#BookReview - There are several ways to connect to a place, country, and people. But one of the most important ways is ‘ the perfect food’. It so happens that when one thinks of a vacation or a trip, checking out the famous eating places or food items or the authentic food of that place is an important task.
This book by author Nilosree Biswas is about the history and tradition behind the famous foods of the land of art and culture, the city of joy – Calcutta. The title is self-explanatory but the details in the book are enriching and extremely informative.
Isn’t it true that the mouth will surely drool looking and smelling the juicy and soft Roshogullas? The little earthen pots of Mishti Doi are as beautiful as the sweet dish.
This book, Calcutta on Your Plate explores Bengali cuisine, from savory desserts to quintessential fish curry with plain rice or aar. There is art, science, and psychology behind the preparation of every good dish. Indian food is famous across the globe and it is to be accepted with a whole honest heart that we look out for an Indian restaurant in foreign lands.
Likewise, people from every State look for authentic food available in the non-states. This book surely will to some degree satiate the hunger of a Bengali who resides in a different place.

Indian desserts are one of our major guilty indulgences. Be it halwa or barfi, kheer or malpua – so many wonderful sweet treats are part of the diverse Indian cuisine. Rasgulla or roshogulla is one of the most-loved sweets in India. LAL MOHAN/ GULAB JAMUN What's life without "gorma goram lal mohan" ? My craze over desserts are still strong. Life is short and worthless without sweets. 😉 So, eat sweets to have a sweet life. Honestly, speaking I never ever thought that some day I have to prepare my favourite desserts at home. I have seen my parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts buying desserts from sweet shops and never tried preparing some particular kinds of #desserts like #roshogulla #pera #gulabjamun #kalakand #kajubarfi and so on at home. But days have arrived that we have to prepare our favourite sweets and snacks by ourselves. It's not just because of #coronavirusoutbreak⚠️ but this has started long time ago especially because of maintaining #hygiene and #chemicalfreelifestyle . It was not that easy for all thus #streetfood still existed but now people are having enough time to learn and prepare things. So, we can see so many posts on those food prepared at home that we had only had in restaurants. Thanks to the #foodchannels #foodvlogs #foodvideos #chefs and to everyone who help us preparing our favourite food items. 🤗 This is my 1st try to prepare #lalmohan or #gulabjamun or whatever name it is called as and it came out to be #luscious . I have prepared it from #scratch watching #banglarannaghor . . . #delhifoodie #foodfoodfood #nikonphotography #foodphotography #loveforfood #foodiesofindia #bloggerofassam #indianfoodbloggers #desistyle #homemadefood #quarantinecooking #livingfoodz (at Delhi, India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_cehvGA8P1/?igshid=1xbw61tqwqpas

Note
Rasgulla is tasteless, it tastes like a sponge soaked in poorly made sugar syrup and gulab jamun is too sweet to eat as it is and if you try to squeeze the chasni out it bursts and you can't eat it anyways. Ergo, I dislike both.l
Agreed or not?
Personally, don't agree. Eating a good authentic Rasgulla, or Roshogulla, is a whole other feeling and you won't get that feeling anywhere but in West Bengal and in the northeastern states.
Desiblr, opinions?
