You had never been a fan of summer. The overwhelming heat, sticky sweat, and endless free time just clashed with you. As soon as summer started, you were already counting down the days until it would end, much preferring winter to it any year. 

But, as you sat on the pool chair under an umbrella, you realized that summer might have at least one perk to it. And that was your boyfriend shirtless at the pool.

You had been dubious at the idea of swimming with your boyfriend’s friends when he suggested the idea to you that morning. It was only your second or third time hanging out with them, and you never particularly liked water activities. But all your prior reluctance seemed to have disappeared into thin air the second Gyuvin walked out of the house with iced lemonade in his hands and a very clear absence of any swim top. 

You couldn’t help but blush at the sight. Truthfully, the most you had seen was him in a tank top as the weather got warmer. You were always one to take things slowly, and while you knew he worked out and definitely had muscles hiding underneath, you were never in a rush to see them. Maybe because you knew you would get flustered like you were now. 

Gyuvin’s eyes searched for yours, as they always did when he was apart from you for any amount of time. His face brightened when he spotted you sitting cross legged on the pool chair, book in your lap, trying your best to look anywhere but him. 

“Want some lemonade?” He asked as he walked over, holding a cool glass topped with a pink straw and a paper umbrella. The sun shined straight down on him, doing wonders to warm his skin tone to a rich golden colour, his chest and abdomen catching the warmth of it as well. 

He had told himself he wouldn’t get his hopes up about your reaction to him being shirtless. He loved having an effect over you; it boosted his ego. But he didn’t want to be cocky. It was true that he had worked on his chest and abs a little harder specifically for you. Who could blame him for wanting to look nice for his girlfriend? He just wanted to match up to how pretty you were.

He didn’t miss the way you were avoiding eye contact, or the flush that was taking over your face. Now that he saw how shy you were, he couldn’t help the grin that spread to his face. You took the lemonade from him and used it as a distraction, although you snuck another peak at his stomach when he handed you the glass.

You let out a sigh of relief when he turned away from you, so sure you were going to completely melt into a puddle under his stare if he looked at you for even a second longer. Watching him from a distance was infinitely easier on your racing heart.

The boys did several rounds of relay races, and then started to play catch with some pool toys. You just watched them with a smile on your face. They were having fun, and you loved to hear your boyfriend’s laugh. He was on a team with Jiwoong, Yujin, and Ricky for a game of pool volleyball, and somehow, miraculously, they won against the others.

You saw Gyuvin cheer, hugging Ricky in celebration. It was cute how hard they celebrated just for winning a game of pool volleyball. Gyuvin then turned to you, grinning as your eyes met. You smiled at him and he beckoned you over to him, meeting you at the side of the pool.

You dipped your feet into the water, sitting on the poolside as the other boys got out to dry off. Gyuvin swam over to you, still somehow taller than you despite standing much lower in the water.

“Did you see I got the winning point?” He laughed, pushing his hair back off of his forehead as he got to the edge of the pool. 

“I saw! It was a super close game.” You smiled as he wrapped your legs around his waist, closing the little distance between you two. “You know, you distracted me from my book.” You draped your arms around his bare shoulders, not minding how they were still wet from the water.

He started to smile, “Oh? How so, baby?” He teased, already knowing where this was going.

Sinners Review Pt. 2-‼️SPOILERS‼️ 

Sorry it’s been a loooong week, but here we go:

I wanted to talk a little more about Ryan Coogler’s vampire lore and style. Really enjoyed seeing some of those classic Bram Stoker’s (who was an Irish man btw) Dracula traits returning to screen. I recently watched Midnight Mass on Netflix and loved seeing Sinner’s vamps having those reflective prey eyes similar to the ones in tv series. The fact that the eyes were done practically with contacts makes me so happy 😁  I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to see some BTS or makeup stills of Remmick’s final moments as it really highlights the monster under the mask of a man!

The hive mind was definitely something new to me as well and perfectly conveyed just how draining (pun intended) assimilation is on communities. Him having to sift through Burt and Joan’s memories after being asked: “Y’all clan?” and his response being absolutely APPALLED with that “SiR 🤨?!?!” Was HILARIOUS!!! Remmick’s a total FREAK after that one line to Grace (haven’t stopped thinking about him tho).

