•Robaire is a hopeless Romantic who dared to go the extra Mile for his darling.
•He would never let her out of his sight. He would keep her closer to him and won't let anyone near her including his exs who dumped him because they said he and his band won't blow up now they're looking dumb because he made it.
• Loves looking at her when she sleeps, awake, shopping you name it. He also stalks her 24/7 not letting her out of his sight in public.
•Will sex her so good she can't form a word and he loves it. Will rail her none stop until he's positive she's unable to walk meaning she can't run away or escape from him.
•If she escaped he'll track her down and bring her home manipulated her with "Mon amour come home please I'm sorry I just love you that I don't wanna lose you." Or "Darling please..don't go please come home I'll die without you by my side. " And if that doesn't work he'll drag her somewhere and threatened to end their lives together smiling and speaking softly and sweetly "Do you hate me mon amour? " "If I made your life hell..then let's end it here you and me in death together ~." "I'll drag you down with me as we fall off this bridge together no one will separate us if we're dead baby."
•He said this with this his eyes wide smiling at her normal as he clutch her hand hard and roughly looking in her eyes "No..NO! Are you insane?!" He'll respond by smiling then gently caressing her cheek "Yes..yes I am mon amour I'm crazy about you."
•After that she doesn't leave him and he takes her with him on tour and if she tries to leave again he'll say things like "You must want to be with me for eternity because I will end us Romeo and Juliette you & me dead together is that how you want us to go mon amour..at the age of 21 to 23?" He's obsessed with Romeo and Juliette so much since he was a boy and he once said at 7 that if he and his lover would to die it would be together like them he won't hesitate to go through with his childhood obsession at 23 years old.
•If his darling is with someone who made her uncomfortable he'd confront them whether she's there or not. He'll say things her keep her from leaving him "Mon amour you know I love you I'd do anything for you." Or "Baby I would never leave you I'll keep you forever. "
• I can't stress this enough how good he is in bed. Like he watches p*on to get ideas and they always work plus be comes up with ideas on his own.
•Choking, gagging, spanking, top/Dom
•Big d*ck energy on strong 💪 😤. Won't get her pregnant with his bre33ding kink unless she's wants to walk around with a big belly carrying h I s C h i l d r e n! Definitely will do it when she's pregnant but not too hard or rough unless she said so.
•Will mention her in interviews saying things like "Yes she's my w i f e." "My beautiful wife. " "my sexy baby mama." Will wait til the baby is born and will name it with her and will keep his baby from the public eye.
If it's a boy Robaire Jr
If it's a girl Rosetta
That's it guys Jesse is next

📌 Inconsistence
* Patrizio Monty hair is black ⚫ in The Sims 2 (as you can see in the in-game storyline photos), but brown 🟤 in The Sims 3. I don't like this inconsistence in The Sims 3 even if TS3 is set A LOT before TS2 in terms of timeline. So, for me his natural hair color is black, NOT brown.
* Olive Specter had brown hair 🟤 as adult but both her parents are black heads. ⚫ People keep insisting that it's not possible, and in this case it's correct. Because she has no grandparents, so no ancestors from whom she could have inherited recessive genes. But only parents.
* Isabella Monty's hair is brown in both The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, but simPE says she has the genetic code for blonde hair. If it wasn't an error by the developers, it would still make sense and it's possible that she could have blonde hair, as she could have inherited it as a recessive gene from her paternal grandmother Julia Pantalone or her maternal grandfather Lucio Zanni.
* Goneril Capp's hair is brown in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 but simPe says she has the genetic code for red hair. If it wasn't an error by the developers, it would still make sense and it's possible that she could have red hair, as she could have inherited it as a recessive gene from her paternal greatgrandmother Queen Thebe.
The curious fact is that Goneril already show a recessive gene. Both of her parents, Contessa and Consort, are blonde, but she show brown hair because she could possibly have inherited her maternal grandmother Scribonia Capp's brown hair. So, why change the recessive gene shown if the genetic codes still show that she has red hair? Mh, that's very strange!
* Kaylynn Langerak's hair is black in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, but simPE says she has the genetic code for blonde hair. In The Sims 2, Kaylynn is an NPC and doesn't have a family, so she can't have recessive genes and the only thing you would think is that she dyed her hair, but in The Sims 3 they justified this by giving her a family. Her father Dustin Langerak and her maternal aunt Zelda both have blonde hair, while her mother Iliana has black hair.
* Ophelia Nigmos' hair is naturally blonde on simPe too, but that's a mystery because NO ONE in her family tree has blonde hair.
