This is one of many flocks of sheep that we've encountered while hiking the main ridge of the Rodnei Mountains in Romania. The main ridge of the mountains constitutes the natural border between Bistrița-Năsăud and Maramureș counties, and shepherds from both counties bring their flocks here in summer to graze in the abundantly grass-filled mountain slopes.

SGA Summer Vacation Recs

So, a few weeks ago, a friend asked for longfic recommendations to read while on vacation, and I did not really realize how many I was recommending at the time. Seemed like a good idea to make a post about it.

It is obviously much easier to find inhabitants for an inferno or even a purgatorio. (Ezra Pound) Yeah, I'd say that about covers it, Ezra. John and Rodney are left behind when Atlantis (and, by extension, Pegasus) is evacuated. While returning to the Milky Way, they decide to bring a few friends along.

What A Wonderful Bunker You Would Make by ocdindeed, 50K, McShep, Rated M Summary in simple words: Rodney is recluse and John has a kid. Summary in not so simple words: Rodney McKay has given up on the world, living a simple life up on a mountain devoid of people. He likes it that way, at least he did until a kid with a full head of dark hair ambled up his dirt driveway and changed his sequestered life forever. (AU - Set during SG1 & Pre-SGA timeline.)

“Are you back from endbusting?” Grian calls down.

Impulse shifts on his horse. “We might’ve, uh, gotten a little something for you here. If you want to come take a look.”

Grian scampers down the mountain, taking a not-insignificant amount of cracks to his boots, and crouches in front of them. Wordlessly, Impulse switches to holding an elytra in his hand.

“Oh!” shouts Grian.

“Now d’you want it now, or do you want to earn it?” Impulse asks, but is quickly cut over by noises of dissent from Grian and Iskall.

“Nah nah nah nah nah gimme gimme gimme,” says Grian, darting forward to pick up the elytra. It’s maybe a little greedy, but he’s been busy! Most people on the server who want wings have got them already, he’s just been stuck here with Rodney and finding all those rare blue blocks for his build.

“I think he’s already done his time,” Iskall says with a muffled laugh, echoing Grian’s thoughts exactly. “Here in the overworld.”

“Oh, sure, sure,” laughs Impulse. “Go on then, let’s see it! You haven’t gotten them yet, have you?” “Fresh new wings,” says Iskall.

“Yeah, fresh new season!” Impulse’s horse rears up for a second. “You ready?”

“I was born ready,” answers Grian. “This is the best part of the season!”

He says that, but tossing on the straps of the elytra, he always forgets how good it feels-- suddenly, an uplifting, dizzying rush fills his entire being. It’s the world’s most satisfying morning stretch packed into a few seconds of magic, Grian shaking his torso to wriggle his way into two new limbs arching out from his back. The elytra pops off. In its place, a pair of sharpish wings, thin and nimble, coated in the most gorgeous iridescent cyan. Their undersides are a ruddy pink, like terracotta, or cherry blossoms, and they fade out softly at the flight feathers.

Impulse and Iskall cheer, and Grian yells out his own satisfaction, giving his new wings a few test-flight flaps. They go with his base! Last season’s set was fun in their own right, heavy as a wool shawl and bulky with moss and skulk shot through the gray, but these look acrobatic. Probably the most dynamic he’s ever gotten on Hermitcraft.

“Are they real?” asks Iskall, spurring his horse forward with interest. “Not like are they real, but are they fantasy, or…?”

“Like a real species,” Impulse finishes. “Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t know any birds that look like that. They look tropical!”

“Maybe I picked the wrong base location, maybe I should go shack up with Etho,” Grian adds, although a bit distractedly, pushing his wings as far forward as he can to get a good look at them. His wings are always unique, season to season, server to server. The past two go-arounds he’s had weird wings, that didn’t quite match up with any living bird, that were a bit more… adaptive to the season’s antics, instead of the chicken and parrot he’d had before. Something about these blue ones seem like a return to baseline, though. He’s got to find out.

