I was swimming with tsireya when we heard the horns blow, it was uncommon to have newcomers here on Awa'atlu, i looked at tsireya who was already looking at me, this was new, just then we saw a few creatures flying over us, first i mistook them for tsuraks but then i saw them closely, these were different, i had an inkling what they were but i needed to see it myself, getting on a ilu, Reya and I, glided over to the shore.
As we reached the shallow waters, i dipped in, Reya following me, standing up i brushed away the hair that stuck to my neck and chest while i looked at the more bluer Na'vi than us, my eyes trailed, what looked like, the family of six, more exactly on the couple who stood in the front, their eyes were such beautiful amber color, changing every now and then in the sunlight, their hair beautifully braided with beads and trinkets, their attire had vines and ropes creatively threaded together, as i was looking them over, i made eye contact with the gorgeous woman who stood with courage and strength oozing from her, i smiled and blood rushed to my cheeks as i looked down when she gave me a slight smile back, walking towards tsireya and standing by her side, in between tonowari and her, while slapping ao'nung's shoulder when he made fun of the newcomer boy.
The atmosphere in the air was thick with tension as Ronal criticized the family roughly, they were here for uthuru, which has not been asked since years before i was born, the group of kids looked tired from the trip and so did their mother, though she was trying not to show it, Ronal then pointed out their flaws, i cringed as she raised the boy's hand who ao'nung was making fun of earlier, their father stepped in " look, look" he held his hand up, "i was born as a sky people, but now I'm Na'vi ,you can adapt." He let out an exhale "we will adapt, okay?" His statement clearly made a point, but then his wife said " my husband was toruk makto! He led our clans to victory against the sky people '' though her words were said with defense, toruk makto looked at her in retaliation, ronal's voice spiked up after that " you call this victory? Hiding among strangers? It seems eywa has turned her back on you, chosen one" i reeled back when the other woman hissed at Ronal and the tsahik did hold back either. I shared a look with tonowari, we both knew this was going too far, so he stepped in, holding a conversation with the man, i didn't hear the rest as my eyes focused on the little girl who stood with her family, while everyone was busy raising their voices, i waved at her smiling and and she waved back, taking a step away i knelt down to her height, she came forward her smile as bright as the daylight " hii, I'm y/n, what is your name little one?" She giggled and said "I'm tuktirey but you can call me tuk" but before i could respond her mother called her back, her eyes lingered on me, i backed away as i did not want to cause a scene.
Soon tonowari and Ronal accepted them, while ao'nung and tsireya were given the task to train the omaticayan kids, i was introduced to them by Ronal , walking beside tsireya with a basket of fruits and fishes in my hand as we showed them the way towards their mauri, tuk was bouncing on the pathway smiling in her own little world, neytiri and Jake , which i found out to be their names, walked behind us, i stopped in front of the empty mauri that faced a beautiful section of the sea, letting the couple enter i heard Jake say "this is nice? Yeah?" Followed by a sickening thump when neytiri let the mats in her arms fall down, i quickly put down the basket, ushering tsireya out with me to give the family some alone time to adjust to the new surroundings.
»»————- ✼ ————-««
It's been a few days after the sully's arrived, tsireya and ao'nung were teaching their kids, i sat in the open common patch, where all the kids shuffled and talked, i taught the metkayina kids the sign language, so when they get into water one day for longer period, their communication can be better, but not only was i their teacher, i was the clan garment weaver as well, as the noise of the children got louder , i shushed them all, their doe eyes wide when they were caught, i was about to start talking when i saw movement behind the kids, Ronal, neytiri and tuk walked towards me, i got up warning the seated kids to behave i walked to them.
"Y/n, ma tsmuke, i need you to add another pupil to your class" ronal said putting a gentle hand on tuk's shoulder, the girl looked at me with the same sunshine smile, i smiled back holding out my hand for her , she happily took it, i nodded at Ronal, giving me a small smile like she knew something i didn't, she left, i shook that out of my head and looked at neytiri " don't worry, tuk will be safe here, I'm happy you decided to put her in my care" she nodded giving me a curt thank you and told me Jake would came take tuk after the class before leaving, i picked up tuk in my arms and took her to introduce her to the class.
After hours of laughter and teaching them some signs they could fit and remember in their little brains, i waited for each and every parent to come pick their kid up, everyone left except tuk, who was now dozing off in my arms, Jake still hasn't come yet, it was getting dark now so i decided why now drop tuk off myself? Making my way to their pod, i knocked on the entrance circle, neytiri's head whipped towards me, i waved at her, motioning to a fast asleep tuk in my arms, lo'ak and kiri were in a corner discussing something but stopped when they saw me, neytiri stood up , standing infront of me she asked in a soft voice "didn't Jake come to take her?" I adjusted my hold on tuk as i said "no, he didn't, maybe he must have been stuck somewhere and couldn't come, but it's okay, it was no problem for me to bring her" and for the first time from the moment she has been here, i saw her smile, a real smile , with her head tilting to the side slightly, and in that second, she looked gorgeous but i stopped myself, what was i thinking ?she has a mate, mentally slapping myself i moved to hand tuk to her but this girl was not ready to leave my neck, i awkwardly looked at the woman in front of me but she took a step back motioning me to step in, not wasting any time i walked in, trying hard to gently lower tuk onto the hammock and not to wake her up, straightening up i turned to look at neytiri who sat near the fire again, i was about to bid my goodbyes but she started before me " we'll be happy if you could stay with us for dinner, that is if you want to and thank you for bringing tuk back" i was seconds away from refusing but then thought about the lone dinner with no one to talk to back at my own mauri, atleast I'll not be so lonely tonight and agreed.
Jake was surprised to see me when he got back but before he could say anything, Neytiri talked his ears off about not going to pick up tuk and that I had to carry her all the way. I did not get in between , I valued my life more. Neteyam sat by my side, giving me a sheepish smile at their bickering parents, neytiri huffed at him, throwing her hands up at her mate's excuses, she made her way over to my side sitting down and serving me the food, Jake sat in front of me giving me an apologetic smile, i just chuckled under my breath at his tries to please neytiri.
The dinner with them was one of the best I had in years. Tuk woke up in the middle of it and no one was happier to see me in this world than she was. Immediately she sat with me, giving my introduction to everyone. Especially to her sister kiri, who was talking to me earlier about how to weave seashell necklaces, as she was having some trouble with hers and i was more than happy to help her, neteyam and lo'ak were busy bombarding me with questions about the sign language, though i tried to answer them all but they had way more to learn. when the dinner was nearing the end and my time to go home came closer, something in my heart panged, it looked like Jake and neytiri felt the same but i could be wrong and it's just my thoughts, i hugged each of them, giving tuk the extra longest as i departed, both the adults lips were pressed in a thin line, even if no words were said, feelings were changed that night.
I laid in my hammock, staring at the ceiling of my pod, the time of dinner played again and again in my mind, did neytiri really brush her hand against my cheek during the dinner or was it nothing? Was Jake really staring at me all that time or was it just me? My mind was in chaos, I was falling for a mated pair , what is wrong with me? I groaned, turning on my stomach and buried my head into the pillow, i hated this feeling but then again loved it more than life itself.
»»————- ✼ ————-««
It's been weeks after the dinner and now it's a regular occurrence, I'd drop tuk at their pod and stay for dinner like it was all normal while i died a little every time i saw them, the longing increasing more and more, right now i sat with neytiri as i taught her how to weave a seashell and pearl top, just when horns blared across Awa'atlu signaling the return of the tulkuns, the return of my spirit brother, i dropped all my work and grabbed neytiri's wrist tugging her along, i said in a hurried tone " come on, my spirit brother is here, i need you to meet him!" We met Jake on the way along, they dived in behind me, i connected my queue with an ilu bringing Jake behind me as neytiri bonded with another, my eyes roamed to see a familiar tattooed tulkun, meeting his eye i had to suppress a giddy giggle that was about to escape me, hugging his side i said " it's so nice to see you again brother, i have so much to tell you, and about someone i met, well two people to be exact but you get my point!?" I signed as fast as i could, his chuckle reverberated in the water, neytiri and Jake watched in fascination, i motioned them to come closer and they did, taking support of his fin, i introduced them to my spirit brother, while he side eyed me, giving a all knowing look, i just rolled my eyes at him.
Jake and neytiri were thrilled to Meet y/t/n, plus the Olo'eyktan announced a celebration in return of the tulkuns, i dressed in the best pieces i made, and helped Ronal, neytiri, kiri , tuk and tsireya get ready as well, tsireya being my baby i gave her the top i was working on, and it looked gorgeous on her, at least now the forest boy's attention would be all on her, but it's not that his attention wavers from her anyway. I smiled walking out of my pod, after getting everyone ready, I was now late for the celebration myself and no one even waited for me…..as usual, i sighed.
The celebration was at its peak, drinks were being passed, couples danced together near the fire it, i went near the drink stand, the liquor glinted in the fire light, i sat on a log that was tucked into a corner, enjoying the songs bobbing my head to the tune, but soon enough my eyes trained onto the couple who stood up from the crowd automatically, their azure skin reflecting the soft shades of oranges so beautifully, their bright honey eyes looked ablaze in the moment, neytiri's top, that i gave her, accentuated her looks even more, their smiles making my heart flutter, just then Jake caught me staring, giving him a hurried smile i looked down at my drink swirling it in the shell glass, this was now getting worse, if this didn't stop soon i knew I'd get hurt, i get up to go for a walk as my mind would not stop reeling back to them. as i was about to walk out a hand rested on my shoulder , i jumped turning back only to be met with a face i was yearning to see but was too afraid to, Jake smiled, it was like a warm trickle of light on my skin, and neytiri stood beside him, she came forward taking my hand in hers, at this point my heart was racing faster than a tsurak on hunt, Jake leaned forward grabbing my other hand and i looked at them wide eyes, mouth agape, is this really happening? Are they BOTH choosing me? But before getting the answers to my questions, lo'ak popped up and we all jumped apart, the boy stopped in his track, looking at his parents then as me, as both jake and neytiri held my hands, i immediately wringed my hands out of theirs, looking at lo'ak as heat rushed to my face , lo'ak raised an eyebrow at me and i chuckled nervously asking " what do you want lo'ak? Is there any problem?" He still looked skeptically between the three of us as he replied " yeah, i was looking for you , y/n, i wanted to ask how you made that armband for neteyam, i want one like that too" I sighed in relief ushering him to come with me, i looked behind that them, both of them having a sly smile that i knew the answers to all my questions were giving without uttering a word. The whole night after that was too hot even when the breeze was chilly.
»»————- ✼ ————-««
I sat with all the sully's laughing at something Jake said, neytiri lightly hit Jake on his arm, tuk snuggled in my arms and lo'ak leaning on me, as i patted his head, neteyam sat with neytiri, and kiri's head rested on Jake's lap as she was napping, i was being consumed by this family and i had no problem with it at all, Jake looked at me, his ears up, tail swaying side to side and i blushed under his gaze, neytiri wasn't any less, there was something going on between us, even the kids could sense it but we haven't given this "situation" a name , yet, we all knew what we wanted but still kept quiet for some reason, by now i practically live with them, I'm at their house almost all the time, even at night now i slept in their pod, it felt more normal than sleeping in my own mauri.
Brushing kiri's hair, I applied the oil to her scalp, massaging it gently, pressing on the point to make it enjoyable and she quite literally melted beneath my hands "do you like it?" She let out a loud sigh and said " like it? This is the best massage I've ever gotten, from now on will you, please, always do my hair?" I laughed at her request " but your mom does a better work than me" , "noooooo, she's good but you do it different, please please please, don't tell mom though" we both giggled at it but in the end i agreed, just then neteyam walked in, he looked at us, raising an eyebrow at kiri is said " i thought only mom could do your hair, huh?" Kiri just huffed and replied " ohh yeah, just try it and then you'll understand bro, her massages are like no other" her eyes closing, clearly enjoying the massage, so neteyam did exactly what she said, pushing her out of the way he sat in front me, kiri exclaimed loudly at being pushed as well as being interrupted in her massage " HEY! It was my turn, get up you skxwang" neteyam just smirked at his sister not budging when she tried to push him, in the end i had to break the fight, promising kiri I'll give her more massages later, while neteyam sat smugly, it was funny seeing the siblings bicker but it was homely like this, i unbraided his hair, brushing them back and carefully applying the oils, he let out a long sigh as he leaned back a little, i smiled he was liking it and that's a good sign "kiri was so true for this, you really do it different, ah" after the massage i rebraided his hair nicely, matching the metkayina style and adding the beads of his choice, all the while have good chats, the time well spent after he was done, he went to flaunt it to lo'ak on who did his hair today, shaking my head, i got up , arms aching but still content they were happy, i walked into the sully tent, meeting Jake i sat beside him, exhausted leaning on him, he grabbed my hand, caressing his thumb over my knuckles "long day?" I shook my head "no, it was a fun day!" I said, smiling at him.

I sat roasting a fish on the fire, as Jake was cutting fruits and neytiri was taking out the plates to eat, the kids were out swimming and training with tsireya and ao'nung, i laughed as Jake tickled my side suddenly and neytiri grumbled "i dealt with this for 15 years, eywa know how" at that even jake bursted out laughing, but my laughter died down when i saw a very serious looking tonowari walking towards our mauri, Jake and tiri noticed as well, and what tonowari said next made goosebumps rise throughout my body.
The other clans were being tortured for information but due to one word from wari they haven't revealed Jake yet but everyone knew this won't last long, my appetite evaporating as i looked worried at neytiri, she just placed a hand on my shoulder, rubbing the spot for reassurance, i let out a breath , sending a prayer to eywa for our safety, we thanked tonowari, now thinking about what we're going to do next, but something in the back of my mind nagged at me that something's bad is going to happen….and i was not ready for it
»»————- ✼ ————-««
I rode on a ilu, beside Jake and neytiri who were seated on Jake's tsurak, my heart shattering in a million pieces as Ronal wailed for her now dead spirit sister, her roa, who just bared her first babe, who also now layed dead by his mother, tears streamed my face, sobs wracked my body as the memories of Ronal showing me to her sister for the first time, this should not have happened, those demons did this, rage kindled in my chest but my sorrow was too great, i swam besides Ronal, who hugged me instantly, ohh how excited she was to show her newborn to her sister, they were going to be mother's together, now she'll never get the chance too, i held her close to me, this was not how it was supposed to be.