* Miranda's hair is genetically "custom", meaning that the game does not read it as any natural color (which is also why you cannot change her eyebrows when changing her appearance in the mirror). But her eyebrows are blonde, which means she should be naturally blonde, like her father Albany, her maternal grandparents and half the Capps from her grandpa Consort family tree.
* Hermia Capp's hair is red as her father Caliban and her two siblings Tybalt and Juliette, but simPE says she has the genetic code for blonde. This is not an error. Hermia is naturally blonde since in Beta VV, she was the daughter of Regan and Cornwall and not Cordelia and Caliban. The developers decided to change her hair colors when they made her the daughter of Cordelia and Caliban and probably forgot to change her genetic hair color, but even so, if the player decides to make her blonde even now that she is the daughter of Cordelia and Caliban it would still make sense. Regan is one of Cordelia's sisters, and Cordelia is also blonde, and furthermore, Hermia could have inherited blonde hair from anyone in her family tree.
So yes, Hermia natural color is blonde in vanilla Veronaville, but red in fixed version of the Neighborhood like Meetme fixed template. I like to think she as a red head, so I put her with the red heads.

we also have to think of taylors own perspective and relationship she had with ‘growing up’ because i mean we know that from 20/21 she really forced herself to seem more mature and more grown than she’d ever been I mean the entire time she was dating jake she was on the speak now world tour singing about being enchanted with someone you just met and wearing big sparkly dresses and running up and down stair cases singing about romeo and juliette yet the very next era her hair was straightened she started wearing more conservative / tame outfits she held and presented herself differently than she had before and then for that relationship to turn sour and them to tell her ‘if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine’ (if you were older or i were younger) after you changing so much about yourself to try and fit the piece to complete the puzzle and on TOP of that the entire world collectively deciding that you sing too much about break ups and you date too many men and you’re suddenly a slut who chases guys to write albums I JUST!!! I totally get why she would have complex feelings about growing up and the transition from girlhood into womanhood because most teenage girls DESIRE to be seen as grown and adult but we don’t realize the danger it puts us in until we’re sometimes much older and I just have so many feelings about it and she changed so much about herself in such a short amount of time to be seen as grown when the reason she did it didn’t even work and actually back fired on her :(

All Vows Ch 20/21: The Music of All Vows
Phantom of the Opera: E/C, R/C, C/M, Post-Leroux/ALW Canon; Redemption Arc 140K Words, 40 Chapters, 18+
This week we have a double-chapter post of All Vows Chapter 20: A New Teacher and Chapter 21: Maman's Requiem
We finally made it--Erik and Christine have re-met. In Chapter 21, Erik recalls the first time he sang to and with Christine, and plays the Requiem he wrote for his mother. I wanted his Requiem to include traditional French music, Western Classical, a call back to Jewish and Christian liturgical music and influence from his extensive time in Persia. Here is Kol Nidre/All Vows, the prayer that the fic is named after and Erik hears outside the Grande Synagogue. It's going to come up again.
youtube
In Persia, he would have most certainly have heard Qawaali, a Sufi devotional music that originated in India but would have made it to Persia by this time. I found the video below while writing this post and it illustrates a combination of western orchestra with the harmonium and singing style of Qawaali--which I wanted to include in the Requiem.
youtube
Then of course there is "A La Claire Fontaine", which is like "Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star." This is Erik, and not Christine's comfort song--but Christine has a currently-unknown connection to the song (she's Swedish, remember). I just saw another fic I'm reading use it, and I'm surprised that was the first time after my fic that I saw someone else use it--considering it is so widely known in France.
youtube
And then of course there are the operas, but the operas of Leroux's novel are very well explored (although listen, Gounod's Romeo & Juliette slaps. I just saw it live).

Chapter 21
Suffice it to say, after Tyler’s arson…
[...]
Who was the one whispering into her father’s ear?
I’m sorry, but did this fuckwit seriously ask who was whispering into her dad’s ear? DO YOU EVEN FUCKING HAVE TO ASK?!
IT IS THE ONE WHO FUCKING UPPED THE ANTE AND BURNED A CHILD ALIVE IN FRONT OF HUNDREDS OF WITNESSES.
So what wasn’t she seeingm now?
This isn’t my typo; this was the fucking published book. What the hell.
I WOULD ASK WHERE THE EDITOR WAS, BUT I THINK WE ALL KNOW THAT THERE WAS NONE.
Juliette shot him a warning glare as she walked to the door, but Marshall only grinned. “Goodbye, you menace.”
