🌹🌹🌹
for every "🌹" received in my inbox i'll post one random sentence of a random WIP i'm currently writing
Thank you! Three sentences for you for three roses 😘
No one takes the idea of universe hopping seriously above peewee hockey. Parallel universes are the domain of bored NHLers shooting the shit. You get drunk with your bros and you say, okay, okay, maybe Connor Mc.David is such a weirdo because he got zapped here from robotland.

Well, when you say "according to their programming", do you mean they have a preprogrammed answer to literally every situation they encounter? Because answers that necessitate "Robotland is a static four-dimensional object" kind of turn Robotland into a bizarre art piece without obvious relevance to reality.
My appreciation for democracy as a system of government is contingent on it being some degree of decisionmaking tool, even if that decision boils down to "show of hands, do we bloodlessly depose person-in-charge". So if Robotland is a democracy in some sort of useful way - like "in the circumstance that Robotland faces something beyond general expectations and therefore settled programming, the voting system allows maximum exploitation of this small window for new thoughts to benefit Robotland", for example - then yeah, I'd probably call it a democracy. Otherwise, I'd say they're more like a weird ecosystem.
Robotland: A Painfully Unsubtle Allegory
(I’d first like to apologize in advance for how blatant and unsubtle the following thought experiment is; hopefully a less anvilicious metaphor will be forthcoming.)
Imagine, for a moment, Robotland: a society made up entirely of robots.
Robots, it turns out, are very similar to regular people. Uncannily similar, even. Robots have jobs – dentists, plumbers, reporters, doctors, etc. Robots play sports and root for sports teams. Robots produce works of art both sublime and absurd, from the most pretentious of postmodernist poetry to the most moronic of daytime television. Robots have families, and engage in all the love and hate and drama that comes with interpersonal relationships.
And, most importantly for the purposes of this post, Robots vote. Robotland, you see, is a democracy.
In fact, if you didn’t already know that the inhabitants of Robotland weren’t ordinary people, it might take you a while to suss out this particular fact. You could do it, certainly, but you’d have to be paying attention. It is conceivable that a Robot family that went off to live among humans could do so for quite some time before their neighbors caught on, provided that they went to a community with a modicum of respect for basic privacy.
Despite all this, the Robots have a terrible secret: they aren’t actually sentient, and they don’t actually think. They can not make decisions of their own; they are forced to obey their programming at all times, in all circumstances. In short, they have no free will, and are the sort of entities that John Searle consideres incapable of understanding Chinese.
The question that I’m writing this essay to pose is as follows: should Robotland count as “real” democracy, or is it merely a sham; a Potemkin village that should not be confused with the genuine article.
Before we try to answer this question, let’s provide more details on how the distinctly robotic side of how Robotland actually works.
When two Robots love each other very much (at least to the extent that preprogrammed "love" counts as real love), they get married and decide that they want to have children. (As a tangent, some Robots have “male” exteriors and others have “female” exteriors but this doesn’t matter anymore, as Robotland has recently legalized gay marriage.) When this decision is made, the two Robots go down into their basement, and begin assembling new robots from spare parts. These “child” Robots are smaller and less complex than their fully assembled counterparts, but are periodically modified by their parents over the course of many years until they become “adults”.
More importantly for our purposes, however, is that that the parent Robots pass on their programming to their offspring. This process, however, is imperfect, and occasionally a bit or two gets flipped in the transmission, resulting in bugs. On other occasions, fully assembled and programmed Robots can be hacked by other Robots, or infected with viruses that replace part or all of their programming.
Programming, remember, controls every action that a Robot takes, from when to stand up to who to marry. How a Robot votes is similarly controlled by their programming. It should come as no surprise, then, that Robots have political parties; Aristotle labeled humans as “political animals”, and this is one of the respects in which Robots are similar to humans. And given what we know of how Robot programming works, we should be equally unsurprised to find that Robot political parties are engaged in an escalating, Red Queen-esque arms race to see who can most effectively hack each others voting base without getting their own voting base hacked.
With every election cycle, some fraction of Robots will switch parties due to either hacking or general malfunction (some even form new political parties when particularly severe malfunctions force their programming to become incompatible with the party line), but as long as the rate of defection is less than the birth (assembly?) rate, there are always plenty of newly assembled Robots to replace the defectors, and the parties continue to expand. Ultimately, the parties that are able to grow more quickly than their rivals dominate the political landscape.
My question remains: should Robotland count as a democracy? And what does the answer to this question say about real life democracies?

