when rereading rinji's first appearance in chapter 13, i was really struck by the way he talked about chika's childhood and the way no one believed her about being targeted by trion soldiers.

"She says... when they first started coming after her, the Border base wasn't built yet. Nobody knew about Neighbors. So when she asked for help, nobody took her seriously. And then... there was one friend who did."

he very explicitly excises his own memories of that time from the story he tells osamu. so we Don't know about what rinji did at the time, how he felt about it, any of that. and in chika's firsthand account of the time from chapter 179, she Also doesn't mention Rinji specifically.

"My mom, my dad, and my classmates... none of them believed me. None of them except one friend."

although when she tells yuma about her situation she says she told both of them her secret. so thats there at least

to me, the most interesting read on the situation is that he didn't believe her either at first. maybe he changed his mind after aoba disappeared, or maybe in the wake of the first large-scale invasion and Border’s appearance, when ‘monsters who kidnapped my sister’s friend’ became a story with a lot more people who could tell it. either way, it’s clear that he suggested that chika get help from border, and she refused. it’s also clear that he doesn’t think much of their parents. 

“We’re the only ones who can look after her.”

“We might die or get captured. Your parents would never forgive me if that happened.” “But that goes for you too...” “It’s not the same.”

(admittedly, he’s talking to a fourteen year old kid: in a very real way it isn’t the same. but that’s kind of belied by telling that same fourteen year old kid that he and rinji are the only ones who can look after chika, huh!)

i just think it would be really Something if, just as 15-16 yr old rinji realized his baby sister had been telling the truth about the monsters out to get her the whole time, chika was resolving not to let anyone know that very same thing.

vital part of my rinji charecterization is that he and osamu gave each other equal amounts of neuroses. like rinji might tell him to go off and die to protect his little sister but osamu will also drag anyone in his immediate vicinity into 5958898547985 different crises involving Someone Doing Something That Osamu Thinks Is Not Strictly Ethical That Must Be Stopped per week and then just completely forget the whole thing. neither of them are in contact with reality on more than a strictly perfunctory basis and if you let them hang out together long enough it shows. freak4freak friendship.

so this is something we've been thinking about for our chika fanfiction--clearly chika and mikumo kasumi know each other pretty well. she wants her son to get together with this girl! I've been assuming that chika probably hangs out at the mikumo house pretty regularly.

okay, what about rinji? did rinji have any kind of relationship with kasumi? did they understand each other on a level no-one else could bc they both prefer to communicate through intense silences and unspoken vibes?? it's so good to imagine them engaging in weirdo-to-weirdo communication with their eyeballs over the dinner table while chika and osamu talk about the school assembly.

rinji: don't be crazy. we might die or get captured. your parents would never forgive me if something happened to you. osamu: but that goes for you too... rinji: it's not the same.

kasumi and her husband sir mikumo not-appearing-in-this-manga chose to move to mikado AFTER the invasion. could not fucking say why. but it does mean she met the amatori family after aoba's disappearance and after it turned out chika was totally not lying about the aliens. I'm absolutely desperate to know more about her history with chika and rinji's parents lol. does she think they should be beaten with sticks. does she want osamu to marry chika so chika can be officially in HER family. these are questions that may never be answered, but nevertheless I must obsess over them...

The thing Chika is holding is her Border Trigger. It looks small, so it might not be recognizable.😅

This might look sad, overall, but it’s actually supposed to be hopeful, haha! 😆Because, with that Trigger, Chika has an actual chance to find Rinji and Aoba. And not just “a chance”, but the best possible chance in the entire Border agency.

World Trigger Theory Time

The Importance of the First Large Scale Invasion

In the beginning of the story the first large scale invasion depicted as only as the reason of border made public, but as the info revealed in chapter 200 and 201 that doesn't seem the case at all.

From that revelation alone we can surmise that the event is much more grand and have far-reaching effects on the world and main story of world trigger.

The reason why that is:

1. From the reveal that we can imply that the reason earth/meeden got attacked because border now protecting/host god trigger that royalty that alistera brought escaping from their fallen nation-- more question pop up because of this, that means there one nation that attack alistera and meeden simultaneously or meeden is just collateral damage for hunting the alistera royalty

2. The event is possibly the reason that soichi mogami (jin's mentor) became black trigger to hold off the nation that invading at that time

3. This pure theory without even something connecting to it,i also think the first large scale invasion is the precursor for rinji-hatohara debacle and rinji distrust with border connected to the event and the 10 people that die from old border

So basically what i'm saying is the the first large scale invasion is really important more than it seems and i think there's gonna be flashback arc down the line from jin perpective

World trigger theories

Since WT is back and we will have more chapters of WT, I'd like to share theories I have in my head. Enjoy!