Chapter 21 summary: A week after Tyler’s attack, and things went to hell in a handbasket. Juliette has been trying to contact all of the hotels to ask if a guest has been making too much noise and leaving too big of a mess, but is getting nowhere. What’s worse (in her opinion) is that Roma has been ignoring all of her messages.
She confesses to Kathleen that she feels like there should have been another attack, and the fact that there have only been 2 is worrying to her. Kathleen reminds her that this person is after money, not to spread fear like Paul wanted.
Juliette goes into her father’s office, to find a nationalist and Tyler. Apparently, they finished the vaccination, and Tyler is jumping on the opportunity for them to make bank from this. Juliette chides the government official by shaming him about letting people in his city suffer, but the man doesn’t give a shit. The guy legit thinks that charging people to not die from this unnatural plague is somehow going to stop the communists from winning. (No, I don’t follow that logic, either.)
Juliette reports back to Kathleen what the man told her: that the white flowers aligned themselves with the commies. Kathleen goes to make a call, and when she comes back, she says that it’s partially true. That it’s not Lord and Roma, but rather, a sect that’s pulling further and further away from the whites by the day. Juliette thinks that this is the commie attempts to get rid of both gangs, and then to weaken the Nationalists. Katleen encourages Juliette to… literally not.
Then Kathleen mentions Rose’s secret boyfriend. It’s obvious that Juliette doesn’t give a shit about it, so I don’t care, either.
Juliette goes to Marshall, to ask about the white’s relationship with communists. He explains to her that most of the whites are refugees who fled from the reign of terror that came down upon Russia… which is way too much Russian political history in a book about Chinese political history wrapped up in a disguise as supernatural Romeo and Juliette. He continues on to tell Juliette about the government official her father had been meeting with. That he’s like a dog who won’t release a bone, so good luck getting the vaccination to the city. Before she leaves again, she tells him to stay inside.
Chapter 22
And all in one breath, Rosalind said, “Because he’s associated with the White Flowers, okay?”
Look, this book barely gives a shit about the main Romeo and Juliette subplot. It really doesn’t have time for a SECOND one with a character that the book also doesn’t give a shit about.
Without waiting for an answer, Juliette hauled Alisa by the arm and took off.
Chapter 22 summary: Juliette rushes back to help accompany her mother to the woman’s temple. In there, Juliette confronts Rose about the rumors that she has a boyfriend. Rose confesses that her boyfriend is a White Flower. She insists that she’s convincing him to leave the whites, but somehow I doubt that things are going to work out for her.
Juliette watches as her mother meets with a client. This probably will be important, but Juliette doesn’t give a shit. She mulls over the plot instead, which is maddening because she adds nothing to it.
As she looks around the temple some more, she sees Alisa sitting in the back corner, reading a book. The young girl tells Juliette she had hoped that nobody would mind since she was in a temple. She goes on to say that everybody is gathered for the funeral, and Juliette panics, knowing that the procession would lead them right past where they are… Where Tyler is waiting for them to come out.
Juliette runs out, only to find Tyler locked in battle with an unnamed white. She herself is then cornered by both Roma and Demetri. This amounts to nothing before Juliette randomly grabs Alisa– who had followed Juliette out– and takes off.

At fist they worked hard. Tina soon had her first role:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shortly after she went on a date. Benjamin was disapointed as he had a crush on her since highschool and went out with Gucci. The two got along well and started showing intresst in each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Life goes on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tina notices that she is pregnant and meets Romeos wife Juliette, she is however used to his affairs. (He completed the serial romantic aspiration before marrying her, so his affairs have no effect in game.)
Tumblr media
Later she gives birth to her daughter Jamila.
Notes: Romeo, his and all my sims that started as teens age is messed up, so he is younger then he should be. This happend because of the updates to life spans I think.
Serial Romantic: for this aspiration I allow sims that have completted it to have as many relationships as they want / I find intresting. I do however plan on him getting a divorce. As the Monty-Goth children were born before their marriage, they would count as cheating for Juliette and likly be a good start for the divorce. The Capp-Household should come up in two posts.
Rounds:
This round was double the length of my normal rounds at 14 days, to make them attend the starlight-awards-thing. To make up for that age wise I hadn't played them last round. Normal rounds are fr.6:00 to fr.6:00, with the exeption of houshold with sims in university, were I End the round once they had their grades, before I have to reenroll them.

