The Ultimate Guide to Routine Car Maintenance for Renault Owners
Owning a Renault car is an exciting experience, but regular maintenance is key to keeping it running smoothly for years. Whether you're a new Renault owner or have been driving one for years, this guide to routine car maintenance will help you understand the essential tasks needed to keep your Renault in top condition. From basic checks to professional servicing, we'll cover it all in simple language so you can keep your Renault running like a dream.
Tumblr media
Regular Oil Changes: One of the most crucial aspects of routine maintenance is ensuring your Renault has clean oil. Regular oil changes help lubricate the engine, reduce friction, and prevent wear and tear. Make sure to schedule oil changes at your nearest Renault workshop to keep your engine running smoothly. Search for "Renault car servicing near me" to find the closest service centre for your convenience.
Checking Fluid Levels: Your Renault relies on various fluids, including coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid, to function correctly. Regularly check these fluid levels and top them up as needed. Low fluid levels can lead to overheating, brake failure, or transmission issues, so keeping them topped up is essential.
Inspecting tyres: Proper tyre maintenance is vital for both safety and performance. Check tyre pressure regularly and ensure it matches the recommended levels in your Renault's manual. Additionally, inspect the tread depth and look for signs of wear or damage. If you notice uneven wear, it might be time for a wheel alignment. Your local Renault workshop can assist with tyre inspections and replacements.
Battery Health: Your Renault battery is essential for starting the engine and powering various electrical components. Inspect the battery terminals for corrosion and ensure they're securely connected. If your battery is more than three years old, consider having it tested or replaced to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
Brake System Maintenance: Your safety depends on reliable brakes, so it's crucial to maintain them regularly. Check brake pads and rotors for wear and tear and replace them if necessary. Additionally, have your brake fluid flushed according to your Renault's maintenance schedule to ensure optimal braking performance.
Addressing Warning Lights: Modern Renault vehicles have various warning lights to alert you to potential issues. Pay attention to these warnings; address them promptly by visiting your nearest Renault workshop for diagnostics and repairs. Ignoring warning lights could lead to more significant problems down the road.
Professional Servicing: While basic maintenance tasks can be performed at home, scheduling professional servicing at regular intervals is essential. A qualified technician at your Renault workshop can conduct comprehensive inspections and address any underlying issues before they escalate. Regular servicing ensures your Renault's longevity and maintains its warranty validity.
Conclusion:
Routine car maintenance is the key to ensuring your Renault performs reliably for years. By following this ultimate guide and staying proactive with your maintenance tasks, you can enjoy a smooth and trouble-free driving experience. Remember to search for "Renault car servicing near me" to find your nearest service centre and schedule regular servicing to keep your Renault in top condition.

Chapter 1: Hi, Society
"Everyone who lives in Monaco is filthy rich."
Well, that's a half-lie that people say; the working class also lives there - and the families of the people who work for the rich - just on the outskirts of town near the border with France.
Yours is one of those: a middle-class family of three (you, dad, and your dog). So, a chunk of your day goes to commuting downtown to attend school and help with the auto parts shop, your family-run business.
You had the misfortune (now you call it that!) to have been raised by a hardcore motorsports madman in what you consider one of the most F1 households of all time in the most F1 city in the world.
That madman is your dad, a middle-aged man who is apparently good-looking (judging by the attention he gets from female customers; okay, he is in shape; you get that part) but has remained single for the longest time.
He is a hard-working mechanic who invested all his inheritance in opening an automobile repair shop and a twin business, an auto parts and components store located on the same street, which seems logical.
You are one of those households that loves everything related to cars and motorsports, a trait you inherited in your cells from birth.
Yes, yes, you are a "daddy's girl." It's embarrassing, but he's your hero.
Thanks to him, you were that "weird" little girl at elementary school who could name all the parts of a car's engine and their exact functions. By high school, you could explain the mechanics and physics behind a motor, and you were able to repair and customize cars and motorbikes by your senior years.
-
Daydreaming was a fundamental part of your childhood and still is, but nowadays, the therapist calls it MaDD or trauma coping.
Back in the day, you loved sneaking into the driver's seat of any expensive sports car the clients took to the workshop for repair. You imagined it morphing into a racing car as you drove it to high speeds on a race track.
Of course, you always ended up winning the Grand Prix! And that fantasy lasted until either one of the mechanics or your dad got you out of the unit.
-
By the time you turned eight, your family made an effort to take you karting. It's costly, way more complex than you expected, and also heavy on the body!
You always ended up exhausted after practice or racing, but you didn't care because you were killing the game, impressing people along the way, and winning piles of trophies!
After several years of success, you got sponsored and made it to Formula Renault, where you winning was also a regular thing.
Then, you continued to Formula 4, where you started to succeed, too. By that point, you were utterly invested in your racing career, working hard to make your dream come true and make your parents proud.
But that sad September, your mom got sick.
-
After her passing, nothing was quite the same, and your racing dreams got buried along with her, leaving you and your dad an emotional and financial wreck, with a lot of debt in the bank due to her treatments.
-
"Time heals everything,"
That's another half-lie people tell.
You never get over a loss of that kind, but you learn to live your life the best way possible and try to find joy after it.
-
So, as you go through your teen years, you feel as if your life is starting over, as someone else has lived your past.
You choose to help more with the family business after noticing your father is tired and stressed every day and wanting to be there for him.
You take full responsibility for running the auto parts and components store. After school, you go there, and that's where you practically live.
The shop is in an old part of town; it used to be a cheap neighborhood, but it's not anymore, still not the most luxurious town area, but the location is excellent.
As the business grew, the shop underwent several remodels - more like improvements - made by your uncle Marco (your late mom's brother), your godfather, who works in construction.
The store is now bright, clean, and organized. It has tall white walls with blue accents (the ones you helped paint), a neat grey polished concrete floor where you can almost watch your reflection, and pendant lights in the ceiling over the aisles full of product racks. Several pennants and large posters give the place character.
Most of the time, you are behind the long counter with the cashier and computer by the entrance, where you run the stock, attend customer payments, do your homework, and watch Netflix (on slow days).
Next to you is always your dog - with his bed and bowl - and behind you is an entire wall of shelves with premium products.
The store's most recent and exciting acquisition is a new set of automatic slide doors and a large welcoming rug with the business logo.
God! How boring is your life?!
Still, you are grateful for those; before that, on busy days, you wanted to tear your ears off at the nonstop sound of the bell atop the door.
The store is at the corner of the street, and the large workshop is two buildings away across the road.
Both are different from your usual mechanic's spots; yes, there is still oil in some parts, but this is Monaco, after all! If you want to attract clients in this city, you must look nice.
Your dad lives and breathes at the workshop.
Your household is one of those that leaves the family home very early in the morning and returns at night to sleep.
-
As things get financially healthier again, your dad and godfather work hard to renovate the shop's attic slash old storage space into a tiny apartment for you.
It's a simple but cozy open-floor concept: a one-bedroom with a kitchenette and counter bar for two stools, a sitting area with a bulky love seat and a TV.
Your desk is next to the bay window facing the street, which offers a sky view, making this your favorite spot to study.
