Watching the AO3 top ship finals go down (here it is), and the amount of people talking about how the mlm ship (not naming it, in case I get dragged for having an opinion) deserves to win because it’s a part of Tumblr history is just… ridiculous.

Like, that is absolutely correct, but why exactly did it become a part of Tumblr history? Why has Tumblr had an obsession with non-canon (this particular ship is canon, though, but it seemed like a last minute decision from the writers) mlm ships, whilst ignoring any potential wlw ones?

Ok hear me out. I like men and i’m 100% sexually attracted to them and I’ve never felt differently but! once the honeymoon phase wears off in any kind of relationship, be it romantic or platonic, I start feeling more and more like the way most of them have been socialized makes them absolutely insufferable. i don't know how to say this right but i keep noticing this pattern in social media where people want to throw something away instead of fixing it re social justice etc. like boycott everything fuck everything because it's bad. like the olympics have a history of being racist, ableist, and so on, and they still are today in many ways, which is of course true and it should be talked about more, but if your answer to that is to stop watching olympics, talking about it, in ideal case it stopping to be relevant.... does that really help the athletes who you are fighting for? do you think they want that people don't watch and don't care? wouldn't it be better to try to make the games better? which is a very naive thing to say perhaps but some people just have zero hope where is the progress supposed to come from then
