Everyone always talks about the failed Jess in California spin-off but you know what spin-off I want to see? The adventures of Truncheon. I want to see Jess work at a publishing press being happy as he writes, gets to talk about and be surrounded by books, have friends, and not get his heart broken!!

give me a fic where jess stays in stars hollow after the car accident and rory breaks up with dean because he’s way too aggressive and tries to kill jess and she keeps tutoring jess and then she asks him to take her to sookie’s wedding and they kiss and everything is fixed and jess graduates and they move to new haven together because jess has to get out of that cracked town and works at a bookstore and then instead of rory and paris going on spring break, they do a kerouac-y road trip with lane and dave and jess gets to write his novel and fights to get it published and by season 6/7 he’s published and going on a book tour while rory works on the obama campaign and once dave graduates, the band gets back together and puts out their debut album together and luke and lorelai get married and everything works out <3

Things I wish we saw more in Gilmore Girls:

1. Paris, Jess, and Rory interacting

2. More of Jess and Rory’s relationship. There was two seasons of build up just for us to get table scraps of them together when they made it official. The other two main bfs got plenty of screen time with her in comparison, especially Dean

3. Lorelai and Emily bonding alone

4. Paris, Rory, and Lane interacting

5. More Tristan in general but I understand it’s because of the actor leaving, but a girl can dream

6. More Lorelai and Richard scenes. I always felt like she was seen with Emily more

7. More older and mature Jess scenes

8. I wanted a better goodbye to Madeline and Louise. They were regular side characters for three seasons, and I hate that they basically vanished. I’m curious what they’re up to besides that spring break episode.

9. More date scenes between Luke and Lorelai

10. Rory taking genuine accountability for her many horrid actions

11. People not viewing Rory as some saint and enabling her behavior when she’s literally one of the most flawed and selfish characters in the show

12. Honestly? I think Lindsay was too nice about the cheating scandal. I wish she actually got a chance to either tell Rory off or slap her. I would’ve rooted for her

13. Lorelai and Luke communicating efficiently. Both were taught not to communicate from their parents, but they need to unlearn it since it severely ruined their relationship two separate times.

14. Lorelai and Luke deserved a proper wedding. They were the most popular slow burn ship that everyone was rooting for, and we deserve a proper wedding after witnessing 7 seasons of watching them pine for one another. I’m still pissed they wasted the budget on that stupid play in the revival.

It is safe to say that Rory and Jess’ relationship had issues and some of the biggest problems were caused because Jess didn’t open his mouth, but let’s talk about how Rory also had a lot of fault on the bad things of their relationship.

The way she compared Dean and Jess was just wrong, she expected Jess, someone who’s clearly in his first serious relationship and has a lot of baggage, to behave like Dean, a guy who has experience on the boyfriend department and has a stable life.

Also, her relationship was not between just her and Jess, Dean was also involved in her choice making, like how she wanted to hide the relationship for the sake of Dean’s feelings. It seemed that she always put her ex-boyfriend’s feelings over her current one. One of the reasons why Jess says: “figures” at the top of the stairs before the fight, is that it always went back to Dean. Jess’ problem was not her friendship with the guy (even if he didn’t like it, he respected her choice), it was that she prioritized him and showed Jess who came first in her life. After the guy goes and punches her boyfriend, she simply doesn’t say anything to him or confronts him, just let’s him get away with it and doesn’t even talk to him about it at the funeral and acts as if nothing happend.

Rory was a people pleaser, emotionally immature and not smart at life or dating. She was quite selfish in her relationships (not only romantic). Yes, her boyfriends were not that great, but she wasn’t an amazing girlfriend either, everybody had some growing up to do!

L.M. Montgomery works & Gilmore Girls parallels

Once I made an Anne of Green Gables related post (I don't remember which one it was) and it got reblogged by someone with a Gilmore Girls url. It was then that it hit me, AOGG, or generally L.M. Montgomery (will shorten it to LMM from now on) works would be enjoyed by people who also like Gilmore Girls. Sure, one is contemporary, the other historical, but there are some parallels. When I started thinking about it, I couldn't stop, so here I give you my list of LMM/GG parallels (note when I say LMM I mostly mean Anne, as it's the series I know the details of best):

Stars Hollow is LMM-typical place name and that you may tie to

tight-knit community settings

ambitious young heroines

the Rory/Paris rivalry is a lot like the Anne/Gilbert rivalry

Rory and Lane are bosom buddies just like Anne and Diana

slow burn romance: Anne x Gilbert and Lorelai x Luke

typical way of talking: GG has that fast dialogue, Anne talks a lot

accidents: Rory got into a car accident with Jess, Anne almost drowned in the lake (though in Anne's case her love interest was the one to save her, while Rory's love interest kinda got her into that)

men work around the house for women they're infatuated with: Luke fixes things for Lorelai. Now, I'm not sure if Gilbert does any such work for Anne, but in Anne of Avonlea, when Anne is dreaming up her house of dreams for the first time (when she still imagines her beloved to be a tall dark emo king), Gilbert somehow manages to get into her fantasy, helping her arrange pictures and lay out gardens. In Avonlea people likely helped each other with jobs/tasks, so it might not mean anything, still it's interesting that Anne saw him doing that, it was more subconscious than anything

difficult parents/grandparents/caregivers: oh boy. I insist that many of the caregivers in LMM books are straight up abusive (Emily's aunts Elizabeth and Ruth, but also in the case of some of the minor or side characters, such as Little Elizabeth in Anne of Windy Poplars, where it's made more clear), but okay, if you don't want to go that far, at least you have to admit that often they were very difficult. So are Emily and Richard Gilmore. And Lane's mum is mega strict. With the Gilmores too, they have this pride and if LMM knew anything, it was family clans and traditions.
