It took the Ring two seconds to make both Isildur and Gollum claim it as their own.
It didn’t take much longer for it to make Bilbo do the same, as he kept it as the key “trick up his sleeve” during the Quest for Erebor and never considered harming it.
But in 17 full years and 6 months, it couldn’t make Frodo claim it. It took being inside Mt. Doom, the place where its power was absolute and drowned out all othere, to get Frodo to claim it.
Inside Mt. Doom, no bearer can resist the Ring. They will inevitably claim it there. But literally ALL of the other Ring-bearers who ever claimed it did so outside of Mt. Doom.
The Ring never needed to apply its utmost, Cracks-of-Doom-level pressure to make any previous Ring-bearer claim it. Frodo was the only one who resisted it so long and so well that it had to force itself upon him and break him just to get him to regard it as his own.
Frodo Baggins is the strongest mortal in the Third Age of Middle-Earth and no, I am not accepting questions at this time.
(Remember our beloved Samwise Gamgee never claimed the Ring, and didn’t have it long enough for it to really sink its teeth into him as deeply as it did into everyone else. I’m talking about those who actually claimed the Ring at some point in their lives.)

i think whenever Marika was on the edge of spiraling, only Messmer knew how to pull her back.
(my art is always based on this theory)

Frodo: Sam hates Gollum, but that is what I shall become once I have lost myself to the ring... he’ll despise me...
Sam if Frodo did turn into a Gollum: That’s a very nice fish you caught with your bare hands, Mr. Frodo, and its very smart of you to eat it raw, saves us the trouble of starting a fire. I knitted you a sweater in case you get cold running around in that loincloth of yours. Is the sun hurting your eyes? I’ll kill it if it’s bothering you. I’ll kill the sun

“Even darkness must pass.”
I am physically incapable of not making Frodo and Sam art
Also I couldn’t decide if I liked it more with the border or without, you can tell me what you think ⬇️

It is told that after the flight of Melkor the Valar sat long unmoved upon their thrones in the Ring of Doom; but they were not idle, as Fëanor declared in the folly of his heart.

It's not about them kissing...
It's about them wanting to kiss.
It's about them having this powerful thirst for the other that could never be satisfied.
It's about seeing their deepest fears and desires reflected in each other's eyes and having to face them.
It's about the possibility of falling into temptation and being redeemed.
It's about them wanting to devour each other but be condemned to starve.
It's about the possibility of a future together that will never come to pass.
It's not about them getting together.
It's about the pain of knowing they never will.

Melina and Messmer were both plagued by visions of fire. What if instead of seeing visions of their own future, each saw the other's fate instead?
Tumblr media
Messmer's absolute brutality towards the Fire Giants, forshadowing the tactics he would later use against the hornsent, all because he saw visions of his little sister burning at the Giant's Forge. Marika and Messmer reaching the final peak and realizing that the Flame of Ruin cannot be extinguished.
Melina doing everything she can to fix what was broken, guiding a tarnished nobody on the faint hope that they might be able to set the Lands to rights, willing to sacrifice herself even if it's only to preserve a frail shadow of the Age of Fracture... Because she knows that for a new god to arise, Messmer must burn.

It's kinda funny how Silmarillion fans characterize Maeglin as this poor misunderstood goth kid who was ostracized by Gondolin, when Tolkien goes out of his way to describe how Maeglin was beloved of both his family and the people of Gondolin and that he rose high in honor and acclaim, but Idril was the only one who mistrusted him and that was because he was in creepy obsessive incesty love with her.
Like, it's a pretty straightforward case of "this guy has so much good stuff and has so much going for him but was corrupted by greed for the one thing he couldn't have". It's the same thing that ruined Feanor and his sons and so many others.
I'm not saying that what was done to him by Morgoth wasn't a tragedy, but he was also the architect of his own destruction.

Have said it before and will say it again: If Frodo had actually been able to throw the Ring into the Fire by himself, that would’ve meant he was some kind of Superman. The point of Frodo is he’s NOT Superman. He’s a regular ordinary guy who volunteers to do the impossible.

March 24th - Frodo and Sam reach the foot of Mount Doom
The night seemed endless.... Sam began to wonder if a second darkness had begun and no day would ever reappear. At last he groped for Frodo's hand. It was cold and trembling. His master was shivering.