A queen-size bed with a nightstand completes the space, along with the door leading to the world's tiniest bathroom.
You love this rabbit hole so much.
Your dad and godfather allowed you to choose the style of decor and furniture (you went for minimal and boho), and now you love this place more than your actual home (a more spacious two-and-a-half-bedroom apartment with a small balcony nearer the mountains).
-
As you grow older and reach legal age, you start doing everything at the shop by yourself, saving the money spent on extra hands.
From cleaning to stock control, acting like a sales lady and the store influencer, posting social media content, updating the website once you convinced your dad to sell online, and taking care of your dog, now the business mascot.
People love him! He always gets pats on the head from customers, and some return just for him. He is a lazy old basset hound named "Diesel."
You must ensure that Diesel wears his bandana with the shop's logo daily, as it is his official employee uniform. He is your childhood dog, and the idea of losing him makes you anxious.
-
By this point in your life, you speak fluent "mechanic" which should be considered an entire language, thanks to growing up surrounded by them.
Depending on the photo, you may smile or laugh when you open your childhood photo albums.
There are many pictures from your birthday parties held at the workshop. In them, you appear surrounded by alpha males with tattoos, beards, and muscles wearing girly birthday props as you blow the candles off a Barbie-inspired cake or whatever was trendy with girls back then, with the entire place usually decorated in glittery pink party decor.
That's your life in a nutshell.
-
Nowadays, since you are a full-grown woman in their eyes, they act overprotective of you, especially when a boy your age tries to flirt with you while buying something with their parent's credit card.
But they get it so wrong! You don't recall when or how, but you started to get attracted to men, not boys, older men.
That middle-aged group of guys that make you beg, "Please run me over with your sports car," as you stare at them driving as they pass across the store's big windows facing the street.
You love the roaring sound of the engine, but you love the view of the handsome man driving it even more.
Still, it's just a fantasy; those guys are completely out of your league, and well, you haven't had a social life, not even a suitor in all these years, and you have never had a boyfriend. Maybe it's your shy nature or your looks that you feel so insecure about.
-
In the last couple of days before graduation, many universities show up to promote their college programs in a sort of Open Day.
You avoid the Grand Prix Elite Academy people like they have the plague, knowing that's a dream you can't afford.
And they know it, too!
You can tell by the look the extremely hot model-looking Student Affairs ladies give you when you succumb to the temptation to get closer to their stand.
You nervously step in front of them without saying a word and leave after they rudely and unwantedly hand you a brochure with all the information about the program, tuition, and more.
They both look annoyed at their employers for making them attend a school without potential clients.
-
You remove your shoes and drop your backpack on the floor when you arrive at your loft. As you get cozy on the bulky, puffy couch, you muster the courage to read the brochure.
"Grand Prix Elite Academy is the ultimate path to success in the world of motorsports.
Our program is an exclusive Formula One college degree designed for aspiring drivers who dream of pursuing a career in professional racing.
This program offers unparalleled training and mentorship from seasoned professionals, personalized coaching from world-class racing experts, access to state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge simulators, and networking opportunities with industry leaders.
This degree aims to cultivate the skills and mindsets of future champions. It's the ultimate platform for developing the aptitudes, knowledge, and connections necessary to reach the pinnacle of motorsports.
Drive to Greatness. Race with us."
After reading the entire brochure a hundred times and eyeing all the pictures, subjects, and prices attached, you can't help but cry until you fall asleep.
-
After several texts to your number, getting no reply, and two missed phone calls, your dad goes up to the shop's loft to look for you, now worried.
The day is over, and you two should head home soon to avoid traffic. He always texts you when it's time to leave, and you rush down to the shop's exit to get in the car.
As he approaches the sofa to wake you up, he notices the GPEA brochure on the floor next to you and places it inside his leather satchel.
He doesn't mention anything to you about it at dinner or later.
-
The summer break begins, and soon, you will become a college freshman.
You applied for several engineering college programs within your budget, in town, or nearby.
You still want to work at Formula One, and if you can't get a driver's seat, you aim for a team's chair.
-
You have been nervous the entire week, knowing the acceptance letters will soon arrive. You are crossing your fingers they aren't rejection ones.
You get accepted in three out of four!
A part of you expected a positive outcome since you have always been a nerd with good grades; plus, you felt you scored the admission tests and nailed the interviews.
However, when the postman appears at the store again, you look at him perplexed as he hands you a fancy and unexpected additional envelope.
It's good your dad is having lunch with you at the counter at that exact moment to clarify your doubts.
—What is this?! —your voice goes all high as you walk fast and nervously to him, showing him the Grand Prix Elite Academy logo stamp on the envelope.
—Listen, don't get mad at me —your dad puts down the fork and stops eating for a moment to face you. —Wait to get your hopes up high yet —He starts to calm you down, noticing how you are hyperventilating now. —Read it first.
—WHAT?!!
—Y/N, breathe, easy...
You tear the envelope with shaky hands and quickly scan the letter's content.
—AH! —a funny scream comes out of your mouth, and you look at your dad with wide eyes before pushing him into a tight hug, a bit brusquely. —I GOT IN! I GOT THIS YEAR'S SCHOLARSHIP!! —you fucking can't believe it. —BUT HOW!?!!
—I applied for you, well, I pretended to be you; I disliked being an annoying girl —he rolls his eyes at you, joking. —After that, I sent the board an email explaining our situation; as your father now obviously —he looks a bit embarrassed at his confession. —It's good that I documented your entire and promising racing career. I know how important this is for you. I'm sorry that we cannot afford it on our own. I know you have the talent and deserve that scholarship more than anyone! Thank God they went all charity on your ass!
You laugh, and happy tears run down your face. Your dad hasn't seen you this happy, not since mom...
—OH GOD!
—What?! —your dad's heart skips at your words.
—It says I must register ASAP for the virtual classroom since I didn't attend the in-person summer program. Jesus! I just got in, and I'm already behind! —you rush to the computer, and before logging in, you say: —Dad, I love you; you have nothing to apologize for!
-
As the countdown to the start of the academic year goes on, your nervousness levels increase.
You get more hysteric each day, and your dad already regrets his actions.
Billions of thoughts cross your mind daily: What if they don't like me? What if I end up failing? Am I good enough? What I'm going to wear? This attire list is so pretentious. What's a smart-casual look? I don't own any gowns!
OH GOD!
-
A heavy box arrives at the shop by mail.
It's your welcome package to the academy. Inside, you find a gorgeous and expensive-looking varsity jacket, the college's cashmere sweater, and many more branded items.
It also contains an extensive list of things you need to do before the start of the year, instructions for your first day, and a textbook of rules.
Your scholarship sponsor is WomanOne, which supports girls around the globe in completing their college degrees.
You feel so empowered that you swear to do your best and conquer the game!
Your grades and performance are crucial for them, so you must win the most Elite Cup races you can.
-
Two days later, another envelope arrives; this time is an invitation for the Homecoming Gala; the paper feels fancy as fuck!
The event is scheduled two nights before the start of the course, and it's mandatory, which you find hilarious.
You have never been obliged to attend a fancy party before.
-
A few days later, a push notification informs you you have two new DMs on the GPEA app (the official college app they requested you to download and register on).
