I'M BACK!! But instead of that i'll bring back that one time i drew ryoma with sharp teeth saying i was having ideas, well here they are The ryoma with sharp teeth is REVERSE RYOMA

i was inspired by that one fanart of ryoma with a white/pink palette, the concept for this is like this so far:

You (yes you) work at a modeling agency as a photographer where ryoma starts working after getting out of jail, in this AU fuyuhiko got him out and is helping him, but ryoma isnt still too comfortable with the mafia and violence so instead of helping fuyu he decides to go another way, since he already has a great body and he needed a job quickly he went to a modeling agency, but the money, while a lot, isnt enough to support him living so he has a part time job that while its not a lot of money its more constant than the model money (its harder for him because of his disability, not a lot of brands want little models), so you get assigned to him and you handle his photos when the job doesnt have one included (if it does you act as his manager), after that you start to develop a relationship with him. SO, while the relationship is still early on (no confession) reverse ryoma appears and as his name indicates he is basically the oposite of normal ryoma, brash, rude, very seductive, too full oh himself, smokes real cigs, and an attention whore, his "goal" is annoying ryoma so they get in a lot of fights (all initiated by rev ryoma)

they usually dont go too far, more like brothers fighting, and since they're the same guy they already know the weak spots of each other so it all mostly comes down to who gets there first

Ryoma while finds it annoying, cant do much since no one knows about rev ryoma, at least not more than you and him know, and its like he has magic so if he doesnt want to be found you will NOT find him

its also not like you dont help but since rev ryoma is more aggressive and well, he IS ryoma too, he is too strong so its mostly between the two of them. ALTHOUGH, once you try to come to terms with him he quickly catches on what's going on between you two and begins to try to steal you away from ryoma

Tho he is not aggressive in the fighting sense with you, its mostly stuff like showing you how much of a better ryoma he is, and trying to charm you a little more... upfront than ryoma, but ultimately its your choice, who would you pick? normal ryoma or reverse ryoma? or go alone? or maybe... a fourth option?? (^///^)

Um. So. I may have gotten stressed and started transcribing FEH’s story mode. Might currently have all of book 1 written down. Perhaps a third of the way into book 2.

This started as a way to have the preface chapters handy since they’re not replayable. But then I looked on the FE wiki and saw that they only have a small fraction of the chapters written down. And that scared me, because means that my hyperfixation has a nonzero chance of becoming lost media if the app were to go down one day. So now I have all of book 1 in my back pocket, including the preface, two intermissions, and the two relevant xenologues. Once I’m further along and have a few more books accounted for, I have no problem making the document public. But until then I encourage others to also write some of its content down. Just in case, you know? Especially those prologues and Tempest Trials.

With that PSA out of the way, omg book 1 hi!!!! It’s been forever!!!!

Apparently, I haven’t reread book 1 in its entirety since I first played Heroes! I’ve gone back to look for specific scenes and replayed the levels on harder difficulties (self inflicted or otherwise), but I haven’t done a thorough second pass before. Which was news to me, because that meant I was consistently blindsided by scenes and characterization that I completely forgot about! Did any of you remember that Zacharias was apparently Alfonse and Sharena’s childhood friend? I didn’t! But there it is, chapter 7 part 5 after battle cutscene, Anna specifies that aspect of their relationship. That’s crazy! How does the timeline even line up on that??? If he spent his childhood in Askr, how did he manage to have a strong relationship with his significantly younger sister? How did he find himself rubbing shoulders with enemy royalty? Could he have inadvertently met Peony? I’m not changing my takes on his character, but I would love to know.

Speaking of character, apparently seven years spent writing a character naturally changes how they sound! Who would have thought. It made seeing the book 1 versions of our Askr trio a little jarring, but in an oddly nostalgic way! This was a phase of the game where the story, its characters, and its world existed with the singular purpose of introducing new players to what Heroes was trying to do. Which was, at the time, being a cute yet unobtrusive gacha app tie in with simplified FE mechanics to give you that gameplay fix on the go. And to its credit, it does do a good job of this! It ain’t a masterpiece, but I was charmed by its emphasis on showing off all these cool characters you could go summon. Ryoma gets to talk for a few lines and you are going to look at his very pretty art! But that meant that the world and characters of Zenith take a bit of a backseat. They’re not here to be too complicated. The Order of Heroes are the friendly faces that go on adventures and meet these heroes that you can summon for only $19.99. But we all know where the game and its story is going to go from here. That emphasis is going to wane as FEH grows into its own identity (and also earn IntSys over $1 billion worldwide).

But that’s a later development. Before that fundamental shift is where book 1 sits. It’s in this fascinating position where these characters have yet to solidify into their recognizable forms. And if you don’t believe me, chapter 9 part 4 has a scene where Sharena and Alfonse’s roles have reversed. For once, Sharena is posing the cautionary “what if the information we are getting from this total stranger is a trap?”, to which Alfonse responds “nah I’m getting a vibe that it’s fine and that we should believe him whole heartedly.” Like??? Huh???? It’s Bruno, but still, that’s hilarious! Alfonse’s pragmatism bordering on paranoia hasn’t established itself as a massive driver of his character yet. Nor has Sharena’s role as trusting emotional core and moral compass of the group. It was very easy to borderline Mandela Effect it into being there, but it isn’t. Not quite. There are hints, sure, but once again these characters were initially made to be simple at the time. The depth doesn’t quite exist yet.

It wasn’t until I was writing this very paragraph that it finally dawned on me why the Askr trio voice lines, especially Alfonse’s lines, are such a big deal. That's where Alfonse’s character arc with trusting Kiran resides. There's the pragmatism we know and love! It’s not super present in the text of book 1, but the depth of these characters can be found in the voice lines you unlock from building them and earning the crown jewel level 40 conversation. That’s where Alfonse’s arc with his self isolating behaviors crumbles at that sight of one silly tactician. That’s where Sharena finally wins a fight against her own loneliness by forming genuine friendship with this stranger form a strange land, who is appreciative of her loud eccentricities. That’s where Anna apologizes about her initial underestimation of Kiran, thanks them for being more reliable than she could have ever hoped for, and swears that whatever hell may come their way, they’re in this together. The books themselves don’t seem to reflect this characterization until book 2, where they overall act more in accordance with the rest of the narrative. It’s as if they're taking from the voiced lines’ example and extrapolating more on the story they imply.

The one standing in slight contrast to all this is Bruno, as he's the most interesting character in book 1. It's blaringly obvious he's Zacharias, but it's genuinely amusing how deep he is in his own gaslighting. He can't manipulate, mansplain, manwhore his way out of this one folks, but he's certainly going to try! His lies aren't even that good, but it honestly contributes to how at wits end he is. Like, sure honey, I totally believe you that you just killed Zacharias. I bet he has an eight-pack too. Just take a nap for two minutes. But then everyone believes him because our protagonists have yet meld their group braincell. Overall, an amusing time.

I don't have a particular point I'm trying to make with this one. Just having a fun and pointing out the things I've noticed. Might give a little update for every book I complete. However many that will be.

It is such a wild time to be watching QL, there is SO MUCH every day. And a lot of it is really good?!

Today I watched EIGHT different shows, and of them, I was really happy with the episode for all but one. Here are a few words about the ones I had a good time with today:

Addicted Heroin Thailand crossed the first hurdle of adaptation by including the kidnapping scene. Looks like they're continuing to stay true to the source. I appreciated that this scene in particular retained the emotional core while toning down the SA threat (though Hero's desire is still very much present). This is a solid adaptation so far!

Reverse 4 U is using the powers so well, and I am loving the sister relationship, especially how they tease one another around their powers. It's also building to the relationship turn between Four and Wa in a believable way, which I'm really enjoying.

Peaceful Property is delightful and as @lurkingshan already articulated so well, I love what is being set up re: inequality. Plus this show is just so funny! it's balancing these two threads really well and doing a good job maintaining the haunting-of-the-week energy so far.

Love is like a poison had an incredible first episode, I love the effects and cutaways in this show, and the way it is making fun of its protagonist is so much fun. Ryoma is a dork with main character syndrome and I am obsessed with him. Curious how they're going to turn around this setup into a romance!