This was not supposed to be how tonight went. How could she possibly explain this away. She downed the glass of champagne and excused herself to the balcony for air. It wasnt long before she heard someone come outside behind her and she just knew. "Its not what it looks like." She blurted out before sighing and collecting herself. "Okay it is what it looks like."

Slowly Waking Up From a Takarazuka-less Stupor, Part 1: Romeo & Juliette
Tumblr media
Is there even any point in saying it's been a terrible year? Not only has live Takarazuka been out of the question, but very poor mental health, work-mandated increased screen time, and laaaate EST starts have made it very difficult to partake in livestreams. Like... I missed Tokyo Anastasia and Daimon's mura raku. That bad.
Things have slightly improved on the start time front with a move to the West Coast. I managed both Romeo & Juliette streams so far.
This is................ for me, a very bittersweet production. I'd fully planned to see this live before everything went down. I was looking forward to the hypothetical shinko perhaps more than the real thing. Neither of those panned out... and the casting choices in what we got left me with a number of questions.
But! I don't want to forget how to write. And life without my one and only hobby is stupid. So, let's get back into it.
A quick overall,
Coto can only meet my expectations because they are so high. Wonderful, fantastic, I hope someday she gets to be funny.
Maisora? VERY cute, and A+ costumes in a sea of HMM.
On that note, in addition to the inexplicable LL Bean-inspired vibe, there were some puzzling choices, like B-cast Benvolio (Ayaki) and Mercutio (Amahana) looking so similar I can't imagine how they could be distinguishable to new fans (something I presume a company floundering financially in COVID would very much like to have more of).
I wish I could see the ensemble better. RetJ shows its small theater roots; it's not a great troupe show when you are limited to the camera angles.
That said, BACKGROUND ALL-STARS: Sazanami Reira always and forever, I wish she was DEATH; Asamizu Ryou for noticeably characterizing her Montague (Bloom, apparently!) as a lovable airhead?? despite, you know, everything about her; Minato Rihi for her whole VIBE; Yuunagi Ryou for her B-cast performance cradling her dying best friend, which I swear I'm not only saying because I'm dating her biggest fan; Amaki Homare for not doing anything in particular but at least giving herself hair I could find easily; Amato Kanon and Houma Toa for always doing the MOST back there; and Taiki Hayate for the expressions and the cartwheels.
A VERSUS B!
Tybalt:
Tumblr media
If I'd cast this I think I would have just made Aichan the every day Tybalt, because that makes the most sense. Neither was a home run for me (though I'll say I have very high expectations for Tybalt, because the face Teru pulled within 2 seconds of walking onstage in 2010 in the first show I ever watched all the way through is literally the reason I'm a Takarazuka fan). I AGREE with pushing Seo out of her comfort zone, but I think Tybalt was the wrong push (I'd have rather seen Mercutio). Aichan's death had a horniness I wish her Tybalt had more of, but that I think would have eventually come out maybe with less switching.
Benvolio:
Tumblr media
I REALLY liked Seo's Benvolio, and I'm only one off the full mark out of respect for Aka-chan, who, to be fair, I think also did a heck of a job. I loved the way Seo styled herself, and she gave me stronger best bro vibes. I just! would have liked! to see Seo Mercutio I think!
Mercutio:
Tumblr media
:))))))) y'all I love Shin. The last time I saw Hoshigumi live was the Man from Algiers/Estrellas 2.0 tour, where (having never watched Algiers before) I was SHOCKED by the closing scene and Shin's delivery of it. Despite 2020 feeling 1000 years long, that show feels like four seconds ago... but we're coming up on two years, and Shin has only continued to climb in that time. This is the performance that made me feel like I got my money's worth out of a cast to which I otherwise would have made several changes. Her energy was impeccable, her look was appropriately crazy, her death scene was heartbreaking, and she did it all with the aura of someone who's only like 2/5ths done growing. I can't WAIT to see the rest.
I truly feel so much affection for Ema, but she was not giving me what I needed in this role; it was low energy, and not even by comparison, because her stream was first. I think she would have done Benvolio a lot of justice, or (hear me out!): Love. IMO her vibe is soft in a way where it should be highlighted as her strength rather than challenged out of her.
Paris:
Tumblr media
It's not just Shin love (although she was cute AF); I think this was just "well Aka-chan has to go somewhere" casting, because she's too big and earnest as a person for Paris. He needs that foppish, twinky, completely unfounded huge ego vibe.
Death:
Tumblr media
I have mixed feelings about this. Because like... Aichan's Death was A LOT, but also kind of a weird choice?? Death is historically for ken 5-9 future stars experimenting with emoting; of course a ken14 nibante who's been through Senka is gonna kill it... I just think she's a resource that should have been permanently relegated to something higher stakes.