After filling out and completing the procedures to set up your profile for the driver's market, the Ferrari and Aston Martin principals want to interview you on the virtual platform since you now appear available to be picked or to apply for a faculty slot.
Shit is getting real!
-
—She looks too sweet for this brutal land; I hope she survives here —Lewis says as he leans closer to peek at Sebastian's iMac screen.
They volunteered at the Student Affairs Department this year to obtain the mandatory extra credits. Well, Sebastian applied for the job and dragged Lewis along, as usual.
As they both look at the student picture you upload on the platform; then, Seb starts to copy out your data to print your access badge.
—Is she on the market yet?
—Yes. All the faculty principals have received her profile, but so far, only Ferrari and Aston have booked an interview with her. She applied to join the McLaren faculty, though.
—Interesting. So, no words from Zack?
—Not yet. You know how it is, my dear scholarship king. Y/N looks really promising. Are you feeling nervous about it? Now someone wants to take the full scholarship prodigy title away from you —Seb teases.
—By this rookie, you wish! —Lewis tenderly slaps Sebastian's face, a bit sexual still. —Everyone is after my titles anyway, as well as my sexy good looks. Are you feeling nervous about it?
—You wish! She doesn't have what I give you —it's Seb's turn to state; that light touch was enough to turn him on.
—Oh, please, could you remind me what you give me? —Lewis teases, a bit aroused.
—Oh, I can show you —Seb gets dangerously close to him, slowly pushing him against the office desk.
-
You are so grateful the full scholarship covers the on-campus living fee and secures you a dorm room.
The GPEA is so far from your house that commuting there would be a nightmare. Thanks, Google Maps, for the info!
Now you know you have to leave tomorrow with time to spare to be on time for the Homecoming Gala.
That night, you struggle to fall asleep. It's the anxiety about tomorrow's party. You pray to God that somehow you fit in.
-
As the moonlight dances upon the glistening waters of Monaco's coastline, the college's luxury campus emerges with opulence.
Tonight, the GPEA is hosting the most glamorous Gala to mark the commencement of a new school year; to your eyes, it's a scene of total excess and splendor.
Nothing as you have seen before!
Party lights dance and illuminate the facades of the campus buildings, casting vibrant and cool designs on the walls.
The garden's magnificent palm trees sway gently under the warm Mediterranean breeze, their leaves aglow with the enchanting hues of the illuminations.
The campus's modern architecture, a seamless blend of money and elegance, looks like an oasis adorned with meticulously manicured gardens, flowers, and fountains.
The soft sound of water cascading brings a sense of tranquility amidst the muffled DJ's set music coming out of the celebration.
As you are about to reach the building entrance, you notice the long parade of the most luxurious cars, gracefully chauffeuring guests who descend with elegance, sporting breathtaking gowns from renowned designers and dapper men wearing impeccably tailored tuxedo suits.
-
This homecoming Gala looks straight out of Gossip Girl.
As you step onto the red carpet, you can feel the electric buzz, radiating a contagious energy that sets the exhilarating tone for the party.
It looks like it is going to be a wild night.
And you are correct. The clinking glasses of champagne get louder as the evening progresses, and the party ensues.
The crowd consists of beautiful, fit, and effortlessly stylish students exuding an air of confidence and superiority.
Despite your striking look in a fancy dress, you can't shake the feeling of being an outsider among the elite.
-
As you move around in the ballroom with a glass in hand, you notice a figure that stands out: Toto Wolff, wearing an impeccably Brioni tuxedo and exuding charm and charisma.
His striking features, towering height, and muscular body immediately command your attention. Your gaze draws towards him, entirely captivated by his physical features and confident presence among the sea of people.
You can't help but stare at him; he is pure eye candy.
"So, this is what genuine attraction feels like?" you think.
You go all red when you notice a stunning set of clear eyes are watching you, lusting for Toto.
—No worries. It's the usual reaction Toto gets. We've all been there, I guess. I'm Leandra de Vries! I'm a Ferrari somophore —a stunning, lean girl with legs for days and perfect hair greets you.
Wow, that's having a face card! Her nose is to die for, and Jesus, those eyes! She looks tan, and her "gold" skin is silky and shiny.
"I need to moisturize!" you think instantly, comparing yourself.
—I'm Y/N Y/LN —you quickly add. —That's a beautiful dress, Leandra!
—It's vintage Dior; they don't make them like this anymore —she shows you her breathtaking embroidered gown, extending her long, athletic leg. —You look good, even with that thing you are wearing! No offense; you better get used to these kinds of comments. Let's say this place requires thick skin; my advice: never take it personally.
—Oh, thanks, I guess?! —you both laugh.
—Is it from Zara? —Leandra comes closer to whisper to your ear, curious and disgusted at the time, but with comedic timing.
—Yes! —you answer, holding a giggle.
—Oh god! Please remind me to get you in my wardrobe; I have a couple of pieces you so desperately need —she smiles at you and intertwines her right arm with yours.
—Please! —you beg and smile at her.
—Let's walk around! —she invites you.
So far, you like Leandra. Although she may look like a mean girl, she is well-intended, empathic, and honest. She doesn't hold back, and that's your type of person.
She tells you she got transferred here from the Italy campus the year before - after her older brother passed away in that polemic crash at Monza, and because her parents wanted to start fresh, trying to run from what happened - she states it was tough for her to settle in and be accepted here.
She also explains that the social circles here are very airtight, so she wants you to experience something other than what she went through.
—This place loves gossip, and you are the talk of the moment, "the charity baby who got the Lewis scholarship" —Leandra lets out like it was a bother, almost rolling her eyes while walking you to the bar area.
-
—So that's the new "Charity Baby"? She's cute!
—Where!? —Lando pops his head behind Oscar after his comment.
—There, with Leandra —he points.
—How does that woman get even hotter each year?! Fuck, she looks so fuckable in that dress! —Lando undresses Lea with his eyes.
—Getting an erection this early on? That's a new record for you —Max jokes, staring at him.
Leandra starts to lead you both in their direction. The group is gathered around the large velvet sofa in the fancy sitting area near the bar.
When you two arrive at their side, you overhear George leading the conversation.
—She is still out of your league, mate —George mocks him. —But how did it go with Arabella?
—Oh, she was delicious; I fucked her in the gym's pool. Her ass feels terrific! —Lando lets them know the gossip.
—Arabella is the blonde with the great tits? —Max inquires.
—No, no, that's the Mercedes girl, the one I fucked in the library.
—And you also fucked the librarian.
—And the trainer's assistant.
—And the Human Resources lady.
Everyone keeps adding.
—Better be getting ready for Lando's disappointing dick game —Carlos jokes with you as soon as he notices you standing there in complete silence and addressing you for the first time.
Everyone turns their head towards you.
You go all red.
—I mean, if you want, I'm available tonight —Lando shoots his shot, shamelessly flirting with you and reaching for your hand.
—And welcome! —Sebastian jokes from a distance, comfy wrapped in Lewis's arms on the sofa.
—Lando, you fuck everything that breathes —Yuki states impressed.
—It's cus' I got dick game, to Carlos' jealousy.