I Saw You In My Dream was a baller episode, @my-rose-tinted-glasses wrote about how great it is to see a conversation like this between friends as well as between lovers; all of the conversations in this episode were good (between both couples, between the besties, and between the parents). I really appreciate how, as many folks have said, everyone in a relationship in this episode wants to have sex, and the barriers to having sex are real and discussed openly. Big fan of everything in this ep. We've really departed from the dreams, which I think we need to get back to, but this ep was worth the deviation.

The On1y One continues to be incredible; Thank you in particular to Faiza (@usertoxicyaoi) who has been giffing like mad to capture every important conversation in this episode which was so many of them. The one about moving to the dorms together made me misty fr. I love when youths who did not get a chance to have a childhood get to blow bubbles.

Unlock Your Love also started today, I really enjoyed the very pulpy and trope-filled previous show this team put together (Lucky My Love) so I've been excited for this. We have a workplace GL filled with canon bisexuals, a grumpy/sunshine dynamic with a history from college, and a playgirl. I'm so seated.

I don't usually do a roundup post like this but it just hit me how much good television I got to watch today, and how rare it is that I have this good a time with almost everything I'm watching, and I needed to capture the moment.

Tomorrow, all 6 episodes of A Time of Fever drop on iQIYI, as well as How to Make a Million Before Grandma Dies on Netflix, and that's in addition to the episodes of The Onl1y one, The Two of Us, Monster Next Door, Twilight Out of Focus, and probably Seoul Blues that will be dropping too.

I'm really having trouble keeping up with everything airing, everything I want to write about it, and everything being said about the shows on tumblr. It's the best possible problem to have!

Elise: You would think she's just a girl but she hides at least 15 genders under her bed alongside her contraband sweets. Nobody knows where she's getting all these..it's alarming

Xander: Xander has one solid gender. No one is quite sure what it is but he's definitely got a total of one. As you can see from his being so high on the list with only one gender, this family isn't very high on them.

Hinoka: She has like 89.5% of a gender and that gender is lesbian.

Ryoma: His gender is part Hoshidan, part his beautiful, illustrious hair when it's not in that weird headpiece. That is to say, one part is very deeply instilled in his personality, the rest is left to the imagination, you never see it but you know it exists. His gender would be sort of enigmatic if it wasn't SO in your face…known but unknowable, y'known?

Camilla: Has about 75% of a gender that can very loosely be described as being a woman. It's close enough that she doesn't bother explaining it beyond that but like there's 25% something else that she doesn't really touch.

Sakura: Whatever gender she has she does not think she's doing it very well. She's actually doing the best out of anyone because she's sweetiepie :)

Takumi: Takumi has got like half a gender. He had to move the rest of it out to make room for his crushing inferiority complex. Actually no, I think his gender IS having an inferiority complex.

Leo: Taking note of Takumi having only half of gender, decided he must become even less gender. This failed, he has the same thing going on now just in the opposite direction. Put them together and you now have every form of gender angst imaginable.

Corrin: No matter which Corrin you select at the start of Fates they both have just the vaguest hint of gender, dedicated to whatever meshes best with their siblings at the moment. Their gender is loving their family and having fun and also the inexplicable horror of existing in a nonhuman body and the alienation they feel because of it. Also autism.

Azura: They have so little gender that I consistently forget that they're supposed to be canonically a woman. You're telling me that if you could just sit by bodies of water and sing a little song and do cool shit all day you'd care about gender?? Yeah right.

*Ranking is NOT on gender they are, as they are all gender in some way. It’s about how much gender is in their gender. Also none of this is that serious because I could literally reverse the list and still make a case because they're my sillies :)

your rambles are music to my ears... sadly it can't be considered canon i think but the evangelion event fueled my ae addition, and i recall a scene where ein wanted to sacrifice the children and tesla was like 'wtf is wrong with you, you changed lieserl' and ein was just like 'yeah, people change.' though she seemed fond of mei that she knew as a baby; knowing in canon that her father ryoma worked for ae and that she knew kiana extremely young as well i can't believe they wasted the potential of lieserl getting attached to the trio more than 'let's sacrifice them it is life' perhaps my perception is biased but back in the vn lieserl used to be the youngest, and seemed to be the most philanthropist among the group (excluding welt) implicitly at least. she was always trying to reasure him and let him live his life, barely minded tesla's antics, questioning edison's mindset bc it was harmful to mankind, they even decided that ae would use auto pilot mechas and not women as valkyries. tesla was far from misanthropist but she seemed more like 'life is life ?' now the tables are somewhat reversed, ein became a cold vessel with clearly morally questionable choices and tesla is the one grieving all their loss explicitly, esp those closes to her like joachim, welt, emma etc (even during a scene when talking to theresa, in present, she wanted to choke otto what all the bloodshed and what ae went through)

Hell yes in the context of the event this was an insanely morally difficult conversation they had. And not just in this event but in general I think they have this interesting tendency of calling each other by their first names when they have some serious or intimate moments and they want to talk not with the mask but with the soul? (or when they tease each other, of course)

Can we also appreciate this scene? A masterpiece!

I'm sorry but can I also mention the Rosemary's event? I can't help but love that plot twist when it was revealed that Joyce didn't actually die and his soul was in Joffrey's body all along and Tesla and Ein were so bad at mourning him that Ein's poor acting skills gave themselves away? 😂

Idk I love all those events in which AE take part for they can be both dramatic and tragic as the eva and rosemary ones or they can be totally chaotic and ridiculous as Gemina Invasions (we've never seen the continuation of it have we? Like Tesla is forever stuck somewhere across Bubble Universes with Bronya on the bike trying to catch Rosa and Liliya and Ein is forever enslaved by the Jinn for the sake of instant noodles debt lmao) or this Odd Drifter einsla moment still lives rent free in my brain:

And this drastic psychological change is what I love about them but I can't help but wonder will this ever lead them to some sort of a conflict, especially with Joachim gone. Because Tesla often complains about Ein's "morally questionable choices" but it seems like she can't fully understand Ein's behaviour or do something with it. Maybe at this point It can't be fix. So I hope that the writers won't forget about them as a deeply written characters and they'll have the third and probably the final wave of development.

Reverse uno card : Jugdral edition

2014 : "yay, i can't wait for a Judgral remake, with updated graphics!!!"

2024 : "gods please no remake"

What happened in ten years to make me dread the remake I would have sold my soul for back in the days?

Well... IS's policies and new writing, mainly.

While I was joking about "Genealogy of the Holy Self Insert" in 2015, I still had faith in eventual Jugdral remakes. Sure, we were in the big Fateswakening era where the only things I could frown at IS were the "writings" worshipping self inserts (Ryoma being jealous of Corn's talents, when Corn was like, 5?) - but I still had hope for a more "serious" FE, and I first I was very delighted by FE15 - no self insert, a more "serious" setting, no hyperbolic time chambers to try to explain in watsonian words why second gens exist, etc...

But there was still something ringing dead wrong with FE15, which I only noticed thanks to FE16 and its years of discourse - at one point, IS's writing went in a certain direction that makes it impossible, imo, for us to have a "correct" Jugdral remake, as long as IS still follows this direction.

I'm not talking about uwufest - even if it is part of the larger problem - but back in FE15, I remember being really pissed at the schizophrenia of the plot : saying one thing and the inverse at the same time.

The narration reminds us of the classic Kaga lesson : whatever madness exists in dragon/gods, a greater madness/evil lurks in the heart of men.

And yet, we have the Hero (who was so cajoled by the plot that, at times, you have to wonder if Alm wasn't the devs's self insert, he's lavished with praises almost as extensively as Ike was!) saying nonsense - without being contradicted by characters at all (or when Celica does it, she admits later she's wrong) - like Duma being responsible, mainly, for the events that transpired in Valentia and, novelty that wouldn't have been in the original game since the character was made for the remake, Berkut's fall and madness.

By that point in the game, the player saw that Berkut hunts low class people for what he sees and perceives as sport, is the textbook classicist asshat noble, but has a lot of pression on his shoulders due to his role of being the heir of the Empire, pression that isn't alleviated at all by his Uncle who mocks him and refuses to give him a third chance... to fight against a person said uncle very well knows cannot be defeated by Berkut himself, especially as said Uncle pretended to "care" for him, only to pit him against his trueborn son whom he names his heir just before dying.