Quick side note: one thing I haven’t read or heard anyone talk about is the symbolism of Remmick’s end. As the sun is coming up and it burns him, instead of turning to ash, Remmick’s goes up in a pillar of fire 🔥 Now as someone raised in the Christian faith, I think that had to have been intentional on Ryan’s part. Especially for Sammy, a preacher’s boy, who would be familiar with the significance of such a sight after the traumatic night he just survived. For those not familiar: the pillar of fire is God’s way of leading His people through the wilderness in Exodus. In the end, Sammy took that pillar of fire/Remmick’s actions & Smoke’s words and followed his true desire to play the blues- not fall into the same destructive ways of his father/ the church.

Speaking of Grace, her and Bo’s story is truly tragic, but I loved that Asian- American representation as many people don’t tend to realize how much of an impact that community has in the history of the South. I don’t blame Grace for letting in the vamps to save her daughter and ultimately the town. First time I watched, I didn’t even realize she was the one who invited them in 😂 . My heart aches to think of poor Lisa who had to grow up not knowing what happened to her parents.💔

Same goes for Cornbread’s wife, who was pregnant mind you!! All the best to Omar who was so very funny and had me jumping out of my skin both times he tried to take a chunk out of Smoke’s arm. His lines have definitely become a vocal stim for me at the most random moments: (“bein kind to one another!/ where’s my $2?!”) Him going so far to take a leak STRESSED me out and why he wasn’t RUNNING?! Will is a very affectionate person. The Apollo cabin happens to be very affectionate too‼️Anyone in the Apollo cabin could be cuddling up to each other, one could be all over a person and that person wouldn't really care. The amount of campers hearing about their severity of unstable mental health. Always either shows a horrified look, or is just urging to go to Chiron.

Their texts are always so random. One will send cats, and the other will send a close up picture of their faces and their screen in blurred. And then another will just send a poem. And then another would send a rat.

Some camper in the infirmary hearing Will text on his phone: "Who are you texting?"

Will: "Oh. Just, Leo."

Camper, peaks over his shoulder: ".. Did he just send a picture of the sun and says you're the light of my world, and then in the next he sends a picture of a rat saying it's you?"

Will: "Yeah."

Will happens to be afraid of birds due to an attack with Stymohalion birds back then. He let out a high-oitched, bloodmurder screech, seeing a bit land right in front of him. Immediately trggering his PTSD. Leo definitely would Kath to himself, but seeing Will's terrified look on his face actually made him feel bad. So whenever he spots a bird as he and Will are walking. Either he will shoo them away or avoid letting Will see them.

in the last few days i talked about the three primary aesthetics of A WONDERFUL DANGANRONPA:

cyberpunk,

sandalpunk/bronzepunk (think Clash of the Titans),

and salvagepunk/rustpunk (think Mad Max or Fallout)

these are pretty different vibes, so you may be wondering: how the holy moly fuckerino are you meshing them together, Iris???

the answer is that, more or less, you can assign each aesthetic to a certain background.

🌐 CYBERPUNK

those that grew up as part of the richer "elite" in shinetowns—rebuilt cities—take on a cyberpunk vibe. basically, a lot of clean, sleeker versions of streetwear you'd find people wearing today, as well as "divine devices"—prosthetics of various kinds.

tentatively, the Diplomat Wonder, the Gossip Wonder, the Perfumist Wonder, and the Chessmaster Wonder would reflect this particular aesthetic.

🔧 SALVAGEPUNK/RUSTPUNK

those who grew up on the "wrong side of the tracks" in the worlds’ shinetowns often resemble something more out of Mad Max, with all its eccentricities: rust, spikes, police tape as bandages, stop signs turned to chest-pieces.

note that wrong side of the tracks here, doesn't necessarily mean disenfranchised. there are plenty of shinetowns where these sorts hold tons of local power and even respect. many keep to this culture by choice. indeed, the most grody shinetown biker bitch may have a relatively happy, if somewhat violent, life. humans always find ways to dance.

tentatively, the Undertaker Wonder, the Rockhound Wonder, the Pyrotechnic Wonder, and the Speed Wonder would reflect this particular aesthetic.

🔱 SANDALPUNK/BRONZEPUNK

other settlements dot the world of A WONDERFUL DANGANRONPA that don’t fit into the "shinetown" mold. usually they’ve sprung up around desolate, desperate places…or, on the flipside, are relatively peaceful (if enclosed) communities out in the middle of nowhere that have rejected the Return To Tradition, so to speak. aesthetics here are low-tech and tend to orbit "sandalpunk."

our main setting, Hope's Peak Monastery, reflects this aesthetic. as for characters, you'll find that the Poet Wonder, the Groundskeeper, and the Marine Life Wonder all have a Greco-Roman feel.