My rating is based more on how OVERMUCH Aichan's performance was, than on a dislike of Ema's. I definitely preferred her Death to her Mercutio. She was giving me a WEIRD ENERGY, but whatever the energy was, there was a lot of it, and it was different.
Love:
To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't have cast EITHER of these people as Love. Hoshigumi just IMO has better dancers and/or bigger upcoming stars, and I'd have loved a Love/Death relationship and chemistry that made sense.
Overall, I definitely preferred A cast! Looking forward to seeing them one more time.

not to be a hater on Christmas Eve but if they do 21:21 tonight I will literally become an anti, these numbers and the time has absolutely no meaning to them
the kieutou romeo + juliette reference inside a reference (reference-ception) worked so well because
it was super subtle
they referenced a different moment of the movie so you needed to have seen the film to even know
the moment they chose wasn’t random but actually connected to the whole fishtank/aquarium theme of the season
and most importantly: romeo and juliette worked so perfectly as a parallel/metaphor for kieutou with their two *rival* squads and the *from different worlds* storyline
even the on the nose minute for minute moment between nora and josh worked because it tied into their arc and nora was supposed to make up for the mental illness representation we didn’t get in season 3, so the reference made sense
but 21:21 will just be……… weird and empty

peach’s summer book list
i had a lot of fun compiling the list of books i read during the 20-21 winter, so i decided i would do a summer one as well! i still have a lot of books i own but haven’t read, so im definitely not lacking in material
if you didn’t see my winter list, how my book list works is basically like this: i read a book that i own but have not previously read, write a short summary immediately after finishing the book, write down my thoughts on the book, and then provide a rating for the book. i also might include background info on why i read this particular book/feelings about the author, but that depends on the book. that’s how each entry works
without further ado, let’s get started!
1. Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith
okay so i absolutely adore another book by andrew smith (written after grasshopper jungle) called the alex crow. it’s one of my favorite books of all time, so naturally i wanted to see if grasshopper jungle would make me feel similarly. just like the alex crow, grasshopper jungle’s plot is. so fucking weird. it stars austin szerba, a teenage polish kid who lives in ealing, iowa, and is often sexually confused regarding his girlfriend shann and his best friend robby. and in ealing, iowa, austin and robby accidentally and unknowingly unleash an unstoppable army of huge six-foot-tall praying mantis bugs that only want to do two things: fuck and eat. and i just have to say: andrew smith’s got an absolutely dynamo writing style. alex crow is similar, where it’s a book about kind of everything all at once, framed in a moment centering around teenage boys. it’s fantastic, and it’s more than a little gross, and i love it. this book made me feel so many things, and i thought austin was such an amazing narrator and main character to identify with. this book has it all: shitty teenage boy humor, fucked up science experiments, and poetic imagery that will make you want to cry. and explicit lgbt characters.
412/10 andrew smith what do you put in your water i just want to know
2. Burn by Patrick Ness
patrick ness has written a plethora of some of my favorite books (such as a monster calls, the chaos walking trilogy, and the rest of us just live here) so when i saw this one in the store i knew it would be a great one. burn is an alternate history fantasy that takes place in 1957 frome, washington, during the height of the cold war, and it begins with a girl named sarah and her father hiring a dragon to help out on their farm. but there’s not just dragons, farm living, and cold war tensions; there’s also a really shitty small town cop, a cult of dragon worshippers and their deadly teenage assassin, a pair of fbi agents, and a prophecy that sarah’s newly hired dragon claims she’s a part of. i think eoin colfer’s highfire was on my winter list, which also featured a story that included dragons and shitty cops, so when i first began burn i thought it was funny to have two books that had both things. you know, if you had a nickel etc etc. but that’s really where the similarities end because burn is entirely it’s own monster (dragon). burn is entirely invested in its world, and its fascinating. not only that, i had no clue where the book would take me next. there were so many surprises and amazing twists that honestly just blew me away. this book also includes beautifully written complicated discussions on family, race, and love - it features interracial and queer romances as the two most prominent romance plots which was such a nice surprise from a book i wasn’t expecting to have that kind of representation. this book is witty, fast-paced, and a very heartening read - i absolutely adored it.
