I knew Maggie had a tragic beginning to life but seeing these X-rays broke my heart. I can’t fathom any reason someone would ever want to hurt such a pure and innocent soul. They tried to break her spirit... but Maggie is unbreakable! She’s bloody indestructible!! She has not only suffered in her life but she has chosen to forgive and live her best life every single day! I think that’s what makes Maggie so magical. To suffer so much and still have love in her heart, to learn to trust again, to completely forgive... she’s a perfect little angel. • I’m going to speak to some ballistic experts to see if we can learn more about what might have happened to her, so much is still a mystery. For those new to Maggie’s account this is what we do know about her past... Maggie is a female crossbreed. She was found missing her ear, eyes and heavily pregnant. Her pregnancy was terminated and she had her eyes removed and sewn shut. They found and removed 4 bullets from her eyes. She is completely blind. She can hear out of her missing ear although it is a little muffled. Maggie flew to the UK 18th of September, 2018. She was meant to be my foster dog but I fell in love and adopted her. My partner and I flew to Florida a few weeks back to attend a friends wedding and we had the best time! While on our flight down there I looked out my window and saw this beautiful sunrise. I sent this photo to my family and said "guys look, its 🐶 pheobe's new home💔 ." I think of this image when I'm remembering pheebs these days. Hey all. I know I've been pretty absent recently. As a lot of you may have guessed my pupper passed away last week 😞 A week before moving to our new home, my snuggle muffin got really sick. After two difficult weeks, Pheobe started to decline very quickly. My family and I realized Pheobe couldn't do most of her favorite things anymore, like eating and walking, without a lot of help. We had promised her and ourselves we'd never let her suffer, and we had reached that point. I don't know if I'll ever feel 100% about our choice, all I know now is she's not hurting anymore 💔 I've obviously really been struggling with losing her, the hardest part is not having her greet me when I come home. I'll be posting about her more in the coming weeks amd I hope that will be ok with you all. I also hope my stories, pictures and videos of her will bring you all smiles 💙 I've started a new art project in her honor, I'll keep y'all posted on it. Well, we’ve had some interesting days out here on the Homestead.

Let me start by saying that I am all for hunting. I’ve hunted, and most of my hunts regularly. BUT I really have not been enjoying my dogs finding the by products. Ie: an entire deer face, not a joke friends or mangled legs. I found one of said legs on my couch yesterday. Ethel decided to bring her tasty, decaying treat in with her...

It’s also been super windy and rainy. A lot more so than normal. It was so bad last night that the wind literally blew the door off of our Old Tiny House, our temporary chicken coop. Our girls became free range hens over night. Thankfully Mark spotted them out the window before we let the dogs out. Most of our dogs are surprisingly okay with them, being bully breeds and all. Ethel though, not so much. We found her out in this area and we are fairly certain she was trained to hunt birds. She found the last hen that got out before we did. She didn’t eat the bird, but caused some fatal internal injuries by grabbing the hen. I’m just really glad our Turkey didn’t get out. John Smith is friendly, but still not a huge fan of being picked up or touched. It’s understandable considering how he was raised before we bought him. I think he’s still resentful of being shoved into an onion bag that was then ducked taped by the guys who sold him to us. He really has come around in the last few months though. We bought him with the intentions of eating him for Thanksgiving Dinner. Still here on December 16th...

Any of you out there run a small homestead where you raise your own livestock? I was okay with the idea, as was Mark, but a lot of my family that was coming in town were very freaked out about eating a turkey we raised. People are so out of touch with their food these days. My mom preferred to just buy a butterball turkey from the store instead. Even though eating a turkey we raised would have been a lot healthier and more sustainable than a farmed  version . We have mostly egg chickens right now, but are looking into getting some broilers, pigs and maybe a cow next year. We already have a pen that could be suitable for the pigs and about 7 acres fenced off that could be used for the cows.We have more plans than time lately, so I’ll just see how things go.
