JJ Sweetheart presents: Cinnamom

Third released single from the debut "Big Things" EP very intentionally set to release on Valentines day to tip my cap to the lovers and yearners out there.

Most of my music and lyrics are based around romance, heartbreak, love, depression and the highs and lows of being a creative mentally ill person. This song was written on a nearly 4 month solo hike through the Arizona desert (Think into the wild but in a dry desert) and when I came home I had it produced by Coleman Trapp, the very talented mind from 300 Records and +1 Records Coast Modern. JJ Sweetheart is the solo project formerly of Howler (Rough trade Records) and France Camp.

JJ Sweetheart is a Lofi, Psychedelic, feral dreampop musician freshly arisen from the ashes of his former projects in the Minneapolis music scene.

Hatched from the creative mind of former France Camp frontman, and previous bassist of Howler (Rough Trade Records), this solo project is a mellowed, explorative, expansion into songwriting. JJ taps into the intimacy of lo fi bedroom tracks similar to early Alex G, while staying true to the pop driven vocal hooks that made his former projects successful. Sun kissed guitar tones reminiscent of 60's psych rock groups like 13th floor elevators draws the listener in and then slaps you with jabs of reverb soaked distortion. The lyrics are heartfelt and romantic, while touching on subjects of self growth, mental health, and that yearning crush feeling of young love. His current recording process is track by track recording everything with the microphone on his Iphone, and running through a free bandlab app. Vocals are recorded either in his car, in the desert, or in a nice open field to avoid noise complaints in his apartment complex. He states that he likes the lofi energy and the challenge that mixing such recordings has. What comes together at the end is a suprisingly well balanced, and cohesive EP with a nice warm fuzz texture and raw vocals that feel personal.

The newest single "Cinnamom" had JJ looking to collaborate with other musicians in the studio. Coleman Trapp of 300 records Coast Modern produced the track, and the vocals were recorded by Chris Heidman of Sukpatch. Together the three put out a very standout track on his debut EP "Big Things"