⚠️ ECCENTRICS

as in our world, there’s plenty of folks who don’t meet the above molds, likely because they’ve traveled, they have access to trade routes, or because they’re just fucking weird. they may mix and match styles, leaving their true background unknown to the average observer. you'll find this happening with the Protagonist, the Party Planner Wonder, the Clockmaking Wonder, the Hunter Wonder, and the Pilot Wonder.

this is all backstory, of course, and won't come up a ton at the forefront of A WONDERFUL DANGANRONPA. but i want the outfits and architecture to tell a subtle story about the post-apocalyptic world these folks inhabit, so here it is.

NOKOBY'S PEAK 👁️

A small community of obsessive magic Casters living on the cliffside of an arctic tundra. Everyone there is some kind of Summoner, Psychic, or esoteric magician. Captured Holy Beings power their towers; protecting them from the hellspawn that leak out from The Veilstain - or they would, if any of the creatures could survive the climb and freezing temperatures. The Casters here sacrifice everything for their practice, even their names and faces. While a little absent-minded and more than a little cult-like, the denizens of Nokoby's Peak are relatively harmless, considering themselves Seers rather than Soldiers.

ARUNDALE 🏞️

A relatively new and thriving coastal laketown. Most locals are farmers & fishermen, but they have a growing Caster population thanks to their reputation - Being the only territory (besides Nokoby's Peak) that hasn't been touched by The Veilstain, many send their family members here for safety + magical education. While more accepting of newcomers than Isolene, they still uphold the rule that those with 'Supernatural Ailments' must hide their deformities when in public & have reliable control over their curses. If a student/newcomer breaks these rules or harms anyone during their stay, they are exiled and forbidden from returning. Most locals believe the Lake protects them from the spread of the Stain, but those familiar with it's power know it's only a matter of time.

ISOLENE 🏔️

A society of mostly Humans living in the caves, caverns, & vast underground tunnels of the mountains. Their city is a labyrinth, with twisting passageways and hidden doors. Originally dug out and built during The Colossus War, the city was founded on fear and paranoia. Criteria for entry quickly became stricter and harder to achieve as the city expanded; slowly, it closed itself off from the surface entirely. The labyrinth passageways are booby-trapped & enchanted to confuse anyone that comes snooping around. Only Rockborn (those born & raised in Isolene) know where their city is & how to get there - naturally, nobody is allowed to leave, on the off chance they might reveal the tightly kept secret. Recent leakage of the Veilstain has only made these paranoid reclusives even more hostile to strangers.

RADER'S MILL 🌀

A poisoned stretch of woodland where the Rader family resides. They're the only people who live here, presumably because no one else wants to live so close to the Stain. Because of this, they're fairly isolated from the other communities. It's a day and a half's journey to Arundale alone, though Bambi is the only member of her family allowed to stay overnight - as long as she follows the rules.

Thanks to their proximity to the Veilstain, strange new species of Flora and Fauna thrive in their neck of the woods, though not all are edible and many are dangerously hostile.

THE BOUNDS 🌟

A grassland prairie separated by a giant chasm - impossible to cross without magic. Home to mostly werebeasts, though the divide has separated many families (the chasm wasn't always there). The only other way to get across is to go around through The Veilstain. It's a dangerous journey that can take up to three days, but having a Guide raises one's chances. The encroaching Stain has chased some from their forested homes to the praries, increasing hostility over territory & resources. Parents pay Guides to help their children pass through The Veilstain so they can learn magic in Arundale; hoping they'll use what they've learned to restore their homes & scrub out the Stain. Some feel it's only a matter of time before it spreads and pushes them all further towards the shoreline.

IRASTRIDA 🌋

A scarred land crowded with volcanic gysers and dead, calcified trees. With ash clogged skies and volcanic fumes choking the air, only a scattering of Damned even manage to live here. Not much is known about Irastrida other than even the Vielstain can't or won't touch it. Nobody knows why certain people choose to pilgrimage there, it's a land that appears to hate any and all forms of Life. Nothing that enters leaves unchanged.