Point is : Berkut feels betrayed by Rudy and goes mad - because of this betrayal : Rudolph named him heir when he fully knew Alm was alive and was the true heir he always wanted, in Berkut's eyes, no matter what he did, it wouldn't have mattered to Rudolph since Rudolph planned on giving Alm his throne since day 1 - of course, without telling him a thing and making him believe he would one day become Emperor.

Is it Duma's fault that Berkut went off the deep-end in Part 4? Because Rudolph's shit gambit involved playing with the life of his nephew and crush it in a bid to have Alm unify the continent against Duma ? Or... it's just Rudolph being an asshole, not curbing the worst of his nephew tendencies (and in a larger part, of Rigel in general) ?

Now, Rinea. She too, is called one of Duma's victims, and yet, who pushed her in Duma's magic pyre that turns women in witches? Duma himself?

No.

Berkut, who already, when pissed tells her "silence woman" pushes his fiancée and love of his life in a pyre to sacrifice her, because in his grief and rage (caused by Rudy!!!) Rinea is only a pawn to be sacrificed to gain more power to kill Alm. Sure sure, Berkut is redeemed in death and Rinea - in a classic Kaga style writing that wasn't here made by Kaga since this plot is basically new so where the fuck does this sexism come from - forgives him and they both die and ascend to another plane of existence.

The point is, despite what Alm says, Berkut and Rinea's fates weren't caused by Duma's degeneration - but by Rudolph and Berkut's own actions.

Heck, I remember when I was sort of live-blogging my run back then, Desaix's greed and lust for power wasn't fueled by Mila's apathy : it wasn't Mila who burnt Celica's house and tried to cook Conrad, it was Desaix, and why Desaix did it? Because he wanted to become king. That's it, and that's all.

So why FE15 - while giving the Kaga message - still tries its hardest to pin the blame of everything "wrong that happened" on... dragon gods, refusing to acknowledge the own responsibilities of humans in their suffering?

I think we had that lunar dialogue at the end of FE15 (or in part 4?) where Clive (i think?) tells Alm without gods giving their blessings, people in Valentia will starve, and Alm saying that may be so, but ultimately Valentia will survive and work hard through those upcoming harsh times to demonstrate how humans, when they work together, can achieve things without needing to rely on Gods - basically, King Alm tells his people to starve now because Humanity will come out stronger afterwards, since they will have learnt to grow their own food without needing magic dragon blessings to make the ground fertile.

... yeah. That's definitely going to work.

FE15 took the Kaga lesson to try to hammer some "humanity fuck yeah!" Square JRPG message and it completely messed up what FE2 tried to say.

(I confess, retconning Duma'n'Mila in dragon gods like Naga from Archanea was a big part in this shitstorm - that was also retconned to explain Grima from FE13! - i mean Duma'n'Mila have to die because they're degenerating, but they didn't get the memo from Gotoh living overseas that degeneration can be stopped by using dragonstones, instead of being a fatality that must be dealt with death...)

Humans cannot be held responsible for what they did, everything BaD that happened is somehow due to the influence of dragon-gods : even if it means "suffering" and sacrificing a part of your population, this choice is a good one to get rid of the obviously nefarious influence of dragon-gods.

So, is it so surprising that FE16 - the most popular title in the franchise uwu - went in the same direction?

Even if it tried to mitigate the "gods BaD" spiel because the avatar - Billy - is the Goddess reborn, the thing is the CoS - aka the dragon - is blamed for humanity's mistakes through each route (AM dodges the question completely) and all routes end up with the dragon going away (her skull being cracked open, or she retires, or she dies off-screen, or she dies because the plot commands so unless you want, as the player, to shag her).

"But in VW, Claude reconsiders his initial stance!"

And yet, it is only off-screen that he seemingly becomes aware that Fodlan people are not superpals with Almyra because Almyra raids them, not because Rhea told them Almyrans are BaD, that's why he tries to negotiate - off-screen and post-game - some sort of ceasefire between the two parties, or at least make it so Almyra doesn't try to raid Fodlan every Thursday for their weekly dick measuring contest.

No matter the ending, Rhea retires and in the worst support, muses on her failings for "having turned a blind eye" to Fodlan and its people in her quest to resurrect Sothis : aka, Rhea (and the game, since Billy doesn't tell her anything) believes Fodlan's state is due to her inaction and not, you know, the action of the humans who lived in the continent and ruined it of their own volition.

Which is also what fuels the endless discourse about what kind of power she has - or not : Rhea BaD for using her power, but also BaD for not using it and letting humans to their own devices.

Supreme Leader's memetastic line from the trailers ring even more true : in Fodlan, Crusts are to blame for everything. For Adrestian being attracted to young women because otherwise without crests they surely wouldn't seek to bed a 12 years old Doro, for Miklan trying to murder his younger brother (and not because, at least FE16 wise, Miklan is a terrible person who is very jealous and not afraid to kill even a child to get what he feels like he deserves), and for people basically killing their wives/letting their daughters die to get a "suitable" heir.

Humanity/Humans can get a pass for doing horrible things (Berkut burning his fiancée alive) because those horrible things can sort of be linked to "dragon-gods", and so, the blame exclusively lays at their feet.

I am always reminded of that Obi-Wan reply to Anakin when Ani accuses him of having turned Padmé "against" him, Obi-Wan basically tells him he brought this upon himself.

Now, what would Obi-Wan tell a non-recruited Doro who blames the Goddess for the War, the leader she is actually protecting, started?

Billy is no Obi-Wan, so we are left in this limbo where characters are telling you everything wrong that happens in Fodlan is due to "dragon blood" aka their existence and presence, even dragons who blame themselves for "being blind" - but not once do we have the Kaga message, or an Obi-Wan reminding people that they have to take responsability for their own actions : Hanneman will blame crests (dragons) for having killed his sister, but not the man who forced her (marital abuse?) to bear him many heirs until one was "good enough" for him.

Claude blames dragons for creating, both literal and metaphorical walls between Fodlan and Almyra - and it's only in his best ending, after the game credits and off-screen that he seems to realise that those walls were built by Almyrans raiders.

Jugdral was sort of unique for not having a giant eldritch abomination as a boss, unlike the later FE8, we never fight Loptyr in his "original" form, Loptyr is fought through his host, Julius.

And I love Jugdral because unlike Fodlan, the local evil death cult might stage a few skirmishes and manipulations here and there, but Jugdral people are... asses, in general.

Elliot will mount an army to seduce Raquie while Eldie is away - and it's not because Manfroy told him to seduce her, no, Elliot does it from his own will.

Reptor'n'Langobalt'n'Andrei rebel against Kurth and Azmur? Sure, Arvis is pulling some of their strings, but Reptor'n'Langobalt are ambitious, even without Manfroy whispering anything.

Arvis pulls out his gambit... with Manfroy's help (and blackmail?), but also because he genuinely thinks he can sacrifice lives to make HIS world a reality because HE has great ideas about how the world should be and will torch anyone who opposes him.

F!Lewyn, as much as I dislike the character, reminds the cast that while Travant's actions might seem justified to him and to the Thracian people, he is still a man who assaulted a bunch of randoms + non-combattants in a desert, amushed them and slaughtered them : no matter his reasons and how justified he was, Travant is still a criminal to Jugdral people.

In Jugdral, people do things and have to take responsability for it - Oldvis basically dies after losing everything he had - by Seliph's hand (and with his own participation!!) because Oldvis has to take responsability for what he did in Barhara. Dragon blood and Dragon people are never blamed for the shitty state Jugdral is in in the 1st or even 2nd gen, if Danan turned Isaach in giant brothel, it's not Julius-Loptyr who asked him to do so, nor Manfroy.

At least, that was the case for the pre FE15/FEH/FE16 Jugdral.

Now...

While I want to blame FE16 for this shift, I know the roots are more ancient (FE15?), IS's writing seems to favour a certain narrative, aka people having sad and or complicated fates because of their brands and Holy Blood - when the ONLY case of having a fate tied to Holy Blood was the Curse of the Gae Bolg, aka a sibling quarrel between Dain and Noba that will eventually "curse" Noba descendants, but through the events of the game we know that curse is more like a prophecy : Quan doesn't die because he had Noba Holy Blood, Quan dies because Travant kills him in Yied. Why Travant kills him? FE5 reveals Quan and his forefathers are basically letting Thracians starve and refuse to "give" them arable lands, or even export food.