“Hey there, Gem!” Impulse shouts.

They turn to see her wading across the river, darting up onto land with her headband’s tie streaming behind her. “Grian! You got your wings!” 

“Hallo there, Gem,” says Iskall, riding up to meet her. “We were talking about if Grian’s wings here are a fantasy bird like the last few times, or if he’s something… more observable.” He mimes holding a spyglass up to Grian. Grian takes a hop-skip and a jump and glides down to them, relishing the air through his feathers again. 

“He’s very shiny!” Impulse shouts.

“I can see that,” says Gem, admiring, and then her face twists up in laughter. Apprehension shoots through Grian. 

“What--” he starts.

“Grian!” Gem shrieks, and throws back her head in such crying laughter that she nearly falls over, stumbling back. She covers her face and then gives up on hiding. “You’re-- you’re a kingfisher!”

“No,” says Grian instantly, as Impulse and Iskall begin an uproar. “No!” He spins on the spot, outraged. “Really? Aw, really?”

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ countless abuse and sexual assault allegations caught up to him on Monday after he was arrested and charged following a grand jury indictment. Though he pleaded not guilty to three federal counts of sex trafficking and racketeering the following day (he’s in detention pending trial after being denied bail twice), the damage is done in the court of public opinion.

After the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York unsealed Combs’ indictment early Tuesday morning, social media wasted no time cherry-picking the most searing details — most notably the narcotics and 1,000+ bottles of baby oil and lubricant that law enforcement seized during the March raids on Combs’ properties, which were allegedly intended for his abusive sex parties, aka “freak-offs.”

The shocking information and other parts of the indictment became another point of scrutiny for Combs after his 2017 rebrand as Brother Love failed to conceal the darkest parts of his alleged disturbing behavior behind closed doors.

The U.S. attorney’s indictment of Combs appears to bolster what many have alleged about the now-disgraced music mogul for years, with alarming claims of violence and abuse going back as far as 1990.

The beginning of Combs’ end began on Nov. 16, 2023, when his ex-girlfriend and former record company artist Casandra “Cassie” Ventura filed a bombshell civil lawsuit under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, accusing the Bad Boy Records founder of sex trafficking, rape, physical violence, intimidation and more over a period of 10 years. Combs and Ventura settled the suit just one day later. The latter’s public claims started a domino effect in the months following when seven more women and two men — including Combs’ former producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones and another former label artist, Dawn Richard of Danity Kane and Diddy — Dirty Money — to come forward with their harrowing accusations about Combs, all of whom claimed to at some point have been assaulted, abused or threatened by him.

But Combs isn’t the only high-profile figure in the music industry whose alleged misdeeds have been exposed recently.

Shortly before Ventura filed her lawsuit last November, former music executive Drew Dixon filed a lawsuit against famed producer L.A. Reid, claiming that he harassed and sexually assaulted her twice in 2001 while she was working for him (Reid’s request to have the case thrown out was denied in August). In June, producer The-Dream was hit with a sexual assault lawsuit; his former protégé Chanaaz Mangroe accused him of rape, sex trafficking and other violent actions (the producer filed to have his suit dismissed in August). That same month, Kanye West’s former assistant, Lauren Pisciotta, sued him for alleged sexual harassment (a legal representative for the rapper claimed the lawsuit was “blackmail and extortion”). And in July, Murder Inc. Records co-founder Irv Gotti was sued for alleged rape and abuse by a woman identified only as Jane Doe (he has denied any wrongdoing).

As history has shown, a culture of abuse has run rampant at the hands of powerful men in the music industry who refuse to take accountability for any of their alleged harm. Combs claimed in December that he “did not do any of the awful things being alleged” against him before brutal surveillance footage that surfaced in May clearly showed the music executive physically assaulting Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016 (Ventura detailed the same encounter precisely in her lawsuit). He later released a video apology on Instagram (which has since been removed from his page), taking “full responsibility” for his actions in the footage but for nothing else he’s been accused of.