THE VEILSTAIN 🏚️

A decayed and sinister woodland forest of blackened trees and the crumbled remains of a long fallen city. The Great Elk was killed here; The Blood of the Beast soaked the ground and rotted it from within - ripping a hole in The Veil separating the living from the dead. While horrific and fatal to most, it is a necromancer's paradise (if they can stay alive long enough to make use of it's secrets)

The Great Elk's corpse is the source of the Stain - it devours and corrupts all that it touches, creating new creatures of death and devastation. Nobody knows why it continues to spread so long after the demon's death; most believe it's enacting revenge on its master's behalf...or searching for something. Whatever it is, The Great Elk must never find it.

KNUCKLES SERIES REVIEW🗣️‼️‼️

I don’t think anyone cares about this girl blabbering on about her opinion of the newest sonic show, but the new knuckles series was honestly so peak‼️

The shows only been out for like a day or two now, so I don’t know what the general consensus on it is, but I feel that the show has a lot of good elements that balance well with each other.

Positives:

•I honestly really liked Wade and Knuckles’s dynamic through out the show. You have wade which is this super goofy, not serious at all, kind of push over. Contrasting with knuckles, this super serious warrior who doesn’t know how to have fun. And I love how they have stuff to learn from each other! Knuckles teaches Wade to stand up for himself, and in return wade teaches knuckles how to be more human and how to have fun. I think they work really well off of each other:)

•The jokes honestly got me, like o don’t think I ever laughed once at the jokes in sonic movie 1 and 2, but a good handful of times the jokes landed for me. (Side note, hearing kid cudi swear took me off guard)

•I feel that the pacing was good, I didn’t feel lost at any point, and there were some really nice moments of knuckles and wade bonding between action scenes.

•Speaking of action scenes, I feel these action and fight scenes are honestly some of the best, most creative, and dynamic in the sonic movie universe yet! They’ve it makes me even more hyped to see what they have in store for sonic movie 3

•The CGI was a tiny bit jarring in some places, but over all the CGI was on par with the movies in my opinion!

Negatives:

•The main villain “the buyer” was honestly shit in my opinion. He only got a little bit of screen time towards the start and the end. And his whole deal is only explained towards the last episode. And at that point I just didn’t care, and I felt he should’ve been built up a little bit through out each episode. I honestly liked his henchmen more than him. The two gun agents (I don’t think we ever get names for them) really worked, and I cared more about them than i did “the buyer”

•I was a tiny bit lost at times trying to figure out who some guys were that were after knuckles, like they just feel like random enemies in a video game. And I know they were after wade because of the bounty, but I felt they should’ve just used the two gun agents again.

•I don’t like how everyone was just chill about seeing knuckles. Like does the wider population know about sonic and friends? It feels like sonic and friends are only known about by the government and the residents of green hills. So it threw me off when people would just not bat an eye and a giant fucking anthropomorphic echidna

•I know I said the show was well balanced and paced, but sometimes so feel like the wade scenes went in for just a bit too long. This didn’t happen often enough to detract from my enjoyment however.

Anyways that’s my ramble. I really enjoyed my time with the show over all, and I can’t wait for sonic 3

fubuki the amnesiac. no memories still determined to return things to when they were happier and remain there. only seeing his sister as she was when she was small and needed to be taken care of. letting darkness strangle him for a chance to relive his memories of fujiwara. fubuki and his swing of memories able to pull his partner from the graveyard, but only for a turn and then its out of reach again.

ryo doomed from the start. able to fufill every expectation until he cant anymore and slowly running out of time until that day comes and then that day comes. wearing the collars and shocking himself because theres no use prolonging the inevitable might as well control it. something bad has happened and it hasnt reached him yet but its on its way. ryo and his power bond able to reach his peak, but only for a turn before its all dealt back at him.

both paths culminating in duels against what they both had been chasing, and that they ultimately both lose. fubuki against fujiwara (corrupted by the smothering dark, stagnation, the past) and ryo against yubel (corrupted by the light of destruction, annihilation, the future) GET IT‼️

Okay, I misread the question and wrote about the narrative elements as well, but the song itself is fantastic even without the narrative. It does what I aspire to do in music, which is have the song stand out on its own and becomes richer with lyrics.

Tailor of Enbizaka is excellent! The repetitive structure works for the genre and storytelling. The story shifts and the singer tells that things are changing but she tries to maintain normality, which matches with the slight changes in instrumentation. The synth in the bridges hints to something being off, in the story and with the narrator/singer since the modern synth contrasts the traditional strings, flutes, and piano. On top of this, there are chimes (at least that's the best way I can describe them) that add a dreamy feel.