The clan screamed and shouted for revenge on the sky demons, they were killing our tulkuns, this will not go without consequence, i stood beside neytiri, my heart thumped inside it's cage, i grabbed her arm in fear, the people raging towards Jake, blaming him for all this, my heart panged for Jake, he hopped onto the elevated rock and spoke "listen, you have to tell the tulkuns, to go away, far away as possible" but Ronal hissed at him lunging forward, i had to get in between to stop her, she hissed again before saying "you live with us and still haven't learnt anything!" I cringed back but held my ground, looking back at Jake he said the next best thing he could think of, grabbing the red tracker he raised it above his head, showing it to everyone "tell your tulkuns, if this was attacked on them, then swim away fast! Tell me and I'll come deactivate it" everyone looked unconvinced and i shouted at them to get them moving " go, move, tell every tulkun you come across, now!" They grabbed their weapons and dived into the waters, i knew a war was brewing deep in the sea, everything weighed on me, my knees gave out and Jake caught me, i held onto him for dear life, neytiri came closer hugging us both and i melted between them, and for the first time after whatever this is between us started neytiri kissed me, on the lips, i was surprised but kissed back in seconds, as we pulled back Jake groaned "heyy i wanted the first kiss with her!" Neytiri just smirked and said "looks like you lost, ma' Jake" with that she kissed me again but Jake got in between, this time he kissed me and i couldn't be more happier, we still stood in the communal tent, but none of us cared one bit, i leaned on both of them as their arms enveloped me, my mind going silent as no unwanted thoughts plagued my mind for now.
I packed my bags for later, they both asked me to come live with them and i couldn't be more happier, the smile that started from the kiss still lingered on my face, i was shaken out of my thoughts when tsireya burst into my mauri, tears ran down her cheeks and she barely stuttered the words out " it's lo'ak, he's going to tell payakan, come we have to go with him" dropping everything i sprinted with her towards the shore, we swam towards the three brothers rock, where neteyam, lo'ak , tuk, ao'nung and rotxo were pulling out the tracker from payakan, my eyes widened at the scene, "ohh no, no no no" they were targeting payakan, i looked around to see any sign of the sky demons, relieved when none in the sight i got onto payakan's fin, and helped tug the tracker out, and as if lo'ak saw me for the first time he shouted even if he was seated beside me "mama, what are you doing here?!" And my work stopped as I looked at him, wide eyed, did he just call me mama? If i wasn't fighting to save this tulkuns life I'd probably hug him and cry but right now all i did was "yes, listen to me lo'ak, call your parents right now, we do not have much time, the hunters will be here any minute" he nodded not even registering the fact that he called mama, i got back in pulling the tracker, finally after so many tries that piece of metal was pulled out, just when the demon ship rounded the corner.
I took the tracker from neteyam, yelling at them to scatter as i got onto my ilu, swimming away, i look back and some kind of ships following , i threw the tracker away rounding about when one of the ships caught my ilu's fin and i was thrown over, i wanted to scream but stopped, trying to swim away but the other ship was catching up to me, just as i thought i was caught my wrist was pulled, taking my whole body with it, lo'ak smile down at me as tsireya pulled me closer onto the ilu, the ships still chased us, weaving into the long seaweeds, the machines got stuck, leaving our ilu we swam towards plant that created an air pocket inside it, when i broke to water surface, i was surprised to see tuk there, gasping for air i held tuk against me, we calmed down, catching up on air, we had to get out of here soon, so taking in a deep breath we got out, swimming towards the seaweed but our path was blocked as some of the weird shaped machine shot out a net trap, that captured me, tsireya and tuk, lo'ak got out somehow but held on to the net as we were pulled out of the water, tuk latched onto me crying in my neck, my brain was distrort on what was happening but i held on.
The net was thrown onto the ship, our bodies hitting the hard metal with a thud, i groaned , the net was opened and someone ripped tuk out of my arms as i screamed and thrashed to get her back, fear gripping my heart, another one of the soldier wrapped his hand around the nape of my neck, pressing my cheek on the cold metal, my wrists were cuffed behind my back, right after i was dragged to the railing and strapped to it, even after tugging it hard it wouldn't budge, lo'ak was on my left, tsireya beside him while tuk was on my right, fat tears rolled down her face, i tried to comfort her but couldn't do much. To my surprise one of the men grabbed my face making me look at him, he leaned down and tuk screamed " MAMA!! Leave her alone, please" the demon Na'vi who held my face, tilted his head and said in a low voice " looks like sully got himself another blue bitch" he chuckled and so did the others, lo'ak bared his teeth at him, tsireya and tuk crying out when a brut pulled at their queues. The demon who held my face shoved me and lo'ak hissed at him, but the man ripped the transmitter from lo'ak's neck, speaking into it " Jake, tell your friends to stand down. If you want your kids and wife back, you come out alone. You know better than to test my resolve" he points a gun at my head " I took you under my wing, Jake. You betrayed me. You killed your own. Good men, good women. I will not hesitate to execute your bitch" my breath wavered, eyes jumping from him to lo'ak, fear evident in his eyes, i couldn't catch what Jake said but i prayed he would take a good decision rather than a hasty one.
I looked at the horizon, plenty of Na'vi floated on the water and saw Jake coming closer, my heart dropped, he was giving himself up, i tried to pull away but the demon hold my queue yanked me back and a scream erupted from my throat at the pain, i inhaled deeply praying to eywa for his safety, absorbed in my thoughts i didn't see payakan coming up, the splash of cold water brought me out of my prayers, payakan fell on the ships deck, slapping of several sky demons with is fin while crushing many of them beneath him, lo'ak whooped for him, celebrating in the moment, payakan slid down from the edge falling back into the water, but before i could say anything the ship started to move forward picking up speed, it didn't stop even when we approached a rock Island, the collision shook the whole ship as we were lifted up into the air, slamming down my head hit the railing, hard, my vision blurred for a moment and pain bloomed at the back of my head but i didn't say anything, looking around frantically, i saw tuk pressed against the cold deck, tsireya holding onto the bars for dear life and lo'ak trying to get a grip on the rod, sitting up straight, i saw neteyam bolting up onto the ship, running towards us he cuts up tuk's binds, then tsireya's and mine, lastly lo'ak's, i pull tuk to my chest, standing up, i lost my balance but straighten up quickly, pulling tuk and tsireya with me, i look back at neteyam and lo'ak who didn't follow me " c'mon we have to get out of here" lo'ak hesitated but said " we have to save spider, we can't leave him here" neteyam looked conflicted, sighing, i had to get tuk to safety and as far away as possible, so i spoke " be careful please, if you do not find him, turn around, okay? I do not want you two to get hurt, am I clear?" They both nodded quickly running to the hallway.
I swam with tuk and tsireya when the latter stopped me, her voice barely above a whisper "y/n, you are bleeding" i shushed her, nodding, it wasn't much, i just had to get through this, it can be taken care of later, we met kiri inbetween, i heaved a sigh of relief hugging her, but there was no time , just as we started to swim in the other direction, a roar boomed above us, two big talons grabbed kiri, pulling her up as she screamed for the rider to let go but to no avail, they took her to the ship, tuk pulled my hand, i looked at her, she signed towards the ships pulling me "baby we can't go there" , my mind frantic, i had to save kiri life but i can't risk tuk's as well, she shook her head " sully's stick together" so we swam to the ship.
we popped above the water and hauled ourselves up, crawling around until we saw kiri bound to the railing of a pool, we ran towards her, trying our best to free her but we were too late as the demon walked towards us, he pushed tsireya into the pool, i screamed but as quickly as i blinked he shoved me down and his men bound me and tuk besides kiri, tuk wailed " i can't believe I'm tied up again!" He looked at his soldiers, huffing he said "we can still get this done" and one of them replied with a "hell yeah" and We waited for a long time with bated breath,before the man who held a gun at me earlier spoke " Did you hear me corporal , same deal as before, you for them" he was talking to Jake, i knew it, he walked around us "I need the answers Jake or there's gonna be consequences" i couldn't hear anything what Jake replied with , i sighed inwardly, exhaustion was creeping in but i fought it, the blue demon walked towards his attendees "Let's get this guy, that's what we came here for" clicking his gun ready.
he walked towards us, pointing the gun out, he looked through the lens for a couple of seconds before he said " hold fire" they all looked around here and there searching for Jake, by the look on the sky demons face i knew he lost sight of him too, he swirled around and spoke into the mic after a while "Talk to me corporal, the ship's going down and your girls with it, only one way to keep 'em safe" a few minutes of silence before a blast was heard, the ship groaned at the explosion, tillting down, people were screaming and running everywhere, minute by minute people were being killed, then like a ray of hope i heard Jake's voice, but the demon crouched in front of us to trap Jake, i screamed at the man in front of me " THEY'RE COMING FOR YOU!" and tuk hissed at him.
I heard neytiri's screams from a distance, my head turned in that direction, heart dropping to the floor but before i could react, a hand clamped on my mouth as he undid my cuff from the railing, pulling me back against the metal wall so we couldn't be seen, i tried to scream but they were muffled by the hand on my mouth, he leaned down to my ear and whispered " one more sound out of you mouth and your pretty little lover won't be alive" i stopped thrashing against him as he held a knife to my throat, i saw Jake rescuing tuk and kiri, he pushed me forward , walking into Jake's eyesight, knife still held against my neck, Jake and tuk walked forward but he stopped tuk as she cried "mamaa" Jake put out his arm, he looked between me and the man who held me " kill him Jake" the demon pressed the knife even harder drawing in blood as i recoiled, " c'mon sully, weapons down" quatrich threw a orange band at him " cuff yourself, Do IT!"
Jake grunted, he threw his axe and gun away , bending down to pick up the band, " you son of bitch" Jake bit back, "not one step corporal" my blood coated the knife now, burning the place where it rested against my neck, tuk and kiri were behind Jake, and i didn't not see neytiri come up behind us and so didn't quaritch, she pounced out gripping a boy holding a knife against his throat, "you think i care about that boy? We're not even the same species" quaritch said, she tilted her head, lips pressed into a thin like as she spoke " a son for a son" dragged the blade up, plummeting it down towards the boy's chest with a yell, quaritch screamed "No, NOo" taking the knife from my neck and holding it up, i yelled at the sensation, letting me go Jake pulled me behind him, neytiri let go of the boy and hissed viciously, she towards us and tuk pulled her back gently, we all backed away slowly.
the ship still sank down second by second, quaritch stayed back but called out to Jake " I'm coming back for you, when i do, I'll kill you and your whole family" baring his teeth, Jake stopped in his track looking at back at quaritch "let's get this over with" and he pounced on to quaritch, i propelled forward to stop him but neytiri pulled me back, shaking her head, we dived into the water, swimming away but there was an oil spill and it caught on fire due to the blast, making us stop in our way out, the human boy from earlier, spider, yelled to turn around towards the ship, neytiri grabbed my arm as we swam back, getting onto the ship, i pushed kiri forward to go ahead of me, neytiri was with tuk, i turned back to her, i went to grab tuk but her foot slipped and she fell into the doorway, my heart lurked and i went in after her, neytiri right behind me.
I fell onto my side the water cushioning my fall a little but i didn't care, i grabbed tuk and neytiri was there beside me, i ushered tuk to go forward , we ran to the door in front, neytiri tried to open it, water was trickled our calfs, finally after a hard pull she opened it, the water pumping us forward, our yells and shouts muffled by the water, we got into a room with lots of tables, the ship was turning so we had to climb up them, i pulled tuk up by her hand, pushing her up to neytiri, we got to a closed door again, water up to our waist now, neytiri struggled to open it, i stood beside her and pulled the door with her, with all my might, finally the door gave away, quickly letting tuk in, me and neytiri swam in after her and the door slammed shut with the pressure.
i looked ahead but there was no other way, water was filling up, neytiri pulled me and tuk closer to her and we stood there, the wound was throbbing and being tossed around while coming here was taking a toll on me now, my head felt light, vision blurred, my hand latching onto neytiri's, she looked at me worried but i couldn't even explain what was happening, tuk answered for me " she hit her head on the bars, when we were on the ship, there was blood coming out too" now neytiri was worried sick, i shook my head trying to change the subject " it's okay, I'm fine, it was nothing" but she looked skeptical, there was nothing she could do either, there was no way out , i leaned on her " stay close to me please" time passed agonizingly slow, the pain in the back of my head now slowly spreading down my back and arms, water levels were rising fast, the ship sinking down faster, we were trapped and there was no way of getting out.
i looked at neytiri, all hopes of my survival leaving and i said those words before it's too late "ne- neytiri, this is not how i wanted to say it but ole ngati kameie, i see you and Jake, I've never known love before you two came in my life, you were the ember in my darkness, the light that led me to meet you, if this is the time we get in this lifetime, then all my hardships were worth it, you both were my light in the darkness that lead me to love you, if this is the only time I'll get to spend with you, than, would not hesitate to do it all over again " i smiled at her, tears spilled down her face , she placed a hand on my cheek wiping my own tears with her thumb, tuk wrapped her arms around my torso " you're going to be okay mama, i want you with me" new tears formed in my eyes, i leaned down kissing her forehead, neytiri spoke after a while " you're going to be fine yawne, we'll get out of this and you will live with us, do not lose hope now when we are so close, ole ngati kameie ma' y/n but please do not leave me, not now" she pressed her forehead against mine, i savored this moment, feeling every bit of it, exhaustion made its way but i fought back.
the water was now till our necks, i tried my best to keep tuk afloat as well, it was getting harder to breath, the lights went out a while ago, it was pitch black, so when a golden light flooded the place we all turned to the source of it, golden fishes swam in the water we stood in and then popped in kiri's head, i laughed in relief pulling her in for a hug, oh I've never been happier, we are going to be saved at last, she pulled back, taking the air giving creature off her back and put it on my back, connecting my queue to it, and surely air rushed to my lungs, i nodded, they all took a deep breath and Kiri lead us out, neytiri held my hand all the time while the other was in tuk's, after weaving through doors and passages we finally got out, seeing the surface both neytiri and kiri pulled me up and we all broke the surface and i gasped for air, i looked around and saw payakan, with Jake and lo'ak on his fin, we all swam to them, more like neytiri dragged me to them " ma' Jake - ma' Jake!" We both said in sync and he pulled us for a hug, i was hauled onto payakan's fin, and finally i let myself go, as i lost my fight against exhaustion, my head falling onto Jake's shoulder, eyes rolling to the back of my head, i pass of completely.