Beware of spoilers!

1. Chika will shoot somebody in the current match tamakoma is in and it's (probably) someone from kageura squad. As we know tamakoma 2nd needs to get more score than kageura squad in this match so they will have more probability to be chosen for the expedition. But from the last foreshadowing by osamu uneasiness and jin's advice for osamu, there might be a chance for tamakoma to mess up in this match. We could see from chapter 168, osamu already took quite a considerable damage from the start. This might be a good chance for chika's development, she might be willing to shoot for protecting osamu.

2. Replica is a trion soldier with human memories implanted in him. Eventhough Replica is known as a tropoi autonomous trion soldier, doesn't it strange that it has a will by itself? For example, it said to osamu, it intended to find a way for yuma to prolong his life. And it also want osamu to give yuma a life purpose. Some how it also could understand yuma's feeling. For example, in yuma's flashback when he couldn't sleep and said he wish the enemy would come sooner, Replica asked yuma to review the battle just like how yugo done it before with him. It's as if, Replica was trying to cheer him up like a guardian should be. Eventhough it's claimed to be autonomous, how does it even work? What if, just like enedora, Replica also a trion soldier which has a memories of a real person implanted in him. (It might be someone close to yuma or yugo, like... yuma's mother?)

3. Yuma's might never get his real body healed instead border will find a way to prolong his life. Yuma lost half of his limbs already and the wounds are not a kind that could be easily healed unless there are any cheat ways like how gon from hxh grow his hand back with the power of game which we will pobably never see in WT, can't see any possibilities for his real body to survive. But he might find a way to keep it works a little bit longer. So he might need to live in his trion body until the end.

4. Jin will not die and become a BT instead aftokraktor will try to make him one of its soldier. Yes, his side effect so convinient but I don't think ashihara-sensei will kill him off just like that. Come on.. jin has the ultimate skill known as 'MC shield' XD since he is one of the MC, the most likely to get free pass from the author. But when they get to afto in the expedition arc, if by any chance afto side finds out about his SE, they might try to kidnap him and make him their soldier though.

5. Tamakoma 2nd and ninomiya squad will be chosen for the expedition. Tamakoma 2nd and ninomiya squad has a mutual purpose to find amatori rinji and hatohara mirai, so I'm quite sure somehow they will be chosen. If the ship can take one more squad, i would say kageura squad will be chosen with them so yuzuru also can fulfilled his own purpose.

There are quite lots of 'probably' I use above. But since this is just theories for fun, let's just take this with a grain of salt XD can't wait to see how many of these wild theories will come true..

so anyways. i kind of have this very specific idea of what osamu and rinji were like which is World's Worst Manzai Comedy Duo. one of them starts doing a bit and it just goes on and on and on. half their conversations are about books that they read that no one else has read because why would they. they memorized the wikipedia list of latin phrases and now they quote them constantly. they absolutely will pull an "officer, I have never seen this man in my life" if given the slightest oppertunity. rinji should imo be way taller than the rest of the cast (it's for the symbolism, because he's the person casting the shadow on the wall of Plato's cave that the whole narrative takes place in, if i may mix my metaphors a little bit) so sometimes he uses osamu as a tray table. they reguarly roleplay a bad divorce but it's kayfabe and rinji is aroace. they invented a varient of Catan that's about the native inhabitants of Catan repelling the attempt at violent colonization that the Settlers Of Catan are perpetuating. they have rules for a game of Battleship that includes tax law (real) and international treaties (also real). i have ten different wips about all of this and i am not even kidding. they are FREAKS and WEIRDOS but they can also just. turn it off. chika is in on it and they bribe her to not tell people anything about them until they can reveal it with absolutely perfect dramatic timing.

Question: do you think Rinji Amatori is adopted? Because he looks nothing like Chika; not hair, eye colour, nor eye type.

I honestly have no idea what to think about Rinji because, as I’ve said before, he’s probably the fishiest character in the entire series. I’ve tossed around several theories, some including the possibility of him being a Neighbor, but right now I don’t know what the deal is with him. I’m definitely not convinced at all that he and Chika are related by blood, that’s for sure. That doesn’t mean I don’t think he cares for her, but… like I said, something’s fishy about him.
