idk what switch flipped in my brain on my birthday but i've averaged 3.1k words per day for the past week

i haven't written this much, or this easily, in 4 years

Week 2 of Phase 1 of Operation: Something New complete! Surprisingly I find myself looking forward to doing this almost every day.

Went to a coffee shop this morning to give the walk a goal and actually got some writing done on the short story. I think alternating the projects is helping with motivation; I've written on multiple successive days this week, which is not normal for me! Trying to keep the writing goals small and specific. Today it was the start of a scene at a concert, with Josiah trying to regale Marela with an info dump about the (highly revised) history of the symphony they're about to hear. Which was fun. I like relating blatantly false historical facts.

Now on to shower and lunch. Got some recording to do for a friend and then laundry, but otherwise not much else? Sort of productivity? What is this?

had such lovely night last night, my friend I haven't seen in ages came to stay! something about 2 twenty-somethings getting the giggles while top-and-tailing is so endearing to me! she's an early bird so I'm on my way back from taking her to the station and I'm very tired but I have a greggs sausage roll and I'm gonna put my pyjamas back on and spend the day reading and writing I think!! I hope!!

isn’t foxglove so cool? isn’t it such a neat little plant? isn’t it the very best toxic little meow meow?

my favourite part of it is how it could be used as a natural toxin that just stops the heart. how fascinating! and did I mention that if used on someone taking heart medication, chances are the high level of digitalis can just be passed off as a dose of their meds? isn’t that amazing? this is why foxglove has been known as a wonderful little killer since at least the 14th century.

also the flowers of the plant are stunning. 10/10, evokes feelings of magical wonder and curiosity of whether fairies could fit in the little flower cups. what a cute little bloom. truly a little slice of beauty in this world.