Now, did Travant kill Quan because Quan had major Noba Holy Blood, or because Quan (and his forefather)'s policies made Thracians so desperate that their king feels like he has to resort to murder to "save" his people?

The issue is more complicated than "he has Noba HB so I had to kill him".

Come FEH and we had, in 2018 (before FE16 but after FE15) this :

My blood has granted me gifts, it's true. I have expended every effort to be worthy of those gifts. That same blood makes it impossible for me to live a peaceful life. That's a lesson I learned from my mother...

Now, even if I was dissecting and hc'ing and posting about Saias a lot for 5 years, I fully understand Saias is a character with maybe 20 lines in FE5, so you can only dissect the script and theorise and read between invisible lines to get something about the character.

But this?

It might be a reference to Cowen's last words who basically tells him his job is to "pass on" his Fjalar HB, and how having major Fjalar HB was the reason why Manfroy tried to kill him when he was younger (his mother Aida died to protect him).

And yet, FEH here seems to imply Aida died because Saias had Fjalar HB, and not, y'know, died because Manfroy wanted to kill him due to this HB.

It wasn't HB who killed Aida, but Manfroy!

FE5 never reveals why - but if Fjalar HB was the reason why Manfroy targeted Saias, then why the fuck wasn't Oldvis iced earlier, since he has the same brand and blood?

In a way, Saias blaming HB here as the "reason" why his mother died and why he cannot live a "peaceful life" is similar to a Leif who would blame Quan'n'Ethlyn for being the reason why Travant and the Empire were after his life : what is to blame, their "blood" that makes people want to kill them, or the fuckers who want to kill them?

Granted those lines from FEH completely miss the point of Saias as a character - FE5!wise Saias is in a class that cannot use fire magic, when his HB automatically gives him the highest rank in fire magic, and he is funnily enough the only character who "retreats" in his death quote -> Saias doesn't "expend" every effort to be worthy of HB, he hides and doesn't use the abilities given by said HB!

We can say, mkay, this was just FEH trying to fit their "gods and their influence BaD" narrative and missing the real culprits, aka humans themselves (Manfroy is one!) - from FE15 - in Jugdral, even if it meant retconning a character no one cares about.

But then, last year, we had Galzus' FB :

You speak of the blood of the Sword Saint Od. Perhaps. Is that the reason you have been set on a path of violence and bloodshed?

Nyx says Galzus' "curse" isn't tied to his HB, but it's basically his regret at not having been able to save his daughter.

So far, it's completely the inverse of what I decried, so this was a good FB, right?

Why Galzus's brand "compels him" to lead a cruel life - when it was just established that Galzus fell to despair and became a mercenary who kills for money after the loss of his daughter?

Before losing Mareeta, Galzus, at least per this FB, wasn't killing people right and left as the merc he now is (or was in FE5).

Now, much like Saias...

Why was Galzus left to roam around Jugdral with a toddler to begin with?

I had a daughter. When my wife died, I brought my daughter with me as I traveled around Jugdral.

This FB establishes that Galzus settled with Mareeta's biomom for a while, but when she died he "traveled around". Why Galzus couldn't return "home" and had to "travel around"?

You know the Ribaut family was devastated by our own House Isaach.

Timeline wise : Ribaut is already demolished during the prologue of FE4, and Mareeta is no older than Leif himself, which means she was born after Galzus' grandfather and Ayra's brother, aka, his uncle, beheaded his dad and demolished his kingdom. Galzus, in exile, had Mareeta, and then had to "travel around" Jugdral because his home had already been demolished by "House Isaach" -

Note how Ayra talks about the Ribaut (i prefer rivough but meh) family when she talks about her very own sister - Galzus' mother. Jugdral family trees being what they are, Shanan, Larcei, Scatach and Galzus are actually cousins, Galzus is Ayra's own nephew, just like Shanan!

Anyways, in FE4, the reason given behind Ribaut's destruction is their attack on Darna, so the Isaachian royals killed them.

Galzus' "cruel life" wasn't compelled by his HB, Galzus' life took a turn for the worst when his Uncle and Grandpa knocked at his door and slaughtered his entire family, destroying their Kingdom.

So why FEH tried to fit his backstory in some sort of "dragon blood is to blame" Fodlan narrative?? They at least acknowledge the bad blood (lel) between Isaach's royal family and Ribaut's, hell, Ayra even wants to say Mareeta is a part of Isaach's royal family in her FB with her son, so it's not to whitewash the Isaachian royal family because their units are more popular and would sell more...

Contrary to Saias, Galzus's writing and his FB seem to have been made by people who cared and didn't completely ignore what the character was about so... why this emphasis on his HB ??

Are we bound in post FE16 releases to have, at least with the current writing team, the excuse of "dragon blood is to blame" ? Galzus cannot blame the Isaachian Royal Family or even the slavers for his (and his daugher's!) fate, but he can blame his HB, aka, a non-entity?

Will HB be now used as a "responsibility free" card, because the fate a character suffers or their actions are only tied to said HB? Arvis will get a pass because his HB compelled him to save the world (tfw Victor prefered to "seduce" women instead), Lewyn will be lightly chided by his mom instead of receiving the beatdown he has in FE4 because his HB now makes him unable to stay in place? Ditto for Ced, Karin won't chew him out for abandoning his mother and sister because his HB compelled him to travel around, so in the end, dragons are to blame for him abandoning his sister and mother?

That's what I'm the most afraid in future Jugdral remakes, that had humans characters with human flaws in a crapsack/shitty verse, the insertion in a future remake of a very Squenix "but aksuhally gods and church bad" when Jugdral is the pinnacle of "the world sucks because people living in this world suck". No need for secret sects manipulating everything in the shadows like FE16's Agarthans, Chagall is a horrible person without needing Manfroy's help, and Hilda will not say "Holy Blood is to blame" when she tortures Tailte to death.

When Tailte is caught and Hilda'd, it's because she participated (or even commited) in parricide, and because her camp/army lost the battle. She doesn't die because of her HB, she dies because Hilda kills her, most likely, for having killed Reptor (Hilda wants to avenge her "father" when fought, i'm pretty sure she means her father in law aka Reptor!).

As befits a game called "Genealogy of the Holy War", people aren't targeted because of their HB, but they are targeted because they are part of a genealogy - see the Leif comparison earlier on : Leif is hunted because he is Quan's son, even if he doesn't have Noba major blood. Seliph is hunted because he is Siggy'n'Deedee's son, not because of his Baldo HB.

In FE4, Manfroy tells Julius Arvis was a thorn at their side because "Fjalar's ways" ran too strong in him - implying he had some moral fiber that would make him oppose the return of Loptyr (but those same "ways" didn't prevent him from torching his own brother and conquering the world...) - I will have to check the translation and og script, but was Saias targeted because he had Fjalar HB, or because he could develop the same moral fiber Arvis does in his later years, or just, because he is Arvis's son? Cowen seems to suggest it is FB, but we know Fjalar HB cannot harm Loptyr so... what was the true reason?

Blaming dragon-gods reduces the complexity of Jugdral's setting and characters - and in a post FEH world where tropes win character contests and sell a lot of alts if they are flanderised enough + a post FE15/16 world where characters, to be likeable enough, have to ditch their responsibilities or at least have the plot elude them to pin them instead on vague and non-important (gacha wise) gods, what is going to happen to Jugdral?

Fanfics are fanfics and people are free to write whatever they want - but I wonder (especially after Nopes and the plethora of 'golden endings' fics that ended up with the CoS as the big bad lol) if fics where Mareeta and Ced blaming their HB for their various hardships is going to become the new canon...

I seriously hope it will never, and it if happens then...

I guess I'll still yell at cloud and nerd about the 1990s versions of those games, completely ignoring the new releases (save for maybe updated artwork).

Tl;Dr : FEH makes me afraid Judgral remakes will borrow the "humanity fuck yeah" page from FE15 and FE16 and put the blame of Jugdral's shitty situation from Jugdralians to... Holy Blood and "dragon-gods", completely missing and rewritting the point of those games. IS already said "fig" to Kaga once or thrice, but this might become the most contentious "fig" they ever give him if they decided to write a Jugdral remake this way.

So, here's some kind of Danganronpa V3 Reverse au. I'm not sure if I'll continue it, but I have some ideas.