Elami “The world’s first educational electronic friends.” (1983) by Robotland Inc., Florida. The Elami come in three different sizes, the small 12″ Elami Jr., a medium 18″ version, and a large 36″ tall robot. The entry-level Elami Jr. and the medium-sized Elami include a number of built-in demo programs and can be programmed via their keypad. They have a distinctive two-color LCD face with four expressions:- happy, angry, suprised, and sleepy. An 8 bit microcomputer controls the rotating head, two mechanically actuated arms & grippers, a speech synthesiser, and the two-speed mobile base. When an Elami detects an object with its infrared or bumper sensors, it moves back, turns left, then continues on with its program. The top of the range 36” Elami includes a fully functional computer with keyboard and a disk drive, and adds ultrasonic rangefinders. With their expertise in ultrasonic navigation and guidance, Branch & Associates of Australia were engaged in prototype development for the Elami.

Alles is nieuw. En ik, ik sterf elke dag een beetje meer.

Can't describe how much I hate this hot take.
Listen other than the fact Mirror Universe Sulu is a creepy fuck to Uhura, there is nothing to indicate Sulu's sexuality.
Like Harry Mudd bringing hot drugged up girls on the ship? All Sulu does is pat a dazed man on the back and says "Yeah, they are beautiful bud calm down"
Alice in robotland adventure? He puts his arm around two girls and that's it? The camera doesn't even focus on it.
Chasing people with swords? Protecting maidens? He is being a cool cowboy.
Had a daughter? Lots of ways to have kids.
"Sulu was straight in canon" bitch where? Spock gets more girls than he does. Literally every single male main gets more girls than he does.
(Although that might be racism)
Just let alternative universe Sulu have a husband, lord knows star trek needs more happy same sex romantic relationships.

Siblings Day
So, yesterday was National Siblings Day. What did my sister and I do? Went out to Target (cuz that's a white girl quality we're ok with) to spend almost all of a $50 gift card I'd gotten from my Aunt & Uncle. I was hoping to save some of that money but Rachael's a bad influence & convinced me to buy a $30 game on top of the two smaller things I'd gotten. I also broke the 3DS rules since my first game should have been Super Smash but we didn't think of that til later. She got me too excited for Kirby Robotland. We also picked up some monster cookie ice cream & chocolate shell which she put in the fridge so we may not ever be able to use it lol. Good day.

For the fic meme: 14 19 21?
14. A fic you didn’t expect to write
Oooh, let me think. Looking back over the fics I published, there’s an interesting mix of ones that were based on ideas I’d been toying with for a while, and fics that were a complete surprise to me. The easiest answer is the Black Panther series or the Hollow Knight fic, I don’t typically play in other fandoms. The transformers radchstuck fic was definitely a surprise.
HM. As far as pure transformers goes... the ones based on comic plot developments, like the pharma fics or the LL25 fic, those weren’t in the plans at all until the moment I started writing, but upd8 content isn’t a surprise in the same way. The starclonus series!! THAT was a surprise. I just wanted to see if I could make it work, because mmm #aesthetic, and I wasn’t expecting to have much room to play outside of making it happen, but I mean, now it’s a series with lots of future plans and everything XD
19. Any new fics to start next year
There are a couple!! I’m finally poking at TFA for the first time since like... my second ever transformers fic? I’m in the middle of some tasty dratchet content now (I only wanted to write porn but then I had to make it believable and now there is setting everywhere), and I’ve got a shockblurr idea I’d really like to make happen (but I know that one will run long).
AND. Bumblebee movie fic. Shatter is amazing and I need more of her, so I guess I’m making that happen XD That one is also going to run a bit long, unless I make gratuitous use of timeskips (I might do that) (I might have to do that). But I’m really excited for all these things! I’ve got many words on the page for dratchet, some words for shatter, and no words at all yet for shockblurr, but I already have too many wips
21. Most memorable comment/review
HM. hmmmmmm.
One person commented that one of my fics was the fic that made them sympathetic to Pharma, which, yesssssssss. There were some amazing comments on the various series I have going, and there were too many awesome ones to just pick out favorites. The LL25 fic comments made me cackle XD
OH. But. There is one I especially remember. Way back in ye olde homestuck days. My Roxy/Horuss epic. And by epic I mean like 26k, which is epic for me, but. What Blank Page Waiting is to me in robotland, that fic was to me in homestuck. I still have so so so much affection for that story, and am still so happy I wrote it, years after the fact. It got plenty of great comments when it was published, but to have someone come around ages later and say they’ve loved it for years and reread it multiple times, that was just. AAAAAAAA ;u; I died when I got the notification for that comment, that story is one of my favorite children, and it makes me so happy that people still like it.