9/10 dragons and becoming motivated by the power of love and friendship are so fucking cool
3. As Meat Loves Salt by Maria McCann
i hate this book! as meat loves salt is a historical fiction novel which takes place in seventeenth century england, which is going through a grisly civil war. the protagonist, jacob cullen, is a servant for a wealthy household and is engaged to another servant in the house. but due to certain events that are almost entirely jacob’s fault, he flees the house and is separated from his wife. from there, he joins the royal army and meets a kind soldier, ferris, and the two become fast friends. jacob and ferris’s relationship begins to bridge past friendly, and jacob struggles with his homoerotic feelings as well as the growing obsession and violence inside him. also, they try to start a colony. listen, i don’t know how to describe the book because so much happens, but it basically just follows jacob and all the terrible decisions he makes because he is, truly, a terrible person. ferris is kind and good, and jacob is scum of the earth. he sucks so bad. the entire time i was reading this book (which took absolutely so long), all i wanted was for jacob to just get his ass handed to him. i wanted to see him suffer. and it’s not like i just personally don’t like him - i believe the book purposefully depicts him as unsympathetic even though he is the narrator. i did enjoy the very in depth and accurate portrayal of what life would’ve been like in seventeenth century england, and i think it was interesting to read a character that is just the absolute worst person you’ve ever encountered and see him try and justify his actions, so if you enjoy that kind of thorough writing, then this book would be perfect for you. however, i did not see that bitch ass motherfucker jacob cullen suffer enough. i’d kill him with my bare hands.
2/10 diversity win! the worst man on earth is mlm!
4. This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab
i know ive had a friend tell me how great one of schwab’s other book series is, but truthfully i bought this book because the cover is sick as hell and it was on a table in the store that advertised for buy two get one free, i think. something like that. anyway, this savage song takes place in a future in which monsters, for whatever reason, suddenly became real and out for blood in a mysterious event nicknamed the phenomenon. august flynn is one of these monsters, but he takes no pride in that fact and only wants to feel human. kate harker is the daughter of a ruthless man and is trying her hardest to be ruthless, too, but deep down she knows it’s just an act. their city, verity, stands divided, and kate and august stand on either side - but when august is sent on a mission to befriend kate in the hopes of stopping an all out war, the lines begin to blur. this book rules. august and kate are such interesting and dynamic characters, and the narrative is familiar while still being capable of twisting the story around and taking the feet out from under you in really compelling ways. this savage song is part of the monsters of verity duology, and i can’t wait to dive into how the story continues and finishes.
11/10 sometimes you can judge a book by it’s cover
4a. Our Dark Duet by Victorian Schwab
this is the sequel and finale for this savage song and i’d figure i’d update everyone: fantastic ending, beautiful, showstopping, painful.
12/10 loved it and will definitely be keeping an eye out for schwab’s other books
5. White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi
oh boy. okay. white is for witching is about a house, and it is about the women who have lived inside of it. when her mother dies abroad, miranda silver begins to act strangely, and there’s nothing her father or her twin brother seem to be able to do about it. she develops an eating disorder and begins to hear voices in the silver family house, converted to a bed and breakfast by miranda’s dad; and she begins to lose herself in the house and the persistent presence of her family legacy. white is for witching switches perspective dizzingly and disorientingly between miranda, her twin eliot, miranda’s friend from school named ore, and the house itself. this story is a horror story as much as it as a tragedy as much as it is a romance as much as it is a bunch of other things. oyeyemi brings race, sexuality, nationality, and family into this story and forces you not to look away. this book is poetry.
(like i mentioned briefly, this book heavily deals with topics of race and closely follows miranda’s eating disorder. read responsibly, and take care of yourselves)
15/10 this book consumed me and i think i’ll have to read it another 10 more times to feel it properly
6. These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
okay. okay. strap in for a ride. these violent delights is a romeo and juliet style story, taking place in glittering 1920’s shanghai. the city stands divided - not only between the foreign powers encroaching on chinese land, but also between the scarlet gang and the white flowers, who are at the height of a generations-long blood feud. juliette cai, heir to the scarlets, has recently returned from four years abroad and is determined to prove herself ruthless enough to lead. roma montagov, heir to the white flowers, is standing strenuously on his place as next in line due to a slip up four years prior and is desperate to keep hold of his title. and in the midst of juliette and roma’s burning history with each other threatening to combust, an unnatural monster lurks in the waters of shanghai, loosing a madness on scarlets and white flowers alike. this book has it all - scorned ex lovers, political intrigue, deadly monsters, and all set on a glamorous backdrop of the roaring twenties. i absolutely was enraptured by this book and the way it plays around the story of romeo and juliet so well that it easily became it’s own monster, but with the punches and embraces of something classically shakespearan. gong does just an absolutely breathtaking job of fitting this fantastical story amid the larger world of shanghai and the real life historical events that had shaken the city to its core. completely immersive and outstandingly heart racing.