Out of nowhere, you notice Lance standing right to your left. —I heard you are working class and got here under a full scholarship like Lewis did. Is that true?! —Lance inquires, curious and with a sweet voice, but his wording is not the best.
—Yes, I'm from a middle-class family —you shyly reply. —We own a car repair workshop, and I work there.
Lance's face looks amazed. Sebastian notices his and your expressions and doesn't waste time.
—Lance, you can't ask people that! You know some people work for a living? God, you are so out of touch! Excuse him —Seb joins in.
—Yeah, unlike you, the people's people —Lewis mocks Seb, pointing at him and roughly combing his hair, then Lewis gives you a "these guys" face and winks at you. —They don't mean it —Lewis lets you know. —Welcome, welcome! I'm L-
—Lewis Hamilton, yes, I know, you are a legend —you look at him in awe.
He is the only one who gets it, who gets you.
He is as rare as you. His family famously worked their butts off to get him here before he got offered a full scholarship like yours and became the scholarship program and the GPEA prodigy.
No one has won more trophies and cups in the history of the college than him.
Mercedes already hired him as their reserve driver and offered him a contract as the future of their F1 racing team, the most expensive deal ever for a rookie. They are just waiting for Michael to retire.
-
After lots of chatting, dancing, joking around, and getting to know a bit of everyone in that little group, Principal Zack reaches you. —Miss, Y/LN. Can we have a word, please?
—Of course! —you interrupt your conversation with Oscar and go to him.
After walking around and casually chitchatting a bit, he informs you: —I appreciate your request to join our faculty, but unfortunately, it's impossible for us now. We noticed your career resume has a long hiatus, which puts you behind our other candidates. However, we will closely watch your performance this year, and maybe you can ask again next year —Zack politely kills your dream to drive for them momentaneously. —You have a promising future, you are talented, and I wish you the best.
—Oh, bummer! But I understand, sir. I will do my very best!
You make it back to the group, but since they love to dish, they all were observing the scene from afar and interpreting your expressions, betting their money wasn't good.
—And? —Yuki asks.
—Not McLaren.
—I'm sorry, it's their loss! —Mick comforts you. By far, he is the most kind and polite of the bunch. It must be tough to grow up under his dad's shadow; maybe that's why he is so empathic with the outcasts.
—I haven't heard from Aston or Ferarri after my interviews either —you look slightly concerned now.
—Give it a time —Seb reassures you.
—Oh god, it's too early to endure a Masi speech. No one is drunk enough yet! —Lewis cuts the chat, looking straight at the man getting up on the fancy and tech stage, lit out under professional lightning; a massive state-of-the-art Samsung screen is behind him, showcasing the academy and its sponsor's logos.
—Does anyone feel like powdering their nose in the bathroom before the speech begins? —Carlos offers.
—Count me on, babe! Do you want to join us? Being high as a kite is the best way to enjoy this party —Leandra addresses you.
—Oh! No, no, thank you —you quickly deny with your arms.
—Hey, don't go hard! I brought mushrooms for all of us later —Max adds, and they nod in sync.
Okay, this is going nothing like you expected.
-
"Good night, esteemed faculty, staff, and enthusiastic students. As the Dean, I am honored to address you at the start of this new academic year at the Grand Prix Elite Academy. We are here united by a shared passion for speed, engineering, and the excitement of Formula One racing.
Our college stands as a unique institution dedicated to preparing the next generation of brilliant minds and innovative professionals in the motorsport industry.
This academic year holds incredible opportunities for growth, learning, and discovery, and I encourage each and every one of you to embrace the challenges, cultivate your skills, and push the boundaries of knowledge in this exhilarating field.
Let us fuel our enthusiasm, collaborate synergistically, and pave the way to new frontiers of excellence together. I extend a warm welcome to all and look forward to an extraordinary year ahead.
Thank you."
A lazy round of applause comes from the crowd, but minutes before that, about the middle of the speech, Leandra stands by your side. —Do you want to know all the tea about Toto? —noticing how your eyes went all over him once more.
He is up on the stage with all the principals from the different faculties. It's nothing new, but you are experiencing it for the first time.
—Well —you hesitate. —Yes.
—He has remained single for a while now, more like fucking around, actually. Toto has a type: blond bombshells, the supermodel type, you know, with insane bodies. I'm friends with two of his conquests, and one told me he fucks like a bull. He likes it hard and rough, and the other let me know he has a delicious fat cock but that he hits it and quits it; he left her begging for more.
You blush at her words, which she instantly notices, before continuing: —Last I witnessed with my own gorgeous eyes, Toto was hooking up with Anitta at that fancy Ferrari's anniversary party; she was all over him; it was a great party, we all got smashed! I ended up cowgirling Dani on the back of his car, oops.
You hit playfully Leandra in the ribs with your elbow while looking at Ricciardo standing meters away. —Daniel is hot!
—And a moron! Ah, right! Toto went through a very public divorce about a year ago; it was the talk of the town. The Wolff's splitting, OH! The elites went wild! His ex-wife is a counselor here, so you will see her around; they have a weird relationship. I think they still fuck.
Okay, this is a lot of information, but one thing is sure: you are different from his type.
—By the way, he's a very demanding professor and one of the very best. His subjects are challenging to get accepted into, and it is hard to obtain good grades in them, but if you achieve them, you gain a lot of respect; he has an eye for talent, so think twice before choosing him. Many girls try to add his class to their schedules to get closer to him, but it never ends well. He is a dream crusher. Do you want me to introduce you to him? I'm one of his favorite students.
—Oh, no, no —you get all nervous. Leandra laughs at your answer and how you go full panic within seconds.
—So you are the type who only likes to stare? —she mocks you. You softly push her, joking around.
Oh, yes, and he looks so fine! That suit is tight in all the right places!
-
The party gets better and wilder as the night progresses, and the alcohol takes a toll on your systems.
People are dancing around to DJ Lando's sensual set and hooking up everywhere; the lights are dim, and neon lasers pulsate to the beats.
Bodies move in sync with the rhythm as you all gather on the packed dance floor. Max offers the mushrooms around, and a "Fuck it! I deserve to feel alive!" feeling overpowers you, and you join them as they cheer you in, feeling now more like part of the pack!
Amidst the blur of Carlos's body dancing around you - he became your companion for the night - you start feeling everything on your skin: the energy, passion, and thrill.
You can feel your pupils dilating and his firm chest under your hands. Your vision gets distorted, and a tall man with dark hair and intense eyes forms in front of you, and you fight that urge to slide your hands down.
You needed so bad this tempting display of youthful freedom and uninhibited release, begging for your inhibitions to fade temporarily after years of sadness and solitude.
You can't wait for the course to start and for this new chapter in your life to begin.