»»————- ✼ ————-««
I open my eyes but the blinding bright sunlight stopped me, squinting, i looked around me, neytiri sat beside me and i looked up at her, memories of war flashed through my mind, me, neytiri and tuk being stuck, kiri coming to save us, me passing out on payakan and i bolted upwards, sitting up but the pain in my back took over and i cried out, neytiri immediately held me close, i didn't even notice Jake until was was beside me as well, checking on my bandages, my breathe uneven and labored, everything felt like it was on fire, every nerve in my body ablaze, i sighed in her neck, getting a grip on myself i leaned back, meeting their faces that held the brightest smile I've ever seen, i laughed lightly, then they started laughing and in the end we all laughed together, at what? I don't know, but I'm glad the great mother deemed me worthy to hear it again.
The celebration was full blown at its highest note, people danced in the joy of our victory, elders sang the most treasured songs in the name of another achievement, my heart swelled as i saw tsireya and lo'ak dancing together, i sat with Jake and neytiri, in between them while they both crush me beneath their body weight, as the party progressed, Jake took us both out for a walk, it's been a week since the war, we mourned the fallen now we must move past it, celebrate a new phase, i walked on the crunchy sand, the moonlight illuminating the bioluminescent dots on our bodies, Jake's tail wrapped around my thigh, while neytiri held my hand in her's, fingers intertwined, we got to a grassy part of Awa'atlu, where the sea was still visible, it was where the forest met the sea, the plants and surroundings glowing, it looked magnificent, we sat down on the soft grass, the silence comfortable as we laid there, under the blanket of stars, but it was disturbed when Jake and neytiri sat up, i looked at them confused, they helped me sit up and Jake cleared his throat and i stared at him " umm i know, this is long over due now, hmm i- will you-" but neytiri completed the sentence for him "will you do the honour and make us happy by agreeing to be our mate, tiyawn?" Jake nodded hurriedly, blood rushed to my face as it heated, not much as it was already hot whenever I was with them, i nodded smiling " yes, i loved to be" right after i said it, they attacked me with a hug as we fell down again on the grass, both of them peppering my face and neck with kisses as i giggled between them, soon Jake brought his queue in front of him, and so did neytiri joining hers, my mind literally dancing i brought mine coiling around both of theirs, the tides of emotions washed over me, as i looked at them mesmerized, their love for me wafting over to my side, seconds later i was huddled in their arms, warm and protected, this is all i ever wanted and that's all i got, i didn't know how much time went by at the celebration but as i saw the first rays of sunlight illuminating the dark sky, i knew this was eywa's way of telling me that this was it, this was my share of the love and i couldn't be more happy about it.

PANDORA, 2169
Jake didn't want to waste a second of time. After General Frances Ardmore sent out a transmission to the natives of Pandora, warning the Na'vi and humans occupying Hell's Gate to surrender the former RDA facility before her arrival, he made sure to abandon it... but not before planting a few bugs.
Listening devices and motion alarms were placed, then Toruk Makto ordered the Na'vi and all humans who live among them to retreat to the forests, and just in time, too. A week later, one of the motion alarms pings and Norm informs Jake immediately. The two launch a small war party and swarm their former headquarters, attacking the RDA retrieval team Ardmore had sent out to inspect Hell's Gate. The foot soldiers were overwhelmed within minutes, and Jake covers Norm -who was using his human form- and Max while the two go through the new bit of technology provided while the other Na'vi and human warriors keep the RDA hostages contained.
Jake crouches until he can fit into the doorway of the control room, assault rifle nestled in his arms, "Think you can do this?"
"Of course not!" Norm snapped, his attitude spiking as he and Max frantically look through the database, "I told you I'm not a hacker, Jake--"
"Alright--"
"--Do you think every scientist has to go through a Hacker Course in the Academy of Code in the Land of Computers just to get into Yale?" Spellman asked sarcastically.
"Got it," Max exclaims without looking away from the screen, "And yes, Norm, that's exactly what happens."
"Dick," Norm muttered, running over to hover over one of Max's shoulders while Jake hovers over both of them in size.
"I'm impressed," Max mentions while looking through the database, "Everything is neat, tidy, brand new--"
"Don't be getting any bright ideas," Jake muttered, one of his dreadlocks moving down his shoulder.
"I'm just saying, though I can easily tell they weren't expecting someone on this moon to be capable of hacking into their data files. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that they underestimate us. No firewall, no password, not even cookies. Should be easy to download as much intel as we want, but only within that small window before the RDA react and come running when they realize what we're doing."
"Let's start with an inventory count," Jake takes a breath into his oxygen mask, "How many guns and ships are we looking at?"
"Ten shuttles, easily. No telling what each of them carries. Let's see. Missile batteries, gun emplacements. Armed to the teeth. Uh..." Before he could look further, the computer screen freezes and reboots, "Shit."
"What was that?" Norm asked.
"They caught us in their systems. They shut me out."
Jake grits his teeth and his gun, "Max, get back in there."
"I can't!"
"Try! And when you get back in, try and at least download any information they got on Ardmore and what she's planning before the system shuts down again. Forget the weaponry."
Max huffs, anxiously blinking away the sweat dripping down his forehead and fogging up his glasses. He furiously works as the three men start shuffling nervously, man and Na'vi alike. The computer makes a new sound and Max smiles brightly, "I got it, I got it! 'System is back up and running!"
Jake huffs out a bit of air before pressing into his throat microphone, "Alright, people, we got five minutes before the RDA realizes Hell's Gate is back online and responds. Let's go, let's go!"
Max begins to download files under titles he thinks are important. He catches names like Ardmore, Na'vi, Bridgehead, and Avatar. Out of curiosity, he clicks the last one and a name pops up, one that Max has to read over and over again before he grasps it, "Jake... does the name Makayla Sully ring a bell?"
Jake felt as though someone had just punched him in the gut, spinning back toward Max and the computer, "What did you just say?"
Max transfers the information from the computer screen and onto his datapad with just his hand motion and a flick of the wrist. He reads the name out loud again before Jake crotches over his and snatches the tablet from his hands, "Gimme that."
The former human now olo'eykan nearly stood to full height, forgetting he was too big for a human-made compound, and bonked his head. He grimaced and his eyes trail over the data file, reading it once, twice, the name sticking to the forefront of his mind for the first time in years. A picture attached to the file draws out his reaction, his breath was nearly taken away, "Holy shit."
"Relative?" Max asked.
Norm looked at the name from the original computer screen and noticed the picture attached to it, eyes growing comically wide, "Oh, shit. That's his sister."
Max looked between Jake and Norm, eyes wide in shock and sympathy while Norm read the file out loud, "'Corporal Makayla Sully. Avatar driver.' You know, Tom mentioned something about his sister showing interest in joining the Marine Corps. She might be here because of you."
He says this last part to Jake and immediately begins to sputter and backtrack when Jake's ears lowered, "I-I-I mean-! Not that it's your fault or anything--"
"Gunships inbound!" A voice is heard over the radio, warning the three men in the control room.
"Shit, they're early!" Max proclaims while grabbing the datapad from Jake along with the rest of their things.
His shock now shattered, the marine part of Jake takes over and he grabs his assault rifle again, "Go, get outta here!"
He lets Norm and Max run out in front of him while they frantically pull their exo-masks and packs on. Jake takes up the rear and together they run out of the Hell's Gate facility. Outside, other Na'vi and humans await them, calling and whooping out in warning at the sounds of gunship blades coming from a distance. Jake hears the familiar echo of Neytiri's call and he runs in that direction, finding his ikran waiting for him alongside his mate and her mount. Jake forms the tsaheylu and jumps up onto Bob's back, waiting until he's sure Max and Norm have jumped into their respective gunship before shouting the order to leave and scatter, instructing his people in the radio to rendevous to make sure no one was followed before returning home. The entire way back, his mind was troubled, clouded, and angry, the name and picture still haunting the forefront of his mind.

BRIDGEHEAD CITY, RDA STRONGHOLD
She woke up that morning with a headache, feeling uncomfortable pressure behind her eyes and forcing her to close them again.
But Makayla didn't want to close them. She didn't want to go back to her dream, the one she had been having for a while now, even in her cryosleep. After waking from that hibernation, they had told her that it wasn't possible. You can't dream in cryosleep. She decided not to question it further, afraid that some doctor would find her mentally unwell and send her back to Earth when she had only just arrived on Pandora. So Kayla kept her mouth shut, never mentioning the ocean waves she remembered flying over in her dream, bluer and cleaner than she had ever seen back home.
The woman stood up and got ready for the day, alone and basking in the silence of her one-bedroom quarters stationed in Bridgehead City. Gelling her hair back to fit into a bun and donning her uniform, she tucks her tank top into her standard-issue army-style pants and combat boots before throwing over her jacket. Grabbing her exopack and spare, she headed out into this new world, reporting to the control room of this vastly growing city.
No one looked up from their duties when she entered the control room, but she looked on and made a beeline for the person she was meant to report to, keeping her posture stiff and back straight when she stood behind another woman in uniform, saluting her in respect, "General Ardmore."
An older, blonde-haired woman, hiding said hair under a hat turned at her name, hands behind her back while nodding down to the younger woman, "Corporal Sully. How was your beauty sleep?"
"Well rested and ready to go, ma'am."
"Excellent. Right this way."
Moving from the control room, Ardmore leads her new recruit into the bio-lab, crossing over to an amino tank, tapping the glass, and turning back to address the corporal, "So this is your vehicle here."
Makayla stepped forward, staring into the tank and inspecting her new ride. She paused, nearly stunned at the floating Na'vi-looking woman in the tank. The creature's eyes were closed, frowning, curled around herself like a fetus in the womb, but still obviously much taller than her human counterpart. She twitched occasionally, but otherwise never acknowledged her avatar driver's presence. Makayla refrained from touching the glass but stood in awe while inspecting the avatar's face. Pale blue skin with darker blue stripes, thin, dark eyebrows, a small flat nose, and long ears pinned to her skull. Makayla had the urge to touch her own cheekbones and small lips when looking at what was essentially a reflection. She recognized certain features on the avatar that was definitely hers whenever she looked into a mirror, astonished at how well-designed her Na'vi body looked to mirror her human self.
Ardmore didn't appear to notice Makayla's amazement, droning on while slowly swarming the tank, inspecting the creature inside with an upturned nose, "She's not much but it'll be passable. You've read up on avatar training, have you?"
Kayla's spell is broken and she straightens her posture, looking dutifully ahead and not at her avatar, "Yes, ma'am. Enough to know the controls."
"Good. Have you logged in time on the simulator?"
"Yes, though not as much as I wish I could. I still get nauseous."
Ardmore nods, "Time and gravity are different here, Corporal. From what I hear, it'll help with the brain link. Now I know I said when I first recruited you that this would be a simple in-and-out extraction, but things have changed and now the real test is whether or not you can adapt to that."
Kayla keeps her eyes forward despite wanting to show the general her determination, "I can adapt to anything you throw at me, General."
"I like to hear it." Ardmore moves her hand to pat Makayla's arm almost robotically, but the corporal took the hint and followed the general back outside, never daring to look back at her avatar. After instructing her recruit to follow suit and throw on an exopack, the two women step outside, casually strolling together on the catwalk standing high above the city. Ardmore points out to the jungle far beyond the dry landscape circling around the city, "Now, with the plan to bring the majority of humanity here, I need soldiers out there learning to adapt and become experts in this new world we intend to call home. Unfortunately, this atmosphere and environment aren't really friendly to our kind, hence why we formed the Kill Zone."
"The Kill Zone?"
"It's what that barren two-mile-wide field is. It surrounds the city to keep the native lifeforms at a safe distance. Everything here-- the plants, the animals, they want to kill us. So for now, we use the Kill Zone to keep them away and regularly treat it with herbicides to keep anything from growing."
"And to keep anything from attacking?"
"That's what the automated weapons surrounding the city wall are for, Corporal. We're not taking any chances, but we can't be in the defensive position forever. Eventually, we'll have to fight back. With the entire flora and fauna of this moon wanting to attack us, we need to compromise it. Hence why we brought back the Avatar Program. We need avatar soldiers whose DNA will not trigger this moon's immune response. With new soldiers trained for the most hostile environments, we believe that if we link them with these avatars, we can assess and observe whether or not it will be easy for normal civilians to take on avatars."
Kayla's stone expression slips temporarily, eyes widening for a fraction of a second, "You want everyone to have an avatar eventually?"
Ardmore shrugs while tapping on the glass of her mask, "Humanity can't adapt overnight. If we want this place to be our new home, we'll need to be able to breathe the air and hunt and gather resources safely. Unfortunately, it is unclear how long a human could possibly link to their avatar before they have to disconnect. That is where you come in. We'll be testing this experiment through you. Any questions?"
"Just one, General." She hesitates as Ardmore turns to her, but Kayla blinks, rolls her lips, and says it anyway, "My brother's remains. When will I be able to go and search for them?"
A shadow passes the older woman's eyes before it retreats to the corners of her whites. Kayla knew it was a stupid question to ask, but Ardmore's usual stone voice changed to ice cold and she answered it anyway, "Once the labcoats are confident you can withstand longer link periods, we'll fly you out and drop you off at your brother's last known whereabouts before he was deemed killed in action. Understand that we can't waste a ton of manpower on this impossible body retrieval, but a deal's a deal. I'll send you out and send you a ride home once you call it in, but that's it. Otherwise, you're on your own, Corporal."
"Yes, ma'am. I understand."

HIGH CAMP, OMATIKAYA STRONGHOLD
The war party returns to their stronghold in the Hallelujah Mountains, and Jake's mind is still far away from him. After landing his ikran and breaking the bond, he felt his feet moving over to Max after the scientist hopped off the gunship with the same war paint Trudy's ship bore as a tribute. Jake easily towers over Max, asking him if he could have a look at the datapad he carried with their newly acquired information. Max flashed a look of understanding before handing the tablet over and walking away without another word.
Jake turned to leave as well, only he did so in the direction of his mate. Neytiri broke away from her ikran when she noticed Toruk Makto approaching her with a troubled look on his face, her ears stiffening at the sense of something being wrong.
"Ma Jake--"
"I have something to tell you," he gently cuts her off, and something in Neytiri's stomach drops, "Something I never told you before."
Subtly and easing into conversation had never been her husband's strongest suit. Neytiri felt cold and slightly fearful while staring down her mate, conflicted, trying to figure out what he could've hidden from her. It wasn't the first time he lied to her, earning her trust and betraying her, even when he had the best intentions. Over the years, Neytiri learned to forgive her mate for his past mistakes, including the one that concluded the death of her father and the destruction of her home. Still, hearing Jake admit that he hasn't told her everything made her heart sink with worry.
