Where do you recommend reading Hunter? You have me very very intrigued but when I searched it I'm... kind of overwhelmed by all the sites that may or may not have some of the chapters available.
Ahh, that's a very fair question! And the manhwa coming out probably made search results even more confusing. I read it from the translator's site, linked here!

as much as I'm a fan of the idea of Kirk spending all of TOS ardently wooing and/or pining after Spock, I have to admit that I'm also kind of in love with the idea of him being entirely unaware of his affections -- right up until the moment that Spock is gone, seemingly for good. It works very well pre-TMP, when Spock has left for Gol, but it's especially heartrending during TWOK, after the warp core.
Kirk is slumped against the glass, still pressed to where Spock lay on the other side, as close to him as he could get. He looks as though he's trying to melt through its surface, as though if he simply tries hard enough he'll be able to touch Spock once again, warm and alive - but the wall remains there, and Spock's flesh remains cold and unmoving. When McCoy goes to pull him away, to take him somewhere warmer and quieter and far away from the corpse of his dead friend, Kirk doesn't stand, doesn't pull himself away from Spock. Instead, he looks up at McCoy with wide, desperate eyes, face pallid and cheeks damp, and says, "Bones...? How long have I been in love with him?"
McCoy has never heard him sound so broken, so fragile. He pulls him into his arms, then, and he can't quite manage to say anything except oh, Jim..., because how can he possibly explain that it's been true since the very beginning? How can he tell Kirk just how much time he would have had, if he had only been able to see?

I find it so funny that every time they get taken captive kirk is rattling his chains screaming "LET ME OUT" and spock is examining the shackles like "hm. interesting. did you know these are made of a very rare, indestructible metal found underground?"

The whole time I was like 'trust the process' but the process kinda lied to me
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like posting these wips but I usually just forget to take pictures of the process until it's too late...
Btw this is one of my 'cleanest' sketches. Usually they are more chaotic and/or ambiguous

I know not all Jewish people keep Kosher, but the fact that they decided to have Spock eat bacon of all things to show that he's no longer participating in Vulcan vegetarianism is such a baffling choice

Thank you so much for reccing "dropped into a ghost story", I started reading it, blinked, and now it's an hour later and im having emotions about a stuffed animal. 10/10
Ahaha, I'm glad!!!! It really, REALLY is astonishingly compelling! I was uncertain about trying this one, because I'm a massive weenie when it comes to horror and this is a chonky thing (never mind that it's still only part one!), so i was surprised and delighted by how easy it went down! It really is a cool movie, I'm glad i stumbled across it/had the opportunity to rec it to others :D

One of (out of topic???) collab I want in HSR is probably with Star Trek. I know it's western IP and Hoyo rarely doing it, exception with Horizon Zero Dawn x Genshin Impact back in 2021-ish? (no we don't talking with product collab, we talkin in IP collab). Hear me out.
The Nameless main mission is to explore new world and/or visiting world they've been visited before, making connection, establish the 'rail way', and (sometimes) solving conflict. Star Trek basically does that too. Now I haven't watch every Star Trek IPs (I watched 3 AOS movies and half way TOS series, I love James Kirk aight) so apologize for the misinformation, but their main premise is basically the same with The Nameless/Astral Express. The Enterprise and the Astral Express basically the same, they're starship, just different crew. Also, both are operates in fast, boundless ocean of space.
The collab isn't always free or pulling playable character. It could be in the form of light cones, furniture for our room, profile pictures, phone wallpaper, chat theme, etc. Sure there's a premium content which you gotta buy with real money. Like for example, Arknights x R6S 2nd collab. There are free stuff like free character and funiture and premium stuff like UI theme which cost like, idk 25 dollar? I forgot.
So yeah, I would pay for this collab.