Please don't let it just be a fantasy! To be continued... < Previous chapter | Masterlist | Next chapter >

Tankiste during Vehicle Maintenance
This is an impression of a French tank crewman working on their vehicle during maintenance time. Any 'free time' the tank crews had was in the form of vehicle maintenance and ensuring that their vehicle was fully operational for the next fight. While the workshop section within a company was tasked with larger repairs, it was up to the crews to maintain their vehicle in a fit-to-fight state. For this task the crews were issued tank working overalls (modern terminology would call this a coverall) to be worn over the standard light blue uniform. These were either commandeered from the civilian realm or old regulation models, which would result in several different appearances of the same style garment. Some would be one piece like the one depicted here, while others were of a two piece style. Colors also varied, from white, to off-white, to tan, to cachou, and dark blue. After the war in 1919 it was codified that the dark blue variants were to become the regulation model because these would show the least amount of vehicle oil and other debris. This particular variant is in a cachou color and features a left breast pocket, Equipements Militaires buttons, and a standing collar. Two EM buttons on the front of the chest allowed for the placement of a rank tab, denoting the rank of Corporal. The civilian black beret would often be worn during maintenance, as well as the Ceinturon Modèle 1903 modifié 1914 without any gear looped on it. The patches of light blue wool on the coveralls are repair patches due to usage rips throughout the uniform.
The display photos show a Boîte à Munitions (Ammunition Box) which of course would carry the crew's ammunition supply. On the top of the box is five Cartouche de 8 mm Modèle 1886 à balle D for the Renault FT's 8 mm Hotchkiss Modèle 1914 Heavy Machine Gun as well as one Cartouche à Obus en fonte Modèle 1888 which was the most common 37 mm round for the Renault FT's Puteaux 37 SA Modèle 1918 cannon. In the background is a periscope painted in Gris Artillerie and while not issued to tank crews, this type of periscope was an incredibly common sight within the trenches. Beside the ammunition create is a brass Pyrene Fire Extinguisher. These models came standard in tanks out of the factory with every Renault FT equipped with one Pyrene Fire Extinguisher underneath the driver's seat.
The second display photo depicts a Renault FT section maneuver on a small target per doctrine scribed on a chalkboard slate. Many household items like these would be commandeered and pressed into service within the French Army. Behind this is a photograph of Renault FT during the 1919 Bastille Day Parade. This parade would be extensively photographed and many other pictures would feature these Renault FTs moving through the Arc de Triomphe and down the parade route. Further back is a fully intact post-war Renault FT souvenir inkwell. These were very popular inkwells that often made appearances on the more enthusiastic AS officer's desk. While these two items are post-war pieces, both provide a glimpse into how important the AS and the Renault FT was in bringing final victory to the French Army and shows some ways they were celebrated post-war. Finally, behind these pieces is a regulation pair of glasses with its matching case. Regulation glasses could be purchased by the soldiers in military bazaars along with other various small kit items tailored to soldiers.

Another year has passed, and finally summer is here again! This time, needless to say, the destinations are obviously Spain and than Marrakech ('' Marrakech Express'' an Oscar prize Italian movie by Director Gabriele Salvatores has been just released and so we are even more keen to go there). Our vehicle this year is none other than a Renault R4 (obviously second hand). A service car from Gianluigi's mechanical workshop. Before each departure, as a must, we go for lunch: this time in an old restaurant ''the Parasoou'' where they cook the real Milanese schnitzel (elephant ear) It's midday, the streets are filled with those 10 minutes of excitement that create workers and employees returning home for lunch. On the Muggio' - Taccona road a guy with a Vespa 50 doesn't respect the red light and hits us! The scooter rider literally flying beyond the R4, without a helmet (not yet compulsory at the time), causing a large lump with his head on the upper part of car's roof. My immediate though was:
God forbid!! We just covered 2.7 km of the 5,300 km that await us and we have already had an accident!! Nice way to start a trip, even if we are not at fault for what happened. Once the paperwork for reporting the accident have been completed, we set off again and reach the restaurant finally eat the huge ''Milanese steak''. Few memories of the outward journey, everything goes quite well, up to Narbonne, where the Autoroute du Midi (Highway of the South) ends. While we are stopped at the toll booth, a girl suddenly appears out of nowhere and asks me in Spanish where we are headed.  ''At the moment for Barcelona, I reply.  ''Bueno vale'' and in no time she reappears with a friend in tow, opens the back door, literally throws a bulky piece of luggage inside and gets into the car, with a numbers of ''Muchas Gracias … Muchas Gracias!!'' In short, it is 11.00 PM on a July's evening, and we are headed to Spain via the state road to Jonquera, and two noisy Spanish girls from a holiday in Mexico have ''self-loaded''into our car. The girls, we discover after a few minutes from their talk, are ''Communists'' and immediately afterwards they begin to sing revolutionary songs which they say they learned in Mexico. It is true that Francisco Franco has been dead since the previous year, but in Spain Francoist sentiments are still very much alive, especially among the ''la Guardia Civil''. Meanwhile we noticed that a kind of 'train''queue'' had formed behind us, made up of 4 or 5 cars, which apparently are tailin us. Between the girls' ramshackle songs, the darkness, and the contradictory French road signs (with that perennial ''Toutes Directions''' which normally leads nowhere) after several kilometers we end up in a dead-end street!! We stop and get out from the car, immediately joined by the other cars drivers, which turn out to be driven by Italians!! Some of them shouting at me like:
AND NOW!!??
And now what?? I answer  We were following you, it seemed to us that you knew the way to Spain!! Says someone who got out of a Pegeout with Florence license plate.  And no, first of all I don't know the direction! And then who told you to follow me?? To make a long story short, we retraced our steps, and took the state road again, but a new mistake was lurking: after a few kilometers we realized - despite the pitch darkness - that we were on the road that leads to Carcassonne, and therefore in a northerly direction, completely wrong, Spain being to the West!! Another discussion with the ''chasing' Italians and then finally, with the help of a petrol station guy we got back on the right path to La Jonquera! Meantime Gianluigi was catechising the girls:  Soon we will be at the France-Spain border, a place full of police and Guardia Civil – no revolutionary songs, no slogans against Franco!! UNDERSTOOD!??  Girls: ''sI ....te entiendo como no......'' Luckily the girls keep their promise, and apart from a thorough check of their luggage (they are coming from Mexico, police's dogs smell something…) at the border everything turned out well. We spent through Barcelona, and we drop off the two girls near their home, in a suburban neighborhood of the city, and than we continue to Calella del Mar, where we decided to stop. After a restful sleep and a day spent relaxing in a chiringuito on the beach, in the evening we had dinner in one of those Spanish restaurants with two entrances, the main one on a narrow street, and the other on the opposite side. The Ladies who own the place - two elderly sisters - made up a spectacular paella, and serve local rosé wine: a tasty dinner that costs us just few pesetas. The next morning we set off early, we want to get at least as far as the Costa del Sol, about 800 km south of Barcelona.
In 1976 the Autopista del Mediterraneo ended in Alicante, after which it began a tortuous route over the Sierra – passing through Albacete (the city of knives), Jaen, Lorca, Baza, Guadix, Granada and then Malaga. The alternative was to go through Almeria, and then the coastal road through Motril and than Malaga – but this variant was even longer and more complicated. In any case, we managed to get to Torremolinos for the evening, not bad considering we were traveling in a second hand R4. We stayed overnight in a hotel on the road to Benalmadena, and the next afternoon we set off for Algeciras.