Nodding off to the side, she moves away from the campsite and Jake dutifully follows. Once they were out of earshot, she silently turned to him and folds her arms, waiting for him to spill, and he does, "I have a sister. Her name is Makayla."
Her tail curls in attention, lips parting in a silent gasp as she stares at him in disbelief, "You... you told me you had a twin brother."
"Yeah, I did. Tommy," Jake indicated toward himself, "This body was meant to be his avatar before he died and I took his place."
"And your sister?" The words felt strange on her tongue, her mind not yet convinced that Jake even has another sibling, much less a sister, "Why tell me now?"
His eyes swam with guilt, an emotion he knows better than to hide from his wife. Neytiri hadn't seen guilt like that on his face ever since he accidentally stepped on Little Kiri's tail and made her scream bloody murder. His eyes were wide and sad as if he had just accidentally killed the most beautiful, innocent creature in the world most sacred to Eywa. He looked as though he had betrayed Neytiri's trust all over again after telling her the truth behind the Sky People wanting the Omatikaya to leave Hometree. Decades worth of sadness and regret were evident in his eyes and aged him beyond his years, "Because she's here, with the Sky People."
He swipes across the screen of the datapad and offers the tablet to her. Neytiri stepped closer and caught sight of a picture on the screen. It was the picture of a human woman, with a blank expression as she stared directly into the camera head-on. She was middle-aged at most, likely more around Neytiri's age than Jake's, but she carried her shoulders and eyes to appear much older, kind of like how Jake looked now when examining the picture.
Neytiri is not sure what the Sky People deemed 'pretty' among their own species, so she didn't bother complimenting the picture, especially since she wouldn't have meant it. "That is her?"
"Yeah."
"Why is she here?"
Jake scrolls down the screen as he read, "This file mentions that she was recruited for the next step in the avatar program. Which means she'll most likely have a Na'vi body of her own."
Her eyes narrow but she doesn't say a word against the statement. 'Na'vi' is a loose term when it comes to the Sky People creating avatar bodies to walk among Neytiri's people. They never got certain features right, such as their hands and eyes. However, Neytiri can't find it within herself to be disgusted by those features anymore, not like she used to. Not when the man she fell in love with had those same features. Not when one of her sons and adopted daughter bore those same features. It was hard for Neytiri to imagine what an avatar would look like for Jake's sister and part of her didn't want to find out.
"What is the plan?" She sternly asked her husband, carefully watching his eyes, "Hm? What do you want to do?"
His ears are still lowered, definitely sensing the distrust in Neytiri's voice while he carefully answered, "I want to grab her and pull her out of there."
"Jake." She pitied her husband, detecting the hope in his eyes and she hated the fact that she must be the one to squash it, "Your sister is of the Sky People."
"So was I. Once," he tucked the datapad under his arm and placed both of his hands on her shoulders, keeping their eyes locked as he gently spoke, "But everything changed when I met you. If I can meet with her, I'm sure I can convince her to stay with us."
"... Older or younger than you?"
"Younger." He knew by then, he had won his wife over. Her tail flicked with curiosity at his answer along with her eyes before she tried her best to mask it. Both of them knew what the other was thinking, and the Na'vi woman was currently thinking about how much she missed her own sister. "Neytiri... I let her down once. I can't do it again."
"... And you won't."
~~~~~~~~~
Over the next few weeks, Makayla had been syncing with her avatar and learning how to move in her new body before heading out of the safety of the city. She kept close at first, not wanting to push it, and went one day at a time. Eventually, one mile became two, and after the first couple of weeks, she had branched out to a couple of hundred leagues. Thankfully, there weren't any mirrors out in the wilds of Pandora. She still had difficulty looking at her reflection, not expecting blue skin, big ears, and yellow eyes. However, she appreciated the new body in other ways, such as speed and agility. Kayla managed to pull stunts that she could have never done back home, least of all in her own body.
With the speedy progress she was making, Ardmore and the RDA scientists granted her permission to venture out days at a time, entrusting her with a radio and food rations but not much else per Ardmore's warning of little supplies available to be wasted. Makayla didn't mind. She had plenty of training to prepare her for survival, and although those survival tips were meant to help her thrive in climates unfamiliar to Pandora, she considered this as a challenge.
There were well-known sites of Pandora in the RDA database, stretched around familiar areas and marked as 'forbidden'. Kayla found herself at some of these sites, thinking of the possibility of finding her brother's body in these marked places. She had gone to Hell's Gate but found nothing other than whatever was left abandoned there. RDA had already cleared out what had been left by Na'vi and their human sympathizers that Ardmore warned Kayla about... though they took heavy losses because Hell's Gate had been rigged before their arrival. Unbeknownst to Kayla, she herself had set off an alarm when scavenging through the old military base, but she never saw or heard anything. The alarm had gone off elsewhere, far out into the floating mountains hundreds of miles away.
Taking her time around the abandoned base, Kayla kept her rifle under her arm and her newly-acquired, sensitive ears on high alert, turning this way and that at even the slightest of sounds. So of course, she immediately hears the sounds of bird screeches, only... they sound bigger, coming closer with multiples echoing off each other, along with the heavy sounds of large wings.
Kayla immediately takes cover, hiding in a large hangar meant to store gunships during those violent electrical storms she was warned about. Trying to make herself small by pressing against the wall as tight she could, she tried to calm her breath and slow down her heartbeat as she hears the thunderous sounds of dozens of large animals landing on the ground. Kayla could feel the stomps with her own two feet, not liking the idea of the danger being so close, she made sure her weapon was loaded, trying to stay quiet.
"Fan out! No lethals. We capture alive."
A loud voice booms and it's echoed by several yips and calls of acknowledgment. Makayla tried counting but lost count after six. Multiple footsteps can be heard scattering around the entire facility, and to her horror, a handful was coming in Kayla's direction. She takes a deep breath, willing herself to calm down. Slowly, carefully, she turns on her heels until she's fully facing the open hangar door, hoisting her rifle up until she's able to peek into the sights. She was ready to take out whoever came through that door, her eyes flickering down at the long shadows slowly approaching the doorway.
Too bad she had no one to cover her six because, with one flick of her ear, she realized her mistake. Spinning around, she's met with a swift kick of someone's leg, throwing her back and forcing her hands to let go of her gun, letting the weapon skitter across the floor. Kayla grunts at the impact, trying to quickly scurry to her feet as loud war cries echo all around her, bouncing off the walls of the empty hangar. Standing up and unsheathing her knife, she's completely surrounded by Na'vi, snarls and hisses being spat at her feet while having dozens of weaponry pointed at her. Spears, arrows, knives... even heavy artillery of human-make, like a shoulder-held grenade launcher. Kayla had to admit, that made her pause and stare oddly at the Na'vi warrior holding a weapon she was more familiar with before the sound of more people running into the hangar drew her attention away.
Kayla spun around at all the people surrounding her, pointing her knife at each of them as she screamed, "Stay back!"
They only hiss or ululate in response, glaring sharply at the female marine with bright yellow eyes that now match hers. They begin to close in around her, tightening up their formation, and she could feel her heart beginning to sink to her stomach as she gripped her knife tighter.
"Waitwaitwait! Hold your fire!"
The Na'vi all pause, slowly calming down and some break out of the circle to make way for their leader. Or, at least, that's who Kayla figured this particular male Na'vi was. He looked like the leader, with his war paint and many feather and beads adorning the braids of his hair and loincloth. However, there was something about his attire that made him stand out and that was the army-green vest, clearly of human fashion. Kayla fully turned to face the Na'vi male, her eyes briefly shifting to the side when a Na'vi female walked close behind him, otherwise, Kayla kept her eyes forward and focused on the leader.
The leader appeared hesitant, even hopeful, his ears flicking curiously to the side while closely inspecting her, "What's your name?"
She clocks in on the accent, recognizing the clear words to be something from her home world. And... oddly, it sounded familiar, though she couldn't place it. Lookely closely, she realized that this Na'vi was different from the others, apart from the fashion. This leader bore five digits on each hand and bore eyebrow hairs, much like herself. This wasn't a Na'vi at all. This was an avatar.
"... You sound American. You know English."
He flashed a brief smirk of amusement, "I know a lot more than that. Your name?"
She shifts her gaze around at all the Na'vi people staring menacingly at her. What harm could her first name be? "Makayla."
Something deflates in the leader's posture and expression. Shock and relief mix together in his eyes, "Jesus. It really is you."
Her eyebrows furrow, head tilting ever so slightly with curiosity, "Do I know you?"
"Kayla, it's me. It's Jake."
Her entire posture stiffens, face freezing in the expression of curiosity. She didn't move a muscle let alone remember to breathe, eyes only ever staring at the leader ahead of her, now calling himself Jake. Slowly, she takes a careful step forward, growing nervous, inspecting the man's face every time she stepped closer to get a better look. Jake's posture continued to soften, trying not to appear intimidating so that she would bravely step up to him. As she got closer, Jake clearly recognized her in certain features her avatar inherited, but he didn't voice it. Instead, he remained patient, letting his sister take her time.
What he wasn't expecting, however, was when she got close enough, Kayla quickly reached out and grabbed him, roughly spinning him around and holding him in front of her body like a shield while yelps and hollers of distress sound out all around the pair. The Na'vi all cry out in warning as they raise their weapons once more, becoming infuriated when Kayla remembered her knife and pressed the blade against Jake's neck, snarling into his ear, "How the hell do you know my brother's name?!"
"Kayla--"
"Tell me!"
Neytiri's bow was raised, an arrow aimed directly at Kayla's head, but she appeared hesitant, "Ma Jake--"
Jake lifted his arms out to his people, trying to block Kayla from their weapons, "Hold! Hold! Don't hurt her."
When none of them moved, Jake tried his best to talk down to the woman currently holding him hostage. Height wise she was a couple of inches shorter than him, but the knife pressed into his skin told Jake that height clearly didn't matter, "Kayla... calm down. It's me, I swear."
Her voice cracked, but in rage or distress, Jake wasn't sure of, "No, you're lying. My brother was killed in action!"
He grimaced, "That's likely a lie the RDA came up with for insurance reasons. There's a lot you don't know but if you--" her knife knocked his skin in warning, but he forced his words out, this time louder and less calm, "if you would just let me explain!"
"You're not him!" She screamed in his ear, her breaths becoming irregular, "You're not-- you can't be--"
"I can prove it," he spoke sternly, confidently, getting right down to the point, "You tried wine for the first time when you were sixteen, stealing a small glass from Mom. Instead of spitting it out, you tried finishing the glass like an idiot because Tommy told you not to. Mom and Dad locked you in the bathroom the next day because you were so sick and they made him clean it up because he didn't stop you."
The whole world felt as though it paused mid-rotation, the ground, and sky beneath them holding their breath, awaiting a response. He couldn't see her face, but Jake noticed the grip around her knife had loosened a fraction, and it was slowly moving away from his neck. Slowly, he slipped out of her hold by his own accord, slowly turning around so as not to spook her. Kayla's knife clatters to the ground and Neytiri forces herself to relax, lowering her bow and nodding for the others to follow suit.
Makayla studies Jake's face more closely this time, depicting certain features that she recognized to belong to a Sully, in some way shape or form. She couldn't explain how she knew... but it was the same reason why she was able to identify her avatar as her own, knowing certain features stem from both avatar and human form.
"Jake..." She exhaled under her breath, her voice quieter than before. Kayla took a step closer and the Na'vi people shuffled nervously. Jake kept perfectly still, remaining under her observation until something clicked behind her eyes like the gears had just suddenly shifted into place. Her eyes widen in shock, relief, and above all, joy, "Jake!"
She jumps into his arms, her full body shaking being the only sign of the woman ever crying.
Love Like the Sea
Chapter 3: All Too Well
Tumblr media
a/n: the beginning is kinda mid. you can tell it was the last thing I wrote 😭 but I'm actually really happy with how the rest of this came out
pairing: Neteyam × Metkayina!Reader
important story info: no use of y/n, it was not working for the story. Neteyam, reader, and Ao'nung are 19. Kiri is 18. Loak and Tsireya are 17. Characters have been aged up for story purposes (not for smut, just easier to write them older)
warnings: none!
word count: 3.9k (we’ll just say 4k bc I was literally so close)
——————————
The Metkayina have their first breath days after birth. Not a literal first breath, but rather a baptism of sorts, where they are introduced to the sea, an integral part of their being and existence. The ocean breathes new life into the body, and they are reborn as one, united with its calamity.
Born to the sea, return to the sea.
The entire village stood in the shallow of the shore, glowing orange as the sun began to retreat, signaling the start of eclipse, gathered around you, Ronal, and the two parents carrying the three day old baby. You held your arms out as the infant was given to you, big, new eyes staring into your own, nineteen cycles old. She moved her small, chubby fingers, reaching to grab one of yours.
Holding her close, you stepped further out in the ocean, water sloshing against your hips.
“New day, new life,” you began, “Energy given, energy to return.”
You lowered the baby’s small body, resting her along the surface. She squirmed as the water touched her back.
“From the sea you will be reborn, a new breath of new life. The sea is your home, before birth, after death.”
You slowly brought her body under.
“Water connects all. Water guides the soul.”
You let go, allowing her natural instincts to kick in to find her way back to the surface. She wiggled around, feeling her limbs move against the pulsing water.
She kicked her little legs to bring her body back up for air and her head breached with a gasp.
You picked her up, turning towards the crowd behind you, and held her above your head.
“Ewya has given her first breath!” The village cheered and raised their palms up.
Bringing her back down, you return the baby to her parents so that they may announce her name to the people.
The father held her high, shouting, “Na’sari!”
“Na’sari!” The village shouted back.
Ronal held out a tray to the parents, displaying three varying colourful shells, one for birth, one for breath, and one for new life among the sea.
“With these, her songchord begins,” she stated.
“Irayo Ronal,” thanked the mother, grabbing the shells.
Tonowari then stepped forward, addressing his people, “Let us celebrate. New life has born!”
They cheered once more before retreating to the beach and heading to the clearing among the trees.
“You did well,” Ronal said to you, laying a hand on your shoulder.
