Summary- After getting accepted to most of the colleges that the reader applied to, the reader is waiting for just one more responce.

A/N- If you got accepted to all of the colleges you wanted to be accepted to congrats! If not, just reject their rejection. This is coming from the girl who applied to only four schools and got rejected by three of them with two being her dream schools, and now is going to her safety school which I have a love/hate relationship with.

“You are going to tear a hole into the floor if you keep doing that,” my sister Amelia told me as I paced back and forth by our front door. “The mailman is coming soon. Stop worrying.”

“Easy for you to say since you’re just a freshman,” I looked at her. “Once you reach senior year and already turned in your college application, you’ll get the feeling.”

“Y/N, sweetie, distract your mind,” Mom squeezed my shoulder. “It’s going to come soon.”

“I would if the teachers didn’t have that evaluation day and I didn’t have to be home,” I groaned. “This is my make it or break it moment.”

“Says the girl who got into UC Berkeley, UC LA, Cal Poly, San Diego State, and other amazing colleges in California,” Amelia looked at me as if I was crazy.

Hearing the mailman open our gate, I rushed to the front door and quickly opened it which caused our mailman to let out a laugh at my eagerness.

“I guess someone’s eager to hear back from colleges,” George laughed as he grabbed the stack of mail from his bag. “Good luck.”

“Thanks George,” I thanked him before walking into the kitchen.

I heard Mom apologizing to George about my bluntness and met Amelia and I in the kitchen. Throwing non-important mail into a separate stack, I was met with the envelope from CalTech. My hands immediately started to shake knowing I might get rejected from them. Looking at my mom and sister who gave me hopeful and encouraging looks, I took a breath and started to open the envelope. I took the paper out and started to read it.

“Dear Y/N, congratulations! It is an honor to offer you admission to the California Institution of Technology and the Class of 2023!” I read out while exclaiming.

“You got in?” Mom asked with wide eyes.

“I got in!” The three of us started to jump up and down in celebration.

“Mom,” I saw the tears in her eyes.

“I’m just happy,” she sniffed and wiped her tears.

“I need to tell Dad,” I looked at her.

“Take my keys,” she told me and we hugged again.

Taking the keys from the bowl, I unlocked her car and started driving to base. Sitting at a stop light, I let out a sob of happiness knowing that I got accepted to my dream school. Showing my badge and ID when I got to the entrance of the base, I parked the car and rushed into the building. Nodding my head to a couple of commanding officers like Cyclone and Warlock, I made it to Dad’s office to see his receptionist sitting there.

“Hey Shelly, is my dad in his office?” I asked her.

“No, he’s currently in the hangar with the Dagger Squad,” she replied and saw the look on my face. “You got in didn’t you?”

“Yep,” I nodded my head.

“Congrats hun, we knew you would,” she congratulated me.

I thanked her and went to the hangar where everyone else was. Running down the base, I saw my dad and the squadron talking to each other about things.

“Dad!” I let out another sob as I got closer to him. “Dad!”

“Hey, hey, Y/N,” he went up to me and wrapped me in a hug. “What’s wrong?”

“I got in,” I looked up to him with teary eyes.

“What? What do you mean?” A confused look formed on my face.

“I. Got. In.” I repeated as his eyes widened finally realizing what I meant.

“No you didn't!” His jaw dropped and I gave him the acceptance letter, also the digital one that I got a few minutes later after getting my letter. “You did!”

Dad picked me up and spun me around like he did as I was a little girl. I wrapped my legs around his waist and more tears started to fall down. Putting me down, he hugged me again as tears fell down his eyes and wrapped me in a hug again. Letting go, we let out a chuckle as we wiped our tears and saw the Dagger Squad looking at us.

“I got into CalTech!” I yelled out as I ran up to my brother and adoptive siblings.

A bunch of holy shits and congratulations were said and many hugs. Later on the day, Mom closed the Hard Deck for the day so we could celebrate with my friends and family.

*Few Months Later*

Walking into my dorm room, I placed one of my last boxes on my bed and looked around the room.