So, this is just au, where Danganronpa V3 characters' personalities or roles are switched. So, here's Tsumugi - the protagonist of this crazy story and Kaede, that wants to escape with Tsumugi and everyone. Of course she is the mastermind. So, you might have guessed that Tsumugi was planning to murder the mastermind and was framed by Kaede. But who did she "killed"? Well, there're spoilers below, so be careful. I think this au has it chance to live.

Kaede killed Shuichi, that found the hidden door as the ultimate detective. Then she used it to frame Tsumugi that found that door with Rantaro, that had the survivor perk. After Tsumugi's execution, Rantaro became new protagonist which found out Kaede's true identity eventually.

So, here all characters, that switched their places (their talents are still the same):

Tsumugi - Kaede (I explained their roles)

Rantaro - Shuichi (Rantaro would trust Tsumugi's kindness and tell her everything that he knows about survivor perk and his amnesia while Shuichi would be distant detective, whos investigations are secrets for everyone except for him)

Kokichi - Kaito (Kokichi will be tricky, but smart and friendly sidekick, while Kaito would mess with everyone on trials and invistigations because of him being "Luminary of the stars", which means, that he's always right in everything)

Miu - Maki (I'm still not sure about Maki's role, but I suppose that she'd have her personality, just there would be noone to make her happier, so she would be quite a pain in tha ass. Miu would be the same, just kinder and less horny. She'd be Rantaro's sidekick alongside Kokichi)

Himiko - Tenko - Angie - Keebo (Here's harder. Himiko would be something like Angie. She'd be more active and will make the student council around her "magical" powers. I'm not sure about Tenko, but she'd be the person which goal is protection of everyone in this killing game. She isn't hate males here. Angie still would be religious, but won't impose it no anyone. She'd has some kind of microchip or something in her head, that she'd count as Atua's advices. It's some kind of analog of Keebo's inner voice. Keebo would stay the same most likely, but without his inner voice. He isn't related to the outside world and viewers)

Gonta - Kirumi (Actually will stay the same, but switch chapters. So Gonta would be the culprit in second case (I'm not sure about the reason) while Kirumi would be the culprit in fourth case (I suppose, that her goal would be the same as Gonta's or maybe dispair after realisation that the nation, that she wanted to protect was destroyed))

Ryoma - Korekiyo (Personalities are the same, but Korekiyo will let Gonta kill him, because he would realise (because of the motive) that his sister - his only family member and close person, is dead. I'm not sure about Ryoma, though. He'd be the culprit in the third case, but the reason... I'm still thinking of it)

Five students will survive until chapter 6 - Rantaro, Miu, Tenko, Angie, Kaede. They will find out the truth about Kaede, Danganronpa and Atua's advices for Angie (voice of outside world). Rantaro's past also will be known. He survived previous killing game and agreed to join Danganronpa's new season. Angie and Kaede will die during the execution, while Rantaro, Miu and Tenko will survive.

The “Nohrian and Hoshidan skies reverse” was a localization fuck-up:

Gunter (EN): When the dawn turns... Hmm... Oh, I get it. Once every few decades, the skies above Nohr and Hoshido will reverse. If I remember right, that should happen a few months from now.

Gunter (JP): Dark becoming light… Light becoming dark… I’ve heard of that. It only happens once in several decades, but there’s a phenomena where Nohr’s sky switches colors with Hoshido’s and vice versa. It won’t happen for another several months though.

Sure, the latter doesn't absolutely confirm that switching colors is the only thing that'll happen to the skies, but it'd be ratty as fuck to try and just blindly assume, with no evidence, that two countries' skies magically switching colors with each other for a few days would lead to any sort of changes to the fauna and flora of Hoshido and Nohr when Gunter would have absolutely brought up the color-switcharoo also affecting the weather if that was the case; i don't blame anyone for assuming that to be the case in EN tho, especially when the explanation given is both vaguer and worded in such a way as to heavily imply that the skies are literally changing positions.

(Also, for what it's worth, the color-switching explanation is consistent among Fateswartable, the English Patch, and the raw kanji after being google-translated, leading a decent amount of credence to that being accurate)

I'm on the fence cuz while this does give better context as to why no one seemingly gives a shit in the other routes, I still find it a bit... out of place, in a way.

Nonetheless, there is more of a line up given what we know of what happens in BR and CQ as well that I missed. Corrin, Azura and Gunter exit Valla through the Bottomless Canyon during CQ in Chapter 15, and BR chapter 15, Corrin and Ryoma see the sun rising while in Nohr even though it's not supposed to happen. So that's something.

Chapter 3: Premature Death

“Ryomaaaaaa!!!” Said Haibara running towards a boy with black hair and gray eyes. He’s as tall as Nanami and he’s wearing their uniform jacket open with a white tank top under it.

The boy rolled his eyes with a hint of amusement as he saw him “Yu Haibara!!! It 's been a while!!” They high-five and smiled. His eyes land on Sakura and Nanami “who is the hot girl?”

“Oh… she’s Sakura Gojo,” he said as they walked towards them.

“Gojo? As the same clan as Satoru?” He nodded, “is she powerful?”

“Hell yeah” Ryoma smirks.

“Good, I want to train with her” they reached them and waved “hi Nanami! Good to see you again and who are you?” He asked Sakura with a nice smile.

“I’m Sakura Gojo but Haibara already said so… who are you?” She asked, making sure he knew she saw him asking about her and knowing she was a Gojo.

He smiled “I’m Ryoma Takaba, I was on a mission and the curse spirit was hard to find” he sighed “we had to look for days before I finally found it”

“That sucks…” she said looking at him, he was good looking, she can’t deny it but his attitude was disgusting so she still preferred Nanami.

The following months were busy for them. Sakura had to go on a mission with Ryoma and some other missions with Nanami or Haibara. But one day she was left to do a mission on her own and it was quite difficult but due to her status as a special grade, she could do it alone.

The second year students were sent to look for Mei Mei and Utahime because they were lost for too many days looking for third year students.

Nanami and her made a promise to go to the restaurant after her return. 

While she was on that mission, her friends Haibara and Nanami were sent to protect the Naha airport while Gojo and Geto left to find the housemaid of the Stellar Plasma Vessel, which was a special mission for them.

When she arrived, Satoru and Suguro arrived holding the body of a girl, a little younger than she is. Both of them were covered in blood, the houses around the main entrance were destroyed and her brother’s face and Suguro’s face were down.

“W…what happened?” She asked as Nanami walked behind her and tap on her shoulder 

“I will explain to you later” he said in a whisper and took her somewhere else.

Shoko was there too as they told her about everything that happened, or at least what Suguro told them, but of course they needed an update since Satoru wasn't dead as the other man said.

“So Satoru unlocked the Reverse curse technique on the verge of death?” Shoko nodded “how is Suguro?” asked Sakura leaning on the wall.

“I can’t tell… his eyes seem lost and far away from here” the brown haired girl sighed.

“Shit... I'm sure they were destroyed, that girl was a little younger than me...” she said a little sad.

The two boys walked towards them and Sakura ran towards them hugging Satoru first, then she hugged Suguro who was more in need of a hug. She just hugged him, putting her face on his chest.

Shoko stood next to Satoru and he wrapped an arm around her. She let him do so. He wasn't as affectionate as Suguro but whenever he sought contact, it meant that the mighty Satoru Gojo needed a hug.

They stayed like that for a couple more minutes until Suguro pulled away softly and kissed her forehead “thank you mini Gojo” it was an affectionate nickname everyone started to use to her, especially from the second year students.

“You are welcome” she smiled then turned to the others “what about we have a sleepover?” She said looking at them “only the five of us?”

They turned to Satoru and he nodded, smiling “Sounds like a great idea” he smiled a bit absent.

“Where’s Haibara?” Asked Sakura to Nanami.

“He left to see his grandma. He asked for permission to Yaga sensei” she nodded looking at him.

That night they spent it watching movies, playing video games and even doing a karaoke contest.

At two at night Sakura woke up to drink water and when she was heading back to her bedroom she turned her head and looked at the backyard where she saw Suguro.