Just as the song comes to a peak, there's a shift in tone with the singer's voice having a filter over it (a personal favorite element in songs). This not only adds an interesting switch-up to the vocals, but narratively distances the speaker from the listener. The crescendo brings the tension higher, just before everything goes quiet. The final verse returns to the typical structure, not releasing the tension from the previous part and just expecting the listener to accept the return to normality like the singer's lyrics do even as the "truth" is revealed.

Side note: the remake of the song done 3 years ago adds a baseline and for some reason the vocals are awfully quiet. Personally, I feel the baseline is distracting. The vocals being quiet could have been fixed in the mixing stage, so I don't know why they weren't.

Oh, and uh my personal second favorite of the Sins series is tied between Evil Food Eater and Princess Who Brought Sleep. I love Evil Food Eater so much, but the vocals in the original are so strained. Princess Who Brought Sleep is great, especially in the remake where Mothy pushes the instruments further.

Yeah I’ve been doing pretty good!! I’m heavily focused on preparing for a piano exam next week and also finding a new piano to replace my old one cause it has a cracked soundboard and does not sound as good as it did like 8 years ago 😭😭 unfortunately <33 I’m very sad to say goodbye to it but I really hope I find a new piano that I love just as much maybe even more!! I tried out one a few days ago and decided not to get it but it was quite nice to play (and it was a baby grand so it sounded amazing !!!!)

other than that I’ve been learning how to gif and I think it’s really fun I’m slowly getting better at it !! Also been studying for this big AP test I’ll be taking in may and just preparing for the end of the school year.

I’m gonna go find a prom dress soon after my piano exam even though I’m not really used to the whole prom thing and I don’t have an in person schools prom to go to lmao. But my online school has a year end meetup and they sort of hold a seniors prom which my dad wanted me to have a dress to wear when I go to it. So that’ll be in late may/early June. And it’s in the states so I’ll be driving down and seeing a lot of friends too I’m very excited about it 🥹🥹 but it’s gonna be a very long car ride about 75 hours round trip 💀💀

Haechan was a good roommate for the most part. He was fun, a little loud at times and too scheming for his own good, but the fact that he took good care of you was enough for you to look past Haechan’s tendency of becoming a menace to the poor soul that caught his attention.

And if he was behind the vanishing of your lacy panties, a pair that definitely costed more than what you would usually pay for something that would keep you somewhat modest, he sure acted pretty normal about it. Your roommate was known to be pretty brazen in anything he does—he talked big, had this self-assured gait and a blinding smile that could charm anyone—and nothing of his body language screamed that he was guilty of getting his hands into places that were deemed off-limits.

“What?” Haechan asked and it was then you realized that you have been staring at him for too long. “Is there something on my face?”

You took a moment to simply take in his current state. He looked a little ruffled, hair mussed up. He was wearing an old shirt that was most likely plucked from his closet in haste. The glasses he had on framed his sleepy eyes and the equally sleepy, guileless smile almost had you fooled until you saw a flash of lilac peaking from under his pillow, bright against the dark blue sheets.

Haechan didn’t seem to falter when you were grilling him on being caught red-handed. He barely blinked at your spiel of boundaries and how important privacy was when his mind was somewhere else, something that would probably have a conservative clutching their pearls for dear life.

The sigh you let out was harsh, exasperated. “Why do you even have these?”

He shrugged, “so I can jerk off to you.” he said it straight. Said it as if he was talking about something menial like the weather.

You didn’t even know what to say to that. Nothing could have prepared you for the nonchalance Haechan showed and the smirk that pulled at his lips was enough to tell you that he was rather proud of what he did too.

“You make it really hard for me to stay away, y’know,” he mumbles, and the next thing you knew was that he has you pressed up against his bedroom door, “I really tried my best, but all I could think about is fucking you on every flat surface of this damn apartment.”

“Do you know what that’s like?” Haechan whispers, hot breath ghosting your neck, big hands pawing at the soft dips of your curves. “having what you want right there in front of you, but knowing you can’t touch it? It’s enough to drive someone insane.”

There’s a sharp intake of breath when you felt the soft press of his lips against the little notch where your neck and shoulder meet. “It’s enough to drive me insane,” his lips starts trailing higher and higher, leaving a scorching path, until you found yourself facing him head on. There’s a richness to Haechan’s eyes, something dark and intense brewing in the endless pools. You’ve never felt so seen ever in your life until this very moment.

“Won’t you let me have a taste?”