17/10 i was chewing on my fingernails for the last thirty pages and will continue to do so until the sequel is released (our violent ends, 16 nov 21)
7. The Antiques by Kris D’Agostino
you ever heard of the american dysfunctional family story? this is most definitely that. at the same time george westfall’s cancer takes a turn for the worse, a hurricane hits the east coast, and suddenly all at once the issues of his health, the hurricane, and all three of his children’s achingly dysfunctional adult lives are crashing into each other. reunited by george’s death, the westfall siblings have to face their grief, each other, and the problems in their own lives they attempted to put on hold while planning their father’s memorial. this is a nice story about grief and loss and love and somehow finding the humor amidst it all.
(this book does include a depiction of an autistic child who does experience several pretty bad meltdowns due to ignorant people around him not understanding how to cater to his needs. im not an authority on what depictions are or are not harmful, but i do believe this depiction is ultimately loving and well-intended.)
7/10 it made me laugh and cry and was generally one of those books that somehow hit you close to home
8. Fierce Fairytales by Nikita Gill
fierce fairytales is a poetry anthology that reimagines classic fairytales from a modern, feminist viewpoint, acknowledging that the line between hero and villain, monster and damsel, are not as clear cut as the classics try to make you believe. this book also includes illustrations done by the author herself, which i think is really cool. my personal favorite story reimagining was the story of peter pan and captain hook, called ‘boy lost’ which looked at how peter and hook’s relationship began and rotted. all in all, i think this collection of stories had a lot of important things to say and said them in frank, easy to understand poetry and prose.
7/10 beautiful message and pretty prose, but at times a little cliche
and that’s all from the summer! my fall semester starts tomorrow, and overall i feel very good about all the reading i did this summer. i even read four other books not on this list for work! so i definitely feel like i made the most out of my time, and im really glad i was able to read so many stories that made me feel a variety of different things
thanks so much for reading this list, and let me know if you read or have read any of these books and tell me what you think of them!
happy reading<3

What does Yana think of Kuromyu 21?
【Related posts: Yana about Kuromyu beginning & Yana and Kuma about Kuromyu, finale】
Dear Anon,
Errmmmmmm wellll, so far she hasn’t commented about a single thing of the new Kuromyu except that “everyone worked so hard it’s touching” and “what energy it has.” The two posts linked above include only a few tweets, but I swear those were almost ALL the tweets Yana has ever made about Kuromyu 2021😂 The ones I did not translate were also all along the same line of “what energy, such hard work!” What is interesting is that she also tweeted a LOT about her research regarding cricket and British boarding schools. It’s almost her way of doing “let’s talk about the weather⛅☔️☀️, hahaha💧!”
In the latter post linked above I translated two tweets by Yana, in the one published on the day of the final performance, she even said she only went to see the dress rehearsal.  As such I can’t say with confidence that she thought very highly of Kuromyu 2021, if I have to be honest with you.
Tumblr media
This isn’t me trying to broadcast my fan-mom agenda, I swear I am trying. But it is very noteworthy to see the sheer difference in enthusiasm from Yana about the latest musical vs the older ones.
For the Matsushita Era Kuromyu, Yana was tellingly very happy to see her work being adapted into stage medium. I mean, who wouldn’t be happy with such an honour? At the time she clearly expressed her glee for the creative choices of the makers, and even drew some fan-art here and there.
Then for the Furukawa Era Kuromyu, it was likewise obvious how she was incredibly happy to see her baby done true justice. In this interview with Editor Kuma he shared how Furukawa’s Sebastian was Yana’s first time seeing the monster he was always supposed to be, unlike the “vampire gentleman” image the anime gave most of the fandom. And then later Yana declared Furukawa above-canon on top of not being able to shut up during and even years after the performances.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Tango on the Campania, she even sent a HUGE bouquet with her name signed first, and only after in smaller letters “G Fantasy” (Original tweet). And for “Romeo & Juliette” she also sent one even though it had nothing to do with Kuro.
For Kuromyu 2021 - which is literally Kuro - she sent...nothing. She didn’t mention the musical outside of the run or the official announcements...
Yana IS contractually obliged to be enthusiastic about anything. However, she is also the mother of word-bender-pedantic-trash-demon; she KNOWS how language works. We have come to understand that Yana is a queeeeen of diplomacy, and that if she doesn’t actively praise something within context, there is a fair possibility she disapproves.