She headed towards him “you should be sleeping, tomorrow is hiking day” she smirked sitting next to him “and I don’t want to drag a sleeping beauty”

He chuckled softly “sorry… I couldn’t sleep” he said, looking at her. Then he didn’t say anything for a whole minute looking up at the sky, then he said “she had your eyes… And your attitude” he looked down “Satoru and I felt like we were protecting a powerless version of yourself and I know it sounds stupid or cheesy but it is true and... Watching that... Monkey” she never heard that word from him referring to non sorcerers, for some reasons, hurted her “killing her made it worse”

“Suguro...” He looked at her “we are sorcerers and our job is to protect those who are weaker than us” she locked eyes with him “calling them monkeys sounds awful and disgusting” his eyes opened wider than she ever seemed them opening “I can understand that you are hurt but...”

“You are right...” he said, interrupting her. He was the one who always tried to teach Satoru to care for the weak and try to protect them and now... He was calling them monkeys “I shouldn't have use that word and I'm sorry Saku...”

She sighed “I understand that you are angry Guro... But try to find peace so that we can't always save everyone. There are three special grade sorcerers in the school and neither of us could save that girl”

Suguro smirked a little and looked at her “since when did the little sister become so wise?”

She blushed and punched him softly “don't be silly... I'm serious”

“I know Saku” he smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulders “thank you. You are the best” he kissed her temple and she laid her head on his shoulder.

“No problem and if you need someone to talk to... I'm here” 

“I know” he said and both remained there for a couple of more minutes until both went back to sleep. 

Suguro felt a little lighter but still was bitter towards the non sorcerers and felt uneasy about that hatred but he knew that Sakura was there for him.

The next day was fun, they spent it hiking and making fun. They invited the Kyoto guys and Satoru kept making fun of Utahime and Suguro was closer to Shoko who was also defending Utahime from Satoru.

Nanami and Sakura couldn't believe those were their sempais but still were amused but them.

After that they left for their houses and the following month was relaxed for them. They spent their summer break in between missions and hanging out.

Suguro and Sakura became closer as she was there to support him. Nanami was also very close to her as her usual mission partner.

They were getting stronger and in their second year someone put their eye on Nanami to become a grade one sorcerer.

Meanwhile Satoru was getting stronger, he learned how to use his infinity more efficiently and how to keep his six eyes working without having to turn off his technique like with Toji.

He was getting more missions alone, leaving Suguro by himself, but luckily he had Sakura who was there for him.

“Suguro, Sakura” said Yaga sensei looking at them “I'm aware that right now the high profile missions are done by Satoru since he increases his power and control over his technique which led to give him more solo missions and not be with you Suguro and Sakura is the only special grade in second year so... I want you” he said looking at her “to work with Suguro as his supporter. And I know you are strong enough to deal with the missions by yourself Suguro but I need the girl to work on harder missions”

“No problem sensei. I don't mind and I'm pretty sure that she will be very helpful”

“I'm thankful for the opportunity sensei” she smiled and looked at Suguro then back at Yaga “but what about Nanami? He's my usual partner”

“He's going to join Mei Mei to become a grade one sorcerer so you but in the meantime he will work with Ryoma or Haibara” she nodded.

“Sounds good then” she smiled “I'm sure we can be a great team” she looked at Suguro who also smiled.

The following months were hard for them. They had to fight tons of curses and they spent the rest of the day training. She even copied Ryoma’s technique called Entropy. 

Ryoma could create chaos and disorder where the techniques and curse weapons’ effects don't work as they should be and he can cause degeneration of the barrier which because a great defense against domain expansions, curse energy draining which is added to the user, when Sakura copied this, combined with her high curse energy, turned her into a big container of curse energy and the last ability of entropy is inverted regeneration, which allowed him to stop the reverse curse techniques within his area of effects.

She managed to copy this one and now, with Suguro as her training partner, she was able to control it.

“Satoru, you are getting stronger. I noticed that you are using better the infinity” she told him one morning at their apartment.

“Yes, I wanted to keep it on so I don't get stab again but I couldn't figured out how to do so with getting tired so I decided to use reverse curse to keep my brain fresh and the glasses helps me to not getting tired as I can see body and curse energy information all at once” he said as he drinks a sip of his juice “I noticed that you copied another cool technique” he smiled at her.

“It's pretty cool and it's quite strong” 

“I would like to see it in action. By the way, you are working a lot with Suguro...”

“Yeah... Yaga sensei told us we were going to work together since you are doing missions by yourself and he wanted me to be with another special grade sorcerer” he nodded looking down.

“He and I are losing our friendship... I feel like he still can't forget what happened last year and we haven't spoken since then about it”

“He's struggling with it. He doesn't like the non sorcerers and I'm the one dealing with them whenever we go on a mission. I told them he's shy so they don't bother him but... I'm afraid he might snap one day” she sighed looking down.

“I understand... I had horrible thoughts toward non sorcerers when I retrieve her body and I even wanted to eliminate all those fuckers but... He told me not to...” He signed looking at his sister “please keep him on the right path. I will do my best to talk to him too” she smiled and held his hand.

“I promise it, Satoru”

After that conversation Satoru and Suguro had a thoughtful conversation. Normally they had those kinds of conversation to debrief everything after a mission but this time it was about unspoken feelings. 

Satoru’s guilt at not being able to protect Riko and Suguro’s anger because he should have been there with him in order to fight together but they decided to go separate ways and Toji used it to his advantage.

They decided to stop looking at the past all the time and focused on the future. They still have Sakura to look after.

Haibara and Nanami left for a mission far away and so did Suguro and Sakura.

The two special grade sorcerers arrived a day early and were training when they were called by the teacher Yaga.

They headed to the morgue and there was Haibara’s dead body. Nanami told them it should have been an easy job for them but the curse was actually a grade one, almost touching a semi special grade.

Sakura headed to Nanami, stood between his legs and wrapped her arms around his neck as he was sitting, giving him a hug. He laid his face on her chest and she could feel the man's normally serious and collected, crumble before her. She held him tight and cried with him. 

Suguro was angry, how was it possible to mistake a semi special grade curse to a second grade? After Nanami calmed down, Sakura went to Yaga.

Anger reflected on her face “I want to exorcize that curse myself” she said looking at him.

“Satoru will deal with it”

“No sir. Let me go... I can do it” she said with some tears falling down her cheeks.

He sighed “ok go... But Suguro will be there too” she nodded and dragged the black haired man with her.

They headed to the location and there the curse was destroying things and killing people.

Sakura started to fight that cursed spirit with all her power. She was using the Entropy to slowly get weaker when the curse tried to use a domain expansion, it didn't have the curse energy to do it.

Allowing her to use, for the first time, her own domain.

“Domain Expansion” she said doing sighs with her fingers “Bandit’s Library”

The space turned into a huge library, full of books. She extended a hand and a book appeared on her hand, on the cover it said “Entropy: degeneration”

By instinct she set that her guaranty hit will be degeneration, so the curse spirit and everything in her domain, except form her and someone she's touching will become older and weaker while it is in her domain.

It became older in seconds and turned into dust, so the moment this happened, the domain ended and she felt in Suguro’s arms tired.

They went to the assistant’s car “is she ok?”

“Yeah but she used a domain expansion and even with her high count of curse energy, a domain needs a lot of energy and she dealt with the curse on her own” he nodded and let Suguro lay her on the back seat of the car then he got in and put her head on his lap as they headed back home.

She slept the rest of the journey and woke up when they arrived at the school. Suguro was sleeping as well, laying his head on the closed window.

“Gu...Guro?” She said rubbing her eyes, looking up at him “what happened?”

He woke up rubbing his eyes too and looked down at her “oh hey Saku” he smiled and looked out of the window “we are almost arriving at school”

“What happened to the curse spirit?” 

“You defeat it with a domain expansion” he smirked at her and she blushed softly then sat next to him “you did an amazing job and today, I was your support this time and I'm so proud of you” he smiled and hugged her and she hugged back.

They walked out of the car and headed to their friends. Suguro got her a coke and one for himself as they shared everything.

After that, Nanami seemed disappointed in the school but decided to stay there to finish his classes and go to business school. He will quit being a sorcerer.

He told this to Sakura while they were eating in their usual restaurant.

“Ken... I understand that you are disappointed, I'm too and so are Satoru and Suguro but we can change it when we became stronger enough to eliminate them”

“Satoru already can do it but he can't stop the bureaucracy and the stupid need for power of some people” said Nanami closing his fist in anger.

“I will support you, Ken. And if you don't feel well as a sorcerer, I understand that and I'm going to miss you” she held his hand and he kissed it softly and she blushed.