“Well, I guess this is it isn’t it?” Dad asked as he placed the last box on the floor.

“I guess so,” I looked at my family and felt a lump in my throat. “I’m going to miss you guys.”

“Aw hun,” all of them wrapped their arms around me to give me a hug.

“Hey, we’re a phone call away,” Mom told me.

“If you want to come home, I’ll drive the Bronco the three hours here and the three hours there,” Rooster squeezed me.

“You’re going to kickass,” Amelia said.

“Amelia,” Mom sacked her arm as she heard her youngest curse.

“It’s not like we have a naval aviator as a dad who curses all the time,” she shrugged her shoulders and we let out a laugh.

“So if any of the F-18s or any old plane I buy needs fixing, I know who to call right?” Dad jokes.

“Just give me the time and place,” I smiled and hugged them again.

Taking pictures together and having tearful goodbyes, they left my room and I looked around to look at the place I’ll be getting my degree in. Looking on my bed, I saw a wrapped present and unwrapped it. Tearing the wrapping paper off, I saw a note from Dad and a picture of Mom, Dad, Amelia, Rooster, and I at the beach together. There was another one with me and the Dagger Squad playing dogfight football. With a smile forming on my face, I placed it down on my desk and read the note.

|He doesn't look any in the eyes. He has brought shame (something he should have realized long ago) to his family name with this silly loss. He's half aware of receiving letters from his wife, when his hearing would kick back into gear. He knows what he has to do, but ignoring if that's truly what must happen was never a simple task.|

Will just huffs as he thinks of a worthy reply. Elland looks content for getting William in such a state and he gives the prefect some space by focusing on his copy of The Daily Prophet. Sometimes, when I psychoanalyze Jaehyun, I couldn't help but think how his possible attraction to men is not surprising. Ever since, Jaehyun already demonstrated how his father is actually the leading figure in his life, which may come as surprising because familial norms are used to having mothers as source of comfort (and from the 127 documentary, a lot of the members did not really grow up with good father figures). But from Jaehyun's stories, it is his father that he seeks comfort and guidance from. Jaehyun likes people that are assertive, mature, wise, stable, yet still comforting and gentle. I couldn't help but think how he possibly patterns the traits he look in a partner after his father (Freud, you will always be famous :D), and how Doyoung perfectly exhibited these traits.

Contrary to his image, Jaehyun is not dominant. His recent interaction with Lauv shows that. He is shy and reserved, but his natural softness and smile are enough to make it look like he is sociable. (That's why I doubt his claims of being an E in the MBTI, when he shows major signs of introversion, even Doyoung is more sociable than him and the latter is a proud ISFJ). I remember he was asked if he would like to be a leader or older member of the group and he answered he enjoyed being younger and not taking charge. His personality is chill and ebbs and flows, he prefers someone leading him instead of taking the lead, yet at the same time, gives him the space to be stubborn and be on his own occasionally. I think someone like Doyoung is really a perfect partner from him.

While Jaehyun, despite years as a celebrity, has to rely on "bro" gestures to somehow mask how socially inept he is. Lauv, indeed, was a clear case. They both are of similar age, both have similar status as celebs, Jae is a fan and had motivation to give a good impression, charm and forge a friendship for future collabs. I think JaeHyuk (and JaeWoo, in the past especially) is good at highlighting Jae's non-assertiveness. Haechan literally can push Jae against the wall, heh. And when Jae wants to stand his ground or has his way, he does it with the help of his stuborness and defiance rather than dominance. Jaehyun can't behave in a way as to be perceived by Woo as a hyung (whose word is finite), so he opts to slight agressiveness and cold responces.

I don't know how Jae's father is, but we might see Jae emulating him (as an example most close to him) in his relatioship with Yuta. With Yuta Jaehyun is a protective figure.

I wouldn't say Jaehyun has a chill personality, lol. He is no Taeil. Jaehyun is accepting, that's different. He is very moody though, can be emotional. In 2018 or 2019 neos joked how TaeJae squabbles were their favourite show at that time.