Algeciras is a Spanish city of over 120,000 inhabitants in the province of Cadiz, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. The city is located at the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula, in the Bay of Gibraltar (or Algeciras) in front of the Rock of Gibraltar. Its name derives from the Arabic Al-Jazīra al-Khadrā "the green island", imposed in 711 by the first Arab conquerors who landed on the peninsula. We chose to ferry to Ceuta - a Spanish enclave in Moroccan territory - for two reasons:
The crossing lasts 2 hours instead of 3 hours of Algeciras - Tangier one.  The disembarkation operations in Ceuta are much quicker than in Tangier, because the border with Morocco in Ceuta is located about 2 kilometers from the city, not immediately upon disembarkation as in Tangier.
Very quiet cruising, calm sea, very pleasant temperature, we will remember this on the way back…… After disembarking, we quickly reach the border with Morocco, where we manage to complete the transit operations in half an hour. And we immediately realize that the hour saved on the ferry is nothing compared to the long and difficult 110 km to reach Tangier. Suggestion: if you have to continue towards the East, along the Mediterranean coast of Morocco, it is best to ferry to Ceuta. If, however, your destination is southern Morocco, it is much better to ferry from Algeciras to Tangier. It is now evening when we reach Tangier, and we checked in last year's hotel, Les Almohades. The old valet is still there, who recognizes us and starts one of his usual tirades in 3 different languages:  Maroc is a great country ……Algeria nada…….  Au Maroc le melon…. kabirrrrr…. Algeria nada……  Hitler criminal…….Mussolini….pas trops……. As usual we leave the next morning, around midday. The state road towards the South is good, it runs along the Atlantic and passes through Asilah, Larache, Kenitra and obviously a myriad of smaller towns. For this reason the average speed cannot be high, as the road is populated by cars, buses, carts pulled by donkeys, scooters and pedestrians. We been passing through the beauty of the Foret de la Mamora, before Rabat; I believe one of the largest forests of cork trees in the world. The state road crosses it from North to South, and it is here that we manage to avoid an accident that could have had serious consequences. A cart dragged by a donkey, just before I was overtaking it, and when we were not even 20 meters away, suddenly the animal escapes the ''fellah's'' control who is driving it, and starts crossing the road from right to left! When I try to overtake him on the right, he comes to the right! When I try to avoid him on the left, he comes on the left! Now very close, I attempt a desperate maneuver: I go up the embankment at the side of the road, like a flyover on the Monza circuit, and I manage to avoid the beast by a hair's breadth! DONE IT!
Soon later we arrive in Sale', the so-called twin city of Rabat . After crossing the Ouadi Bou Regreg bridge, Rabat appears to us as an elegant city, with beautiful tree-lined avenues. We visit the mausoleum of King Mohammed V, which is located on the square of the Hassan Tower and dominates the mouth of the Ouadi Bou Regreg. The mausoleum contains the tomb of Muhammad V of Morocco and now also of his sons Moulay Abdellah and Hassan II. It was built between 1961 and 1971, in ten years of work in which 400 craftsmen participated. The architecture of the mausoleum is due to the Vietnamese architect Eric Vo Toan, and is based on the classic Arab-Andalusian style according to traditional Moroccan art - a true wonderful monument. We then continue to Casablanca, which is only 90 km away by motorway. Once we arrive, we head to a seafront hotel, directly on the beach. It was than we realize that we arrived in Morocco in the middle of Ramadan, the period in which Muslims abstain from eating and drinking during daylight hours. Everything has slowed down, the shops, bars and restaurants are closed during the day, and reopen only after the cannon shot that signals of ''Ifhtar'' (Evening prayer). We manage to spend somewhat boring days between the beach and the hotel. During one of this lazy afternoons, Gianluigi has run out of cigarettes, so he left the beach in his bathing suit, looking for a tobacco shop, even though I told him that he won't find any open.
I'll wait for you at the hotel, I toldl him.
Evening came and my friend still hasn't shown up, and I'm starting to be worry: maybe something has happened to him..... With the help of the reception's guy, we make a few phone calls: hospitals, and then the police station. And from there they confirm that yes, a foreigner (Italian) was arrested while walking on the Corniche in a swimsuit!! I immediately took a taxi and run to the police station, where the cops explain:
''Your friend has committed a serious act of indecency, especially now that we are in the month of Ramadan''!! Using all my negotiating skills, I try to soften the position of the Surete' Nationale agent. And at the end of an endless talk, I finally manage to convince the cops that
''It was a mistake, he didn't know it was forbidden to walk in sunbath outside the beach, we do this in Italy all the time! But above all he didn't want to offend anyone''. Ok, deal! The crime, instead of being punished with seven days in prison, been transformed into a simple fine: 2,500 Moroccan Dirhams (about 220 USD of today). Meantime I was telling Gianluigi to stay calm, I return to the hotel to get the money - then finally, after an exhausting drafting of the PV (Proces verbal), signatures and countersignatures, Gianluigi (during all this time he was in the cage, but alone) is released!! The inconvenience of the arrest, combined with the Ramadan time, ruined our feeling a bit. The next day we decide to leave Casablanca and heading to Marrakesh. We manage to get to Settat, a modern city about 90 km South of Casa'. Settat is a city which, thanks to the fact that it was the birthplace of a very powerful then Moroccan Minister of the Interior, has enjoyed an unusual development in the rather difficult landscape of Morocco. Large tree-lined avenues, well-kept public gardens, modern government buildings with a touch of traditional Arab architecture. All this gives the city a respectable and pleasant air. It is in Settat that we stop to decide what to do: continue (the further we go towards the interior of the country the hotter it will be) or retrace our steps and leave for Spain? The second hypothesis wins, and we make a U-turn: Casablanca, and then via Rabat, Kenitra and then Tangier: this time, mindful of the experience of the outward journey, we want to avoid unnecessary kilometers to reach Ceuta. We had a quiet evening in Tangier: a walk of the Kasbah (truly magnificent) and after dinner at the ''Valencia'' restaurant we go to bed quite early: tomorrow morning we intend to take one of the first ferries to Algeciras.
The strait crossin Tangier – Algeciras it takes about 3 hours, and in that August, with calm seas and bright sun it was a real pleasure. We therefore found ourselves returning to Spain earlier than expected, due to the fact that Morocco, ''closed for Ramadan'', had made us opt for a return to Europe.