“Thank you. I will remain here next year and then will go to business school” she smiled and nodded then they went back to school.

Nanami decided to stop accepting missions and only focused on his studies but he continued to train his body and techniques with Sakura and Ryoma.

One day Sakura was sent with Suguro to fight a curse spirit in a small town. They discovered two little girls that people started to blame for the curse attack. 

Sakura made sure to protect them and take them out of the box they were put into while Suguro dealt with the curses.

She was so sweet to them that she easily gained their trust. After a couple of minutes Suguro joined. She could tell his face seemed disgusted by the non sorcerers.

“I should kill them” he whispered to her when they got out of the car after the two girls fell asleep.

She held his hand and interlocked their fingers “no... Suguro. They were just scared and didn't understand how that works. We need to take them back to the school and maybe raise them” she looked at him “if you kill them... You will become an evil sorcerer and neither Satoru nor I will kill you” 

He squeezed her hand and looked at her “ok I won't kill them. But I don't think I can deal with non sorcerers anymore so I might just work at the school” 

“Good then. And I will help you with that and with those girls” she kissed his cheek and they left. He wrote what happened to let the higher-ups know his decision to take care of the girls and stopped to deal with non sorcerers after what happened in that village.

Meanwhile Satoru took in Megumi Fushiguro after talking to the Zen’in clan about their deal with Toji. The two best friends decided to change the Jujutsu world with the new generations and Sakura will help them with it.

I decided to let the Hidden Inventory arc, but I changed the outcome of it. Suguro won’t turn evil thanks to our new character but he will take care of those two girls like in canon events, but still Haibara needed to go for Nanami’s character development. While Satoru will take care of Megumi and his sister. I imagined Satoru, Suguro and Sakura raising Mimiko, Nanako, Megumi and Tsumiki.

We don’t know when Nanami left the school but in my headcanon he left after he graduated since in Jujutsu High they have normal classes too, and thought so because Shoko got into medical school so she must have a good school record.

Spoilers for prince of tennis both old and new one.

Just for a laugh

Freshmen hang out. The word itself seems too alien for Ryoma Echizen. He was called out by Dan Taichi to meet at the courts of Rokkaku Jr High. Basically hinting that the over-zealous guy Aoi Kentaro would be present as well.

He certainly didn't expect Kintaro Toyama to be making an entrance as well. Sipping his ponta with a slight concern for his peace, he mentally and psychologically prepared for the worst case scenario of three similar idiots with the same mindset.

Horio, Kachirou, and Katsu were invited too to help and watch their meet-up. The senpais insisted they had their own time right after the nationals.

"Amazing Echizen-kun! You've beaten the child of God!" From Aoi.

"Right!! I can't seem to catch up, desu(Note that Dan's habit of saying desu is a Japanese polite form... he uses it to imply more politeness than average)

"Koshimae! You promised we'll have a match together!" (Kintaro is a cutie who can't read Echizen's kanji name... so that's why it's reversed ... though i think he's intentionally saying it wrong now)

Exactly as he predicted. Ryoma sighed, now lowering his cap. "Jeez, you guys are like three siblings working together to torment me"

Aoi grabbed his wrist with excitement, gleaming over his large dark eyes. "Matte (wait), did we torment the indomitable Echizen-kun?"

"That's insane kentaro-kun!" Dan grabbed his other hand to stop him from finishing his drink. Matches barely began, Kintaro was whining that he wanted to settle the one point match with him. Of course, he's got no room to breathe as he pulled his wrists free. Sighing, he rolled his shoulder. "Alright, mada mada dane, how about a warm-up?"

"Good idea desu!" Dan got up and soon prepared the courts with the freshmen trio.

Horio said now, picking the baskets of balls over to the super freshmen rookies of Seigaku and Rokkaku. "ne, Echizen seems too stiff, as always..."

Katsu and kachiro exchanged similar sad expressions, and hearing this, Kintaro folded his arms above his head, looking up with wondering thoughts "now... Has Koshimae ever laughed? I never saw that side of him before"

Dan pondered too "me neither..."

From Horio "Though he's in my class, all he does is sleep... nothing special"

While Aoi and Ryoma warm up, it made Kintaro run after too, who left out of boredom to practice. Dan clapped when an idea popped to his head, "How about we make him laugh, desu

Katsu smiled now. "Hmm? That's a nice idea, but will it be easy?"

They knew it won't... nothing will crack the cold stoic Ryoma-kun. At least, that's what they believed.

Telling this plan to Kintaro and Aoi, who agreed with bright grins, it was an OK plan. Less did they know Ryoma was suspicious about their private conversations they had without him.

He ignored as always, though he had a lingering doubt, if it would be his own inconvenience.

First, it was Dan who constantly pretended to slip when his bandana fell over his eyes. It was without a doubt funny, but Ryoma's too slow. He turned to the fallen kid now frowning. "What's wrong?"

Embarrassed, he looks away "nothing desu, i slipped!"

Horio and the other two worked hard to do Dan's comic falls and trips, but all they got was a cold Ryoma saying, "Stop screwing around,"

Katsu groaned in defeat. "He's tough..."

Kachirou had a weak smile, now picking up the balls they dropped "Well we got time... don't worry"

After hours passing the afternoon swiftly, they still couldn't do so. Echizen seemed to intentionally have avoided it as he had vaguely noticed a plan being proceeded, though he didn't know the subject matter.

Finally, Aoi cleared his throat after his power served and dared to say, "What do you call a fake pasta?"

Ryoma, startled by this he made a weak lob to digest what Aoi suddenly said. "H-huh... what do you mean?"

"The answer..." he smashed, and Ryoma hits it back with a drive B that Aoi couldn't return.

"I don't know," patting the racket at the lame attempt of a joke. Aoi frozen by the amazing move stammered as he missed his ball "A-ah its an impasta!"

He laughed nervously now, receiving one of his own powerfully controlled serves, defeated. Utterly.

"I shouldn't have listened to davide-senpai..."

"Oh no," Echizen said with a hint of a smile. "His jokes were worse than yours... but it's not like I don't enjoy them"

"Wait, you enjoy them?" Aoi was surprised now, still, he was barely conscious that Ryoma was winning two games from him now.

"Kidding..." Sticking his tongue, he took his sets, leaving four games to six. He won.

"So mean Echizen-kun! You will pay for that, " he glared playfully. Still, they still couldn't make him laugh. He had a small smile, however... seeing how he didn't seem to mind their company anymore, he allowed it to slide.

Dan sighed, "Well, it was a good effort, Aoi-kun..."

Kintaro was next now tossing up and causing crazy moves, which Ryoma was able to predict even without the mugo no kyochi. Kachirou widened his eyes now. "Ryoma-kun had a hard time with him before the finals, but now he's gotten used to that insane irregular speed"

Aoi gave a wry smile, wiping his brow. "He's another monster too, huh?"

Ryoma missed another set though, seeing how kintaro was equal to four games with him.

"Hooooo!" Kintaro yelled as he was sent spinning up like a top from the courts. This was the move... and Ryoma kept his stance. "Superr ultra great delicious mountain-"

He stopped himself abruptly, suddenly losing his balance and falling face first on the dirt and laughing at himself for his stupid fall. Ryoma's eyes widened in puzzlement and pulled away from the stance "O-Oi... what is wrong with all of you?"

Kintaro still face down, was pretty funny and the rest snickered softly at that. Maybe they got to laugh but not Ryoma. Kintaro got up with a frowny dirty face "Aww guess Koharu and Yuji did it better, i might need to learn tricks!"

Using his racket's handle to irritably rub his temple, he asked. Now, finally, losing his patience. "Seriously... what's going on? I'm not stupid to notice you've been acting weird since the discussion this noon till now"

Everyone watched him, as if they were children who were being scolded by a teacher. Sighing, they gave up. All of them seemed to be in on this.

Dan said this, very apologetically "sumimasen, desu,(sorry) It was my idea... you've been a little rigid, and we've never seen you laugh before"

Ryoma looked at him thoughtfully, then thought a little longer and sighed exaperatedly. "Hmm... is that's what this is about? Why do you care whether i laugh or not?"

Aoi broke in emotionally, reaching for his hand with a tight, hopeful clasp. "But Echizen-kun's smile fits him perfectly, i cant imagine it any longer!!"