That could change once Combs’ yet-to-be-scheduled federal sex trafficking trial begins, as his mountain of allegations is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s publicly known. Federal prosecutors’ extensive evidence of Combs’ alleged criminal enterprise will likely expose more, especially since they claim the mogul’s unlawful behavior persisted just days before his arrest.

Nonetheless, Combs’ indictment, which also cites unnamed associates and employees, signals a watershed moment many didn’t anticipate would come so soon after Ventura’s lawsuit — remember, it took over a decade for charges to come down on Jeffrey Epstein for his crimes. With prosecutors adamant about trying Combs’ case in a court of law, the American justice system has taken the first significant step toward holding the industry executive liable for his improprieties.

Now the music industry has officially been put on notice.

The public takedown of Combs is a warning to any wealthy, high-powered folks in the music space who indulge in similar criminal acts and the fearful enablers who stand by silently, unmoved and unwilling to intervene in corruption that goes on far too long. The same goes for those, like Russell Simmons, who thought fleeing could erase the horrid accusations coming from survivors who bravely went on record about the pain endured in their workplace or inflicted by their powerful employers. Evading justice only prolongs the damage, as Combs may be figuring out. But the day of reckoning, for the music industry, at least, is here, and the reign of its abusers is coming to an end.

If we as a culture are to do right by any survivors who have spoken up, we cannot stop with Combs. It’ll take more action and more listening to prosecute unscrupulous men to the fullest extent of the law. Moreover, the music industry stakeholders must commit to creating a safer environment by exiling those who continuously defame it with their deceit.

What was the first ship you remember shipping? Mine is Rodney and Fender from that one movie robots (from 2005). Yes I was a weird one..

Animated Beetlejuice and Lydia. I looked at it as a little kid and my first thought wasn't "A few decades from now, people on the internet will argue about this." It was "These characters love each other, they're married, they'd die for each other. I wish an immortal magic monster would appear in my house and care that much about me."

My very first memory of them is Snugglejuice, where Beetlejuice is brainwashed into a cutesy pink mockery of everything he is that bears no resemblance to our boy except for maybe the casual gender fluidity. This becomes the dominant personality and nothing will convince him to take the cure that changes him back, right up until he realizes Lydia is in danger and about to be similarly brainwashed, at which point he turns into a tank and crashes right through the goddamn place to save her.

Whether you ship them romantically or not, they're two characters who would, and did, move mountains for each other. I'll love them forever for that.

Caelwynn's Mod List for Stardew 1.6 - Expansions/NPCS

Stardew Valley Expanded — expands upon the original world of Stardew by adding dialogue and gift taste changes to original NPCs, adding six new marriage candidates, nine additional NPCs, and an entire new area to explore.

Ridgeside Village — another expansion, this time bringing an entirely new village with several maps to life, connected to the valley by a cable car north of the bus stop. Ridgeside has fourteen new marriage candidates available from the get-go, plus an additional thirty-two NPCs.

East Scarp — adds a hamlet to the east of Pelican Town. It is a far more modular expansion; while more than a dozen NPCs come with East Scarp, at thirty more are available through various add-on mods. The East Scarp page on Nexus lists characters available on Nexus, while more can be found in an alpha or beta stage on the East Scarp Discord.

Always Raining in the Valley — adds Sterling, Mia, and Henry to East Scarp

•Happy Easter guys! 🐣 At the beginning of march, we went in the north to see this amazing mountain called "Pietrosul Rodnei(The Rodna Mountains)", which has a 2303m (7,556 feet) elevation. This "little guy" is the highest peak in all of the Eastern Carpathians. The Rodna Mountains have one of the longest continuous ridges in Romania, with over 50 km (31 mi) from west to east and a width of over 25 km (16 mi). While the ridge itself poses no difficulties, the challenge is the massive length of it, and the absence of drinkable water (except for a few puddles that are usually dry).