BENIDORM It was decided not to stop in the Costa del Sol, but to continue to the Costa Blanca. The rest of the holiday was without too many problems and facts to report. That year I met some girls from Northern Europe, including a blonde Belgian girl. She told me that her father was the owner of a furniture factory (look…) and that after graduating in accounting she had decided to work in her father's company. And then she realized – horror! - that the employees MUST BE PAID EVERY 15 DAYS!! A LOT OF MONEY went from dad's bank account to those of workers and employees! How strange, perhaps Monique thought that the employees lived on PURE OXYGEN???!! or that they could shop for free at the supermarket…or rather that someone else (the State?) was subsidizing them to pay for their living. For the first time we moved to Benidorm, near Alicante. A sea resort 500 km closer to Italy compare to Costa del Sol. Costa Blanca sea is undoubtedly beautiful, the city and the surroundings are very liveable. We found a cozy apartment ina a complex on Rincon del Loix, a hilly area immediately east of Benidorm, from where we overlooked the bay. The residence, in Andalusian style, was managed by a Swiss couple. During the day we could walk down to the coves below the residence, where the water was transparent, and there wasn't the crowds of Benidorm's main beaches. And so, between swimming, relaxing, bocadillos, feasting on mussels and drinking sangria para todos at the ''Al Vapor'' restaurant in Calpe (overlooking the Penon) as well as nights at Sunset club, unfortunately the day to return home inevitably arrived...... We left Benidorm with the usual ''corazon dripping with tears''. In the afternoon we stopped in a place called Xativa in one of those shady bars along the interstate road, the ones with the awning made of Coca Cola caps. Excellent bocadillos ''cagnas'' (cerveza on tap) and then off again towards East. Having arrived near Valencia, after about 60 km, Gianluigi realizes that something is missing: he no longer has the bag that he always hang around his neck, where he keeps his passport and wallet!!
Where did you lose it? Or forgotten? I said.....
Mmmm....guess in the bar of Xativa… 60 km ago… '' He answered
So.....nothing to do except U-turn, hoping to at least find the passport in the bar where we stopped. We arrive with our hearts in our mouths in front of the bar area, we enter and the bartender, truly a man of few words, bends down under the counter and hands us Gianluigi's purse!! Where nothing was missing! And so we leave the bar followed by the "hasta l'huego" of the phlegmatic dueño. The journey back to Italy continued without a hitch, a short stop in Figueras to visit the Dali Museum: the Dalí Theater and Museum is a museum dedicated to the great surrealist painter in his hometown of Figueres, Catalonia, Spain. The museum receives more than 1 million visitors a year.
I want my museum to be a single block, a labyrinth, a large surrealist object. It will be a totally theatrical museum. People who come to see it will leave with the feeling of having had a theatrical dream - Salvador Dali '
It is a unique and unforgettable experience – the Great Genius is buried in a crypt, below the stage.
Afterwards it was just boring kilometres, with the usual signs on French roads and motorways advertising sites as ''historic'' even simple villages where perhaps Napoleon only stopped to urinate or to eat his raclette.......

Noémie Fleurette, affectionately called Fleur by those who knew her, entered the world on a bright May morning in 2001, amid the lively streets of Marseille, France. Her parents, Mathéo Renault and Chantika Giselle Puteri, were a testament to the cultural melting pot that defined Marseille—her father, a proud Frenchman with a passion for art, and her mother, a gentle soul from Indonesia, who brought with her the warmth of the tropics.
Growing up in the vibrant port city, Fleur developed a deep appreciation for the sensory delights that filled her surroundings. The salty breeze from the Mediterranean Sea mingled with the fragrant aromas of spices and flowers, creating an intoxicating symphony that captivated her senses. Her father, a talented perfumer who ran a small boutique in the heart of Marseille, instilled in her a love for the art of fragrance-making from a young age.
As Fleur blossomed into adolescence, her fascination with perfumery only deepened. She spent countless hours by her father's side in his workshop, learning the intricacies of blending scents and crafting unique fragrances. With each passing day, she honed her skills, drawing inspiration from the diverse cultural influences that surrounded her.
Upon completing her education, Fleur made the decision to follow in her father's footsteps and pursue a career in perfume-making. Armed with a keen understanding of chemistry and a natural talent for scent composition, she set out to make her mark on the industry. With Marseille as her muse, she embarked on a journey of experimentation and innovation, seeking to capture the essence of her beloved city in every bottle.
Fleur's creations soon garnered attention for their exquisite craftsmanship and evocative aromas. Her perfumes, inspired by the sights, sounds, and flavors of Marseille, became sought after by fragrance enthusiasts from around the world. Each scent told a story, transporting the wearer to the sun-drenched streets and bustling markets of the city Fleur called home.
Today, Fleur is renowned as one of Marseille's most talented perfumers, her name synonymous with elegance, sophistication, and creativity. Her boutique, nestled among the winding alleys of the old town, serves as a testament to her passion and dedication to her craft. With every new creation, she continues to celebrate the beauty of Marseille and the harmonious blend of cultures that define her identity. And as she looks to the future, Fleur is determined to leave a lasting legacy as a master of her art, inspiring others to find beauty in the world around them, one scent at a time.

Cafler: Ricard Guillem’s Impact in the Reinvention of UK’s Automotive Industry
The rise of millions of entrepreneurs of all ages has been taking up space in all types of industries on a global scale, every single day. Creating and leaving impacts through their innovations and ideas, the Founders, Innovators, Makers, and Revolutionists pave a path in the various industries present and give back to the people and the world with their products and services.
Tumblr media
The Inspiration:
Hailing from Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, a 16-year-old boy had the vision, goal, drive, and inspiration to leave a substantial mark in The United Kingdom’s Automotive Industry. Ricard Guillem, being very familiar with the automotive industry due to his family working in the sector for generations, had noticed that when owning any vehicle, the maintenance and ownership of it requires a lot of mechanical and physical care and effort with the aims to prolong its longevity in all aspects.
Therefore, with a lot of research and understanding, the young entrepreneur studied the various technological solutions that were already available in the market and came up with an idea to create an innovative platform and app that provides all of the required care, help, and services with the aims to make the owners better manage, maintain and care for their vehicles in their day-to-day life and needs.
CAFLER’S Creation and Focus:
Cafler – was brought into existence in the year 2021, and was founded by Ricard Guillem. The start-up was founded alongside yet another inspiring, hard-working, and talented businessman – Iñigo Diego. With the consistent efforts applied, sacrifices made and with good time, Ricard Guillem and Iñigo Diego, came through with their aims and visions which led them to reach the skyline.
Basing their priorities on providing a seamless and easy yet first-level client experience to the people, the number of services that are being offered follow these criteria – Comfort, Low Prices, Trust and Transparency, Selection and Personalised Services. Upholding these criteria strongly, the founders of Cafler have built the platform and seen to it that it is accessible globally. To kickstart their platform, the main drivers and motivators that were behind Cafler’s huge success in the industry and country, are as follows – Ambition, Speed, Responsibility, Purpose and Impact.
CAFLER’S Impacts:
With more than 100,000 services being provided by Cafler while working with more than 750 partner brands and companies such as – Tesla, Renault, Turo, etcetera, establishing their growing presence in over 3 countries – Spain, France and the United Kingdom and counting, as well as operating actively in over 8 cities – Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Lyon, London respectively and more. With many more branches aiming to be opened in other countries for a wider reach and engagement of their services offered, the co-founders are growing and moving up the scale and market positively.
“Our operating system technology is designed to make life easier for vehicle users, empowering local economies, and providing a robust foundation for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to thrive.” – Ricard Guillem’s response to how Cafler contributes to building a better future for the people, at the Valencia Digital Summit 2023 (VDS).
Some of the various services that Cafler offers and provides the people with are as follows – Ministry of Transport Tests (MOT) from the comfort of their homes, Workshop and Maintenance, Tyre Changes, all kinds of Vehicle Washes, Paperwork, Car Parking, Valet Services, Moving or Transfering of Vehicle to different locations, Refuelling, Tow Truck Services and more. They provide modes of contact on their platform and app so that they can be reached and contacted easily, making their services user-friendly, accessible, and affordable. Cafler has generated more than 10 million euros since its establishment.