You brought yours up, placing it over hers, “Thank you.”
o0O0o
The creeping ache at the bottoms of your feet was becoming hard to ignore, worn from constantly beating themselves against the gritty sand, bigger pieces digging into your heels. Eclipse had long passed, night taken over, and you found yourself lost, entrapped in multitudes of dance circles, bodies pushing and pulling you in every direction, much like an ocean current. Colours and lights blurred into streaks in your vision, sounds became muffled, only the beating of the drums distinct enough to hear clearly.
You adorned a new shell in your hair, one bigger than the pearl that used to be braided into your crown. This one was from a scallop, orange and striped, now sitting atop your head. It was meant to represent growing as tsakarem, closer to becoming tsahik. Despite being thin, it felt heavy, a pulsing reminder you couldn’t ignore, much like the pain in your feet.
Scanning the crowd, you easily spotted Ao’nung, sat on a low, thick tree branch, his moping figure and permanent scowl causing him to stick out.
“You won’t even dance at my first First Breath?” you teased, sitting beside him.
He grunted, scooching away from you. Your smile disappeared, replaced with a frown.
“What’s wrong?”
“The outsiders,” Ao’nung glanced in the direction of Tsireya, sat on the other side of the fire, animatedly talking to Lo’ak, pointing to various parts of the fish, charred on her plate.
It wasn’t difficult to tell that Tsireya had taken a liking to the youngest Sully son, one would have to be blind to not notice her seemingly always around him, especially assisting him in lessons.
“They are not a threat,” you reassured, holding his forearm, “you shouldn’t be so mean to them.”
He stayed silent.
You continued, “They learn quick.”
“They don’t belong here,” Ao’nung glared at you.
Pulling your hand away, you stood up, “You’re too stubborn, too judgemental.”
Ao’nung had always been a bit of a hothead, quick to jump to conclusions, often set in his ways, usually you were his voice of reason, the person that balanced him, reminding him to take a step back and think. It was unlike him to not even hear you out.
Attempting to put distance between you and him, you weren’t paying attention where you were walking and a small body collided with yours, pulling you out of your thoughts. The youngest of the Sullys stood in front of you, short braided hair and big yellow eyes beaming up at you.
“You’re very pretty!”
Your cheeks flushed purple, “Thank you little one,” shyly smiling.
“Tuk!”
The said girl turned towards the voice calling for her, a familiar face appearing through the crowd.
“Tuk, you can’t run off like that.”
She giggled, running to hide behind you.
“I’m sorry about her.” Neteyam sighed.
You shook your head, smiling, “It’s alright, she’s been no trouble.” Turning around, you crouched to Tuk’s height, “How are your feet? Do you want to dance with me?”
She lit up, eyes wider than ever, “Neteyam can I? Please, please, please-“
“Yes, yes!” he groaned, feigning annoyance, but winked at her.
Tuk gasped and grabbed your hand, eagerly pulling you into the sea of people dancing, you laughing.
“Slow down little one!”
“My name is Tuk!”
You held her arm up as she twirled, “My name is Mara.”
“I know.”
“You know?”
“Neteyam told me!” Tuk giggled, swinging your arms back and forth.
You looked back at where he was, watching you both, smiling.
“Oh.”
“Yeah! Said you helped him swim! Can you help me swim?”
“Of course,” you let her jump around you, “I can help you.”
“Do you dance a lot here?” Tuk pulled your body, making you spin with her.
“We dance at First Births, the Tulkuns’ return, and iknimaya ceremonies.”
“Wow,” she gasped, breathless, “I wish we danced a lot.”
You furrowed your brows, “You don’t have celebrations?”
She shook her head, “Not really. It’s always busy.”
Your lips were pursed, tight against each other, a contrast from your fluidly moving body.
You didn’t realize how much youth was taken away from her, how she didn’t even realize how much she lost. It was unfair, someone so young, so innocent, to know war as the normal, the everyday, being unable to experience clan traditions, the groundwork of culture. It wasn’t fair that the start of a “normal” life was far away from her people, amongst strangers who didn’t share her features.
“We will dance together at the Tulkun’s return, until our feet can’t carry us anymore.” You promised her and Tuk giggled once more.
You glanced over again at Neteyam, his eyes still locked onto you.
Crouching down, you whispered in her ear, “Your brother has yet to dance tonight.”
She recognized your insinuation, grinned and ran to him, pulling him into the crowd, ignoring his weak protests. You covered your mouth, hiding your growing smile at his stumbling before slipping away.
You didn’t feel like celebrating anymore, Tuk’s statement unnerved you, it sat unwell in your stomach, churning. You were sure her family did their best to shield her from the pain of war, but there was only so much that could be hidden and kept away. How could you let yourself dance knowing a group of your kind was fighting, wounded, dwindling.
You grabbed a basket of fish that went unused, deciding you’d let the ilu have an extra dinner so as not to waste the catch.
Carrying the basket against your hip, you pushed aside the giant leaves blocking your path and made your way to the beach. You called for the ilu and a small pod of three came chirping and splashing along the shore.
“I’ve brought you something, don’t let the others find out,” you playfully whispered, setting the basket down.
They squealed and circled each other, eager to be fed.
You reached down and pulled out a fish, tossing it to the ilu closest to you. It scarfed its meal down, thrumming contently.
Your ears perked at the sound of sand shuffling behind you, turning to see Neteyam come through the clearing.
“Not a partier?” he asked, approaching you.
“Just needed some space. Figured it was a good time to feed the leftover fish to the ilu.” You tossed another fish into the next ilu’s gaping mouth.
“Tuk had fun. She’s passed out in our Mauri, think it was all the dancing.” he chuckled.
“I’m glad she enjoyed it.”
There was silence, you both staring at each other.
You looked away, clearing your throat, “Were you able to dance a lot, in the forest? Before, you know?”
Neteyam’s ears folded slightly, “Yeah.”
“I’m sorry Tuk didn’t get to experience that.”
“Me too,” he sighed, “but I’m happy she can have some of it here.”
“She’s a sweet girl,” you fondly smiled.
“Remember that when she blackmails you.”
You laughed, it was the first time Neteyam really got to hear it, clear and soft in the quiet night, it reminded him of a song.
You handed Neteyam a fish, him gingerly holding it out for an ilu to take.
“So she’s a troublemaker?” You asked.
“Of sorts,” he grimaced, wiping his fingers on his loincloth, attempting to remove the fish slime, “depends who’s with her.”
“Ah, so only with you.”
Neteyam looked at you, seeing your teasing grin, “I’ve made that bad an impression?” He did his best to feign shock, but was unable to hide a small smile.
“Prove me wrong then,” you retorted.
You picked up the last fish, feeding it to the first ilu, caressing its cheek as it chirped and cooed.
There came a quick breeze, blowing through your thick hair, tickling your skin. You closed your eyes briefly, inhaling the salty scent the wind lifted into the air.
You looked behind Neteyam, towards the distant fire, shadows of dancing figures flickering, singing and cheering muffled. You had no particular urge to return to the festivities, and the ocean didn’t seem to want you to either, water rushing, pulling you, begging you.
Your eyes trailed back to the forest Na’vi, “Do you want to come with me?”
His ears jolted, caught by surprise, “What?”
“Do you want to come with me?” You repeated.
“Where?” He asked, head tilting slightly.
“You’ll have to find out. Come!”
You stepped into the ocean, water sloshing against your body, and swam up to the ilu you just fed. Pulling yourself onto its back, you brought your braid forward, connecting with it’s neural whip.
Neteyam hadn’t moved from his spot on the beach, unsure if he was to ride with you or mount his own, and if the latter, he was far from confident as he barely just learned to stay on yesterday.
Sensing his hesitancy, you patted the empty space behind you on the ilu’s back, signaling him to join.
He made his way into the water, tensing as it hit his skin, not quite as comfortable with the cold temperature as you were.
Once he was sat behind you, you said, “Don’t worry, I’ll stay above the surface. And hold on.”
Nodding, Neteyam snaked an arm around your waist, your breath hitched, stomach tensing at his touch. His hand was courser than you expected, fingers calloused but ever so gentle, feather like.
The ilu jolted, feeling your distraction through the bond. Recomposing yourself, you mentally told it to go. Neteyam wasn’t ready for the sudden surge forward, letting out a quick gasp and tightening his hold on your body. He wasn’t pressed up against your back, but still extremely close, able to feel each other’s skin tickle at any slight adjustment.
It was one of the quieter reef nights, ignoring the distant cheering and singing of your people. The waves were considerably small, barely breaking, glowing patterns rippling across the sea from its movement, painting in the night. Most of the ilu were gathered by the shore, playing around the mangrove roots, the ocean too calm for their spirited nature.
Neteyam spoke, “So, now can you tell me where we’re going?”
You rolled your eyes, not that he could see it, “You do know what a surprise is?”
“Really holding on to that. But are we almost there?”
“Yes,” you answered.
You were far out, nothing around except for a couple rock stacks, peaking above the surface, and the sea wall ahead, bordering Awa’atlu, protecting it from the harsh waves and akula of the vast ocean beyond.
Creeping towards its lowest level, you arrived at the intended destination.
“Clearly, it’s not a secret place, but it’s best to see the stars here,” you slid off the ilu, Neteyam following, and climbed up the platforms of tide pools, bioluminescence lighting up each step, glowing fish and plants swimming in them.
“Ao’nung, Tsireya, and I used to come here all the time at night,” you continued as you sat down on the highest ledge, facing the significantly darker blue, outsiding ocean.
“Not anymore?” Neteyam asked, sitting beside you.
“There isn’t much time for it. Me and Ao’nung are older, we have a lot of responsibilities,” you paused, “Tsireya’s lucky, she doesn’t have to grow up as quick.”
Neteyam’s eyes softened, all too well understanding having to say goodbye to childhood earlier than others.
“I get it,” he whispered.
“Really? Anytime I’ve mentioned it, I’m told to be grateful Ewya has chosen me, that it’s an honour.”
“I definitely get being told to be happy about it, not so much the chosen by Ewya part,” he chuckled.
You smiled, glad to have someone else who understood, someone other than Ao’nung to relate to, someone who truly didn’t want the life thrusted upon them.
“You were to become Olo’eytkan,” it wasn’t a question, but rather a realization, one you didn’t think of when learning Jake Sully’s status that first day.
Neteyam nodded, tight lips, clouds of pain swirling with the amber of his eyes.
“I didn’t want it, but it was everything I knew. It was my everyday. Train, hunt, fight. But now it’s gone, the thing that had been forced to be my identity was stripped away. I only know how to be a warrior. If I’m not future Olo’eyktan, then who am I, you know?”
You let his words sink in, thinking of your own
situation. You had spent almost every morning and night, asking Ewya why you, begging her to take it away, to choose someone else. But it never occurred to you who you would be then; you couldn’t imagine a life where you were not tsakarem, where you were not at Ao’nung’s side, it was your place in the clan, the meaning of your life. Who would you be without it?
“But,” Neteyam continued, “I’m happy to be free of it, to be able to just live.”
“A life among just the sea, that would be enough,” you sighed, closing your eyes. “I’ve never not known that I would become Tsahik one day. Playing alongside Ao’nung as kids, I knew we had to become a mated pair one day. And now it’ll happen sooner than later, it just would’ve been nice to have had a choice,” you pulled one of your knees up against your body, resting your cheek on it.
“Do you see him?” He asked, eying you, curious.
You turned to him, mouth open, shocked he would ask that, especially so blunt, “That’s not appropriate.”
“Sorry.”
You look up at the sky, twinkling with stars, lit up by Polyphemus, “We balance, we understand. I’m lucky to have found a friend in him, not many in my position have that.”
Neteyam stayed silent, wondering if he would’ve been in the same spot if they had not left the forest. Would his parents have chosen someone for him, someone they saw fit to lead alongside him? He’d hoped not, but it was something he never thought of before. Despite having passed his rights, having become a man in his clan, the idea of a mate wasn’t even a spec in his mind. There was no room for it. There was war, duties as future chief, but how long would he have gone without thinking of it, would he have become too old, too late to find love?
You both were two sides of a similar story, having a life thrust upon you, having to sacrifice your rights to choose, but where as he had no mate due to his consumption of his responsibilities, you would be forced to have one by your responsibilities, forced to be bound forever loveless.
“Did you have someone?” You asked.
Neteyam shook his head, “No.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. To be honest, it never even crossed my mind. I didn’t have time for it,” he paused, “I didn’t make time for it.”
“Those poor girls,” you laughed.
“What?”
“The girls? The ones trying to court you?”
Neteyam stared at you blankly, “There were no girls?”
“You didn’t even notice the girls,” your mouth was agape.
He stuttered, flustered trying to defend himself.
“I’m teasing,” you reassured, “but really, those poor girls.”
“Stop it,” he groaned, covering his face with his hand.
You both looked at each other, poorly attempting to stay serious but burst into a fit of giggles.
You had to admit, it was a good feeling, having a moment where the future wasn’t weighing as heavy, where you could pretend to be a giddy teenager, albeit on the older end, gossipping about absolute nonsense. You didn’t have many friends, Tsireya came by default, she was more a younger sister than anything, nor did you care for Ao’nung’s posse. You were okay with Roxto, though, he was kind, much like Tsireya, but a little quiet. Ronal and Tonowari believed he was good for Ao’nung, his only friend that seemed to have common sense, keeping him out of trouble.
Your laughing subsided, quiet taking over, listening to the roaring waves.
“Sometimes,” you began, “I wonder if mine and Ao’nung’s paths would’ve still crossed had it been different. Like you said, I don’t really know where I would be or who I am without my title. Who would my friends be, what place would I have among the people?”
“Well, what do you do when you’re not training?” Neteyam asked.
“I swim,” you answered.
“That’s it?”
Truth be told, everything you did tied back into being tsakarem, teaching children to ride ilu, weaving, making medicine, you had to be able to do it all, tsahik was the heart of the tribe.
“We are much like the mangrove that we live on. Tsahik and olo’eyktan at the center, the tree itself, the base. The people are the roots, but everything we do is for the good of all the people. We all weave, hunt, protect. Some excel in certain things more than others, but no job is secluded to just one. What I do when not training is still part of my role,” you explained to him, “Swimming is the only thing not tied to it.”
“I think you’d like flying,” Neteyam spoke, “that’s how I feel when I’m in the sky. It’s something I can do freely.”
You shook your head, “It seems scary, I might fall off!”
“I wouldn’t let you.”
Oh.
It was like a knife sliced through the air, cutting off your breath, and there was that funny feeling again, that sinking and flutter in the pits of your stomach. You weren’t sure if it was what he said or how he said it, like there was something shrouded behind his words, but you knew it was wrong, so, so wrong. What were you even doing? You were out, alone, in the night, with a man, not the one you were promised to. You needed to leave, needed to get back before anyone caught you.