for the fic ask! - 🔪 & 🥤(star trek specifically?)
Ooh, a new fandom (for me) ask!
🔪 - what’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
I only have one writing project for ST (if in many parts), and I'm tempted to reply with "looking up the wilder details in the web archive version of the novelization of The Motion Picture by Gene Roddenberry" (doubly a candidate because I blithely ignore most of the films and other shows for TOS-focused ... anything, just about, but I'm happy to grab a few details I do like or find useful for fic purposes).
Relatedly, there are some of the wilder interviews I dug up. Like, the Hephaestion-Alexander comparison, the reference to Nimoy saying Spock couldn't survive Kirk by long, and the whole "we didn't suggest they shared physical love in TOS, just that they shared a deep emotional love that would be sufficient for physical love if that were normalized in their time" are all from one interview.
But, actually, there's this conversation in the femslash AU where S'paak's vegetarianism is mildly relevant, and I was headcanoning that some of the complications around vegetarianism and esp veganism "in nature" for humans—without supplements, fortification etc—aren't actually true for Vulcans. (The ancient Vulcans ate meat for other, characteristically ancient Vulcan, reasons.)
So I ended up researching what important vitamins/minerals/whatever are easiest to get in vegetarian or vegan diets through alternative sources of food alone, and which are most difficult, for this one brief conversation in the fic. Like, there are lots of ways to get protein without eating meat, for instance, and there are some that are possible if a bit more difficult. The biggest obstacle to veganism without the aid of modern science is probably a form of cobalt (specifically cobalamin or vitamin B12), because it's completely unnecessary for plant life but important for humans, and it's been difficult/impossible for humans throughout most of our history to gain cobalamin without eating other animals or byproducts of them.
And then I ended up being like, okay, it's important, but what are the specific problems with B12 deficiency so S'paak can rattle them off. And I looked that up and was like ".......oh, those are not good" but they worked for the scene. Anyway, all of this was just for a brief interaction in which S'paak expressionlessly gloats about Vulcans not requiring cobalt in any form.
🥤- recommend an author or fanfic you love!
Ooh. Going back to my bookmarks, let's see what I remember from before Lent, lol. I know I liked "The Thousandth Man" by Opheliaj. I also read several of CateAdams's TOS fics on AO3 that I enjoyed, especially the multi-chapter ones.

Ahhhh obsessed with your Vulcan biology. I have two thoughts on this very important matter.
First, evolving to have multiple wombs probably means the labor process is different as well. It would be unproductive and possibly dangerous if they all contracted and dilated at the same time, so it makes sense that there would be multiple labors, each triggered by the conclusion of the first. In addition, the various birth canals connected to each womb would likely vary in length (and a longer distance for baby to travel = longer to dilate and more pushing needed to get the baby down there). In other words, a Vulcan delivery may be more like several cycles of labor/birth, with each one lasting longer than the previous. If he’s lucky, maybe the whole thing only takes a week.
Second, I have this image in my head of Spock not really feeling like he’s connecting to the babies. It’s supposed to be easier for him because of the physical connection, but he can’t quite match the enthusiasm of the other two. But. Once he’s quite round and moving is quite difficult and he finds himself resting in a chair more often than not, maybe one day he has his hands on his bare belly as the babies are squirming and he’s trying to get them to settle so he can just get a little sleep (because, as referenced above, he’s going to need as much energy as possible once they’re ready to come out), he accidentally sort of mind melds with them (something something their being part of him but also separate and his fingertips just a thin layer of flesh away makes this possible) and oh. Oh, they are warm and happy and maybe a little cramped but oh so content and he is in love. Finally, he knows how to love these babies because they already love him so instinctually, so innocently, so unconditionally. And if this causes the other two a few minutes of panic coming upon the stoic Vulcan so obviously emotional, well who cares - they are going to be such a wonderful little family.

@deansapplepie “Hey! I was reading it and I wondered when we’re going to have a part 3. I loved it”
I’m glad you liked it! I’m not sure when I’ll be able to post part three due to personal reasons. I’ve had so much on my plate lately and I’ve been I’ll. I’m sorry to disappoint! Hopefully I will be able to soon!

sometimes, things go terribly wrong. not always. but sometimes. and the results always vary, but for the majority of the crew, captain kirk included, to vanish during some sort of generated cosmic storm... it's a little unlikely that this is pure coincidence. just the same way that it's no coincidence that they found a stowaway just hours before the storm happened.
Tumblr media
amidst the chaos of sparking wires, terrified crew members, thin wisps of smoke and steam leaking from battered vents, she can see him now. a grin stretched across his face, eyes bright with glee as he takes in his handiwork. he's not in charge. just a pawn who got upgraded to a knight with his knowledge and skill. but still. an answer is worth all the stars in the sky. and she's certain that he has more than a few to give.
she's just taken a first step in his direction, when spock emerges from the clouds of smoke and plants himself between them.
@prcspcr asked: ❝ this is not you , ❞ / MEME HERE!
" he-- " she stops. this is spock. he knows; of course he knows. it's the logical conclusion, after all. and yet still, the need to find the crew, or at least understand what the hell demanded this kind of technology to be utilized... she glances at the man behind him, who still seems much happier to take it all in, and then releases a tiny, measured exhale. " you have a plan? "