To Conclude:
Concerning Innovation in the Automotive Sector, a now 19-year-old Ricard Guillem – was deemed as one of the many young and rapidly growing entrepreneurs in The United Kingdom due to his visions for an industrial transformation. A delegate of Spain to the United Nations and won the National Entrepreneur Award over by the Scientia Foundation. A vision for creating a radical reinvention, the young entrepreneur’s ideas and efforts have provided a path that has further led to a rise and growth with the use of Automotive Technology. Hence, Cafler has shaken and disrupted the industry, so that its founders could reinvent a sector so that better help could be given to the people in several services offered and curated specifically to their requirements and needs.

How to navigate the evolving landscape moving between risk-based approach, new legal rules, self regulations, international initiatives and ethical challenges”. The Climate Fresco becomes a viral phenomenon in companies
Tumblr media
At Saint-Gobain (here in Compiègne), 80% of the 168,000 employees must have followed a Fresque du climat by 2025.
Saint-Gobain, Bouygues, Suez, Orange…: more and more large industrial groups are using the Climate Fresco, a fun workshop to raise awareness of the issues of climate change. A tool that enables them to mobilise their employees on the subject or, at a minimum, to make them understand certain central decisions.
Keihann Yavari fell into the Climate Fresco[1] somewhat by chance. A researcher at Saint-Gobain[2] in Compiègne, the engineer discovered this tool to raise awareness of global warming in 2020, while he was learning about the subject privately. “I immediately said to myself that it made sense to use it in the group, which has strong commitments to the climate,” he says. “I started by deploying it in my research centre, with 200 people. It then spread slowly until reaching the Executive Committee, whose members did so in May 2022.” That’s when the brain wave appeared: management decides that all the group’s employees must take part in the exercise. Objective: 80% of the 168,000 employees worldwide must have followed a Climate Fresco by 2025. “There are already 16,000 today,” says Keihann Yavari.
Fun and educational workshop
The Climate Fresco? This is a fun and educational workshop, enabling you to lay out the main principles of global warming in three hours. Largely based on IPCC reports[3], which themselves reflect the scientific consensus established on the subject, it consists of placing 42 cards on a table, each representing an aspect of the phenomenon (combustion of fossil fuels, melting of glaciers, carbon sinks, climate refugees, for example), depending on their links to each other. Objective, to reconstruct on the table a sequence of causes and consequences: the famous Fresco.
“I was giving courses and conferences on the subject, when one day I had the idea of printing IPCC graphics and asking participants to connect them together,” says Cédric Ringenbach, who invented the Fresco in 2018. This close friend of Jean-Marc Jancovici, who directed the think tank The Shift Project[4], immediately understood the educational potential of the concept. “Handling objects, exchanging and arguing, drawing around the cards, all this really triggers something. Most often, we don't come out unscathed! »
Success is almost immediate - and it lasts. Five years after its creation, the Fresco was followed by nearly 1.2 million people, in France but also abroad (15% of the total). It has been translated into 49 languages and available in 149 countries. “The progression continues to be exponential,” says Cédric Ringenbach, who estimates the proportion of corporate participants at around a third.
Saint-Gobain is not the only large French group to have adopted the tool. Bouygues[5], Orange[6], Renault[7], Vinci[8], Engie[9] and Decathlon[10] also use it, for example. EDF[11] was one of the pioneers, having decided to deploy the workshop in March 2020: 72,000 employees have already created a Fresco there. “We want to raise employee awareness of the issues of global warming, so that they better understand the mechanisms and become agents of change themselves,” explains EDF.
Growing awareness
Deployment can be fairly quick, as workshops can be facilitated by employees within the company. La Fresque du climat, that is an association, is based on a network of volunteer facilitators, themselves trained by volunteers. If the interventions in companies carried out by service providers are most often invoiced (around 1,500 euros, of which 10% donated to the association), employees can train themselves in animation and even train trainers... "In In this case, the association receives a user fee of 3 euros excluding tax per participant,” says Cédric Ringenbach. Planning to generate revenues of 10 million euros in 2023, the Fresque du climat, which has 50 employees, reinvests all its profits in its growth, particularly internationally. It has set itself the goal of reaching 1 million animators (55,000 today).
In particular, it intends to surf on the growing awareness of climate issues by companies of all sizes. It is certainly not an exhaustive training. But to raise awareness, the Fresco has no real equivalent. “We think, we discuss, we find: the workshop brings out a collective intelligence. It's a good compromise between a practical guide to possible actions and a didactic presentation”, testifies Keihann Yavari.
Even if the Fresco itself is not focused on solutions (which it is sometimes criticised for), the workshop ends with a time for reflection on the subject. “Employees most often come out of it motivated to act, and reflect on what they can do in their unit. And at a minimum, they understand certain decisions taken at the central level, such as limiting air travel, for example, ”continues Keihann Yavari.
Diversification ideas
According to Cédric Ringenbach, companies that would only use it to tick boxes in their CSR[12] report are taking a risk. “It's a powerful antidote to greenwashing[13], because employees become guardians of their actions,” he says. Some even come out with ideas of diversification. "After having followed it, the Executive committee of a large accounting consulting firm decided to embark on carbon footprint training", says Cédric Ringenbach.
The breakthrough of the Fresco in companies will not, however, be enough, on its own, to transform the economy. “Companies have an important role to play in the ecological transition, but they will end up being confronted with the rules of the game of the economy, if these do not change. So we also need to talk to decision makers in the political sphere!” the entrepreneur insists
Awareness has begun, at least in France: since the start of the last school year, the government has undertaken to train the 25,000 state executives in the challenges of global warming – a training course which includes a Fresque du climat workshop. And other governments (in Croatia, in Mexico, in certain states of the United States) are beginning to take an interest in it.
Siblings in all areas
Focused on climate change, the Fresque du climat has made siblings in all areas - independent of the workshop invented by Cédric Ringenbach. Biodiversity, mobility, waste, circular economy, forest…: around sixty workshops based on the same principle have been identified. The latest, the Fresco of office waste, developed by Cèdre[14], a solidarity company specialising in this field. “It's a way for our customers to help their employees put the right actions in place,” explains its managing director, Jérôme Boillot. We learn, for example, that it is better for the environment to print a report than to consult it extensively on the Internet.

[1] La Fresque du Climat (the Climate Fresco) encourages the rapid and large-scale dissemination of a shared understanding of climate issues. Its purpose is to accelerate the understanding of climate issues at the global level to help trigger, as soon as possible, the shifts necessary for the preservation of living things. The effectiveness of the educational tool, the collaborative experience and the user license have contributed to the exponential deployment of the Fresco. The association was created at the end of 2018 by Cédric Ringenbach to accelerate the dissemination of the tool, train and develop the skills of a pool of facilitators. It is based on a decentralized and participatory operation whose principles are “do-ocracy”, the right to make mistakes, the rule of three, transparency and the duplication of initiatives. https://fresqueduclimat.org/projet/