You turned behind you, looking towards the distant village, now dimly glowing, the bonfire having been long put out.
“We should head back, it’s late.”
o0O0o
You rode up to the large, winding mangrove roots, sturdy against the strength and unpredictability of the sea.
You let Neteyam get off the ilu first, pulling himself onto the woven path suspended above as you disconnected your queue and slid into the water. You pet the ilu’s head, showing your gratitude before it disappeared into the sea with a chirp.
You reached up to grab the side of the pathway, but strong cerulean hands wrapped around your forearms. You follow the dark blue, follow the dark stripes painted on night skin, and see bright gold looking at you, like the sun.
“Here,” Neteyam pulled you out of the water as you hoisted your legs up onto the suspended pathway, attempting to find footing on the elastic weaving. You stepped too firmly, losing your balance and tumbling forward with a yelp, further into the dark blue arms.
Neteyam stumbled back slightly as he caught you, your body now pressed against his, “Easy there.”
“I’m so sorry,” you rushed out, cheeks warm, flustered.
“It’s okay,” he whispered.
You realized how close you were, you could feel his breath tickle your face, his heartbeat thump against his chest.
You peeled yourself away from him, “I, uh, should go,” meekly gesturing towards the direction of your mauri.
Neteyam’s ears perked, “Right, yeah, I should too,” but neither of you moved to leave.
“Okay, goodnight,” you whispered and turned to walk away, body bouncing with each step.
He watched your figure disappear into the night, now alone with just the sound of the water below him. His skin burned where yours touched, like an open wound that only you could heal.
What am I doing? He asked himself. You had barely met a full day ago, he didn’t know you, besides the parts where you two were the same, but still; he didn’t know your favourite food, your happiest memory, your fears. Yet, the breeze that blew through his braids and through your curls was pushing him to you, like a whisper, telling him it was right.
Neteyam sighed and looked up at the sky, asking Ewya why she wanted to toy with him. Why allow him a new life of calm, peace, only to dangle something he couldn’t have before him.
“Bro, where’ve you been?” a voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
Lo’ak stood underneath a glowing lantern, making him visible in the night.
“A swim?” While technically true, Neteyam sounded far from convincing.
Lo’ak raised his eyebrows, “Sure.”
Neteyam scoffed and lightly shoved his brother.
Lo’ak continued, “We gotta go before dad wakes up. Or else he’s gonna beat my ass.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
Lo’ak began walking away, leading the way to their mauri. Neteyam took one last look at the sky, sending a final plea to Ewya, before turning and following his brother. If he stayed and looked a second longer, he would’ve seen that the stars twinkled back, Ewya’s presence closer than ever, starting a new chapter in his story.
The battle against the RDA took an emotional and physical toll on you in more ways than one. You tended to everyone's wounds with Ronal within the next few days, aiding her in anyway you can for your clan assisting the Tsahìk. You also couldn't help but watch Neteyam like a hawk, practically never letting him out of your sight. You were nervous for him after his near fatal incident, although he kept insisting he was more than capable of his duties with eye rolls and constant reminders. The Tulkun liquid healed his wounds completely, leaving but a faint scar on his chest, serving as a reminder of his brush with death.
Jake and you were able to spend your evenings with your family over dinner, without the impending fear of war. But you could see Jake visibly struggling with coming to terms that Quaritch was indeed dead, for good this time. You understood his guilt, fear, and post traumatic stress over the events of your time here. You did your best as his mate to calm him when he would wake up in the middle of the night writhing and screaming in agony covered in sweat. You would hastily attach your kurus making Tsaheylu, taking his pain, his anguish, his guilt and lessening it for him. He could sense your worry for him, although on nights like this, he was grateful for a mate who saw his most raw moments clinging to sanity with a thin thread, heaving with anxiety fighting the pain.
Your day has started out calm, the days since the battle, provided a blanket of somber serenity like a tidal wave. The thick of the worry now finally disappearing into the horizon, you feel as if you can breathe again. You nuzzle into your mate’s neck, inhaling his delicious scent feeling the warmth of his skin radiate onto yours enveloping you in. Your ears perk up to the gentle sounds of waves hitting the shore, and the soft clicking of ilus rising with the morning.
As the fishermen ready to set out to hunt, you feel Jake’s arm caress your back gingerly. You smile into him, as he brings you in closer to his chest. “Good morning my sweet girl.” He whispers into your hair. You raise your head to find him already gazing to you lovingly, “Good morning Jake.” You reply with equal vigor. He brings his lips to yours, softly caressing each other in a tender kiss. Most mornings start like this now, appreciating the small moments of intimacy you have with your husband. You hear a quiet yawn from behind you, slowly breaking the kiss turning back to find Tuk waking up from her sleep.
The little Sully rubs her sleep ridden eyes and looks to you and Jake. She groggily gets up, and makes her way over to you two laying on your mats, and crawls in-between your warm bodies. Recently, Tuk has been needing more attention following the traumatic events with the RDA, all of the kids did. You and Jake made sure to give each of them equal attention and care as best you could as parents. Tuk wraps her small arms around your neck as you rub her back, “Did you sleep well little one?” She just replies with a sleepy “Mhm.” Causing Jake to laugh.
He won’t lie, in recent months seeing you with Tuk and his children had him longing for more members to add to the family. The gentle nature you carried with Tuk and Lo’ak, Kiri, and Neteyam warmed his heart. And that’s what Jake loved most about you.
Jake sits up, to get breakfast started as Neteyam begins to rise with the morning sun peaking through your marui. You turn to him with a small smile, as he yawns a big sleepy yawn with fangs poking out and stretching his slumber ridden limbs. He looks to where you lay with Tuk’s head in the crook of your neck holding her as she sleeps. He smiles at his little sister, and the sight of you caring for her so deeply, as he smells the banana wrapped leaves begin to smoke. Jake flips the food over a few times for good measure, as Lo’ak and Kiri begin to wake from the aroma of breakfast breaking their sleep.
You bring yourself to a sitting position with Tuk still asleep, as you gently wake her, “Tuk Tuk, it’s time for breakfast. Come on, I bet you’re hungry. Dad made your favorite.” You see her ears begin to twitch at your words, slowly opening her big eyes and waking from her sleep. She silently moves from your warm body, and over to where the rest are sitting with breakfast filling their tummies. Jake looks over to you, as you make your way to join them. “Here hun.” He passes two leaves, one for you and Tuk, as you hand one to the youngest. “Thank you.” You reply.
You begin to eat your food, slowly chewing the warm filling of the leaves, as the aroma of smoked vegetables and meat hit your nose with an unfamiliar smell. Disgust suddenly fills your face, as your stomach lurches at the scent. You quickly bring your hand to your mouth, fighting sudden nausea.
What the hell is happening to me? You swiftly think to yourself. Jake immediately notices the quick change in your demeanor, scanning your body for any signs of illness, as you hastily rise, and dismiss yourself. You run out of the family tent, and bring yourself over to the edge of the marui, and heave up the little food you have in your stomach. Jake following suit, sees your body vomiting the breakfast into the water as he makes his way behind you to make sure you’re alright. “Tani, hey. What is it?” With a hand to the back of your neck, you wipe the vomit from your lips breathing heavily. Your head begins to rush, and your vision goes slightly blurry, as you try to stand.
Your knees buckle slightly, as Jake catches you wobbly form. “Whoah, hey! Hey sweetheart I gotcha.” He says holding onto you. “Oh Jake, I do not feel so well. I’m sorry. I think I’m experiencing a panic attack. I have been getting them frequently since the battle.” He brings his hands to cup your face gently, understanding what the two of you have been put through is no easy feat by any means. “It’s okay sweet girl I understand. But why don’t you go see Ronal today, just in case you’re coming down with something okay? Can you do that for me?” He asks with concern laced in his words. You truly don’t know what’s come over you, now with worry flowing through your own veins, you meet his gaze and nod. If anyone would know what’s come over you, it’s your Tsahìk.
After your family finishes the rest of their meal, you are walked to the Tsahìk’s tent with Jake, who insisted to go with you. You laugh at his worry, although you can’t blame him so you don’t fight it. You enter Ronal’s tent flipping up the privacy flap as your eyes scan to her and Tonowari weaving baskets together. Their children must be out in the water with your kids already, you observe. Her eyes whip up to where you and Jake stand, her big belly now swollen in the last trimester of her pregnancy as she struggles to stand up to meet you. “Tani what can I help you with?” Suddenly a lump in your throat begins to form, as the embarrassment hits your cheeks with flush.
A mighty warrior like you, taken down by a small fever how laughable you think. “I fell ill this morning around breakfast time, I couldn’t even keep my food down. I fear I may be coming down with something.” You say quietly, as Jake rubs his hand on the back of your neck. Ronal lightly nods, and motions for you to sit on the mat with Jake, as Tonowari rises to give you privacy. “I will see you.” He says to you both, nodding and making his exit. Ronal does a quick scan of your body, taking in your form. She notices your cheeks flushed with a plump new color than previous, your bioluminescence slightly brighter, your hair shines more in the light.
She knows what you’ve come down with before she even gets her tools out, but still she must get her confirmation. “Lay down on your back Tani, I will see to your illness.” Your ears don’t miss the way she stresses that last word.
She brings a basket to the side of you, raising a wooden tool to your skin as she rolls you over to your side. The cool contrast of the wood to your skin causes a shiver to rip down your spine, as she lightly taps each vertebrae. Once done, she rolls you onto your back again, as Jake examines everything with wide eyes. She brings her hands to press down onto your abdomen a little rough, causing you to wince. She moves her hands side to side, pressing against your womb and bladder as you hear click her tongue.
“You are pregnant.” She states calmly. A gasp escapes yours and Jake’s mouths simultaneously. You quickly rise, in a sitting position staring wide eyed at your Tsahìk. “Are you sure?” You ask in a hushed voice. Ronal just chuckles to you, “Of course I am. I am your Tsahìk. You’re about 3 months along. You aren’t showing just yet. But you are indeed pregnant. With a girl.” You whip your head to face Jake, with tears forming in your eyes. “A baby girl?” He looks to you glossy eyed as well.
You bring your hand to your mouth as a small giggle escapes. “A girl?” You repeat. Ronal watches your interaction intently, rising to give the two of you privacy. “Oh Jake! Eywa has blessed us with a gift.” Your glossy eyes meet one another, eyes crinkling with pure joy, the butterflies filling your belly with fluttering motions like the ones you felt on your wedding night. He brings his large hand over to your belly, lightly caressing the skin. “I can’t believe it. You have no idea how happy I am sweetheart.” You bring your lips to meet his in a sweet and tender kiss, filled with love and admiration, as you sniffle from happy tears. You bring your foreheads to one another, relishing in the joy of this news with only light and delight filling your hearts.
Breaking the news to your family was something you and Jake would never forget. The beginning of new life residing inside you caused your children to light up with instantaneous glee. A new sibling, a new chapter to your lives. Tuk being the happiest that she would no longer be the youngest Sully, and Kiri grateful it’s a girl to add to outnumber the boys. Lo’ak stared in awe of you, then slight disgust over the fact that he knew how babies get made. Neteyam and you finally reaching a comfortable kinship with your bond, was now ecstatic to have a new member of the family. You and Jake began making a bassinet as soon possible, both too excited to wait. Over the course of your pregnancy, Ronal gave birth to her own child. A baby boy, named Akairu.
Rambunctious and filled with vigor like his parents, you would routinely visit her marui to observe motherhood close up, from everything to breastfeeding, nap routines, and how to wrap a small loincloth. Your eyes never ceasing to fill with wonder over the maternal instincts your friend possessed. Seeing how she interacted with new life, filled your heart with your own excitement, anticipating your own young as your belly grew with new life.
Many eclipses go by, as you reach the end of your pregnancy, your belly hard and swollen making it harder and harder for you to perform your every day tasks. Because of this, Jake assists you in anyway he can, making sure you’re as comfortable as possible like the caring mate his is. Neteyam and Lo’ak had completed their Metkayina Iknimaya’s and were ready to adorn their first tattoos as reef men. Neteyam previously completed his passage into adulthood back in the forest, knew that he was allowed to choose a mate if he so desired. Lo’ak knew that he would be with Tsireya, and Neteyam had met a kind girl who came from jewelry crafters. Both you and Jake okayed the boys’ choices, blessing them with your approval.
Today you wobbled your way through the forest to gather some fruit from the melon tree in the mangroves, carrying your empty basket alongside Tuk. You enjoyed the smaller tasks as a clan member, as you reached the end of your pregnancy. You may not be able to go hunting and training like you used to, but spending time with your little ones, and taking it easy allowed for your body and mind to calm, for you and the baby. Your demeanor in the last few months was incredible considering you thought you would be frustrated and irritable due to hormones, but it was the complete opposite. You seemed to glow, carrying impending motherhood with grace and poise.
You and Tuk reach the destination, and set the baskets down, as you ready your tools to grab hold of the fruit, slowly the baskets fill with weight as you’re satisfied with the harvest. “Alright that looks good Tuk, how about one for the way back huh?” She looks to you as you toss a melon her way, eyes lighting up with joy. You craved nothing but sweet things during your pregnancy, as your teeth pop the skin of the plump fruit. The juices overflow your senses, as the liquid drips down your chin.
The two of you make your way back to the marui, setting the baskets down, as you feel a pinching sensation in your back. “Agh!” You squeal in surprise. Tuk whips her head to you, as your brows furrow with pain. “Mama what is it?” You start to feel intense cramping, when suddenly a giant pop and splash hit the ground of your tent.
Your eyes widen with fear as you realize your water has just broke. Tuk gasps, and runs to you. “Mama what is that?!” You bring you fingers to your neck comm, with your birthing plan officially early. “Ma’Jake.” Your voice cracks to life in his neck, as he finishes his hunt with Tonowari and the boys. “Tani, sweetheart what is it?” He inquires. “My water has broke. We must prepare for the baby.” You explain as calmly as possible. His stomach drops with panic, but quickly takes a deep breath to calm his senses. “Okay, just hang tight the boys and I will be there in a few minutes.”
You and Tuk page for Kiri to come in from free dive training, as she quickly pops into the tent. “Oh Tani, let me help!” As she takes the items from your hands into a woven bag for you. You prepared for your baby girl’s arrival as much as possible, but now with the birth looming quickly, your senses have been dialed to 100. You allow Kiri to help pack anything you would need, preparing to make haste to the Tsahìk’s tent. As a member of the Metkayina now, you have been preparing for a traditional water birth. The private pools of the mangrove forest have a special area reserved for family births, with a small hand crafted tent most families would nest in for the next few days.
