VARCHIE APPRECIATION WEEK

August 14th - 20th — The time has come. Riverdale is coming to an end. We've had our joys and complaints, but there is one thing that has been consistent; our love for Varchie. Join us in order to celebrate them an entire week leading up to the series finale.

Day 1 - favorite quote: any quote that you can’t seem to forget. from any season.

Day 2 - favorite arc or storyline: boy have they been through some crazy adventures. what has been your favorite arc/storyline for them?

Day 3 - favorite kiss: we're definitely not lacking when it comes to such content. will you be able to choose your favorite?

Day 4 - teenage or adult varchie: these two have been through a lot as teenagers and adults, but what version did you prefer?

Day 5 - favorite scene: eenie meenie miney moe. what is your ultimate favorite scene for these two?

Day 6 - 50's teenage varchie: just like archie, we were also hit by a thunderbolt when it came to these two in the 50's

"I never pegged you as a person who would want to go to a dance, Y/N. I thought you'd want to do something else on Halloween night." Jughead sat on your bed and watched as you put the finishing touches to your outfit.

"Oh yeah? And what else would I want to be doing, eh?" You turned round and lifted an eyebrow questioningly. Jughead got up off the bed and walked over to you, placing his hands on your hips. "Maybe spending it with me? Just the two of us, like we always do." Slowly, he leaned down and attached his lips to yours in a slow, sweet kiss in an attempt to sway your decision.

You could feel yourself falling deeper and deeper into the kiss and it took all your strength to pull away. "Nice try, Jug, but we're going to this dance." He groaned and slumped back down on the bed until an idea struck him.

"How about we make a deal? If I go to this dance, you have to watch horror movies." You stood straight up and turned round, eyes widened. "C'mon, Jug, that's not fair. You know how much I hate horror movies." "Yeah, and you know how much I hate school dances. It's a lose, lose situation."

You whined in protest but you knew he was right. If you wanted him to go to the dance with you, then you must watch horror movies with him. "Fine." He smiled wickedly at you. "Amazing. Horror marathon at my place later, then, and you're bringing the candy."

He kissed your cheek as you looked at him in a very unamused way before walking out of the door, very smugly.

Cackling at the realization that Cheryl asking, "Are you scared, Jason?" is the first line of dialogue spoken in Riverdale, ever. Jason shakes his head, but he should be. Immediately after that he is killed (his dad shoots him), buried in a watery grave, discovered, buried in soil, hallucinated by Jughead AND Cheryl, dug up, mummified, hauled around by Cheryl, partially eaten by a rat, buried again, dug up again, worshipped by his mother as a god, cremated, is in heaven the whole time, resurrected, then killed a second time (Cheryl sets him on fire).

Karma's a Bitch

The idiom "Karma's a bitch" is of unknown origin. Karma is a concept originating from Dharmic religions that deals with cause and consequence. In simplified terms, it postulates that a person's actions and intent influence their future. Cause and consequence. It's often referred to as the principle of karma. Good actions and intent create a brighter future (good karma), whereas bad actions and intent bring about a worse future (bad karma).

A bitch has several meanings. For the purposes of this prompt we'll focus on two. It could be an informal way to refer to a female dog. As slang, it can also reference something unpleasant (for example, humidity in summer) and not necessarily a person.

Karma's a bitch is most often used regarding how an individual's actions will come back and bite them (negative actions or intent garnering negative consequences). Rarely it can be used in a more positive light. Dogs are notoriously loyal creatures. If one helps a dog, it's likely the dog will take a shine to them. As such, if someone does good deeds, their consequences will be positive as well.

The phrase gained notoriety for becoming a lip-sync trend in 2018. People participating would lip-sync to a voice clip of the character Veronica from the show Riverdale saying "Karma's a bitch" preceding a slideshow of pictures demonstrating some sort of physical transformation or "glow-up" accompanied by the song Gucci-Gucci by artist Kreayshawn.

This prompt deals with consequences. Good or bad, they lead, or are at least intrisically related to, a death. The principle of karma is inescapable for the characters of stories written with this prompt; with characters' past actions forging their demise. Or alternatively, something can go horrifically wrong during a lip-sync social media trend. Maybe even as a consequence of some past dastardly action.

You were sitting at a table in Pops with Archie, Jughead and Betty whilst Veronica ordered.

"This is my favourite time of year. The leaves are falling from the trees, the air is getting colder and the nights are getting cosier. What could be better than that?"

"Pumpkin spice latte, anyone?" You all jumped out of your skin when Veronica suddenly appeared at the table. "Jesus, Ronnie, seriously. Give us some warning next time, would ya?" Jughead held onto his chest as Archie chuckled from beside you.

"Never mind. This is my favourite thing to come out of this season. Thanks babe." You kissed Veronica on the cheek as she slid in the seat beside you, passing piping hot cups all round.

You took a sip of your latte and instantly melted into the seat. "This. Is. Just. Amazing." Sighs of contentment followed as everyone took sips of their lattes.

You smiled as you watched your girlfriend and best friends laugh and chat with each other. This is the way that you always wanted to spend the early autumn, surrounded by the people who are most special and closest to you. It made the season so much more special to you.
