Homestuck Fancomic - CALL FOR HELP!

Hello hello, Tumblr!! I, TT, am the author of Apocalypse Abandon hosted on MSPFA!

This is a post asking for help with said comic! Currently, I am looking for a background artist, and anyone familiar with CSS/HTML coding! The work should be fairly simple however I do not have the income to pay a wage or anything like that. You will never be trapped working on it, though, and you are so free to back out any time!

Even if you believe yourself to be bad/average/etc at those skills, I would still love to have you on board if you want to expand them and improve along with me and the rest of the team (of uh.. two people right now haha). Below the cut is a short plot summary (without too many spoilers) and a few pieces of art (art will come as it is made and be uploaded here) you can peruse to see if you'd be interested in helping out. If not, i humbly request your reblog so I can find ppl who are :3

Apocalypse Abandon is a fancomic taking place (originally) on Earth C. It is very much meant to mimic Homestuck and sort of bring back some of the nostalgia of the Early Days whilst still showing a new, interesting story! It starts four main characters at first: Jule Jackson, Cris Warner, Xael Grison, and Remy Lalonde. These four, on the 13 of April 202X, are alerted by the Godtiers that it is their turn to save the universe by creating a new one. Despite half of the party (Xael and Cris) living in a post-apocalyptic Earth C overtaken by plant life, they manage to make it work! Jule is a gentle young lady with a green thumb and a love of crafts. She is the most active online and the youngest of the bunch. She is both clever and kind, a Sylph of Time, a savior. Cris is a bookworm, and even lives in a library! He is a big fan of Rose's work, having read everything she ever wrote on her adventures and SBURB. He is strict and precise, a Knight of Mind, an archivist. Remy is the "son" of Roxy Lalonde. He is a direct genetic replica of her, and yet tries his best to be his own person. He is not so fond of his mother, who has fallen victim to existentialism and back into bad habits. She has become something of a mad scientist these days, mixed with a cat lady. Remy is a shy and mindful young boy, he doesn't know what is future holds. A Page of Void, an opportunity. Xael is a little rascal, sometimes seeming more animal than human. That’s exactly how he likes it! He scavenges for food, chipping his teeth on bones, and sleeping soundly curled up in the catacombs. He is ravenous and rabid, a Prince of Doom, a destroyer.

I dont have a TON of the plot planned out, as I prefer to write as we go along. I am always open to suggestions from anyone and happy to co sider them!!

Remi Rambles 1: Responsibility and Diligence - The Difficulty of it All

does anyone else know that one meme where there's a teacher in a music theory class captioned "come on it's not rocket science" and then on the bottom image it's a teacher in a rocket science class going "come on it's not music theory" like i get it's supposed to be a joke but it just makes me think about how subjective we determine the difficulty of something.

like yeah thats a given, but if you really think about it, it's really cool, and weird. because two ppl from completely different backgrounds can also find this one thing easy but someone else finds it difficult and it just blows my mind. and i find it interesting to observe this in the way people practice morals.

i feel like the only reason i find it interesting is because so many people that i know are responsible and actually do their requirements for school, studying for exams and quizzes, yk everything, but i find it so difficult to do that for whatever reason. call it the burned out gifted kid effect but i do know how to study i just dont. do it often. bc i assume everything will be alright and did not actually experience the consequences of my laziness, and i still dont.

yeah im doing average in school and i could get better grades and i want to do that, but at the same time, why should i? where do these people find the motivation to do good in school? they say it's out of necessity or urgency because if they dont then they'll get punished but i feel like?? that's the way to more burnout??? and i dont really ever get punished for low grades so i cant use that as motivation.

someone once said, that responsibility is the standard to which we do what is expected of us, and going the extra mile just means you know very well what is asked of you so you do it well. like say, and i apologize for the odd analogy, if someone asks a banana from you: giving them the banana is you being responsible, but peeling the banana for them means you know that they're hungry so you're being extra responsible. they explained it better than i did but you get the general gist, right?

so, i guess the question i need to ask is: "what is expected of me as a student?" because i get good-average grades, but most people would call me lazy and would not entrust any major assessments from me (but i guess that's just because i submit things late). but in the rare occasions that i do submit on time, most people would still call me "smart but lazy" and. i dont know. it's just odd because most people would definitely not call me a particularly responsible student even if i submitted early.

and ive thought of it, and even if i got better grades, they would not call me a particularly responsible student. so, once again, that leads us to the question: "what is the responsibility of (or standards for) a student?"

it's not to get good grades, because i do that, i still learn but people would just call me attentive instead of responsible. and maybe it's to show due diligence in my studies?

because when you think about it, most people would call someone who follows their schedule and exceeds expectations as "responsible" because they go the extra mile in their responsibility as a student. but maybe diligence is the key so that i can get people off my back..?

diligence is a thing that i find... scary to apply in my studies. because then it'll be really hard to find that work-life balance since i tend to get carried away in my pursuits, and once again, burnout.

i guess what i can try to do is think that my schedule is for the whole year to make sure that im not too engrossed in it and allow some more room for fun.

eden — as you mentioned before, jason voorhees. the man that stalks the woods would be exactly like the slasher who stalks the woods. i’d also throw in michael myers. eden in game acts like a pseudo boogeyman already. he will hunt you in town (it’s unfortunate that he comes during times where i can’t go with him smh). plus i imagine eden to just be this big hulking man like both of them.

harper — someone from the facility from the cabin in the woods. they definitely uses the hair dye thing where they used hair dye to make one of the characters think less. i can see them doing this in game.

briar — lestat de lioncourt. idk if interview with a vampire counts as horror but regardless, briar as a vampire? someone who stalks his prey at night and seduces them before biting into them? shivers.

a while ago i was fantasizing about like, the boromir-arwen side of the love triangle and decided i thought their dynamic could be incredible (two chivalrous courtly lovers who bond over their destiny-riddled third half) so i give arwen plenty of time in the spotlight in that fic as well

as for boromir and aragorn, they are as dramatic as ever