2021 Fanfic Year Wrap Up Meme
Number of Fics: 30 Number of Unique Fandoms: 7* (ASOIAF, Game of Thrones, Dark Tower, Harry Potter, Mighty Ducks, NP&GC1812,  Romeo and Juliet/Romeo et Juliette**) Number of Unique Pairings: 20 (repeat ships: Throbb [7], Tris/Theon [3], Severus/Evan [3], Theyne [2])*** Total Number of Words: 109,113
*Counting ASOIAF and Game of Thrones as two different fandoms because that’s kind of how I’ve been doing it when tagging and stuff. **I’m counting Shakespeare canon and RetJ musical canon as one fandom here because I often don’t make too much of a distinction between them/borrowed aspects from both. ***Only counting ships which were primarily featured as a focus of the story. Often times ships would hover in the background but weren’t counted. # Gen: 9 # Het: 6 # Slash: 19 # Fem: 3 *Some stories fall into more than one category.
# G: 1 # PG: 21 # PG-13: 7 # R: 1
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted? More, I guess, at least in terms of number of fics – I’m still kind of wow about that, although the wordcount is not that much different from last year. Where did you publish/archive your stories? AO3 with some cross-posting to Tumblr. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? I really got (back) into ASOIAF/Game of Thrones really hard this year which I wouldn’t have predicted. I had written a couple of short things for GoT before but I had always been a bit intimidated by ASOIAF, so that was definitely a surprise. Did you take any writing risks this year? Mmm, other than writing for ASOIAF, nothing that stands out too much. Do you have any writing goals for the new year? Would really like to finish a Throbb/Reyne longfic I started… What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest. God it’s actually hard sooo hard to choose between my like…top four. But probably Carry Me Home still. Okay, NOW your most popular story? Going by kudos, Mission Circumstances Story of yours most underappreciated by the universe, in your opinion? Like Northern Stars. I mean…Tris/Theon should just generally be a more popular ship! Story that could have been better?
There’s always a few, but I think Peaches is the ones I’m most regretful about it coming out not as well I would have liked. Most fun story to write? Oh I enjoyed writing quite a few! Someone Else was probably that fic this year that wrote itself (in the middle of the night, as it goes lol). Story with single sweetest moment? I have a few with fluff or sweet hurt/comfort, but ngjflsfg probably Let Them Make A Song of It or otherwise Like Northern Stars. The story that made you cry? None, this year, though Someone Else was one that really packed a punch even though I wrote it. Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story? Not this year lol. Sexiest story? When You Know (You Love Him) I guess? Hardest story to write There were a few *lolsob* Easiest story to write? See above under “most fun to write.” Most unintentionally telling story *shrug* Story you haven’t yet written, but intend to Well, I started it, but haven’t posted any part so I guess it counts – there’s a throbb/reyne/eventual poly AU that I would like to finish ;)

15 & 21 for Juliette, 1 & 17 for Digger?
Eeeeee! I love the questions, even if I’m about to be called out about Digger. Uh oh… 😳😳 thank you for the ask!
Juliette:
15-Favourite line of theirs? So far of what I have written, my favorite line of her’s is “He has a name, it’s Cosmos.” Which is said after she rescues her soon-to-be best friend from a crashed gunship, and punched Quinlan Vos in the face for insulting her men.
21-Wild card! Talk about anything to do with this character! Anything at all! When I was making Juliette I had a hard time coming up with her name because I didn’t want to do something too plain but also didn’t want to do something too out there. I settled on Juliette because of the symbolism of Romeo and Juliet. Juliette is star-crossed and while try as she might, she’ll never be able to save all her friends and even her boyfriends. Don’t worry, unlike Shakespeare’s tragedy, Juliette Trix gets somewhat of a happy ending.
Digger:
1-Favourites thing(s) about this character? That he’s easy and fun to write. He’s rarely ever gets angry towards people, he’s passionate about things, he doesn’t hide his feelings, and group hugs! Digger gives the best hugs, and ends ever mission by hugging his squad and telling them they did a good job.
17-Have you ever had a crush on this character…? Yes. Originally, Digger was meant to be just a crush of Juliette’s who passes before she can tell him, but then I did my character revamp after getting out of a sucky relationship where I was pretty much used. I fixed up Digger with lots of supportive, good boy energy and decided “I want Juliette to date him. They need some happiness before the tragedy.” (I want a boyfriend like Digger! I made him too good! 😭😭)
