Rickon has a bad night. And a bad flight. And a bad drive. And his car breaks down.

Over the years the Starks slowly find their way back to Winterfell. After Robb is the last to leave and first to return, more of his siblings filter back into their childhood home.

So much has changed, and yet so much is still the same. Between surviving their parents and adulthood, and their complicated romantic entanglements, the Starks find that their paths are easiest when they're together.

omg this one is a oneshot from early 2021 i believe. it’s a rickon x lyanna one i was supposed to be working on for @yanak324’s birthday 2 years ago ahhahaha.

the concept is that it’s far in the future in a canon divergent setting where rickon and lyanna had a fling when they were kids (being each other’s first time)

years down the line lyanna is widowed and rickon visits bear island and they rekindle their old friendship turned to romance!

here’s a little snippet from it, i really need to finish it at some point because it’s basically all rounded with some missing transitions:

“I supposed we would be crossing paths sooner or later.”

The trees caressed her words as she spoke, and the night suddenly belonged to her.

She stood taller than he remembered, “I had hoped we would,” he answered, and gave the lake a final glance before turning his attentions to her. Last he’d seen her she had looked smaller, sleeping in the sombre darkness of Winterfell’s dawn.

He could easily make out the way her eyes rolled at his words. The night was cold, and he watched the way she tightened the crossed arms over her chest.

It had been a few odd years since he last set eyes on her and her long black braid. Even then as the breeze softly pulled at the strands that framed her face, he couldn’t help but smile.

Her laugh felt tight and uneasy, as did her gaze when it dropped to the ground at their feet.

Rickon didn’t mind the silence that penetrated the cold wind around them, nipping at them like an irritated snowshrike. He took a few steps towards her, conscious of the time between them; it was brisk and steadfast all in the same.

He swallowed when he reached her, near enough to see the way the cold flushed her cheeks; like the cherry blossoms he remembered seeing on his visit to Silverhill. Her breaths came out visibly and they seemed to be just as tempted as his own.

“I beg your pardon my lady?” Wyman’s words cut like ice as his gaze hardened on her. 

Old Gods save her, Lyanna felt her resolve disappear. She had, had enough listening to men speak just to hear their own voices.  I am the Lady of Bear Island, Lyanna reminded herself. A Lady could fight just as well without swords, for her words were just as sharp. “I’ll remind you Lord Manderly, House Mormont has kept faith with House Stark for a thousand years.”

Thank you for continuing to update the Art of War! I’ve needed something not so heavy lately, and this story fits the bill. I’m usually very Gendrya focused, but I love the side characters of Rickon and Shirey in this story!

They all grieve, grief is what brought them together, three souls in mourning for their loved ones. Rickon grieves for his family, for his father, mother and a brother, for Shireen, love of his life, who sat on the Iron Throne only to be killed, as many else before and after her did. Lyanna grieves her sister, grieves for her king. Tommen grieves for his family as well, for his brother, father, uncles, his cousin and all those he knew who died and all those he didn't.

The comfort they give each other, no one else could give them, three children unknowingly playing who lost while playing the game of thrones.

Lyanna, strong and stubborn with a kind soul, a true she-bear, makes a lovely line between Tommen, sweet and kind as no lion before him and Rickon, wild and temperamental as a wolf.

Limbs tangled, heat from the fire long forgotten, three lost found in each other, warmth found in their bodies, from pleasure as they touch each other, lost in it, lost in each other, safe and sound in their embraces, in Lyanna's laughter, Tommen's soft words and Rickon's bites on their bodies.

A story where Robb rules The North almost twenty years after his father Ned Stark returns from King's Landing in 298 AC. As Warden of The North and Lord of Winterfell, Robb Stark must make tough choices in order to maintain stability of their house. Those choices include forging an alliance with house Mormont through marriage.

He was in the middle of texting the squid prince for his frat party recommendations, cutting down the girls side of his floor, only to run straight into another resident. A female resident. One who was wrapped up just in a towel and had a long braid of dark hair draped over her shoulder. He already had an easy line ready to offer up with the confident grin that had probably gotten him in his fair share of trouble over the years. Then he saw the familiar dark eyes that had almost always been glaring at him.

“Lyanna?”

It had been four years since he’d last seen Lyanna Mormont but there wasn’t a chance in hell that he’d forget that glare. To be fair, he’d deserved it the last time he’d seen her. He’d been fourteen and stupid and her family had been going through a lot of shit. But it seemed that she was happy to keep it going despite the time that had passed.

“Uh, hey, Lya. Been a while. How’ve you been? You look…” He trailed off before he could finish his thought because her glare had already narrowed on him even more and he was fairly certain he could call her a goddess and she’d still try to hit him. But she did look good. Fuck, did she look good, especially standing there in just a towel. He could feel most of his blood rushing to one particular spot and he had to scramble to keep his mind from going too far down that road. “So you’re going here too? That’s -“

She didn’t let him finish, her eyes rolling before fixing him with one last glare. “Oh fuck off, Stark,” she grumbled, clutching her towel a little tighter and shoving past him.

Davos stilled at that, watching Lyanna as skepticism turned her lips into a frown, “And if you win?” She wondered. 

Rickon shrugged, “If I win, you’ll warm my bed tonight.” He replied nonchalantly, intrigued by her enough to entertain the possibility. Her frown slipped into a downright glare as Davos floundered for words. She wants to slit my throat, he mused grinning at her reaction. 

“If I win you’ll kill the Boltons, take back Winterfell, and you’ll supply Bear Island with enough fighting men and ships to protect us until winter's end.” She finally agreed, surprising everyone as she stood.