Awkward, he couldn't get away from the strong hold at all. The idiots strength is formiddable, thought Ryoma. This time, Kintaro grabbed his other hand with sparkly eyes,"Koshimae! You don't look like you enjoy my matches... so why don't you laugh out a bit once in a while"

"Please Echizen-kun?" Dan

"Yes, Ryoma-kun..." katsu

"Can you do it for us Ryoma-kun?" Kachirou

Again, Ryoma didn't understand what was happening. He totally can't force a laugh when nothing is funny and nothing is happening around him. Has he never laughed before? Well, apart from challenging Atobe with a maniacle laugh, he probably sees where they're coming from.

"Well, you will eventually hear it... Toyama, let's continue" he turned away breaking their hearts instantly.

"Normally, I'd be happy, but Koshimae is being mean," Kintaro pouted.

Ryoma stiffened now, wondering the hell he should do to stop weird ideas coming to them.

Aoi was seeing how a warfare of thoughts happening in ryoma's head.

True, they can't force it out... but then again... he got another idea to crack him... problem is if it's effective.

"Echizen-kun, what's that...?" He pointed at the side past Kintaro, who both looked back as well.

"Where -oof!"

A temporary moment of distraction, Aoi tackled him to the ground. His tall frame was a big of a wall for Echizen to cross over. Shock was all he had in his eyes but a horrified looks was when he felt fingers dig into his sides.

"What are you -hngh!"

Clapping a hand to his mouth, he knew exactly what Aoi was doing, and he didn't like it one bit. They wouldn't dare... no, they would, in fact! They had devilish grins that sent shivers down his spine.

"Of course, I forgot the most obvious method of all..." Aoi grinned even wider still trying to force out laughs from a restraining Echizen.

"Ehh, so someone like Echizen can be ticklish?" Horio said with amusement.

The latter on the ground curled to the side, squeaking out sounds he regretted letting out, "S-stop that!"

"He looks surpsingly cute," Dan said with bewilderment. The trio agreed with giggles.

Kintaro sneered and wiggled his fingers before descending with Aoi, "koshimaee~ wants some more? Here ya go!" With that, he grabbed his knees, which was accidental, yet it made Ryoma kick violently, narrowly missing his jaw, "Gah! Wahait... stohop it!"

That was a bad spot. Echizen panicked, he could handle anywhere but there! And there!

Shit! He swore, this was all messed up, he's suddenly cracking.

"Do I hear giggles from the stoic Echizen-kun?" Aoi's sunshine smile glistened over him, how Ryoma wished to step on his face.

"Nohoho yohou dihihid not hehehear ahahahanythihihing! Leheheave mehehe behehehe!" Ryoma curled back now trying to escape the touches, but then again, it's two against one. Hence, except in tennis, he can't win against that unfair combination.

"Yes, Aoi-kun, Echizen-kun's adorably giggling! I want to join too, desu!" Dan stepped in as well to grab one of his arms and help tackle his ribs while Aoi went to his slender waist.

It's too much. He can't believe they'd resort to something stupid... why do they even care? Questions aroused his mind, and soon, his face had an adorable flush of embarrassment.

"Ne, ne..." Dan said, coming over to his head now, "Have you heard that laughter is the best medicine, Ryoma?"

"Ehehehenough yohohou guhuhuys! Ihihihi mehehehean ihihit!"

"No, no... mada mada dane? Right Echizen kun?" Aoi teased him with his own catchphrase, and that made him lower his head back in helpless titters.

It was rather rare to hear him laugh genuinely. Everyone was more dazed than determined. His laugh was contagious, soft, and mellow... almost sweet like a child's.

"To think an uncute guy like koshimaee can be mega cute!" Kintaro was vigorously using methods like scribbling under the calf muscles which nobody knew that were sensitive.

"Shiraishi said sportsmen have sensitive knees, calf muscles, and ankles... now I know he's telling the truth"

"Ihihihi ahahaham nohohot! Oohohoi! Stohohop ihihit!"

Dan couldn't help shower gentle tickles over his neck, and Aoi was more focused on getting his ribs.

"Wait... you're defensive here..." Aoi said, now aiming for the spot below his armpits. It was the last straw. His giggles raised an octave and much louder. "OHOHOK Cuhuhuhut it out nohohohow! IHIHIHI SWEHEHEHEAR ihihit!"

"Ken-chan found the gold mine yippiii!" Kintaro giggled now, pinning his failing ankles down.

"Plehehehaseee!" Ryoma widened his eyes when he heard himself begging and then shuts his words.

This made everyone look at each other with surprise but then contorted to menacing grins. Kintaro taunted now. "Oyaa? Koshimae begging...? That's pretty intense... he's so weak to such a little thing?"

"OHOHO SHUHUT UP! IHIHIHI CAHAHANT STAHAHAND YOU! IHIHIHI DIHID IT BY AHAHAHCCIDENT!"

Rolling his eyes, Aoi presses harder to the death spot "Of course, not to injure your pride, Ryoma... but we all know you begged just now... want to do it again?"

"YEHEHEAH NOHOHOT IHIHIN A MIHIHILLION YEAAARS! GAHAHAHA!" He turned away now trying to pushing away the annoying nimble fingers tormenting his worst spot.

"You heard him. Let's defeat him from a one-sided tickle fight... ne?"

Ryoma Echizen was at their mercy.

Meanwhile, from a distance, the senpais had arrived. The seigaku, rokkaku, and shitenhoji and even Jin Akutsu accompanied them for Dan's sake. All these schools arrived to see their freshmen's little hangout. Surpsingly, what they heard was lovely laughter on the far distance by the courts.

"Are they really not training?" Shiraishi sighed in sudden confusion, "honestly I thought Echizen would be more responsible over them"

Fuji said warmly. "Even i thought so to... well he's not the type to care..."

"I wonder who's laughing... It's certainly not Kin-chan,"

Akutsu scoffed coldly. "Not even Taichi..."

"Aoi's got a much louder one that's annoying," Saeki said with a smile..

"Well, it could be seigaku definitely..." Chitose said with fondness.

The said-school exchanges startled looks, Inui folded his arms "Based on the tone, I think it's not Kachiro though he fits close to that sound... so that means... its Echizen"

"Uso! (No way), i wanna see Ochibi (cutie) right now!" Eji was the first one to run through the path and into the courts to see for himself. He had a bright grin when Oishi followed.

Of course, the senpais saw it with their own eyes. Startled and in love with the sweet sounds. Aoi was definitely breaking him along with Dan and Kintaro ... those merciless devils.

"To think he can have such a side, interesting... even i want to break him like that..." Fuji's sadism triggered as he was giving an aura that made Shiraishi sigh in familairty."Seigaku, save that freshman from this man"

Fuji smiled with sweetness. "Whatever do you mean dear Saeki?"

They approached the freshmen, and Aoi was the first to stop, and then Dan.... they all shyly giggled at the funny display. Kintaro was having a blast that he failed to notice anyone and still didnt let poor Ryoma free. Nobody stopped the red head while he tried to push him off to stop it.

Aoi stuck his tongue in appology for the silliness, "Ahhh, senpai! Sorry, we were practising, but... Echizen was being a stick in the mud... so we gotta lighten him up, " he pointed out with a fond smile."So we thought to make him laugh..."

"Bahahastard! Ahahaha! CUhuhuUHUHUT IHIHIHIT OHOHOUT!"He tried to threaten Aoi but failed when Kintaro was strong and persistent to get him even more, as he scavenged for the sweet spot that Aoi found. He found it at last.

Momoshiro suddenly seemed thrilled as he cracked his knuckles, "How about you let the senpais deal him now, Toyama..."

Kintaro looked up now, a well-deserved break from Ryoma's prior torment. He grinned now, stopping for real, "Ehh? OK then, he got a bad spot under his arms but above the top ribs... get him there... its cute when he snorts!"

"IHI dohoho nohohot -!"

Ryoma sensed the worst conclusion being drawn immediately as he interrupted himself, trying to escape. He was slowly turning to his stomach.

"Running away? I don't think so! Momo, get him right there!" Eji pounced first by grabbing his waist, and soon new resumed laughter was heard, Dan exchanged glances with the other freshmen as the Seigaku senpai handle their freshmen with care and tickles.

It was a beautiful evening that's being folded. Dan was glad he set up this hangout with the freshmen.
