoop. there is never a "just" something. it takes an insurmountable amount of privilege to sit on your couch and distance from yourself from the very real prejudices that these women face daily, on court or otherwise. the politics of everyday life follow us everywhere and you cannot sit on the fence between one or the other. silence and neutrality are as good as opposition. being here "just" to watch or "just" to hoop just means that the racism, the silence, and the misogyny are not dealbreakers for you. it means you'd condone it as long as it entertained you.

you won't believe it. it's absolutely miki who initiates the first kiss. SKFJSJ i feel like essentially as me, miki captures a lot of the mostly-shy, sometimes-just fuck-it-we-ball essence of me lmao 😭 so that's exactly what it is, you know?

she's had just about enough of the push and pull, just about enough of the tension between them. it's a kiss that definitely doesn't happen for a while, and a also a kiss that definitely took a lot of tension to build up beforehand.

caleb and miki's relationship isn't perfect, maybe that's the picture that the first kiss paints really well. because when you stretch a cord too tight, it snaps.

an argument, probably. something about how caleb's always keeping things from her, something about how caleb's always doing so much for her and little for him, something about the self-deprecation and the fact that he can't seem to understand that she wants to be part of his life too, not just someone he wants to protect. usually she's quiet—usually she gives him the benefit of the doubt, usually she worries about him from afar because she doesn't want to make things worse.

this is going to sound SO SILLY but it's legitimately going to be the first time kaia ever successfully cooks something. which. ironic, isn't it? considering xavier's status in the kitchen? 😭

kaia might be less of a self-insert as miki is, but she still does have elements of me to her and one of those is... very unfortunately that we're both hazardous in the kitchen LMAO.

it's just a moment of the dish turning out okay, no fires started, nothing burnt—xavier's there watching her, and she turns, and there's this really really big smile on her face. it's probably something she's been trying to do for years. cooking takes a lot pf practice when it's not innate in you! but then this one turned out well, and so she's squealing jumping up and down throwing herself into xavier's arms, and he's more than happy to laugh with her.

twirls her around, sets her on the counter so he can look at her properly. probably there's a moment, the laughter dies down, he brushes the hair from her face a little... and you know how xavier's just very calming to look at? you can see it in his eyes even if he doesn't say anything. there's pride in there, and love, and adoration... all of it.

he does say it this time, though.

"i'm really proud of you."

it means more to kaia than the words of anyone else.

I'm reading your muse overview post. How is Danny an idiot? Does he struggle academically, or is it he has no drive/struggles in life, or is it something else entirely?

helloooo! honestly fair question, because all i do is call him an idiot 🤣 no he doesn't really struggle academically. he wasn't a straight A student or anything, be got a mixed bag of grades. he just didn't have much interest in school. he had a lot of energy, and wanted to be playing music not sitting in school. but he doesn't not know how to do things like geometry, or analyze a poem, or about us history. his idiocy is more of him just being ... a mix of oblivious and just the worst decision maker of all time. like don't get me wrong, he has his dumb moments. example: literally forgets that his name is legally daniel. he is so not used to anyone calling him it that he just won't process it at all. see meme for fun.

just about every wrong decision he can make? he makes it! bizare choice? he made it! he's very nice and he's very fun, but he's just a Lot. i call him an idiot affectionately, because he does mean well and he's very sweet. he's just terrible at making the right calls.

examples of his idiocy incase this doesn't make sense:

in one long established plot he was posed the option by his partner to either go to therapy to work through his trauma that he refused to admit impacts him .... or get divorced. he got divorced.

he quite literally will play his guitar while having serious conversations, and without it he's more prone to an overly defensive reaction or just a bad one ( in his defense, it does just sooth him. he feels most comfortable with his music. but it's also a coping mechanism he needs to address because my dude ... no )

the amount of times he's recklessly done backflips on stage after spraining his ankle doing it the night before

affectionally, he's a sl*t. has quite literally no standards. has gotten in the middle of many a fighting couple because he doesn't think if someone approaches him, he's just like oh okay. and then gets himself in so much hot water. all the time.

See with Zdarsky's run it was so unbearable and awful and sucked ass but there were other dd runs going on like Daredevil & Echo. Not only that, Ahmed is trying his best to work with this shit with the fault legit being having to continue off of zdarsky, boring, and the cane depiction. I was v close to just dropping dd but I'm willing to give the new run a chance. I have a stronger attachment to dd and it's characters other than matt so maybe that's why but I was close to going full dc and dmc. Plus Zdarsky's run (at least on tumblr) had a majority poor reception anyway. I'm down to ignore it and move on.

Mckay with Moon Knight?? Absolutely not. The mk system is DEAD (as far as we know) and now it's just continuing off while also grabbing niche hero characters and writing them in xenophobic and ableist ways. Reading a few panels alone has me so uninterested esp when I mostly enjoyed the original mk comics. MK was a second fav but now I'm just dropping it completely and not looking forward to read another run again nor engage in any mk media. It's just a headache to think about at this point.

being alone on Christmas Eve for Sarah pls 🥺

It’s dark and the air is bitterly cold as Sarah steps off the bus. Perhaps it will snow tonight, she thinks to herself, pulling her coat tighter across her body.

“Merry Christmas,” Sarah hears the bus driver call, and manages a smile for him that vanishes the instant she turns around.

Adjusting her backpack on her shoulder, Sarah digs around in her coat pocket for the key to her apartment. She checks her mailbox on the way up, more out of habit than expecting anything to actually be there.

Just a couple of ads and a bill.

Merry Christmas.

She would have worked tonight, if she could. But she’d opted for an on-call tomorrow night, and a shift the night after and had already volunteered to work on New Year’s.

It’s not like there was any reason to take the time off, anyway.

The fridge is almost entirely bare - a bottle of milk a quarter full, half a cucumber, a couple of plums, a container of soup leftover from the night before.

She makes a mental note to go shopping in the morning, then stops. Everything will be closed tomorrow. Idiot.

She takes out the soup, letting it warm in the microwave while she unwinds the scarf from around her neck, tossing it over the back of a chair.

The microwave pings and Sarah transfers the soup to a bowl, grabbing a spoon and heading for the couch. Allowing the soup to cool slightly, she checks her phone. No notifications.

No calls, no texts.

She wonders what her mother is doing at this very moment. Probably at a dinner party with some high flying city slicker or other. She wonders what her ex is doing (nothing good, most likely), and how it is she has not even one friend to call, or who would think to call her.

Her soup is getting cold.

Sarah tosses her phone to the other end of the couch, repulsed, and picks up the TV remote, flicking through the channels.

A newsreader is showing footage of people preparing for Christmas around the world.

With a sigh, Sarah turns the TV off. She finishes her soup in silence, save for the clinking of the spoon against the bowl.

Rinsing her bowl in the sink, she looks out of the window, noting the rosy glows coming from many of the windows of the apartment block across the road. Fairy lights no doubt, Sarah thinks. Her own apartment is dark. There’s no tree, no decorations, no cookies baking in the oven, no presents to be wrapped.

It’s just another day, she tells herself unconvincingly.