Jake suddenly enters the family home, with Neteyam and Lo’ak following suit. “Hey I’m here. You feel okay?” As he brings his hands to cup your face, another contraction rips through your body, causing a loud cry. “Ah!” You hold your belly tightly, as Jake does your breathing exercises with you. “Okay, two quick ones in and out. Good girl.” You feel him rub small circles your neck. “Neteyam boy, can you get the pack please.” He motions to the family pack of food, water, cloths, clothing and everything you’ll need in the next few days as you embark on the journey together as a family post birth. Jake hoists you up bridal style as you make way to Ronal’s tent.
Kiri opens the flap for you to enter, as Ronal expects you and your family. She has you lay down on the mat, while readying her tools. A small sheen of sweat coats your skin as you feel another contraction hit you, this time the biggest one yet. You scream in agony, as Jake offers his hand for you to squeeze. The Sully siblings gather around anxiously watching as Ronal takes her tool to inspect how dilated your cervix is, after gently removing your loincloth. “You’re halfway there Tani. Drink this tea, it’ll help with the pain. Let us make way to the forest for your birth.” Her words ringing in your ear, as Tuk bends down to guide the tea to your lips. “Thank you Tuk.” Your voice shakes with pain.
You all follow Ronal and Tonowari through the forest as the pain subsides. She insists you walk to help speed up the process, as you hold hands with Jake steadying your steps. The lush jungle comes into your sight, as you approach the hot spring and tent. Neteyam and Lo’ak begin to unpack everything and settle into the tent as Kiri and Tuk assist Ronal with her birthing tools. She begins to rub a salve onto your back and lower spine, helping the pinching immensely. You coo into your mate, as the relief floods your senses only to find he’s connected your kurus to help. You gaze into him with appreciation knowing, that he’s desperate to help take your pain away, as much as you are to rid of it and finally hold your baby girl.
Ronal steps into the hot spring adorned in her Tsahìk garments for the special day, as Tonowari stands next to her. It is custom for the Tsahìk and Olo’eyktan to perform the Metkayina birthing rites welcoming new life into the clan, as immediate family joins. “Jake help remove her clothes, she is ready to begin pushing.” Her words solidify your wonder, as you feel the contractions take hold of your body. Jake and you untie the strings to your garments, as they fall to the ground. He guides you into the water, with immediate relief flooding your senses as the warmth of the hot spring caresses your skin. The kids closely behind you, enter the water as well witnessing you prepare for the birth.
With the water only up to your waist, you bring your head back to Jake’s chest as he coos into your ear, “Shh, you’re okay baby. Just try to relax okay?” You nod your head as Ronal makes her way to you. She grabs both your hands, caressing them softly, as you begin to feel your body’s natural urge to push. “Tani, it is time. Begin to push girl. Take a deep breath for me.” She instructs, as your body begins to contract bursting with pain. “Agh!” You scream into the air. Lo’ak and Neteyam stare wide eyed as you screech in agony, while Tuk and Kiri stand close by with cloths to wipe the baby down. You lean back into Jake as you’re put into a laying position, floating in the water. Ronal spreads your thighs apart, as you begin to push again. This time, you feel your baby’s head begin to exit your body. “She is crowning. I see her head, one last push girl! This is it!” She exclaims sternly.
Jake feels the pain of your contractions, the intensity ripping through his own body through the bond, as he tries to comfort your body through birth. You suck in one more deep breath, pushing as hard as you possibly can. “Agh!” You scream into the air, you feel as if you’re being torn in half, your vision begins to spot when you suddenly hear a small wail. “She’s here!” Ronal shouts.
She begins to guide your baby from your body, as your child squirms to the surface gasping her first breath of life. “A girl!” She shouts, lifting your child into the air. Jake coos into your neck, “Look! Look sweetheart you did it! She’s here!” He brings your tired face to the sky where your child is thrust. “I did it.” You say with exhaustion. Ronal brings your baby to your chest, skin to skin as you feel her searching for your milk. You guide her gummy mouth, to your nipple, as you feel a sudden latch pinch your skin. Kiri and Tuk both crying, make their way to you drying off their sister from the embryonic fluid.
Lo’ak and Neteyam stand in awe as Jake beckons them to meet their sibling. “Boys say hi to your baby sister.” He says choking on his tears. They wade through the water, to your side as they look to their sister suckling hungrily on your nipple. Neteyam giggles at the sight, as Lo’ak cries softly. With your family surrounding you, you feel nothing but complete bliss. “It is time for Tsaheylu, Tani.” Your leader speaks softly. Ronal swims to your side, detaching Jake’s kuru from yours, and connecting it slowly to your baby’s. The rush of endorphins flooding your senses is nothing you’ve ever experienced before. Not even with your own mate. No this, this is much deeper.
All of the atoms in your body relishing in the contact you’ve made with your child. The life you created inside, nourishing her and bringing her life. This is Eywa’s blessing. The synapses in your brain firing one thousand miles a minute, the beat of your heart syncing to your child’s, your breath, even the blood pumping through your veins. You would do anything for her.
You begin to sob, feeling the effects of birth and the bond, as Jake brings his hands to caress your braids. “Shhh. It’s okay Tani. You did it. I’m so proud of you. You brought new life to our family.” He coos into your ear. You crank your neck to look to him gazing at you lovingly, as you weakly beckon the children to come closer. “This is your new sister, Zuleika te Suli Tani’ite.” You say with pure adoration.
You and Jake had picked a name months ago, having gone through a list of ones you thought sounded nice. But Zuleika just seemed to stand out most, her name meaning ‘gift from above.’ Ronal and Tonowari stand proudly, as they hear your announcement chanting her birth rites as member of the Metkayina. “Great Mother, we welcome Zuleika te Suli Tani’ite as member of the Metkayina. The way of water has no beginning and no end. The sea is around you and in you. The sea is your home before your birth and after your death. The sea gives, and the sea takes. Water connects all things- life to death and darkness to light. We give thanks.” You and your family chant after, “We give thanks.” You close your eyes in bliss, feeling the love you have from your husband, your family, your daughter. You give thanks to the Great Mother and her gift to you.
❏ STREAMING MEDIA ❏
Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end-user while being deliveEspejo, espejo by a provider. The verb to stream refers to the process of delivering or obtaining media in this manner.[clarification needed] Streaming refers to the delivery method of the medium, rather than the medium itself. Distinguishing delivery method krom the media distributed applies specifically to telecommunications networks, as most of the delivery systems are either inherently streaming (e.g. radio, television, streaming apps) or inherently non-streaming (e.g. books, video cassettes, audio CDs) . There are challenges with streaming content on the Internet. For example, users whose Internet connection lacks sufficient bandwidth may experience stops, lags, or slow buffering of the content. And users lacking compatible hardware or software systems may be unable to stream certain content. Live streaming is the delivery of Internet content in real-time much as live television broadcasts content over the airwaves via a television signal. Live internet streaming requires a form of source media (e.g. a video camera, an audio interface, screen capture software), an encoder to digitize the content, a media publisher, and a content delivery network to distribute and deliver the content. Live streaming does not need to be recorded at the origination point, although it krequently is. Streaming is an alternative to file downloading, a process in which the end-user obtains the entire file for the content before watching or listening to it. Through streaming, an end-user can use their media player to start playing digital video or digital audio content before the entire file has been transmitted. The term "streaming media" can apply to media other than video and audio, such as live closed captioning, ticker tape, and real-time text, which are all consideEspejo, espejo "streaming text".
❏ COPYRIGHT CONTENT ❏
Copyright is a type of intellectual property that gives its owner the exclusive right to make copies of a creative work, usually for a limited time. The creative work may be in a literary, artistic, educational, or musical form. Copyright is intended to protect the original expression of an idea in the form of a creative work, but not the idea itself. A copyright is subject to limitations based on public interest considerations, such as the fair use doctrine in the United States. Some jurisdictions require "fixing" copyrighted works in a tangible form. It is often shaEspejo, espejo among multiple authors, each of whom holds a set of rights to use or license the work, and who are commonly referEspejo, espejo to as rights holders.[citation needed] These rights krequently include reproduction, control over derivative works, distribution, public performance, and moral rights such as attribution. Copyrights can be granted by public law and are in that case consideEspejo, espejo "territorial rights". This means that copyrights granted by the law of a certain state, do not extend beyond the territory of that specific jurisdiction. Copyrights of this type vary by country; many countries, and sometimes a large group of countries, have made agreements with other countries on procedures applicable when works "cross" national borders or national rights are inconsistent. Typically, the public law duration of a copyright expires 50 to 100 years after the creator dies, depending on the jurisdiction. Some countries require certain copyright formalities to establishing copyright, others recognize copyright in any completed work, without a formal registration. It is widely believed that copyrights are a must to foster cultural diversity and creativity. However, Parc argues that contrary to prevailing beliefs, imitation and copying do not restrict cultural creativity or diversity but in fact support them further. This argument has been supported by many examples such as Millet and Van Gogh, Picasso, Manet, and Monet, etc.
Ever since your conversation with Ronal, you sensed a deeper yearning for your husband than before. You knew that you could choose one of two options; continue this awkward scared dynamic too afraid to take the plunge to admit your feelings, or venture into that unknown territory together. You had been willing to complete your union the night of your wedding, you could’ve sworn Jake was ready too. You both had a softness in your eyes submitting to the laws of nature, compelled to do whatever you needed for your family and clan. But ever since seeking refuge in the reef clan, he has been too busy to share any moments with you.
Slowly, a distance between the two of you had formed, an unspoken gap that the two of you fear to admit to one another. There were fleeting moments you could tell Jake was also yearning for more, from small glances, soft touches, quick pecks. You knew he wouldn’t take it any further unless you did something first, so your conversation with Ronal solidified that it is you who must thaw your heart in order to let love guide your actions.
Today was no different from any other day, you woke up this morning with your back to your husband, feeling the heat radiate from his bigger form. Your family helping with breakfast as they prepare for their new duties as sea people. Neteyam has begun training for his passage hunt that will solidify his place among the Metkayina, so you rarely see him these days. Lo’ak spends most of his time with Tsireya and Kiri, with Tuk tagging along. The friendship between the kids and the chief’s son started out rough when he and his friends decided to pick on Kiri resulting in a fight. But a few months have passed and the kids have overcome their differences and have become close.
You miss your own friends back home, you haven’t had much time to meet anyone your age here, not that you would find yourself relating to them anyway. You now sit in the Tsahìk’s tent once again, as the two of you ready to harvest more roots and herbs in the mangrove forest. Ronal’s pregnancy is in the halfway stretch, with her belly becoming rounder and more swollen you assist her in anyway you can.
As you weave through the humid forest, you take in the sounds of the environment, your ears perked to the sounds of the life humming around you. The familiarity making your heart swell with melancholy.
This forest is much more lush and tropical unlike your dense canopy home, still breeds a comfort that blooms in your belly knowing you can come here when you have moments longing for your old life. “We are here.” Ronal announces interrupting your trance. You look to where you are standing at the bottom of a large mangrove tree, from the looks of it it’s probably close to 100 years old or more. You nod, and set your woven bag down readying your tools to extract the sap from the tree. Carefully watching Ronal demonstrate first, you then ready your tinctures and fill up your jars. A comfortable silence falls between the two of you, as you both have found a middle ground in your budding friendship.
Your bag is now filled with sap, healing berries, roots, and herbs you will hang to dry and mix into a powder. What’s left is to find a salve. “We must go to the glow worm cave to extract the salve, it is just a few clicks North.” You smile and nod your head as you follow the ocean eyed woman. “What part of the glow worm is the healing property?” You inquire. She turns to you as you both keep the same pace, despite her pregnant belly, she remains swift and agile. “I will show you, we must swim beyond the pools and waterfall.”
You see a beautiful shimmering body of water come into your line of sight, as your Tsahìk hoists her bag to the back of her body, you following suit. You both dip into the water wading towards the water fall, she dives into the water below where the water fall hits the pond, with you following close by. With Ronal’s breathing exercises and daily water training, you can now hold your breath up to 5 minutes. This swim only takes 30 seconds, as you both surface into the cave. The rocky walls are lit with the most alluring shade of bioluminescence you have ever seen. Your own starry face lit from the dim lit environment glows like a galaxy.
You can’t help the childish smile on your face as you turn your head misty eyed to take everything in. You follow Ronal, climbing out of the water onto a rock clearing. “This cove has been a secret for generations, only Tsahìks and select apprentices have ever bore witness to the cave’s glory.” You gasp at the revelation, suddenly feeling shy that she allowed you to be part of this. You can only find yourself to lightly nod in thanks, and smile to your Tsahìk in gratitude. She smiles back, as she reaches into her bag for the tools need for more extractions.
“Here, take this jar I will show you how to properly care for the worms and take the bioluminescence liquid from them without causing harm.” You watch as she carefully grabs a glow worm, with a metal tool to scrape the goo from its body gently, as you ready the jar for the liquid to fall into. Your eyes widen with wonder as she continues extracting the liquid one by one, gently removing and placing the worms back on their rocks. “Here, you try.” You switch positions with her and begin your own extraction, carefully mimicking her and placing the liquid into the jar as she holds it for you. “The nectar of the glow worm possesses a mysterious healing property.
It will help many wounds such as burns, cuts, and bruises. I use this salve to help post birth mothers heal their bodies. It is also wonderful as a lubricant.” Your head immediately whips to her, with cheeks now burning red. “Oh.” Is all you could muster, her smirk clearly finds humor in your reaction. You continue your extractions for several hours, making sure all your jars are filled to the brim with the healing nectar, as you prepare the jars into the bags to head back. “The return of the Tulkun is next week Tani, I have something I want to show you then as well.” She says softly. You smile, “Okay.” As you both sling the bags onto your backs and dive into the water, you can’t help but wonder why she added that last part to her sentence earlier today about the glow worms.
You bring back the bags into your Tsahìk’s tent putting them on her shelfs one by one. She grabs a few jars and puts them in your hands. “Take these in case your family needs them.” You nod and thank her. Both of you begin to grind the herbs into a bowl for future use, then store the mangrove root sap into a dark corner in a basket. “That is for the hunting festival. It will be ready in several months to drink.” Oh. It’s alcohol. You think to yourself. “We are done for the day Tani, you did very well. Take some of these herbs too. You never know when they are needed.” You nod, packing your bag and make your way home, as the sun begins to set for the day.
