The thought of making a joke knock off of Curse of Strahd but with the ROOTs system is in my mind.

newbie to ROOT and in a CoS campaign rn so wanted to mix stuff I like together, it was fun to replicate the art style :]

Turtle, my cat character from a oneshot of the ROOT rpg. Funnily enough I later ended up adopting an orange cat and naming it Turtle.

every time we reach a new season in the root rpg campaign i draw a new reference for tanner to show how she's changed. here's all of them so far, from spring to fall. i love my sweet adorable traumatized transgender squirrel so much. breakdowns on each after the cut

Spring: this is how tanner appeared at the start of the game. her spear, named "promise," is all she has left of her parents. nervous and unsure of herself, tanner threw herself into danger and made impulsive decisions in an attempt to continue her parents' legacy. this ultimately led to a confrontation with her parents' killer that ended with a dear friend losing an arm to protect her. (drawn in december 2021)

Summer: a new look to represent tanner's newfound resolution... and because the summer heat meant she couldn't go around with a buttoned up long sleeve coat anymore. her spear's shaft had been broken, so her friend tyrian crafted a new one made of antler, and she gave it the name "renewed promise." she resolved to do whatever she could to grow stronger and keep her friends safe. as a result, she accepted a marriage proposal from the viscount of the marquisate, in hopes that she could help exert control over one of the most powerful factions in the woodland. this proved to be a disastrous mistake, and when she finally left the marquisate's home clearing it was as a wanted squirrel. (drawn in july 2022)

Late Summer/Early Fall: following that horrible fiasco, tanner traded out her scarf and coat and hung up her spear to adopt a new persona: isadora the skunk. she hoped that by becoming someone else, she could continue her journey through the woodland while avoiding the worst consequences of her actions. she was wrong. no matter where she went, no matter what she did, people would see through her disguise, and they would remind her that there was no escaping her past. she will always be tanner, and she will always suffer for it. (drawn in february 2023)

Fall: tanner's current look (or it will be after the next session). while acting as isadora she took up daggers in place of her very recognizable spear, and she'll continue to wield them alongside renewed promise. the dragonfly tattoo on her wrist was given to her in retribution by someone her parents' wronged in the past. she had nothing to do with what happened, she was simply punished for being their daughter. the stag necklace is a symbol of an ancient order that continues to exert control over the woodland from the shadows, an order that has manipulated tanner and her companions since the start of the campaign. since learning this tanner hasn't been sure what to believe anymore. her friends are all opposed to the stag, but if the stag will help her get what she wants... maybe working for them isn't so bad. Anyway, here's some character art for an upcoming ttrpg thingy. It'll be my first time playing with the Root system, but the premise is that we'll be playing as the familiars of our humanoid characters. 👀 The dwarf barbarian is Sortsol and she was hoping to get a really cool familiar like a bear or smth. She ended up with chaotic little starling who refuses to be called anything but Heck. Heck is a Scoundrel who has a bottomless hate for the rich after they filled Heck's perches with bird spikes.

This is my character for my first tabletop rpg that's starting soon. It will be based on the Root board game so all the characters are animals: naturally I chose a silkie chicken 🐓
