Mirror Magic Reflection || Self reflection leads to many things... self-identity being one of them...and even though the path to Self is an individual journey, there is an undeniable awareness of a connection to The Whole, the community that provides a context to which we can identify. Many of us, specifically of African descent, suffer from identity complexes because our culture, not just the fashionable parts, but the lifestyle, cosmology, the practice and systems that we once knew have been stripped away. #RP @mirrormagic_is - - - - - - Reflections || When @jas_photo and I went through the selection process for the Mirror Magic: Way Up gallery, there was a whole section of pics that he noticed I skipped over. Mirror Magic || I remember the first time I truly had to remove myself and press a big fat pause button on the path I was on. I had gotten to a point where doors were closing and I was being confronted with several disruptions that ultimately led me back to a place that I had been running from. I had to cut some serious ties, I got really quiet and I isolated myself. I learned that sometimes we get married to these ideas of what we’re supposed to be doing, who we’re supposed to be, not paying attention to the present, to the chaos, to the signs... As scared as I was at the time, cuz yeah, change ain’t for the punk-hearted, it was one of the best decisions I had made for myself. Trust me when I tell you, you cannot run from yourself.