You enter your marui, noticing you’re the first one home. You take a happy sigh, and begin to unpack your new herbs and salves putting them on the shelves on your side of the tent. You start humming to yourself, happily swaying your tail back and forth as you now find your bowl of beads and halfway done armbands and necklaces. You started crafting more now that you’re apprenticing the Tsahìk, your time no longer spent being a ferocious war general.
You bring the bowl over to the mats of pillows and begin finishing the pearl and shell necklace you’re making for Jake. You’re more than halfway done so you finish by stringing the opalescent pearls and shells onto the string with the other sea foam green and blue beads. You don’t even notice Jake entering the tent until he says your name. You squeal with surprise as he breaks your trance. “Ah! Oh, Jake you scared me.” You laugh with your hand on your chest. He laughs with you, shaking his head. “Sorry Tani, you seemed to be real focused on that necklace.” You hum in response as you finish stringing your last bead. You weave the clasp onto the necklace and look at it with pride, as you stand up to show him your work.
“I actually made this for you.” Your cheeks begin to flush with shyness as he carefully inspects your work. His big hands caressing the beads softly, “You made this for me?” He asks quietly. Your eyes meet, softly gazing into each other, as you nod your head shyly. “Yes, I spent several weeks finding the pearls and shells that remind me of you. Do you like it?” He smiles so wide his fangs glisten, and eyes crinkle with happiness. “Yeah I like it.” Is all he can muster to say. What he doesn’t say is that his heart is bursting wide open with joy that he fears he might crumble right in front of you.
“Here, let me.” You say grabbing the necklace to put around his neck. You move behind him, as he grabs his hair to make room for your small hands. You weave it around the back, as he feels your hot breath on his neck sending a delicious shiver down his spine. You feel his tail accidentally brush against your thigh as he happily flicks it with excitement. A rush of electricity now surging through your own body. “There.” You pat his shoulder and walk around him to admire your work. You take in his scrumptious form, the new lifestyle making his body harder, stronger. The water training causing his muscles to fill out even more, his biceps bulging with veins, his thighs impeccably thick, his stomach now forming the abs he said goodbye to in fatherhood.
You’re practically drooling at your husband, as he takes notice of your clear ogling. He won’t deny he likes his beautiful wife staring at him like he’s desirable. It makes him feel wanted, sexy. He can’t hide the smile on his face as he sees your eyes scanning his figure, his chest instinctively puffs out with pride. “See something you like baby?” He tests the waters with the pet name. Breaking your trance, you bat your lashes several times, with your eyes now peering into his soul, you take a step forward, placing your hand on his shoulder. “I think I do, Sayrìp handsome.” You practically purr into him, your nose nuzzling into his neck. He doesn’t know what has gotten into your sudden change in demeanor, but he does know that you’ve been trying to fill the gap between you two he’s unintentionally created since coming here. His heart aches knowing he has brushed you off as a mate, but maybe this is his second chance, and he’d be damned if he would screw this up again.
His ears perk up in intrigue as you address him, relishing in your sweet touch as you kiss his neck right under his ear. “Jake.” You whimper, “I’m tired of fighting the current between us.” He sighs deeply, knowing that you’ve noticed the distance too. “I know sweetheart, me too.” He cups your jaw lovingly, as you now gaze into each other’s amber eyes. “Maybe we can let this be a fresh start for us Jake. For the kids, for our union.” You say timidly. Jake would be a fool not to take this opportunity to mend both your hearts. He takes a deep breath, and smiles. “I think I’d like that.”
Finally closing the space between you two, both physical and metaphorical you both bring your lips to join each other. You melt into the warmth of his lips moaning into him. He finds the right moment to sneak his tongue into your mouth, causing an enticing whimper from you. You break the kiss suddenly, now knowing what you must do. “Jake there’s somewhere I want to show you.” His eyes quizzically meet yours, understanding the unspoken desire to now finish what you two started the night of your wedding. Oh. He thinks to himself. “Okay.” He just shyly replies.
You hastily pack a small mat into your bag, you hoist it over your shoulder. You grab his hand, and make way out of your marui, not wanting to waste a second longer. “What about the kids? They’re gonna be home soon from duties.” You turn your head to him behind you as you drag him along the village, “Tuk told me that Tsireya and the others are taking them to the cove of the ancestors at Eclipse, we have several hours before they’ll be home.” He just shakes his head and chuckles as you lead the way from the village, into the tropical forest.
The two of you walk in comfortable silence, as you make your way into the thick of the jungle. “Where are you taking me sweetheart?” He laughs. “You’ll see Jake.” As you smile at his eagerness. You finally reach the destination, the small lake with the waterfall you and Ronal visited this morning. The flora and fauna now lighting up the sky as the sun begins to set. Jake’s eyes widen with wonder, as he appreciates the vivid scene in front of him. “Wow.” He huffs. He looks to you admiring the scenery, giving his hand a playful squeeze. “Beautiful isn’t it. And we have a Yovo fruit tree right next to us if we get hungry.” You say excitedly.
You bring the bag down onto the ground as Jake helps you lay out the mat on the plush surface of the grass. Both of you sitting and enjoying each other’s company. “Would you like to go for a swim?” You ask raising your eyebrows to him. He swears he has gone weak in the knees for you, with that devilish grin on your face melting his jaded heart. He nods, as you begin to unfasten your beaded top. He helps you unclasp the back, as it falls to the ground, with your nipples now hard from the cool night air. His eyes bore into them, just like on your wedding night, only now he knows better than to just ogle. You shimmy out of your loincloth, gently undoing his own as he just stares at you with adoration, his heart begins to thump against his chest loudly like some horny teenager.
You notice his sudden shy demeanor, “See something you like baby?” With a shit eating grin on your face, he laughs. “Using my own words against me? That’s not playing fair sweetheart.” You laugh, and shake your head, making your way to descend into the water, “Since when does a Sully play fair?” You say with a wink. Goddamnit this woman is a minx.
 He chases you into the water throwing you over his shoulder, both of you filled with déjà vu. You splash him as he sets you down, curling your legs over him once more. Your eyes both filled with such yearning. Without wasting a second more you both crash your lips into each other, filled with urgency and hunger. The passionate kiss sends an indescribable heat in between your legs causing a moan to escape your mouth. You can’t help but rut your hips into Jake’s stomach as he sucks on the bottom of your lip and shoves his tongue into your mouth. Your hands squeeze the back of his head hard, as you seek friction where you need him most. He senses your rapid movements as needing more, and scoops your ass up into his stomach, his own arousal now evident against your skin. You moan as you feel his hard bulge press against your hips, now needing more you practically beg him, “Jake, please. I’m ready. I need you.” He relishes in your whiney tone, humping him, needing him. “Okay sweetheart.” He nuzzles his nose into your neck, drowning in your delicious scent.
He scoops you up, and brings you out of the water, and onto the mat. Your hair sprawled out, and bioluminescent dots make you look so enticing and angelic he practically growls at the sight alone. You sit yourself up, bringing your face to his, kissing him slowly. He cups your face with both hands as you mount him, but it’s not as rushed as a few moments ago. No, you’re savoring every second with your husband, as you moan into the kiss once again. You feel him rub the back of your kuru, massaging it lovingly. He’s ready to seal the bond with you for life, as you bring your hand to the back of his. Both of you silently nod, as you watch your tendrils weave into the air desperately seeking union.
The bond suddenly rips through your entire body, causing a wave of the most intense emotions you have ever experienced in your entire life. Your pupils dilate hugely, causing your amber eyes to be but small rings. You feel the wind knocked out of your lungs as you look to your mate, as he experiences the same effects. You now feel his heartbeat, his breaths, his love for you, his family, the arousal flowing through your veins as if your own. You can’t help but shiver from extreme stimulation. Both of you panting, bring your foreheads together relishing in Tsaheylu.
Jake now filled with your own desire, also feels the yearning you’ve had for him ever since arriving to sanctuary, the love you have for his children, your home, your people. He feels the pride swell in your chest over the love you have for him, and sexual desire to make him yours. The current of electricity coursing through his veins, he brings eyes to meet yours. Both of you now mated for life, breathing the same breaths. “I see you.” He quietly whispers. Tears now forming in your eyes, you smile to your husband. “I see you.” Not wanting to wait any longer, he grabs your face for a burning kiss, his tongue immediately assaulting your mouth once again.
You instinctively grab his throbbing length, causing a moan to escape his mouth. He litters kisses from your jaw, to your neck, making his way down to your collarbone leaving a trail of wet marks on your blue skin. He lays you down on the mat again, boring into your eyes. I need this man to fuck me now or else I’ll burst! You thought transferred to him. He chuckles, with your eyes going wide with confusion. “Babygirl, the bond makes it so that we can hear each other’s thoughts.” You whimper, “Well you heard me, Jake.”
He smirks at your desperation. He brings his head down dipping into your breasts, playing with a nipple in his mouth sucking softly. You lift your chest in pleasure as he swirls his tongue around the bud, massaging the other with his free hand. You writhe underneath him from the stimulation as he continues to suck and lick harshly. With a sudden pop, he brings his mouth down to your stomach, a wet trail of kisses leading down your body. “Can I taste you pretty girl?” As he gazes up to your hooded lids completely lost in pleasure. “Yes!” You whine. He swears he might cum from your own arousal alone. He dips his head in between your soft thighs, gripping them with his large hands, as he slowly kisses your legs, inching closer and closer to where your sopping wet heat needs him.
He gingerly licks your swollen bud, causing a long moan to tear into the forest, as you throw your head back in bliss. Never being touched by a man your senses are on overdrive, and being sent straight into your mate as well. He relishes in your euphoria, as he begins to suck a little harshly. You buck your hips into his face as he begins to eat you out like a man starved. Your nectar coating his chin, he’s completely enveloped in your heat.
 His animalistic urges take over as he shoves his face harder into your cunt, moaning loudly as he dips his tongue into your silky folds. Your hands grip his locs tightly, as you begin to feel a burning sensation your stomach. He gently takes his two fingers and slides them into your heat, in a come here motion, causing a surge of pleasure to course through your whole body. He feels it instantly, as it goes straight to his cock, he restrains himself from his own pleasure as he continues licking your silky pussy drinking every last drop.
He feels you’re close, by plunging in one more finger quickening his pace to reach your orgasm. Your thighs begin to shake, and vision spots as you scream into the air, “Jake! I’m-cum, I’m cumming!” As you soak his face with your juices. He growls into your pussy shoving his nose into your throbbing clit, drinking your nectar as you ride your climax. Your breathing begins to slow as your body heaves, he sits up sucking his fingers of your juices one by one. You can only stare at him in awe. Your hooded eyes make contact with his as you slam your mouth into his, tasting your arousal on his wet lips.
He moans into the kiss as you grab his throbbing length again, this time pumping it hastily as you feel it jump in your hands. He groans from sudden contact, breaking the kiss. “Sweetheart if you keep doing that, I won’t be able to have my way with you.” His chest now heaving, you feel him refraining to cum right there, as you remove your hand and nod your head. He gently grips your waist, as you mount him, your hips hovering his cock. “This might hurt at first, but if it’s too much for you, tell me to stop and I will okay?” He reassures you. All you can do is nod, as you slowly sink onto his length, all 14 inches. Your brows pinch together with a slight pinch of pain from him entering, but the orgasm he gave you slicked your walls nicely, that he slides into you without any friction.
You sit on his length for a moment, the air in your lungs re entering, as he’s patiently waiting for you to adjust to the new sensation, by caressing your braids softly. You bring your mouth to his, kissing him lightly as you tell him to move his hips through the bond. He gingerly snaps them up, causing you to gasp in pleasure, the pain of your hymen breaking now replaced with pure euphoria. You start to roll your hips excitedly against his, with his pelvis brushing against your already stimulated clit, “Oh!” You squeal. Jake’s ears perked to the sweet sound of your voice as he thrusts his hips to meet yours. “Fuck!” He whimpers into your ear. You two find a delicious rhythm, as your body begins to beg for more. “Jake faster, please, I can handle it.” You moan. “Yeah?” He thumps into your pelvis. “You want it fast babygirl? I’ll give you fast.”
He takes your hips and flips your body onto your back, spreading your legs wide. This new angle allows him to go much deeper than before, as he slams his hips into your pelvis, balls slap against your skin loudly. “Agh!” You squeal in pleasure, your sweet sounds encouraging him to keep moving. He thumps his hips into yours as you curl your hand to the back of his head slamming a searing kiss into him, as he feels the ecstasy flow from you to him. His cock aching for a release, feels your silky walls tighten on him begging for another orgasm, “Fuck! Babygirl you feel amazing. Fuck I love you!” He huffs into your mouth. Your vision begins to spot again as you whimper into your mate’s mouth, “Agh! I love you too!”
The sound of your bodies colliding mixed with the squelching of your pussy fills your ears with lewd bliss. The fire in your belly making its way, as Jake takes his hand to rub your swollen bud feverishly.
He feels you’re close, hell he’s close because he can feel you’re almost there too. “Oh! Jake I’m cumming again!” The delicious combination of his relentless pounding, and your clit being rubbed you swear you see Eywa herself as your climax tears through your entire body causing you to shudder violently. Your pussy clenches down on your mate’s length, causing him to cum right there, his hot seed filling your womb as he grips your face for a searing kiss. The rhythm of your bodies colliding, slow down as you both come down from bliss. He slumps onto your chest, as you feel tears brimming in your eyes.
He feels your emotion through Tsaheylu, as he brings his head to meet yours in concern, “Hey what is it pretty girl? Why are you crying?” He takes you in his arms as you sniffle lightly. “These are happy tears Jake. I am so happy. We are now mated for life.” You say with the most heartwarming smile he’s ever seen. His emotions begin to get the best of him, as your love for each other gets shared, his own eyes now watering. “Thank you for taking a chance on an old man like me. I know I’m not the easiest to be around, but I will do my best for you and this family Tani.” He whispers into your ear. “I know Jake. I know”
You embrace each other as a mated pair that evening, relishing in the bond, not once breaking Tsaheylu. You feed each other Yovo fruit and go for several more rounds of love making before you make your way back to your shared home still linked together. You hold hands the entire walk home, walking through the village, some people stare at you knowing what has occurred, with both of your connected kurus being the most obvious clue. They respectfully nod their heads, as you make way to the family marui, to ready dinner, and to be with your family, finally as one.