Project 00

Studio Lab Session - Drawing in dimentions

During this session, we were starting to explore an idea by making images in different ways to help us to think about unexpected and new ways of image making. We thought about different ways of drawing using different starting points and how combining our drawings might help us understand our subjects.

Exercise 1 - Drawing from photographs (2d starting points)

1.1 - Draw the whole image in 5 mins. I drew the first image in 3 mins but didn't have enough time to add much detail. The positioning was also a bit off

1.2 - Isolate and draw the 2 most important things in the image and leave them in place - 5 mins

1.3 - Draw as much depth and texture as possible just using lines or cross hatching – How does light reflect in different places? Where are there shadows? Is it rough or smooth? - 5 mins

I tried to use a mixture of straight and curved lines for this task. I want to try this one again using a fine liner for better cross hatching.

1.4 - Cut out the most important element from the photograph and add lines/marks - 5 mins

1.5 - I also repeated this process for the second image. I think I should have chosen another image because i struggled to draw using this one.

Exercise 2 - Drawing from Objects (3D Starting Point)

These are two two found objects I decided to draw in this session. The red one is dried acrylic paint and the blue one was from packaging.

2.1 - Look at your objects for 5 mins –Make a drawing which focuses on capturing the objects feel and texture.

2.2 - Draw the object showing as much depth and texture as possible

2.3 - Capture the objects texture with as few marks as possible -

2.4 - On one sheet of paper, lay your object on the paper, and draw around your object from 3 different angles, using a different colour or material for each outline – 3 mins

Part 3 - Drawing with Letters (Text Starting Points)

3.1 - We were tasked to ask the person next or across from us about our objects. Questions like; Do you know what this is? Where do you think it came from? How does it make you feel?

And we were also asked to write their full responses - 5 mins per person.

3.2 - Then we looked at our recorded responces and asked to think twice about what words or phrases were the most important. Using hand drawn lettering I wrote a full responce to one of the questions whilw empathising key words. 15 mins.

Write down 3 key words from these responses in a way that reflects the words.

Think about colour, size, font/handwriting etc - 10 mins

I wrote the words: Sharp, Smooth and Bright.

Part 4 - Combining and Exploring

For the rest of the session, we were asked to 3 drawings, which are all the same size and same orientation.

Each of these 3 drawings should visually explore our Project 00 subject (mine being AI in storytelling) by combining in one drawing at least:

1 drawn element from a 2D starting point.

1 drawn element from a 3D starting point.

1 drawn element using text or handwriting.

For the 2d element I decided to use my photo of the manequinn and layer the 3d elements on top of it. Unfortunatly I forgot to draw the Text element

For the second image, i wanted to test drawing with a fineliner and marker for the manequinn but i wan't sure if i liked it or not (It was my first test). But I did like my final drawing because of the contrast of texture and colour in the drawing.

I remember being sick and my mother nursing me through the night . Her throat bulged out with consoling letters , a post box of love ,when gently she would recite لا بأْسَ طَهورٌ إِنْ شاءَ الله in my ears. The whispers would travel across the salt deserts and nourish my blood with the urge to flow again. I would rapidly recognise that some medicines were far from the reach of any chemist , that some words had the tendency to recover the decaying decades of life . I'm a paitient again , but this time sick in silence.I'm anxious again ,but this time stiffened by self hatred. I am desperate to heal but I'm stubborn to avoid help so i hum same arabic verses all by myself with little or no faith and unfortunately my hopelessness serves to enhance the amplitude of my disease . I realise words don't matter when they are forced to labor they matter only when they are exercised out of compassion to speak out the authenticity with utmost belief . I need my mother to impose her impactful conversation against me but this time my health breaks from behind , my fatigue builds from inside and my consciousness deteriorates from within my skull and everything is severely decomposing, my lips are cracking , and my mouth is deserted by deficiencies - i call out to my mother , i do but its from beyond the voices, its an irrelevant frequency that doesn't imply to a responce , it's an echo within the emptiness of a forgotten valley, but i hear it when it strikes back and I'm sure i have walked past the normalcy of physics otherwise my mother would have answered and hospitalized me in her lap .
