In my enthusiasm for your scintillating work, I have created altered antique book covers for Overcoming.  

I perused though base designs aplenty, but determined to use the moth/butterfly design; to reference an imago, and the rebirth of the marriage between the two intendeds. Perhaps, as well, to the reality that the fic itself underwent metamorphosis while you wrote it. (:

I wanted a cover for use in my favored reading app, MoonReader, and considered other Fannibals might possess similar needs.

I do hope you quite find them to your liking!

#FannibalSelfRecs: Season 1

This Is My Design is my hairdressing AU set during S1. Thank you for creating this event, @hannibalficwriters!

1. What does the piece mean to you?

It wad my first ever AU fic, which started out as a one-shot giveaway for @granpappy-winchester. But there was such a lovely response to it that I ended up extending it to four chapters. It’s just a teeny piece - under 8,000 words - but I had a ton of fun writing it! And when @roguequartz designed the magazine cover featured in Chapter 1 just because they wanted to, I couldn’t believe it! They went on to create a couple more amazing pieces for the fic and I couldn’t have been more touched. So this is a very special fic to me.

2. What was your favorite line in your piece/what was your favourite comment that you’ve received on the work?

My favourite line is from the very end of Chapter 1:

‘'I have a date with the Chesapeake Clipper,’ he says dazedly.

And grins.’

I received so many wonderful comments but I remember one in particular that made me incredibly happy:

This may be the best thing I have ever read! I absolutely adore it. Also, can I mention this freaking line: Will finds himself drawn irresistibly into silent conversation, an increasingly coquettish exchange of glances evolving from tentative admiration to playful flirtation, culminating in a long look of heart-hammering intensity when Hannibal leans in to gently brush stray clippings from Will's rapidly pinkening ears. You balance eloquence with humor and allusions to canon incredibly. It's gorgeous. This just made me so happy! I'm grinning like an idiot. *cue wild applause*

I mean, wow! How lovely is that??

3. Did you research for the piece extensively when you wrote it? Did you learn anything new and unusual from writing it? Tell us something unique about the process.

I did spend an inordinate amount of time looking up hairdressing techniques and stylish sinks! But really I tried to keep the hairdressing stuff simple so that I could focus on the characterisation. The most fun I had was adapting canon lines. And my eureka moment was definitely coming up with the Chesapeake Clipper! :D
